-1  Correspondence with individuals asking for loans, circa 1945-1950, organized A-Z by name of individual.  There was about $75,000 available to CPS men after they were discharged.  Similar to the government's GI assistance program.  By 1950, this fund had grown to about $250,000.

 

-2  Correspondence about timber land as a possible area to settle CPS men.  John M. Snyder, Guy F. Hershberger and C. L. Graber were involved in this.

-1  Mennonite Education Finance Corporation, 1929-1950s

These original record books came from C. L. Graber, and were transferred to the Archives by Harold L. Swartzendruber in 1970.  This corporation was began as a way to gather funds for the Kulp and Coffman buildings at Goshen College, under the administration of the Mennonite Board of Education.  It then expanded to fund buildings at Hesston College and Eastern Mennonite College, and became known as Mennonite Education Buildings.  Later still it broadened out still further to include other kinds of fundings, and was then called Mennonite Church Buildings.

Looks like Carl Kreider's records on this committee which was investigating the church's response to having its members carry life insurance.

Abe Hallman, Chairperson.  This committee acted as a liaison between the consultant's report, 1961, and the various subsidiary boards, in implementing the recommendation to move toward one Mennonite Mutual Aid Board.

This corporation eventually carried life insurance, which was a sensitive issue in the church for many years dating from the 1940s-1960s.  On July 13, 1966, it became a Fraternal Beneficiary Organization.  This was the merger of the Survivor's Aid not-for-profit Plan, and the Hospital Aid plan.

This insurance service was to aid persons in northern Indiana in obtaining automobile insurance from Goodville in Pennsylvania.
