Mann, John Emerson, 78, of Goshen, IN died June 17, 2010 at the
same place. He was born July 7, 1931 at Elkhart, IN to Clifford
and Helen (Ebersole) Mann. On July 7, 1956 at Goshen, IN he was
married to Eleanor Jean Detwiler, who was born January 1, 1934 and
survives.
Surviving are two sons, James R. Mann, and Jay E. (Laurel) Mann, 3
grandchildren, two sisters, Lois Eberly, and Margaret (Wes) Steiner,
and a brother, Larry (Laurie) Hesed.
A brother, Robert Mann preceded him in death.
From 1951 to 1953 John worked in an alternative service program in
Puerto Rico. He also served two years in the PAX program, the
peace-based voluntary service program organized to rebuild homes and
communities in Germany following World War II.
John began his professional career at Miles Laboratories in Elkhart, IN
working as a microbiologist. In 1962 he entered Chicago
Osteopathic Medical School. After graduating in 1968 he
served patients in the rural Culver community and then began private
practice in Elkhart which lasted more than 30 years.
Memorial services were held June 21, 2010 at College Mennonite Church,
Goshen, IN with burial in College Mennonite Church Memorial Garden.

Marner, Jason Jay, 22, of Brighton, Iowa died July 1, 2010 at
Harrisonburg, VA from a motorcycle accident.
He was born July 22, 1987 at Washington, Iowa to Stan and Joann (Roth)
Marner. Stan was born February 3, 1957 and Joann was born December 13,
1957. They survive along with Jason's two brothers, David
(Hanna) Marner of Hopkinsville, KY and Christopher Marner of
Washington, IA.
Jason lived life with enthusiasm. His easy smile and infectious laugh
will always be remembered. He was a genuine friend to many,
compassionate and a good listener. His dream for many years was to fly
and he hoped someday to work in Missionary Aviation. He enjoyed flying,
friends, motorcycles, music, eating, fishing...not necessarily in that
order.
He graduated from Iowa Mennonite School in 2006, Hesston College,
Hesston, KS in 2008, with an AA in Aviation. He then attended Eastern
Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, VA where he graduated in May of
2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After a
6-week cross-cultural course with students from EMU, he looked forward
to being a full time pilot. He began working at Dynamic Aviation on
June 28 where he had served as an intern for the past two years. He was
a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, Wayland, IA.
Memorial services were held July 7, 2010 at Iowa Mennonite School,
Kalona, Iowa with burial in Lower Deer Creek Cemetery, Kalona, IA.

Katie Marner, 82, of
Chesterville passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2010, at
Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Pleasant
View Church in rural Arcola. Rev. Howard Kuhns will officiate. Burial
will be in the Pleasant View Church Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday
afternoon and evening at the church. Edwards Funeral Home is assisting
with funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Marner was born August 12, 1928, in Saltillo, Ohio. She was a
daughter of Valentine B. and Elizabeth (Erb) Beachy. She married John
G. Marner on September 29, 1949, in Limpytown, Ohio. He passed away on
November 8, 1985.
She is survived by five children, Andrew J. Marner and wife Lynn of
Arthur, Valentine J. Marner and wife Lydia of Arcola, Daniel J. Marner
and wife Irene of Constantine, Michigan, Sarah Ann Marner-Tomm of
Bement, and Dorothy Hostetler and husband Reuben of Chesterville; 19
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ben V. Beachy and
wife Dorothy of Fresno, Ohio, and Atlee V. Beachy and wife Patsy of
Monroe, Georgia; and one sister, Mary Ann Wolfer and husband Leslie of
McMinnville, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son-in-law,
Mark Edward Tomm; one brother, Andrew V. Beachy; and one sister, Fannie
Miller.
Mrs. Marner was a member of the Pleasant View Church in rural Arcola.
In Katie's home the coffee was always on, and there was time for
friends old or new.

Marner, Ora Lynn, 97, of Wellman, Washington County, Iowa died
January 8, 2010 at the same place. He was born June 16, 1912 in
Iowa County, Iowa to Eli & _____ (_____) Marner. He was
married to Eunice Lenore Reber, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, James and Charleen Marner; and Loris and Merle
Miller, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 6
great-great-grandchildren.
A brother, John Marner, and two sisters, Vertie Marner and Susan Roth
preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held January 12, 2010 at Lower Deer Creek
Mennonite Church Kalona, Johnson County, Iowa with burial in the
adjoining cemetery.

Marner, Wallace Dale, 84, of Kalona, Johnson Co., Iowa died
November 29, 2010 at Iowa City, Johnson Co., Iowa. He was born
March 29, 1926 at Kalona, Iowa to Chris and Mary (Gingerich)
Marner. On June 20, 1948 at Wellman, Washington Co., Iowa he was
married to Leola Verle Stoltzfus.
Surviving are a son, Dale & Linda Marner, a daughter, Karen and
Duane Gugel 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a sister, Helen E.
Yoder, and a brother, Ray Marner.
Memorial services were held December 3, 2010 at Lower Deer Creek
Mennonite Church, Kalona, Iowa with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Martin, Anna Shenk Witmer, 87, of Manheim, PA died November 30,
2010. Born in Manheim Township, Lancaster Co., PA to Benjamin H. and
Ella (Erb) Shenk. Her first husband and the father of her children, J.
Abram Witmer, passed away in 1960. Her second husband, Earl L. Martin,
preceded her in death in 1991. Anna was a member of Erisman Mennonite
Church.
Survived by her children Lois (Witmer) wife of Rev. David Gehman of
Parkesburg, PA and J. Robert Witmer of Manheim, PA; two grandchildren
Sarah Ann wife of Benjamin Bixler, and Matthew David husband of
Samantha Gehman; two great-grandchildren Calvin and Evangeline Bixler.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands and a daughter Orpha Mae
Witmer; a great-granddaughter Susannah Rose Bixler; three sisters
Esther Brubaker, Naomi Brenneman, and Ruth Geib; and two brothers Henry
and Benjamin E. Shenk.
Funeral service was December 4, 2010 at Erisman Mennonite Church.
Interment was in Erisman Mennonite Cemetery Manheim PA.

Martin, Arlene E. Wenger, 85, went to her heavenly home on
Monday, November 29, 2010, at Landis Homes Retirement Community. Born
March 24, 1925, she was a daughter of Eli D. and Anna Mary (Shirk)
Wenger and was raised in Blue Ball. She was married for 56 years to J.
Horace Martin, who preceded her in death in August 2005.
Arlene is survived by seven children: Philip, husband of Joyce (Musser)
Martin, of York, Miriam, wife of Nicholas Frey, of Mountville, Thomas,
husband of Louisa Weber, of Selinsgrove, Fredrick, of Saratoga Springs,
NY, Anne, wife of Duane Bontrager, of Harrisonburg, VA, James, of
Lititz, and Barbara, of Millersville. She is also survived by 10
grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and three siblings: Betty
(Wenger) Greider, of Lancaster, Eli C. Wenger, of Akron, and Susan
(Wenger) Smucker, of Harrisburg, OR.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen (Wenger) Eby and Miriam
(Wenger) Martin. Arlene attended Goshen College and taught in three
one-room schools prior to her marriage to Horace in June of 1949.
Throughout her adult life, she was a consummate mother and homemaker,
reader, and Scrabble player. In recent years, she enjoyed visiting with
family, encouraging others, and the many activities in which she was
involved at Landis Homes. She was a member of Mountville Mennonite
Church.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Landis
Homes Retirement Community, West Bethany Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Road,
Lititz, with Chaplain Donna Mack Shenk officiating. Visitation with the
family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening and 9:30 to
11:00 AM Saturday morning, both at Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel.
Arlene will be buried at Weaverland Mennonite Church Cemetery at 2:30
PM on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial
contributions be made to: Landis Homes Caring Fund, 1001 E. Oregon
Road, Lititz, PA 17543, or to Friendship Community, 1149 E. Oregon

Martin, Arthur, 83, of St. Thomas, PA died November 11, 2010 at
Chambersburg, PA. He was born April 15, 1927 at Hagerstown, MD to
Adin and Elizabeth (Eby) Martin. On May 13, 1950 he was married
to Janet H. Lehman, who survives.
Surviving are children, Ronald Martin, Barbara Martin Miller, Robert
Martin, and Bonita Martin Shelly, 10 grandchildren, 15

sister, Elizabeth Martin.

Arthur E."Artie" Martin, 83, of Saint Thomas, PA passed on to be with his heavenly father on November 11, 2010. Born April 15, 1927 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Adin and Elizabeth (Eby) Martin, he was a member of Marion Mennonite Church. He was a farmer for 56 years; he enjoyed the outdoors and going to farm sales.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Janet H. Lehman Martin. In addition to his spouse are two brothers: Kenneth E. Martin, Waynesboro, PA and Theodore E. Martin, Denver, PA; Four Children: Ronald L. Martin and wife Ruth Ann, St. Thomas, PA; Barbara A. Martin Miller and husband, Leon, McVeytown, PA; Robert L. Martin and wife, Beverly, Chambersburg, PA; Bonita K. Martin Shelly and husband, Gerald, Chambersburg, PA. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Corey Martin, St. Thomas, PA; Carey Martin-Grove, Mercersburg, PA; Renee Miller Suydam, Lancaster, PA; Layne Miller, Columbia, PA; James Martin, St. Thomas, PA; Rebecca Martin Jacobson, Nutley N.J.; Kristen Shelly Lehman, Chambersburg, PA; Alicia Shelly Forrester, Orrstown, PA; Amber Shelly Hurley, Cambridge, MD; Jared Shelly, Chambersburg, PA; and fifteen Great-Grandchildren.

Martin, Bertha A. Esbenshade, 86, of Ephrata, PA formerly of
East Earl, PA died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Fairmount Homes. She was
born in Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., PA to Jacob and Anna (Martin)
Esbenshade. She was married to Leon G. Martin he died in 2004. Bertha
and Leon were restaurant operators at Green Dragon, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of Lichty's Mennonite Church.
Surviving are three sons: Leonard married to Rosene (Weaver) Martin,
New Holland, PA; Marlin married to Linda (Zeiset) Martin, Terre Hill,
PA and Roy
married to Nancy (Zeiset) Martin, Narvon, PA; 21 grandchildren; 43
great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; three sisters:

She was preceded in death by her husband Leon, a daughter, Nancy L.

Her funeral service was August 3, 2010 at Weaverland Mennonite Church
with Pastor Clair Long officiating. Interment was in the Weaverland

Martin, Blanche Landis, 83, of Chambersburg, PA died October 13,
2010 in the Chambersburg Hospital. She was born December 16, 1926 in
Chambersburg, PA to Menno and Anna Mary Barkdoll Landis. Blanche was
married to the Rev Ellis L. Martin who died March 25, 2004. She was a
member of the Rowe Mennonite Church.
Surviving are three sons; Vincent R. Martin and his wife Anna,
Chambersburg, PA; Eric L. Martin, Shippensburg, PA and Curtis L.
Martin, Irving TX, two daughters; Christine A. Diller and her husband
Daryl, Doylesburg, PA and Susan E. Funk and her husband Dana,
Chambersburg, PA; four brothers; Menno Landis, Chambersburg, PA; Daniel
Landis, Philadelphia, PA; Richard Landis, Lancaster, PA and Ray Landis
Edmonton, Canada, one sister, Charlotte Martin, Chambersburg, PA 19

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ellis, a son Bryan K.
Martin who died in 1984, a sister Lois Keefer and a brother Robert
Landis.
Funeral service was October 18, 2010 at the Rowe Mennonite Church, with
Bishop Allen Martin, Rev. Kenneth Wadel, Rev. Mark Gayman and Rev. John
Horst officiating. Burial was in the Rowe Mennonite Cemetery
Shippensburg, PA.

Martin, Carl Benjamin, Age 89, of Washington Twp, [Porter Co., IN] passed away Monday, November 15, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Born in rural Beemer, NE on December 16, 1920, Carl married Pauline Darling on May 14, 1944.
Carl moved his family from Nebraska to Indiana in 1959. A life-long farmer, he was also a 36-year veteran school bus driver for Washington Twp Schools and a member of the Kouts and Valpo Mennonite Churches for over 50 years. Carl enjoyed following the activities of his children of three generations; farming, attending livestock sales, international mission travel, reading and updating his personal diaries.
He is survived by: his wife Pauline "Pat" of 66 years; 5 children, Mike Martin of St. Joseph, Mary Hupp of Mayetta, KS, Bob Martin of Valparaiso, David Martin of Omaha, NE, and Christine Janzen of Lexington, SC; and preceded in death by son Thomas. Carl is also survived by one brother, Merle Martin, Beemer, NE, along with 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grand children.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 17th from 4 -8 PM at the Kosanke Funeral Home 105 E. Indiana Ave, Kouts. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday November 18th at 1:00 PM at the Hopewell Mennonite Church 805 N. Main St, Kouts with burial to follow at Hopewell Mennonite Cemetery, Kouts. Martin, Clarence S., 81, of Manheim, died on Saturday morning,
May 22, 2010 at home. Born in Ephrata on April 12, 1929, he was the son
of the late Noah Z. and Susanna W. (Sensenig) Martin.
He was a member of the Miners Village Mennonite Church. He is survived
by his wife of 58 years, M. Eleonora (Lehman) Martin. Surviving are 2
sons and 3
daughters: David L. husband of Patty (Reed) Martin, Rochester, WA,
Allen L. husband of Phoebe (Sauder) Martin, St. George, DE, Dorcas R.,
Lititz, Miriam I., Dallas, TX, Evelyn S., Lititz; 9 grandchildren, 2
great grandchildren with 1 grandchild preceding him in death. He is
also survived by 4 brothers and 4 sisters: Walter, New Holland, Anna
Mary Stauffer (Roy), Lititz, Chester, McCordsville, IN, Catherine
Longenecker (Dan), Harrisonburg, VA, Irene Neff (John), Landisville,
Noah, Johnstown, Susan Weber, Atmore, AL and Melvin,
Tracy, CA.
Preceding him in death were a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and
John Freed, a brother-in-law, Leon Weber and a brother, Isaac.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral
service at White Oak Mennonite Church, 2456 Newport Road, Manheim on
Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 9:30 AM. Interment in the adjoining church
cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the church on Wednesday
from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Martin, Clement Walter
Clement Walter Martin, age 77,
a retired turkey grower and farmer, died Thursday, November 4, 2010, at
his home in Versailles. He was born October 25, 1933, in Lancaster
County, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Abram Z. and Anna Hoover
Martin. He married Sarah W. Martin, who survives, on March 16, 1961, in
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Martin was a member of the Old Order
Mennonite Church.
Other survivors include two sons, Walter Martin, Jr. and wife Jeanette
of Versailles, Missouri and Ervin Martin and wife Lucille of Barnett,
Missouri; two daughters, Erma, wife of Adam Kilmer and Edna, wife of
Ernest Kilmer both of Versailles, Missouri. Also surviving are
twenty-two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant
daughter, Ella Mae.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, November 8, 2010,
at the Excelsior Mennonite Church. Burial will be held in the Excelsior
Mennonite Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to
4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 7, at the family

Martin, Curtis L., 29, of 115 Garrett Circle, Ephrata, died
Thursday [9-23-2010] at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Ephrata, he
was the son of Paul Eugene and Lorraine (Leid) Martin, with whom he
resided.
Curtis worked at Conestoga Wood Products and Shady Maple Farm Market
until his illness. He was a member of Petra Christian Fellowship and
enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and attending rodeos.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother Jason, at home
and a paternal grandmother, Eva Z. Martin, Womelsdorf.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 28 at 10 AM at Petra
Christian Fellowship with Pastors Eugene Zoll, Titus Kauffman, and
Kenneth Witmer officiating. Interment will follow in Metzler's
Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from
6 - 8 PM and Tuesday from 9 -10 AM. Kindly omit flowers. If desired,

Martin, David B., 70, of Morgantown, PA died Wednesday, February
24, 2010 at Reading Hospital and Medical Center. His wife, Mary Ann
(Andrew) Martin, survives. They would have observed their 14th wedding
anniversary on May 18.
Born in Millersville, he was the son of the late Isaac M. and Mary
(Weaver) Martin.
Dave was involved with numerous businesses last owning Medical Rentals
and Morgantown Medical Supply.
He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church, the
Elverson-Morgantown Lions Club from whom he received the Melvin Jones
Fellow Award; and the Morgantown Area Business Association. He had also
served on the board of the Berks County Chapter of the American Lung
Association.
An avid golfer, he and Mary Ann spent time in Barefoot Bay, FL. There
were many people who called him "Dad" and even more who called him a
friend.
In addition to his wife, he will be missed by his four children: Bonnie
Martin, Reading; Bev Martin, Morgantown; Brenda married to Greg Hadden,
Morgantown; David Martin, Cressona; two grandsons: James Matthew
Fellenbaum and Nate Hadden; and two brothers: Luke W. Martin, New
Holland and Mark W. Martin, Trenton, GA.
His memorial service will be held on Monday, March 1 at 12 Noon at the
Harmony United Methodist Church, 740 Harmony Rd., Morgantown with
Pastor Larry Frank officiating. The family will receive friends at the
church on Monday from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of
flowers, memorials in David's memory may be made to the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation, East Central PA Chapter, 225 City Ave.,

Martin, David L., age 19, of Owen, WI, died on Friday, April 23,
2010 in the Town of Worden, Clark County, WI from injuries sustained in
a fall. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April
28, 2010 at the Clark View Mennonite Church in Withee, WI. Clair Horst
will officiate with the assistance of Paul Wesley Oberholtzer, Ervin
Showalter, Willard Brubacker and Virgil Martin. Burial will be in the

David Lee Martin was born on April 22, 1991 in Lititz, PA, the son of
Earl M. and Etta W. (Martin) Martin. He was raised in Pennsylvania
until the age of 6, at which time his family moved to Owen, WI. David
worked for his father's business, Oak Tree Express, hauling milk.
David loved being with his family, playing with little children and
enjoyed sunsets.
He will be dearly missed by his parents, Earl and Etta Martin of Owen,
WI; his siblings: Ryan (Brenda) Martin of Owen, WI, Randall (Jane
Marie) Martin of Withee, WI, Dennis (Rose) Martin of Withee, WI,
Jennifer (Eugene) Burkholder of Colby, WI, Elizabeth, Matthew, Rachel,
Jesse, Stephen, Keith, Merle, Harlan and Annetta Martin, all of Owen,
WI; two nieces: Bethany and Mary Ann Martin; two nephews: Leon Earl and
Kenneth Martin; his special friend, Jessica Brubaker of Withee, WI; his

September 11, 2010.
She was born in Paradise Twp., a daughter of the late Aaron G. and
Maggie (Sauder) Martin.
Naomi was a lifelong member of Ephrata Mennonite Church, a Sunday
School and Bible School teacher for many years, and also taught
Vacation Bible School in Northern Pennsylvania and New York. She
enjoyed quilting, and spending winters in Florida, where she made many
friends. She also enjoyed history in general and had a wealth of
knowledge in family history. She wrote two booklets on the history of
the Martin and Sauder families.
In her home, she was a personal caregiver to the elderly and also
provided lodging for younger people.
Surviving are a brother, J. Elvin, husband of Laverne (Sensenig) Martin
of Akron; and 4 sisters, Arlene S. Hurst of Ephrata, Mae Mentzer of
Lancaster, Margaret Martin of Ephrata, and Lois J., wife of Leon R.
Zimmerman of Lititz; nieces and nephews, Donald Hurst, Ray Martin, Dawn
Martin, Bryan Martin, Elise Coletto, Ranee Zimmerman, and Rochelle
Kniss.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 PM, Sunday, September 19, and 9 to
10 AM, Monday, at the Ephrata Mennonite Church, 510 Stevens Rd.,
Ephrata. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday with Pastor

Martin, Elizabeth Eshleman, 96 of Menno Haven Chambersburg died
January 29, 2010 in Menno Haven. She was born July 13, 1913 in Marion,
Pa., to J. Ira and Nora (Cordell) Eshleman. She and her husband, the
Rev. Norman H. Martin were married July 13, 1933. He died on March 16,
1985.
She was an active member of the Salem Ridge Mennonite Church of
Greencastle, PA where she attended sewing circle and taught Sunday
School. Before moving to the Village Square at Menno Haven in 2000, she
lived in Marion for 66 years Elizabeth was a business woman and
together with her late husband owned and operated the E.L.M. Department
Store in Greencastle, PA.
Survived by two sons Lester E. (Wife Ruth) Martin, Greencastle, PA; N.
Harold (Wife Charlotte), Greencastle, PA; two daughters Frances H.
Diller, Chambersburg, PA; Lorraine E. (Husband Donald) Eby,
Chambersburg, PA; 18 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 14
great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a son-in-law John H. Diller, sister Louise (Mrs.
David) Lehman, two brothers Charles Eshleman and John Eshleman. Funeral
services was February 3, 2010 at the Marion Mennonite Church 4365 Molly
Pitcher Hwy. Chambersburg with Revs. Robert Keener, Merle Cordell and

died September 18, 2010. He was born in New York, to Jonathan and
Catherine Roggie Martin. He was the husband of Ruby Gingerich Martin.
They celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on August 22nd. Elton
was a member of Metzler Mennonite Church, West Earl Twp., Lancaster
Co., PA.
Survivied by his wife Ruby and son, Roger M. Martin of Lowville, NY,

Martin, Elva Elizabeth Hostetter Peifer, age 86, died Thursday
morning August 19, 2010 after a brief illness. Her husband of 31 years
Wilbur S. Peifer, preceded her in death in 1975. She was also preceded
in death by her second husband, John H. Martin, who passed away in
2004.
Elva was the daughter of the late H. Jay & Margie Hershey
Hostetter. She was born in Limeville and during her lifetime lived in
Manheim, Witmer, Quarryville, Leola, New Holland and died at her last
residence, Landis Homes, Lititz, Pennsylvania. She was a faithful
member of Mellinger Mennonite Church where she participated in sewing
circle. She also enjoyed relationships with Black Rock Retreat
Association, Witmer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and Farm Women
Society #22. She enjoyed working many years at Bird in Hand Motor Inn
and Quarryville Presbyterian Home and made many friends as she
volunteered at Garden Spot Village, New Holland. Crocheting for great
grandbabies, arranging flowers, sitting for family pets and keeping in
touch with her extended family by email gave her enjoyment and
satisfaction.
In addition to leaving her special friend Clarence Neff, Lititz, she is
survived by three children: Marilyn wife of Larry Nolt of Souderton,
Dale husband of Joyce Esbenshade Peifer of Atglen and Daryl husband of
Jane Hoober Peifer of Lancaster, nine grandchildren, ten great
grandchildren, five stepsons, 12 step
grandchildren and 26 step great grandchildren, 3 siblings: Vera wife of
Kenneth Mast, Rosa wife of Frank Weidman and Wilmer husband of Joyce
Landis Hostetter.
She was preceded in death by 3 siblings: Donald and Harry Hostetter and
Anna Kreider. There will be a viewing at Mellinger Mennonite Church,
1916 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA, on Sunday evening August 22nd
from 5 to 8 p.m. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service
at the Mellinger Mennonite Church, on Monday, August 23rd at 10:30 a.m.

Esther was co-founder with her husband of the Stone Barn Furniture
Store in Lebanon. She was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church of
the Weaverland Conference.
She is survived by children, Carl A. Martin and wife Rachel of Lebanon;
Leonard H. Martin and wife Violet of Myerstown; Marlin E. Martin and
wife Marlene of Lebanon; Ruth N. Good and husband Leonard Good of Iowa;

GOSHEN -- Eugene M. Martin,
74, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at the home of his daughter-in-law. He
had been ill the last three months.
On Jan. 26, 1936, he was born to Willis and Nellie (Culp) Martin in
Goshen. He married Rosetta Riegsecker on May 11, 1957, in Middlebury.
She survives.
He is also survived by daughters Rosalyn (Lavern) Cross of Middlebury
and Rhonda (Smith) Noel of Terry Hill, Pa.; son Jeff (Bonnie) Martin of
Hicksville, Ohio; daughter-in-law Teresa Martin-Gay; 15 grandchildren;
one great-grandchild; brother Truman (Lois) Martin of Nappanee; sisters
Vivian Benner and Matie (David) Lehman both of Harrisonburg, Va.
He was preceded by his parents and son Randy Martin.
Eugene was a member of Griner Mennonite Church and Gideons. He enjoyed
mission trips, volunteering at World Missionary Press and Gospel Echoes
Prison Ministry.

Mennonite Church, Middlebury, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the

25, 2010 in his son's residence in Memphis, MO. He was the husband of

late Ezra S. and Anna Zimmerman Martin.
After retiring as a farmer, Ezra was employed by the Manheim Auto

Martin, George Brubaker, 67, of Maytown, PA died March 13, 2010
at his home. Born in Penn Twp., Lancaster Co., PA to William K. and
Sara E. (Brubaker) Martin. He was the husband of Ava Lee (Longenecker)
Martin. They were married for 41 years.
George was a member of Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, where he served
as a Sunday school teacher for Jr. High Boys. He also attended New Name
Christian Fellowship. In his youth, he served in Honduras under
Mennonite Voluntary Service.
Survived by his wife, Ava Lee, he is four children: Juanita, wife of
Chris Horst, Elizabethtown, PA; Sonja Martin, Elizabethtown,PA;
Melinda, wife of Brent Eisenberger, Lancaster, PA and Jeffrey, husband
of Tara Bomberger Martin, Marietta, PA; Two grandchildren: Colin and

Martin, Gladys Koch, 94, of Elmira, Ontario, Canada died June
20, 2010 at the same place. She was born August 9, 1915 at Three
Bridges, Ontario, Canada to Charles and Minerva (Swartz) Koch. On
June 1, 1938 she was married to Norman Martin, who was born January 11,
1914 and died September 24, 2001.
Surviving are children, Winston and Betty Ann Martin, Raymond and
Elinor Martin, Isabel and Jim Bauman, Bernice Brubacher, Elaine and
Clair Stolzfus, and Edith and Mark Edmiston, 18 grandchildren, and 20
great-grandchildren.
Seven brothers, Stanley Koch, Lester Koch, Orton Koch, Phares Koch,
Oliver Koch, Roy Koch, and Charles Koch, and two sisters, Mabel Kufske,
and Vera Snyder preceded her in death.

Martin, Harold C., 84 of Lititz, PA died February 19, 2010 at
Landis Homes, (formerly he lived in Lancaster and Leola, PA). He was
born on February 23, 1925 in Leola, PA to Carpenter Weaver Martin and
Anna (Stauffer) Martin. He was married to Evelyn (Kreider) Martin. They
were married for 62 years.
He was a member of Stumptown Mennonite Church, Bird in Hand, PA.
Survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He had one son, Clifford W. Martin, husband of Susan S. Martin of
Lancaster, PA; and three daughters, Carol A. Zimmerman, wife of Mahlon
G. Zimmerman of Leola, PA; Jean M. Buchen, wife of K. Thomas
Buchen and Sharon M. Lefever, wife of David H. Lefever, both of
Lancaster, PA. He had eleven grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl F. Martin who had lived
in New Holland. Funeral service was February 22, 2010 at Stumptown
Mennonite Church, Bird in Hand, PA.

Martin, Harvey Allen, 94, a resident of 4076 Dry River Road,
Bridgewater, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010. Mr. Martin was born on June
19, 1916, in Ohio and was the son of the late Daniel J. and Martha
Martin.
He was a farmer and member of the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite
Church. On Feb. 15, 1939, he married the former Ruth Virginia Rohrer,
who preceded him in death Sept. 2, 1997.
Surviving are six children, Barbara Shank and husband Robert, Charles
Martin and wife, Rosa, all of Bridgewater; Alice Knicely and husband,
Frank, Robert Martin and wife, Carol, Reba Showalter and husband, Dale,
Mildred Rhodes and husband, Cleo, all of Dayton; a sister, Naomi Rhodes
and husband, Marvin, of Kentucky; 24 grandchildren and 32
great-grandchildren.
Harvey Martin was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, a
grandson, Scott Showalter and wife, Phyllis, and two
great-granddaughters, Shayla and Christina Showalter.
The ministers of the church will conduct a funeral service on Friday
afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Martin, Hilda Byler Sudermann, 98, of Goshen, IN died March 30,
2010 at the same place. She was born January 14, 1912 at Hesston,
Harvey Co., KS to Thomas L. and Nancy R. (Schrock) Byler. On
August 27, 1933 in Finney Co., KS she was married to Jacob Sudermann.
Jacob Sudermann died in April 1980. Hilda married Ellis Martin,
July 17, 1982. He died April 6, 1992.
Surviving are children, Annemarie Sudermann; Paul K. (Beth) Sudermann;
and David P. (Mary Cisar) Sudermann, 3 grandchildren, and siblings,
Nadine E. (Jon Michael) Yoder; Rachel Powell; and Robert Byler.
A son, John J. Sudermann and four brothers, Vernon T. Byler, Roland R.
Byler, Glen R. Byler, and Gerald Byler preceded her in death.
Hilda attended Goshen College Academy from 1927-1929 and also studied
at Garden City Junior College and Bethany College in Lindsborg,
Kansas. She taught school in Pawnee Valley, Kansas, before moving
to the Goshen area in the 1940s. She was a piano teacher to more
than 400 college students and children in the Goshen and Elkhart
area. Hilda devoted her creative energies to her family, her
piano students, and her friends, drawing, painting, baking, sewing,
nurturing plants, and the two churches she served.
Memorial services were held April 3, 2010 at College Mennonite Church,
Goshen, IN with burial in Violett Cemetery, Goshen, IN.

PORT TREVORTON - Ira S. Martin,
85, of Port Trevorton, passed away on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at the
home of his daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Calvin Martin. He was
born April 10, 1925, in Lancaster County, a son of the late Harry W.
and Katie B. (Stauffer) Martin. On Nov. 29, 1945, he married the former
Martha G. Stauffer, who survives. His passing breaks a marital union of
64 years.
Mr. Martin was engaged in farming and was also employed with John
Hummel, Groce's Silk Mill, and A Patch Orchards. He was a member of
Stauffer's Mennonite Church Riverview District, Liverpool.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 11 children and their
spouses, Catherine Martin, John and Janice Martin, Margaret and Calvin
Martin, Marie Weaver, Mildred and Elam Weaver, Harvey and Susan Martin,
Marian and David Martin, all of Port Trevorton, James and Sally Martin,
of Tennessee, Robert and Nancy Martin, of McAlisterville, Thomas and
Linda Martin, of Selinsgrove, and Dorothy and Harvey Haldeman, of
Missouri; 65 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman
Martin husband of Annie, of Selinsgrove; one sister-in-law, Barbara
Martin, of Selinsgrove; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by one daughter, Annetta Martin in infancy; one
son-in-law, Allen Weaver; four grandsons; six brothers; and two
sisters.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 2 to 4 p.m. and from
6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from noon to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, at his daughter
and son-in-law, Marian and David Martin residence, 62 McKees Road, Port

Martin, John Jacob, 88, of Kidron, OH died April 15, 2010 at the
same place from acute leukemia.
He was born December 23, 1921 at Columbiana, OH to John Jacob and Merta
(Ziegler) Martin. John was born May 4, 1890 and died February 16,
1981. Merta was born June 26, 1894 and died December 29, 1992.
On August 3, 1947 at Aurora, OH he was married to Flora Jean Hostetler,
who was born September 29, 1925 and survives.
Surviving are children, Ron (Geneva) Martin; Wendell (Daisy) Martin;
Sharon (Lawrence) Ressler; and Janis (Craig) Steigauf, 11
grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two sisters, Ruth Martin, and
Mabel Nisley.
A brother, Glen Martin preceded him in death.
Goshen College Alumnus; Participated in CPS in Sidling Hill, Dennison,
IA, Poughkeepsie, NY, and Puerto Rico. Taught high school art,
industrial arts, drafting and Driver Education at Central Christian
High School, Kidron, OH for 17 years. Graded Bible correspondence
courses for Gospel Echoes Prison Ministry for 25 years.
Memorial services were held April 19, 2010 at Sonnenberg Mennonite

Martin, Lois Mae, age 59 a resident of Keystone Human Services
of Landisville passed away at her residence on Wednesday, January 6,
2010. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Norman R. &
Martha Lefever Martin. In the past she was a member of the Strasburg
Mennonite Church.
Lois loved animals, magazines, games, dancing and swimming. Lois had
Down's Syndrome and the family would like to thank Keystone Human
Services for the love and care that they extended to her.
Surviving is a sister- in-law Bonnie L. Dorsey Martin of Paradise,
niece Tracy L. Dormer of Paradise, nephew Jere S. Martin of Manheim, 2
great nephews, 1 great great nephew and niece. She is also survived by
her best friend, Victoria Coldren. She was preceded in death by a

She was an active member of Midway Mennonite Church serving as a Sunday
School Teacher and a member of the sewing circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ira and

Martin, Melvin F., 75, of Lititz, went home to be with the Lord
on Friday, December 17, 2010. He was born in Ephrata Twp., a son of the
late Christian and Lizzie Felpel Martin. Melvin is the husband of
Miriam F. Good Martin. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary
on May 4th of this year. Mr. Martin was a member of the White Oak
Mennonite Church, Manheim. He and his wife had owned and operated the
Convertech Bag Company for many years until retirement.
Surviving are 4 sons, Melvin Lee (Joanne Burkholder) Martin of
Martinsburg, Mark (Pauletta Miller) Martin of Rochester, WA, Matthew
(Beverly Nolt) Martin of Rehrersburg, and Michael (Luela Patzan) Martin

October 3, 2010. She was born on March 2, 1920 to Byard E. and Ethel
Heatwole Lahman. On October 8, 1940, she married Merle Eugene Martin
who preceded her in death October 28, 2001.
She was a member of Bank Mennonite Church. She loved children and
taught children's classes at Gospel Hill Mennonite Church, Weavers
Mennonite Church.
Survived by three daughters: Eleanor Isner and husband Ken of
Harrisonburg, VA; Charlene Duncan and husband James, Asheville, NC;
Dorothy Swartzendruber and husband Dennis, Pigeon, MI; six
grandchildren, Kendra Isner, Cheryl (Brendan) Hynes, Melinda
Swartzendruber, Kari (Matt) Keefer, Greg (Carin) Duncan, Tama (Tim)

age related illness.
He was born February 4, 1921 at Elmira, Ontario to Amos B. and Elvina
(Bauman) Martin.
On December 17, 1952 he was married to Minerva Hoffman (Bauman,
Scheifele), who was born March 9, 1917 and died November 20, 1998.
Surviving are step-children: Gordon (Gunhild) Scheifele, Willard
(Connie) Scheifele, Nelson (Joy) Scheifele, and Pearl (Bruce) Jutzi, 11
grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild

Fellowship Manor.
Born in Terre Hill, PA, May 16, 1932, he was the son of the late Noah
and Tillie (Gehman) Martin.
Prior to retiring, Paul was a self-employed barn painting contractor,
owning and operating, Paul G. Martin Painting, Plainfield Twp.
He was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Nazareth and was a
founding member of Bender's Mennonite Church, Plainfield Twp.
He was the husband of Kathy G. Martin of South Whitehall Twp. and was
preceded in death by his first wife, R. Elthea (Landis) Martin, who
died December 8, 1992.
In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by four children, Paula
R. Parsons and her husband Kyle of Somersworth, NH, James R. Martin and
his wife Lori of Topton, Jeffrey L. Martin and his wife April of
Plainfield Twp., and Edna I. Reuss and her husband Robert of Tatamy;
eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; four brothers, Lester,
Erwin, Marvin and Alvin Martin; and a sister, Kathryan Horning, all in
the Lancaster area.
In addition to his first wife Elthea, two brothers, Chester and Leon
Martin, all died earlier.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 6, 2010, at 11:00 AM at
Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 100 East Beil Ave., Nazareth, PA. There
will be viewing hours, Thursday from 5 to 7 PM and Friday one hour
prior to services, all at the church. Interment will be in Bender's
Mennonite Church Cemetery, Plainfield Township. The Guerro &
Ruggiero Funeral Home, Pen Argyl is in charge of arrangements.

daughter of the late Levi H. and Anna W. Burkholder. Mrs. Martin was a
volunteer for Jubilee Ministries, Friendship Circle Committee, and New
Song Ladies Ministries. She was a member of Womelsdorf Mennonite Church
and taught Sunday school.
She is survived by her husband, E. Cleason Martin; sons and their
wives, Roger and Treena, Anthony and Michelle, and Trulan and Darlene;
and 14 grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Mildred, wife of

Martin, Ronald K., 44, formerly of Fredericksburg, PA died July
1, 2010 in Honduras, a missionary. He died unexpectedly as a
result of a vehicle accident.
He was born on March 22, 1966, to Kenneth and Rhoda (Kauffman) Martin
of Myerstown, PA. He was the husband of Maryann (Freed) Martin. They
were married on November 26, 1988. He was a member of the Elm Street
Mennonite Church, Lebanon, PA and was ordained to the ministry in 1996
for the Elm Street congregation. In 2008, he was commissioned to the
mission in Honduras. While in PA, he taught school at the Myerstown
Mennonite School and the Cedar Run Mennonite School.
Survived by his wife and parents, his four sons, James, Kevin, Norman
and Myron, and two daughters, Karla and Rhonda, all at home; brothers,
Lamar married to Sharon (Hofer) Martin and Vernon married to Angie
(Gingrich) Martin, both of Lebanon, PA; sisters, Marilyn married to
Merle Ebersol of Bethel, PA and Loretta married to Dan Martin of Burns
Lake, British Columbia; Grandparents, Ivan Sr. and Esther Martin of
Myerstown, PA.

died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in her residence. She was the wife of
Lloyd M. Martin. Ruth was born in Lancaster, PA on September 1, 1945

He was born May 31, 1938, in Elkhart County. He married Erma Martin on
Nov. 20, 1958, in Goshen. She survives.
Surviving along with his wife are sons Larry and William, both of
Sheridan, Mich., Glenn and Raymond, both of Goshen, and Arthur of

Martin, Wayne Daniel, 96 died November 28, 2010 at the Souderton
Mennonite Home. He was born in Smithville, Wayne Co., OH on April 4,
1914. When he was five years old, his father died and his Mother and
Sister moved to Eastern Pennsylvania to be with family. All through his
adult years, he directed Choruses and sang tenor in Choral groups. The
last chorus that he directed was the SAC in Telford, PA which was in
the 1980's. Over the years, he sang with the Zion Choral Society.
Wayne is survived by his children: Beryl Martin, Georgetown, Delaware;
MaryAnn Kinney, Telford, Pa; Floyd Martin, New Brunswick, Canada; and
Carolyn Cardin, Elkton, Virginia.
Funeral services was December 4, 2010 at the Souderton Mennonite Home

to Glenn I. Martin of Reid, Md. He preceded her in death in March 1995.
On Aug 7, 1999 she 2nd married Roy D. Denlinger of Chambersburg,
PA. He preceded her in death in Oct. 2003.
Martha was a member of Mercersburg Mennonite Church. Mercersburg, PA.

Bladensburg, MD; Titus and his wife Linda (Lehman) of Fayetteville, PA;

was born September 24, 1921 to Daniel and Sarah (Schlabach) Kline of
Berlin. On February 27, 1947 she was married to Roy A. Mast, who
survives. Anna was a member of Bethel Fellowship Church of Berlin [A
Beachy Amish Mennonite Church].
Survived by her husband Roy and two sons: Allan (Mary) Mast and
Jerry (Mary Ellen) Mast. both of Berlin, OH; one daughter, Barbara
(Ernest) Buller of Berlin, OH; one brother, Edward Kline and one

She married Jacob M. Mast Dec. 21, 1939 in Topeka, Ind. He died in 2005.
She is survived by two daughters, Viola (Daryl) Slabaugh, Iowa City,
and Fannie (Ronnie) Miller, Kalona.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fairview
Mennonite Church in rural Kalona.

58, of LaGrange, died unexpectedly Saturday (Jan. 23, 2010) in her home.
She was born Jan. 17, 1952, in Shipshewana to Harley and Wilma
(Bontrager) Miller. She married Henry S. Mast on May 30, 1974, in
LaGrange County.
He and her father survive along with four daughters, Loretta (Samuel)
Schrock of Topeka, Sara Sue (Elmer) Beechy, Arlene (Orva) Eash and
Leona Mae Mast, all of LaGrange; five sons, Ernest (Leona) Mast of
Shipshewana, Norman (Nettie) Mast of Wolcottville, Dennis (Dora) Mast,
Leland (Norma) Mast and Calvin (Fannie) Mast, all of LaGrange; one
sister, Esther Miller of Shipshewana; three brothers, Nelson (Ruth)

1968 he married Nila Miller and she survives. He was a member of
Martin's Creek Mennonite Church.
Survived by his wife Nila and two children and their spouses, Stacey

Millersburg, Holmes Co., OH died December 8, 2010 at the same place
after a sudden illness. He was born March 18, 1943 in Holmes
County, Ohio to Gerald O. and Frances Mast. On August 10, 1968 he was
married to Nila Miller, who was born May 21, 1940 and survives.
Surviving are his wife, his mother, a daughter, Stacey and J.J. Egli,
Topeka, Indiana; a son, Christopher and Brandi Mast, Birmingham,

December 20, 1945, he married Ida Mae Slabach, she died July 24, 2001.
On September 28, 2002 he married Wilma (Miller) Hostetler, she

She was born July 23, 1945 at Pine Bluff, Jefferson Co., Ark. to Obie Clifton and Freddie Mae (McCool) Blasengame. Obie was born February 19, 1894 and died September 12, 1954. Freddie Mae was born June 24, 1920 and died December 30, 2009.
In 1965 at Pine Bluff she was married to Ray Donald Mayers.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Freeman and Amy (Bill) Evans, four grandchildren, two brothers, James "Jimmy" (Jo) Blasengame, and Marshall Blasengame, and a sister, Wanda (Paul) Jones.
She was a registered nurse for 32 years. Member of Lions Club. Member of Town and Country Quilters.

Meck, Blanche Snavely, 98, formerly of Strasburg Twp, died April
22, 2010 at Landis Homes Lititz, PA. She was born in Strasburg Twp,
Lancaster Co., PA to Amos and Lizzie (Herr) Snavely. She
was the wife of the late Paul S. Meck, who died in April 2002.
She was a lifetime member of Strasburg Mennonite Church. Blanche
volunteered with Mennonite Central Committee and at Landis Homes.
Survived by four sons: P. Melvin married to Betty (Neff) Meck of
Lititz, PA; Raymond S. married to Jean (Keller) Meck of Leola, PA;
Kenneth S. married to Esther (Zimmerman) Meck of Willow Street,PA and

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Crystal Meck Evans, two
brothers and three sisters. A Mermorial Service was April 25, 2010 at
the West Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes with Pastor John Meck and
Chaplain Don Good officiating. Interment was private in Strasburg
Mennonite Cemetery, Strasburg, PA.

November 22, 2010 at the same place. He was born February 13,
1933 at Heidelberg, ON to George and Nancy Metzger. On June 5,
1954 at St. Jacobs, ON he was married to Doris Bast, who was born June
5, 1934 and survives.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Hazel Elizabeth
Bennett Baer Metzler died Dec. 17, 2010 in her 95th year at
Menno Haven Retirement Community in Chambersburg, Pa., where she had
been a resident for 5 1/2 years.
She was born Aug. 29, 1916 in Cumberland, Md., the second child of
Frank and Theoda Mae Collins Bennett.
She was married to Amos Charles Baer on April 10, 1939 in Cumberland,
where they lived for several years before moving to
Maugansville/Hagerstown, Md.
Hazel and Amos were parents of five children, all of whom survive:
Bonnie (and Gordon) Zook, Harrisonburg, Va., Bill (and Nancy) Baer,
Waynesboro Pa., Linda (and Gary) Nelson, Leesburg, Va., Larry Baer,
Edgewater, Md., and Franklin (and Retha) Baer, Harrisonburg. Amos died
in a vehicle accident near Hagerstown on June 24, 1976.
Hazel married Isaac John Metzler on May 6, 1978, and they lived in
Plant City, Fla., Cumberland and Harrisonburg, where Ike died on Sept.
23, 2001. Hazel moved to Chambersburg in 2005.
Two stepsons survive, John (and Mary Ann Metzler, MonteVallo, Ala. and
Dennis (and Kathy) Metzler, Winter Haven, Fla.
Hazel was preceded in death by a great-grandson, and two brothers and
two sisters, Ernest Bennett, Elkhart, Ind., Theresa Miller, Goshen,
Ind., Lorraine Metzler, Plant City and Frank Bennett Jr., Cumberland.
She is survived by 13 grandchildren, Betsey Zook, Matthew Zook, Laurie
Bender, Mindy Warren, Chris Baer, Jannon Baer, Stephanie Nelson, Steven
Nelson, Joshua Baer, Jennifer Webb, Julia Baer, Christina Sinquefield,
Stacey Metzler; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Hazel attended two years of Junior College at Eastern Mennonite College
from 1934-36. She was a member of Pinto Mennonite Church, Cumberland
and North Side Mennonite Church, Hagerstown. She was a children's
Sunday school teacher for many years.
A creative homemaker and hostess, Hazel took great satisfaction in the
restoration of Paradise Manor, Amos' ancestral home near Hagerstown.
With her son, Franklin, she published a lifetime collection of poetry,
memories and essays in 2009, entitled, "Creative Reflections of a Young
Woman." She was cherished by many as a wise and caring friend.
The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson
Blvd., Hagerstown Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
There will be a private burial Wednesday morning at Stoufferstown
Cemetery in Chambersburg.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. in the
chapel at Menno Haven Retirement Village, 2075 Scotland Ave.,
Chambersburg. The Rev. Gordon Zook will officiate.

She was a life member of Deep Run Mennonite Church East of Perkasie, PA
where she sang in the church choir and in a women's octet. In addition,
Anna sang with the Life with God Chorus for a number of years.

She was born January 27, 1922 at Doylestown, Bucks Co., PA to Charles
Matthew and Susie (Hunsberger) Godshalk. Charles was born October
23, 1889 and died April 22, 1986. Susie was born February 4, 1892
and died May 30, 1978.
On October 24, 1944 she was married to Clarence Meyers, who was born
October 2, 1922 and survives.
Surviving are children, Richard (married to Linda Dee), Edward (married
to Linda Kae), and Thomas, 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild,
and two sisters, Sarah Chittick and Blanche Althouse (spouse-Vernon).
A sister, Esther Mae Godshalk preceded her in death.

GOSHEN -- Abram J. "A.J." Miller
passed away after an extended illness on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at
11:52 p.m. at his Goshen home with his family at his side. He was 72.
He was born Feb. 17, 1938, in LaGrange, to Lee J. and Ruth (Troyer)
Miller. On Dec. 12, 1996, he married Jacqueline M. "Jackie" Olmstead
King in Elkhart. She survives at home.
Also surviving are son Terry L. (Shelly R.) Miller of Goshen; three
brothers, David L. (Barbara) Miller of Hendersonville, Tenn., Silas J.
(Grace) Miller of Portland, Ore., and John L. (Maxine) Miller of
McPherson, Kan.; three sisters, Mary C. Burhenn of Lagrange, Martha E.
(Loren) Hartman of Camby, Ore., and Esther L. (Ervin) Miller of
Portland, Ore.; and five grandchildren. Additionally, A.J. has three
stepsons, one stepdaughter, 15 stepgrandchildren and five
stepgreat-grandchildren, all of whom live in the Michiana area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorcas Eash, brother
Jim Miller and son Rick A. Miller.
A.J. founded A.J. Floor Covering of Elkhart in the late 1960s and
continued to remain active in the business for moore than 40 years
until just weeks before his passing. He was also a member of New Life
Christian Center in Bristol, where he sat on the Elders' Board. He
cherished the time he spent working with people on behalf of the church
and was looked upon as a spiritual counselor. He was an avid golfer,
fisherman and fan of the Chicago White Sox and, of course, Da Bears.
Friends and family may gather for a celebration of A.J.'s life on
Wednesday, (June 30, 2010) from 2 to 8 p.m. at New Life Christian
Center, 15685 S.R. 120, Bristol, IN 46507. Funeral services will be
Thursday (July 1, 2010) at 11 a.m. at the Christian Center with
visitation one hour prior. Pastor Dwight Gosser of New Life Christian
Center, a close, personal friend of A.J.'s, will officiate. Burial will
follow services at Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, has been assisting the
family with arrangements.
At the request of A.J.'s family, memorials may be given to his wife

Miller, Abram L. "Abie" 72, of Manheim, PA died May 18, 2010.
Born in Lancaster, PA to Abram and Emma E. Landis Miller. He was the
husband of Elsie Shearer Miller who died in 2003; and his first wife
Esther Peters Miller who died in 1997.
He was a member of the Manheim Mennonite Church. Abie volunteered many
hours for Brethren Village, Lancaster, for the Mennonite Central
Committee. He had a passion for traveling, and throughout his life he
traveled to all fifty states of the nation, and most of the provinces
of Canada.
Surviving is a daughter, Joyce E. wife of Kirk D. Shenberger of Spring
Hill Acres, Lebanon Co., PA, two brothers: Landis L. husband of Vera
Miller of Manheim, PA; James L. husband of Grace Miller of New Oxford,
PA and a sister, Lois wife of Menno Rissler of Latham, MO.
Preceding him in death his two wives Esther and Elsie, a son, Glenn E.

unexpectedly, July 9, 2010 at the same place. He was born
November 6, 1913 at Landisville to Martin R. and Ella (Herr)
Miller. On June 25, 1938 he was married to Ethel Burkhart, who
was born November 11, 1914 and died July 16, 2007. They were married
for 69 years.
Surviving are children, Edwin B, married to Mary Landis Miller; Barbara
Ann, married to Luke F. Brubaker; Dr. Richard B., married to Fannie
Bomberger Miller; J. Martin, married to Ferne Longenecker Miller; and
Donald B., married to Marilyn Lehman Miller, 17 grandchildren, and 35
great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Marian Jean, wife of the late Raymond Lefever preceded him
in death.
Miller founded Miller's Greenhouses, Inc. in Landisville in 1939 and
continued to operate the business until 1982 when his sons became
partners. He became an ordained minister in 1965 and served Landisville
Mennonite until 1985. He was also a charter member and co-founder of
Camp Hebron in Halifax, Pa.

(Yoder) Miller. He is survived by his wife, Viola Mae Miller; sons

Sarasota, Fla. He was born April 1, 1919, in LaGrange, to
Clemence J. and Anna (Miller) Miller. On Dec. 9, 1943, he married Clara
Shrock in Hicksville, Ohio. He was a member of Griner Mennonite Church,
Middlebury, IN.
Surviving are his wife Clara and daughter Amanda (Arlo) Casselman of
Topeka, IN; sons Henry (Martha) Miller, Glenn (Wilma) Miller and Eugene
(Tena) Miller, all of Constantine, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 17
great-grandchildren; sister Edna Sampson of Columbia City, IN; and
brother John (Lovina) C. Miller of Sturgis, Mich.
He was preceded in death by brothers Menno, Levi, Amos and Ervin Miller
and sisters Mattie Miller and Amanda Bontrager.
A service was March 27, 2010 at Griner Mennonite Church. The Rev. John
Yoder officiated. Burial was in Griner Cemetery,
Middlebury, IN.

Eugene R. Miller, 71, of,
Charleston passed away at 5:42 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Sarah
Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.
Funeral services were held yesterday morning (Tuesday) at Central
Christian Church in Charleston with Rev. Jack Howard officiating.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday evening at
the church. Edwards Funeral Home, Arcola, assisted the family with
arrangements.
Mr. Miller was born July 19, 1938, in Arthur. He was a son of Roman B.
and Katie (Otto) Miller. He married Joyce Washburn January 6, 1957, in
Mattoon. She passed away December 28, 2006. He later married Reenie
Stokes on July 18, 2008, in Charleston. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Brad E. Miller and wife Kim of Toledo; two
daughters, Karla J. Waltman and husband Brad of Collierville,
Tennessee, and Sandra K. Wheeler and husband Dick of Westfield; two
stepchildren, Matthew and wife Crystal Peters of Mattoon and Dr. Amy
Flynn and husband Dr. Sean Flynn of Effingham; seven grandchildren,
Cami Carver, Aaron, Austin and Chris Miller, Melanie Waltman, Mike
Young and wife Natalie and Becky Clement and husband Doug; four
great-grandchildren, Madison and Tori Young and Jacob and Nolan
Clement; seven step-grandchildren, Zoie Peters, Chelsey Poorman,
Cameron Valdez, Cassy Ramey and Bayleigh, Donavon, and Cassidy Flynn,
one brother, Wilmer Miller and wife Anna; and six sisters, Delsie
Briskey, Fran Gingerich, Mattie Ulrich and husband Earl, Irene Yoars,
Katie Elfrink, and Wanda Huckaby and husband Chuck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Joyce; one brother,
Willard two sisters, Wilma and Elnora; and one step-grandson, Connor
Flynn.
Mr. Miller was a hearing technician and driver for the Lions of
Illinois Foundation. He also served as one of Santa's special helpers.
He was retired from Prudential Insurance Company. While insurance was
his business; service was his way of life.
Mr. Miller was a charter member of various organizations, including
Central Christian Church where he served as Sunday school
superintendent, Sunday school teacher, elder, chairman of the elders,
and was on the mission committee.
He was also a charter member of Charleston Lions Club and held many
positions for the Lions including District Governor and Foundation
Trustee. He was the recipient of the Foundation Fellow award.
Mr. Miller was a charter member of Charleston Booster Club. He coached
for the Charleston Little League, and the Babe Ruth League.
He was a referee for basketball games and enjoyed being a part of the
Charleston Holiday Tournament. He was also a lifelong Cardinal fan.
He enjoyed making his award-winning cinnamon rolls for the Charleston
Lions Club food stand during the Coles County Fair.
Mr. Miller's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of
his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials were made to the Lion of Illinois
Foundation.

He was born March 14, 1932, in Goshen to Robert W. and Lizzie
(Hershberger) Miller. He married Phyllis A. Chupp on Dec. 24, 1955.
Surviving are daughters Cynthia "Cyndi" Miller and Sharon Brown, both
of Bristol; foster daughters Rachel Davis of Bristol and Patricia
Hostetler of Elkhart; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, foster
grandchildren and foster great-grandchildren; sisters Katie Bontrager
of Middlebury, Edna and Lydia Ann Miller, both of Goshen, and Wilma
Yoder of Missouri; brothers William Miller of Middlebury, Levi and Amos
Miller, both of Goshen, and John Miller of Shipshewana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Ida Miller; two
brothers; and two brothers-in-law.

GOSHEN -- Gertie L. Miller,
90, Goshen, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 1, 2010, at her home. She had
been in failing health, especially the last 10 days.
She was born July 19, 1920, in Goshen to Levi J. and Mary (Schrock)
Miller. She married Ammon A. Miller on Dec. 21, 1939, in Elkhart
County. He died Nov. 29, 1997.
She is survived by children Mary Etta (Norman) Lee of Goshen, Edith
(Eddy) Gault of Reform, Ala., Esther Stauffer (Aaron) Lapp of Kinzers,
Pa., Susan Stauffer of Sturgis, Mich., Treva (Steve) Classen of Walnut
Hill, Fla., A. Ray (Vonda) Miller of Cannon City, Colo., and Bernice
(Aaron) Stoltzfus of Goshen; 40 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren;
two great-great-granddaughters; and many stepgrandchildren and
stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter Leanna Mullet; sisters Ida,
Fannie and Mary Ann Miller; brothers Anon L., Solomon, Willis, Elroy,
David and Levi Leslie Miller; and sons-in-law Vernon Mullet, Roy
Thomas, Roger Stauffer and Charles Stauffer.
A homemaker, Mrs. Miller was a member of Pleasant Grove Mennonite
Church and volunteered at World Missionary Press and as a grader for
Gospel Echoes Team Prison Ministry.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday
and one hour prior to the funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4,
2010, at Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church, Goshen. Pastor Randall
Riegsecker and the Pleasant Grove Ministry will officiate. Burial will
be in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen.

She was born Jan. 21, 1932, to Edward P. and Gertrude (Stutzman) Yoder
in Hutchinson, Kan. On Sept. 20, 1953, she married Vernon A. Miller. He
died Feb. 17, 1993.
Surviving are sons Rodney Lee (Susan) Miller of Rochester, N.Y., and
Roger Ryan Davis of Casper, Wyo.; daughter Tina Renee Davis of Casper;
sister Esther Kauffman of Middlebury; and seven grandchildren.
Ida was a homemaker and a member of Mount Moriah Worship Center, Goshen.

2010 at Creighton University Medical Center. He was born February
21, 1926 in rural Hutchinson, KS to William Edward and Emma Nisly
Miller. On April 16, 1950, he married Clara Helmuth in rural
Hutchinson.
He was a member of Word of Life Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson KA
and had been active in Mennonite Disaster Service. He was also a former
mayor of Partridge, KS.
Survived by his wife Clara; a son: Howard and his wife Carolyn, of
Fishersville, Virginia; three daughters: Doris Stutzman and her husband
Gary of Sedgwick, KS, Rita Nisly and her husband Merle of Red Lake,

tumor.
He was born August 24, 1942 at Arthur, IL to Jacob E. and Polly J.
(Helmuth) Miller. Jacob was born December 21, 1903 and died March
14, 1989. Polly was born December 31, 1904 and died September 19,
1964.
On September 6, 1970 at Camp Hebron, Halifax, PA he was married to
Helen L. Kraybill, who was born February 20, 1944 and survives.
Surviving are children, Wendell and Rachel Epp Miller and Frances
Miller, and siblings: P. Barbara and Floyd Hershberger; Alma Bontrager;
Eli and Mary Sue

The ninth in a family of 11 children, he is survived by Barbara (Floyd)
Hershberger of Tucson, Ariz., Alma Bontrager and Eli (Mary Sue) and
Orie Miller, all of Goshen, Ind., Henry (Mildred) Miller of Harlan,
Ind., Chris (Lola) Miller of Denver, Colo., Emery (Mary Alice) Miller

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Daniel and
sister-in-law Anna Miller.

up in Goshen and graduated from Bethany Christian High School. He
earned a B.A. in music from Eastern Mennonite College and a master's
degree from Manhattan School of Music in music education.

Miller, Mahlon A., 86 of Kalona, IA died November 5, 2010 at the
Pleasantview Home in Kalona. He was born March 5, 1924 in Hartville, OH
to Adam and Anna (Schlabach) Miller. When he was a teenager, his family
moved to Kalona. On October 5, 1944, he was united in marriage to Clara
Coblentz in Kalona.
He was a charter member of the Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church
where he taught Sunday School. He served in the CPS in Terry, Montana
and Norristown, PA. He also lead a bible study group at the Oakdale
Classification Center [Iowa Dept. Corrections] for several years.
Survived by a daughter Anna Fern King and husband John, a son LaVern
Miller and wife Leora both of Kalona, IA; 9 grandchildren; 33 great
grandchildren; and two sisters - Sara Yoder and husband Amos of Grove
City, Minnesota; and Lavina Kauffman of Kalona, IA.
e was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Clara; a daughter -

Age 84, of Hartville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday May 3,
2010 suddenly. He was born in Greentown, Ohio on Sept. 23, 1925 to the
late Eli and Maggie (Troyer) Miller. He served in the US Army during
World War II, and while stationed in Maryland met and then married
Miriam 'Fay' Boyd. He started working for F.E. Schumacher in 1951 and
retired in 2004. Manass was a member of Hartville Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his wife, Fay of 63 years; children, Thomas (Natalie)
Miller of Clinton, Wade (Glenda) Miller of Carrollton, Sandra (David)

She is survived by a sister, Barbara (Norman "Bud") Hostetler of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Rheinheimer, and a
brother, Calvin Miller.
She was a member of the Shore Mennonite Church, Shipshewana. She worked
as a dental assistant for 20 years in Topeka and worked at Yoder's
Department Store for 33 years in Shipshewana.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shore Mennonite Church,
7235 W. 100 N., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Tuesday at the church. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Carl

Greencroft Gables Health Care, Goshen, IN. She was born on
September 12, 1926 in Shipshewana, IN to Homer J. and Lizzie (Troyer)
Miller.
She was a member of the Shore Mennonite Church, Shipshewana, IN where
she had taught Sunday School and Bible School.
Surviving is a sister, Barbara (Norman "Bud") Hostetler of Topeka, IN;
six nieces and seven nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marjorie
Rheinheimer, a brother, Calvin Miller.
Funeral service was November 16, 2010 at the Shore Mennonite Church.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Carl Horner. Burial was in Shore
Cemetery, Shipshewana, IN.

Miller, Mark M., 77, of Denver, CO died December 4, 2010 at
Rome, Italy after a brief illness. He was born May 21, 1933 in
Somerset Co., PA to Evan J. and Iva (Maust) Miller. On May 29,
1965 he was married to Ardis Phillips, who was born August 12, 1934 and
survives.
Surviving are a daughter, Kay Miller, a son, Evan (Elizabeth) Miller,
one grandchild, and a sister, Marie Yoder.
Two sisters, Norma Yoder, and Mildred Bender preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held January 4, 2011 at First Mennonite Church,

She was born April 20, 1912, in Nappanee to Jacob and Sophia (Bleile)
Holaway. On Nov. 1, 1939, she married Lester J. Miller in Nappanee. He
died July 1989.
Surviving are children Dorcas (Don) Steider of Goshen, Lynford (Lois)
Miller of Middlebury, Philip (Nanette) Miller of Goshen; grandchildren
Austin Miller of Goshen, Brett Miller of Los Angeles, Susan (Ben)

of Goshen, Deidre Bias and Bryan Steider, both of Elkhart, Brendan
(Holly) Steider of Archbold, Ohio, Janell Harris of Raleigh, N.C.; and

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.
A homemaker, she was a member of North Main Street Mennonite Church,
Nappanee, and had lived in Nappanee until moving to Greencroft in 1988.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at North Main
Street Mennonite Church. Burial will be in UnionCemetery, Nappanee.

Mary "Etta" Frye-Miller,
89, of Goshen, died at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Courtyard
of Goshen.
She was born March 12, 1921, in Kosciusko County, to Eli S. and Savilla
(Schmucker) Yoder. In 1941, in Elkhart County, she married Daniel Frye.
He died Nov. 6, 1971. She married Leander Miller in 1982 in Elkhart
County. He died Nov. 3, 2005.
Surviving are daughters Rose Mary Newton of LaGrange, and Treva "T.J."
Yoder and Danette (Gerald) Miller, both of Goshen; eight grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and sister Laura
Miller of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by granddaughter Jenessa Miller; brothers
Manas, Melvin, Eli and Irvin Yoder; and sisters Fannie Yoder, Lydia Mae
Eash and Elizabeth Dunlap.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home,
Middlebury. Private family burial will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery,
Middlebury. A memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at First
Mennonite Church. The Revs. Linford Martin and Pamela Yoder will
officiate.

Miller, Mary Etta Yoder, 89, of
died August 25, 2010 at Goshen, IN. She was born March 12, 1921

On April 2, 1982 in Elkhart Co., IN she was married to Leander Miller,
who was born April 19, 1920 and died November 3, 2005. Her first
marriage was to Daniel Frye in Elkhart Co. in 1941. He died
November 6, 1971.
Surviving are children, Rose Mary Newton, Treva Yoder, and Danette
(Gerald) Miller, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a sister,
Laura Miller.
A granddaughter, Jenessa Miller and four brothers and three sisters:
Manas, Melvin, Eli, and Irvin Yoder, Fannie Yoder, Lydia Mae Eash, and
Elizabeth Dunlap preceded her in death.
Etta was a homemaker and the head cook at Northridge High School,
Middlebury, for several years. She also worked as a seamstress,
doing clothing alterations for people. She was a member of the
First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. She enjoyed doing
volunteer work for Greencroft and volunteered for many years as a Red
Coat at Goshen General Hospital.
Memorial services were held August 28, 2010 at First Mennonite Church,
Middlebury, IN with burial in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury, IN.

Mattie was a member of First Mennonite Church in Middlebury. She
worked at several restaurants and the Northridge High School
cafeteria. She loved to crochet, quilt, play cards and
entertain. There would always be a fresh cup of coffee and some
sort of dessert waiting in her kitchen for all that would stop by.

2010) at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Oct. 23, 1926, in Nappanee.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Miller; sons Wayne and Ernest Miller,
both of Nappanee, and Lamar, Floyd, Vernon and Omer, all of Milford;
daughters Wilma Jean Miller and Barbara Ann Miller, both of Milford; 39
grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a brother, Eldon Miller of
Florida; and a sister, Esther Chupp of Nappanee.
Friends may call all day today at the family residence.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Don Schmucker
residence, 5509 W. 1050 N. Bishop Lyle Yoder and the home ministry of
the Old Order Amish Church will officiate.

80, of Middlebury, died at 2 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at the BRC
Home in Middlebury. She had been in declining health for five years.
She was born Dec. 7, 1929, in Middlebury, to Menno and Libbie
(Rhinesmith) Keim. On Dec. 20, 1953, in Middlebury, she married Frank
Miller.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Miller; daughter Annette (Mike)
Neff of Goshen; sons Mike (Marcia) and Brian (Kim) Miller, both of
Middlebury; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters
Martha and Ruth Keim and Rachael (Dwight) Miller, all of Goshen, and
Mary Miller of Pine Bluff, Alaska; and brother Dan (Betty) Keim of
Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and one sister.

Miller, Ray, 97, of Walnut Creek, OH died November 15, 2010 in
Walnut Creek Nursing Home. He was born March 2, 1913 in Hutchinson,
Kansas, to Daniel N. and Elizabeth (Fry) Miller. On May 6, 1939 he
married Clara Rosa Miller who proceeded him in death in
2001. He moved to Morrow Co., OH in 1952 answering the call
of full-time pastorate of the Johnsville Mennonite Church, where he
served for 18 years. He served as a school and library board member. He
loved to sing hymns and study the Bible.
Survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Nathan Ray and Viola
(Mullet) Miller of Beach City, OH; Daniel Jay and Joanne (Fairchild)
Miller of Franklin, TN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorcas May and

92, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen.
She had moved there Feb. 1, 2002.
She was born Jan. 2, 1918, to Jonathan and Lucy (Kauffman) Mast in
Nappanee. On Jan. 18, 1944, she married Eli L. Miller in Uniontown,
Ohio. He died March 14, 1984.
Surviving are daughters Erma Humes, Mary (David) Piehl and Martha
(Dennis) Ganger, all of Goshen; sons Marvin (Violet) Miller of Colorado
Springs, Colo., Leroy (Marjorie) Miller of Goshen and Paul (Debra)
Miller of Elkhart; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters
Laura Lawson of Niles, Mich., and Verna Newton of Elkhart; and brothers
Elmer Mast of Mishawaka, Rueben Mast of South Bend, Irvin Mast of
Geneva and Chester Mast of Nappanee.
Sarah was preceded in death by five sisters, Edna Wittmer, Louella
Canton, Viola Hill, Clara Bontrager and Leona Lengacher; and two
brothers, Emery and Christ Mast.
She was a homemaker and had worked with unwed pregnant teenagers for
RETA (Reason Enough To Act) with what was known as "Sarah's House."
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at The
Meetinghouse at Greencroft and one hour prior to Saturday's 10 a.m.
funeral service at The Meetinghouse. Pastors Ron Diener and Craig
Garber will officiate. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery.

at Walnut Creek, OH from natural causes. He was born October 28,
1918 at Millersburg, OH to Joe J. and Lovina (Beechy) Miller. On
December 28, 1946 at Smithville, OH he was married to Bernice Meyer,
who was born September 28, 1921 and survives.
Surviving are children, Joe (Rebecca Slough) Miller, Ben (Elaine)
Miller, John Miller, and Mark (Brenda) Miller and 6 grandchildren.
A son, Jonathan Miller, a brother, Donald Miller and a sister, Vera
Wengerd preceded him in death.
He served with MCC - India in 1947-49, Nigeria from 1982-85 and with
Eastern Board of Missions - Tanzania 1988-90. He was a charter
member of Millersburg Mennonite Church and founded Save and Serve MCC
Thrift Store in Millersburg, OH.

near Berlin, OH to Joe J. and Lovina (Beechy) Miller. He married
Bernice Meyer in Smithville, OH on Dec. 28, 1946, and six months later
they sailed for India where they engaged in relief work with Mennonite
Central Committee. Upon their return, they lived on the family farm
where they reared their four sons and cared for their parents in their
declining years. Sturges was a school teacher for more than 40 years,
mostly in East Holmes School District, but also in Massillon, Killbuck
and five years in Nigeria and Tanzania, Africa. He and Bernice were
charter members of Millersburg Mennonite Church, where he was active in
many aspects of the church life, especially as a Sunday school teacher,
a song leader and an elder.
Survived by his wife Bernice and four children and their spouses,
Joseph and Rebecca Slough Miller of Goshen, Ind.; Ben and Elaine Miller
of Berlin, OH; John Miller of Berlin, OH and Mark and Brenda Miller of
Reinholds, Pa.; six grandchildren, Brandon, Adam and Tim Miller and
Jeptha, Elsa and Anna Miller.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jonathan Miller; a brother,
Donald Miller; and a sister, Vera Wengerd.
Funeral service was December 15, 2010 at Martin's Creek Mennonite
Church, Millersburg, OH with pastors Patrick and Christine Nafziger
officiating.

Vesta Viola (Swartzentruber)
Hochstedler-Miller, 94, Greentown, was rewarded for her faithful
witness and service by being called home to fellowship with her
Heavenly Father at 3:35 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, surrounded by her
family.
Vesta was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Miami County, the daughter of Andrew
and Clara (Troyer) Swartzentruber. Vesta married Harvey (Hap)
Hochstedler on Oct. 23, 1937, and he preceded her in death July 13,
1967. Vesta then married Abe Miller on June 19, 1970, and he preceded
her in death May 20, 2003.
Vesta loved being a homemaker, wife and mother. She had a passion for
prayer, especially for her family. Her faithfulness in praying for her
family has made an impact on five generations. She was a member of
Howard-Miami Mennonite Church where she was very active.
Vesta enjoyed attending the sports and musicals in which her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated.
Vesta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and is survived by her
brother Carl Swartzentruber; daughter, Carol Boshart and her husband,
Royden, Washington, Iowa; daughter Claranette Wilson and her husband,
Larry, Greentown; seven grandchildren, Shelley Collier and her husband,
Mark, Noblesville, Aaron Hochstedler and his wife, Angie, Greentown,
Lisa Glasgow and her husband, Larry, East China, Mich., Marketta Leyden
and her husband, Jeff, Alta, Iowa, Deneen Sommers and her husband,
Dale, Greentown, Larry Deon Wilson and his wife, Lynette, Cassville,
Debra Jackson and her husband, Eric, Marion; 19 great-grandchildren,
Shane Collier, Meghan Collier, Austin Hochstedler, Ashlynn Hochstedler,
Tiffany Glasgow and fiancé, Wes Ball, Natalie Glasgow, Nicole
Glasgow, Drew Leyden and wife Ashli, Holly Diischer and husband Corey,
Luke Sommers and wife Kristina, Nathaniel Sommers, Joy Sommers, Joshua
Sommers, Jordan Wilson, Courtney Wilson, Hannah Wilson, Cierra Wilson,

Blaine Leyden, Wrigley Leyden, and Trevor Diischer.
Vesta had four stepchildren, Jonas Miller, Wilbur Miller, Glen Ray
Miller and Linda Bontreger; 12 step-grandchildren; 18
step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Hap Hochstedler
and Abe Miller; and a son, Carl Burnell Hochstedler.
A service celebrating the life of Vesta Miller is 10 a.m. Tuesday at
the Howard-Miami Mennonite Church, 700 E. 600 North, Kokomo, with
Pastors Randy Detweiler and Brad Swain officiating. Burial will be in
the Mast Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 3 to 8 p.m.
Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Howard-Miami Mennonite Church
or to Northwood Village.

ETNA GREEN -- Wyman Lynn Miller,
13, of 8409 W. 750 N., Etna Green, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 28,
2010) in a home-related accident on the family farm.
He was born Jan. 16, 1997, in Mishawaka to Lloyd E. and Margaret S.
Hochstetler Miller.
He is survived by his parents; four brothers, Darrell (Rebecca) of Etna
Green, and Myron Dale, Marlin Ray, and Lloyd Jr., all at home; four
sisters, Suzetta, Rosalie, Kay Ellen and Marla Renae, all at home; and

at Lagrange, IN from a heart attack. He was born July 9, 1938 at
Shipshewana, IN to Sanford and Millie (Nusbaum) Mishler. On March
22, 1997 he was married to Darlene Helmuth (Rheinheimer), who survives.
Surviving are a daughter, Ami (Juan) Glassburn, a stepson Craig

81, of Goshen, formerly of Nappanee, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2,
2010, in Elkhart General Hospital, where he had been since Aug. 25.
He was born Aug. 19, 1929, in Kosciusko County, to John and Emma
(Schmucker) Mishler. On June 12, 1959, he married Ina Lou (Creech)
Mishler. She died July 11, 1992.
Surviving are a daughter, Tammy Mishler, and sons Timothy, James and
Jody, all of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by sisters Mary Lambert, Elizabeth Mishler and
Katie Maust and brothers Samuel, Dan and Harvey Mishler.
He retired from Anderson Boling, now Benteler Automotive Corp., Goshen,
and was a member of Gospel Lighthouse, Goshen, and Full Gospel
Community Church, New Paris.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at
Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, where the

She was born on Friday, Nov. 23, 1917, in Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Abram Metzler and Susan (Denglinger) Metzler Hartford. She was the widow of Earl W. Mosemann, who died July 24, 2001.
Alta was a homemaker and a member of Blue Ridge Mennonite Church, Carlisle, PA
She is survived by three sons, Joel M. Mosemann of Newville, James E. Mosemann of Edmonton, Ky., and David R. Mosemann of Raymond, Alberta, Canada; two daughters, Barbara A. Mosemann of Elk Hart, Ind., and Carol J. Beachy of Mylo, N.D.; a brother, Ted Metzler of Leola; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

at Walnut Hills Nursing Home, Walnut Creek, Ohio. She was born on Feb.
29, 1920 in Berlin, OH to Joseph and Fannie (Coblentz) Kandel. On Sept.
18, 1937 she married Roy A. Mullet and he preceded her in death on Oct.
2, 1998. She was a member of the Berlin Mennonite Church.
Surviving are four children and their spouses, Maurice and Phyllis
Mullet of Berlin, OH; Juanita and Chauncey Miller, Jr. of Benton, OH;
Betty Lou and Richard Clark of Dover, OH; and Marlin Mullet of

SYRACUSE -- Raymond D. Mullet,
63, of Syracuse and formerly of Goshen, passed away Dec. 24, 2010, at
6:15 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse, of complications resulting
from a stroke suffered in October.
Raymond was born Sept. 11, 1947 in Bremen to Daniel J. and Emma (Yoder)
Mullet. On Nov. 10, 1976, he married Wanda Chupp. He was a lifelong
area resident and retired as a self-employed carpenter, which had been
his trade for over 40 years.
He was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church, where over the years
he had served as a board member, a Sunday school teacher, a faithful
member of the nursing home ministry team and was a past Sunday school
superintendent. He loved to play the mandolin and violin, especially
bluegrass gospel music.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Mullet of Syracuse; five children,
Carl R. (Josie) Mullet of Portland, Ore., Nora Jean (Travis) Hensley of
Warsaw, Amanda Jolene (Josh) Vandevender of Linn, Mo., Earl Dean Mullet
of Nappanee and Julie Ann (Joshua) Crider of Elkhart; five
grandchildren, Micah Greggory Hensley, Hannah Elizabeth Dawn Hensley

SMITHVILLE -- R. Wayne Mumaw,
69, formerly of Smithville, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Glendora
Health Care Center in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Wayne was born on July 21, 1941, in Smithville, to Ralph and Mildred
(Schrock) Mumaw.
He graduated from Smithville High School in 1959 and acquired a
bachelor of science degree in physical education from Friends
University in Kansas. During his IW service at Goshen College he also
coached basketball at Bethany CHS. For many years, he worked as an area
representative for Mennonite Mutual Aid, serving churches in 12
Midwestern states. More recently, he was self-employed in various jobs
including flea marketing and driving and delivering for the Amish. He
attended Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville and enjoyed volunteer
time at MCC Connections in Kidron. He was a loving and caring father
and a sports enthusiast.
Surviving are two sons, Rodney (Wendy) Mumaw of Mansfield, Texas, and
Ryan Leahy of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Lisa (David) Navarro of
Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren, Hayley, Zane, Kiegan, Emma and

(Hertzler) Musser and a lifelong resident of New Holland, PA.
Miss Musser was a member of the New Holland Mennonite Church, where she
had been a teacher in the adult Sunday school for 45 years. She was
also an active member of the Sewing Circle of that church. Other
activities included membership in the Country Gardeners Club and the
Senior Citizens of New Holland.
She is survived by one brother, Jacob H. Musser, a sister, Anna Horst
both of New Holland, PA; and 9 nieces and nephews. Funeral service was
November 14, 2010 at Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel, Lititz, PA.
Interment was in the New Holland Mennonite Cemetery, New Holland, PA.

Musser, Miriam L. Good, 66, of Tunkhannock, PA died February
28,2010 at Wyoming Valley Medical Center from pancreatic cancer.
She was born March 18, 1943 at Caernarvon Twp., Lancaster Co., PA to
Lester and Maggie Good. On September 5, 1964 she was
married to Robert Musser, who was born January 15, 1943 and survives.
Surviving are children, Maria, and Tim, 3 grandchildren, and siblings,
Alice, wife of Raymond Martin of Ephrata, PA, Rhoda, wife of Andre
Kalend of Morgantown, WV, and Ruth of Lititz, PA, Arthur of Narvon, PA,
Harold, husband of Joanne of Anderson, South Carolina, and Robert,
husband of Cindy of Blue Ball, PA.
A brother, Elvin, husband of Eleanor of Rothville, PA, preceded her in
death.
Memorial services were held March 4, 2010 at Community Bible Church,
Tunkhannock, PA.

Musser , Miriam L. Good, 66, of
Tunkhannock, PA died February 28, 2010 after a courageous battle with
pancreatic cancer. The daughter of the late Lester and Maggie Good, she
is survived by her husband Bob of 45 years; daughter, Maria, wife of
Doug Musselman; son, Tim; grandchildren, Lydia, Rachel and Jacob;
siblings, Alice Martin, Arthur, Harold, Ruth, Rhoda Kalend and Robert.
She was predeceased by brothers, Elvin and Charles.
A funeral service was held at Community Bible Church, Tunkhannock,
conducted by Co-Pastors Blaine and Connie Detwiler of Lakeview
Mennonite Church where she was a member.

Myer, Esther M. Hostetter, 92, of Lancaster, PA died February
24, 2010 at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster, PA. Born on February 23,
1918 in Manor Twp., Lancaster Co., PA, to Christian and Stella Mowrer
Hostetter. Her husband was Landis E. Myer, he died January 23, 2005.
A lifelong member of Habecker Mennonite Church, Lancaster, PA she
served as a Sunday school teacher, attended sewing circle and assisted
her late husband in his role as a pastor in the congregation.
Survived by her daughter: Nancy J. wife of J. Richard Witmer, Manheim,
PA. Two sons: Earl E. husband of Janet Wolgemuth Myer, Mountville, PA
and Nelson H. husband of Janice Enterline Myer, Lancaster, PA. Six
grandsons and thirteen great-grandchildren. Two sisters: Elizabeth
Nissley, Manheim, PA and Miriam Breneman, York, PA. Twin brothers:
Harvey husband of Mary Hollinger Hostetter and Harold husband of Jean
Mummau Hostetter, both of Lititz, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Landis and two sisters: Mary
Lefever and Dora Heisey. Funeral Service was March 1, 2010 at Habecker
Mennonite Church, with Pastor Karen J. Sensenig and Chaplain Dorcas J.
Martzall officiating. Interment was in the Habecker Mennonite Cemetery
Lancaster, PA.

Myers, Irene Landis, 90, of Souderton, PA died October 7, 2010
at Souderton Mennonite Homes. She was born in Franconia Twp. Montgomery
Co, PA to John and Catherine (Moyer) Landis. She was the wife of the
late A. David Myers. Irene was a member of Haycock Mennonite Church
Quakertown, PA.
She is survived by: Mary Ann Stone (Daughter) of Hatfield, PA 2
Grandchildren Many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband David and 3 sisters, Laura
Halteman, Alice Bolton & Margaret Derstine and 3 brothers, Abram,
Frank & Edgar Landis.
Funeral service was October 9, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at Summit View
Auditorium @ Souderton Mennonite Homes, Souderton, PA. Burial will be
at Haycock Mennonite Cemetery Quakertown, PA.

Myers, Miriam T. Detweiler, 95, of Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA
died January 4, 2010 at the same place. She was born November 27,
1914 at Plumstead Twp, Bucks Co., PA. On April 22, 1939 she was
married to C. Garwood Myers, who was born May 28, 1918 and survives.
Surviving are children, Eric Myers; Gerald Myers & Darlene; Lee
Myers & Melinda; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren,
brother, Alvin Detweiler & Anna; sister, Irma Detweiler; sister,
Elizabeth Rush; sister, Dorothy Keeler & Earl; and sister-in-law,
Miriam Detweiler.
A brother, Wilmer Detweiler, and a sister, Mildred Clemmer preceded her
in death.
Memorial services were held January 8, 2010 at Souderton Mennonite
Homes, Souderton, PA with burial in Blooming Glen Mennonite Cemetery,
Blooming Glen,
Bucks Co., PA.

Mylin, Helen B. Hess, 97, of Landis Homes, Lititz, PA died March
6, 2010 at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center. She was born
December 15, 1912 in West Willow, PA to Maris Miller and Lillie Herr
(Brubaker) Hess.
Before moving to Landis Homes eight years ago, she lived in the same
house she was born in for the first 89 years of her life. Helen was
preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Mylin, in April of 1993.
Mrs. Mylin was a life long member of New Danville Mennonite Church,
where she was active in the sewing circle. She was a member of the
Black Rock Auxiliary, and a life member of the West Willow Fire Company
Auxiliary. In her retirement years, she sewed and knitted hundreds of
comforters for the Mennonite Central Committee.
Survived by her two sons: Robert M., husband of Mary (Shenk) Mylin of
Willow Street, PA and Jay L., husband of Carol (Hess) Mylin of Manheim,
PA; seven grandchildren: Don, Dale, Dennis, Deb, Michelle, Scott and
Andrea, and 24 great grandchildren.
Memorial service was Wednesday evening, March 10, 2010 at New Danville
Mennonite Church, Lancaster, PA with Rev. Curtiss Kanagy officiating.
Burial was private and prior to the memorial service.
