Seth was born on October 10, 1990, a precious gift on the birth date he shared with his mother. His short but rich life came to an end on Monday, August 1, 2011.
Seth was known for his intelligence, wit, broad kindness and deep, caring, honest friendships. He had a sense of humor punctuated by an unmistakable laugh. Seth had a great joy for life and impacted almost everyone in ways that even he didn't fully recognize, drawing people into his world exclusive of no one. He loved music, tacos, snow and longboarding, bicycling, hiking, and camping. His faith in Christ was genuine and foundational for all he did. He was an active member at College Community Mennonite Brethren Church in Clovis, where he worked as a summer intern in 2009. Seth was a graduate of Sanger High School, where he participated in band, played varsity football and track, and was a leader in student life. He was a senior at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. At Bethel Seth helped to start a coffee shop on campus, participated actively in campus student life, co-hosted a campus radio show, and performed in several plays. When at home in Fresno, he worked at Simonian Farms.

Dyck, David
June 12, 1926 - July 30, 2011
David Dyck was born on June 12th, 1926, in the village of Miloradovka, one of several Mennonite settlements in the Ukraine, the son of David Gerhard Dyck and Agneta (Kroeker) Dyck. In November of 1929, along with his parents and older, sister (Helen), and younger sister (Martha) David began the long, and difficult journey to emigrate to Canada. They settled in Grassy Lake, AB on July 4th, 1930. In 1931 they were able to purchase 320 acres of farm land and began farming. As a family, they continued to farm in Grassy Lake up until 1966.
In 1936, at the age of 10, David accepted Jesus Christ as his personal saviour, and he lived every day of his life in a close relationship with Him. He was baptized in 1941, at the age of 15. Over the next few years he attended Bible School in Coaldale, AB, as well as Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, and MBBC in Winnipeg, MB. In the summer of 1943, David had the opportunity to be involved with developing the first summer camp at the Southern Alberta Bible Camp. Over the rest of his life, church camps would have a special place in his heart. David continued to farm with his father, during those years. They were busy years, full of hard but rewarding work.
In early 1955, David was introduced to Mary Klassen and the two of them were married on June 3rd, 1955. They continued to farm in Grassy Lake until 1966, at which time they moved to the Linden area and began building a hog farm. By this time their family had grown with the addition of their children: Esther, Danny, Arthur, Glenn and Stephen.
Both David and Mary were busy with life on the farm, with the family, and with being involved in the church here in Linden. Over the years they taught Sunday School, worked with the Youth and, in the case of David, were very involved in various committees and church projects. The project that resonated the most with David was Camp Evergreen. David was involved with Camp Evergreen, right from its inception. He not only served on the board, but helped with the planning and actual construction of the facility. He had an ongoing passion for Camp Evergreen, his entire life. The 70's and early 1980's were good years on the farm and in the family. The family farmed together up until late 1988, when, with the collapse in the hog market, high interest rates and pressure from the bank, they shut down the farm.
With the loss of the farm, David now had a great deal of time on his hands, but rather than relax into retirement he became busier than ever with Church work and Camp Evergreen and was also involved with Mennonite Mutual Insurance, sat on Village council and was instrumental in the planning and building the Linden Seniors Lodge. David and Mary also managed to have many travelling holidays during these years. But no matter what all was going on, family always came first to David. In his last years, David slowed down a fair bit, as travelling became too difficult. But he always had a story to tell, a solution to a question, or a bit of gentle advice or wisdom to share with you.
David passed away peacefully, late in the evening, on Saturday, July 30th, at the Three Hills Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; his daughter Esther (and Bernie) Giese, of Linden, AB, and their children Chris (Anna) Giese and Michael (Julie) Giese; by his son Danny (and Brenda) Dyck, of Vernon, BC, their children Andy (Stephanie) Dyck, Carl James "CJ" (Anna) Dyck, Shelby (Cory) Munk, and Danielle Nicole "Nici" (Jon) Carey; by his son Arthur (and Caroline) Dyck, of Linden, AB, and their children Peter (Randi) Dyck and Kevin Dyck; by his son Glenn (and Jean) Dyck, of Innisfail, AB, their children Brent Neumiller-Dyck, Mark (Lindsay) Dyck, and Greg Dyck; and by his son Stephen (and Kristin) Dyck-Ellerbeck, of Victoria, BC, and their children Delean Dyck-Ellerbeck, Seth Dyck-Ellerbeck, Taeja Dyck-Ellerbeck and Kai Dyck-Ellerbeck; along with 13 great-grandchildren, his sisters Helen Peters, of Winnipeg, MB; Martha Janzen, of Pincher Creek, AB; and Agnes Bartel, of Coaldale, AB, and his brothers Walter (and Lydia) Dyck, of Winnipeg, MB, and Rudy (and Anne) Dyck, of Saskatoon, SK.
Memorial Services were held Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Linden Mennonite Brethren Church, Linden, AB with interment in Linden Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to Camp Evergreen, Box 492, Sundre, AB Arrangements in care of SUNSET FUNERAL SERVICE Linden, 403-546-3903.
