Minnie Nora Stuckey
Minnie Nora Grieser was born to
Samuel and Mary Ann Freyenberger Stuckey on Noy. 9, 1901, at their farm
home, one mile north of Pettisville, Ohio; and entered her eternal home
on Nov. 9, 1984, her 83rd birthday, at the home of her daughter, Mary
Snyder, in Phoenix, Ariz.
She attended the Ziegler School and later worked for
the Aaron Frey and Joseph Liechty families. While the barn was being
constructed, on the Frey farm, Minnie developed a deep and abiding love
for one of the carpenters who later became her husband.
On Feb. 5, 1924, she was united in marriage to Eimer
Grieser. They became parents of three children: six grandchildren; and
one foster granddaughter. Their marriage union was broken by Elmer's
death on May 14, 1971. She is survived by her three children: Orville
J. and his wife Nancy, Archbold, Ohio; Mary and her husband Elden
Snyder, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Merle and his wife Karla, LaSalle, Colo.
She is also survived by six grandchildren: David and
Frederic Grieser, Archbold, Ohio; Sally and her husband Michael Beck,
Napoleon, Ohio; Kevin and Sam Snyder; Matthew
Grieser, LaSalle, Colo.; and a foster granddaughter, Betsy Loss,
Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Eldon (Lydia) Rupp, Archbold, Ohio,
three sisters-in-law: Mabel Stuckey, Wauseon, Ohio; Irene Nafziger,
Archbold, Ohio; and Florence Grieser, Archbold, Ohio; her nieces and
nephews, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; one
brother, Dennis Stuckey; one sister, Phoebe Schrock; and a sister that
died in early childhood.
Minnie was a 1oving and caring wife, mother, and
grandmother, always ready to help; always concerned for the spiritual
and physical we1fare of her children, grandchildren, nieces and
nephews; whom she loved deeply.
She had assisted in the operation of the family farm
until Elmer's retirement. Then she was employed at Fairlawn Haven until
1978. After her husband's death, the farm home was sold and she moved
to Archbold. She was active until the last two years enjoying work with
the Women's Missionary and Service Commission, Golden Age Sewing group,
Care & Share Store, and Sunshine Children's Home.
She was a member of the Central Mennonite Church
since March 25, 1917 when she was baptized upon confession of faith in
Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour.
On Nov. 13, 1984, a family service was held at Short
Funeral Home with burial following in the Pettisville Cemetery. The
Memorial Service was held at Central Mennonite in charge of Pastor
Charles Gautsche, John Schrock, and Jim Bartholomew.
