The Mennonite and other newspapers. Source of individual obituaries given with each record. Project managed by Thelma Martin.

Explanation

Family, friends, and fellow genealogists. REJOICE! We, who have mourned the death of the obituaries since 1998 when The Gospel Herald was discontinued have been heard. The obituary lives again!

This resurrection is being made possible by a joint project between The Mennonite, official magazine of Mennonite Church USA, and The Mennonite Historical Committee, Goshen, IN & Newton, KS. And YOU!

The Mennonite on its website http://www.themennonite.org/ has just posted a new form for you to report deaths. This form is in two sections: Section one is for The Mennonite that will continue to publish death notices for people from Mennonite Church USA. Section two allows you to give more information, even a biography for a person. You are invited to submit obituaries of people from any Anabaptist group.

The Mennonite Archives at Goshen will edit and post these complete obituaries on the MennObits website http://www.mcusa-archives.org/MennObits/, the same website where all Herald of Truth and Gospel Herald obituaries have been available for some time.
