Dec. 27th, 1876, in Oregon, Lancaster Co., Pa., of Diphtheria, ANNA L. BRUBAKER, wife of Henry Brubaker (maiden name Hess), aged 22 years, 4 months and 26 days. Services by Charles Hostetter, Amos Herr and Christian Bomberger. Text: Mark 13:33-37. Our sister in Christ was received in the church through baptism on the 27th of August, 1876. She sought the Lord and it is believed she found Him, nearly two weeks previous to her death. Her thoughts flowing out through the pen, in admonition and encouragement to a friend, bear testimony that she was a sincere Christian, it appeared as if she really felt that we have no abiding city here, and shall seek a future home. It may be of some good to us all brethren, sisters and friends, to read the desire of one, when nearing the end of her pilgrimage, hence I will send some of her writing that it may appear in print. "Sabbath morn--Dear and beloved sister in the Lord, as I am blest with health and mind unto this present hour, I will try by the help of God to answer your most welcome letter. I have mentioned, above all how the Lord has spared us, but oh how long yet is unknown to me! I sometimes feel as though my time would not be long any more in this troublesome world, but my wish is to do the will of God, to love and serve him who shed his precious blood for us all. I have felt so sad I hardly knew what to do, but then I knelt down and prayed to an all-seeing God and Father. O, how I wished that if my time will soon be out, that he will take me to that happy and heavenly home. I then wished to open the Testament, and that God would direct my finger upon a line that God would direct my finger upon a line that would do me good; so I opened and read a chapter. I then felt as if I should open the hymn book, and did so, and behold I found something very encouraging to me; I then felt as though the Lord had heard my prayer. You will find it in the Lancaster Hymn Book page 386,

"Ich hab mein Sach Gott heimgestellt."

Dear sister, I feel happy that I can say sister in the Lord. I hope we may ere long meet, and have a personal talk, if it be the Lord's will; but if not in this world, I hope and wish above all, that we may be prepared to meet above where parting is unknown. May the Lord be with us unto a happy end through Jesus Christ, Amen."
