was born April 14, 1923 at Paradis, St.Charles Parish, LA to Adam Abel
Bergeron (11/19/ 1887-03/11/1968) and Lize Stephanie Griffin Bergeron
(07/06/1891-11/03/1949).
On September 7 1940 in Taft, St.Charles Parish, LA she was married to
Clarence Joseph Champagne who was born July 14, 1916 and died October
22, 2000.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Leblanc & husband Marvin, one
grandchild, three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Josephine (Lolly)
Arceneaux.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Enite Monier, Alex
Bergeron,Leonise LeBlanc, Leona Hymel, Clothile Arceneaux, Felix
Bergeron, Lucille Zeringue, Lucien Bergeron, and Percy Bergeron.
Memorial services were held July 12, 2007 at Des Allemands Mennonite
Church, Des Allemands, St.Charles Parish, LA with burial in the
adjoining cemetery.

causes. She was born March 9, 1926 at Havana, Cuba to Mario and
Mercedes Ayala. On August 12, 1944 she was married to Alberto
Chaple, who is deceased.
Surviving are Daughter-in-law, Jeanne Chaple, and one grandchild.
Also surviving is a brother, Mario Ayala. She was preceded in
death by two children, John and Rene.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Marlin Plank residence
in rural Arthur. Visitation was held prior to the funeral at the
residence. Burial was in Yoder Cemetery. Edwards Funeral Home, Arthur,
was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Chupp is survived by his wife, Anna J.; five sons, Eldon, Olen,
Danny, Lewi, and Melvin Chupp, all of Arthur; three daughters, Carolyn
Gingerich and Mary Ellen Kaufman, both of Arthur, and Esther Kaufman of
Tuscola; three brothers, Floyd Chupp of Lovington, Melvin Chupp of
Arcola, and Harvey Chupp of Arthur; two sisters, Martha Otto of
Humboldt and Lydia Palmer of Arthur; 22 grandchildren; and two great
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, and
one sister.
Mr. Chupp was a Salvage Store employee. He was a member of the Old
Order Amish Faith.

Julia was born April 12, 1999, in Warsaw. Along with her parents, survivors include three sisters, Susan, Laura and Doris Chupp, at home; two brothers, Steven and Darrin Chupp, at home; and grandarents Marvin and Sylvia (Schmucker) Mast and Levi and Mary (Yoder) Chupp, all of Etna Green. She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Sue Chupp.

Gertrude, 95, of Beatrice, NE died September 2, 2007 at Parkview
Center, Beatrice, NE. She was born March 4, 1912 near Beatrice,
NE to Jacob Peter and Helen (Goossen) Claassen. She was left
motherless on March 15, 1912 when she was only 11 days old. The
following year her father married, Margarete Goossen.
Brothers, Fred, Robert, and Arnold Claassen, sister Margaret (Claassen)
Hamm, brother-in-law John Hamm, and sister-in-law Anna Margret Claassen
preceded him/her in death.
Gertrude was a faithful Mennonite her entire life, supporting the
church, especially it's missionaries. She worked at the Mennonite
Deaconess Hospital for many years. Although Gertrude never married, her
local family was important to her, cooking many Sunday meals, and
caring for all those around her.
Memorial services were held September 5, 2007 at First Mennonite
Church, Beatrice, Nebraska with burial in the Mennonite Cemetery,
Beatrice, Nebraska.

Harrisonburg, Rockingham Co., VA from cancer. She was born May

Jane (Fronzoli) Beisel. Her father was born on March 7, 1940 and
her mother on February 14, 1939. They both survive.
On February 18, 2003 at Harrisonburg. VA she was married to Donald Ray
Dean who was born May 31, 1959 and survives.
Surviving are stepchildren, Heaven Leigh Dean and Patrick Dean and two
brothers, Brian Clair Beisel married to Sheri Markel Beisel, and Brent
Roy Beisel. An infant brother, Brent C. Beisel preceded her in
death.
Beth was a member of Redeeming Love Fellowship in Shenandoah Va.
She loved to sing and also enjoyed working with children.

Ronald James Dueck, 61, 2109-B Cambridge Drive, Goshen, died Wednesday
at 3:42 p.m. at Goshen General Hospital. He had been ill since June 15.
He was born on July 4, 1946 in Rosthern, Saskatche-wan, Canada, to
Arthur W. Dueck and Alice (Roth) Dyck.
On August 2, 1969, he married Deloris Schwartz in Pretty Prairie, Kan.
She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jocelyn (Curt) Powell, Tulsa, Okla.; and
a son, Joel Dueck, Goshen; two grandchildren, Cassie and Clay Powell;
and his mother Alice (Roth) Dyck, Rosthern, SK, Canada
He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Trudy Wiebe; and a
brother, Gary Dueck.
He had lived the last 16 years in Goshen and was vice president of
Group Business Development for Mennonite Mutual Aid, Goshen. He was a
member of College Mennonite Church.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Koinonia
Room at College Mennonite Church.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Fellowship
Hall at the church, where Rev. Firman Gingerich of College Mennonite

Archbold, Fulton Co., OH. She was born March 10, 1921 at Archbold,
Fulton Co., OH to Harley and Fannie (Aeschliman) Nofziger. She
was married to Elon Eash, who survives.
Surviving are children, William (Esther) Eash; Neal (Lori) Eash;
Marybeth (Greg) Watterson, nine grandchildren, and four
great-grandchildren.

2007 at Goshen, Indiana. She was born January 11, 1917 at Mio,
Michigan to David D. and Katie (Jantzi) Kauffman. David was born
April 27, 1870 and died March 19, 1949. Katie was born February 12,
1889 and died April 26, 1958.
On January 1, 1938 at Middlebury, Indiana she was married to Joe Eash,
who was born May 14, 1913 and died January 8, 1994.
Surviving are children, Fern (John) Knepp, Orlan (Sara) Eash, Olen
(Ella) Eash, Elwin (Ruth) Eash, 10 grandchildren, 13
great-grandchildren, and 4 step great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Adeline (Sam) Graber, and a brother, Alvin
(Mary) Kauffman.
Her siblings, Mayme Riegsecker, Barbara Frye, Maudie Graber, Louis
Kauffman, Floyd
Kauffman, Henry Kauffman and infant David Kauffman preceded her in
death.
Fannie was a homemaker and had worked at Wanberg Popcorn, Middlebury,
Yoder Popcorn, Topeka, and Varns and Hoover Hardware, Middlebury. She
was a member of First Mennonite Church, Middlebury, where she was very
active serving on several committees, sewing circles,
and taught Sunday school. She and her husband did volunteer service
work for nine years for the Mennonite Board of Missions in Elkhart as
hosts for the mission hostel, and they also served one year in 1985 at
Glencroft in Arizona.
Memorial services were held December 10, 2007 at First Mennonite
Church, Middlebury, Indiana with burial in Miller
Cemetery, Goshen, Indiana.

Thelma Susan Wenger, 89, of Hesston, Kansas (lived in Denver, CO
1943-2002) died December 21, 2007 at Hesston, Harvard Co., KS.
She was born October 3, 1918 at Canton, Kansas to Jonas and Anna
(Loucks) Wenger.
On May 9, 1943 at Denver, Colorado she was married to Donald Earl Egli,
who was born February 16, 1919 and died March 11, 1997. Thelma and Don
were founding members of First Mennonite Church of Denver and were the
first couple to be married at the church.
Surviving are children, LaDonna Faye Gaeddert (husband-John); Meredith
Ann Egli; Judy Lynne Yoder (husband-Fred); 5 grandchildren, 1
great-grandchild and a sister, Bertha Miller.
Four brothers, Russell Wenger, Norman Wenger, John Wenger, Marvin
Wenger, and a sister, Grace Zook preceded her in death.
Thelma was 18 when her mother died from complications due to burns from
their house fire. As the oldest daughter, this left Thelma with a lot
of responsibility. Thelma enjoyed photography, flower arranging,
woodcrafts, cloud and bird watching.

LITITZ, PA – Ruth Carper Eitzen died on 11 April 2007 of complications
related to treatment of a benign brain tumor.
Ruth was born on 20 July 1924 to Eva Weber Carper and Reuben Carper in
Brickerville, Pennsylvania. At 17 she moved with her family to Denbigh,
Virginia. She attended Eastern Mennonite College, in Virginia, and
graduated in 1948 from Goshen College, in Indiana. From 1950 to 1954,
she worked with Mennonite Central Committee in Europe, designing
educational materials for children. She married illustrator Allan
Eitzen on 12 July 1954, in Denbigh, Virginia. Ruth and Allan moved to a
country home in Barto, Pennsylvania, and had five children. After the
children left home, Ruth continued her education at Temple University,
where she earned a Master’s degree in creative writing.
Ruth is the author of several books for children including Ti Jacques
(1972), White Feather (1987), and Tara’s Flight (forthcoming, Boyds
Mills Press). She spent her last years working on a novel and tending
to her gardens of native flowers and plants. She also devoted herself
to organizing American sponsorship of the Sahara Children’s Home in
Nepal, which she had visited and worked with as an educational

Ruth is survived by her husband, Allan; five children—Hilda, Dirk, Ann,
Laura, and John; and eight grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday 28 April,
at Bally Mennonite Church, 1481 Route 100, Bally, Pennsylvania.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
