Waidelich, Arvilla F. Gingerich

Arvilla F. Waidelich, 72, Archbold, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in her home, following an extended illness.
   
Born Feb. 4, 1927, near Kalona, Iowa, she was a daughter of Jeff and Ida (Yoder) Gingerich, and married Marvin Waidelich on April 11, 1992. A nurse for 34 years, she retired in 1992, and moved to Archbold. She was a volunteer at Care & Share, Archbold. Her memberships included West Clinton Mennonite Church and the Mennonite Nurses Association.
   
Survivors include her husband, Marvin; three sons, Rex (Nancy) Waidelich, Pettisvi11e: Jay (Joyce) Waidelich, Sugar Creek, Ohio; and Lee (Shawn) Waidelich, Pettisville; two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Susan) Lantz, Springfield, Tenn.; and Mrs. Vern (Bette) Dahl, Archbold; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Omar (Mary) Miller, Mabel Gingerich, and Elsie Gingerich, all of Kalona, Iowa.
   
Services were Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the West Clinton Mennonite Church with James Roynon and Don Penner as the officiating pastors. Burial followed in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Wideman, Edna Fern (Yoder) was born on July 2, 1910, in Milford, Nebraska, the eldest of four children born to David and Lucinda (Stauffer) Yoder. She passed away quietly on January 28, 1999, in the Tofield Health Centre, due to heart failure.

Edna was baptized at the age of 13 in the Salem Mennonite Church at Tofield where she remained, faithful to her Lord all her life. She served as Sunday School teacher, in WMSC, essays, choirs, etc. She was also a public school teacher for a total of 13 years, leaving home as a young girl for her training and first teaching position at Blueberry Mountain. On July 2, 1936, Edna married John Wideman who predeceased her on April 1, 1994. They farmed together for 40 years just 6 miles south of Tofield.

Surviving to mourn her passing are their three children and families: Dolores and husband Jacob Eckert of Brooks, AB, Joseph and wife Maria (Turi) of Tofield, AB, Lucille and husband Dennis Boettger of McLennan, AB, 9 grandchildren and spouses, 7 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and spouses, 8 step-great grandchildren, two sisters: Lavanda Wideman and Edith (Marvin) Boettger, and many relatives and friends. Edna was also predeceased by her mother in 1956, her father in 1976, her brother Joseph as an infant in 1915, a granddaughter Rita Lehman in 1973, a son-in-law Marvin Lehman in 1978 and a daughter-in-law Glenna Wideman in 1993.

Edna will be remembered for her excellent teacher traits, as well as her faithful service in her church and her love and service to family and friends. Funeral services were held in Salem Mennonite Church, Tofield, AB on Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, with Pastor Richard Payne and Paul Voegtlin officiating. Interment in the church cemetery."

Wyse, Nellie Marie Schmucker

Nellie Marie Wyse, 74, Archbold, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 19, 1999, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home, Archbold. She had been in ill health for several years.
   
Born July 8, 1924, near Stryker, she was a daughter of Myron and Herma (Short) Schmucker. She married Warren E. Wyse on Oct. 8, 1942. A resident of the Stryker area all her 1ife, she was a homemaker and retired United States Department of Agriculture meat inspector. She was a member of the Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.
   
Survivors include her husband, Warren; three sons, Jerry (Lois) Wyse, Haven, Kan.; Ronald (Karen) Wyse, Camden, Mich.; and Kenneth (Brenda) Wyse, Creston, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Sandra) Miller, Elkhart, Ind.; Mrs. Jay (Cynthia) Preston, Mosinee, Wis.; 15 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Maurice Schmucker, Archbold; and Walter Schmucker, Goshen, Ind.; four sisters, Mrs. Mahler (Virgie) Wyse, and Mrs. Vincent (Mary) Beck, both of Archbold; Anna Rose Fuentes, Elkhart, Ind. and Mrs. Virgil (Carol Jean) Eddy, Barnesville, Ohio.
   
Services are Friday, 2:30 p.m. at the Lockport Mennonite Church with Allen Rutter and Mark Miller the officiating pastors. Burial follows in the Lockport Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church from 2-5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Wyse, Warren E.

Warren E. Wyse, 76, Archbold, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at Heartland of Wauseon, where he had resided since. Sept. 29, 1999.
   
Born Jan. 3, 1923, near Stryker, he was a son of Joseph and Mabel (Short) Wyse. He married Nellie Schmucker on Oct. 8, 1942, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 1999. He farmed in the Stryker area for many years, worked at the former Challenge Cook Bros., Bryan, and also was a clerk for Yoder & Frey Auction, Archbold, for many years before retiring in 1996 and moving to Archbold. He was a member of the Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.
   
Surviving are three sons, Jerry (Lois) Wyse, Haven, Kan., Ronald (Karen) Wyse, Camden, Mich., and Kenneth (Brenda) Wyse, Creston, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Sandra) Miller, Elkhart, Ind.; and Mrs. Jay (Cynthia) Preston, Mosinee, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Mahler (Virgie) Wyse, Archbold.
   
Services were Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at the Lockport Mennonite Church. Allen Rutter and Mark Miller were the officiating pastors. Burial followed in the Lockport Cemetery.

Zaerr, Eugene J.

Eugene J. Zaerr, 64, Archbold, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, in his home, following a year struggle with cancer.
   
Born April 18, 1935, near Archbold, he was a son of Raymond and Inez (Short) Zaerr, and married Arlene Beck on Sept. 7, 1957.  He lived most of his lifetime on the same farm, was a farmer, and drove school bus for Archbold Area Schools for about nine years.  He was a member of the Central Mennonite Church.   
   
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; one son, Ron (Elaine) Zaerr, Archbold; two daughters, Diane Zaerr, Elkhart, Ind.; and Mrs. Brian (Rachel) Hook, St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice Zaerr, Archbold, and Wayne (Sue) Zaerr, Swanton; and one sister, Mrs. Dale (Vieanna) Fielitz, Archbold.
   
Services were Sunday, 2:30 p.m. at the Central Mennonite Church.  Wayne Pipkin and Jeffrey Smith were officiating pastors. Burial followed in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Zehr, Mary Helmuth


July 1, 1916 - Dec. 31, 1999

Mary Zehr, 83, of Albany [Oregon] died Friday in Scio [Oregon].  She was born in Millersburg, Ohio, to Gideon and Fanny (Miller) Helmuth.  She married Oliver Zehr March 13, 1945, in Louisville, Ohio.  They moved to Albany in 1945.

Mrs. Zehr belonged to the Tangent Mennonite Church, and devoted her time to her family and church.   She had a strong desire to serve God.

Surviving are husband Oliver; sons Wilbur and Paul, both of Halsey; daughter Ruth (Mrs. Daniel) Hertzler of Chewelah, Wash.; and sisters Wilma Roth of Lebanon, [Oregon], Naomi Neuenschwander of Louisville, Ohio, and Orpha Miller of Chesapeake, Va.  There are 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Brothers Alvin, Gilbert, Atlee and Calvin and sisters Ruth and Iva died earlier.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home. Mrs. Zehr's funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Tangent Mennonite Church, followed by burial at Alford Cemetery south of Harrisburg on Highway 99E.

Zimmerman, Elsie Mary Weaver
, 88, of Camp Hill, died June 1, 1999 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp. Camp Hill, PA. Born Sept. 23, 1910 in Cumberland County, to Martin M. and Bertha (Bookwalter) Weaver and the widow of Owen J. Zimmerman. She was a member of the Slate Hill Mennonite Church, Camp Hill.

Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by a son, Owen J. at home; two brothers, Samuel R. Weaver and Joseph M. Weaver of Carlisle; a sister, Viola B. Weaver of Carlisle; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Funeral service was June 5, 1999 in Slate Hill Mennonite Church, with Pastor Paul Nisly, Bishop Harold Weaver Jr. and Pastor Roger Steffy will officiate at services. Burial was in Slate Hill Mennonite Church Cemetery Camp Hill, PA.
