Biggs, Margaret McCoy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James McCoy, was born at Trenton, N. J., Feb. 23, 1868; passed away at the Pardy Convalescent Home, Rockwell City, Iowa, Dec. 4, 1953; aged 85 y. 9 m. 11 d. In 1895 she was united in marriage to Robert Smith, Manson, Iowa, who passed away in 1921. To this union six children were born two dying in infancy and Dewey, an older son, in 1946. In 1930 she was married to Thomas Biggs of Oxford, Iowa, where she lived until his death in 1947. She then came to Manson, making her home with her daughter. Her last years were spent in a nursing home. Surviving are her daughter (Mrs. Hazel Miller, Manson, Iowa), 2 sons (Robert, Boulder City, Nevada, and Eugene, Inglewood, Calif.), 6 grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren. On Dec. 15, 1950, she united with the Manson Mennonite congregation. Although she was not able to attend church services because of arthritis, from which she suffered much, she never complained and always enjoyed the fellowship in the reading of God's Word and prayer with her. Funeral services were held at the Larson Funeral Home, Manson, Iowa, Dec. 7, in charge of Edward Birky and Nick Stoltzfus, with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Dochterman, Lizzie K., daughter of Levi and Amanda (Kreider) Weaver, was born near Brownstown, Pa., June 24, 1882; peacefully fell asleep in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry B. Graybill, Lancaster, Pa., Nov. 14, 1953; aged 71 y. 4 m. 21 d. on Oct. 26, 1905, she was united in marriage to John M. Dochterman, who preceded her in death Jan. 30, 1953. She is survived by one son (Clayton W., Rohrerstown, Pa.), and one daughter (Mary-Mrs. Henry B. Graybill, with whom she resided since her husband passed away), also 2 granddaughters, 2 brothers (Clayton K. and Eugene K.), and 2 sisters (Edna K. and Sadie K.) all of Lancaster, Pa. She united with Mellinger's Mennonite Church at 18 years of age and served the Lord faithfully until He called her home. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 17, at the Mellinger's Church, in charge of David Landis and Harry Lefever. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.
Gingerich, Katie, daughter of Daniel and Barbara (Roth) Leichty, was born Nov. 16, 1879, near Noble, Iowa; died Dec. 3, 1953, near Canby, Oreg.; aged 74 y. 19 d. Death was due to a coronary artery disease. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in her youth, united with the Sugar Creek Congregation near Wayland, Iowa, and remained faithful in the faith until death. She united in marriage with Fred J. Gingerich, Dec. 22, 1901. One son was born to them (D. L. Gingerich, Canby, Oreg.). Two girls were also taken into the home later (Marie and Frances Johnson, who are now Mrs. Loni Hamilton, Sheridan, Oreg., and Mrs. L. D. Nofziger, Molalla, Oreg.). The husband, the 3 children, 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one brother (Nicholas) and one sister (Mrs. Dan Steckly) of near Albany, Oreg., and nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends will miss her much. Her parents and 3 brothers and one sister preceded her in death. She was quite confident that her departure was near and expressed herself thus before quietly and peacefully falling asleep. Funeral services were held at the Zion Church in charge of N. A. Lind, G. D. Shenk, and C. I. Kropf, with interment in the cemetery near by.
Good, Otto Joseph, son of Isaac and Mary Ashenfelter Good, was born Aug. 12, 1892, near Harrisonburg, Va.; was called home Nov. 10, 1953; aged 61 y. 2 m. 29 d. On Jan. 10, 1918, he was united in marriage to Anna M. Weaver. An infant son preceded him in death. Besides his wife he is survived by 4 children (Mildred-Mrs. Wm. Watkins, West New York, New Jersey; Cathalene-Mrs. David Barnhart, Keezletown, Va.; James D., Harrrisonburg, Va., and Ethan J., Millersville, Pa.), 7 grandchildren, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers. He accepted Christ in early youth and remained faithful and active in the work of the church. On March 11, 1945, he was ordained as deacon. He devoted much of his time, effort, and study to the mission work of the church. On Nov. 4 he was anointed by the Brethren D. W. Lehman and S. H. Rhodes. This was a very impressive services which shall be remembered by the family. He expressed his desire to depart and be with God. Funeral services were held at Weaver's Church, Nov. 13, conducted by Harold Lehman, D. W. Lehman, and Harold Eshleman. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
Horst, Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Martin and Fannie Knoll Cauffman, was born Dec. 7, 1873; passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital, Dec. 9, 1953; aged 80 y. 2 d . She was the widow of William Horst. Surviving are 2 daughters (Mrs. Paul E. Keener, Shippensburg, Pa., with whom she made her home; and Mrs. Amos D. Shank, Hanover, Pa.), 7 brothers and sisters, 8 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was a member of the Rowe Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at the Rowe Church Dec. 12, conducted by Amos E. Martin and Paul C. Martin, with interment in the Rowe Cemetery.
Miller, Dr. Orden E., son of the late Bishop Noah E. Miller and Hannah Miller Otto, was born Oct. 7, 1910, at Springs, Pa.; died Nov. 30, 1953, at the York Hospital, York, Pa.; aged 43 y. 1 m. 23 d. He leaves to mourn his sudden departure his wife (Ima Hanson Miller), 3 sons (Arthur, Eugene, James Emerson, and Glenn Orden), his mother, 2 brothers (Chester E., York, Pa. and Elam, Meyersdale, Pa.), and 2 sisters (Kathryn-Mrs. John Buchholtz, York, Pa., and Alvina-Mrs. Willard Livengood, Springs, Pa.). Dr. Miller was a member of the York County Medical Society and the York County Medical Association. A Word War veteran, he served as flight surgeon with the U. S. Air Force overseas. Paul L. Reaser, pastor of Union Lutheran Church, officiated at the funeral services at the Edward W. Banmeister Colonial Mortuary. Interment was made in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Moyer, Leidy Ralph, son of Geidon and Clara (Heckler) Moyer, was born in Hilltown, Pa., May 3, 1910; passed away Nov. 30, 1953; aged 43 y. 6 m. 27 d. Ralph was 3 of his brothers and 2 nephews was on a hunting trip. They left home Nov. 29 for Potter County, and started out early the next morning to hunt deer. Soon after they went out, he took sick. With the help of his brother Dwight, he got back to their boarding house and to a doctor, who told him there was nothing to be alarmed about, but to rest for the day. Ralph told Dwight to go on hunting, as he would be all right. But in about fifteen minutes Dwight was called back and Ralph was soon gone. He had a heart attack about three years ago and was under a doctor's care for some time, but for the last two years seemed to be in good health. He accepted Christ when a young man , and united with the Mennonite Church, where he remained a faithful member until the end. He was united in marriage to Esther Frankenfield on April 11, 1936. To this union were born 3 daughters and one son. One daughter preceded him in death. He will be sadly missed by his wife, 2 daughters (Eileen and Elaine), and son (Donald), his aged father, and his brothers and sisters (Byron, Coopersburg, Pa.; Stanley and Winfield, Silverdale, Pa.; Dwight, Dublin, Pa.; Mrs. Samuel Miller, Hilltown, Pa.; Mrs. Fred Baumaster, Neshaminy, Pa.; Geidon, Jr., Popersville, Pa.; and Ammon Haycock, Pa.). Funeral services were held at the Deep Run Mennonite Church (where he had been caretaker for a number of years) on Dec. 4, in charge of Wilson Overholt, Abram Yothers, and Erwin Nace. Interment was made in adjoining cemetery.
Mullenix, Elsie May, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles White, was born May 24, 1880, near Clearspring, Md.; departed this life Dec. 5, 1953, at the Chambersburg Hospital; aged 73 y. 6 m. 11 d. She is survived by 2 sons (Blaine Hornbaker and Elmer Mullenix), 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Williamson Mennonite Church. She had been unable to walk for the past 19 years and spent most of her time on her rocking chair. She bore her affliction very patiently and welcomed the call of her Maker. Funeral services were held at the Maple Grove Church of God in charge of Norman H. Martin and Mahlon Eshleman. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.
Noll, Grant H., son of the late Grant W. and Sara (Harnish) Noll, was born Oct. 14, 1901; passed away very suddenly Oct. 19, 1953, while walking in the field; aged 52 y. 5 d. He had a heart ailment, but death came as a shock to all. He is survived by his wife (Fannie Groff Noll), 3 children (James G., Lancaster, Pa.; Mrs. Wilmer Sherer, Manheim, Pa.; and Grant, Jr., at home), and 4 grandchildren. He was a faithful member of the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church and taught in the Sunday school for over 23 years; two of these he was teacher of the Oreville Home. For the past four years he conducted summer Bible school at Wheelerville, Pa., and for many years he taught in the local Bible schools. Funeral services were held Oct. 22, at the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church, with Christian Lehman and Jacob Hess officiating. Burial was made in the Millersville Cemetery.
Potts, Margaret Edna, was born Jan. 2, 1870, at Anada, Mo.; passed away Dec. 15, 1953, at the Mark Twain Rest Home in Hannibal; aged 83 y. 11 m. 13 d. She is survived by one son (Leslie Lindell, Chicago, Ill.). She was received into the Mennonite Church in May 1946, and was a faithful member until death. Funeral services were in charge of Harold Kreider, assistant pastor of the Mennonite Mission Church in Hannibal. Interment was made in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Weaver, Sarah Jane (Martin), was born in Elkhart Co., Ind., March 2, 1872; passed away at Wakarusa, Ind., Dec. 11, 1953; aged 81 y. 9 m. 9 d. The last two years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Lehman, where she passed away. On May 13, 1894, she was united in marriage to Christian Peter Weaver, who preceded her in death about 16 years. She is survived by 5 children (Oscar M., Nora E.--Mrs. Arthur Lehman, and J. Albert, of near Wakarusa, Ind., and Norman and Paul of Gulliver, Mich.), 2 brothers (Reuben S., Goshen, Ind., and Jacob A., Wooster, Ohio), 19 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. One brother (John) preceded her in death. From her youth she had been a faithful member of the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Goshen, Ind. Her death, which was caused by a stroke was sudden and unexpected as she was in good health for one her age. We praise God for His goodness in calling her home without suffering or illness, which was always her prayer. Funeral services were held at the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Dec. 13, with Clarence Shank and Peter B. Wiebe in charge. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Brenneman, Ora Roswell, son of the late Jacob and Annie (Miller) Brenneman, was born Feb. 24, 1897, near Kalona, Iowa; passed to his eternal reward at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Erb, Dec. 26, 1953; aged 56 y. 10 m. 2 d. At the age of 16 years, he accepted his Saviour, was baptized and received into fellowship with the Lower Deer Creek congregation. He remained a faithful member until death. On July 27, 1919, he was married to Cora Hochstetler, who passed away Feb. 12, 1922. On Nov. 27, 1923, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Mae Yoder, who preceded him Oct. 10, 1942. To this union were born 2 daughters and 2 sons (Nita-Mrs. John Erb and Audrey-Mrs. Wayne Miller, both of Wellman, Iowa; Lowell, Kalona, Iowa, and Clair, at home). He also leaves 4 grandchildren (Kenton, and Donny Miller, Robert Don Erb, and Ronnie Brenneman), a stepmother (Mrs. Lydia Brenneman, Iowa City, Iowa), one brother (Lloyd, Kalona, Iowa), 3 half brothers (Noah and Homer, Kalona, Iowa, and Delmar, Richland, Iowa), and 3 half sisters (Ola and Freda, Iowa City, Iowa; and Mrs. Hilda King, Harrisonburg, Va.). Funeral services were held Dec. 28 at the Lower Deer Creek Church in charge of J. Y. Swartzendruber and Robert K. Yoder.
Horning, Barton G., son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Good) Horning, was born May 24, 1884, in Lancaster Co., Pa.; departed this life Dec. 20, 1953, at his home in Bowmansville, Pa.; aged 69 y. 6 m. 26 d. On Sept. 10, 1906, he was united in marriage to Jennie M. Good, who passed away Jan. 12, 1937. On Sept. 29, 1938, he was married to Elizabeth Wenger. To the first union were born these sons and daughters (Ruth-Mrs. Sylvester Horst and Anna-Mrs. John G. Weber, both of Bowmansville, Pa.; Lewis, Ephrata, Pa.; Florence-Mrs. Lester Risser, Sheridan, Pa.; Sylvan, Ephrata, Pa.; Jennie-Mrs. B. Wilmer Martin, East Earl, Pa.; Miriam, Sarah, and Kathleen, at home). One brother and 3 sisters also survive. He was a member of the Bowmansville Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at the Bowmansville Church in charge of Benj. F. Weaver, Moses Gehman, and Wilmer Eby. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
Jefferson, Sylvanus, was born in Chatham, Ont., in 1903, and passed away suddenly at the Hopedale Mission Farm, Ailsa Craig, Nov. 5, 1953. He accepted Christ in his youth and united with the Baptist Church, was ordained to the ministry, and served that church for some time. Later, however, he backslid until he found himself on Skid Row but finally wandered into Goodwill Rescue Mission, London, Ont., where he confessed his sin and expressed his desire to be restored to Christian fellowship. He then went to Hopedale Mission Farm, where he lived a rather up-and-down life. He expressed a desire to be received into church membership at the Nairn A. M. Church, but while under instruction confessed that he held a grudge against his own brother who had done him a great wrong. After much prayer, his friends took him to Chatham, where he and his brother were reconciled. This made a great impression on his unconverted brother. After this experience he had a ringing testimony, with the love of God radiating from his very eyes. He was received into church fellowship, but three weeks later he had a heart attack and the Lord called him home. He is survived by 5 children and 3 brothers, all of Chatham. The funeral was an impressive one, with Wilfred Schlagel and Alvin N. Roth, in charge. Burial was made in the Nairn A. M. Cemetery.
Layman, John, son of the late Simon and Elizabeth (Kaufman) Layman, was born in Somerset Co., Pa., Dec. 8, 1879; died Dec. 4, 1953, in the home of Wesley Yoder; aged 73 y. 11 m. 26 d. He is survived by one brother (Calvin, Davidsville, Pa.), and 2 sisters (Mrs. Adda Yoder, Hollsopple, Pa.; and Mrs. Maggie Weaver, Davidsville, Pa.). He was a member of the Blough Mennonite Church since Jan. 16, 1898, where funeral services were held Dec. 7 in charge of Harry C. Blough and John A. Lehman. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
Leu, Amanda, daughter of John C. and Lydia Short, was born near Archbold, Ohio, Jan. 21, 1884, and on the morning of Dec. 25, 1953, after only one night of illness, went to her eternal reward; aged 69 y. 11 m. 1 d. On May 4, 1913, she was united in marriage to Clarence Leu, sharing the joys and sorrows of life with him for over 40 years. Five sons and one daughter came to bless this home. She is survived by her husband and 6 children (John, Jacob, Clint, and Treva, of West Unity, Ohio; Milo, Stryker, Ohio; and Doyle, Archbold, Ohio) 6 grandchildren, one sister (Mrs. Nellie Grieser, Stryker, Ohio), 2 brothers (Eddie, Union City, Pa., and Clint, Stryker, Ohio), and many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. Preceding her in death were her parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour in youth, united with the Mennonite Church, and was a faithful member of the Lockport congregation at her death. Funeral services were held at the Lockport Church on Dec. 27, conducted by Simon Stuckey, E. B. Frey, and Walter Stuckey. Burial was made in the Lockport Cemetery.
McDowell, Oliver E., son of Oliver E. McDowell and Magdalena Culp (Bickel) was born in Elkhart Co., Ind., April 13, 1885; passed away Dec. 18, 1953; aged 68 y. 8 m. 5 d. He was the great-grandson of the well-known bishop Jacob Wisler (1808-89) of the Yellow Creek Congregation. On Oct. 24, 1905, Oliver was united in marriage with Mable Fields, who survives. To this union 4 children were born (Grace-Mrs. Calvin Pletcher, of Goshen; Albert V. and Charles D., both of Elkhart; and Faye, who preceded him in death.). He made the good decision to accept Christ eleven months before his passing, and both he and his companion were baptized into the fellowship of the Olive Mennonite Church on Jan. 6, 1953. His conversion made a deep impression of the community and he was a faithful brother in Christ during the last years of his life. He often requested his wife to read to him of the Father's house with its many mansions, John 14. He was in poor health during the last year of his life, but whenever his strength permitted he attended church services. His end came quite unexpectedly as he quietly fell asleep Dec. 18. It was his testimony that he believed he was safe in Christ, although he had a deep regret for his pre-conversion life. During his active life he was a contractor of unusual skill and ability. He made violins as a hobby. His three surviving children and six grandchildren, as well as his sorrowing wife, have many happy memories of Brother McDowell, especially in the period of life in which he was living for Christ. Funeral services were conducted at the Yellow Creek Church, by J. C. Wenger and C. A. Shank, with burial in adjoining cemetery.
Nissly, Levi H., son of Christian and Barbara (Herr) Nissley, was born in Lancaster Co., Pa., near Mountville, April 25, 1900; while driving his car, he suffered a heart attack and passed away within a few minutes on the evening of Dec. 22, 1953; aged 53 y. 7m. 27 d. On Nov. 10, 1921, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth H. Harnish. They were permitted to share the joys and sorrows of life together for 32 years. Besides his wife he is survived by 2 children (Esther H.-Mrs. Walter B. Groff, Willow Street, Pa., and Lloyd H., Elizabethtown, Pa.), 6 grandchildren, 7 brothers and sisters (Christian H., Lititz, Pa.; Mrs. Clarence Keener and Harry H., both of Lancaster, Pa.; Roy H., Lititz, Pa.; Ralph H., Washington Boro; Mrs. Titus Horning, New Holland, Pa.; and Barbara, Moutville, Pa.), and a number of other relatives and friends. His parents, 3 brothers and one sister preceded him in death. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour and remained faithful until death. Funeral services were held at the Mount Joy Mennonite Church Dec. 26, in charge of Henry Lutz, Henry Garber, and Henry Frank. Interment was made in the Kraybill Cemetery.
Ropp, Menno B., son of the late John and Annie (Bellar) Ropp, was born in Perth Co., Ont., April 16, 1880; passed away suddenly of a heart attack, Nov. 12, 1953, while on his way to Kitchener, Ont., to visit his sister who was a patient at the K. and W. Hospital ; aged 64 y. 6 m. 27 d. He confessed Christ as his personal Saviour in his youth and united with the A. M. congregation at Poole, later transferring his membership to the East Zorra Church where he served faithfully for many years. In 1914 he was united in marriage to Annie Schlegel (nee Yantzi) who survives him. Also surviving him are the following children (Annie Mae-Mrs. Almon Roth and Frieda-Mrs. Wilmer Baechler, both of South Weasthope; Gloyd, Ailsa Craig, Ont.; Neil, Wilmot, Ont.; Irma-Mrs. Stanley Lichiti and Ada-Mrs. Christ Bender, both of East Zorra), 5 stepchildren (Selna-Mrs. Ed. Brenneman; Barbara-Mrs. Joe Zehr, Edna-Mrs. Henry Schumn, and Omer and Ezra Schlegel, all of East Zorra), 4 brothers and 4 sisters (Sam, Peter, Chris, William, Sarah-Mrs. Peter Brunk, Anna-Mrs. John Brunk, Emma-Mrs. Noah Steckley, and Susanna-Mrs. J. Johnson), and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held Nov. 16 at the Sixteenth Line A. M. Church with Joel Schwartzentruber and Wilfred Schlegel officiating. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
Shantz, Richard Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne M. Shantz, was born in Kitchener, Ont., Aug. 11, 1953; died at the home o f his parents on Dec. 12, 1953; aged 4 m. 1 d. He was born with a malformed heart but seemed to be a healthy baby until the day before his death. After a few hours of discomfort and pain he passed away peacefully in his mother's arms. He is survived by his parents, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers (Esther, Eileen, Kenneth, Roland, Yvonne, and Frederick, all at home). One infant brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the St. Jacob's Mennonite Church, Dec. 14, in charge of Roy S. Koch, assisted by Paul Swarr. Interment was made in the cemetery at Three Bridges.
Sutter, Helene, daughter of the late Joe and Christine (Yordy) Nofzinger, was born Sept. 3, 1868, near Baden, Germany; passed to her eternal reward at the home o f her daughter, Mrs. I. J. Hartzler, near Pryor, Okla., Dec. 18, 1953; aged 85 y. 3 m. 15 d. She came to this country with her parents in 1881, locating in Fulton County, Ohio. The family moved to Stuttgart, Ark., in 1885 where her father passed away that same year. She accepted Christ as her Saviour at the age of 15 and united with the Amish Mennonite Church, where she was a faithful member until death. She was married to Rudolph Sutter Jan. 23, 1890. To this union were born 10 children. In 1912 the family moved to Pryor, Okla., where she resided until her death. She leaves to mourn her departure, 3 sons (Jake, Adair, Okla.; John, Portland, Oreg.; and Rudy, Claremore, Okla.), 4 daughters (Susie-Mrs. I. J. Hartzler; Lizzie-Mrs. Jake Scheffel; Katie-Mrs. Levi Eichelberger; and Louise, at home, all residents of Pryor, Okla.), 2 sisters (Mrs. Katie Cox and Mrs. Christina Crutcher, both of Stuttgart, Ark.), 2 brothers (John Nofzinger, Hubbard, Oreg.; and Joe, Bartlesville, Okla.), 25 grandchildren, and 35 great-granchildren. Funeral services were held at the Zion Church near Pryor, Okla., Dec. 20, in charge of Nelson Histand and Alva Swartzendruber, with interment in the cemetery near by.
Troyer, Levi E., son of the late Emanuel S. and Sarah (Miller) Troyer, was born near Goshen, Ind., Feb. 1, 1894; met his death accidentally while at work at his home near Harper, Kans., Dec. 10, 1953; aged 59 y. 10 m. 9 d. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour and united with the Mennonite Church at Fairview, Mich., in which faith he remained until death. He lived his early life in Indiana, moved to Kansas, and married Viola King of Harper, Kansas, on Feb. 28, 1926. To this union were born 2 sons and one daughter. His wife preceded him in death just seven weeks, Oct. 24, 1953. One son died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his passing one son (Lee Edward) and one daughter (Margaret Ruth) at home; also 4 brothers and 5 sisters (Emanuel, Portsmouth, Va.; Henry, Ora, and Seth, Fairview, Mich.; Mary-Mrs. Mose Yoder, and Barbara of Middlebury, Ind.; Clara-Mrs. Dan Miller, Elkhart, Ind.; Sarah-Mrs. J. B. Mullet, Hazelton, Iowa; Fanny-Mrs. Levi Hershberger, Kansas City, Kans.). His parents and 2 brothers preceded him in death. Services were held on Dec. 12, at the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church, Harper, Kans. Ministers in charge were Waldo Miller and G. G. Yoder. Interment was made in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Yoder, Neta Faye, stillborn daughter of Melvin and Cleo (Miller) Yoder, was born Nov. 18, 1953, at Hutchinson, Kans. Surviving are her parents, one brother (Arlan) and her grandparents (Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Yoder and Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Miller). Services were held at the grave Nov. 19, in charge of Harry A. Diener.

Borntrager, A. D., son of Daniel A. and Fannie Borntrager, was born Nov. 2, 1925, at Garnett, Kans.; died as the result of an accident near Center Point, Iowa, Dec. 2, 1953; aged 28 y. 1 m. As a child he came with his parents to Iowa where they lived until 1939 when they moved to Middlebury, Ind. He became a member of the C. A. M. Church near Middlebury, Ind. At the close of his CPS days, he was married to Esther Kauffman, Dec. 24, 1946. To this union were born six children (Carolyn Ann, 6; Charlotte, 4; Carrie Marie, 3; Andrew David, 2; Cecil Allen, 1; Virginia Irene, 5 weeks). He leaves to mourn his departure besides his companion and six children, his parents and the following brothers and sisters (Lee Andy, Orlando, Fla.; Irene-Mrs. John W. Miller, Lagrange, Ind.; Susan-Mrs. Nelson Nissley, Kalona, Iowa; Maynard, in I-W service, Kalamazoo, Mich.; Roy, Millie Ann, Clarence, Idella, Elmer Glen and Floyd Dale, at the home near Constantine, Mich.). For the past ten months A. D. had been engaged as driver of a fuel transport. On his last trip, when less than 50 miles from home, an accident occurred in which he was burned to death. The true cause of the unfortunate accident will probably never be known. Funeral services were held Dec. 3, at the Fairview Church near Kalona, Iowa, with Morris E. Swartzendruber and Virgil Brenneman in charge. Burial was in near-by cemetery.
Ebersole, Mary, (Landis), widow of the late John J. Ebersole, was born Dec. 10, 1873; died Dec. 6, 1953; aged 79 y. 11 m. 27 d. She is survived by one son (Reuben, Bainbridge, Pa.) and one daughter (Esther-Mrs. Witmer Hossler, Elizabethtown, Pa.). At the age of 49 she suffered from a stroke which left her unable to speak except only one syllable, "My, my." One hand and limb were also partially disabled. Funeral services were held Dec. 10 at Good's Mennonite Church, conducted by Clarence E. Lutz and Ira Z. Miller, with burial in adjoining cemetery.
Gehman, Elizabeth H., daughter of Katie and the late Christian S. Martin, was born in Terre Hill, Pa., Jan. 12, 1903; died Dec. 30, 1953; aged 50 y. 11 m. 17 d. In youth she became a member of the Mennonite Church and remained a faithful member until death. She was united in marriage to Eli H. Gehman, Nov. 6, 1926. To this union were born 2 daughters and 2 sons. One daughter and one son preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband, 2 children (Arlene-Mrs. Amos Newswanger, Jr., Schuylerkill Haven, Pa.; and J. Robert, Norristown, Pa.), 4 grandchildren, and 5 brothers and sisters (Aaron, Adamstown, Pa.; Noah, Adam, and Eva, Terre Hill, Pa.; and Susan-Mrs. Amos Zimmerman, Jr., Bowmansville, Pa.). Funeral services were held in the Ephrata Mennonite Church, Jan. 2, in charge of Amos Horst and Aaron Stoltzfus, with burial in the Springville Cemetery.
Groff, Susan R., daughter of the late Abram B. and Anna (Ranck) Herr, was born near New Danville, Pa., Dec. 19, 1866; departed this life Dec. 13, 1953; aged 86 y. 11 m. 24 d. On Nov. 11, 1890, she was married to Emanuel Groff. They shared life's joys and sorrows together for over 63 years. She was a member of the New Danville Mennonite Church. One son and 2 daughters preceded her in death. Surviving are her companion, and 5 children (Mrs. Mary H. Hess; Anna-Mrs. Jacob H. Rohrer; Esther-Mrs. Ivan N. Charles; Nora-Mrs. Andrew N. Miller; and Elias H.). 2 sisters and 2 brothers (Mrs. Lizzie Snavely, Amanda R. Herr, Henry R., and Abram R.), 26 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services at New Danville Church, Dec. 16, were conducted by Henry Nauman and David N. Thomas, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Horst, Samuel, was born Jan. 12, 1868, in Woolwich Township; passed away at his son Irvin's home, Dec. 30, 1953; aged 85 y. 11 m. 18 d. He was united in marriage to Lavina Bowman on April 4, 1897. To this union were born two children (Irvin and Magdalena). He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter. He leaves to mourn his departure his son and 2 grandchildren (Mrs. Harold Bauman and Willard Horst.). He was a member of the Elmira, Ont., Mennonite Church since its inception in 1924. Funeral services were held at the Elmira Mennonite Church, Jan. 3, in charge of O. D. Snider and Howard S. Bauman. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
Kauffman, Mary Ann, daughter of Noah E. and the late Mattie
(Miller) Stutzman, was born Dec. 14, 1894, in Brown Co., Ind.; died
Sept. 4, 1953, at Clinton, Okla.; aged 58 y. 8 m. 20 d. She was
married to Henry J. Kauffman on Nov. 21, 1916, near Arthur, Ill.
To this union were born 4 sons and 4 daughters. Surviving are her
husband, 8 children (Joe; Martha - Mrs. John C. Stutzman; Katie Ann -
Mrs. Lester J. Miller; Esther - Mrs. A. D. Borntrager; Clara - Mrs.
George Gingerich; and Jacob Levi, all living near Kalona, Iowa; and
Harvey, in I-W service), her father, 3 sisters and 3 brothers (Mrs.
Simon Yutzy, Mrs.Dan A. Miller, Mrs. Menno Swartzendruber, Reuben,
Levi, and John), and 22 grandchildren. She was sick only two days
when God called her home. Funeral services were held at the
Fairview C.A.M. Church Sept. 9, in charge of David Miller, E. G.
Swartzendruber, Albert S. Miller, and Jake J. Miller, with burial in
the cemetery near by.
Kling, Eunice Marie, daughter of C. Richard and Gail E. (Frey) Kling, Atmore, Ala., was born Aug. 13, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pa. Last September she complained of severe pain in her body. The disease was diagnosed as leukemia. On Dec. 11, 1953, Eunice passed into glory; aged 6 y. 3 m. 28 d. She leaves to mourn her parents and one brother (James Nelson). Funeral services were held Dec. 15 in the Freemanville Mennonite Church with John S. Hess in charge, assisted by Jacob Z. Rittenhouse, George Reno, Michael N. Wenger, and Don Augsburger. Interment was made in the Freemanville, Ala., cemetery.
Kropf, Elizabeth, daughter of Nicklas and Annie Roth, was born Nov. 29, 1870; died very suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rudy Roth, Oct. 27, 1953; aged 82 y. 10 m. 28 d. On March 8, 1886, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kropf, who died eight years later. She lived in widowhood for 49 years. In her youth she was received into the Amish Mennonite Church and remained faithful until death. Surviving are one daughter (Sarah-Mrs. Rudy Roth), one son (Ezra, East Zorra), one brother (Christian, East Zorra), 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral services were held at the East Zorra Church in charge of Moses H. Roth and Henry Yantzi, with burial in adjoining cemetery.
Miller, Rudolph E., son of Alexander and Katherine Miller, was born near Bunker Hill, Ohio, May 6, 1899; died Dec. 28, 1953 at the place of his employment; 54 y. 7m. 22 d. In his youth he confessed Christ as his Saviour and was received as a member of the Martins Creek Mennonite Church. On Dec. 14, 1918, he was married to Othney Troyer. To this union were born 3 sons (Weldon, Berlin, Ohio; Owen, Bunker Hill; and Ward at home), he leaves to mourn his unexpected death his beloved companion, their 3 sons, and 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers (John, Bunker Hill; and Robert, Millersburg), and 5 sisters (Martha Miller, Bunker Hill; Mrs. Emma Yoder, Louisville, Ohio; Mrs. Elizabeth Wengerd, Berlin, Ohio; Mrs. Catherine Zook, Smithville, Ohio; and Mrs. Savilla Miller, Berlin, Ohio). Two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted at the Berlin Mennonite Church, Jan. 5, by D. D. Miller, Earl E. Miller and S. W. Sommer. Burial was made in the Berlin Cemetery.
Ramer, Tobias, son of the late Martin and Lydia (Shaum) Ramer, was born near Wakarusa, Ind., Nov. 20, 1888; departed this life Dec. 14, 1953; aged 65 y. 24 d. Although in failing health for the past year, he appeared as usual on Sunday when all the family spent the day together. Little did we realized that the end was so near. He, with four other brethren accepted Christ as Saviour and was received into the fellowship of the Wisler Mennonite Church on May 18, 1912. He is the first of the group to go on to his eternal reward. On Nov. 24, 1914, he was united in marriage to Salina Lehman. To this union were born 2 sons and 2 daughters who, with his companion survive. Berneice-Mrs. Paul Weaver, Nappanee, Ind.; Monroe, Goshen; and Merle and Virginia, at home); also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 5 brothers and 3 sisters (Amanda-Mrs. Elias Martin, William, John, and Edward, all of Goshen, Ind.; Lewis, Elkhart; Isaiah, Nappanee, Ind.; Mrs. Anna Wenger and Martha-Mrs. Elias Weaver, of Wakarusa. One brother preceded him in death. The funeral was held at the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church with Fred Nighswander and Abram Good in charge.
Sensenig, Jay Roy, infant son of Roy and Anna Mae (Frederick) Sensenig, Terre Hill, Pa., was born Dec. 24, 1953, and died the following day, at the Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital. Besides his parents he is survived by a sister (Janice Lou, at home), his grandparents (Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Frederick and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sensenig), one great-grandmother and one great-grandfather. A short service was held at the home and at the grave Dec. 26, with David N. Weaver in charge. Burial was made in the Martindale Cemetery.
Stutzman, Rena, daughter of the later Jeremiah and Eliza Stutzman, was born Sept. 19, 1891, at Milford, Nebr.; passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes, Minn., Dec. 14, 1953; aged 62 y. 3 m. 5 d. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. She was married to Daniel Stutzman, Dec. 14, 1911, at Milford, Nebr. To this union were born 2 sons and 4 daughters (Alice-Mrs. Wilmer Wenger, Vernice-Mrs. Ezra Erb, Mary-Mrs. William King and Rudy, all of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; Florence-Mrs. Harold Schwitzer, Cairo, Nebr.; and Kenneth, who passed away in 1946). She also leaves 13 grandchildren, one sister and one brother (Amanda-Mrs. Arthur Birky, and Altine, both of Milford, Nebr.). She was preceded in death by her husband in 1949 and 4 grandchildren. She united with the Mennonite Church at Milford, Nebr., and was faithful until death. Funeral services were held at the Lake Region Church, Dec. 28, with E. D. Hershberger and Ben Grieser in charge. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.
Wenger, Ann, daughter, of Abraham and Mary (Kilmer)
Holdeman, was born Feb. 27, 1864; passed away Dec. 11, 1953;
aged 89 y. 9 m. 14 d. On Oct. 18, 1885, she was married to Daniel
Wenger, who passed away in 1951. To this union were born
three sons and six daughters, all of whom live within eight miles
of the home located near the Olive Church, near Wakarusa, Ind.
Sister Wenger and her husband were converted in 1910, and united
with the Olive Mennonite Church where she was an active worker
as long as she was able to attend. About eight years ago she became
ill and was bedfast since then. Besides her children, she is survived
by 29 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and many friends.
Funeral services were held at the Olive Church, conducted by D.
A. Yoder and C. A. Shank, with burial in adjoining cemetery.

Yoder, Edna Ruth, daughter of Samuel S. and Lydia (Kanagy) Glick, was born Sept. 17, 1907, near Belleville, Pa.; passed away at her home in Allensville, Pa., Dec. 24, 1953; aged 46 y. 3 m. 8 d. Her mother and a sister and family had been invited to spend Christmas with them, and Edna seemed very happy, but soon after dinner she suffered a heart attack and peacefully passed away. She was united in marriage to John R. Yoder, Dec. 27, 1931. She is survived by her husband, 2 sons (John and Gordon, both at home), her aged mother, and the following brothers and sisters (Mary-Mrs. Abner Blank, Gap, Pa.; Ada-Mrs. Thomas Byler, Sadie-Mrs. Aaron Yoder, and Samuel, of Belleville, Pa.; Joseph, Elverson, Pa.; Bertha-Mrs. David Zook, McAlisterville, Pa.; Lydia-Mrs. Stephen Kaufman, Reedsville, Pa.; Linda-Mrs. Adam Wenger, Akron, Pa.; and Raymond J., Ephrata, Pa.), also a large number of nieces, nephews, and friends. An infant son preceded her in death. Edna accepted Christ as her Saviour when a young girl and was a faithful member of the Locust Grove Church, Belleville, Pa. Funeral services were held at the Locust Grove Church, Dec. 28, with Erie Renno and Louis Peachey in charge. Burial was made in the cemetery near by.
