Eureka - Ina Garber, 98, of Eureka, formerly of Morton, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka. She was born June 30, 1914, in Minier to Asa and Elizebeth (Egli) Nafziger. She married Ora Garber on Nov. 24, 1955, in Hopedale. He preceded her in death in 1967.
She also was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Shirley Roth; two brothers; and two sisters.
Surviving are her stepdaughter, Virginia (Bob) Weaver of Peoria; eight step-grandchildren; one brother, Orval Nafziger of Eureka; and many nieces and nephews.
Ina worked as a licensed practical nurse at Methodist Medical Center and OSF St. Francis Medical Center, both in Peoria. She also worked in several area nursing homes, last working 15 years at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton until her retirement. She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Morton. Ina took up oil painting shortly before her retirement and enjoyed painting for many years.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, in Memorial Hall at Maple Lawn in Eureka, with Pastor Doane Brubaker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Thursday at the hall. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Tremont. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maple Lawn Health Center, 700 N. Main St, Eureka, IL 61530.

GOSHEN - Maurice E. Garber, 92, of Goshen, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Maples at Waterford Crossing, Goshen where he was admitted on Oct. 12, 2012.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1920, in Goshen, to Earl and Bertha (Kauffman) Garber.
On Sept. 25, 1943, he married Elizabeth Miller at her home. she died Dec. 1, 2006.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen (Verlin) Troyer of Millersburg, Joan (Wayne) Gingerich of Hudson and Gretchen (Verl) Weaver of Goshen; a son, Craig (JoAnn) Garber of Goshen; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Olene) Garber of Bristol and Marion (Florence) Garber of Goshen; a sister, Donnabelle (Clair) Hoover of Goshen; and a sister-in-law, Delores Garber of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a sister, Betty Betzelberger; and a brother, LaMar Garber.
He was a member of Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, a farmer and a contractor.
He attended Goshen High School and did his volunteer CPS at Sidling Hill in Pennsylvania.
He enjoyed all sports, with football as his favorite, and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
He was also a part of the Wednesday morning Men's Hilltop club.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, Goshen. There will also be visitation from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, with the funeral service following at 10 a.m. also at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Terry Diener.
Burial will be in Clinton Union Cemetery.

Garber, Maurice E., 92, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died November 2, 2012 at the same place. He was born September 2, 1920 at Goshen, IN to Earl and Bertha (Kauffman) Garber. On September 25 1943 at Shipshewana, IN he was married to Elizabeth Miller, who was born February 11, 1924 and died December 1, 2006.

She was born December 29, 1945 at Coatesville, Chester Co., PA to Aaron Weber and Florence I. (Baker) Gehman. Aaron was born May 1, 1909 and died May 17, 1966. Florence was born February 14, 1905 and died September 18, 1983.
Surviving are two brothers, Donald Gehman married to Ruth, and Paul Gehman married to Inez, and three sisters, Joyce Gehman, Janet Gehman, and Margaret Gehman.

He was born March 17, 1962 at Lancaster, PA to Donald H. and Ruth (Eby) Gehman. Donald was born March 1, 1931 and died May 18, 2012. Ruth was born October 22, 1928 and survives.
Surviving with his mother is a sister, Diane Gehman.

He was born March 1, 1931 at Wernersville, PA to Aaron W. and Florence (Baker) Gehman. Aaron was born May 1, 1909 and died May 17, 1966. Florence was born February 14, 1905 and died September 18, 1983.
On October 27, 1958 at Gap, PA he was married to Ruth Eby, who was born October 22, 1928 and survives.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane E. Gehman, a son, D. Frederic Gehman, one brother, Paul (Inez Bowman) Gehman; and three sisters, Joyce Gehman, Janet Gehman, and Margaret Gehman.

As a young man he organized, and for several years directed, a choir of young Mennonites. He did much to encourage good music in local Mennonite churches and give young people a chance to sing in choirs at a time when local Mennonite leaders did not endorse such activity.

She was a member of the Kidron Mennonite Church in Kidron where she taught Sunday school, served in the Women's Missionary Society, attended youth activities, and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Kidron Community Historical Society.
Surviving is a sister, Celia (Calvin) Lehman of Orrville; and a brother, Ellis (Edna) Gerber of Mt. Lake, Minnesota; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy (Dave) Schrock.
Funeral services were July 7, 2012 at the Kidron Mennonite Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

MIDDLEBURY - Gertrude Marie Gilson, 91, of Middlebury, died at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at home.
She was born Nov. 11, 1921, to Daniel D. and Emma (Hochstetler) Troyer in Hartville, Ohio.
On July 6, 1939, she married William Glenn Gilson in New Castle, Pa. He died Oct. 17, 1983.
Her children, Virginia (Willie) Barfield, Marjorie (Moses) Troyer of Goshen, Laura (Jeff) Zimmerman of Middlebury, Dorothy (Robert) Hall, Janet Hall, Robert (YaVonne) Gilson, William (Debra) Gilson of Shipshewana, Daniel (Tonna) Gilson of Syracuse and David Gilson of Middlebury; 40 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great grandchildren; and brothers Valentine (Lizzie) Troyer and Eli Troyer survive.
Her grandchildren, Robert Hall, Lisa Hall, Ryan Gilson and Colby Gilson; great-grandchild Carson Boley; and siblings Mose, Mike, David, Albert, William and Susan Troyer preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Griner Mennonite Church.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.

Pastor Ginder was ordained a deacon in 1961. In 1974 he began serving as pastor for the Mennonite Home until his retirement in 1995. He pastored Risser Mennonite Church from 1995 until June 2001, and officiated over 200 funerals. Ralph was also a farmer. He stopped farming in 1966 and went into carpentry with the late Vernon Zimmerman until 1979. During his years on the farm, Ralph also worked as a custom butcher. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and going to his hunting cabin in Lycoming County.
In addition to his wife Margaret, Ralph is survived by four children: Carl E., husband of Eunice Ginder, Mount Joy; Ann Simonetti, Marysville; Lois J., wife of Jay Boll, Mount Joy and Marie L., wife of Stephen Miller, Mount Joy; son-in-law Sherwood Espenshade; 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, and family friend Louis Simonetti.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Janet M. Espenshade, a great granddaughter and two brothers: Roy G. and Victor G. Ginder. A Funeral Service was July 6, 2012 at Risser Mennonite Church, 8360 Elizabethtown Interment will take place In Risser Mennonite Cemetery Elizabethtown, PA.

GOSHEN - Amelia E. Gingerich, 92, died Monday morning, Sept. 3, 2012, in her home.
She was born March 20, 1920, in Wolford, N.D., to the late Daniel and Fannie (Zook) Yoder.
She married Jacob B. Gingerich on Dec. 19, 1943, in Loogootee. He died May 13, 2007.
She is survived by five daughters, Elizabeth (Larry) Jones of Bristol, Pauline (Leon) Liechty of Lillian, Ala., Delores Kauffman of Pensacola, Fla., Sharon (Loren) Classen of Goshen and Debra (Ken) Wolfe of Elizabethtown, Pa.; sons Jacob (Dawn) Gingerich Jr. of Durango, Colo. and William (Karla) Gingerich of Bellefontaine, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Marjean Yutzy; a brother, Paul Yoder; and a grandson, Mark Liechty.
She recently moved to Goshen after living in Minnesota for 40 years and 10 years in Ligonier. She wintered in Alabama and Florida and enjoyed traveling to visit family members.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening and baking.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Yoder Culp Funeral Home and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Maple City Chapel where a 10 a.m. funeral service will be conducted.
The Rev. Gary Miller will officiate.
Burial will follow in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
Memorial contributions may be made to Maple City Chapel where Mrs. Gingerich attended when she was able.

LYDIA F. GINGERICH, 92, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 2:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at her residence in rural Tuscola, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Otto Center in Arthur, IL. Bishop Sam Schrock will officiate. Burial will be in the Otto Cemetery in Arthur, IL. Visitation will be anytime after 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Otto Center. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Lydia was born on December 9, 1919 in Arthur, IL. She was a daughter of Simon E. and Fannie (Diener) Otto. She married Eli C. Gingerich on May 14, 1942 in Arthur, IL.
She is survived by her husband, Eli Gingerich, four children, Ruby Viola Raber and her husband Al of Sun City, AZ, Willis Ray Gingerich and his wife Rolene of Goshen, IN, Sarah May Gingerich of Sarasota, FL, and Irene Freeman of Tuscola, IL; two sisters, Eliza Schrock of Lovington, IL and Katie Schrock of Arthur, IL; one brother, Robert Otto of Bella Vista, AR; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, a grandson, three brothers, Obed Otto, Otis Otto and Andrew Otto and two sisters, Barbara Miller and Verna Yoder.

GOSHEN - Marian J. Gingerich, 90, died early Saturday afternoon at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She had been in declining health over the past few years.
Mrs. Gingerich was born to the late Earl and Jessie (Philhower) Foster, on July 28, 1921, in Buda, Ill. On Sept. 21, 1940, she married William A. A. Gingerich, in Dennison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 2007.
Before moving to Goshen in 1971, Bill and Marian were farmers in Illinois. Upon moving to Goshen, Mrs. Gingerich was a homemaker and an employee of Goshen General Hospital for 24 years. She was a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.
She is survived by two sons, Dick (Shari) Gingerich and Keith (Virginia) Gingerich, both of Goshen; four grandchildren, Rick (Robin) Gingerich, Kathy (Mike) Geiger, Diane (Devon) Miller and Mike (Gail) Gingerich; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Foster of Buda.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. Pastors Wes Bontreger and Katie Cunningham will officiate. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Life Story for Marian Jeanette Gingerich
Born July 28, 1921 Died June 9, 2012
Marian Jeanette was born to Earl and Jessie (Philhower) Foster on July 28, 1921 in Buda, Illinois. She was the first child and only girl and was later joined by a brother Kenneth. Marian enjoyed living in a small town, near grandparents and had many friends. She attended the local Baptist church in Buda where she was baptized at age 17. Marian graduated from Buda High School in 1939.
At age 19 she married William “Bill” A. Gingerich in Dennison, Iowa on Sept. 21, 1940. Bill and Marian bought a farm near Buda. After their marriage, Marian joined Willow Springs Mennonite Church in Tiskilwa, Illinois, where Bill was a member. Marian and Bill were blessed with two sons, Richard and Keith. As the boys grew, they enjoyed farming with their Dad.
In 1971, Bill and Marian moved to Goshen, IN to live closer to their sons and their families. Bill worked for Kropf Manufacturing and Greencroft Health Care. Marian was a devoted homemaker and an employee of Goshen General Hospital for 24 years.
Living in Goshen, Marian and Bill attended College Mennonite Church for a number of years. When Bob Detweiler, one of the pastors of the Calvary Hour began as pastor at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, they began attending Yellow Creek. They became members of Yellow Creek Mennonite by transfer of membership on January 23, 1983. They were active members of the Yoke Fellows Sunday School Class and enjoyed Sunday school class activities.
Marian and Bill were married for sixty-seven years before Bill went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2007. Marian enjoyed having her family nearby and was blessed to celebrate her 90 th birthday with them in July 2011 at Spring Brook Club House in Goshen.
After several years of declining health, Marian went to be with the Lord early Saturday afternoon June 9, 2012 at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She was almost 91. Until her latest stroke, she was able to live in her home with the help of wonderful caregivers provided by her sons.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Bill. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Foster, of Buda, Ill, two sons, Dick (Shari) Gingerich, and Keith (Virginia) Gingerich, both of Goshen; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. They are

Paul was born on Aug. 2, 1952, to Ura and Gladys (Sommers) Gingerich in Ephrata, Pa. He was born two months premature and he astounded all by surviving. Paul always knew that his life was a gift from God. He lived his life fully in this knowledge and he strove to serve and praise God in all things. Paul and Joyce were married in 1975.
Surviving in addition to Joyce are daughter, Tabitha Gingerich of Harrisonburg, Va., and son, Matthew (Sara) Gingerich of Keezletown, Va.; his mother, Gladys; brothers, Merle Gingerich and Duane Gingerich of Lititz, Pa.; and many dear in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Paul taught Spanish and Bible for 30 years at Central Christian Schools. Paul felt a strong call to his work at CCS and both he and those he encountered were blessed by the relationships built there. He was a writer and musician. He was active in church work, serving as a Sunday school teacher, elder and caregiver. Paul was a mentor, friend, brother, and companion to many and he will be dearly missed.
Memorial services were March 10, 2012 at Community Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg, Va.; and March 17, 2012 at Kidron Mennonite Church in Kidron, OH.

GOSHEN - Willard E. Gingrich, 95, died surrounded by his family Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born Oct. 25, 1916, to Dilman and Cora (Ebersole) Gingrich in Freeport, Ill.
He graduated from Freeport High School and was a longtime resident of Freeport.
Willard married Olive Graybill in Dakota, Ill., on July 18, 1940.
Willard was a dairy farmer and lifetime member of Freeport Mennonite Church where he was active as Sunday school superintendent, teacher and elder. After retiring, Willard volunteered at Freeport Memorial Hospital for 17 years, serving 42,000-plus hours.
In Feb. 2006 Willard moved to Greencroft Assisted Living, Goshen, where he had lived the past 6 years.
Since his move to Goshen he had been a member of Waterford Mennonite Church.
Surviving are a son, Myron Gingrich (Lonna Stoltzfus) of Madison, Wis.; six daughters, Rachel (Kenneth) TerBeek of Saukville, Wis., Barbara (Byron) Kauffman of West Liberty, Ohio, Lila (Jim) Gascho of Goshen, June (Bill) Cleaveland of Chehalis, Wash., Connie (Byron) Warkentin of Elkhart and Beth Gingrich of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Gingrich of Goshen; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Willard was preceded in death by his wife, Olive, in May 2004; his parents; a sister, Lucille Brown; a son, Keith; a son-in-law, Everett Oaks; and twin great grandsons, Judah and Micah Walker Cleaveland.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. today, Aug. 8, 2012, at The Gathering Place at Evergreen Place, Greencroft campus, Goshen.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Services will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Freeport Mennonite Church with private graveside services at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Keith E. Gingrich Memorial Scholarship Fund at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart and Heifer International.

NELSONVILLE - Bennie D. Glenn, 79, of Nelsonville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at The Pickering House in Lancaster [OH].
He was born March 4, 1933 in Firebrick, Ky., son of the late Jessie and Pearl Scott Glenn. Bennie was married to Dovie Lutisha Love Glenn, who survives.
He was a retired, self employed contractor and was a member of Hocking Hills Mennonite Church.
Bennie is survived by his children, Gwendolyn J. (Julian) King of Virginia, Randel K. (Danita) Glenn of Junction City, Kim (Vernon) Martin of Wisconsin, Pamela R. (Raymond) Chupp of Virginia, Nathanael Q. (Tammy) Glenn of Virginia, Veasy E. (Valerie) Glenn of Idaho and Todd B. MILLERSBURG - Kari Renae Glick, four days old, of Millersburg, died at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in the NICU unit at Dupont Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born July 27, 2012, to Richard and Richelle (Miller) Glick at Dupont Hospital.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, are two brothers, Ryan Devon and Jared Lynn Glick; grandparents LaVerda Miller of Ligonier and Freeman and Nettie Glick of Shipshewana; great-grandparents Mary Miller of Topeka, Elva and Martha Miller of Ligonier and Mattie Glick of Wolcottville.
She was preceded in death by grandfather Merle Miller.

Charles operated a farm in Lime Valley, near Strasburg, for many years.
He was a Minister for the Strasburg Mennonite Church and served as the Bishop for the Willow Street-Strasburg District.
Charles was a founding Board member of Landis Homes, where he resided since 1998. He also served on the Board of the Mennonite Historical Society.
Born in Brecknock Township, he was the son of the late Howard Z. and Lydia (Hurst) Good. PALMYRA Pastor Harvey B. Good, 83, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 24, 2012, at his home surrounded by loving family. He was born, Tuesday, February 12, 1929, in East Earl, to the late Samuel B. and Mary (Burkholder) Good. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pearl A. (Brubaker) Good.
He was previous pastor of the former New Covenant Church of Palmyra, currently Victory Christian Fellowship. He enjoyed camping, gardening, and possessed a skilled hand at carpentry. He attended Christ Community Church in Camp Hill.
He is survived by a son, Leonard Good and wife Sandra of Palmyra; a daughter, Mary Ann Ellsworth and husband Rev. Vernon of Weslaco, Texas; nine grandchildren, Tonya M. Noll, Alicia P. Deibler and husband Albert, Heidi G. Brookes, H. Brandon Good and wife Deanna, L. Brent Good and wife Jodi, Eric L. Ellsworth, Jason S. Ellsworth, Ellen J. Mathew and husband Nishant, and Charles C. Ellsworth; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul and Eli Good.

LAGRANGE - Daniel H. Graber, 91, of LaGrange, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at home.
He was born June 22, 1921, to Henry and Suzanna (Mullet) Graber in Milo, N.D. On Jan. 22, 1942, he married Katie Ann Miller in LaGrange County. She died Jan. 21, 1961. On May 31, 1962, he married Anna Borkholder in Nappanee. She survives.
Survivors include his children, Ezra (Mattie) Yoder, Henry (Mary) Yoder, Alvin (Anna) Graber, John (Miriam) Graber, Marvin (Ruby) Graber, Neal (Wilma) Graber, Alma (Joe) Bontrager, Mary (Andy) Miller and Orpha (Olen) Schrock; 66 grandchildren; 170 great-grandchildren; siblings Agnes Yoder, Albert H. Graber and Aaron (Lena) Graber; and son-in-law Eber Frye.

He was born March 28, 1929 at Crawfordsville, Iowa to Peter Paul and Magdalena (Wenger) Graber. Peter was born July 6, 1895 and died October 8 1972. Magdalena was born November 24, 1894 and died December 9, 1986.
On November 29, 1951 at Pandora, Putnam Co., Ohio he was married to Mary M. Soldner, who was born March 21, 1930 and survives.
Surviving are children, Stephen D. (and Karen Kuzmicz) Graber of Baldwin, Michigan; Peter N. (and Mary) Graber of Elkhart, Indiana; Jeanne E. (and Ross) Mielke of Atlanta, Georgia; and Julia A. Graber (Rafe Lafrance) of Gainesville, Florida; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Erwen W. Graber, Moundridge, Kansas; Lucille M. Shewmake, Dade City, Florida; Peter P. (and Wanda) Graber, Crawfordsville, Iowa; and Calvin C. (and Jean) Graber, Goshen, Indiana.
A grandson, Paul A. Mielke, sister, Verena M. Moore; brother, LaVerne L. Graber; and sister, Anna M. Martin preceded him in death.
The fifth of eight children, he was born on March 28, 1929 at his family home near Crawfordsville, Iowa, to the late Peter Paul Graber and Magdalena Wenger Graber. He attended Crawfordsville Public Schools and played in the 1946 state basketball tournament.
Dan attended Bluffton College (now Bluffton University), graduating in 1951, majoring in sociology and Bible, and married Mary M. (Marge) Soldner of Pandora, Ohio on November 29, 1951. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Following college, he attended Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Chicago, Illinois and was ordained as a minister in the General Conference Mennonite Church (now Mennonite Church USA). His years as a pastor included voluntary service with Mennonite Central Committee, a pastorate at Silver Street Mennonite Church, Goshen, Indiana, interim pastor roles with the United Methodist Church in western Michigan and Columbus Mennonite Church, Columbus, Ohio, and 10 years as director at Camp Friedenswald, Cassopolis, Michigan.
While Dan worked at Camp Friedenswald, he taught elementary school and completed a master's degree in school social work from Michigan State University. From 1970 until his retirement, he worked as a school social worker at Benton Harbor Schools, Benton Harbor, Michigan.
He loved the outdoors and was always growing something no matter where he lived. He had a landscaping business in Benton Harbor, Michigan, established and cared for numerous flower and shrubbery beds at Camp Friedenswald, served on the garden committee at their retirement village in Dade City, Florida and had multiple garden plots at Greencroft Community in Goshen.

Erna Graber died 01/11/12
Erna Graber was born in Henderson, Neb., on Nov. 10, 1917 to John K and Marie (Epp) Friesen. She passed away on Jan. 11, 2012 in Freeman, S.D., at the age of 94.
She grew up on a farm south east of Henderson and graduated from Henderson High School in 1935. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in education from Bethel College in 1943 and went on to earn her master degree of religious education from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary. Later she would earn a master's degree in special education.
Erna was baptized May 16, 1937 and became a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. She moved her membership to Salem Zion Mennonite Church when she settled in Freeman. She married Hilbert Graber on January 12, 1956. To this union were born two children: Roberta Marie and Marlene Joyce.
Education was very important to Erna. She taught in Henderson, Almena, Kan., and in Freeman. While in Freeman she taught Bible and English at Freeman Junior College and Academy, then elementary education in the Freeman Public School District. She ended her career working with children with special needs. After 37 years of teaching, she retired in 1983.
Erna became involved in many activities outside of teaching. Before she was married she served with Mennonite Central Committee in Bogota, Colombia. She taught Sunday school, participated in Women in Mission and served on the Swan Lake Board to name a few. She enjoyed her friends in the Friendly Neighbor's club.
Preceding her in death is her husband Hilbert, two brothers: Irwin Friesen and Edwin Friesen, and three sisters: Lizzie Mierau, Hilda Peters, and Edna Ratzlaff, six brothers-in-law: Gus Mierau, Gus Peters, Marvin Ratzlaff, Henry Lehmann, Walter Ortman, Neal Preheim, and three sisters-in-law: Goldie Peters, Katheryn Graber and Elta Lehmann.
Cherishing her memory are her two daughters: Roberta and husband, Jerry Linscheid, of Reedley, Calif., and Marlene Graber and husband, Scott Gesner, of LeCompton, Kan.; four grandchildren: Michael and Tyler Linscheid, Matthew and Caleb Gesner. Other relatives include: two sisters-in-law Leora Ortman and Bernita Preheim, one brother-in-law, Johnny Graber, many nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, Jan. 15 at Salem-Zion Mennonite Church with Rev. Eric Deckert officiating. Music was provided by organist Ruby Waltner and Terry Havenridge. Pallbearers were Tyler Linscheid, Caleb Gesner, Joey Graber, Kerwin Graber, Barry Preheim, Dennis Lehman and Donavon Lehman.
Interment was at Salem-Zion Mennonite Church Cemetery.

WOOSTER, Ohio - Evelyn L. Graber, 89, of Wooster, formerly of Elkhart, Ind., died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at West View Manor in Wooster.
Evelyn was born May 6, 1923, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, to the late Leslie G. and Freda M. (Bates) Scarff and married Virgil R. Graber on Aug. 13, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa. Virgil died Oct. 8, 2003.
She graduated with a bachelor of science from Goshen (Ind.) College and a master's degree in education from Indiana University. She worked as an elementary and junior high school teacher in Iowa, Ohio, Michigan and Elkhart for 20 years, retiring in 1971.
Evelyn was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church in Elkhart, the Indiana Teacher's Association and the Elkhart County Teacher's Association. She was an accomplished potter and sculptor and loved to travel with her husband, Virgil.
Surviving are a daughter, Joan L. (Jerry) Kauffman of Orrville; three sons, Dr. Donald D. (Sherrill) Graber of Cottonwood, Ariz., Dr. Thomas V. (Melissa) Graber of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Dr. Robert B. (Rose) Graber, Ph.D. of Kirksville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Engelhard of Marceline, Mo.; and two sisters-in-law, Ann F. Scarff of Wayland, Iowa, and Delores Scarff of Lake Ozark, Mo.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Raymond Scarff.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at the West View Manor Chapel in Wooster, with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating. A graveside service will be held at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 3 p.m.

MIDDLEBURY - John D. Graber, 78, of Middlebury, died Saturday evening, Dec. 1, at Cleveland (Ohio) Clinic.
He was born July 12, 1934, to the late Daniel and Katie (Hostetler) Graber in LaGrange County. On June 17, 1956, he married Betty Gingerich in LaGrange County.
Survivors include his wife; children Rhonda (Allen) Falls of Middlebury, and Jeanie (Kevin) Koch and Darryl (Crystal) Graber, both of Goshen; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one stepgrandson; one great-stepgrandson; and sisters Anna Lambright of LaGrange and Fannie Mast of Shipshewana.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Levi, Sam, Melvin, Milo and Tobe Graber, Lizzie Schrock and Ada Nisley.
He was owner-operator of Graber Well Drilling since 1983. He enjoyed coon hunting, snowmobiling and fishing.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.

MIDDLEBURY - Wilma Graber, 81, of Middlebury, died at 3:11 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Greencroft Gables Health Care, Goshen.
She was born Dec. 10, 1930, to Emanuel and Lydian (Slabaugh) Miller in Nappanee. On April 9, 1955, in Middlebury, she married Milo Graber. He died April 2, 2002.
Daughters Karen (James) Pletcher of Middlebury and Joann (Kenneth) Abbott of Bristol; son Dennis (Barbara) Graber of Plain City, Ohio; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; and sisters Irene Jones of Middlebury and Catherine (Omar) Lantz of Goshen survive.
Her parents and brothers Edward and Raymond "Jack" Miller preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker, seamstress, avid game player and loved being around friends and family.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 26, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. Pastor Gary Martin will officiate.
Burial is in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.

Thelma Gratz, 92, of Bluffton died at 10:05 pm January 12, 2012 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born May 1, 1919 in Warren, Ohio to Laura Jane Medley Dailey and John Smith Dailey. On September 5, 1943 she married Delbert Gratz and he preceded her in death on August 24, 2000.
Thelma graduated from Bluffton College where she majored in religion. She later earned a master's degree in education from Bowling Green State University. Following WWII Thelma and Delbert served as relief workers in Germany with Mennonite Central Committee, where they set up a program to feed children. Her work then turned to raising her family until she began teaching Weekday Christian Education, then second grade, at the Bluffton Schools for 20 years. Thelma was a member of First Mennonite Church. Thelma had been active in a young mothers' club, called Gab, where she established lifelong friendships. She will be remembered as an outstanding cook and flower-arranger. Always interested in family, she was the favorite babysitter for her grandchildren. Another important aspect of Thelma's life was her love of animals, in particular her cats. Most everyone who knew her could not imagine her without a cat on her lap.
Survivors include four children, Del (Susan) Gratz, of Bluffton, Donna (Norm) Gratz Huff of Mississauga, Ont., Conrad (Rachel) Gratz of Columbus, Carolyn Gratz of Bluffton and five grandchildren, Philip, Rebecca, Ashley, Alee and Daniel.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and two brothers, John and Robert Dailey.
Funeral services will begin at 11 am Monday at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Revs. Steven J. Yoder and Louise Wideman will officiate. Burial will be prior to the service in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery, Bluffton. Visitation will be from 2-5 pm Sunday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Memorial contributions may be made to First Mennonite Church or Bluffton University.

He is survived by 32 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was active in Hess Mennonite Church, now called Crossroads Community Fellowship. During the 60's, she taught a girls Sunday School class at Herr Street Mennonite Church in Harrisburg, Pa. and continued to relate to the girls throughout her life.
Surviving, in addition to her husband Paul, are her children, Jean Martin married to Mark Martin, of Sarasota, FL; David Graybill, married to Gwen Penner of Denver, CO; Marianne Ferguson, married to Kenneth Bletz of Wellsboro, PA; James Graybill, married to Beverly Graybill of Elizabethtown, PA. Grace and Paul have 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 4 brothers, Donald Herr, Harold Herr, Robert Herr, and Jay Miller; and 4 sisters, Mary Catherine Wenger, Martha Myer, Pat Eby, and Miriam.
Grace was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Lowe.
A celebration of life service was February 2, 2012 at Crossroads Community Fellowship, will then be held at Crossroads at 2 p.m. with interment service following in the Hess Mennonite Cemetery, Lititz, PA.

Marvin was involved in the Lord's work his entire adult life. He was licensed for ministry in 1961 and was ordained at Springfield Chapel Mennonite Church in Holland, OH. He worked for Christian radio stations such as WPOS FM from 1967-1978 and also at WKZM in Sarasota, FL for six years after that. During these six years he also served on the Board of Congregational Outreach of the Southeast Convention. He served as a District Minister for Mennonite Churches in Georgia and South Carolina after that. In 2000 He returned to Ohio to retire.
Memorial services were held July 12, 2012 at West Clinton Mennonite Church, Wauseon, OH.

EPHRATA Laura H. Groff, 71, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in the Lancaster General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Richard Dreibelbis who passed away in 2002 and the late J. Martin Groff who passed away in 2010. She was born in Earl Township on May 12, 1941, a daughter of the late Henry M. and Emma H. Horst Martin. She was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.

She was born February 5, 1923 at Freeman, SD to Joe K. and Julie (Schrag) Kleinsasser. Joe was born January 23, 1897 and died September 6, 1976. Julie was born July 16, 1902 and died (no date given).
On December 21, 1974 at Freeman she was married to Erwin R. Gross, who was born February 17, 1922 and died December 19, 2006.
Surviving are, daughter: Vera (Neil) Heiman; sons: LaVern; Errol (Maria); daughter-in-law: Diane Walter; step sons: Don (Pat) Gross; Harley (Diane) Gross, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sisters: Mary Wollman; Sarah Stahl; Bertha (Eldon) Hofer; Joann (William) Stahl; Ruby (Gary) Hughes; brother: Amos (Kathryn Kleinsasser; sister-in-law: LaVonne (Duane) Schrag) and brother-in-law: Elmer (Judy) Gross.
Her first husband, Ernest F. Walter who passed away November 28, 1973, a son, Derrick Walter, a step-grandson: Marcus Don Gross; a brother: Silas Kleinsasser; and sisters: Kathryn Graber and Fern Kaufman; brothers-in-law: Solomon Wollman, Eli Stahl, Jake Gross & Clyde Kaufman preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held June 12, 2012 at Hutterthal Mennonite Church, Freeman, SD with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

She was born July 26, 1920 at Freeman, SD to Jacob F. and Sarah (Hofer) Walter. Jacob was born October 30, 1882 and died July 9, 1976. Sarah was born October 24, 1885 and died February 28, 1980.
On September 24, 1946 at Onida, SD she was married to Joe A. Gross, who was born November 12, 1920 and died November 19, 2010.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Weber; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Gross; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Sherwin, a son-in-law, Ken Weber, five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held August 8, 2012 at Hutterthal Mennonite Church, Freeman, SD with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Melita also leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Gordon (Karen) of Duchess, Albert (Susan) of Brooks, and Tom (Joanne) of Duchess; nine grandchildren, Shane (Cindy) Grove, B.J. (Roxy) Grove, Janna (Jeff) Hickey, Daryl Grove, Trevor Grove, Joe (Connie) Grove, Karla Chase, Chase (Amanda) Lantz, Destinee (Thomas) Hutson; seventeen great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Esther) Friesen; five sisters, Elizabeth Hansen, Neta Broadfoot, Anita Dyck, Annie (Lyle) Roth, and Martha Derbecker; one son-in-law, Steve (Cheryl) Lantz of Iva, South Carolina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Melita was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Justina Friesen; one son, Joe Grove; one daughter, Debra Lantz; two brothers, Jacob and Edward Friesen; and five sisters, Hedy Friesen, Tina Friesen, Helen Biehn, Susan Friesen, Esther Visser.
Funeral service was January 5th, 2012 at the Duchess Mennonite Church on with Pastor Alvin Penner and B.J. Grove co-officiating. A Private Interment will take place in the Family Plot at Duchess Cemetery.

Paul Dean Guilford, age 84, of Wauseon, Ohio and formerly of Ada, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012 at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
He was born June 19, 1927 to the late Harold W. and Leah (Williams) Guilford.
Paul is survived by his wife, Christine (Sampson) Guilford; and children, Janet (Rodney Kuntz) Ruple of Wauseon, Ohio, Deanna (Robert) Ramsdail of North Baltimore, Ohio, and Dallas (Mary Beth) Guilford of Delta, Ohio.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. on Friday, January 6, at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109, Delta, Ohio. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the North Clinton Mennonite Church, 831 W. Linfoot St., (Co Rd F) Wauseon, Ohio. Pastor Brad Faler will be officiating.
Prior to the memorial service, interment will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta, Ohio.
