Crossgrove, Chauncey

            Chauncey W. Crossgrove, 76, rural Archbold, died Monday morning, Aug. 17, 1998, in his home, following a brief illness.

            Born Sept. 21, 1921, near Archbold, he was a son of Charles and Barbara (Roth) Crossgrove, and married Kathryn Roth on Feb. 25, 1942.  A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he was a dairy farmer.  He was a member of the Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.

            Surviving are his wife, Kathryn; two sons, Stephen (Barb) Crossgrove, West Unity; and Alan Crossgrove, Archbold; three daughters, Nancy Crossgrove, Archbold; Ruth Ann Yoder, Stryker; and Mrs. Dave (Lois) Stoltzfus, Archbold; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Crossgrove; three sisters, Cora Crossgrove, Mary Schrock, and Laura Baer, all of Archbold.

            Memorial services are tomorrow, Thursday, 11 a.m. at the Lockport Mennonite Church with Mark Miller, Wendy Miller, and James Groeneweg are the officiating pastors.  Burial will precede in the Lockport Cemetery.  Calling hours are from 5-9 p.m. today, Wednesday.

Fenton, Evelyn  I.

            Evelyn I. Fenton, 67, Wauseon, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, following an extended illness.  She had been employed by Winor Canning, Wauseon, and Foster Canning, Napoleon, prior to her retirement.  She also had worked as a nurses aide at the former Detwiler Hospital.          

            Born in Wauseon on Jan. 15, 1931, she was the daughter of Eldon and Sylvia (Nafziger) Merillat.  In 1953 she married Raymond Fenton and he survives.  She was a member of Tedrow Mennonite Church.

            Also surviving are five sons, Robert, Max, David, Thomas, and William, Wauseon; three daughters, Barbara Stewart, Tedrow; Sandra Lemley, and Lori Rice, Wauseon; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Also surviving is her mother Sylvia Merillat, Wauseon; brother John Merillat, Wauseon; and two sisters, Lois May, Viola, Ark.; and Elaine Noe, Decatur, Ga.

            A memorial service was at 11 a.m. Monday at the Tedrow Mennonite Church with Randy Nafziger as officiating pastor.

Frey, Glenferd

Glenferd Frey, 80, of Fairlawn Village, Archbold, died Sunday evening, July 26, 1998, at Fulton Manor, Wauseon, where he had resided the past 2 ½ weeks, having been failing in health the past six months.

Born Oct. 17, 1917, near Wauseon, he was a son of Ezra and Cora (Miller) Frey, and Married Marjorie Grieser on Sept. 30, 1942.  He lived at rural Wauseon for many years before moving to Archbold in 1994.  He was a farmer and worked at the former L.B. Frey Plumbing & Heating, Wauseon.  Since retirement, he was a night Watchman at Yong Spring & Wire, Archbold.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; one brother, Vernon, (Marie) Frey, Archbold; and Orpha Frey, who resides at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold.

Memorial services are Wednesday, today, 11 a.m. at the Zion Mennonite Church, Archbold, with Dee Swartz and Randy Nafziger as the officiating pastors.  Burial preceded in the Pettisville Cemetery.
