Selma F. Sauder, 85, Archbold,
died Thursday, Sept. 10,
1998, at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold, where she had resided since March
19, 1998.
Born Jan.
12, 1913, near Archbold, she was a daughter of Henry and Mary (Grieser)
Gautsche. She married Roy E. Sauder on Jan. 25, 1934, who survives. A
lifelong
resident of the Archbold/Pettisville area, she cleaned at the Pettisville School,
and was a volunteer quilter at Sauder Village.
A charter member
of the Tedrow
Mennonite Church,
she belonged to its WMSC.
Also
surviving are four daughters: Virginia Frank, Archbold; Mrs. Sam (Joan)
Ozuzu,
Pensacola, Fla., Mrs. LaMar (Eloise) Miller, Archbold; and Mrs. Oren
(Arlene)
Horst, Topeka, Ind.; five sons, Robert (Pam) Sauder, Pioneer; Duane
(Nedra)
Sauder, Archbold; John (Lois) Sauder, Goshen, Ind.; R. Wendell
(Veronica)

Memorial
services were Sunday, 4 p.m., at the Tedrow Mennonite
Church,
with Randy Nafziger and Charles Gautsche as the officiating pastors.

Short,
Dorothy M. Short
Dorothy M. Short, 77, rural
Archbold, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, in her home.
Born June 7, 1921, near Archbold, she was the
daughter of Nelson and Ida (Neuhauser) Short. She married Ivan J. Short
on June 9, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1996. A
lifelong resident of the same farm, she worked at the former flashlight
factory, Wauseon, and then at Fore-Craft, Archbold. She was a member of
the West Clinton Mennonite Church, near Pettisville.
Surviving is one son, Wendell (Rita) Short, McComb;
and one grandson, Ethan.
Services were today, Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the West
Clinton Mennonite Church with Edward Diener and Dan Young as the
officiating pastors. Burial followed in the Pettisville Cemetery.

LaMar J.
LaMar J. Short, 68, West Unity,
died Saturday afternoon, July 4, 1998, at the Hospital of Williams
County, Montpelier.
Born on March 9, 1930, near Stryker, he was the son
of Leland and Ruth (Beck) Short. He married Doris Schmucker on Feb. 16,
1952, and she survives. He was a lifelong resident of the Stryker/West
Unity area and worked as a farmer, and with Short Construction until
his retirement three years ago.
He was a member of the Lockport Mennonite Church,
rural Stryker, and the Lockport Quintet since 1958. He was a trustee
for the Lockport Cemetery, and served as an eight-year member of the
Stryker Board of Education.
Surviving in addition to his wife Doris are three
sons; Gordon (Pat) Short, Archbold; Randy (Deb) Short, West Unity; Lynn
(Karlene) Short, Pettisville; two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Kathi) Bauer,
Montpelier; Mrs. Mark (Kris) Griffiths, Hudson, Ohio; 18 grandchildren;
one brother, Arlo Short, Stryker; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Arva)
Beck, Archbold; and Mrs. Donald D. (Romaine) Beck, Pettisville.
Memorial services are today, Wednesday, 11 a.m., in
the Lockport Mennonite Church with Allen Rutter, Mark Miller, Wendy
Miller, and Jim Groeneweg officiating. Burial is in the Lockport
Cemetery.

Pearl B. Smith
Pearl B. Short, 90, Livonia,
Mich., died Friday morning in Hope Nursing Home in Michigan.
Born March 7, 1908, in Eureka, Ill., she was the
daughter of Peter and Fannie (Gautsche) Smith. In 1932, she married
Harry Short, who died in 1955. A former West Unity resident, she was a
member of the Lockport Mennonite Church, and worked at Sauder's,
Archbold.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Denzel (Merna) Short,
Livonia; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were at 11 a.m. Tuessday in Lockport
Mennonite Church with Mark Miller, Wendy Miller, and Walter Stuckey as
the officiating pastors. Burial was in Lockport Cemetery.

Willard C. "Bill"
Willard C. "Bill" Short, 79,
Pettisville, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, in his home, following a
lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 11, 1918, near Wauseon, he was a son of
Cletus and Mary (Wyse) Short, and married Mary Eicher on Feb. 28, 1941.
A lifelong resident of the Wauseon/Pettisville area, he farmed until
retiring in 1980, and he also, with his wife, owned and operated the
former Short's 20A Restaurant, and the former Country Squire
Restaurant, Archbold. He was a member of the Central Mennonite Church,
and attended the Tedrow Mennonite Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters,
Judy Blosser, Wauseon; and Jan Cobb. Pettisville; nine grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter (llva) Short, Archbold;
three sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Doris) King, Wauseon; Mrs. Marvin J.
(Deloris) Wyse, Pettisville; and Mrs. Wes (Evelyn) Wyse, Archbold.
Memorial services were Saturday, 4 p.m., Central
Mennonite Church, with Randall Nafziger and Charles Gautsche as the
officiating pastors. Burial preceded the service in the Pettisville
Cemetery.

Vesta M. Miller
Vesta M. Stamm, 77, rural
Wauseon, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, in her home.
Born Sept. 19, 1920, near Archbold, she was a
daughter of Henry and Amanda (Short) Miller, and married Harold Stamm
on Nov. 24, 1949. She lived most of her life-time in the Wauseon area.
A registered nurse, she worked at Detwiler Memorial Hospital, Wauseon,
and later taught Lamaze classes at the Fulton County Health Center,
Wauseon. She was a charter member of the Tedrow Mennonite Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harold; a son, Jan
(Teresa Ferner) Stamm, Wauseon; a daughter, Mrs. Jonathan (Anda) Lind,
Manassas, Va.; six grandchildren; one brother, Delmar Miller, Oregon
City, Oregon; six sisters, Mrs. Charles (Bernice) McDowell, Youngstown;
Alice Miller, Mayfield Heights; Mrs. Orval (Lois) Riegsecker, Archbold;
Mrs. Carl (Arleta) Unzicker, Calhan, Colo.; Mrs. Robert (Marilyn)
Newsome, Shaker Heights; and Mrs. Clark (Phyllis) Gerber, Cleveland.
Memorial services were Monday, 11 a.m. at the Tedrow
Mennonite Church with Randy Nafziger as the officiating pastor. Burial
preceded the service in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Bertha L. Stuckey, 86,
Archbold, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 11, 1998, at Fairlawn Haven
Nursing Home; Archbold, where she was a resident since Nov. 1, 1991.
Born Jan. 23, 1912, near Pettisville, she was a
daughter of Aaron and Anna (Rupp) Frey. She married John W. Stuckey on
April 12, 1934, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1979. A
lifelong resident of the Archbold area, she was a member of the
Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker, where she was active in WMSC,
and a long-time Sunday School and Bible School teacher.
Surviving are one son, Allen (Jeanne) Stuckey,
Elkhart, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Annaabelle) Lerch,
Jackson, Wyo.; Mrs. Mike (Orlene) Mason, Archbold; and Mrs. Steve
(Louise) Rudo, North Royalton; nine grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; three brothers, Elias Frey, Archbold; Jesse Frey,
Phoenix, Ariz.; and A. Dale Frey, Pettisville; four sisters, Grace
Short, Pettisville; Ivah Beck, and Mrs. Joseph (Ada) Schrock, both of
Archbold; and Mrs. Charles (Velma) Kamp, Ridgeville Comers.
Memorial services were Saturday, 11 a.m. at the
Lockport Mennonite Church with Allen Rutter, Wendy Miller, and Charles
Kamp as the officiating pastors. Burial preceded in the Lockport
Cemetery.

Stuckey,
Joseph
Joseph Stuckey, 83, formerly of
rural West Unity, died at Hillside Nursing Home, rural Bryan, Monday,
Sept. 28, 1998, after a lengthy illness.
A son of Aaron . and Sarah (Eicher) Stuckey, he
farmed in the West Unity area his entire life. He was a member of
Lockport Mennonite Church.
Survivors include his wife, Berneda (Nofziger); one
daughter, Mrs. Michael (Rita) Detwiler, West Unity; three sons, Wyman,
Pioneer, Ohio; Max, Westover, Md.; and Tim, West Unity; four brothers,
Walter. and Earl, West Unity; Ivan, Burr Oak, Mich.; and Arthur,
Archbold; two sisters, Anna Aeschliman, Stryker; and Clara Frey,
Wauseon; and nine grandchildren.
Private burial services were today, Wednesday, 10
a.m., Lockport Cemetery, followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at the
church with Allen Rutter, Mark and Wendy Miller as the officiating
pastors.
