Crossgrove, Walter

            Walter C. Crossgrove, 81, Archbold, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1997, in his home, following a brief illness.

            Born Oct. 14, 1915, near Archbold, he was a son of Charles and Mary (Wyse) Crossgrove, and Married Lucille Wyse on June 11, 1936.  A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he farmed, and was head maintenance man at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold, from 1969 to 1981, and was a charter member of Zion Mennonite Church.

 Survivors include his wife, Lucille; two sons, William (Hannelore) Crossgrove, Providence, R.I., and Rodney Crossgrove, Palm Springs, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Ronny (Juliene) Wise, West Unity, and Mrs. Ronald (Norma) Reynolds, Archbold; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph Crossgrove, and Chauncey Crossgrove, both of Archbold; three sisters, Cora Crossgrove, Mary Schrock, and Laura Baer, all of Archbold.   Memorial services were today, Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the Zion Mennonite Church with Ron Guengerich and Dee Swartz as the officiating pastors.  Burial preceded the service in the Pettisville Cemetery.                     [Obit: Archbold (Ohio) Buckeye, 1997]

Fielitz, Gaylord

            Gaylord D. Fielitz, 82, rural Archbold, owner and operator of the Myers Slaughter House for many years, died Wednesday, June 18, 1997, in Wauseon, after a short illness.

            Born in Stryker on Jan. 17, 1915, he was a son of John and Verna (Graber) Fielitz.  He married Martha Grieser on Oct. 6, 1938, and she preceded him in death in 1988.

            His membership included Lockport Mennonite Church, near Stryker, and the Archbold Chamber of Commerce.

            Surviving are two sons: Ron (LuAnn) Fielitz, West Unity; Lynn (Diana) Fielitz, Walden, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. David (Susan) Matthew, Van Wert; six granddaughters; one sister, Orpha Klopfenstein, Archbold; three brothers: Dale Fielitz, Archie Fielitz, and John Fielitz, all of Archbold.

            A memorial service was held on Saturday, 3 p.m., in the Lockport Mennonite Church, with Allen G. Rutter as the officiating pastor.  Burial was in the Lockport Cemetery.           [Obit: Archbold (Ohio) Buckeye, 1997]

Frey, Kathryn E.

            Kathryn E. Frey, 78, rural Wauseon, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 11, 1997, at the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, where she was admitted earlier that morning. She had been in failing health the past six months.

            Born Dec. 1, 1918, near West Unity, she was a daughter of Gideon and Eliza (Beck) Amstutz, and married A. Dale Frey on Nov. 21, 1940.  She lived near Archbold for many years, and then moved near Wauseon in 1992.  A homemaker, she was a charter member of the Zion Mennonite Church, Archbold.

            Survivors include her husband, A. Dale Frey; four sons, Gene Frey, Las Vegas, Nev., David Frey, Minneapolis, Minn., Steven Frey, Archbold, and Randall Frey, Urbana, Ill.; five granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edythe Lederman, Leo, Ind., and Mrs. Walter (Virgie) Stuckey, West Unity.

            Memorial services were Friday, 11 a.m., at Zion Mennonite Church with Ron Guengerich and Dee Swartz the officiating pastors.  Burial preceded the memorial service in the Pettisville Cemetery.           [Obit: Archbold (Ohio) Buckeye, 1997]
