Mahlon and his wife enjoyed traveling to visit their children and friends in Mexico, Haiti, Burkina Faso, Brazil and Canada. Mahlon volunteered at the Care & Share Thrift Shoppes and Meals on Wheels. He and his wife also volunteered in Florida and Alaska with SOOP.
Survived by his four daughters, Lucille Weaver of Perkasie, PA, Esther Mast & husband, Darrel of Lancaster, PA, Beth Kolb & husband, Paul of Spring City, PA, Marilyn Hanger & husband, Kirk of Alexandria, VA; his son, Timothy Cassel & wife, Cheryl of Harrisonburg, VA; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his brother, Gerald Cassel & wife, Shirley of Mount Pleasant, MI and his sister, Janet Gane & husband, Fred of Telford, PA;
In addition to his parents and wife, Mahlon was preceded in death by his son, James B. Cassel and his sister, Doris Parmer.

He was ordained pastor of Millersville Mennonite Church in 1962 for 15 years and then served as Bishop of the Manor District Churches for 23 years, retiring in 2000. Abe's love for the church was evident through faithful service in many different avenues of the church.
Survived by his wife Ruth and six children: Carol, wife of David Peachey of Mifflinburg, Clifford, husband of Nancy Herr of Lancaster, Sharon, wife of Richard Weaver of Lititz, Phyllis, wife of Douglas Beachy of Ohio, Brenda, wife of James Musser of Ephrata, and Rosene of Lancaster; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Roy, husband of Elsie Mellinger of Strasburg and John, husband of Blanche Mummau of Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Kreider and Elizabeth Charles.
A Funeral Service was April 22, 2013 at the Millersville Mennonite Church, Millersville, PA with the Rev. Wesley Penner and Bishop Samuel Thomas officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery.

ETNA GREEN - Carolyn Sue (Mast) Chupp, 45, of Etna Green, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at home.
She was born Dec. 23, 1967, to Marvin and Sylvia (Schmucker) Mast.
She married Merle D. Chupp on May 12, 1988.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband; sons Steven Lynn and Darrin Lamar Chupp; and three daughters, Susan Elaine, Laura Beth and Doris Ann Chupp, all at home; three brothers, Lamar Mast of Etna Green, Paul Mast of South Bend and Galen Mast of Bourbon; two sisters Linda (Floyd) Hochstetler of Nappanee and Rosemary Mast of Etna Green; and sister-in-law Anita (Miller) Mast of Nappanee.
Friends may call at the family home, 8200 W. 640 N., Etna Green, after 1 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, and all day Monday, July 8, 2013. Funeral services will take place at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Jake Beechy's home, 8611 W. 750 N., Etna Green. Bishop Walter Schwartz and the Home Ministry will officiate. Burial will follow in Graber Cemetery.

GOSHEN - Ella Mae Chupp, 90, formerly of Millersburg, passed away late Sunday night, June 23, 2013, at Greencroft Goshen Health Care.
She was born April 24, 1923, in Colon, Mich., to William and Lydia (Yoder) Hochstetler.
She married Levi M. Chupp on Nov. 24, 1945, in Denison, Iowa. He died June 9, 1999.
She is survived by four children, Sara Jean Zook of Goshen, Susie (Lynn) Kauffman of Middlebury, Sheryle (Robert) Barden of Elkhart and William Dean (Jane) Chupp of Bristol; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and twin brother Albert (Lizzie) Hochstetler of Sturgis, Mich.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Ervin, Amos, Alvin, Eli and Sylvanus Hochstetler, and three sisters, Mary Bontrager, Lizzie Lehman and Sarah Yoder.
She was an area resident since 1953. Mrs. Chupp, a homemaker, was known for her skills as a seamstress. She was a member of Clinton Brick Mennonite Church.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and again from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church. Chupp, Ella Mae Hochstetler, 90, of Goshen and formerly of Millersburg, IN died June 23, 2013, at Greencroft Goshen Health Care. GOSHEN - Ernest Chupp, 97, died Monday night, Jan. 28, 2013, at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Elkhart County to Henry and Fannie (Weirick) Chupp.
On Jan. 15, 1939, he married Elsie Miller. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Delbert L. (Janice) Chupp of Elkhart and Ron M. (MaryColette) Chupp of Jim Thorpe, Pa.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Garber; four sisters, Susie Eash, Minnie Hostetler, Mary Hershberger and Margaret Chupp; and a brother, Ora Chupp.
Mr. Chupp spent most of his life in Elkhart County, owning and operating Chupp's Garage. As a member of Gideons International, he volunteered his time in jail ministry in Goshen.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where there will be a 1 p.m. funeral service. Pastor Brian Whidden of Calvary Assembly of God will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.

Jean D. Clemmer, 90 of Souderton, went home to her Lord on Friday, January 25, 2013. She was the wife of the late Roy C. Clemmer.
Born on April 2, 1922 in Souderton, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Ellen (Delp) Godshall.
Jean was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Lansdale.
A loving mother and grandmother she is survived by her children Jonathan Clemmer (Betty) of Telford, Justine Pletcher (Ken) of Goshen, IN, Robert Clemmer of Chambersburg, Janice Kauffman (Roland) of Dalton, OH and Lisa Yoder (Gary) of Goshen, IN, 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 10-11 am on Thursday January 31, at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St. Souderton, where a funeral service will follow at 11 am in the Summit View Auditorium. Interment will be private.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eleanor (Tabb) Bohn; grandsons, Pat Conley and John Conley; two brothers and one sister.
Hazel Marie Bohn was born on October 19,1934, to Joseph and Eleanor Bohn in Manson. She was educated in Pomeroy and Manson Schools, graduating from Manson High School. Following her eduction Hazel was a secretary at National Gypsum and Globe Union. She had also worked as an aid at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge. She married Paul Conley and the couple were self-employed working side by side for over 40 years,
Hazel was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Family was the most important thing to Hazel.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Cordell Beulah Martin, 85, of Chambersburg, PA died December 24, 2013 at Waynesboro, Franklin Co., PA from a ruptured aortic abdominal aneurysm. She was born January 8, 1928 at Hagerstown Maryland to Charles and Lula (Holsinger) Martin. On May 17, 1947 at the bride's home, Reid, Maryland she was married to Bishop Merle G. Cordell, who was born July 15, 1925 and survives.
Surviving are children, Doris, Ruby {Delbert}, David {Trish}, and Richard {Sandra}; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Elsie, and Miriam {Edward}, and two brothers, Thurman {Ruth}, and Nathan.
Two brothers, Glenn, and Leonard preceded her in death.
She was noted for her Cordell flower gardens. She owned Beulah Cordell Ceramics. She also kept a daily diary for over 50 years.
Memorial services were held December 29, 2013 at Marion Mennonite Church, Marion, Franklin Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Craul, Helen M. Hess, 86, of Strasburg,PA went to be with her Lord "forever and ever" on Monday afternoon, February 18, 2013.
She was married 59 years to Gene L. Craul. Born in Conestoga Twp., she was the daughter of the late Amos H. and Mary Eshleman Hess.
Helen had worked for S. Clyde Weaver's for 28 years. She was a member of the Willow Street Mennonite Church and Sewing Circle. Helen had been a member of Farm Women Society 22 and enjoyed reading, gardening, and watching the Phillies.
Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Rachel wife of Robert Lind of Newberg, OR, Phyllis wife of Ray Brubaker of Quarryville, and Brenda wife of Mark Lausch of Lititz; a son, Kenneth husband of Nancy Stoltzfus Craul of Strasburg; 12 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and three brothers, Walter Hess of Quarryville, David husband of Betty Hess of Willow Street, and Melvin Hess of Conestoga. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Anna Ruth Hess, Ida Hostettler, Catherine Good, Suie Hammer and Grace Groff.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Willow Street Mennonite Church, 399 E. Penn Grant Road, Willow Street, PA with the Rev. Joe Sherer and Rev. James Richard Danner, 76, of New Oxford, entered into God's eternal care on Thursday, Feb. 7 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Born Jan. 6, 1937 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Richard E. and Annie E. (Ness) Danner. James was the loving husband of Dorcas M. (Reed) Danner with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
James was a member of Hanover Mennonite Church where he was a devoted minister for over 45 years and was a life-long farmer.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by four children, Gloria L. Danner of New Oxford, Glenda L. Martin and husband Timothy of Spring Grove, Michael D. Danner and wife Dorinda of Gettysburg and Merlin D. Danner and wife Rachel of New Oxford, 15 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, one brother, Walter Danner and wife Lois of Hanover, two sisters, Naomi Wolff and Elizabeth Herr, both of Hanover.
He was preceded in death by one infant sister, Ruth Danner and two brothers-in-law, John Wolff and Bradley Herr.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Calvary Bible Church located at 603 Wilson Avenue, Hanover. Burial will be in York Road Cemetery, Hanover. MILLERSBURG - Marvin Lee Delagrange, 69, of Millersburg, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born July 17, 1943, in Allen County to the late John C. and Irene Mae (Leichty) Delagrange. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Joseph Delagrange. On Oct. 18, 1969, at Emma Mennonite Church, he married Linda C. Tyson.
His wife; daughters Gayle Delagrange of Millersburg and Amber (Eric) Troyer of LaGrange; grandchildren Cheyenne Kehr and Chase Lemons; siblings Clara (Romayne) Bender and Elvin (Marlene) Delagrange of Middlebury; half-brothers Allen (Wanda) and Garold (Janet) Delagrange, both of Millersburg, and Harold Delagrange of Elkhart, survive.
His stepfather preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, and for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Thursday May 23, 2013, funeral service, all at Emma Mennonite Church, Topeka. Pastors Gene Hartman and Derrick Ramer of the church and Marvin's cousin, pastor Don Delagrange, will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury.

Ellis farmed most of his life in Gordonville. The farm is still operated by his family. He served as State Director of the PA Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He was also involved in Lancaster County 4-H, Lancaster County Extension board and served on the Leacock Township Zoning Hearing board. He was a member of Grace Point Church of Paradise. Grace Point Church was formerly Paradise Mennonite Church, where he served as an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He volunteered with Paradise Meals-On-Wheels.
Survived by four sons, Eugene husband of Barbara (Lantz) of Lititz, Wayne husband of Nikki (Beachy) of Bay Village, Ohio, Rodney husband of Cindy (Ritz) of Gordonville and Curvin husband of Kathleen (Broich) of Millersville; a daughter, Joyce wife of Roger Bascue of Eugene, Oregon; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a sister, Elizabeth Hershey of Landis Homes.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Norman, Wilmer and Harold, four sisters, Vera Mellinger, Rhoda Herr, Dorothy Martin and Mildred Denlinger.
The funeral was January 12, 2013 at Grace Point Church of Paradise with Pastor Joel Buffington officiating. Interment in Paradise Mennonite Cemetery.

SHIPSHEWANA - Jacob E. Diener, 83, of Shipshewana, died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at his residence. He had been in declining health.
He was born Aug. 1, 1930, in Arthur, Ill., to Ezra A. and Annie (Schrock) Diener. On April 5, 1956, in Topeka, he married Mattie Marie Miller.
She survives with children Karen (John) Bontrager of Shipshewana, Wanda (Gary) Lambright of LaGrange and Kevin (Norine) Diener of Shipshewana; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother Harvey (Clara) Diener of Arthur.
He was preceded in death by children LaMar, Lyle and Kathrine Diener; sister Martha Mitchell; and a stillborn grandson.
He was a senior bishop at Old Order Amish Church and had worked at Starcraft in Topeka for 27 years.
Visitation will be all day Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at the Gary Lambright residence, 7555 W. 050 N. LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, also at the Gary Lambright residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Chris Bontrager and the home ministers.
Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.

ELKHART - Grace Dudley, 60, of Elkhart, died at 12:13 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Jan. 24, 1953, in Chicago to Vernon Sr. and Josephine (Nyrda) Dudley.
She moved to Wakarusa in 1965 after her mother died. Grace was a 1971 graduate of NorthWood High School and was sixth in her class. She attended Goshen College. She served for a short time in the Peace Corps, Youngstown, Ohio.
Grace is survived by brother Vernon Dudley of Elkhart; foster sisters Thelma (Rufus) Martin of Nappanee, Ruth (Frank) Richards of Goshen, Eva (Basil) Borntreger of Lebanon, Ore., Marie (Ron) Troyer of Elkhart and Lois (Marty) Martin; and foster brothers, Melvin (Georgia) Hoover and Floyd (Esther) Hoover, both of Goshen, and William (Nancy) Hoover of Greer, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her foster parents, George and Kathryn (Schmucker) Hoover, and a foster brother, John Hoover.

GOSHEN - Anna Irene Eash, 78, passed away unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5, 2013, in her home.
She was born April 24, 1935, in Milo, N.D., to Levi and Ida (Schweitert) Shetler. In January 1958, she married Eldon "Flick" Peachey. They divorced and she later married Freeman Eash in 1987. He died later that year.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Jack) Watson of Bristol and Sally (Greg) Carpenter of Goshen; two sons, Stan (Jan) Peachey of Elkhart and Doug Peachey of Alabama; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Miriam Bontrager of Wolcottville, Lucy Yoder of Wyoming, Jean (Elva) Mast and Freeda Huser, both of Goshen, and Esther (Floyd) Stoltzfus of Pennsylvania; and nine brothers, Leroy of Missouri, Mervin (Marilyn) of Washington, Jacob (Rosa) of Millersburg, Mel (Edna) of Goshen, Dean (Bethany) of Iowa, Ora (Marilyn) Kidron of Ohio, Joe (Ellen) of Milford, Alva of Goshen and Lester (Carol) Shetler of Shipshewana.
She was preceded in death by a son, Eldon Dale Peachey, and two brothers, John Edwin and Alvin Shetler.
A longtime area resident, Mrs. Eash was a cook at the Goshen Moose Lodge and County Seat Cafe. She was a member of the Goshen DAV Women's Auxiliary.

MIDDLEBURY - Benjamin "Benji" Ross Eash, 15, of Middlebury, died at 7:30 a.m. (Central time) Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at St. Louis Children's Hospital, St. Louis.
He was born Dec. 7, 1997, in Goshen, to Allen and Cindy (Troyer) Eash. He was born with Cystic Fibrosis but was able to enjoy his first six years of life in good health. He had struggled for the past nine years with health complications and had been in rapidly declining health since May 2012.
Surviving along with his parents are three brothers, Aaron Eash of Goshen and Tyler and Cory Eash, both at home; grandparents Harley and Betty Troyer of Goshen; and grandmother, Wilma Eash of Shipshewana.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cornelius and Ruth Eash.
Benji was a freshman at Clinton Christian School, where he played on the basketball team. He was a sports fan, especially enjoying the Colts. Benji loved spending time with his family. During his hospital stays he enjoyed reading, watching ESPN and the food channel and, in his final days, being read to and sang to by his mother.

She was born July 20, 1932, in LaGrange County to Ralph A. and Edna Mae (Chupp) Stutzman.
On March 12, 1950, in LaGrange she married Chris N. Eash.
Surviving are her husband of LaGrange; sons Gary L. Eash and Steven D. (Karen) Eash of LaGrange; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Elsie McNabb and Mary Boyd, both of LaGrange; and brothers Robert Stutzman, Willis Stutzman and Don D. She was predeceased by her sons, Terry L. and Kerry D. Eash on Jan. 5, 1961, and Bruce A. Eash on Aug. 3, 1997; and brothers Ray, Ralph, Kenneth, Glenn and Dale Stutzman.

He was born Aug. 22, 1969, in LaGrange to Freeman D. and Wanetia Katie (Miller) Eash. On July 14, 2012, at his home, he married Rose A. Fry. She survives.

She was a homemaker and a member of Old Order Amish Church.
She married Eli J. Eash March 12, 1953, in LaGrange. He died March 27, 2000.

LAGRANGE - Wanetia Katie Eash, 81, of LaGrange, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
She was born March 9, 1931, in LaGrange County to Jacob J.M. and Katie D. (Christner) Miller. On Nov. 22, 1951, she married Freeman D. Eash in LaGrange County. He died on June 23, 1990.
Surviving are children Kathryn (Daniel) Hostetler of Shipshewana, Loretta Johnson of Mishawaka, Wilbur Lee Eash of Holland, Mich., Jerry W. (Mary) Eash of Wawaka, Orla F. (Elma) Eash of LaGrange, Lloyd F. Eash of Shipshewana and Homer F. (Rose) Eash of Shipshewana; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and siblings Edna Ellen Miller of Middlebury and Obie J. Miller and Amcie Miller, both of Goshen.
Preceding her in death were daughter Mary Alice Eash on March 8, 2000, three sisters and five brothers.

He was born in Mount Airy, son to the late Irvin and Edna (Weidman) Eberly.
Earl was a member of the United Zion Church. He enjoyed doing yard work and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He worked in the shipping department for Wilbur Chocolate until his retirement in 1994.
Earl is survived by his wife of 66 years, Minerva (Martin) Eberly; a son, Ernest, husband of Janet Eberly of Ephrata; a daughter, Sharon, wife of Marvin Martin of Manheim; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Mabel, wife of the late Eugene Witmer of Clay Twp., and Mamie, wife of the late Stanley Kleinfelter of Annville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, and a brother, George Eberly, and 2 sisters, Alverta Harting and Ella Moyer.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and also from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday, October 18th, at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver, with Pastor Leon Eberly officiating. Interment will take place in the Mellinger's Cemetery.

David was a farmer and school bus driver, and worked at Northside Clock Shop and Paramount Feed.
He is survived by his wife, Hettie C. (Kuhns) Ebersole; one daughter, Donna Miller and husband, Lester, of Hegins, Pa.; two sons, Richard Ebersole and wife, Lorraine, of Richland, Pa., and Jerry Ebersole and wife, Tina, of Manheim, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Arlene Miller and husband, Glenn, of Millersburg, Ohio, and Anita Kuhns of Chambersburg, Pa.; one stepson, Adrian Kuhns and wife, Martha, of Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, Leroy Ebersole of Chambersburg; one sister, Susan Ebersole of Shippensburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Eby, Ethel May, 73, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Saturday, June 8, 2013, at her home. Born Friday, December 22, 1939 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Jonas R. Eby and the late Esther L. (Sollenberger) Eby. She was employed with Sunnyway Foods in Greencastle, PA and previously was employed with Martins Food Market and Rocky Ridge Farm Market. She was a member of Mount Olive Mennonite Church in Hagerstown, MD.
She is survived by her three brothers, Jonas Eby and wife, Marie of Clear Spring, MD, William Eby and wife, Marian of Ephrata, PA, Henry Eby and wife, Miriam of Hagerstown, MD; two sisters, Susan Martin and husband, Mahlon of Greencastle, PA and Esther Martin and husband, Alvin of Hagerstown, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two infant brothers.

He enjoyed weaving rag rugs where he donated many to various Mennonite Relief Sales across the country and to the Eureka Et Cetera Shop. He enjoyed reading and photography. He was a member of the Hopedale Mennonite Church for 79 years.

SHIPSHEWANA- Amos S. Eicher, 81, died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 14, 1931, in Berne to the late John E. and Catherine (Schwartz) Eicher.
On June 27, 1954, in Bowling Green, Mo., he married Edna Miller.
Survivors include his wife; children Elizabeth "Betty" Yoder, Rosetta (Orva) Lehman, Martha (Don) Young of Bristol, Wilma Melms, Marilyn (Harlan) Yoder, Rebecca (Kermit) Hochstetler, John (Laura) Eicher of Wakarusa and Perry Eicher of Shipshewana; 34 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and sisters Anna (Edwin) Espenshade, Mary Eicher, Rosina (Daniel) Miller, Barbara Graber and Esther (Menno).
He was preceded in death by two sons, Martin and Raymond Eicher, four brothers and three sisters.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Kyle Matthew and Joas Adam Eicher, both at home; grandparents Samuel and Lydia Eicher of LaGrange and Esther Eicher of Shipshewana; and great-grandparents Ben and Margaret Eicher of Spencerville and Rachel Girod of New York.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe Eicher.
A graveside service was at Naylor Cemetery, Shipshewana. The service was conducted by Bishop Chris Bontrager of the Old Order Amish Church.

GOSHEN - Joseph M. Eigsti, 91, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 3, 2013, at Greencroft Goshen.
He was born April 27, 1922, to William and Anna (Hartzler) Eigsti, in Buda, Ill. On June 26, 1949, he married Norma "Jean" Litwiller in Morton, Ill. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2002.
He is survived by three children, Eldon (Marilyn) Eigsti of Buda, Donna (Douglas) Roth of Morton and Calvin Eigsti (Sara Swartzentruber) of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special friend Aldine Wyse; and a sister, Marion Nunemaker of Sterling, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Eigsti; and two brothers, Walter and Howard Eigsti.
He was a lifelong farmer. Mr. Eigsti was a member of Willow Springs Mennonite Church, Tiskilwa, Ill., where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and on the church board. He also served as a school board member and as a member of the Bureau County Farm Bureau Board.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Willow Springs Mennonite Church, 16621 Kentville Road, Tiskilwa, where there will be an 11 a.m. memorial service. The Rev. Cal Zehr will officiate.
A private family burial will take place in Willow Springs Mennonite Church Cemetery.

He was born April 27, 1922 at Buda, Bureau Co. IL to William and Anna (Hartzler) Eigsti. William was born December 12, 1876 and died March 19, 1949. Anna was born November 14, 1882 and died August 20, 1979.
On June 26, 1949 at Morton, IL he was married to Norma "Jean" Litwiller, who died May 2, 2002.
Surviving are children, Eldon (Marilyn) Eigsti; Donna (Douglas) Roth; and Calvin Eigsti (Sara Swartzendruber); seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a sister, Marion Nunemaker.
A daughter, Marcia Eigsti, and two brothers, Walter Eigsti and Howard Eigsti preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held September 7, 2013 at Willow Springs Mennonite Church, Tiskilwa, Bureau Co., IL with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

She worked at Timken Mercy Hospital for many years in the business field, but her true vocation was as a caregiver. Betty was on the finance committee for the original Hartville Thrift Store, she sang in the choir for the Christmas Cantata, was a faithful blood donor for the Red Cross, and loved to walk.

Esbenshade, Arlene B. Rutt, 93, formerly of Willow Street, died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Landis Homes. She was the wife of the late A. Wilmer Esbenshade, who died in 1979.
A homemaker, Arlene farmed in Willow Street with her husband.
She was a long-time member of Strasburg Mennonite Church.
She was a member of Farm Women and enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and, for the past 15 years, cutting patches for quilts donated to MCC.
Born in W. Donegal Township, she was the daughter of the late Norman L. and Mary Franck (Brubaker) Rutt. Lois Eshleman went to be with the Lord February 1, 2013.
Born near Shippensburg, PA on August 13, 1921 to her parents Lydia and J. Ira Martin, Lois lost her father in an industrial accident at the tender age of 9 months. She was raised by her mother and four older brothers: Lawrence, Aldus, Clair and Donald.
After grade school, Lois taught herself high school by borrowing books from the local library, which she read while ironing stacks of wash which she and her mother did to help support the family. After passing the high school examination, she then travelled across America to La Junta, Colorado for nursing school--all with the unfailing support of her mother.
In June 1947 she married J. Lester Eshleman, whom she had known since she was 16. While Lester finished his medical/surgical training at Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia, Lois trained to become a nurse anaesthetist at Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia.
They then left for Africa as both a husband and wife surgical team, as well as a spiritual team, with Lester as an ordained minister and Lois as a minister's wife. They began in Tanzania where they set up a surgical unit at a 100 bed hospital at Shirati mission on the shores of Lake Victoria. While there, they became parents to two children, Charlotte and Lynn.
Lois and her family returned to the States in 1966 so Lester could complete a Urological residency in Philadelphia. During the next several years, Lois faithfully shuttled the children on a 40 mile daily round trip to schools in Lancaster PA, and worked as a nurse in the surgical recovery room at Lancaster General Hospital.
In 1972 Lois and Lester left for the Congo for a 1000 bed hospital in Kinshasa, Congo's capital city. In this hospital, Lois set up a new department called Central Surgical Supply. Her work there was constantly challenged by corrupt administrators who failed to share her vision of resource conservation and economy and did their best to supply her with the most dysfunctional of employees. Despite these challenges she continued to make an enormous positive impact on the hospital's operation.
In 1979 Lois and Lester returned to Tanzania--this time to the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre located at the base of the mountain. Here, she again set up a Surgical Supply. Continuing with her theme of resource conservation, her department combined leftovers from a local T-shirt factory with old magazine pages to make absorbent bandages for the hospital, saving the hospital thousands of dollars annually. Recycling for her was not an option; it was a necessity, and gave her a chance to use her gift of creativity.
Lois and Lester retired and returned to the U.S. to Landis Homes in Lititz, PA in 1997.
Lois had a touch of magic, her fingers. Wherever her family landed, Lois would create a lovely home using whatever was available: packing crate furniture, banana bark picture frames, apple pies from papayas, and smoked ham from wild - boar--to name a few. She also had a passion for writing which she continued to share with those around her all her life. She was known as Mrs. Eshleman, Auntie Lois, Mother Lois, and Mama to many who shared nothing but a bond of love and respect, thanks to her belief in them and her encouragement to bring out their best when spirits were low or lacking.
In her final residence at Landis Homes, passersby were told to walk by her door quietly because behind that door lived a woman who was praying. When asked how she was, she would smile and reply, "Grateful!" Lois will always be remembered as a faithful believer, indeed.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Charlotte married to Amos Verberne living in Holland, and son, Lynn married to Carole Lima Eshleman living in Massachusetts.
At her request, Lois will be cremated. Her remains will join her husband's at a graveside gathering at Millwood Mennonite Church Cemetery in Gap, PA on Saturday, February 23, at 10:30 AM, followed by a memorial service the same day at Landis Homes Bethany West Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543 at 1 PM. All are welcome to attend both.

GOSHEN - John R. Fehring, 84, passed away quietly in his sleep Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Courtyard Healthcare.
He was born July 29, 1929, in St. Louis to Hans and Ethel (Campbell) Fehring.
He moved to Goshen his sophomore year of high school and graduated in 1947. He then attended business school in Fort Wayne for accounting.
John married Martha Musselman on Aug. 8, 1959, in Gettysburg, Pa. They were married for 54 years. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John (Rhonda) Fehring of Churubusco and Paul (Diane) Fehring of Jupiter, Fla; five grandchildren, James, Joel, Rachel, André and Sara Mia; and a niece, Micki Olson of Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vera Sue Pennington.
John served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He worked for Mogul Rubber Co., Independent Protection and a variety of boat and RV companies before retiring from Blue Fin, Nappanee. Following retirement, he worked in security at Hummer Corp., Mishawaka.
John served as church secretary at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, where he attended for 43 years before moving to West Goshen Church of the Brethren five years ago.
Outside of work, he enjoyed working with youth, serving as a scout master, and received the district Award of Merit in 1983.
A private funeral service was at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Pastor Norm Replogle, West Goshen Church of the Brethren, officiating.
Following the funeral, cremation took place.

Freed, Cleta S. Moyer, 76, of Harleysville, PA died August 3, 2013 at her residence. She was born August 31, 1936 in Harleysville, PA to Willis B. & Sadie (Stover) Moyer. She was the loving wife of Howard D. Freed for 57 years.
Cleta was a member of Salford Mennonite Church where she served as a past president of the Womens Fellowship (WMSC), a former assistant librarian and most recently organized luncheons.
Survived by her husband Howard and two sons, Ronald Freed & wife, Debbie of Souderton, PA, Daniel Freed & wife, Donna of Souderton, PA; a daughter, Kathy Martin & husband, Don of Lansdale, PA; nine grandchildren - Andrew, Amy, Brett, Adam, Lance, Scott, Clinton, Ryan, Krista; seven great-grandchildren - Cassidy, Sadie, Greg, Luke, Hannah, Eli, Jeff and a brother, Merrill Moyer & wife, Nancy of Souderton, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Moyer.
A funeral service was August 7, 2013 at Salford Mennonite Church Harleysville,PA. Burial was at Salford Mennonite Cemetery.

Surviving are children, Barbara (Archie) Ross, Susan Boushele, James H. (Mary) Fretz, and Joseph H. (Ann) Fretz; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Jacob M. and Stanley R. Fretz, preceded him in death.
A 1943 graduate of Bluffton University, Herb went on to study at Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, Pa.
A minister, he served at the Deep Run West Mennonite Meetinghouse near Bedminster, Pa., the Salem Mennonite Church, Freeman, S.D. and then Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Goshen from 1963 to 68. From 1968 until his retirement in 1988, Herbert worked for The Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Elkhart, as Coordinator of Church and Seminary Relations.
Memorial services were held August 17,2013 at Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN. Burial of his cremated remains will be at Deep Run West Mennonite Church Cemetery, Bedminster, PA.

Survived by his parents, two sisters, Emily and Courtney Frey, all of Millersville; maternal grandparents, Fred and Josie Petri "Poppie and Mom-Mom," of Millersville; paternal grandfather, Ray Frey, Sr., of Lancaster; maternal great grandparents, Charles and Patricia Younger, of Millersville; his faithful chocolate Lab, Alpha, as well as numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family and caring friends.

A memorial service was April 21 at 3:00 P.M. at the Cedar Grove Mennonite Church Greencastle, PA with Pastor H. Wesley Boyer officiating. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.

HAINES CITY, Fla. Susan Adele Frey, 64, of Haines City, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala.
She was born Nov. 25, 1948, to Curtis Orville and Bernice Addelee (Johnson) Smeltzer in Elkhart, Ind.
Susan is survived by her husband, Gary Lee Frey; children Tom Nunemaker, Tammy Leopold, Trina Hopsecger and Tracy Cook; stepson Scott Frey; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at
Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church, 27664 C.R. 24, Elkhart. Dr. Daniel Gelatt
will officiate. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery.

Bill was a member of the Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church where he served as a trustee for many years. He was a founding board member of the Parkview Home Board and also the Wayland Livestock Board.
Suriviors include two daughters and spouses; Evelyn (Ralph) Rubey of Stockport, Iowa, Doris (Dean) Aicher of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, one son and wife; Jim (Denise) Freyenberger of Wayland, Iowa, eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and three sisters; Myrtle Gardner of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Ruth Graber of Wayland, Iowa and Ina Mae (Orlin) Eigsti of Hesston, Kansas.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Julia, two brothers; Robert and Edward Freyenberger, one granddaughter; Teresa Lynn Rubey and one great grandson; Lucas Rodibaugh.
A celebration of life was June 9, 2013 at the Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church in rural Wayland with Pastor Larry Evers officiating. Burial will follow at the Eicher Cemetery.

LIGONIER - Orva D. Fry, 45, of Ligonier, died on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, in Tijuana, Mexico.
He was born Dec. 1, 1967, to David O. and Mattie (Yoder) Fry.
On Aug. 31, 2006, he married Ada Bontrager, who survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are three daughters, Janell, Janae and Jolene, all at home; his parents; three sisters, Edna (Daniel) Lehman and Maryann (Joe) Otto and Eileen (Henry) Eash; and seven brothers, Danny (Sue Anna) Fry, Lavern (Katherine) Fry, Orlie Fry, Melvin (Pauline) Fry, Andrew (Mary) Fry, Harvey (Vera) Fry and Freeman (Ruth) Fry.
Orva worked in the RV industry and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, and all day Thursday, Dec. 5, at the family's residence, 3834 W. 1000 N., Ligonier. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the Harvey Yoder residence, 3500 W. 1000 N., Ligonier. Bishop Miller and the home ministers will officiate.
Burial will be in Clearspring Cemetery, Topeka.
Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury.
