BENDER, Lydia;
BENDER.
- Lydia, daughter of Samuel W, and Lovina (Swartzendruber)
Bender. was born Mar. 18, 1892, north of Wellman; Iowa. Her family
moved to Illinois in 1896, where they lived until 1906, when they moved
to Thomas, Okla., where they lived until 1937 when they moved back to
the Kalona area and lived with the Enos C. Swartzentruber family until
the death of her sister (Mrs. Enos C. Swartzentruber) in Jan. 1973,
since then she had been in various homes. Lydia passed away April 15,
1976, in the Earl J. Beachy home where she had been staying 15 months
or more, at the age of 84 years, and 27 days. In her youth she united
with O. O. Amish Church remaining faithful un-til death. Death was
caused by pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lung). Sur-viving are
one sister, Mrs. Mose W. (Bar-bara) Yoder of Nappanee, Ind., and two
brothers, George S. and Chriss S. Bender, both of Kalona, Iowa, and a
number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents,
one brother and two sisters. Services were held in the Earl J. Beachy
home on April 17, by Pre. Tobias J. Miller and Bish. Jonas J. Beachy,
burial in Peter Miller Cemetery northeast of Kalona, Iowa.
