Aeschliman, Elton J
.

WAUSEON - Elton J. Aeschliman, 80, of Wauseon, died Thursday evening, May 9, 2002, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio at Perrysburg, where he had been a patient since Monday, following a five-week stay at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon.
The son of Mary (Conrad) and Benjamin Aeschliman, he was born Sept. 28, 1921, near Wauseon. On April 15, 1949, he married Florence Short, and she survives.

A farmer, he was retired from Campbell Soup Co. in Napoleon after 16 years. He was in civilian public service for 3 1/2 years during World War II, serving in Terry, Mont. He was a charter member of the North Clinton Mennonite Church in Wauseon.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Reed (and wife, LiPo) Aeschliman of New Delhi, India; four daughters, Mrs. Amos (Carma) Yoder of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Tim (Merna) Bower of Wauseon, Mrs. Mark (Lila) Zellers of Sylvania and Mrs. Jeff (Vonda) Rickard of Toledo; eight grandchildren; a brother, Waldo (Barb) Aeschliman of Archbold; two sisters, Mrs. Ezra (Martha) Schmucker of Tangent, Ore. and Mrs. Sanford (Maxine) Thomas of Archbold.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Ellis and Ora Aeschliman; and two sisters, Ruth Schmucker and infant Lorene Aeschliman.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-9 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home in Archbold, and Monday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the North Clinton Mennonite Church in Wauseon.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the church, with Pastors Brad Faler and Gary Blosser officiating. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Norman was a farmer, and also worked for Eastern Warehouses, Pottstown, Pa.  He was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Bowmansville, Pa.

Services: Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Rd., East Earl, Pa. at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Sept26, 2002, with Rev. Chester E. Yoder and Rev. J. Calvin Wenger officiating.  Burial: Bareville Cem., Bareville, Pa.

Born: 3-27-1911, East Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.   Died: 9-5-2002, Ephrata, Pa.

Husband of: (1) Margie Mae Heagy Bauman (2) Verna L. Frey Bauman.  Son of: Samuel and Leah Steffy Bauman.

Survivors: Sons, Eugene E. Bauman, of Rexburg, Idaho, John S. of Sweet Home, Ore.
Daughters: Dorothy M. (Duane) Hutson of Rexburg, Ann L. (Lester) Sauder of Ephrata, Pa., Mary Jane (Aaron) Martin of New Holland.
Grandchildren: 26.  Great-grandchildren: 39.  Great-great-grandchildren: 6

Preceded in death by: Daughter Brunhilda Bauman, son, Chester W. and a brother William.

He was a former Missionary in the Harrisburg, Pa. area, and former member of Hess Mennonite Church, Lititz, Pa.  He aided in starting Hess Christian Day School.  He served as a deacon in Refton Mennonite Church.  He was the former owner of Bauman Lumber Co., now Musselman Lumber Co.

Services: Old Hess Mennonite Church, now the Dunkard Brethren Church, East Newport & Clay Roads,  Lititz, Pa. at 2 p.m. with Bishop Luke Martin and Richard Boll, Glenn Fox and LeRoy Martin officiating.  Burial in Adjoining Cem.

.

Born: 10-17-1915, Montgomery County, Pa.   Died: 10-12-2002, Ephrata, Lancaster County,  Pa.

Wife of: Harvey Beiler for 62 years.  Daughter of: William G. and Emma Bergey Gehman

Ada was a member of Hopewell Mennonite Church at Elverson, Pa.  She was active in the sewing circle.  She enjoyed reading, and she and her husband loved traveling.

Survivors:  Son, Jay Harvye Beiler of San Diego, Calif.  Daughters, Ruth (Michael) Hollinger of Leola, Pa., and Rachel (Phil) Blanck of Lititz, Pa.
Grandchildren: 3

Brother, John B. (Betty) Gehman of Barto.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Abraham Gehman; and three sisters, Martha Moyer, Mary Longacre and Anna Longacre.

Wife of: David Benner, died 1999.  Daughter of: Isaac and Frances Mellinger Rohrer.

Survivors: Daughter, Margaret (Paul) Reitz of Smoketown, Pa.  Sons, Nelson of Gap, Pa., Henry of Ronks, Pa. and David of Lancaster, Pa.

Elizabeth was a life member of Paradise Mennonite Church, Paradise, Pa.  She and her husband operated Benner's Tourist Home.

Benner, Robert W.
June 18, 1910 - July 20, 2002

Benner, Robert W., 92, formerly of Akron, died Jul 20, 2002 at Landis Homes, Lititz, after a long illness. He was born June 18, 1910 to Charles and Mabel Benner. His wife was Elma Denlinger Benner she died 1989. Robert began his career in shoe production at Miller Hess & Co., Akron, in 1928 and retired as manager of The Highland Shoe Co. in 1982 after 54 years with the company. He was a member of Metzler's Mennonite Church, Ephrata, PA.

Surviving is son (W. Henry), daughter (M. Elaine Martin), 2 grandchildren; brother Harold W. and sister Ruth Leaman.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Elma, sister Mary and brother Charles

Memorial service was at Metzler's Mennonite Church Epharta, PA with burial at Groffdale brick Mennonite Cemetery, Leola, PA

Bixler, Wilma F. Shaum


Jan. 25,1918-Aug 9, 2002

GOSHEN - Wilma F. Bixler, 84, of 1325 Greencroft Dr., formerly of 332 Roxbury Park, died at 4:41 a.m. Friday (Aug. 9, 2002) at Greencroft Nursing Center.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1918, to Harvey and Matilda (Weise) Shaum in Osceola and married Glen Bixler on Sept. 4, 1937, in Harrison Township.

Mrs. Bixler is survived by her husband; a son, Glen (Carol) Bixler of Goshen; a daughter, Mrs. Doug (Mary Jane) Roth of Goshen; a sister, Beatrice Martin of Elkhart; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were six brothers, Joseph, Lawrence, Martin, John, George and Milton Shaum; and four sisters, Mary Eby, Barbara Hoover, Nora Laurie and Grace Shaum.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rieth-RohrerEhret Funeral Home, where the service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday. day. Pastors Klaudia Smucker,  and Firman Gingerich of College Mennonite Church will preside.

Burial will be at Violett Cemetery.

Mrs. Bixler was a homemaker and owner/operator of Bixler Insurance Agency for 10 years. She attended College Mennonite Church.

Memorials may be given to College Mennonite Church or Greencroft Nursing Center.

Member of: Willow Street Mennonite Church where he served as trustee, and cared for the adjoining cemetery.  He also taught Sunday School here.
He was active in hunting and fishing and a member of the Lampeter Community Fair board of directors for many years..  He worked for P.L. Rohrer and Brothers in sales and in the warehouse, and drove School bus.

Services: Memorial service at Willow Street Mennonite Church on Monday, April 29, 2002, at 7:00 p.m.  Private burial in Willow Street Mennonite Cem..

Buchwalter, Jay L.
January 13, 1917 - August 19, 2002

Buchwalter, Jay L., 85, of Dalton, Ohio died Aug. 19, 2002 at his residence. He was born in Dalton on Jan. 13, 1917, to Harry and Charlotte (Forrer) Buchwalter and was united in marriage to Agnes Lehman on Dec. 25, 1938 in Orrville. She died Jan. 15, 1992.

He is survived by a son, Larry J. (Carol) Buchwalter of Orrville and a daughter, Carol A. (Bobby) Dalton of Science Hill, Ky.; grandchildren, James G. Buchwalter, Mark R. (Sue) Buchwalter and Paula (Douglas) Steiner of Orrville, Philip (Amber) Buchwalter of Dalton and Stephen and Krystal Dalton of Science Hill, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Katelynn and Megan Buchwalter; brother, Alvin Buchwalter of Dalton and sisters, Doris Thompson of Dalton and Wilma (James) Gibson of Massillo.

Preceded in death by his parents and his wife Agnes.

Services were August 22, 2002 at Pleasant View Mennonite Church with the Rev. John Miller officiating. Burial will take place in the Pleasant View Mennonite Cemetery, North Lawrence, Ohio.

Burkholder, Sara Joy


Sara Joy Burkholder, 25, Archbold, died Friday, March 15, 2002, at the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon.
 
Born in Monroe, Wis., on Dec. 16 1976, She was the daughter of Charles and Pamela (Clair) Rychner.  On July *, 2000, she married Jay Burkholder.
 
A seventh grade language arts teacher at Burr Road Middle School, Wauseon, she was a member of the PettisvIlle Missionary Church. She was a graduate of Archbold High School and Anderson (Ind.) University.
 
Surviving are her husband, Jay; an infant son, Jackson David: her parents, Charles and Pamela Rychener; two  brothers, Matthew (Julie) Rychener, and Joshua (Janelle) Rychener; one sister, Rebekah Rychener, Archbold; grandparents, William "Bill "and Ruth Clair, Archbold, and Dorothy "Chub" Rychener, Archbold. "
 
Services were yesterday,Tuessday, at 4 p.m. in the Pettisville Misssionary Church. John Horning and David Dyck were the officiating pastors. Burial was in Pettisville Cemetery.
