Surviving are one son, Douglas Sands of Hopedale; one daughter, Gale (Dennis) Rogers of Indialantic, FL; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
One son, Steven preceded her in death.
Lila graduated from Hopedale High School and attended Illinois State Normal University. She worked at State Farm in Bloomington before getting married. She became a homemaker and mother on her family farm. She then worked at the Hopedale Medical Complex before getting a position at the office of Dr. Roger Neumann in Delavan. She was a member of the Tazewell County Home Extension. She served on the Et Cetera Shop Board with her husband and also volunteered there. She was a lifetime member of the Mennonite Church. Her ancestors were charter members of the Boynton Mennonite Church in Hopedale, IL and she later became a member of the Hopedale Mennonite Church.
Memorial services were held February 22, 2014 at Hopedale Mennonite Church Hopedale, IL with burial in Orndorff Cemetery, Hopedale, IL.

She was born July 23, 1960 at Freeman, Hutchinson Co., SD to William M. and Joann (Kleinsasser) Stahl. William was born January 21, 1929 and Loann was born December 8, 1937. They both survive.
On November 10, 1984 at Chicago, IL she was married to Moshen Sarfarzi.
Surviving are two daughters, Ariana and Parisa, one son, Cameron one brother, Mark (Karen) Stahl, and two sisters, Carol (Tim) Meyer; and Jeanie (Carter) Nold.
Memorial services were held March 6, 2014 at Hutterthal Mennonite Church, Freeman, SD.

Del graduated from Southeastern Bible College and ?pastored for seven years in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a member of Grace Point Church of Paradise (formerly Paradise Mennonite) where he served as Associate Pastor for 25 years, retiring in 2005.
He was employed by Heritage Custom Kitchens for 23 years and for 10 years at Premier Custom-Built.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Laurie, wife of Dale Hoover of New Holland, Jan, wife of Marty Clemmer of Gordonville, Kara, wife of Glenn Kurtz of Harrisonburg, VA, and Maria, wife of Kevin Beiler of Paradise; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Jay of Meyersdale, PA; and a sister, Joyce Davenport of Fishersville, VA.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6pm on Saturday, May 31 and 2 to 4pm on Sunday, June 1, at Grace Point Church of Paradise, 10 S. Singer Ave., Paradise, PA. The memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 1 at 4:00pm at the Church. Private burial will be held at convenience of the family at the New Holland Mennonite Cemetery. She was born in New Holland to the late David and Esther (Stoltzfus) Musselman. Irene was the wife of Ken Sauder, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage.
Irene was a member of Ephrata United Zion Church, Ephrata. She loved spending time with her family and doting on her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing puzzles, going to the mountains and trips to the beach with the girls. Irene worked as a Manager for Shady Maple Smorgasbord.
In addition to her husband and parents, Irene is survived by 2 daughters, Linda, wife of Steve Ludwig of Denver, Lisa Means of Ephrata; 2 grandchildren, Craig Means, fiance of Kelsey Martin, Miranda Means; 4 brothers, Raymond, Harold, John and David Jr. Musselman; 4 sisters, Dolores and Patricia Musselman, Alice Reiff and Phyllis Newswanger.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Amos.
Funeral services will be held on at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 27, at the Ephrata United Zion Church, 408 East Fulton Street, Ephrata, with Pastor Jay Showalter officiating. Interment will take place in the Hahnstown United Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Sauder was a farmer, and later he was a woodworker at H. M. Stauffer Lumber Yard. After that, he was a custodian at CV School District and lastly at the Worship Center. He was a member of the Stumptown Mennonite Church where he had served as a Sunday School teacher and chorister.
Melvin will be lovingly missed by: his daughters, Jane married to Glenn Leaman, Brownstown, Sherlyn married to the Rev. Sam J. Smucker, Lancaster, Twila married to Lester Smoker, New Holland; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; daughter-in-law, Miriam married to Roy Mentzer, New Holland; sisters, Virginia Hoover, Kathryn married to Eby Hershey, both Landis Homes. He was preceded in death by: his son, Ken Sauder; grandchildren, Roger Leaman and Christopher Smucker; sisters, Leila Zimmerman and Celestine Eberly.

Omer Dean Schlabach, 25, of Shipshewana, died at 3:48 pm on Tuesday,
June 17, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been battling a brain
tumor for four years. He was born on March 25, 1989 in Goshen, to Mahlon
A. and Treva M. (Yoder) Schlabach.
Survivors in addition to his parents in Shipshewana are four brothers, Glen (Treva ) Schlabach of Goshen, Dale (Karen) Schlabach and John (Christina) Schlabach both of Shipshewana, James (Neva) Schlabach of Goshen; nine sisters, LouEtta (Timothy) Schlabach of Goshen, Laura (Maynard) Lehman of LaGrange, Mary (Lester) Miller of Millersburg, Kathy (Daryl) Wingard of Middlebury, Lena (Delmar) Hostetler of Millersburg, Rhonda, Rhoda, Susan and Beth Ann Schlabach all at home; 27 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Amos & Mary Schlabach, Monroe & Clara Yoder, two nephews.
He was currently working at Shipshe Welding.
Visitation will be after 1:00 pm on Thursday June 19, and all day Friday, June 20, at family residence, 11965 W. 200 S. Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Saturday June 21, also at the family residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Karl Dean Miller and the home ministers of the Old Order Amish Church. SOUTH BEND - Jeannette J. Schmidt, 87, died Friday evening, Sept. 19, at Morning View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Bend.
She was born March 11, 1927, in Cordell, Okla., to Peter D. and Joycie (Schultz) Wiens.
On Sept. 14, 1946, in Bessie, Okla., she married Paul Schmidt. He died Nov. 24, 1997, in Newton, Kan.
Surviving are two sons, Vyron (Elvina) Schmidt of Goshen, and Dennis G. (Dianne) Schmidt of Pandora, Ohio; six grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa) Schmidt, Andrea Schmidt, Stephanie (Aaron) Wieand, Ryan Schmidt, Philip (Mary) Schmidt and Julia Schmidt; and five great-grandchildren, Carter, Colette, Adelyn, Micah and Ethan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Vivian Baergen.
Jeannette was a 1945 graduate of Cordell High School, a former member of the Newton Extension Homemakers Club and Church Women United. She taught youth Sunday school classes for many years as a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton. She was currently a member of the Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen. She retired as an administrative assistant for Women in Mission of the General Conference Mennonite Church in Newton after 30 years of service.
Her body will be cremated, and a memorial service will be at a later date. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens West in Newton.
Memorials may be made to Africa Inter-Mennonite Mission for the Hope for Congo Bibles Project.

MILLERSBURG - David J. Schmucker, 67, died in his home Monday morning, Jan. 13, 2014.
He was born Sept. 13, 1946, in Elkhart County to Jancy and Martha Ella (Troyer) Schmucker.
He married Martha Barkman in Indianapolis on Oct. 16, 1966. She died May 27, 2013.
He is survived by three daughters, Sheila Schmucker of Goshen and Sheri Schmucker and Tamara (Matt) Ellenberger, both of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, David E. and Dale Schmucker, both of Millersburg; a grandson, Noah; three sisters, Rose (Ervin) Gingerich of Drakesville, Iowa, and Edna Mae Schmucker and Mary (Levi) Miller, both of Nappanee; and five brothers, Melvin (Erma) of Milford, Ezra (LeAnna) and Marion (Frieda), both of Nappanee, Lee of Morrison, Colo., and Simon (Martha) Schmucker of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three siblings, Miriam, Dan and Junior Schmucker.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Schmucker was a retired farmer and factory worker.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2014, funeral service will be conducted. GOSHEN - Dorothy M. Schmucker, 86, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
She was born Dec. 8, 1927 in Elkhart County, to William and Lizzie Ann (Mast) Sumpter.
In February 1946, she married Willard N. Schmucker in Middlebury. He died in 1975.
She is survived by three children, Sharon Babin, Goshen, Kenneth Schmucker, Sturgis, Mich., and Joyce Schrock, Middlebury; eight grandchildren, Michael (Nancy) Babin, Marc (Elisabeth) Babin, Kent (Courtney) Schmucker, Tammy Scarberry, Heather (John) Jones, Amanda (Robert) Kindel, Bryan (Jaimee) Schmucker and Kenneth Kern; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eldon (Elizabeth) Sumpter, LaGrange.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two siblings, Homer Huffman and AnnaBelle Yoder.
A member of East Goshen Mennonite Church for 60 years, Mrs. Schmucker was known for her quilts. She volunteered at Greencroft.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Saturday at East Goshen Mennonite Church. The Revs. Steve Slagel and Dorothy's nephew, Hubert Schmucker, will officiate.
Burial will follow at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen.

NAPPANEE - Earl E. Schmucker, 85, died at his daughter's residence at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, of natural causes.
He was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Marshall County to Eli M. and Mary (Yoder) Schmucker.
On Nov. 20, 1952, he married Mary E. Miller.
She preceded him in death February 10, 2008.
Surviving are his sons, Elmer Schmucker of Garnett, Kan., Raymond Schmucker of Irvington, Ky., John Schmucker of Nappanee and Howard Schmucker and Eugene Schmucker, both of Bremen; daughters Etta (Larry) Borkholder of Milford, Clara Yoder of Shipshewana, Ruth Hochstetler of Ligonier, Dorothy Yoder of Nappanee and Judy Hostetler of Topeka; 76 grandchildren; 115 great-grandchildren; brothers Vernon Schmucker of Honduras, Mahlon Schmucker and Owen Schmucker, both of Bremen and Ivan Schmucker of Nappanee; and sisters Ruby Byler and Erma Schmucker, both of Nappanee.

Also surviving are his step-mother, Lovina Schrock of Blair, WI; three sisters and four brothers-in-law Martha and Chriss Borntrager of Augusta, WI, Sylvia and Ora Schrock of Chetek, WI, Laura and Harvey Miller of Medford, WI, and Ervin Miller of Medford, WI; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Clara Schmucker, of Medford, WI, Simon and Ida Schmucker of Medford, WI, and Edward and Edith Schmucker of Bronson, MI.
His parents, two sisters, Alma Miller and Clara Schmucker, and a brother, Paul Schmucker all preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 9:30 am at the Dennis Schlabach residence (1740 N - 400 W, LaGrange, IN) with Bishop Amos Yoder and home ministers officiating. GOSHEN - Myrtle Schmucker, 88, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 16, at Courtyard Healthcare Center, where she had been a resident the past year.
She was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Allen County to David and Elizabeth (Liechty) Witmer.
On June 1, 1947, she married the Rev. Eli Schmucker in Allen County. He died Oct. 14, 2010.
She is survived by four sons, Daniel L. Schmucker of New Paris, Arnold J. (Ann) Schmucker of Portland, Ore., Howard D. (Brenda) Schmucker of Goshen and Edward L. (Rena) Schmucker of New Paris; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Dorothy King, Eldora Blosser, Eldina Witmer and Gladys Haarer; a brother, Wilbur "Bill" Witmer; a daughter-in-law, Darla Schmucker; and a granddaughter, Kathryn.
A graduate of Leo High School, Mrs. Schmucker was a homemaker as well as working as a bookkeeper for Schmucker Excavating. She was a member of Family Worship Center at the Lighthouse in Goshen, where she and Eli enjoyed the privilege of pastoring for most of their retirement years.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, funeral service will be conducted. Pastor James Hochstetler will officiate. Burial will follow in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen.

SHIPSHEWANA - Albert T. Schrock, 74, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8.
He was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Hutchinson, Kan., to the late Tobe R. and Anna (Bontrager) Schrock.
On June 15, 1961, in LaGrange County, he married Ella Gingerich.
Survivors include his wife; children Rosanne (Lonnie) Gingerich, Veronica (LaVern) Gingerich, Lorene (Leon) Miller, Linda (David A.) Miller and Dannie A. (Fannie), Marlin A. (Erma M.) and Daryl A. (Rose Ellen) Schrock; 43 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and siblings Susie (Harley) Beachy and Felty (Bertha) and Tobie (Marilyn) Schrock.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Edna Helmuth and Phineas, Dannie and Harvey Schrock; and grandchildren Karl Schrock, Jamie Gingerich, Nadine Miller and David Schrock.

WOLCOTTVILLE - Cletus J. Schrock, 92, died at 6:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at home.
He was born March 27, 1921, in LaGrange County to John and Elizabeth (Wingard) Schrock.
On Sept. 14, 1957, in Middlebury, he married Mary Miller.
Survivors include his wife; children, Char (Jim) Davis of Middlebury, Karen (Dan) Yoder of Goshen, Steve (Sonya) Schrock of Shipshewana, Ron Schrock of Goshen and Clete "Jay" (Rachel) Schrock; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and siblings Anna Miller, Edna (Andy) Bontrager, Lucille (Rudy) Miller of Middlebury, Katie Schrock of Millersburg, Elmer (Marj) Schrock and Menno Schrock of Nappanee.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Wilma Price, Beulah Argento, Ida Kaiser, Alice Stewart and Mary Bontrager.
He was a member of Topeka Mennonite Church and was a dairy farmer.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, and for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, funeral service, all at Topeka Mennonite Church, Topeka. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.

Daniel D. Schrock, 88, of LaGrange, formerly of Shipshewana, died at 7:30 pm on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Millers Merry Manor, LaGrange. He was born on September 6, 1925, in Middlebury, to Jonas J. and Sylvia (Miller) Schrock. On October 30, 1954 in Emma Church he married Alice Shetler, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two sons, Donald Duane Schrock and
Dale A. (Sandy) Schrock; a granddaughter, Nicole Renae Schrock all of
Nampa, ID; three sisters, Anna Chupp of Arthur, IL, Fannie (Rueben) Miller of
Sullivan, IL, Lena (David) Schrock of Arthur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jacob and Joseph Schrock. Daniel was a member of the Shore Mennonite Church, Shipshewna and worked as a truck driver most of his life; he work for Zook Trucking for many years and then for Yoder Farm and Feed, Topeka from 1984 until retiring in 1991. He did Amish taxi work in his retirement.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 11, at Shore Mennonite Church, 7235 W 100 North Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday July 12, also at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastor Carl Horner. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church.

On Jan. 27, 1944, he married Anna Ruth Bontrager, who died March 25, 2000. He married Viola (Schrock) Lambright on Nov. 10, 2001. She survives.
Also surviving are children Judy Beachy of Mount Gilead, Ohio, and Velma Swartz, Carolyn Schrock-Shenk and Shirley Troyer, all of Goshen, and Stephen Schrock of Middlebury; daughters-in-law Rhonda Schrock and Norma Schrock, both of Middlebury; stepchildren LaVerta Borntrager and Mervin, Vernon and Gerald Lambright; 15 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; and sister Lydia Borntrager of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by two sons, a great-grandson and seven siblings.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury, and an hour prior to the 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, funeral at Griner Mennonite Church. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.

Shipshewana. He had been battling Cystic Fibrosis. He was born on
January 17, 1991, in Goshen, to Dannie A. and Fannie A. (Gingerich)
Schrock.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two sisters, Marlene

ORRVILLE, Ohio - Donald E. Schrock, 95, died Saturday, Nov. 29, at Compassionate Care Center in Canton.
He was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Orrville, to Alvin J. and Mary (Ramseyer) Schrock.
He graduated from Smithville High School in 1937 and was a dairy farmer in partnership with his father.
On April 9, 1944, he married Harriet Martin. She died Sept. 9, 1997. He married Louise Emerson on Dec. 30, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; four daughters, Marilyn (Fred) Finney of Wooster, Diane (Jim) Hertzler and Sharon (Leonard) Beechy of Goshen, Ind., and Janet (Bill) Schroeder of Columbus Grove; and four stepchildren. Also surviving are grandchildren Steve Finney, Chris (Tammy) Finney, Brian (Tanya) Finney, Katie Schroeder and Chris (Marjorie) Schroeder, all of Ohio; Jenny Alonzo, Melanie Hertzler, Laura (Mark) Oyer and Mary (Tristan) Beechy-King, all of Goshen; stepgrandchildren Phil (Jessica Lapp) Hertzler of Michigan and Randy (Lisa) Hertzler of Maryland; great-grandchildren Maya, Noah, Ruth, Luke, John, Isaac, Zane, Piper and Emery; numerous stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Dean (Joy) Schrock and Darrell (Mary Ann) Schrock, both of Ohio; and a sister, Laverne (Richard) Redett of Ohio.
His first wife, Harriet; his parents; sisters Lillian Winkler and Mary Louise Berkey; and brother Dale Schrock preceded him in death.
Donald was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville, where he sang in the choir and served as a Stephen Minister.
He enjoyed volunteer work with Gideons International and Habitat for Humanity. A charter member of the Smithville Ruritans, he also served as a Greene Township trustee for 16 years. He sang with the Wayne County Choral Union until his early 90s.
A memorial service was at Oak Grove Mennonite Church on Dec. 3.

SUGARCREEK -- Peter N. Schrock, 90, of 2193 County Road 140, Sugarcreek, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at 9:30 p.m., at his residence.
He was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Holmes County to the late Noah J. and Emma (Miller) Schrock. He was retired from Belden Brick and was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Sharon Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Esther Beachy, whom he married Dec. 6, 1945; his children, Henry (Lovina) Schrock, Robert (Betty) Schrock, Anna (Elmer) Smucker and Edward Schrock, all of Sugarcreek; brothers and sisters, Jonas Schrock of Montgomery, Ind., Levi Schrock of Millersburg, Mary Ann Hershberger of Winesburg, Katie Ann Rouse of Monroeville, Emma Shetler of Mesopotamia, and Viola Spence of Beach City; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren and five sisters, Edna Schrock, Lena Jackson, Dinah, Polly Garber and Ella Mae.
Services will be held on Monday, May 26, 2014, at 10 a.m., at Sharon Mennonite Church with Pastor Ed Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Cherry Ridge Cemetery in Holmes County. He was born April 29, 1936, in Goshen, to Levi J. and Martha (Miller) Schrock.
On May 16, 1957, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Hochstetler in Goshen.

GOSHEN - Earl D. Schwartzentruber, 85, of Goshen, died Saturday evening, Dec. 20, at Greencroft Healthcare, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
He was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Tavistock, Ontario, Canada, to David and Barbara (Streicher) Schwartzentruber.
On Aug. 20, 1955, he married Genevieve M. Leichty in West Liberty, Ohio.
She survives along with three children, Douglas (Diane White) Schwartzentruber of Carmel, David (Becky) Schwartzentruber of Goshen and Donita (Steven) Rhodes of Harrisonburg, Va.; eight grandchildren, Alicia, Jared, Mandy, Darin, Jena (David) Plaster, Lauren, Carter and Addison; a great-granddaughter, Rhilynn; a sister, Betty Bearinger of Hamilton, Ontario; and a sister-in-law, Fannie Mae Schwartzentruber of Tavistock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Glenn.
With GED in hand, Earl was thrilled to come to Goshen College in 1953 and earned a bachelor's degree in English, followed by a master's of divinity degree from then called Goshen Biblical Seminary. After an intense year of language study in Costa Rica, the family moved to Bragado, Argentina, where he served for 11 years as pastor of a Mennonite church.
Upon returning to the U.S. in 1973, he established his own business, Earl's Construction, until retiring in 1993. Retirement gave him opportunities to express his love for woodworking.
He was an active member of College Mennonite Church'; taught Sunday school at Greencroft for many years and volunteered in various projects in the Goshen area.
He loved and valued his wife, his children and their families. Family, church, Bible study, carpentry, music, teaching and the Spanish language were integral parts of his life.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec 26, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
There will be a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at College Mennonite Church. Pastor Phil Waite will officiate.
A private family burial will take place in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

Dave was a member of the Hahnstown United Zion Church, Ephrata. Dave was a passionate truck driver, known as "Penny Saver" over the years, had worked for Burkholder Paving, Martin Limestone and was an owner/operator for 36 years. He loved driving, working in his shop and was always busy helping others. Dave's greatest love in life was his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Dave enjoyed collecting old pedal tractors, walking and weekend trips to the cabin in Belleville.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lorraine (Mellinger) Sensenig. A graduate of East Hempfield High School, Elizabethtown College, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, Paul was employed by the Centennial School District in Bucks County for over 30 years, but was a teacher all of his life. He enriched many lives in the classroom and imparted his love of humanity to any student who was receptive to the message. Former students maintained contact with Paul for years after they left his classroom. He shaped young minds and grew future leaders. Paul was a lifelong patron of the musical arts. He attended performances of the Philadelphia Orchestra for decades.
He was a devoted opera enthusiast, attending live performances in Lancaster, Philadelphia, New York, Frankfurt, Rome, and Milan. In later years, visitors and callers would often hear Paul's opera recordings playing in the background. Lorraine was his constant companion in music appreciation. An avid fan of baseball, Paul loved the Lancaster Barnstormers, the Philadelphia Phillies, and was learning to love the Washington Nationals, who were closing on first place in his affections. Paul aged, but never grew old. At 82, he embarked on Facebook. At age 84, he decided he needed wide-band Internet access for his research and composing innumerable Letters to the Editor. He loved his New Yorker magazine and always read the cartoons first. Paul lived his life as a creative and liberal thinker. He was admired by many and loved by even more.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by a daughter, Allegra Sensenig, wife of Chris Leibengood, of Arlington, Virginia; two sisters: Evelyn Sensenig of Lancaster and Miriam Gingerich, wife of Owen Gingerich, of Cambridge, Massachusetts; three nephews, their spouses and children. WAKARUSA - Merianne C. Shaffer, 61, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 11.
She was born Oct. 1, 1952, to Delbert and Erma (Stickel) Cripe.
Merianne is survived by her husband, Gerald H. Shaffer; they were married Oct. 18, 1980. Also surviving are her brother, Larry (Kathleen) Cripe, and sisters Connie (Lonnie) Blucker and Barbara Busch.
Merianne was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Aarron Busch.
A member of the first graduating class of Northwood High School, Merianne attended Taylor University and studied art at Manchester College prior to graduating from Purdue University with a degree in animal science.
Merianne grew up on La Har Va Guernsey dairy farm, operated by her parents, and was a lifetime member of the Indiana Guernsey Breeders Association. Merianne worked as a herdsman on dairy farms in Clinton and Elkhart counties. In the late 1970s, she was in charge of raising calves at the Purdue University Dairy Center. At the time, Merianne was one of the few women to be a full-time employee of a major university agricultural research station. It was a source of satisfaction to her that she never lost a calf during her time at Purdue.
Following the death of her parents, Merianne and Gerald purchased the home farm in 1990 and Merianne began full-time work there. Merianne loved being outdoors - gardening and caring for her apple orchard - loved her barn cats and took equal pleasure in hearing the song of a wren and the howl of coyotes. Merianne was a farm girl, through and through.
A member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Merianne was a student of the Bible and active in deliverance ministry. She was a prayer warrior and a firm believer in the power of intercessory prayer to change lives and circumstances. Merianne's gift was to be an encouragement to others, following 1 Thessalonians 5:14 "... encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all."
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, 64901 C.R. 11, Goshen. A private burial for the family will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery, followed by a 10 a.m. service of celebration for a life well-lived Thursday, July 17, at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. Pastor Wes Bontreger and Pastor Harold Yoder will officiate.

Marian Irene Shirk, 83, of Memphis, Missouri died at her home Wednesday, January 29, 2014.
Visitation will be held at the Cornerstone Mennonite Church on Sunday Feburary 2, 2014 from 2 - 4 P.M. and from 6 - 8 P.M.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 3, 2014 with burial to follow in the Cornerstone Mennonite Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Walter of Memphis; a daughter, Clydine Sauder and her husband James of Lititz, PA; a son, Clifford Shirk and his wife Stacy of Narvon, PA; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Shirk is survived by three brothers; Stanley Martin of Ephrata, PA, Lloyd Martin of Gap, PA and Earl Martin of Denver, PA and 75 nieces and nephews.

Fern Marie Showalter, 94, of Goshen, formerly of Middlebury, went peacefully to be with the Lord at 12:20 pm, on Sunday, June 15, at Greencroft Health Care Center, Goshen. She was born on July 10, 1919, in Shipshewana, to Noah and Sovilla (Blough) Hooley. On February 22, 1941 in LaGrange County she married Stahly Showalter, he died May 19, 2006.
Surviving are four daughters, Phyllis (Carl) Metzler of Goshen, Darlene (Lynn)
Miller of Elkhart, Dianne (David) Lehman of Goshen, Delores (Mark) Showalter-Boyd of Lititz, PA; two sons, Lowell (Cindy) Showalter of Syracuse, Ron (Tamylia) Showalter of Union, MO; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Hooley of Shipshewana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Florence Rheinheimer, three brothers, LaVerne, Francis and Ernest Hooley.
Fern had retired from Abitibi after working there several years and was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church; she enjoyed quilting and was active in the sewing circle of the church. She had volunteered at Loveway in Bristol and at The Depot in the Old Bag Factory, Goshen.
Family and friends may gather at 3:00 pm on Tuesday June 17 at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen for a graveside service which will be followed by visitation from 4:30 - 6:00 pm and a celebration of life service at 6:00 pm. Services will be conducted by Pastors Tyler Hartford and Ron Diener. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Pleasant View Mennonite Church.

Mary Idell (Weaver) Shue was born on the family farm east of Harper, Dec. 4, 1928 to Reuben and Lydia (Gerber) Weaver. In 1948 she graduated from Hesston Academy. She worked one summer at Little Eden Camp in Onekama, Michigan, where she met Paul Shue. After a year’s long distance relationship, they were married by her father at Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church on September 3, 1950.
Mary was an active long time member of Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church, and was involved in with music, Sunday School and the Piece Makers sewing circle. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and spending time with family. She was a helper at the Pleasant Place nursery for many years and later drove a school bus for USD 361.
On August 18, 2014, she passed away peacefully at the Attica Long Term Care facility at the age of 85 years. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Lydia Weaver, and six brothers and five sisters.
She will be missed by her children, Brenda Crosthwait and husband, John, of Brush, CO, Bradley and wife, Brenda, of Harper, KS; Terry and wife, Kay, of Kidron, OH; and Tim and wife, Jennifer, of Kidron, OH; grandchildren Rebecca Crosthwait of Brush, CO; Erin Nowland and husband, Matt, with their children Parker, Blade and Silas Nowland, of Yuma, CO; Sara Crosthwait of Denver, CO; Jeremy Shue and wife, Laura, and their son, Josiah, of Goshen, IN; Nathanael Shue and wife, Audra, and their daughter, Skyler,of Denver, CO; Isaac Shue and his wife, Karina, of Harper, KS; Bethany Nussbaum and husband,Scott, of Orrville, OH; Krista Mast and her husband,Craig, and daughter, Anna, of Goshen, IN; Kelsey Hochstetler and husband, Jeff,of Kidron, OH; Harper, Sommer, and Veena Shue of Kidron, OH; sisters Alta Fry of Elk Falls, KS, and Wanda Good of Harrisonburg, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was the president of Calvin L. Smoker Builders, Inc. and Honey Brook Cabinets, Inc. Calvin was a member of Forest Hills Mennonite Church and enjoyed hunting in Potter County, metal detecting, collecting Indian artifacts and bottles. He enjoyed collecting sea shells on Sanibel Island, FL.
He will be lovingly missed by: children, C. Richard husband of Kim Smoker of Honey Brook, Beverly S. Smoker of Morgantown, Ronald L. husband of Amy Smoker of Glenmoore, Larry Q. Smoker, Calvin L., 82, of Honey Brook, Chester Co., PA, died March 10, 2014 at the same place. He was born August 10, 1931 at Gap, Lancaster Co., PA to Reuben and Anna (Lapp) Smoker. He was married to Mabel D. Zook, who died January 21, 2014.
Surviving are children, C. Richard (Kim) Smoker; Beverly Smoker; Ronald L. (Amy) Smoker; Larry Q. Smoker; and Mona Lu (Kerry) Shuman; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a brother, John Smoker; and a sister, Katie Smoker.

LITITZ, Pa. - Marcus G. Smucker , 82, of Lititz, formerly of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Lancaster General Hospital.
He was the loving husband of Dorothy Wenger Smucker for 53 years.
Born in Bird-in-Hand, he was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna (Stoltzfus) Smucker, and two brothers, Jonathan and Paul Smucker.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Deb Smucker and her wife, Elizabeth Wall; his son, Greg Smucker and his wife, Karen Zorn; his grandchildren, Olivia Zorn and Julian Zorn; his siblings, John I. (Irene) Smucker, Levina (Dale) Huber, Sara Ann Landis (Henry Benner) and Mary Ellen (David) Dowling; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Marcus received his bachelor's degree from Eastern Mennonite University, a Master's of Divinity from New York Theological Seminary, a Master of Theology from Union Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from Union Graduate School.
Marcus was known as a pastor, teacher, spiritual advisor and conflict mediator. He began his career as a pastor at Portland Mennonite Church, where he spent 16 years and developed lifelong connections. He was an associate professor at the Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary from 1982 to 1999, and an adjunct professor at Eastern Mennonite Seminary from 1999 to the time of his death.
Marcus specialized in conflict mediation, bringing a healing ministry to hundreds of pastors and churches struggling with divisive issues. He was an expert teacher in spiritual formation, mentoring individuals and teaching at the seminary level.
The great love of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren, Julian and Olivia, with whom he spent countless hours. Marcus also made a difference in the lives of his many loving relatives and friends. He was an active member and participant at a variety of levels of East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church.
A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Highway East in Lancaster. A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Mellinger Mennonite Church, followed by a time to greet the family and an informal luncheon. A private interment will be Saturday prior to the memorial service at Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church.

He was a faithful member of Sarasota Mennonite Church, Sarasota, FL. he is survived by 40 grandchildren and 120 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Abner (Sadie) Smucker, Eli (Annie) Smucker, David (Susie) Smucker and five sisters, Lydia Esh, Naomi Esh, Susie (Dan) Dienner, Katie (John) Stoltzfus, Sadie (Mose) Lapp; and three sisters-in-law, Sadie, Elizabeth, and Malinda Smucker.
