Bridge. --- Idabelle, daughter of the late Joseph and Sally (Demastus) Bridge, was born Oct. 24, 1869, near Shenandoah, Va.; passed away at her home Feb. 26, 1950; aged 80 y. 4 m. 24 d. She had been in poor health for the last two years and bedfast for the last four months. On May 20, 1900, she was married to D. R. Bridge and lived near the Mt. View Mennonite Church until March 10, 1927, they moved to Waynesboro, Va., where she lived until death. In 1901 she united with the Mt. View Church, remaining faithful until death. Surviving are her husband, 2 sons (Howard and Caskie), 3 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, all of Waynesboro, Va.; also a number of nieces and nephews. Three brothers and 4 sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Feb. 28 at the Springdale Mennonite Church, with Joseph Driver and Silas Brydge officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Buzzard. --- David K., son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Kreider) Buzzard, was born Dec. 20, 1863, in Harrison Twp., Elkhart Co., Ind.; passed away Feb. 25, 1950, at his home in South West, near Wakarusa, Ind., after a prolonged illness; aged 86 y. 2 m. 5 d. On March 10, 1887, he was married to Saloma Moyer, who predeceased him on April 5, 1930. Several years after their marriage they united with the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, serving God and the church faithfully until death. To this union were born 3 daughters (Edith-Mrs. L. W. Yoder, Mertie-Mrs. Walter Blazer, and Mabel, all of Goshen, Ind.), who survive. Also surviving are a granddaughter, a great-grandson, and 3 stepgranddaughters. His grandson predeceased him in 1947. On Sept. 16, 1933, he was married to Mrs. Suvillo Helmuth, who survives. Also surviving are 5 stepdaughters (Mrs. Levi Miller, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mrs. Aden Yoder, Mrs. Carl Huff and Mrs. Clifford Sechrist, all of Goshen, Ind.; and Mrs. Elmer Homes, Wakarusa, Ind.) 18 stepgrandchildren, 2 brothers (Alpheus Buzzard and John F. Buzzard, Dunlap, Ind.), a sister (Mrs. Saloma Lehman, Elkhart, Ind.), nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. In 1894 he graduated from the Detroit Veterinary College and was active in the profession until his retirement in 1947. Most of his life was spent in Elkhart Co. Funeral services were in charge of Abram Hartman at the home and J. H. Moseman and R. F. Yoder at the church. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Detweiler. ­ John F., son of the late Samuel D. and Anna (Freed) Detweiler, of Hilltown Twp., Fairhill, Pa., was born in Hilltown Twp., Dec. 19, 1867; passed away at his home in Souderton, Pa., Feb.25 ,1950; aged 82 y. 2 m. 6 d. He was a member of the Rockhill Mennonite Church, north of Telford, Pa. He served as deacon from 1916 and as president of the board of the Eastern Mennonite Home from 1921 until he retired about three months before his death. On Dec. 28, 1889, he was united in marriage to Clara Rickert, Hilltown Twp. Surviving are his widow, 5 children (Mrs. Hiram Delp, Mrs. Jacob M. Moyer, and Mrs. Preston S. Alderfer, Souderton, Pa.; Mrs. Irvin G. Gehman , Barto, Pa.; and Wilmer R., Perkasie, Pa.), 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a brother (Mahlon F. Detweiler, Telford, Pa.), and a sister (Mrs. Salome Landis, Telford, Pa.). A son (Samuel) preceded him in death last July. Funeral services were held at the Rockhill Mennonite Church, in charge of Arthur Roth, assisted by Edwin Souder, Alfred Detweiler, and Joseph Gross. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Heatwole. --- Henry Albert, son of R. J. and Margaret (Kilmer) Heatwole, was born Nov. 28, 1873, near Canada, Kans.; passed away Feb. 18, 1950, at the Axtel Christian Hospital, Newton, Kans., after a 24-day illness; aged 76 y. 2 m. 21 d. At an early age he moved with his parents to Harvey Co., Kans., where he grew to manhood. On Dec. 25, 1900, he was united in marriage to Amelia Ann Byler. To this union were born 7 sons and 2 daughters. With the exception of four years spent at Brandon, Colo., Harvey Co. has been the family home. In his business as a cattle buyer he made many friends, who remember him as an honest man. He was converted at an early age and united with the Mennonite Church, taking a firm stand for Christ. He was known for his friendly and generous spirit, always contributing generously to the interest of the Kingdom and ready always to testify for his Saviour. He was a kind and loving husband and father. Surviving are his companion , 9 children (Earl C., and Ethel, Brawley, Calif.; John H., Newton, Kans.; Reuben J., Fort Worth, Tex.; Mary Louthan, Rose Hill, Kans.; Chester E., Delbert B., Ralph E., Salina, Kans.; and Ross, at home), 3 sisters (Sarah Holderman, La Junta, Colo.; Susie Yoder, and Martha Hartzler, Windom, Kans.), 23 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a large number of other relatives and friends. His parents and 3 sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Feb. 21 at the Pennsylvania Church by Earl Buckwalter and Roland Ritter.

Imhoff. --- Samuel P., son of John and Mary (Smith) Imhoff, was born in Woodford Co., near Metamora, Ill., March 18, 1877; passed away at his home near Lowpoint, Ill., Feb. 26, 1950; aged 72 y. 11 m. 8 d. On Jan. 18, 1900 he was united in marriage to Nora Garber, of Lowpoint. Surviving are his wife, 3 sons and 2 daughters (Esther and Ruth, Lowpoint, Ill.; Peter, Washington, Ill.; Ralph, Eureka, Ill.; and Sanford, Lowpoint.), 7 grandchildren, and 2 sisters (Mrs. David Schertz, Eureka, Ill.; and Mrs. Peter B. Schrock, of Lowpoint). In his youth he united with the Mennonite Church, remaining a faithful member until death. He was greatly interested in the work of the Lord and at various times served as teacher and superintendent of the Sunday school. For a number of years he served as a member of the Illinois District Mission Board. He took special interest in extension Sunday-school work, serving as a promoter and charter worker in the establishment of the Sunday school at Richland. To him the Word of God was authoritative and his decisions in life were based largely upon Biblical teaching. His intimate relationship with the Lord was expressed in his devotional life in the home as well as in the church; to him the family altar was an integral part of his home life. Funeral services were held Feb. 28 at the Imhoff residence and at the Metamora Church, conducted by J. N. Kaufman and Ezra B. Yoder. Interment was made in the Hickory Point Cemetery.

Kauffman. ­ Rebecca Ellen, daughter of Gideon and Salina Sharp, was born at Belleville, Pa., April 22, 1873; passed away in her sleep, at her home in Hesston, Kans., Feb. 27, 1950; aged 76 y. 10 m. 5 d. On Jan. 7, 1896, she was married to Levi C. Kauffman at Garden City, Mo. He preceded her in death April 28, 1945. Surviving are 7 children (Milo, Hesston, Kans.; John, Corvallis, Oreg.; Archie, Lebanon, Oreg.; Lina-Mrs. M. S. Snyder, Hammett, Idaho; George, Tangent, Oreg.; Edward, Alden, N. Y.; and Eva Mae-Mrs. Raymond Jaques, Hesston), all of whom were present for the funeral. The oldest daughter (Pearl-Mrs. J. E. Harshbarger) preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1927. One son and 2 daughters died in infancy. She had 37 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She leaves 6 sisters (Mollie Bobb, Newton, Kans.; Sadie Detwiler, Westover, Md.; Mattie Kauffman, Hubbard, Oreg.; Lina Zook, Fairview, Mich.; Nettie Kauffman, Glendive, Mont.; and Stella Lehman, Goshen, Ind.), and one brother (Elmer Sharp, Fairview Mich.). In her youth she became a Christian and united with the Mennonite Church, of which she was a faithful member until death. In 1899 she with her husband and two small children moved from Missouri to North Dakota, where they made their home until moving to Hesston in 1940. She was a faithful wife and loving mother and will always be appreciated and cherished in the memories of her children. Funeral services were in charge of John P. Duerksen, Jess Kauffman, and M. A. Yoder. Burial was made in the Zimmerdale Mennonite Cemetery.

Walker. ---Sarah Jane, daughter of A. J. and Sarah Guthrie, was born Dec. 23, 1881, near Deer Run, W. Va.; died at her home, near Ft. Seybert, W. Va., Feb. 28, 1950; aged 68 y. 2 m. 5 d. In her youth she confessed Christ as her Saviour and became a member of the Mennonite Church, of which she remained a member until death. In 1900 she was married to Henry Walker, who preceded her in death in April, 1942. Surviving are three sons (Ira, Chester, Pa.; George, at home; Edgar, Linwood, Pa.), 3 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Just a few weeks before her death she gave a clear testimony of her readiness to meet her Lord. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church, Ft. Seybert, W. Va., in charge of Lloyd Hartzler, assisted by Timothy Showalter and Ernest Gehman. Text: I Cor. 15 : 22. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Weaver. --- Susie Mae, daughter of Rufus M. and Ella Mae (Good) Weaver, Ephrata, Pa., was born Aug. 16, 1949; passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital, Feb. 28, 1950, after a two-day illness, of acute gastroenteritis; aged 6 m. 12 d. Surviving are her parents, 2 sisters and two brothers (Ruth Ann, Richard, Mildred, and David), and 4 grandparents (Barton and Lizzie Good, Narvon, Pa.; and David O. Weaver, Ephrata, Pa.). Funeral services were held March 3 at the home by Howard Z. Good and at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church by Moses Gehman and Benjamin Weaver. Text: Mark 10: 14. Beck. --- Lemon L., son of David and Sarah (Lehman) Beck was born July 30, 1854, at Manheim, Lancaster Co., Pa.; died Feb. 18, 1950, at his home near Peabody, Kans.; aged 95 y. 6 m. 19 d. Death followed several strokes. On Sept. 10, 1878, he was unite in marriage to Kate Graybill of the Cross Roads Church, Richfield, Snyder Co., Pa., by a Lutheran minister. This union was blessed with 6 children, all of whom survive (Harris G., Mason City, Ill., temporarily of Glendale, Calif.; Howard G., Kearney, Nebr.; Anna Horst, Peabody, Kans.; Edna Selzer, Canton, Kans.; Thad S., Hesston, Kans.; and J. Lester, Peabody, Kans.). Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren. He had one brother (Thaddeus S., a deacon in the Brethren Church at Manheim, Pa.), and one sister (Sophia-Mrs. Harry Gish, of Fayetteville, Pa.), both of whom predeceased him. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his companion, who passed away Jan. 28, 1936. His school days were spent in the Jacob Bloucher school near Manheim, Pa. His father and grandfather Beck were members of the Lutheran Church at White Oak, and his mother and her parents (Deacon Samuel Lemans) were members of Hernley Mennonite Church, both near Manheim, Pa. Having learned milling from his uncle at the Daniel Lehman Mill near Chambersburg, Pa., after marriage he operated a mill on Conestoga River, near Lancaster City, several years and then operated the D. B. Landis Mill on the Lampeter Road on Mill Creek about four years. While living at the Landis Mill, he and his companion united with the Mellinger Mennonite Church near Lancaster, being baptized by Bishop Isaac Eby. He was a member of a group of thirty-three who chartered a railroad car from Mount Joy, Pa., and traveled to Kansas on an inspection tour in the spring of 1884. At that time he bought a farm north of Peabody. In March, 1885, he and his wife and their three oldest children moved to this farm, which has been his home continuously. They were pioneer members of the Catlin Mennonite Church. He helped to build the church building in the fall of 1886 and helped in the fiftieth anniversary program on Nov. 22, 1936. When Deacon E. C. Weaver moved away, he was called to the office of deacon for the Catlin congregation, chosen by lot and ordained by Bishop Benjamin Hamilton on May 6, 1895. He served the church faithfully and conscientiously for almost fifty-five years. During these years he had the joy of assisting to receive as members 5 of his children, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandsons. He was happy to see two of his grandsons ordained to the ministry in this church. His oldest son (Harris) has served over forty years in the ministry in the Methodist Church. He had a deep concern and interest in the church as a whole, as well as in the home congregation. He gave many years of service in various capacities, as Sunday-school superintendent and teacher, church janitor, moderator of the quarterly Sunday School Conference, Mission Board member, treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Catlin Church, president of the Mission board of the Kansas-Nebraska Conference district, and on various conference committees. He was a devoted husband and a good father and grandfather, always interested in the spiritual and temporal welfare of his family and of his associates. He took a deep interest in world missions and relief work. Outstanding among his characteristics, were humility, faithfulness, dependability, hospitality, industry, punctuality, and earnest zeal in Christian living. His heath had begun to fail several years ago, following an eye operation; for over a year he was unable to read. He anticipated death as one seeks his couch after the strain of a busy day. He died as he had lived-with the settled peace of God. Funeral services, held Feb. 22, were in charge of his grandson, Laurence Horst, G. G. Yoder assisted at the home, Milo Kauffman preached the sermon at the Catlin Church, and Earl Buckwalter officiated at the graveside in the Pennsylvania Mennonite Church Cemetery, near Hesston, Kans.

Christner. --- Harriet Elizabeth, daughter of George and Barbara Renner, was born Feb. 26, 1889, in New Bedford, Ohio; died at her late home near Topeka, Ind., March 2, 1950; aged 61 y. 5 d. She was united in marriage to Eddranis D. Christner on Oct. 18, 1908. To this union were born 4 sons (Glen, Goshen, Ind.; LeRoy, at home; George, Elkhart, Ind.; Verla, of Topeka) and 2 daughters (Ida, at home; and Irene, who preceded her mother in death). Besides her husband and children she leave 6 grandchildren, 2 sisters (Mrs. Otis Mehl, Shipshewana, Ind.; and Mrs. Ida Paulus, Ligonier, Ind.), and 2 brothers (Milo and Nolen Renner, both of Ligonier). She accepted Christ and became a member of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until death. Funeral services were held March 4 at the Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Topeka, Ind., conducted by Amos Hostetler and Edwin J. Yoder. Burial was made in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Conrad. --- Anna, daughter of the late Joseph and Lydia (Schloneger) Krabill, was born near Maximo, Stark Co., Ohio, April 30, 1857; died at the home of her daughter (Mrs. Katie Clapper), Louisville, Ohio, March 6, 1950; aged 92 y. 10 m. 6 d. At the age of sixteen she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Beech Mennonite Church, in which fellowship she continued faithful until death. On March 6, 1879, she was united in marriage to Christian Conrad. To this union were born 3 sons and 7 daughters. Her husband preceded her in death in 1912. Two sons (Homer Edward and an infant), 3 daughters (Lydia Clara, and Esther), 5 grandchildren, and 4 sisters also preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of Stark Co. For a number of years she was confined to her home because of her physical condition; she lost her eyesight about six years ago. On March 2, she suffered a stroke, and a few days later took bronchial pneumonia, which caused her death. She was the oldest member of the Beech Church for many years. Surviving are 4 daughters (Mrs. Katie Clapper, Ella-Mrs. Noah Schmucker, Laura-Mrs. Levi Linder, all of Louisville, Ohio; Ada-Mrs. Homer Graber, Canton, Ohio), one son (Aaron, Louisville, Ohio), 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one brother (John Krabill, Louisville, Ohio), and a large number of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Beech Mennonite Church, in charge of O.N. Johns. Text: II Tim.4: 6-8. Interment was made in the Warstler Cemetery.

Eshleman. --- Eli M., son of the late Eli M. and Susan (Meck) Eshleman, was born. Oct. 24, 1865, near Marticville, Lancaster Co., Pa.; died at the home of his son (Howard), Willow Street, Lancaster Co., Pa., March 1, 1950; aged 84 y. 4 m. 7 d. His wife (Ida Heidlebach Eshelman) preceded him in death in 1923. A son (Chester) and daughter (Barbara) also predeceased him. Surviving are 9 children (Jacob, Grace-Mrs. Maris Hess, Howard, Faith-Mrs. Aaron Shank, John, Cora-Mrs. Clayton Haverstick, May-Mrs. Benjamin Sangrey, Ida-Mrs. Maynard Warfel, Verna-Mrs. Abram Mylin, all of Lancaster Co., Pa.) one sisters (Mrs. Lydia Eshleman), 25 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Byerland Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held March 5 at the home by James Hess and at the Byerland Church by D. Stoner Krady and Henry Nauman. Text: Acts 13: 36. Garber. ­Sarah Adaline, daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Snyder) Grove, was born March 4, 1872, at Benson, Ill.; passed away March 2, 1950, at the home of her son (Lloyd); aged 77 y. 11 m. 28 d. Death followed several months' illness from a rheumatic heart condition. On Dec. 5, 1893, she was united in marriage to Leonard H. Garber at Cullom, Ill. He preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1940. In March, 1895, they moved to Jackson, Minn., and were charter members of the Mennonite Church which was soon established there. With the exception of the past few years, when she spent her winters with her son-in-law and Daughter (Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Gascho, Wood River, Nebr.), Jackson, Minn., has been her home. Surviving are 7 children (Earnest Steward, Nampa, Idaho; Edwin Guy, John Clinton, Lloyd Harvey, and Marvin Samuel, all of Jackson, Minn.; Clyde Eugene, Manson, Iowa; and Cora Irene-Mrs. Alvin Gascho, Wood River, Nebr.), a brother (John M. Grove, Hesston, Kans.), a sister (Cora-Mrs. C. J. Garber, Alpha, Minn.), 8 grandsons, 11 granddaughters, and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were half brother (Joe Cox) and a half sister (Elizabeth Cox). Having been converted in her youth and being a faithful member of the Mennonite Church until her death, gave her many years to serve her Lord. Her loved ones who remain have precious memories of a life given sacrificingly for the good of others. Funeral services were held at the home of her son (Edwin), March 5 by Alvin Gascho and at the Alpha Mennonite Church by Noah Landis and C. J. Garber. Her sons were the pallbearers. Interment was made in the Riverside Cemetery, near Jackson, Minn.

Geil. --- Annie R., daughter of the late N. W. and Catherine (Neff) Beery, was born at Edom, Va., Oct. 12, 1866; passed away at her home near Broadway, Va., March 6, 1950; aged 83 y. 4 m. 24 d. On Dec. 8, 1885, she was united in marriage to Joseph W. Geil, who preceded her in death in December, 1945. Two sons (Edwin and Paul) and one grandson also predeceased her. Surviving are 4 children (N. Wilmer, Arthur D., Anna E., at home; Kitty-Mrs. S. A. Shank, Linville, Va.), 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters (Mrs. S. L. Hoover, Harrisonburg, Va.; and Mrs. D. A. Swank, Edom, Va.), and a number of nieces and nephews. A faithful and lifelong number of the Mennonite Church, she was always glad for an opportunity to serve her Lord in any way she could, especially in helping the needy. She was concerned for the unsaved and was devoted to her family. Funeral services were held March 8 at her home and at the Lindale Mennonite Church by John L. Stauffer and Timothy Showalter. Helmuth. ­ Gideon D. Helmuth, was born in Holmes Co., Ohio, Dec. 26, 1871; died in the Aultman Hospital, Canton, Ohio, March 5, 1950; aged 78y. 2 m. 10 d. At the age of eighteen he accepted Christ as his Saviour, was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church. In 1899 he was united in marriage to Barbara Beachey. To this union were born 2 daughters (Iva and Lizzie) and 4 sons (Gilbert, Calvin, and Alvin, and Atlee). His companion preceded him in death Jan.1, 1911. Two daughters and one son (Calvin) also predeceased him. On Feb. 18, 1912, he was united in marriage to Fannie Miller, also of Holmes Co. To this union were born 5 daughters (Wilma, Mary, Ruth, Naomi, and Orpha). Ruth preceded him in death at the age of fifteen. His parents, 4 brothers, 5 sisters, and one grandchild also preceded him in death. In 1921 he moved with his family from Holmes Co., to Portage Co., Ohio. In 1930 they moved to Virginia and in 1942 to Stark Co., Ohio, where he resided until his death. At this time he made his church home with the Beech congregation, continuing faithful until death. He took great interest in the church, and remained quite active until last October, when he was afflicted with intestinal flu, from which he did not fully recover. Death was caused by pneumonia. Surviving are his companion, 3 sons (Gilbert, Hudson, Ohio; Alvin, Louisville, Ohio; and Atlee, Aurora, Ohio), 4 daughters (Wilma-Mrs. Lloyd Roth and Mary-Mrs. Oliver Zehr, both of Lebanon, Oreg.; Naomi-Mrs. Kenneth Sommers, Louisville, Ohio; and Orpha-Mrs. Ivan Miller, Fentress, Va.), 19 grandchildren, one sister (Mrs. Fred Miller, Millersburg, Ohio) and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home and at the Beech Mennonite Church in the forenoon and at the Martins Creek Mennonite Church in the afternoon, in charge of O. N. Johns and D. D. Miller. Miller. --- Henry E., son of the late Henry L. and Elizabeth (Erb) Miller, was born June 3, 1872, in West Donegal Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.; passed away March 13, 1950, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter (Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ebersole, Florin, Pa.); aged 77 y. 9 m. 10 d. He was a member of the Bossler Mennonite Church, Rheems, Pa.; Henry N., Mt. Joy, Pa.; Christian N., Elizabethtown, Pa.), a sister (Mrs. Annie Ebersole, Elizabethtown), a brother (Benjamin, Newton, Kans.), and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 17 at the Bossler Mennonite Church, in charge of Martin Kraybill and Noah Risser. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Petroccelli. --- Angel Petroccelli was born in Pehuajo, Argentina, Oct. 6, 1915; died at the Neurosurgical Institute in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Feb. 19, 1950; aged 34 y. 4 m. 13 d. On Jan. 5, 1944, he was married to Nelly Garcia, who survives. Also surviving are 2 children (Angel and Abel). He was a faithful attendant at kindergarten, Sunday School, and Bible study during his early years and at the age of eighteen he was received into the church by baptism. In 1941 he graduated from medical school and for several years practiced in San Luis, Argentina. He remained true to his faith and was very much appreciated by the entire town. A year ago he had a cerebral hemorrhage and had to be taken by plane to Buenos Aires. After a few months of rest he seemed to have fully recovered. On the first day of assuming his new duties at the Pirovano Hospital in Buenos Aires, he had another hemorrhage. In spite of all that science could do for him, his condition became more critical and after two weeks he passed away. Funeral services were held Feb. 21, at the Pehuajo Mennonite Church by Nelson Litwiller, J. W. Shank, and Amos Swartzentruber.

Price. --- Maude, daughter of Noah and Lucinda Shank, was born in Indiana July 25, 1891; died March 7, 1950; at the South Side Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio; aged 58 y. 7 m. 12 d. She lived only five days after suffering a stroke. One Aug. 22, 1908, she was married to Jasper Price, who with 3 daughters and one son survives her. She was a member of the North Lima Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held March 9 at the Fry Funeral Home, Columbiana, Ohio, with A. J. and David Steiner, officiating. Burial was made in the Midway Cemetery.

Bartchy. --- Fred Bartchy was born April 15, 1860, in Columbiana Co., Ohio; died March 9, 1950; aged 89 y. 10 m. 24 d. He died at the home of Louis Amstutz, near Kidron, Ohio, where he had made his home the last five years. Death followed a lingering illness which he bore very patiently. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was married Jan. 12, 1882. This union was blessed with one daughter. His wife and daughter died in1885. Most of his life was spent in Wayne Co., Ohio. On Sept. 16, 1945, he was received into the Sonnenberg Mennonite Church, Dalton, Ohio, of which he was member at the time of his death. Funeral services were held March 11 at the Sonnenberg Church. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Louis Amstutz and Jacob Neuenschwander officiated.

Burkey. --- Emil A., son of Valentine and Magdalena (Saltzman) Burkey, was born in Roanoke, Ill., Aug. 27, 1880; passed away at his home in Lebanon, Oreg., March 9, 1950; aged 69 y. 6 m. 22 d. He accepted Christ as his Saviour in his youth, and united with the Mennonite Church. He was a faithful member, attending church whenever possible, and being willing and ready to help whenever he could. He moved with his parents to Nebraska. Aug. 24, 1903, he was married to Lena Stutzman. To this union were born 8 children (William and Harry, Shedd, Oreg.; Edith Stauffer, Lebanon, Oreg.; Barbara Zimmerman, Milford, Nebr.; Hazel Burkey, Lebanon; Mabel Birky, Sweet Home, Oreg.; Norma Carrels, La Crosse, Wis.; and Ruby Glendenning, of Lebanon.). In 1919 he moved to Colorado, and in 1948 to Oregon, where he spent the remainder of his life. His parents preceded him in death. He leaves his wife, 8 children, 22 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, 3 sisters and one brother (Barbara Ehrisman and Mary Teuscher, Milford, Nebr.; Katie Spencer, Normal, Ill.; Joe E. Burkey, Bloomington, Ill.), one stepbrother (John Schrock, Normal, Ill.), one stepsister (Kate Man), and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Fairview Mennonite Church in charge of N. M. Birky, with Jesse J. Short preaching the sermon.

Conrad. --- Jonas E., son of the late Eli and Anna (Becher) Conrad, was born in Washington Twp., Stark Co., Ohio, March 12, 1864; died at his home, on the same farm on which he was born, March 9, 1950; aged 85 y. 11 m. 27 d. In the year 1882 he accepted Christ as his Saviour, was baptized and united with the Beech Mennonite Church, continuing faithful until death. On Jan. 27, 1887, he was united in marriage to Katie Bacher, who died in 1942. To this union were born a daughter and a son. With the exception of a few years, he lived on the same farm all of his life. He was active and busy, and was able to be about just before his passing. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. His parents, companions, infant son (Harvey), brother, 2 sisters, and one grandson preceded him in death. Surviving are his daughter (Mary-Mrs. Byron Schmucker, with whom he made his home), 2 grandsons, on great-grandson, 3 nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home and at the Beech Mennonite Church. In charge of O. N. Johns. Text: Eccl. 9: 5. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Erb. --- John S., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Erb, was born near Baden, Ont., May 21, 1872; died at Kitchener, Ont., March 9, 1950; aged 77 y. 9 m. 9 d. He was a member of the Shantz Mennonite Church from youth. Surviving are his wife (Leah Albrecht), 2 daughters (Beatrice-Mrs. Elmore Brenner, Kitchener; Pearl-Mrs. Frank Rempel, Waterloo, Ont.), and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Shantz Mennonite Church, Baden, conducted by L. H. Witmer and M. H. Roth, on March 12. His body was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

Frey.--- Elmina Leoria, daughter of Ben and Katie (Miller) Frey, of Plain City, Ohio, was born March 6, 1950; died at Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, March 9, 1950; aged 3 d. Surviving are her parents, twin brothers and 2 sisters (Mary Kathryn, Samuel Ray and Daniel Jay, Christine Ann), 4 grandparents (Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Frey). Funeral services were held at the home in charge of Abram Kaufman. Interment was made in the Sharon Cemetery, Plain City, Ohio.

Groff. --- David, son of the late Martin and Elizabeth (Hershey) Groff, was born June 23, 1876, in Salisbury Twp., Lancaster Co, Pa.; passed away March 8, 1950, at his home in Kinzers, Lancaster Co., Pa.; aged 73 y. 8 m. 13 d. Death was sudden, caused by chronic myocarditis. Surviving are his wife (Annie Leaman Groff) and 7 children (Mae L.-Mrs. Isaac Metzler, Manheim, Pa.; Lenora L.-Mrs. Earl Jones, Gordonville, Pa.; Martin H., Gap, Pa.; Hershey L, Ronks, Pa.; Alice-Mrs. John Crouse, Gap, Pa.; Earl L., Ronks; and Ruth A., at home). He accepted Christ as his Saviour in his youth and united with the Hershey Mennonite Church, Lancaster Co., Pa. Funeral services were held at the Broun Funeral Home, Paradise, on March 11, with Parke Book in charge and at the Hershey Mennonite Church, with Clair Eby in charge. Text: Ps. 37: 7a. Holaway. ---Jacob, son of John M. and Isabelle (Cain) Holaway, was born in Jefferson Twp. Kosciusko Co., Ind., on Sept. 6, 1867; died at his home, after an illness of seven hours, on March 8, 1950; aged 82 y. 6 m.2 d. On Nov. 1, 1891, he was united in marriage to Sophia Bleile. With the exception of one year, he was a lifelong resident of the home built by his father on the Holaway homestead near Nappanee, Ind. He became a member of the North Main Street Mennonite Church, Nappanee, in 1891, and was a faithful member until death. Surviving are his widow, 4 sons (Clarence J. and Lewis of Nappanee; Fred and John, of Akron, Ind.), 3 daughters (Mrs. C. A. Mast and Mrs. Lester Miller, of Nappanee; and Mrs. Tillman Neuhauser, of Eureka, Ill.), 31 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the North Main Street Church in Nappanee by Homer F. North, assisted by Ezra Yordy.

Hunsberger. --- Angelina, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Enoch Erb, was born Dec. 7, 1866; died at her home, near Baden, Ont., March 9, 1950; aged 83 y. 3m. 2 d. On Sept. 17,1889, she was married to Enos S. Hunsberger, who predeceased her April 3, 1929. She was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church for forty- five years and took a keen interest in its welfare. Although she was handicapped with failing sight for a number of years, her letters were at inspiration to many. She leaves 2 daughters (Nora-Mrs. Dilman Snyder, Waterloo, Ont.; May-Mrs. Edmund Cressman, New Hamburg, Ont.), and one son (Eldon, of Baden, on whose farm she resided for twenty-two years), 14 grandchildren, 4 stepgrandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted March 13 at the home and at the Shantz Mennonite Church by L. H. Witmer and M. H. Roth. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Miller. --- Mary, daughter of Jost and Anna Miller, was born near Saltillo, Ohio, Aug. 10, 1861; passed away at her home in Berlin, Ohio, March 5, 1950; aged 88 y. 6m. 23 d. On Nov. 23, 1878, she was married to Samuel D. Miller, who died May 30, 1946. In her youth she united with the Mennonite Church and was a faithful member until death. Surviving are 4 sons and 2 daughters (Dan W., at home; Gilbert, Mrs. Jacob Kaser, and Mrs. Lincoln Yoder, all of Berlin, Ohio; Melvin and Alvin, Millersburg, Ohio), 38 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Two sons and 3 daughters (Harrison, Etta Mast, Alice and two infants) preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the home by Earl E. Miller, and at the Matins Creek Church by Simon Sommers and D. D. Miller.

Riehl. --- Christian S. Riehl was born Nov. 1, 1862; died March 1, 1950; aged 87y. 4 m. Death followed a lingering illness of about five months, resulting from a fall on Sept.22, 1949. On Feb. 7, 1889, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Stoltzfus, who passed away March 17, 1949. He was a member of the Conestoga A. M. Church, near Morgantown, Pa., for many years. Surviving are 2 children (Sadie, at home; John M., Ephrata, Pa.), 2 adopted children (Marie-Mrs. Clarence Helmuth, Elverson, Pa.; and Edward, Allentown, Pa.), and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 4 at the Conestoga A. M. Church, in charge of David Yoder and C. J. Kurtz. Text: II Cor. 5: 1. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Risher. ---George W., son of Frank and Mary (Beener) Risher, died Feb. 25, 1950, in Bedford, Pa. Surviving are 2 brothers (H. A. and L. L., both of Johnstown, Pa.), 2 sons (Frederick, Geistown, Pa., and George, Jr., Windber, Pa.), 2 daughters (Margaret-Mrs. Louis L. Clark, Ferndale, Pa., and Katharine-Mrs. George Duman, Baltimore, Md.), and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 28 at the Hay Funeral Home, Boswell, Pa., by Aldus Wingard and James Saylor. Burial was made in the Thomas Mennonite Cemetery.

Short. ­Joseph S., son of Daniel and Anna (Stuckey) Short, was born near Archbold, Fulton Co., Ohio, April 14, 1866; departed from his life at the Bryan Hospital, March 8, 1950; aged 83 y. 10 m. 22 d. Death followed an illness of five years. On Feb. 4, 1892, he was united in marriage to Jannie Nofziger, who passed away in 1935. Surviving are one daughter and 2 sons (Phebe-Mrs. Ben Bowers, Archbold, Ohio; Seth, West Unity, Ohio; and Alfred, Archbord, Ohio), 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, one brother (Jonas, Stryker, Ohio), one sister (Martha-Mrs. Sam Aschliman, Archbold, Ohio), and many other relatives and friends. His parents, his companion, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters preceded him in death. As a young man he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and united with the Mennonite Church, remaining faithful until death. He was much interested in the work of the church and served a number of years as trustee of the Lockport congregation. The last twenty-three years he made his home with his daughter and her husband. His last illness of four weeks in the hospital was spent with much patience and a longing desire to go home to his Lord. It was always a joy to him to visit with friends and relatives and he spent much of his later years in this way. He was a kind, Christian father. Funeral services were held March 11, at the home and at the Lockport Church, in charge of Simon Stuckey, D.W. Garber, and Walter Stuckey. Burial was made in the Lockport Cemetery.

Yoder. ­Lee U., son of the late Rudy G. and Mattie (Hartzler) Yoder, was born at Belleville, Pa., Dec. 25, 1918; passed away at the Lewistown Hospital March 8, 1950; aged 31 y. 2 m. 12 d. He was a patient in the hospital nine days, suffering from virus pneumonia. Death was caused by pulmonary embolism. Surviving are his wife (the former Verna Kanagy), 2 daughters and one son (Anne, Mary Ellen, and Lae Marlin), 2 half brothers and 5 half sisters (Percy, Mark, Ruth, and Catherine Yoder, Bertha-Mrs. Jacob I. Yoder, Minnie-Mrs. John S. Zook, all of Belleville, Pa.; and Sadie-Mrs. Louis Peachey, Reedsville, Pa.). He was a kind and loving husband and father, a friend to all who knew him, and was a member of the Locust Grove Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at the Locust Grove Church March 10, in charge of Raymond Peachey and Emanuel Peachey. Interment was made in the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Auker. --- Fannie, daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Musser) Shelley, was born Sept. 17, 1874; departed this life March 11, 1950; aged 75 y. 5 m. 21 d. The widow of the late Enoch Auker, she is survived by one brother, two stepsons, and one stepdaughter. Funeral services were held at the Susquehanna Mennonite Church, with the sermon by W. W. Graybill. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Detweiler. ­ Christian H., son of Christian and Mary Detweiler, was born in Gridley, Ill., Jan. 13, 1866; passed away at the hospital in Geneva, Nebr., March 12, 1950; aged 84 y. 1 m. 29 d. He was a member of the Mennonite Church from the time of his youth, when he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour; he remained faithful till death. In 1888 he was united in marriage to Barbara Eigsti, who passed away Jan. 31, 1902. To this union were born six daughters. Two daughters (Mary and Ella) and his first wife preceded him in death. Surviving are 4 daughters (Mrs. Susie Springer, Mrs. Lydia Saltzman, Mrs. Nellie Reeb, of Shickley, Nebr.; and Mrs. Barbara Reeb, of Eureka, Ill.). On Oct. 16, 1902, he was united in marriage to Mary Birkey, who survives. To this union were born 4 children (Edwin, Milford, Nebr.; Fred, Scottsbluff, Nebr.; Mrs. Lavern Roth, Filer, Idaho; and Perry, at home.). Also surviving are 3 stepchildren (Mrs. Lydia Roth, Jacob Birkey, of Delavan, Ill.; Joe Birkey of Milford, Nebr.), 28 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 16 stepgrandchildren, 13 stepgreat-grandchildren, one brother (Valentine Detweiler, Thomas, Okla.), and many other relatives and friends. One brother and 3 sisters preceded him in death. He was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. Funeral services were held at his home and at the Salem Mennonite Church, Shickley, Nebr., March 24, conducted by P. R. Kennel, assisted by Ammon Miller and Lee Schlegel. Text: Gen. 15: 15. Harnish. --- Enos C., son of Amos K. and Lizzie (Charles) Harnish, was born Sept. 25, 1879; passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital March 10, 1950; aged 70 y. 5 m. 15 d. Jan. 18, 1908, he was married to Ella Kreider, who passed away March 20, 1926. Surviving are 8 children (Mrs. Norman Weaver, Strasburg, Pa.; Aaron K., Willow Street, Pa.; Amos, Ansonville, Pa.; Mrs. Sanford Landis, Strasburg, Pa.; Clayton K., Willow Street; Mrs. Elvin Kreider, Willow Street; Lloyd K. and Parke K., also of Willow Street), 15 grandchildren, one brother and one sister. One son passed away Oct. 15, 1936. On March 20, 1928, he was married to Barbara Harnish, who survives. He was a member of the Byerland Church, Willow Street, Pa. The funeral service was conducted by Henry Nauman, Maris Hess, and James Hess.

Hochstetler. --- Milo E., son of Eli and Elizabeth (Troyer) Hochstetler, was born in Madison Co.,Ohio, Jan. 15, 1909; met death when the truck he was driving was hit by a freight train near Nappanee, Ind., March 10, 1950; aged 41 y. 1 m. 25 d. At the age of eighteen months he moved with his parents to the vicinity of Nappanee, Ind., where he resided until the last three years, part of which time he spent in North Dakota. He was married to Catherine Graber, of North Dakota, on Jan. 14, 1931. In August, 1931, he and his wife accepted Christ as their Saviour and united with the North Main Street Mennonite Church in Nappanee of which he remained a member until death. Two children (Vernon LaMar and Betty Lou) were born into this home. Surviving are his wife and 2 children, his mother (Mrs. David J. Miller, Lagrange, Ind.), 4 brothers (Daniel, Nappanee, Ind.; Isaac and Simon, both of Goshen, Ind.; and Eli, Fredericksburg, Ohio), 3 sisters (Mrs. Ida Geiz, Nappanee, Ind.; Mrs. Samuel Swartz, Howe, Ind.; and Mrs. Wyman Yoder, Dundee, Ohio), and a large number of other relatives and friends. May his death be to us a challenge of readiness to meet our Lord. Funeral services were held at the North Main Street Church in Nappanee, with Homer F. North in charge.

Lehman. --- Niles Wilmer, son of Benjamin and Emma (Martin) Lehman, of Croghan, N.Y., passed away March 13, 1950; aged 20 y. 6 m. 1 d. Death resulted suddenly and unexpectedly from monoxide poisoning. He united with the First Mennonite Church of New Bremen at the age of sixteen and remained a faithful member until death. He took great delight in singing. His place in services was seldom vacant; he will be greatly missed in his home and surrounding communities. Surviving are his parents, one sister (Vera-Mrs. Leslie Lyndaker, Croghan, N.Y.), and 3 brothers (Nevin, Beaver Falls; Myron, of Belfort; and Everett, at home). Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church of New Bremen March 16, conducted by Gordon Schrag. Interment was made in the Croghan Cemetery.

Lichty. --- Sarah Ann, daughter of the late Jacob E. and Rachel Reist, was born in Woolwich, Ont., June 11, 1874; passed away at the Kitchener and Waterloo Hospital, March 13, 1950; aged 75 y. 9 m. 2 d. Her husband (Benjamin W. Lichty) preceded her in death thirteen years ago. She is survived by one daughter (Iva-Mrs. Arthur Baker), one brother (Jacob H. Reist), and 4 grandchildren. One daughter (Mary) died in infancy. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church and had a quiet Christian demeanor, a gentle kindly disposition, and was loved and respected by all who knew her. The funeral took place at the First Mennonite Church, with the pastors in charge. C.F. Derstine brought a message of comfort. The body was buried in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Miller. --- David J., son of John C. and Fannie (Hostetler) Miller, was born in Johnson Co., Iowa, March 1, 1873; died in Lagrange Co., Ind., March 10, 1950; aged 77 y. 9 d.
He was married to Mattie Troyer Nov. 21, 1895. She died Feb. 12, 1897. One son (John, Lagrange, Ind.) was born to this union. On Dec. 12, 1897, he was married to Annie Nisley, who died Oct. 10, 1924. To this union were born 11 children. Surviving are 2 sons and 4 daughters (Henry, Goshen, Ind.; Lizzie-Mrs. Manas Lehman and Dan, Topeka, Ind.; Fannie-Mrs. Will Schmucker, and Mary-Mrs. Harley Bontrager, Lagrange, Ind.; Katie-Mrs. Abe Miller, Holmesville, Ohio), 32 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Seven grandchildren preceded him in death. His third marriage, Feb. 26, 1931, was to Elizabeth Hochstetler, who survives. Also surviving are 7 stepchildren (Dan and Ida, Nappanee, Ind.; Simon and Ike, Goshen, Ind.; Emma, Howe, Ind.; Sarah and Eli, Holmes Co., Ohio), 8 brothers, 3 sisters, and many other relatives and friends. One stepson (Milo) preceded him in death the same day. He was a member of the Amish Church. Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Dan Beechy, Dan Miller, and Dan Bontrager. Burial was made in the Clearsping Cemetery.

Sundheimer. --- John, son of the late William and Magdalena (Andler) Sundheimer, was born in Holmes Co., Ohio; passed away at his home in Sugarcreek, Ohio, following three months' illness and failing health, March 12, 1950; aged 78 y. 3 m. 12 d. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour and united with the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church, of which he was a member until death. He was a lifelong resident of the same community, having worked there as a stonemason for fifty-eight years. On Feb. 11, 1894, he was united in marriage to Sarah Gerber, who preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 1837*. Surviving are 6 sons and one daughter (Ray, Canton, Ohio; William, Dover, Ohio; Fred, Fresno, Ohio; Earl, Shanesville, Ohio; Chester, Sugarcreek, Ohio, Lester, Strasburg, Ohio; and Elva, at home), 17 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church March 14, with Paul R. Miller and A. W. Miller in charge. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Yoder.--- Lydian, daughter of Moses and Amanda (Helmuth) Schmucker, was born near Nappanee, Ind., Dec. 8, 1898; was instantly killed in an automobile accident near Nappanee, Ind., on March 13, 1950; aged 51 y. 3 m. 3 d. She was united in marriage to Simon J. Yoder on March 4, 1923, and together they enjoyed the blessings of this union for twenty-seven years. At the age of twenty she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Amish church; in 1935 she and her husband transferred their membership to the North Main Street Mennonite Church, Nappanee, where she was a faithful member until death. Three infant children (Joseph, Mary, and Amanda) preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband, 4 daughters (Esther, Glendale, Calif.; Sylvia, a student at Hesston College; Laura Mae and Dorothy, both at home), and many other relatives and friends. She showed great interest in those she loved and in the spiritual welfare of her family. Although she manifested a quiet spirit, her life was exemplary of Christian love and kindness. Funeral services were held at the North Main Street Church in Nappanee by Homer F. North, assisted by Ralph Stahly.

Bowman. --- Cora N., daughter of Israel B. and Anna S. Bowman, was born in Berks Co., Pa., on April 3, 1918; died March 19, 1950, at the Lancaster, Pa., General Hospital; aged 31 y. 11 m. 16 d. Death was attributed to Hodgkin's disease. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are 2 brothers (Harvy, Lititz, Pa.; Charles, East Earl, Pa.), 2 sisters (Alice and Edna-Mrs. Phares B. Rutt, both of Goodville, Pa.), 3 nephews, and 6 nieces. Funeral services were held at the Weaverland Mennonite Church March 22, in charge of Alvin Martin assisted by J. Paul Graybill. Burkholder. --- Allen J., son of Simon and Emma (Musser) Burkholder, was born in Smithville, Ohio, March 19, 1895; departed this life March 13, 1950; aged 54 y. 11 m. 24 d. He had not been well for some time, but was able to be about until the day of his death. He fell on the ice and fractured his hip in the morning, was taken to Beeson Hospital, Wooster, Ohio, and died there in the same evening. As a young man he was received into the fellowship of the Mennonite Church and was at the time of his death a faithful, active member of the Pleasant Hill congregation. On Jan. 2, 1920, he was united in marriage to Lemma Berkey, of Sterling, Ohio, who survives. He is also survived by his aged father, 3 sisters (Mrs. Adam Horner, Smithville, Ohio; Mrs. Raymond Hartzler, Bloomington, Ill.; and Mrs. Grace Lehman, Massillon, Ohio), one brother (Roy, Orrville, Ohio), 2 half brothers (Guy Burkholder, Smithville, Ohio; and Ray Burkholder, of Orville), and one half sister (Zorra Burkholder, Smithville). His mother preceded him in death on April 12, 1902. One sister and two brothers also predeceased him. Funeral services were held at the home near Smithville, Ohio, and at the Pleasant Hill Church on March 16 by Gerald C. Studer, William G. Detweiler, and D. R. McFadden. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Conrad. ­ Lena, daughter of Christian and Veronica Conrad, was born in Gornol-canton, Berne, Switzerland, Oct. 17, 1876; passed away at the home of her sister (Mary-Mrs. D. W. Good, Sterling, Ill.), March 10, 1950; aged 73 y. 4 m. 23 d. She came to America in 1886, and lived in Sterling, Ohio, until 1895, when the family moved to Wayland, Iowa. In 1919 she returned to Sterling to maker her home with her sister. Although she never had to the responsibility of caring for a home of her own, she served in many homes faithfully and sometimes sacrificially. In her youth she united with the Mennonite Church, in which faith and service she found her chief joy. Her church and her Lord were the center of her life, and all other things were subservient thereto. Surviving are 3 brothers (Cris and John, of Sterling, Ill.; Jacob, Venice, Calif.), one sister (Mary), 32 nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters (Mrs. Dan Roth, Albany, Oreg.; Mrs. Jacob Conrad, Sterling, Ohio; Mrs. Dan Graber, Goshen, Ind.), 2 brothers (Peter, Peoria, Ill.; and Joseph, who died in infancy). Funeral services were held at the Science Ridge Mennonite Church March 14, in charge of A. C. Good, assisted by J. D. Graber and Robert Keller.

Lehman. --- Abram L., son of the late Daniel and Annie (Shank) Lehman, was born Dec. 19, 1883; died at his home near Chambersburg, Pa., March 14 ,1950; aged 66 y. 2 m. 25 d. He had been in ill health for eleven months. He was a member of the Chambersburg Mennonite Church for almost fifty years. Surviving are his wife (Mary Lesher Lehman), one son (Reuel), 3 brothers (Peter L., Henry S., and Amos F., all of Chambersburg, Pa.), and 2 sisters (Lydia, Chambersburg, Pa.; and Mrs. Henry Horst, Morgansville, Md.). Funeral services were held March 17 at the Chambersburg Mennonite Church, in charge of Daniel E. Kuhns and Harold Hunsecker. Text: Rev. 14:12, 13. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Martin. --- John H., son of Daniel M. and Sallie V. Martin, was born May 11, 1898; died March 12, 1950, at his home near State Line, Pa., after a short illness of a heart condition; aged 51 y. 10 m. 1 d. In 1919, he was united in marriage to Ruth Gearhart. To this union were born 6 children. One daughter preceded him in death. Surviving are his companion, 2 sons and 3 daughters (Harold D., Hagerstown, Md.; J. Kenneth and Joan E., at home; Mrs. Olan C. Brake, Nebraska; Mrs. Wade Tumm, Hagerstown, Md), and 3 grandchildren. He accepted Christ as his Saviour Feb. 26, 1950. He applied for membership at the Cedar Grove Mennonite Church and was to be baptized March 16. Funeral services were held at the Kauffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, Md., in charge of Abram Baer and a minister of the Church of the Brethren. Interment was made in the Rest Haven Cemetery.

Miller. --- Emanuel J., son of Benjamin and Barbara (Otto) Miller, was born in Anderson Co., Kans., March 14, 1912; departed from this life March 17, 1950; aged 38 y. 3 d. Death was due to suffocation caused by a crushed chest which he suffered while making repairs on his car, at his home, near Colon, Mich. On Dec. 24, 1937, he was married to Anna Amstutz who survives. Also surviving are 5 children (Lewis Eugene, Phyllis ReJean, Raul Edward, Thomas Lee, Betty Carolyn), a brother (Noah, Goshen, Ind.), 2 sisters (Mrs. Lowell Whitlock, Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Susan Miller, Goshen, Ind.), 2 half brother (John Overholt, of Iowa, and Eli Overholt, Nottawa, Mich.), 7 half sisters (Mrs. Jake Miller, of Illinois; Mrs. Harvey Miller, Middlebury, Ind.; Mrs. Enos Bontrager, Shipshewana, Ind.; Mrs. John Beachy, of Kansas; Mrs. Katie Schrock and Mrs. Nancy Miller of Tennessee; Mrs. Eli P. Miller of Centerville, Mich.). His parents and 2 sisters preceded him in death. As a young man he accepted Christ and was baptized, becoming a member of the Mennonite Church. He was a charter member of the Locust Grove Church in Michigan. The last thirty-one years of his life were spent near Colon, Mich., where he moved with his parents as a small boy. Funeral services were held March 20 at the Locust Grove Church, with Orvin Hooley and Lee J. Miller officiating. Burial was made in the Findley Cemetery near the Mennonite Church at Findley, Michigan.

Myers. --- Maude M., daughter of Abraham and Mattie King, was born March 29, 1889, near West Liberty, Ohio; died of a heart condition at the Geneva, Pa., Hospital March 14, 1950, one week after undergoing an apparently successful operation; aged 60 y. 11 m. 14 d. On Nov. 23, 1919, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Myers, then of Minot, N. Dak. Their second son (Tillman) was instantly killed by lightning at the age of seventeen. Surviving are her husband, 2 sons (Willies and Mark), 4 grandchildren, one sister and 5 brothers (Lydia, widow of Frank Kauffman, of Garden City, Mo.; Aaron, West Liberty, Ohio; Abe, Harrisonburg, Va.; Irvin, Malvern, Pa.; Rudolph, Columbus, Ohio; and Nelson, Fairpoint, Ohio), and a large number of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. In her youth she accepted Christ as her Lord and united with the South Union Mennonite Church near West Liberty, Ohio, transferring her membership to the Fairview congregation near Minot, N. Dak., in 1929 and to the Sunnyside congregation near Conneaut Lake, Pa., in 1940. She continued faithful until death. She was a faithful daughter to her parents, caring for them tenderly until their passing. She was a faithful wife, a kind and loving mother, a careful, competent housekeeper and homemaker, who loved to entertain friends and strangers whenever possible. Above all, she was a faithful Christian and did what she could to help in the work of the church. Funeral services were conducted at the Sunnyside Mennonite Church, near Conneaut Lake, Pa., by Daniel Johns and Jacob Oswald. Text: I Thess. 4:13-18. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Nahrgang. --- Esther Nahrgang, was born in Waterloo Twp., Ont., Jan. 20, 1859; died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., March 19, 1950; aged 91 y. 1 m. 29 d. Her husband (Josias Nahrgang) passed away in 1926. Three children (Melinda, Ida, and Lanson) also predeceased her. Three remain one son (Vernon, Port Elgin, Ont.), one daughter (Hilda, Port Credit, Ont.), and 10 grandchildren.. Sister Nahrgang accepted Christ in her youth, was a member of the Cressman Mennonite Church for many years, and at the close of the long journey which God permitted her to travel, gave good evidence of her hope in Christ. About twenty years ago she moved to Port Elgin to live with her son, and had recently moved to the Braeside Home, Preston, Ont., where she richly enjoyed the companionship of elderly Christian people. The funeral was held on March 22, in the Cressman Mennonite Church, with Merle Shantz and Oscar Burkholder in charge. Text: Ps. 91: 16.

Neff. --- Charles Powell, son of David and Elizabeth Neff, was born Dec. 13, 1884, near Medway, Ohio; departed from this life March 22, 1950; aged 65 y. 3 m. 9 d. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister (Frances Nissley Shortle). Surviving are 4 brothers (John, Joseph, and Henry, Medway, Ohio, and David, of Fairborn, Ohio) and many other relatives. He became a member of the Huber Mennonite Church, near Medway, by baptism on Oct. 25, 1925, and remained faithful and active in the church till his death. For nearly a year he had been unable to do much work. Cancer was thought to be the immediate cause of death. Funeral services were conducted in the home on March 26, by Lloy A. Kniss. Schwartzentruber. --- Jacob E., son of the late Joel Schwartzentruber and Veronica Erb, was born at Tavistock, Ont., May 10, 1881; died suddenly, of a heart attack, while visiting at the home of his son-in-law and daughter (Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Baechler), Wellesley, Ont., March 3, 1950; aged 68 y. 11 m. 23 d. In his youth he united with the Amish Mennonite Church, East Zorra, remaining faithful until death. Surviving are his wife (the former Mary Yoder), 2 daughters (Erma-Mrs. Elmer Baechler, of Wellesley; and Lydia-Mrs. Stanley Ruby, Kitchener, Ont.), 2 sisters (Katie-Mrs. Aaron Ruby, Pigeon, Mich., and Barbara-Mrs. Christian Leis, of Tavistock), one brother (Joel, Tavistock), and 8 grandchildren. One son (Daniel) predeceased him in 1948. Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter (Erma) on March 6, in charge of Samuel Schultz, and at the East Zorra Amish Mennonite Church, with Henry Yantzi and David Schwartzentruber officiating . Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Shope. --- Edna H., daughter of the late Jacob and Harriet Lehman, was born May 10, 1896; died at the St. Joseph's Hospital, Lancaster, Pa., March 6, 1950, after six-weeks illness; aged 53 y. 9 m. 26 d. Surviving are her husband (Eli C. Shope, Middletown, Pa.), 2 sons (Harry and Lehman), 4 stepsons (Arthur, Clair, Robert, and Donald Shope), and 2 sisters (Mrs. Samuel Smith, Mt. Joy, Pa.; and Mrs. Charles Fox, Hershey, Pa.). She was a faithful member of the Shope and Strickler Church for many years. Funeral services were held at Stricklers March 10, conducted by Noah W. Risser and Russel Zeager. Text: II Tim. 4: 6-8. Burial was made in the Hummelstown Cemetery.

Stauffer. --- Martha H., daughter of Ezra H. and Lizzie H. Zercher, was born in East Donegal Twp., Lancaster, Co, near Mt. Joy, Pa., Jan. 29, 1905; passed away Feb. 26, 1950, at the Lancaster General Hospital, after an illness of five months; aged 45 y. 27 d. She was united in marriage to Benjamin G. Stauffer, of Lancaster, Pa. To them were entrusted 5 children (B. Winona, a student at Eastern Mennonite College, J. Robert, LaMar, E. B. Glen, who died in infancy, and B. Leon). She was greatly interested in the church and especially in the young people. She served as Sunday-school teacher of the mothers' class and later of the young girls class, as president of the Millersville Junior Sewing Circle, and as cradle roll superintendent. During the past summer she was instrumental in reorganizing the summer Bible school. Much of her last days were spent reading the Word and patiently waiting . She will be remembered for her generous spirit and her warm spontaneous smile. Many will remember her for her willingness to do more than her share and for her friendliness. Funeral services were held March 1 at her late home and at the Millersville Church, conducted by Jacob Hess, Landis Shertzer, Herbert Fisher, Daniel Gish, and Christian K. Lehman. Her body was laid to rest in the Millersville Cemetery.

Stoltzfus. --- Mast, son of John J. and Barbara (Mast) Stoltzfus, was born May 3, 1869; passed away at his home March 16, 1950; aged 80 y. 10 m. 15 d. On Jan. 31, 1892, he was united in marriage to Mary Beiler, who survives. Also surviving are 11 children (Emma-Mrs. David Yoder, David and Anna-Mrs. John H. Yoder, of Elverson, Pa.; Elmer, Olney, Pa.; Job, Ada---Mrs. Jacob Mast, and Moses, of Elverson, Naaman, Morgantown, Pa.; Jesse, Elverson, Pa.; Mast, Jr., and Miriam-Mrs. Levi H. Mast, Oley, Pa.), 87 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. One son (Paul) preceded him in death. He accepted the Lord in his youth and always attended church services faithfully. His strong Christian character helped him endure much suffering during several years of illness. He was engaged in farming as long as his health permitted. Funeral services were in charge of C. J. Kurtz at the home; Ira Kurtz and John A. Kennel officiated at the Conestoga Church. Interment was made in the Mast Cemetery

Stutzman. --- Christian Lee, infant daughter of Lee and Alice Stutzman, was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., March 23, 1950; died in Glockner-Penrose Hospital, Colorado Springs, one half hour later. Graveside funeral services in Evergreen Cemetery were in charge of L. C. Miller.

Stutzman. ­Mary, daughter of Gabriel and Anna (Kempf) Yoder, was born in Iowa Co., Iowa, Feb. 11, 1879; died March 13, 1950, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter (Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Yoder, Kalona, Iowa); aged 71 y. 1 m. 2 d. She lived all her life in the same community. In her youth she united with the Mennonite Church and was a faithful and devoted member of the West Union congregation at the time of her death. She manifested a spiritual interest and concern for the family and the church, always desiring to attend church services as long as health permitted. On March 11, 1913, she was united in marriage to William C. Hauber, who preceded her in death March 24, 1924. To this union were born 2 daughters (Rozena Kathryn, who died in infancy, and Erma Ferne-Mrs. Wesley Yoder, who survives.). On Oct. 10, 1929, she was united in marriage to John Stutzman, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1941. Since then she has lived in the Yoder home. During the past years she had been in failing health. Along with other complications, her eyesight failed and about a year ago she became completely blind; but not until about ten days before her death was she confined to her bed. Besides her daughter she leaves 2 grandchildren, 3 sisters (Mrs. Menno Gingerich, Mrs. John Doolin, and Mrs. A. E. Zoom), and 2 brothers (Noah and Rufus), all of the immediate community. Two sisters (Agnes and Ruhama) preceded her in death. Funeral services were held March 15 at the West Union Mennonite Church, with John Y. Swartzendruber, Paul T. Guengerich, and Harvey M. Yoder in charge. Burial was made in the West Union Cemetery.

Zook. --- Cora, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Zook, was born in Champaign Co., Ohio, June 25, 1882; departed from this life at West Liberty, Ohio, March 14, 1950; aged 67 y. 8 m. 19 d. Her entire life was spent in the West Liberty community. Early in life she confessed Christ as her personal Saviour and united with the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, remaining a faithful member during her entire life. On of her great joys was to read her Bible. The responsibilities of her home were always carried gladly; no task ever found her other than willing to give of herself for the comfort and happiness of others. She was especially interested in her aged mother, to whom she was a constant companion. Death followed failing health and a cerebral hemorrhage, which she suffered on March 11. Her father and one sister preceded her in death. She leaves her 93-year old mother, one brother (Alpha Zook, of Butler, Ind.), a sister (Mrs. Amy Thoman, at home), 3 nephews, one niece, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Oak Grove Church March 17, with Nelson Kanagy, S. E. Allgyer, and N. E. Troyer in charge. Burial was made in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
