Mary Zehr;
Lind, Mary Zehr
Mary Zehr Lind was born July 26, 1910, near Wood River, Neb., to
Peter and Katie Jantzi Zehr. She died Dec. 2, 1988, in Salem,
Ore., of an apparent heart attack at the age of 78.
She moved with her family from Nebraska to Albany, Ore., when she
was 8 years old. She became a member of Fairview (Ore.)
Mennonite Church at about 12 years of age, when she [was]
baptized. At the time of death, she was a member of
Sheridan (Ore.) Mennonite Church.
She was married to Lloyd Lind on Nov. 3, 1929, at the Fairview
Church, with Norman A. Lind performing the ceremony. The
couple moved from Albany to the Salem area in 1947, where they
lived until May 1988, when they moved to Woodburn [Ore.].
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; seven daughters, Pauline
King of Salem, [Ore.], Margaret Wyse of Nairobi, Kenya, Helen
Thomas of Charleston, W.V., Ruby Scruggs of Eugene, [Ore.],
LaVerne Lind of Portland, [Ore.], Eilene Snyder of Salem, [Ore.],
and Leona Biggs of Silver Springs, Nev.; seven sons, Clifford of
Eugene, [Ore.], Norman of Grants Pass, [Ore.,], Allen of Goshen,
Ind., Kenneth of Portland, [Ore.,], Glenn of Harrisonville, Mo.,
Lester of Harman, W.Va., and Robert of LaGrangeville, N.Y.; a
sister, Viola King of Hesston, Kan.; two brothers, Oliver Zehr of
Halsey, [Ore.,], and Ray Zehr of Hesston, Kan.; 34 grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 7, 1988, at Fairview Mennonite
Church, with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
