Benedict D; .GINGERICH, Lizzie Kemp;
GINGERICH-
Benedict D. Gingerich was born Dec. 26, 1885, a son of Daniel D.
and Cathrine (Miller) Gingerich. He died at his home north of Kalona,
Iowa, on Mar. 21, 1972; at !the age of 86 years, 2 months and 25 days.
He united with the Old Order Amish church in his youth, remaining
faithful to the end. On Dec. 15, 1910, he was married to Lizzie Kemp in
Johnson Co. living all his life in this area. On Nov. 8, 1942, he was
ordained a minister in the north district.
Survivors include his widow (who died 6 days later, see obituary
below), two daughters, Mrs. Eli (Amanda) Beachy of Kalona, and Mary
Ellen at home, and two sons, Hermon of Kalona, and Emil at home; 13
grandchildren, and 20 great--grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Henry H.
Miller, and one brother, John D. Gingerich, both of Kalona.
He was preceded in death by his par-ents, one son, Freeman, an infant
daugh-ter, two brothers, and two grandchildren.
Services were held in the home by Truman Miller and Tobias Miller, and
in a neighbor's home by Willis Yoder and Elmer T. Miller. Burial in the
Gingerich Cemetery north of Kalona, Iowa.

GINGERICH-
Lizzie (Kemp) Gingerich, daughter of Sam and Amanda
(Hochstetler) Kemp, was born in Johnson County, Iowa, Sept. 18, 1887.
Died at her home north of Kalona on March 27, 1972, aged 84 years, 6
months and 9 days.
She was baptized Sept. 11, 1904, and became a member of the Old Order
Amish church, remaining faithful to the end.
On Dec. 15, 1910, she was married by Bishop Peter Kinsinger to Benedict
D. Gingerich, who preceded her less than a week earlier. They had a
little more than 61 years of married life together.
To this union were born 6 children, 2 who preceded her, Freeman, who
died Jan. 16, 1966, and an infant who died in 1918.
Survivors include 4 children, Amanda, married to Eli M. Beachy, Hermon,
mar-ried to Malinda Yoder; Mary Ellen and Emil at home. Also the
daughter-in-law, Lydian, married to Moss I Miller; 13 grandchildren, 20
great-grandchildren, a brother, Benedick Kemp, 2 step sisters, Lovina,
wife of Dan J. Shettler, and Sarah, wife of Ammon J. Miller of
Michigan, 6 nephews, 5 nieces and several cousins.
Preceding her were her husband, 2 grandsons, 3 brothers, Noah, Joseph
and Jonas Kemp, and also an infant brother.
