former Sunday School teacher.
Services: Viewing 1-2 pm followed by the funeral at Willow Street
Mennonite Church, 399 Penn Grant Road, Willow Street, Pa. on Friday,
April 1, 2005, with Rev. Robert A. Breneman and Rev. Gerald B. Garber
officiating. Interment in adjoining cemetery.

Hartzler,
Caroline Rebekah,
23 months, of Rittman, OH died October 17, 2005 at Rittman, Wayne
County, Ohio unexpectedly of a stroke at her home. She was born
November 2, 2003 at Medina, Medina County, Ohio to Michael and Sharon
(Stutzman) Hartzler.
Surviving with the parents are two sisters and one brother: Lydia
Katharine Hartzler, Abram (Abe) Daniel Hartzler, and Magdalena Grace
Hartzler, all of the home.
Memorial services were held October 20, 2005 at First Mennonite Church,
Wadsworth, Ohio, where she attended regularly with her parents. Burial
was in the adjoining cemetery.

Hartzler, Caroline
RITTMAN - Caroline Rebekah Hartzler, 23-month-old, daughter of
Michael D. and Sharon Stutzman Hartzler of Rittman, died Monday, Oct.
17, 2005, at her home.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 405
Trease Road, Wadsworth. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 9-10:45 a.m. at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman. For

Caroline was born Nov. 2, 2003, in Medina and had attended First
Mennonite Church in Wadsworth, with her family.
Surviving in addition to her parents, are a brother, Abe (Abram Daniel
Hartzler) and sisters, Lydia (Lydia Katharine Hartzler) and Maggie
(Magdalena Grace Hartzler), all of the home; grandparents, Erv (Welma
Mast) Stutzman and Elsie (Roger) Hartzler Maiwurm, all of Marshallville
and Emma (Bud Berndt) Stutzman of Orrville; great-grandmother, Lavina
Mumaw of Orrville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was
preceded in death by her grandfather Glenn Hartzler.

85, of
Albany, Oregon died September 21, 2005 at Albany, Oregon. He was
born September 26, 1919 at Hubbard, Oregon to Chester & Mary (King)
Hartzler.
On November 26, 1944 he was married to Ruby Gingerich who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Anita Lindberg, Kenneth Hartzler, Dale
Hartzler, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a brother, Sam Hartzler.
He was predeceased by siblings, Freddie Hartzler, Clifford Hartzler,
& Ethel Hartzler.
The funeral was held September 26, 2005 at Albany Mennonite Church,
Albany, Oregon with burial in Albany, Oregon.
He was a member of Mennonite Church USA.

2005.
Surviving are children, Cindy Eshleman, Janet Dean, Jim Herr, John

Hershberger, Edwin S.
GOSHEN -- Edwin S. Hershberger, 77, of 510 Colorado St., died at 7:15 a.m. Monday (June 13, 2005) at Goshen General Hospital.
He was born July 23, 1927, in Goshen, to Josiah and Rosa (Swartzentruber) Hershberger. On Aug. 5, 1947, in New Paris, he married Ellen Arlene Hoover.
She survives, along with three daughters, June (Fernando) Trcka, Sharon (Sam) Zepeda and Rita (Greg) Bontrager, all of Goshen; three sons, Jay (Beverly) Hershberger of New Paris, David (Shirley) Hershberger of Goshen and Daryl (Geri) Hershberger of Wolcottville; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roy (Eunice) Hershberger of Goshen and Chester (Carolyn) Hershberger of North Webster.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Hershberger and Ida Mae Hershberger.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour before the 10 a.m. Thursday service at Benton Mennonite Church, with Pastors Brenda Meyer and Douglas Kauffman officiating. Burial will be in Benton Township Cemetery, Goshen.
A cabinet maker, he had lived in the Goshen area since 1996. Most recently, he worked with Mennonite Disabilities Committee. He was a member of Benton Mennonite Church.

She was married to Paul Hershberger, who is deceased.

Hershberger, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held October 7, 2005 at Trinity Mennonite Church,
Glendale, Arizona.

Hershey, Kathryn Kreider, 93, of Landis Homes, Lititz, PA formerly of Lancaster, PA died December 9, 2005. Born May 17, 1912 in Kinzers, PA. Willis G. and Maggie Wenger Kreider. She was married for 71 years to the late Frank L. Hershey who died in October of 2003. She was a member of Mellinger Mennonite Church Lancaster, PA
Surviving are three sons, Wilbur, husband of Arlene Nolt Hershey of Bethel, Glenn B., husband of Audrey A. Loeffler Hershey, and Marvin F. Hershey, both of Lancaster; three daughters, Jeanette, sife ofAbram Z. Martin of New Holland, Jane, wife of Les Miniger, Irene Herzhey, both of Lanacaster;11grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great Grandsons; onesister S. Margret Denlinger of Litiz.
She was proceeded in death by a son Robert Dale Hershey, four brothers, Wilmer, Leroy,Lloyd, and Lester Kreider; two sisters Elizabeth Hart, Arlene Sensenig.
Funeral service was December 14, 2005 at Mellinger Mennonite Church, Lancaster, PA. Interment followed in the adjacent cemetery.

Hertzler, John Robert, 36, formerly of Elverson, PA, died July
24, 2005, near Palanchai, Thailand, in a motor vehicle accident. He was
born at Ephrata, PA to Truman R. and Virginia Mast Hertzler. He
was married to Janelle Shantz Hertzler.
John began service with Eastern Mennonite Missions in 1987 as a member
of Youth Evangelism Service (YES) Team to Belize. He served again in
1990 with YES in Costa Rica. From 1993-98 he served with EMM in
Tegucigalpa, Honduras, teaching in Pine Grove Academy. In 1999 he led a
YES Team to Thailand. John began long-term service in Thailand in 2000.
He and Janelle Shantz, who had begun service with EMM in Thailand four
years earlier, met at the EMM Discovery and Enrichment Retreat at Black
Rock in 2000, married in 2001, and have been serving together in
Thailand since that time. At the time of his death, John had served a
total of eleven years and five months in EMM short- and long-term
programs.
Survived by his wife and 18 month old son, Micah Jonathan Hertzler; His
parents and a sister, Anne Hertzler of Elverson, PA and brothers:
Philip, married to Annette Diffenbach Hertzler of Pamplin, VA, Thomas,
married to Helen Shantz Hertzler of Prospect, VA, Paul, married to
Linda Martin Hertzler, James, married to Debra Renno Hertzler and
Joseph, married to Karen Miller Hertzler of Elverson, PA and nieces and
nephews.
Funeral service was August 2, 2005 at Hopewell Christian Fellowship,
Elverson, PA with Pastors Mark Kraybill and Daniel Hoellwarth, and John
Szymanski officiating. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Hess, A. Elizabeth "Lizzie" G. Hess, 82, of Ephrata, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 in the Ephrata hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born Feb 10, 1923 in Martic Township, Lancaster County to Jacob Huber Hess and Flora S. Good Hess. She was the wife of Paul L. Hess, Sr. he died Feb 27, 2005 3 days earlier. In October 2004 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She was a member of the Ephrata Mennonite Church and a former member of the Lancaster County Farm Women.
Survived by her 6 children: Paul L Jr. of Denver, married to Beverly Horning, James R, of Longmont, CO, married to Linda Hassler, Stanley W. of St. Peters, married to Mary Zook, Barbara A, of Lyndonville, VT, married to Timothy Hash and Henry R Hess of Ephrata. In addition to her children she had 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Also her sisters, Flora, married to the late Donald Ober, Miriam, married to Lester Gockley, Arlene, married to late Ben Shenk, Mildred, married to Arley Mundt and brothers, Warren and Oliver.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul and son Floyd N. and his wife, Kimberly Spurigo Hess. Also brothers Clarence, Henry, Wilbur, Wayne, and Sister Lillian, married to Harry Myers.
Funeral service was March 4, 2005, a joint service with her husband Paul L. Hess, Sr. at the Ephrata Mennonite Church Epharata, PA. Interment will be at the Metzler Mennonite Cemetery Epharta, PA

Hess, Paul Longnecker, Sr., 79 of Ephrata, PA died February 27, 2005. He was born January 2, 1926 in Stevens, PA to Elis S. and Macy (Longenecker) Hess. He was married to A. Elizabeth (Hess). They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 21, 2004. He was a member of the Ephrata Mennonite Church.
Survived by his wife Elizabeth and his children, Paul L. Jr. of Denver, married to Beverly (Horning), James R. of Longmont, CO, married to Linda (Hassler), Stanley W. of St. Peters, married to Mary (Zook), Barbara A. of Lyndonville, VT, married to Timothy Hash and Henry R. Hess of Ephrata.

Corvallis, Oregon. She was born April 19, 1912 at Wood
River, Nebraska to Ira & Mary (Boshart) Stutzman and married to
Ernest J. Heyerly, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Mary Lee Strong (Sam Strong, Jr.P), John
Heyerly (Jeanne Berkey), and Daniel Heyerly (Anne Esche); 7
grandchildren and 16 grandchildren.

Albany, Oregon.

Hilty, Jennie E. Martin, 102, formerly of Sterling, OH died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, OH. She was born June 30, 1902, near Sterling, OH to Benjamin and Mary (Landis) Martin. She married Daniel W. Hilty on Nov. 26, 1939. He died Oct. 26, 1987. She was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church in Wooster, OH.
Survived by nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Daniel, and infant son died in 1944 and two brothers, Elam and Paul Martin.
Funeral service was March 3, 2005 at Crown Hill Mennonite Church with the Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Burial was in the Crown Hill Mennonite Cemetery Rittman, OH

Souderton, PA died September 30, 2005 at
Souderton Mennonite Home, Souderton, PA of complications from stroke
and heart disease. She was born February 19, 1918 at
Sellersville, Bucks Co., PA to Jacob & Ellen (Brunner)
Detweiler. On October 10, 1937, as Esther Detweiler, she married
David L. Histand, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, D. Merrill Histand & Joanne; Marie D
(Histand) Hackman & Dennis; 5 grandchildren, and 8
great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by a twin brother, Lester Detweiler.
The funeral was held October 5, 2005 at Rockhill Mennonite, Telford,
Bucks Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
She was a member of Mennonite Church USA.

tree-cutting accident. He was born to Emery & Mary (Miller)
Holsopple. He was married to Kathleen Yoder, who survives.

Ephrata Community Hospital, Ephrata, PA. He was born in New Holland,
PA, to Isaac Hurst and the late Lizzie Weaver Hurst. He was the husband
of Mary Z. Sensenig Hurst.
He was a member of South Hinkletown Mennonite Church.

Funeral service was May 23, 2005, at Farmcrest Chapel at Fairmount
Homes Ephrata, PA with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Weaverland
Mennonite Frame Church, East Earl Township, with Bishop Amos G. Martin
and ministers, Harlan Martin, Merle Nolt and Ivan Hurst officiating.
Interment was in Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery, East Earl, PA

Lester M., 86, died
September 12, 2005 at Lititz, Lancaster Co.,
PA of natural causes. He was born May 5, 1919 at Hinkletown,
Lancaster Co., PA to Noah & Lydia (Martin) Hurst.
On January 1, 1941 he was married to Bertha Landis, who survives.
Surviving are children, Evlyn Stisher, Darryl Hurst, Kenneth Hurst,
Elaine Muschlitz and Dianne Bretz, twelve grandchildren, and eleven
great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held September 17, 2005 at Forest Hill Church, Leola,
Lancaster Co., PA with burial in Eby Cemetary, Leola, Lancaster Co., PA.
He was a member of Mennonite Church USA.
