Sauder, David, 83, of Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH died January 5, 2020 at the same place.
He was born March 20, 1936 at Wauseon to Floyd Henry and Huldah Margaret (Baer) Sauder. Floyd was born June 1, 1910 and died December 13, 2005. Huldah was born November 19, 1910 and died December 28, 1997.
On October 10, 1959 at Wauseon he was married to Sharon Jean Nofziger, who was born November 29, 1939 and survives. Dave and Sharon celebrated 60 years of marriage in October 2019.
Surviving are children, Pamela (Wesley) Graber, David Kent (Mary) Sauder, and Anita Sauder; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a brother, James (Judy) Sauder, Indianapolis, IN.
A brother, Charles J. (Sandy) Sauder; and a sister, Marie Sauder preceded him in death.
David fell 52' from a silo in 1963, breaking his back, and spent 6 months in Parkview Hospital, Ft. Wayne. He walked with a cane from that point on, but never let his handicap limit him. He sold IH farm equipment for 18 years, then fax machines for another 18.
Memorial services were held January 10, 2020 at West Clinton Mennonite Church, Wauseon, OH.
Schertz, Agnes R. Classen
January 14, 1926 - December 6, 2020
Agnes R.C. Schertz, 94, of Goshen died Sunday, December 6, 2020 just one month after her husband of 61 years, Wayne, died. Her death was due to a combination of dementia, COVID and isolation from family, but was mostly due to a broken heart.
Agnes grew up in Kansas and lived through the Great Depression, The Dust Bowl, and the death of her mother when she was just four years old. This formed her into the scrappy, tough woman that she was. As a young adult, her eyes were opened to the world as she served with the Mennonite Church in Jordan doing refugee relief work.
She enjoyed reading, which may be why teaching children to read brought her great satisfaction. She began her 32-year teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Kansas, continued in Illinois, and then taught in Goshen Community Schools.
Agnes was happiest around her children and grandchildren, and when traveling the world with her husband.
She is survived by her children, Kahlil (Rachel) Schertz, Mona (Bill) Seaver; grandchildren: Ellie (Josh Yoder) Schertz, Isaac Schertz, Nate Seaver, Ryan Seaver; and four of her 12 siblings.
Memorials may be directed to Mennonite Central Committee for human relief work in Jordan and around the world.
Due to public health concerns, a memorial service will be held at a later date when family and friends can safely gather.
Schertz, Wayne E.
March 14, 1936 - November 8, 2020
Wayne E. Schertz, 84, of Goshen, died, Sunday, November 8, 2020, of advanced prostate cancer. He lived a good life in Christ. As a youth he loved his award winning Guernsey cow while in Future Farmers of America. His greatest life experience came as a young adult serving in the Mennonite Church PAX service with refugee relief work in Jordan. Later in life he and his wife made it to all seven continents as they both shared a love of travel.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Agnes; a son, Kahlil (Rachel) Schertz; a daughter, Mona (Bill) Seaver and four grandchildren, Ellie (Josh Yoder) Schertz, Isaac Schertz, Nate Seaver and Ryan Seaver as well as four siblings, Dale of Nappanee, Cliff, Louanne and Linda from out of state.
He will be missed. As a memorial you could say a prayer for the human rights of the Palestinians at this time in history and make a donation to Mennonite Central Committee at https://mcc.org.
A private family service will be held.
Schlabach, Dale I.
February 2, 1939 - August 3, 2020
Dale I. Schlabach, 81, of Middlebury, died Monday, August 3, 2020, at Elkhart Hospital.
He was born February 2, 1939 in Goshen to Ezra and Vivian M. (Johns) Schlabach.
On August 13, 1966 he married Vivian E. Crilow in Millersburg, Ohio.
She survives along with two children, Tami J. Schlabach of Topeka and Ricki B. Schlabach of Whites Creek, Tennessee; two sisters, Ruth Shaum and Arleta (Phillip) Kilmer, and two brothers, Dorvin D. (Ruth) Schlabach and Theron F. Schlabach, all of Goshen.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Eudean Broni and J. Richard Schlabach.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Schlabach was an active member of First Mennonite Church of Middlebury and sang with Evergreen Singers of Greencroft. He worked in maintenance at Elkhart Hospital.
Private services will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be given to Maranatha Sunday School Class at First Mennonite Church of Middlebury.
Schlabach, Ervin S.
March 3, 1926 - August 29, 2020
Ervin S. Schlabach, 94, of Shipshewana, died at 8:35 pm on Saturday, August 29, at his residence. He was born on March 3, 1926 in LaGrange to Samuel and Edna (Yoder) Schlabach. On December 5, 1946 in LaGrange County he married Fannie Troyer; she died January 26, 2011.
Surviving are four sons, Orla (Mary) Schlabach, Joas (Katie) Schlabach both of Shipshewana, Elmer (Maribeth) Schlabach of Topeka, Ervin, Jr. (Betty) Schlabach of Millersburg; six daughters, LeAnna (Daniel) Herschberger, Barbara (Noah) Beechy both of LaGrange, Susie (Vernon) Miller, Mary (LaVern) Beechy both of Shipshewana, Katie (Dan) Miller, Ruthie (DeVon) Miller both of Middlebury; daughter-in-law, Ruby (Ora) Miller of Millersburg; 60 grandchildren, 182 great grandchildren, 21 great great grandchildren; four sisters, Elizabeth (Elmer, Jr.) Bender, Edna (John) Mast, Mattie (Ira) Mullet, Katie (Felty) Fry all of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Samuel Schlabach; one grandson; two great grandchildren; four sisters; seven brothers-in-law.
Ervin was a retired farmer and member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Monday, August 31, and all day Tuesday, September 1, at the Freeman Yoder residence, 4950 W. 200 N., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Wednesday, September 2, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Harry Wayne Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.
Schlabach, Wilbur E.
December 24, 1937 - January 17, 2020
Wilbur E. Schlabach, 82, went home to be with the Lord, with his wife by his side, at 6:45 pm on Friday, January 17, at his residence in Goshen. He was born on December 24, 1937 in Lagrange County to Emanuel and Nora (Miller) Schlabach. On December 31, 1960 in Middlebury he married Fannie Bontrager, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are three sons, Steve (Becky) Schlabach of Goshen, Brian (Betty) Schlabach of Middlebury, Mark (Gretchen) Schlabach of Sharps Chapel, TN; six grandchildren; two great grandsons; four sisters, Mabel Miller of Goshen, Wilma Yoder of Middlebury, Viola Bontrager of Shipshewana, Alice (Elmer) Yoder of Millersburg; brother, Omer (Ann) Schlabach of Middlebury.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edith Kauffman and Esther Miller; and three brothers, Roman, John and Orva Schlabach.
Wilbur was a member of First Mennonite Church in Middlebury and had retired from Fidler Ready Mix after 32 years of driving truck; in his retirement he worked at Caribbean Auto Spa in Middlebury. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan who enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He had also coached softball and baseball and in retirement he went on seven mission trips, six volunteering with the Soop Program and one with Mennonite Disaster Service.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday January 20, and 1:00 - 7:00 pm Tuesday, January 21, all at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on Wednesday, January 22, at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastors Phil Yoder and Marvin Beachy. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to the church.
Schmidt, Calvin Ray
December 7, 1967 ~ October 16, 2020 (age 52)
Calvin Ray Schmidt was born to Otis & Elizabeth Toews Schmidt on December 7, 1967 in Moundridge, Kansas. He passed peacefully to his eternal reward in the early morning hours of October 16, 2020 with his family around him.
He grew to manhood in the Moundridge community. He began working for Clyde Schmidt in the carwash business. At age 15 he spent 5 years working for his uncle Herbert Schmidt in Fairview, OK. Working on the Schmidt farm were some of his best years. Later he worked for Russel Unruh on his building crew, and at the Bradbury Company in Moundridge for 3 years.
Calvin enjoyed traveling with his family to Fairview to spend time with his cousins and go fishing and taking a road trip to California to visit his sister.
During his early years of manhood, Calvin was converted. He was baptized on December 6, 1981. Living a Christian life was dear to him, though he encountered many struggles and trials. He attended a Young Men’s Preparatory Class in Copeland, KS in the year of 1990, and spent 6 months in the Voluntary Service unit in Elwood, KS in 1994. These times were a real, growing experience for him, and he made some good lifetime friendships.
On June 14, 1998 he was united in marriage to Rachel Oberholtzer in Belleville, PA. We shared the joys and sorrows of life for 22 years. To this union were born 2 sons and 2 daughters. Calvin and Rachel moved to Arthur, IL in 1999. He did various jobs for several years, then took employment with Kuhn’s Construction in 2006, working for the next 14 years. His co-workers were like family to him. He joined the Atwood Volunteer Fire Department in 2000, and thoroughly enjoyed his 20 years of service there.
After Calvin’s re-consecration to the Lord in 2006, he found Christian life more meaningful, and cherished his family with more zeal.
In 2011, our oldest son, Carl was diagnosed with cancer, beginning a difficult journey for the next 7 years for us as a family. We thank God for granting healing and restored health to Carl. Calvin endured much discomfort with various health issues most of his life. He was devastated when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and fought valiantly for 4 years.
We enjoyed many good times camping, taking road trips, and visiting various places. He enjoyed having his sons join the Fire Department with him, playing ball, stacking wood, and siding the house with them. In his low times he spent a lot of time in his shop, working on wood products and building things for each of his children and the family.
Surviving are his sorrowing wife, Rachel, two sons Carl and Jason, two daughters Shawna and Janae all of the home, brothers Robert, Eldorado, MO, and Marlin, Arthur, IL, sisters Carol and Tim Holdeman, Glenn, CA, Ruth, Arthur, IL, and Sara and Dale Wiens, Atwood, IL.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Prairie Mennonite Church, 164 East County Road 700 North, Arthur, IL. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 19, 2020 at the church. Pastor Greg Wenger and Pastor Charles Yost will officiate. Burial will be in the Prairie Mennonite Church Cemetery. The Edwards Funeral home is assisting with arrangements.
Schmidt, Elfrieda Lohrentz, 96, of North Newton, Harvey Co., KS died April 27, 2020 at the same place. She was born September 8, 1923 at Newton, Harvey Co., KS to Peter M. and Elizabeth (Dick) Lohrentz. On August 28, 1948 at Buhler, Reno Co., KS she was married to Raymond L. Schmidt, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Rosalie (Tom) Zamzow, Rosanne (Doug) Janssen, Ronda Schmidt, and Royce (Sharon) Schmidt; five grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings, Fern Regehr, Raymond Lohrentz, Mildford Lohrentz.
Memorial services will be held at Grace Hill Mennonite Church, Whitewater, Harvey Co., KS with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Schmucker, Bertha Brandenberger
September 12, 1924 - November 28, 2020
Bertha Schmucker, age 96, of Nappanee, died at 10:25 am, Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Paddock Springs, Warsaw, where she has resided since February. She was born September 12, 1924 in Elkhart County to Noah and Matilda (Yoder) Brandenberger.
Mrs. Schmucker lived her lifetime in the Elkhart County area. She was a graduate of Middlebury High School. On October 12, 1947, she married Paul Schmucker. He preceded her in death June 17, 2020.
Mrs. Schmucker was a homemaker and a former member of North Main Street Mennonite Church in Nappanee.
Surviving are her sons, Jeff Schmucker, Warsaw, Kent and Jim Schmucker, both of Nappanee; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and sister, Florence Hostetler, Goshen. She was preceded in death by a grandson Seth Schmucker; daughter-in-law, Rose Schmucker; sisters, Luella Christner, Nora Duprue, Mary Schmucker, and brother, Lloyd Brandenberger.
Family and friends may call from 3:00 – 4:30 pm, Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will begin at 4:30. Rev. Barry Curtis will officiate and burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.

January 22, 1960 - May 9, 2020
John E. Schmucker, age 60, of Nappanee, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home, Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 6:30 am. He was born January 22, 1960 in Elkhart to Earl and Mary (Miller) Schmucker.
Mr. Schmucker lived his lifetime in this area. On November 6, 1980, he married Donna Borkholder in Nappanee. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Mr. Schmucker is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Rebecca (Ben) Kurtz, Nappanee, Joas (Ruby) Schmucker, Timothy (Regina) Schmucker, both of Wakarusa, Brian (Regina) Schmucker, Bremen, Daniel (Debra) Schmucker, Nappanee; Steven (Karen) Schmucker, Milford, Mary Kay (Robert) Miller, Warsaw, Ruth Ann (Karl) Yutzy, Wakarusa, Hannah Schmucker, Nappanee; 36 grandchildren; brothers, Elmer (Katie) Schmucker, Garrett, KS, Raymond Schmucker, Irvington, KY, Howard (Lisa) Schmucker, Eugene (Mary) Schmucker, both of Bremen; and sisters, Etta (Larry) Borkholder, Milford, Dorothy (Merlin) Yoder, Nappanee, and Judy (Maynard) Hostetler, Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Janelle Renae Schmucker; brother-in-law, Merle Yoder; and sister-in-law, Fern Schmucker.

Mary N. Schmucker, 85, of Shipshewana, died at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 26, at her residence. She was born on May 27, 1934, in Lagrange County to Noah and Magdalena (Eash) Bontrager. On February 24, 1955 in Lagrange County she married David W. Schmucker, he died August 20, 2019.
Surviving are four sons, Perry Jay (Ella) Schmucker of Shipshewana, Lester Ray (Esther) Schmucker of Sturgis, MI, Vernon Dean (Sylvia) Schmucker of Leesburg, David Wayne (Doris) Schmucker of Middlebury; five daughters, Katie Irene (Floyd) Miller and Esther Kay (Daniel) Eash both of Shipshewana, Edna Ellen (Ben) Miller of Howe, Lena Fern (David) Bontrager of Colon, MI,

She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 27, and all day Friday, February 28, at the David Beechy residence, 1365 N. 500 W., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, February 29, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Harry Wayne Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Schmucker, Paul E.
November 7, 1926 - June 17, 2020
Paul E. Schmucker, age 93, of Nappanee, passed away at 12:06 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, IN. He was born November 7, 1926, near Nappanee to Daniel and Fannie (Miller) Schmucker. Paul took over the family farm at the age of 16. On October 12, 1947 he married Bertha Brandenberger in Goshen, IN. Paul formerly attended North Main Street Mennonite Church. He was a member of the Syracuse Rotary Club, and volunteered at the Open Door in Nappanee.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Schmucker, Warsaw; sons, Jeff Schmucker, Warsaw, Kent Schmucker and Jim Schmucker, both of Nappanee; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Hoover, Goshen. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Rose Schmucker; grandson, Seth Schmucker; brothers, Harley and Eli Schmucker.
Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2020 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 23rd also at the funeral home. Pastor Barry Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery. In accordance with the State of Indiana Back on Track plan, family and friends are encouraged to follow social distancing protocols.
Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee Open Door or Syracuse Rotary Club.
Schrock, David, 73, of Archbold, Fulton Co., OH died March 4, 2020 at the same place. He was born August 8, 1946 at Archbold, OH to Elmer and Alta (Roth) Schrock. He was married to Jeanne Nafziger, who survives.
Surviving are children, Jennifer (Adam) Cobb and Anna (Brett) Dowdy; and six grandchildren.
A brother, Eugene Schrock preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held at Lockport Mennonite Church, Stryker, Williams Co., OH.

David Schrock, age 73 of Archbold, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, March 4, 2020, at home with his wife at his side.
David was born August 8, 1946, the second child of seven of Elmer and Alta (Roth) Schrock of Archbold. He attended Tedrow Mennonite Church and was baptized in his youth. Tedrow was where he met his future wife, Jeanne Nafziger. They were married on December 24, 1966 and celebrated 53 years together in 2019.
David graduated from Archbold High School in 1964. He attended Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, Indiana for two years. He then went to work for Sauder Manufacturing Company in Archbold, Ohio. He took two years off to fulfill his IW alternate service in Burlington, Vermont, serving as a respiratory therapist. He returned to Archbold and had a very fulfilling career with Sauder Manufacturing for a total of 45 years, retiring in 2012.
In 1972 Dave and Jeanne bought a home in Archbold, Ohio. He enjoyed woodworking and spent many years remodeling and updating the property. He often commented, “The only things that work in a hundred year old house are the people that live in it!” His family has many fond memories of the various remodeling projects Dave undertook. They lived there for 46 years until his health required a move to Fairlawn Retirement Community.
David was a member of Lockport Mennonite Church where he served as elder and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Archbold Fire and Rescue for twenty years. He served on the village tree board for many years.
David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne, daughters, Jennifer (Adam) Cobb of Archbold and Anna (Brett) Dowdy of Maineville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Emma, Sydney, Ivan, and Garrison of Archbold and Isaac and Micah of Maineville; his brother Robert Schrock of Archbold, sisters Grace (Duane) Stutzman of Lebanon, Oregon, Barb (John) Gingerich of Topeka, Indiana, Joyce (Mike) Guinness of Sylvania, Ohio, and Sara (Dave) Knackstedt of Norwalk, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Monday at 11 AM at Lockport Mennonite Church with Pastors Steven Heatwole and Matt Weaver officiating. Interment will precede in the Pettisville Cemetery. Friends may call at Lockport Mennonite Church from 2-8 PM on Sunday. Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be given to Archbold Fire and Rescue, CHP Hospice of Archbold, or charity of choice.
Schrock, Delayna Loulda
June 30, 2017 - October 2, 2020
Delayna was born in Memphis, MO. and at 8 weeks old was the recipient of a heart transplant. With the health complications she had, she spent over half of her life in the hospital. She was a delight and a blessing to everyone that had the privilege of knowing her in her life here on earth! She will be greatly missed by many, although we rejoice that she is forever home and pain free!
She leaves behind her parents William & Dianne Schrock, and brother Donovan of Memphis, MO.

Delayna LouIda Schrock passed away Friday afternoon, 10/2, at the St. Louis Children's Hospital a St. Louis, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggest to the Schrock family for deferring the cost of the funeral expenses and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
Schrock, Dennis Reuben, 71, of Freeman, Hutchinson Co., SD died August 30, 2020 at the same place in a car accident.
He was born April 1, 1949 at Van Wert, OH to Albert D. and Mary (Edwards) Schrock. Albert was born July 7, 1917 and died February 26, 2002. Mary was born March 19, 1920 and died November 16, 1996.
On November 22, 1973 at Burr Oak, MI he was married to Marcia Diane Yoder, who was born December 1, 1952 and survives.
Surviving are children, Jennifer Garner and Jeremy (Amanda) Schrock; four grandchildren; brother, Jim (Sherri) Schrock and sister, Carol (Bob) Mauck.
A brother, Jerry Schrock preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held September 5, 2020 at Freeman Academy Campus (Pioneer Hall), Freeman, SD.
Schrock, Doris Eileen Reynolds
February 28, 1926 - November 27, 2020
Doris Eileen Schrock, 94, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at her home. She was born February 28, 1926, in Jefferson County, Illinois.
After graduating from Greenville College, Doris served as a Youth Evangelist with the Free Methodist Church for several years before marrying Allen Schrock on June 22, 1950. Following Allen's graduation from the University of North Carolina in 1952, Doris and Allen moved to Goshen, Indiana; Allen began his career as an educator, and together they built their family home where they resided happily for more than 50 years.
As long-time members of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Allen and Doris helped to establish Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen and Community Mennonite Church in South Bend. Doris was also active as a speaker and writer for the women's organizations of the Mennonite Church. Doris was a much loved Middle School English teacher in the Wa-Nee Schools for 26 years, and continued to keep in touch with many of her students over the years. Early in their retirement, Allen and Doris enjoyed a year serving international students, working with the Mennonite Central Committee near Paris, France. Allen and Doris relocated from the Goshen area to Lexington, Indiana, in 2008, to live near their youngest daughter.
Doris loved studying the Bible, memorizing Scripture, teaching Sunday School, quilting, learning French, and was always eager to read a book or play a game with her many grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was her family, by whom she will be greatly missed and most fondly remembered.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; her parents, William Clifford and Mildred Reynolds; two sisters, Betty Jo Driskill and Rebecca Ward; a son, Joseph Allen; an infant granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie Schrock and an infant great-granddaughter, Paisley Noelle Ringer.
Survivors include one brother, Don Reynolds; three sisters, Patricia Shoemaker, Judith Alamat and Roberta Baldwin; sons, David Schrock and Paul Schrock (Sally); daughters, Ruth Chupp (Greg) and Naomi Henderson (William); daughter-in-law, Ruth Hochstetler (Kevin); nineteen grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren.
Doris's life will be celebrated at a private gathering of her family. Memorial contributions may be given in Doris's name to the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church Building Fund and sent to the family or to Collins Funeral Home at 465 McClain Avenue, Scottsburg IN 47170.

Frederick E. Schrock, 81, of Goshen, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 7:30 pm, on Saturday, July 11 in Millersburg. He was born on May 21, 1939, in Goshen, to Ezra and Clara (Bontrager) Schrock. On August 26, 1967 in Laytonsville, MD he married Linda Yankey; she died October 18, 2010.
Surviving are son, Lynn (Gail) Schrock of Middlebury; daughter, Ericka (Sheldon) Troyer of Goshen; three grandchildren, Caleb Schrock, Emily Schrock, Elijah Troyer; six brothers, Lester (Louise) Schrock of Macon, MS, Ivan Schrock of Goshen, David (Rachel) Schrock of Dayton, VA, Calvin (Mary Jane) Schrock of Atmore, MS, Galen (Jeannie) Schrock of Macon, MS, Titus (Lois) Schrock of Camilla, GA.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Vernon Schrock, Glenn Schrock; two sisters, Tressie Knepp, Treva Collins.
Fred was a member of Siloam Fellowship. He was the facilities manager for 21 years at Jayco and 10 years at Carriage, from which he was semi-retired. He lived a life of service for Clinton Christian School beginning at a young age when he helped his father set the bricks in the original school building. He served on the school board and was currently working part-time in maintaining the facilities. Fred's passion was music and worshiping God through music. He was a member of the Living Faith Quartet for 50+ years and later in life the Joyful Spirit Choir. Fred loved people with a gentle spirit and had a servant's heart.
The family will hold private services conducted by Pastor Vern Hostetler. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Clinton Christian School.

Henry A. Schrock, 81, of Arthur, Illinois passed away at 9:53 A.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the HCK West Building south of Arthur, IL. Pastor Gerhard Warman and Bishop Roger Otto will officiate. Burial will be in the Otto Cemetery in Arthur, IL. Visitation will be held any time after 6:30 P.M. on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the HCK Building, and any time after 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the HCK Building. Henry was born on June 23, 1938 in at his home in east of Arthur, IL. He was a son of Alvin N. and Mary H. (Miller) Schrock.
He is survived by four siblings, Noah Schrock and his wife Sharon, Lydia Yingst and her husband Bob, Lizzie Ann Stoltzfus and Bertha Roan, one sister-in-law, Edna Schrock, twelve nephews, two nieces and a host of great-nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sisters, one brother, Adlai Schrock, one brother-in-law, Sam Stoltzfus, and one sister-in-law, Fannie Mae Schrock.
Henry was a member of the LifePointe Church in Arcola, IL.
Henry was known as Mr. Fix It. He worked at many buggy and welding shops and also at Schrock’s in Arthur. Following his retirement from Schrock’s he was a taxi driver for the Amish for many years.

H. Francis Schrock, 94 died Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Goshen Hospital of pneumonia.
He was born July 5, 1925 in Goshen to Harry J. and Hazel Marie (Mishler) Schrock.
A life long area resident, Francis was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church. Before retirement he was employed by Universal Cooperatives for 42 years as a production and plant manager. He also was a real estate broker and landlord, owning and operating Schrock Reality. Francis received a ninth-grade education and later received his G.E.D.
In retirement, he and Eloise wintered in Tucson, Arizona where he worked for Community Home Repair Projects (CHRPA).
His hobbies included buying and repairing pedal cars and tractors, antiques, and woodworking projects for children and grandchildren.
On July 14, 1946 he married Mary Jean Miller. She died January 26, 1985. He then married L. Eloise Miller Bontrager on October 25, 1986. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Larry (Kay) Schrock of Goshen; two daughters, Cheryl (Rick) Dolson of LaPorte and Kathleen (Charles) Hartzler of Middlebury; two step-daughters, Sharon (Conrad) Bontrager Kleinholz of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Pamela (Avery) Bontrager Zook of Doylestown, Ohio; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
He is also survived by a brother, Harry Schrock; four sisters, Iola Schrock, Ellen Mishler, Waneta (Wilbur) Miller, and Betti June Kauffman; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Schrock; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and first wife, Francis was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Mae Schrock, and two brothers, Marion and Merle Schrock.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. A memorial service will be conducted Friday, March 6, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Waterford Mennonite Church, Goshen.
A private graveside service will be held in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

GOSHEN - John J. Schrock Jr., 69, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, July 31, in Golden Living Center, 1001 W. Hively Avenue, where he had been a resident in the Memory Care Unit for more than four years. John was born September 20, 1950, in Plain City, Ohio to John J.L. and Amelia (Bontrager) Schrock. He was the youngest of 10 children. He never married.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Ella, Truman, Ida and Vernon.
Survivors include sisters, Ada (Vernon) Mullet of Middlebury, Esther (Jonas) King of Goshen and Pauline Miller of Goshen; brothers, LeRoy (Shirley) Schrock of Goshen and Levi Schrock of Omega, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
John attended Rosedale Bible Institute and worked as a truck driver, musician and master carpenter. In the late 1980s, he moved to Big Valley, Pennsylvania and made his home there until 2014 when he moved to northern Indiana to be closer to family after a diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer's. He recorded albums as a country singer J.T. Austin in northern Indiana in the 1980s and later as John J. Schrock, singing odes to Big Valley and the Bible, which he studied as a scholar. He was beloved in Allensville, Pennsylvania and attended Rockville Fellowship. His beautiful stonemasonry and carpentry work is still enjoyed throughout the community.
A private family service will take place. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 13, 2020 at the family residence. Burial was in the Timberview Cemetery in rural Sullivan, IL. Bishop Omer Otto officiated. The Edwards Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Laura "Pauline" (Herschberger) Schrock, 90, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020, in the residence of her daughter, Donna Jones of Shipshewana.
She was born September 17, 1930 in Elkhart County to Eli A. and Alma (Miller) Herschberger.
She was a resident of New Paris since the day of her marriage, April 1, 1950, to Erie Schrock, who passed away September 4, 2012. Pauline was a resident of Waterford Crossing Assisted Living for six years and for the past seven months had been living with her daughters.
Pauline is survived by five children, Omer (Treva) Schrock of New Paris, Linda (Mark) Martin of Nappanee, Donna (Alan) Jones of Shipshewana, John (Judy) Schrock of New Paris, Elsie (Dale) Swartzentruber of Nappanee; daughter-in-law, Barb (Ezra) Mast of Goshen; 21 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild and a sister, Mary Alice Yoder, Shipshewana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Erie; son, Dale; daughter, Rita; great-grandson, Ezekiel; parents and siblings, Ida Mae Lehman, Omer, Perry Hershberger, Fannie Kauffman and Lavina Miller.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church, Millersburg for more than 50 years. Pauline was an excellent cook and was known for her kind hospitality, her delicious pies and pan-fried chicken was enjoyed by many. She enjoyed quilting, piecing quilts and attending the church sewing circle. Pauline and Erie were poultry farmers for many years.
Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 8 from 1 p.m. until the 4 p.m. funeral service at Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church, 13483 CR 38, Goshen. Pastor Randall Riegsecker will officiate.
Burial will be private.

Raymond Schrock, 86, Goshen, died 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at his home. He was born June 28, 1933 in Wakarusa, to Roscoe & Susie (Martin) Schrock. On Nov. 11, 1954, he married Barbara M. (Shirk) Schrock and she died Nov. 16, 2019.

Ruby Schrock, 83, of Goshen, passed away at 10:25 am on Friday, March 20, at Goshen Health Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born on March 23, 1936 in Hartville, OH, to Sim and Esther (Slabaugh) Stutzman. On April 14, 1957 in Pleasant Grove Church, Goshen she married Ivan E. Schrock, he survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are three daughters, Joyce (Myron) Martin of Goshen, June (Mahlon) Stoltzfus of Gordonville, PA, Jane (Mark) Hochstetler of Middlebury; two sons, Jay (Amy) Schrock of Goshen, Jerald (Rose) Schrock of Goshen; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Thomas of OK; two brothers, Robert (Barb) Stutzman of Denver, CO, Lawrence (Elsie) Stutzman of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle, Lloyd & Edith Thomas, who raised her; grandson, Brent Stoltzfus and a brother, Jr. Stutzman.
Ruby was a homemaker and worked for Mennonite Mutual Aid for over 20 years in the mailroom. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church where she was active on the food committee and in the sewing circle. She also enjoyed crocheting, baking, cooking, cleaning and camping. She sang in the ladies choir, Harmony Singers, for many years.
Due to current national health concerns the family will be holding private funeral services. Services will be conducted by Bishop Randall Riegsecker. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Gospel Echoes.

Wilma "Jeannie" Schrock, 88, of Shipshewana, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her children at 11:10 am on Friday, November 27, at her residence. She was born on February 9, 1932 in LaGrange to Sam and Rachel (Miller) Miller. On March 22, 1953 in LaGrange she married Walter Schrock; he died January 16, 2010.
Surviving are four daughters, Roxy (Brad) Miller of Shipshewana, Wanda (Dale) Bender of Shipshewana, Debbie (Steve) McDonald of Shipshewana, Christine Frey of Cape Coral, FL; son, Kevin (Lorene) Schrock of Shipshewana; 19 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; three sisters, Willowdean Schleining of Goshen, Winifred (Aaron) Lehman of Slave Lake, Ontario, Canada and Karen (Vance) Weaver of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Matthew Miller; great granddaughter, Ellianna McDonald; brother, Wayne Miller and sister, Sharon Koelzer.
Jeannie was a homemaker and member of Shore Church, where she had been active in the sewing circle. She was co-owner and operator of both the Sturgis and Shipshewana livestock auctions for 28 years. She had volunteered at Menno Hof, Shipshewana and The Depot, Goshen. Her greatest love in life was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Due to the national pandemic, the family will be holding private funeral services that will be conducted by Pastors Carl Horner and Nic Raber. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials may be given to Rainbow Years Learning Ministry or Menno Hof.

He was preceded in death by his niece, Jennifer Dawn Chupp.

Amos L. Schwartz, 90, of Goshen, died at 4:26 pm on Tuesday, February 25 at his residence. He was born on January 17, 1930 in Berne, IN, to Peter S. and Lydia (Borntrager) Schwartz. On December 16, 1954 in Shipshewana, he married Gertie Kaufman; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two sons, Daniel (Yvonne) Schwartz of Wolcottville, David (Mary Lou) Schwartz of Goshen; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Effie Mast of Shipshewana, Ada (Ed) Yoder of Middlebury, Wilma (Jr.) Yoder of Nappanee, Saloma (Sam) Steury of Mishawaka, Rebecca (Sam) Miller of Elkhart; one brother, Sam (Rosa) Schwartz of WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Graber; brother, Jerry Schwartz; two brothers-in-law, Sam Yoder, Ora Mast; great-grandson, Lyndon Jay Schwartz. He was a farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Esther R. (Kuhns) Schwartz, age 52, of Etna Green, died at 4:18 pm, Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Goshen Hospital. She was born November 15, 1967 in Bremen to Roman L. and Martha (Plank) Kuhns. On September 15, 1989, she married Devon R. Schwartz in Bremen.
Mrs. Schwartz was a lifetime resident of this area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Lorene “Ruby” Schwartz, age 84, of Nappanee, IN, passed away at 5:45 a.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at her son’s residence after a battle with cancer. She was born April 22, 1936 in Nappanee, IN to Eli D. and Clara (Hochstetler) Stutzman. On September 12, 1963 she married Alvin O. Schwartz. He preceded her in death July 28, 1970. Lorene was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She was a homemaker and a lifelong area resident.

Alta K. (Martin) Sensenig, 74, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at her home following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Loyd Z. Sensenig, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of the late Norman B. and Mabel B. (Kurtz) Martin.
Alta was a homemaker and a member of Martindale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Loyd Lee married to Doris (Horst) Sensenig, Ephrata, Kevin Jay married to Julia (Martin) Sensenig, Ephrata; four daughters, Lorene M. married to J. Banks Musser, Denver, Cheryl M. married to Dale Lee Martin, Reinholds, Sharon M. married to James Zimmerman, Myerstown, Rosalyn M. married to Brendon Horst, Stevens; thirty-three grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren, and seven siblings; Clarence married to Kathryn (Martin) Martin, Ephrata, Carl married to Sandy (Landis) Martin, Ephrata, Raymond married to Sally (Gamber) Martin, Jonestown, Clara married to Donald Stoner, Landisville, Dorothy married to John Hoover, Blain, Arlene married to Marlin Hurst, Robesonia, Kathryn married to Lawrence Good, Womelsdorf and a brother-in-law, Harry married to Thelma (Weaver) Good, Newmanstown.She was preceded in death by four siblings, Mary Ella Good, Esther Mae Burkholder, Ellis Martin and Lloyd Martin, and a great-grandson.

Anne Rochelle Sensenig, 59, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 26, 2020. Born in Harrisonburg, VA, she was the daughter of Donald Myers Sensenig and Doris Jean Mellinger.
Anne graduated from Eastern Mennonite University. While in college, she spent a semester abroad in France, and another in Costa Rica where she learned to speak Spanish. After college, she met the love of her life, Daniel R. Erdman while abroad in Nicaragua; they lived in New Mexico where Anne worked for a legal firm helping immigrants and as an assistant librarian with Bandelier elementary school.
Anne loved books, music, singing, and playing the guitar. She was active with different choruses and "conjuntos." In 2012, Anne and Daniel moved back to Lancaster and were involved with Community Mennonite Church as well as environmental concerns. Anne worked in an employment law firm.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 30 years, Daniel Ray Erdman; her two sisters, Lynne Marie Sensenig Brubaker, Jean Louise Sensenig; her brother, Kent Allen Sensenig, husband of Jennifer Davis Sensenig; her brother-in-law, Daryl Snider; along with three nieces, Brianna Sensenig Brubaker, Amber Sensenig Brubaker and Chelsea Sensenig Brubaker.

Clayton David Sensenig, stillborn son of Brock and Brooke (Byler) Sensenig of Ephrata, was born at 36 weeks gestation on August 6, 2020 at Reading Hospital.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Harvey and Wendy Byler and David and Marilyn Sensenig. He is also survived by 7 aunts, 3 uncles, and 8 cousins.
Although Clayton’s time on earth was far too short, he was already so loved and will forever hold a piece of so many people’s hearts. He will be deeply missed until we reunite with him in Heaven.

Glenn E. Sensenig, 49, of Denver, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, on Monday, December 14, 2020, at home.
He was born in Ephrata to Mervin M. and Cora M. (Eberly) Sensenig of Denver.
He was a member of Royer Mennonite Church, Myerstown.
Glenn worked for Weavers Wood Working, Red Run.
In addition to his parents, Glenn is survived by six siblings, David, married to Edith (Neuenschwander) of Orangeville, Mervin Jr. of Ephrata, Cora, married to Roy High of Manheim, Marlin, married to Sara (Halligan) of Richland, Warren, married to Linda (Miller) of Murfreesboro, NC, and Edwin, married to Abigail (Nussbaum) of Denver; 21 nieces and nephews; and 8 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by infant sister, Lilian E. Sensenig and one great-nephew.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Richland Mennonite Church, 399 N. Race St., Richland. J. Wesley Sensenig, 44, of Holtwood, died unexpectedly from natural causes at his home on Monday, May 25, 2020.
Born in Holtwood, he was a son of Jonas and Grace Ann (Kurtz) Sensenig of Holtwood.
Wesley worked as a truck driver and more recently he drove for the plain community.
In his previous years he enjoyed camping, boating, motorcycling, and many other outdoor activities.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two sisters, Nancy, married to Glenn Brubacher of Morgantown, and Lois, married to Jerry Zimmerman of Ephrata; two brothers, Nelson, married to Lorie Sensenig of Leola, and Gerald, married to Charlene Sensenig of Holtwood; and 15 nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death is an infant sister, Cheryl.

November 16, 1929 - September 21, 2020
Keller S. Sensenig, age 90, passed to his heavenly home on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020 at Fairmount Homes. He was the husband of Roseine J. (Good) Sensenig who passed away on Aug 4, 2020.
Born in Earl Township, he was the son of the late Aaron and Mary Sensenig. Keller was honored to be God's steward, taking care of God's earth by a lifetime of farming, gardening and taking care of his orchard.
He was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church, serving his Lord & Savior with gladness. He kept the family Trucking business, "Sensenig's Wood Shavings" rolling.
Keller, with Roseine by his side, was a family man, giving his children & their families a love of the outdoors & a strong work ethic. And the grand & great-grandchildren loved his hometown rides: by train, snowmobiles, horses, sleigh, tractor & wagon. His passion was history & genealogy, especially the Martindale area, his life-long home. He was instrumental in helping to publish the history of Martindale book, "A Pleasant View". Keller, for many years, was treasurer of the Swiss Pioneer Preservation Association. He was a volunteer fireman for 50 years, deeply committed to his community. He always included family & friends in his many interests: Cross country traveling, horseback riding, camping with storytelling, and fun filled gatherings.
He is survived by 8 children & their families: Marlene (Mervin) Sauder of Mohnton, Lamar (Cheryl) Sensenig of New Holland, Eugene (Joyce) Sensenig of Denver, Gerald (Brenda) Sensenig of Stevens, Delores Sensenig (Harvey Chupp) of Narvon, Karen (Tony) Gonzalez of Denver, Jay (Glenda) Sensenig of Denver, and Christine (Martin) Franke of Lagrange, IN; 23 Grandchildren and 36 Great-Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by 5 Sensenig brothers, Lester, Clarence, Erwin, Aaron, Miles, and a sister Mary Witmer and a grandson, Randy Sensenig. The family would like to thank the staff of Fairmount Homes for going above & beyond in their support and compassion for Keller's care.

Lyman O. Sensenig, 87, of Stevens, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at home.
He was born in Kinzers to the late Noah B. and Elizabeth (Oberholtzer) Sensenig and was the husband of Edna (Martin) Sensenig with whom he shared 12 years of marriage.
He was a member of Springville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Lyman was a retired farmer and a machine press operator.
In addition to his wife, Lyman is survived by five children; Marvin L., husband of Vera (Martin) Sensenig of Farmersville, Arnold R., husband of Jane (Martin) Sensenig of Stevens, Jay Clair, husband of Susan (Shirk) Sensenig of Denver, June Marie, wife of Melvin Martin of Rockingham, VA, Darlene M., wife of Kevin Wise of Newmanstown; three step children; Alma M. Horning of Ephrata, Curvin M., husband of Rose Ann (Lehman) Horning of Ephrata, Glen M., husband of Elaine (Sensenig) Horning of Reinholds; 30 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren and a sister, Miriam O. Sensenig of Ephrata.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ada N. (Weaver) Sensenig and two sisters, Lena O. Burkholder and Naomi O. Sensenig.

Mabel H. (Zimmerman) Sensenig, 97, of Stevens, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020 at her residence.
She was born in East Earl to the late William and Sally (Horting) Zimmerman, and was the wife of the late Erwin S. Sensenig.
Mabel was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church.
She is survived by eight children, Sally A., wife of Amos R. Armet, Erwin S., Jr., husband of Jeanine Sensenig, Rose M., wife of Elmer Stoltzfus, William L., husband of Mary Jane Sensenig, Thomas L., husband of Tammy Sensenig, Donald R. husband of Sharon Sensenig, Larry J., husband of Rheta Sensenig, Nelson M., husband of Sharon Sensenig; a daughter-in-law, Carol Zell; 26 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Good and a brother, Warren Zimmerman.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James L. Sensenig; a granddaughter; two great-grandsons and seven siblings.

Richland - Mary Louise Sensenig, 48, of Richland, PA, died on Monday, November 23, 2020 in the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA. She was the wife of Eugene Sensenig. She was born in Lebanon on April 18, 1972, a daughter of Willis Z. and Alta Z. Horning Martin of Lebanon. Mary Louise was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.

Roseine J. Sensenig, age 87, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Aug. 4, 2020 at Fairmount Homes.
She was the loving wife of Keller S. Sensenig. They were anticipating the celebration of 70 years of marriage on Dec. 2nd of this year. Born in Bowmansville she was the daughter of Amos and Viola Good.
Family was everything to Roseine. She was a wonderful wife and mother and she had room in her heart and home for all children. She will be remembered for her smile and soft-spoken conversations. She spent a lifetime of gardening, farming, and traveling with Keller, family & friends. Alongside her husband, she called Martindale her home. She was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church and serving her Lord & Savior was an important part of her life. She had a heart for volunteering, giving many years of service to the Fire Co. Auxiliary and MCC Reuzit Shop. She was employed in the circulation dept. of The Shopping News for 40+ years.
A few of her many interests were reading, quilting, music, poetry, playing games with grand & great-grandchildren, cooking, baking and family gatherings.

Shank, Helen Trumbo

Helen Trumbo Shank, 95, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, at the Harman House of Woodland Park Circle VMRC.
Mrs. Shank was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Broadway, Va., and was a daughter of the late Norvell Trumbo Sr. and Sarah Meyers Trumbo.
She received Christ as her savior and was baptized at Zion Mennonite Church, Broadway Va., on Dec. 12, 1937.
Helen graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School in 1942. In January 1945, she began employment at Mennonite Publishing House, Scottdale, Pa., until returning to Eastern Mennonite College to receive a bachelor’s degree in religious education (BRE) in 1953.
Upon returning to Scottdale, she was employed in the editorial department where she was assistant to the executive editor, secretary of the editorial division and editor of a children’s paper, “Story Friends.”
She was a member of a Sunday school workshop team which traveled to a number of mid-western and western Mennonite churches.
Helen was a charter member of Kingview Mennonite Church, Scottdale, Pa. She loved music and sang in a number of music groups including a ladies quartet which made a recording. Helen went to Puerto Rico to teach English for two years.
In 1966, after being employed by the Publishing House for 20 years, Helen returned to Virginia where she was again a member of Zion Mennonite Church. On June 22, 1968, she married Stuart Aaron Shank, who passed away Nov. 21, 2018.
She taught second grade for nine years in Timberville, Va., while Stuart farmed. At this time she also cared for the needs of her mother, Sarah Trumbo and Aunt Lydia Meyers as long as they lived.
Stuart and Helen sold the farm and built a home in Park View in 1983 where they lived until moving in VMRC in 2000.
Surviving are two sisters, Thelma Shank and husband, Rowland, of Harrisonburg and Jane Alderfer and husband, Joe; and sister-in-law, Doris Trumbo, all of Harrisonburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shank was preceded in death by a brother, Norvell Trumbo Jr.
Pastor Sarah Piper will conduct a graveside service at Zion Mennonite Church at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2020.

Helen was very thankful for all these opportunities and blessings and for the many wonderful, Christian people she met and worked with over the years.

Leonard Louis Shank, Jr., 78, formerly of Harrisonburg, went to his eternal home on Oct. 16, 2020. They had recently moved to 5914 Lawyer Road, Port Republic, to be closer to their daughter, Krista Rodes and her husband, Allen, where she and other family members were able to care for him.
He was born on July 20, 1942, to Leonard Louis Shank Sr. and Beulah Mae Brady Shank. He is survived by his wife, Esther May Eberly Shank.
They were blessed with four children, Richard (Linda) Shank, Steven (Angie) Shank, Bruce Shank, and Krista (Allen) Rodes. They were also blessed with 10 grandchildren, Quentin Shank, John Shank, Katie Shank, Carson (Charlotte) Shank, Erin Shank, Kyle Shank, Erica Rodes, Lorna (Gordon) Knicely, Brady Rodes and Corina Rodes. He made many special memories with his grandchildren.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Shank. He is survived by his brother Jim (Dawn) Shank, and sister Joyce (Bob) Jellum.
Leonard was a people person and never met a stranger. He enjoyed many occupations including construction, truck driver, retiring from Shickel’s Corporation and enjoyed his time as an ICM Chaplain.
Ministers of the church will conduct a graveside service on Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, at the Bank Mennonite Church Cemetery at 11 a.m. The casket will be open one hour prior to the service.
Friends may view and sign the register book at McMullen Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. The family will not be present during this time.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are encouraged.

Norman Rhodes Shank, 93, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020, at Sentara RMH Medical Center. Mr. Shank was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late Wilmer Paul Sr. and Mary (Rhodes) Shank.
He was a lifetime dairy farmer. He was a member of Mount Clinton Mennonite Church, where he served in many capacities including helping to build the church and being a trustee of the church cemetery.
On July 20, 1949, he married the former Marie Rhodes, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Galen Shank and wife, Susan, of Harrisonburg, Lois Depoy and husband, C. Todd, of Harrisonburg and Sheldon Shank and wife, Barbara, of Hinton; two brothers, Rawley Shank and wife, Esther, and Wilmer Shank Jr. and wife, Shirley; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shank was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabellee Blosser and Gladys Harman; and a brother, Floyd Shank.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home with the family present. However, friends may visit the funeral home Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, from noon until 7 p.m.
Burial will be held privately.

Mabel (Wise) Shenk, 69, of Greenwich, Ohio passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio. She was born March 10, 1951 in Ephrata, Pennsylvania to Luke and Lydia (Horst) Wise. On June 28, 1975 she married David Shenk. He survives. She is also survived by 8 children, Judith (Earl) Sauder of New Paris, Ohio, Rebecca Shenk of Greenwich, Ohio, Faith (David) Zimmerman of Shiloh, Ohio, Jacob (Elinor) Shenk of Lake City, Minnesota, Marcus (Lorraine) Shenk of Latham, Missouri, Celina (Richard) Halteman of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, Martha (David) Halteman of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania and Mary Shenk of Lake City, Minnesota.
Also surviving are 39 grandchildren; step mother, Anna Wise; siblings, Grace (Reuben) Shirk, Lamar (Alta) Wise, Alverna (Kenneth) Martin, Leroy (Grace) Wise, Janet (Dale) Nolt, Luke Ray (Carol Jean) Wise; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her infant son, Andrew Shenk; and granddaughter, Alyssa Halteman.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the Woodlawn Mennonite Church, 6940 State Route 13, Shiloh, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Woodlawn Mennonite Church. Shenk, Mahlon H.
April 13, 1931 - September 17, 2020
Mahlon H. Shenk, 89 of Landis Homes passed on to his heavenly home Thursday evening, September 17, 2020. Mahlon was born on April 13, 1931 in Conestoga, the son of the late Samuel M. Shenk and Betty Harnish Shenk Warfel. His father, Samuel died when he was at a young age and Clarence Warfel became his "Dad" when his mother, Betty married Clarence. Mahlon was the husband of Almeda J. Myer Shenk with whom he married on January 13, 1954.
Mahlon was a dairy farmer for over 23 years in the Rawlinsville area. After farming, he worked for Show Ease Stalls as a Welder, working over 34 years for that company. He loved his Lord and was a member of River Corner Mennonite Church, Conestoga where he was Deacon for over 30 years. He and Almeda served a year in Philadelphia with the Eastern Mennonite Missions. He enjoyed volunteering with Friendship Communities and Mennonite Central Committee. After farming, gardening became Mahlon's passion, having a garden up until 2 years ago. He often grew enough for the whole neighborhood.
Mahlon always looked for the positive in others. Family and friends were so important to him.
Mahlon is survived by his wife of 66 years, Almeda; sons, David E., husband of Maryanne E. Shenk of New Providence, Ronald L., husband of Cynthia A. Shenk of Mountville and J. Edward, husband of Christine C. Shenk of Lancaster and his daughter, Beverly A., wife of Jeffrey T. Hummel of Fleetwood. Mahlon is survived by 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Amos H. husband of Joanne Warfel of Lancaster, David H., husband of Ruth Warfel of Lancaster and J. Donald, husband of Eunice Warfel of Waxhaw, NC and his sisters, Arlene H. Delp of Williamsburg, PA, Betty Jane, wife of James Delp of Staunton, VA, Anna Ruth, wife of John Groff of Lancaster and L. Elaine, wife of Thomas Stauffer of Harrisonburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn H. Shenk.

Miriam Ferne Shenk, 55, of Newburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Monday, April 13, 2020, at her home.
She was born on March 30, 1965, in Harrisonburg, VA, a daughter of the late Harold H. and Edna R. (Shantz) Shenk.
Miriam worked on the family farm and also as a housekeeper for a period of time. In her free time, she loved to entertain company at her home.
She is survived by two sisters, Reba A. Shenk of Newburg, and Elizabeth F. Weaver and husband Ammon of Lebanon; six brothers, Nathan H. Shenk and wife Betty of Utica, OH, Wilmer I. Shenk and wife Mary Kate of Dublin, GA, Dwight D. Shenk and wife Ellen of Kingston, OH, David E. Shenk and wife Mabel of Greenwich, OH, Paul R. Shenk of Myerstown, and Eldon J. Shenk and wife Esther of Lebanon; forty one nieces and nephews; numerous great and great great nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
In addition to her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley J. Shenk, and a sister-in-law, Rachael Shenk.
Her private funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at the Rowe Mennonite Church, Shippensburg. The Newburg Mennonite Church ministry will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
Shetler, Dennis Daniel
May 21, 1929 - July 12, 2020
Kalona-Dennis Daniel Shetler was born May 21, 1929, near Kalona, Iowa. The son of Jesse Ray and Anna (Hershberger) Shetler. He attended rural Evergreen School. Dennis was united in marriage to Katie Ann Miller on October 11, 1951 in Kalona. He was a lifelong farmer, he also worked for the Iowa City Recreation Department from 1961-1980. The last 29 years he has provided a taxi service for the Amish. He was a member of Sunnyside Mennonite Church and was a MDS volunteer. Dennis enjoyed camping, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, traveling, fishing, was part of the Coffee Club, he dearly loved his family and walked with God. Dennis passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the age of 91.
He is survived by his wife KatieAnn of Kalona; 6 children, Ruby (Maynard) Miller of Kalona, Darlene Raber of Shipshewana, Indiana, Delmar (Freda) Shetler of Sarasota, Florida, Susan (Keith) Miller of Millersburg, Ohio, Loren (Tanya) Shetler of Ruckersville, Virginia and Karen (Loris) Miller of Millersburg, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Alta Yutzy of Hutchinson, Kansas, Mary Jane (Edwin) Miller, Clara Shetler and Ruth Ann Shetler all of Kalona; sisters-in-law, Emma Shetler of Wellman, Penny Shetler of Rising Fawn, Georgia, Janet Shetler of Irwin, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Vernon Miller of Hutchinson, Kansas.

James M. Shirk, 38, of Denver, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at home. He was born in Ephrata to Peter B. and Naomi H. (Martin) Shirk of Denver.
He loved going to New Haven Mennonite Church where he was a member. He loved people and had many friends. Highlights in his life were swimming, 4-wheeling, going for Gator rides, his dog, and going for the mail.
In addition to his parents, James is survived by six siblings, Chester M., husband of Cheryl D. Shirk of Robesonia, Loretta M., wife of Jeff W. Mellinger of Bonner Ferry, ID, Anna M., wife of Leon J. He was a member of Millway Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference).
Joseph was a farmer.

DAYTON -- Addison Jacob Showalter, age 4, son of Matthew Jacob and Juanita Faye (Good) Showalter, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020, as a result of a farming accident.
Addison was born on Jan. 20, 2016, in Rockingham County. He was all boy at heart and his greatest enjoyment came from helping his Dad on the family farm.
In addition to his parents, Addison is survived by a sister, Alisha Nicole Showalter; grandparents, Richard and Joanne Good, Kevin and Ellen Showalter; great-grandparents, Willis and Fannie Bell Good; aunts and uncles, Lewis and Cari Good, Kevin and Anita Good, Alan and Loretta Heatwole, Phillip and Marlene Rhodes, Maynard Good, Regina Good and special friend, Jordan Showalter, Alayna Good, Shannon and Angela Showalter, Keith Showalter, Abigail Showalter, Andrew Showalter; cousins, Joy, Jamie, and Isaac Good, Dakota and Chaseton Good, Wyatt and Sierra Heatwole, Crystal and Shane Rhodes, Alex and Destiny Showalter. Allen Rhodes Showalter, 70, of Montezuma, passed peacefully Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at his home in Bridgewater. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7.
He was born in Dayton on Aug. 2, 1949, and was a son of the late Harold H. and Melva R. (Rhodes) Showalter.
Allen was a poultry farmer and farrier, who loved his family dearly. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Mennonite Church.
On March 25, 1971, he was united in marriage to Eva M. (Martin) Showalter. For 20 years she faithfully cared for him as he courageously fought Parkinson's Disease.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children, Rodney Allen Showalter and wife, Nancy, of Dayton, Gloria Dawn Wenger and husband, Eber, of Singers Glen, Cheryl Ann Hoover and husband, Neil, of Leola, Pa., Connie Sue Rhodes and husband, Bill, of Dayton, Randy Wayne Showalter and wife, Kimberly, of Mount Solon and Janessa Faye Campbell and husband, Sherwin Campbell, of Mount Solon; three sisters, Linda Nolt and husband, Leroy, of Dayton, Martha Martin and husband, Dave, of Dayton, and Wilda Wenger and husband, Sheldon, of Bridgewater and his brother, Ron Showalter and wife, Marie, of Dayton. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ethan Neil Hoover.

Daniel Paul Showalter, 5869 Thomas Spring Road, Bridgewater, passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, at his home. Mr. Showalter was born April 22, 1927, and was a son of the late Michael R. and Fannie Heatwole Showalter.
He was a farmer and a member of the Old Order Mennonite Church.
On April 30, 1952, he married Marie Elizabeth Cline, who preceded him in death July 27, 2000.
He is survived by six children, Joyce Showalter and husband, Eldon, Michael Showalter and wife, Sarah, Kathy Wenger and husband, Linden, Phyllis Wenger and husband, Allen, all of Bridgewater, Steven Showalter and wife, Stella, of Singers Glen and Duane Showalter and wife, Natalia, of Mount Solon; 27 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harry Showalter and wife, Lydia, of Dayton, Joseph “Joe” Showalter and wife, Frances, and S. Frank Showalter and wife, Cathy, of Timberville; and three sisters, Margaret Cline and husband, James, of Harrisonburg, Eunice Knicely and Fannie Bell Good and husband, Willis, all of Dayton.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Showalter is preceded in death by six brothers, Edward, Marvin, Harold, Michael, John and William “Bill” Showalter and a sister, Mary Rhodes.

Showalter, Melvin Eugene

Melvin Eugene Showalter, 95, of Broadway, died Nov. 7, 2020, at the Wenger House at VMRC in Harrisonburg. He was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Broadway, and was a son of the late Mark Cephus and Amanda Hege Showalter.
Melvin was a co-owner of Broadway Metal Works and also a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Harrisonburg Mennonite Church. He was a lifetime member of the Broadway Volunteer Fire Department and Broadway Rescue Squad. He loved working in his woodworking shop, his family enjoys many pieces of furniture he made for them. A special thank you to the staff of Wenger House, Crestwood, and Oak Lea/VMRC for the care he was given.
On April 5, 1950, he married the former Dorothy Suter, who preceded him in death on Aug. 18, 1991. On Dec. 21, 2002, he married the former Lottie Masser, who preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2017.
Melvin is survived by a son, Dale Arlin Showalter of Broadway; a daughter, Marilyn Showalter Golladay of New Market; three grandchildren, Heather Golladay Cheshire and husband, Andrew, of Broadway, Margaret (Maggie) Showalter Foster and husband, Brad, of Charlottesville and Elizabeth Anna Showalter and fiancé, Michael Finch, of Broadway; five great-grandchildren, Hu Gordon Cheshire, Cyrus Eugene Cheshire, Nathaneal James Foster, Abbey Rose Foster and Luke Stephen Foster; a brother, Mark Showalter Jr. of Broadway; and two sisters, Fannie Heatwole of Rockingham and Rhoda Wenger of Linville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mahlon Showalter and Henry Showalter; and a sister, Anna V. Showalter.
Pastor Bernie Fuska will conduct a graveside service Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Mennonite Cemetery near Broadway.

Vera Agnes Showalter, 91, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Friday, July 3, 2020, at her home. Mrs. Showalter was born Sept. 5, 1928, in Dayton and was a daughter of the late Walter Rhodes and Mary Florence (Shank) Beery.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church.
On Dec. 27, 1951, she married Daniel R. Showalter Jr., who passed away Oct. 24, 2002.
Surviving are her children, Anna Mary Hensley and husband, Lee Roy, of Dayton, Jason Showalter and wife, Ada, of Elmira, Ontario, Lucinda Martin and husband, Edwin, of Harrisonburg, and Lloyd Showalter and wife, Rachel, of Greenwood, Wis.; a daughter-in-law, Irene Showalter of New Holland, Pa.; siblings, Vada Rhodes of Dayton and Lois Good of Harrisonburg; 29 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Showalter was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Showalter and Joel Showalter; siblings, Carrie Beery, Lydia Beery and Margaret Brubaker; brothers-in-law, Reuben Rhodes, Joseph Good and Menno Brubaker; a granddaughter, Amanda Hensley; and two great-granddaughters, Aubree and Alexis Newswanger.
The ministers of the church will conduct a funeral service Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 6, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church.

Shriner, Mabel Yoder
January 31, 1924 - April 11, 2020
Mabel Shriner, 96, Elkhart, died 10:02 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2020 at her home. She was born Jan. 31, 1924 in Shipshewana to Ora E. & Orpha (Reed) Yoder. On March 28, 1948, she married Russell Devon Shriner and he died Oct. 10, 2019.
Surviving are daughters, Dianne (Terry) Hartman, Elkhart, Sally (Ronald) Drudge, Zephyrhills, Florida, Debbie (Chester) Mercer, Granger, Cindy (Gary) Miller, Bristol, 5 grandchildren, Scott Hartman, Monte (Toni) Hartman, Brad (Cheryl) Hartman, Cathy (Jeff) Heitert, Sarah (Mike) Bonebrake and 5 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brady & Marli Hartman and Abby & Emma Heitert.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Russell, siblings, Florence Frey, Ethel Yoder, Ruth Miller, Fern Ebersole and Margaret Ramer.
Mabel was a homemaker and farmers wife. She was a member of Olive Mennonite Church. Mabel loved singing, which she did in several quartets and trio with two of her daughters.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Olive (East) Cemetery. Pastor Philip Leichty will officiate. Memorial donations may be directed to Heartland Hospice and Elkhart County Humane Society. The family requests no flowers.

Shrock, Anna H. Eash

Anna H. Shrock, 92, of LaGrange, died at 12:30 pm, on Wednesday, July 1 at her residence. She was born on October 13, 1927, in LaGrange, to Harvey J. and Mary (Troyer) Eash. On October 9, 1947 in LaGrange, she married Ralph E. Shrock; he died March 30, 2013.
Surviving are six sons, Elroy (Bonnie) Shrock of Mesquite, TX, Nelson (Sara) Shrock of Berrien Springs, MI, Elmer (Christine) Shrock of Fort Wayne, Dennis (Esther) Shrock of Fulton, MO, Kenneth (Ruby) Shrock of LaGrange, Sherman (Ruth) Shrock of Hillsboro, WI; five daughters, Marietta (Harley) Lambright of Millington, MI, Helen Shaw of Union City, MI, Naomi (David) Yoder of Mio, MI, Katie Shrock of LaGrange, Sarah (Ray) Miller of Shipshewana; daughter-in-law, Betty Shrock of Goshen; 48 grandchildren, 121 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Joe B. Jr.) Miller of Shipshewana, Lettie (Willie) Bontrager of Ligonier; brother, Mervin (Anna) Eash of Shipshewana; brother-in-law, Elmer Bontrager of Shipshewana; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Calvin Shrock; son-in-law, Steven Shaw; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; six sisters, Edna Lehman, Verna Bontrager, Wilma Miller, Katie Bontrager, Elizabeth Eash, Alice Eash; six brothers, Raymond, John, Freeman, Jr., Allen and Ervin Eash.
Anna was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 3:00 pm on Thursday, July 2 and all day Friday, July 3 at the family residence, 1895 W. 200 S., LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Saturday, July 4 at the David W. Miller residence, 2030 W. 200 S., LaGrange. Services will be conducted by Bishop Eli P. Miller and the home ministers. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange.
Shunk, Sherrill Jean Cook
April 2, 1939 - December 17, 2020
Sherrill Jean Shunk, 81, of Tuscola, Illinois formerly of Villa Grove and Arthur, Illinois, passed away on Thursday morning, December 17, 2020 at Mattoon Health Care Center, Mattoon, Illinois.
Private Services will be held. Burial will be in the Camargo Cemetery, Camargo, Illinois. Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Tuscola, Illinois is handling the arrangements.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
She was born Sherrill Jean Cook on April 2, 1939, to parents Roy & Wanda Cook (Stipp) and grew up in rural Villa Grove, Illinois. Sherrill graduated from Villa Grove High School in 1957.
She married Donald “Ray” Shunk on December 1, 1962. He survives. They recently celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary.
Sherrill is also survived by her two sons, David Shunk and Seth (Kate) Shunk, and her beloved grandchildren, Madeline, Erin and Tucker Shunk, all of Villa Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roger Cook. Sherrill also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
Sherrill worked at Carle Hospital before she was married, then helped her husband on their farm. She also worked part time at the Camargo Township District Library. After Ray & Sherrill retired from farming in the early 1990’s, they relocated to Arthur, IL where they opened their store, “Our Antiques.” Sherrill was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Villa Grove, and also attended Arthur Mennonite Church after they moved to Arthur.
Memorials are suggested to the Villa Grove First Christian Church or Arthur Mennonite Church.
Siegrist, Theda J. Landis
March 31, 1931 - September 25, 2020
Theda J. Siegrist, 89, formerly of Manheim entered into rest on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Manheim Township, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Mary Witmer Landis. She was the loving wife of the late Abram B. Siegrist who died in 2002 with whom she was married 52 years. Theda was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Manheim. She enjoyed genealogy, traveling, gardening and caring for her sheep.
Surviving are three children: Timothy M. husband of Lucy J. Stauffer Siegrist of Manheim, Julia M. wife of Glenn R. Harnish of Bethel and Karen M. wife of Leland Burkholder of Thompsontown; 15 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and two sisters: Esther Lefever and Joyce Delp both of Lititz. She was preceded in death by a son, Leon Siegrist, a sister, Margie Siegrist and a brother, J. Omar Landis.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at East Petersburg Mennonite Church, 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 1:00 PM. There will be a public viewing at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. There will also be a final viewing immediately following the service. Slabach, Edna Mae Miller
June 4, 1939 - April 21, 2020
Edna Mae Slabach, 80, of Elkhart, formerly of Shipshewana, died at 2:58 pm, on Tuesday, April 21 at Woodland Manor Nursing and Rehab. She was born on June 4, 1939, in LaGrange County, to Willis and Fannie (Miller) Miller. On May 22, 1958 in Shipshewana she married Ervin Slabach, Jr; he died February 4, 1996.
Surviving are daughter, Elnora Miller of Middlebury; three sons, Edward Slabach of Shipshewana, Eugene (Sue) Slabach of Shipshewana, Ernest Slabach of Goshen; six grandchildren, Joe (Kris) Miller, Jason (Amber) Miller, Jessica (Ryan) Barth, Josh (Karen) Taylor, Jordan (Austin) Fred, Jarret (Linda) Slabach, 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ada Miller of Shipshewana, Grace Miller of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant sons, Earl and Eldon Slabach; four brothers, Orva Miller, O. Vernon Miller, Floyd Miller, Amos Miller; three sisters, Arlene Miller, Ruby Bontrager, Mary Swoveland; three infant brothers.
Edna was a homemaker and a member of Maple City Chapel. She also helped her husband and son on the dairy farm.
Due to current gathering restrictions the family will hold private services. Services will be conducted by Edna's grandson Pastor Joe Miller. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials may be given to Mountain Top Ministries.

Irene Kay Slabaugh, 56, Bremen, died at 7:38 pm, March 28, 2020 at home with her family at her side. She was a member of the Amish Church.
Irene was born October 17, 1963 to Calvin and Fannie (Mast) Yoder. On October 29, 1987, she married Lisle Slabaugh. They lived in Holy Matrimony 32 years, 5 months.
Surviving are her husband, Lisle; sons, Andrew Slabaugh (friend Amy Hochstetler), Earl (Elaine) Slabaugh, Joseph Slabaugh; daughters, Rosalie (David) Bontrager, Rebecca (Mark) Kuhns, Emily (Galen) Lehman, Ruth Slabaugh (friend Matthew Helmuth); six grandchildren; brothers, Henry Yoder, Ervin Yoder, Raymond Yoder, Lester Yoder, Calvin Yoder Jr., Weldon Yoder, Fred Yoder; and sisters, Sarah (Delbert) Chupp, Edna (John) Herz, and Erma (Gary) Troyer. She was preceded in death by twin sons, Daniel and David; brother, Chris Yoder; sister, Verna Burkholder and her parents, Calvin and Fannie Yoder.

Slabaugh, Joy J. Evashenko
May 26, 1940 - March 10, 2020
Joy J. Slabaugh, age 79, of Wakarusa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 7:12 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa. She was born May 26, 1940 in Roseburg, Oregon to Philip and Nellie Maude (Rast) Evashenko. Joy graduated from S. Eugene High School in Eugene, OR. She later received her Associates degree in Nursing. On April 22, 1962 she married Willard “Willie” Slabaugh in Eugene, OR. Joy and Willie moved to Indiana in 1962. She had worked as a Registered Nurse at Elkhart General Hospital, Nappanee Family Medical Clinic and Miller’s Merry Manor, she retired in 2005. Joy was a member of the North Main Mennonite Church, she was a former Sunday School teacher, and was involved in Women’s Activities at the church. She was active in the Church and Women’s Council, music and church choir. She adored her family, loved to read, doing family activities and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to sporting events for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Willard “Willie” Slabaugh, Wakarusa; children, Bradley Scott (Sherry Grant) Slabaugh, South Bend, Pamela Kay Slagle, Elkhart, Philip Neil (Jessica Norris) Slabaugh, Argos, Melissa Joy (John) Tener, Nappanee; grandchildren, Katelyn Slabaugh, Nicholas Slabaugh, Krista (Larry) Elkins, Tyler (Ashley Willink) Slagle, Emily (Brayden) Troxel, Amber Slabaugh, Austin (Alexis) Slabaugh, Nate Norris, Sarah Norris, Chad Ervin, Brianna Ervin, Distin (Monica) Tener, Dalton Tener, Dillan Tener; great-grandchildren, Carter Elkins, Isabelle Elkins, Beckham Willink and Sadie Jo Slagle; brother, Darrell (Debbie) Evashenko, Portland, OR.

Ronald Dale Slabaugh, age 67, of Nappanee, died November 19, 2020 at 12:35 p.m. at the home of a niece, Ernest & Esther Miller. He was born January 22, 1953 in Bremen, IN to Simon T. and Laura (Miller) Slabaugh.
Surviving is a sister, Esther (Mose) Yoder, Nappanee; brother, Fred Slabaugh, Elkhart; sister-in-law, Linda Slabaugh, Lafayette; step brothers, Ura, Perry, Floyd, and Junior Miller; step sisters, Mary Miller and Irene Slabach. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Merlin Jay Slabaugh; brother-in-law, Mose Yoder; and step sister, Gladys Miller.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2020 and all day Saturday, November 21st at Ernie Miller residence (29028 County Road 50, Nappanee). Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, November 22nd also at Ernie Miller residence. Home ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.

Slagell, Daniel, Jr.
June 7, 1928 - May 4, 2020
Daniel was born June 7, 1928, in Hydro, Oklahoma to Daniel and Jane Louise (Waters) Slagell and passed away Monday, May 4, 2020, at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro having reached the age of 91 years 10 months 27 days.
Daniel was raised north of Hydro, Oklahoma on the family farm and attended Hopewell Rural and Jabbok schools. He was in the 1W service in Pueblo, Colorado and Reedley, California where he met Josie. On March 18, 1955, Daniel married Josie Buller in Orienta, Oklahoma and made their home north of Hydro where they raised their family. Daniel farmed and ranched for 40 years before retiring in 1994. He enjoyed traveling, camping, trains, photography, grandchildren and visiting with friends and family. Memorials may be made to Peasant View Mennonite Church – Building Fund.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 65 years, Josie (Buller) Slagell of their home in Hydro; four sons, Eugene Slagell and wife, Merri of Ayr, Ontario Canada, Dwight Slagell and wife, Joanna of Hydro, Dwayne Alan Slagell and wife, Kerry of Hydro, and Byron Slagell and wife, Catherine of Bridgewater, Virginia; one daughter, Kathy Ann Thomas and husband, Devert of Hydro; one brother, Layman Slagell and wife, Dorothy of Hydro; one sister, Beulah Switzer of Hydro; two sisters-in-law, Roberta Slagell and Verdella Slagell both of Hydro; eleven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl Dean Slagell and Maxton Slagell.

Smeltzer, Sherwyn James
October 10, 1963 - May 23, 2020
Sherwyn James Smeltzer, 56, a resident of Harrisonburg, died in a motor vehicle accident on May 23, 2020. He was born in Wauseon, Ohio, on Oct. 10, 1963, and was the son of Carl L. and Margaret Rupp Smeltzer.
Sherwyn and his family lived in Kalona, Iowa, for 10 years before moving to Goshen, Ind., in 1979, where Sherwyn attended and graduated from Bethany Christian High School. He earned an Associate of Arts degree from Hesston College and graduated from Eastern Mennonite University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science with a major in accounting. He spent the first five years of his career as a tax accountant and auditor before pursuing his M.Ed. in school counseling at the University of Virginia. Sherwyn used his giftedness with children and youth in a professional capacity by working first as an elementary school counselor for eight years in Spring Lake Park, Minn., and Staunton, Va., and then as a special education teacher for 11 years in Broadway, Va. In 2015, Sherwyn’s vocational focus shifted again as he completed certified financial planner requirements and joined the financial advising staff at Park View Federal Credit Union. His varied career demonstrated a commitment to lifelong learning and an unwavering passion for helping others.
Sherwyn was a member of Park View Mennonite Church, where he served as an elder, choir member, and youth mentor. He found great meaning in these relationships and was steadfast in his faith throughout his life. He had a lifelong love of sports, especially University of Virginia basketball and football, and enjoyed inviting a friend or family member to accompany him to each game he attended. Sherwyn was an avid runner who completed eight marathons, including two Boston marathons, and numerous half marathons.
Sherwyn was known as a person of integrity, humor, and genuine relationships. He treasured time spent with his wife and daughters, whether traveling on family vacations near and far, hiking in the Shenandoah Valley on weekends, or simply sharing meaningful conversations over family dinners. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Deirdre Longacher Smeltzer; daughters, Meg Smeltzer-Miller (husband, Daniel) and Claire Smeltzer; sisters, Cathy Smeltzer Erb (husband, Ross) and Jenny Smeltzer; and father-in-law, Joseph Longacher. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Constance Longacher.

Smith, Harley K., 90, of Souderton, PA died May 7, 2020. He was born October 16, 1929 at Hilltown, PA to Leidy D. and Laura (Kratz) Smith. On September 29, 1951 he was married to Dorothy K. Landis, who was born May 15, 1932 and survives.
Surviving are children, Kenneth Lee Smith & wife Patricia; and Sylvia Miller & husband Virgil; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A sister, Miriam Derstine preceded him in death.
A burial service was held June 6, 2020 at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church Cemetery, Blooming Glen, PA.
Smoker, Esta Lois Leaman
March 2, 1932 - October 6, 2020
Esta Lois Smoker, 88, of 2475 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, October 6th, 2020 at Hospice and Community Care. She was the loving wife of the late Alvin G. Smoker who died in 2017. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Abram and Louetta Rohrer Leaman.
Mrs. Smoker operated her own bakery at Coatesville Market; worked at Plain & Fancy Bakery; Miller's Smorgasbord; Willow Valley Bakery and her last employment was at D.M. Weaver Smokehouse Shop in Kitchen Kettle. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hand in Hand Fire Company; volunteered at 10,000 Villages; Country Gifts and Thrifts; and Stumptown Mennonite Church where she was a charter member. She enjoyed being with family, and playing the marble game.
Esta Lois will be lovingly missed by: four daughters, Judy married to David Hoover, Washington Boro, Janet married to John Lehman, Lancaster, Joanne McComsey fiancée of Mervin Stoltzfus, Gap, Jean married to Jerry Temple, Cherry Hill, NJ; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren. A great-granddaughter, Cassia Olmstead and siblings, Minnie Hertzler, Rohrer and Chester Leaman preceded her in death.

Smoker, Lena Mae Stoltzfus
January 12, 1927 - February 19, 2020
Lena Mae Smoker, age 93, formerly of Parkesburg, passed away at Fairmount Homes on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. She was the wife of the late Levi B. Smoker, who passed away on April 24, 2005. She was born in Smoketown, daughter of the late Christian & Barbara Smoker Stoltzfus.
She was a member of Millwood Mennonite Church of Gap and in the past she was a member of Parkesburg Mennonite Church, where she was a member of the sewing circle. In the past Lena worked at farmers markets for John Buckwalter and Leon Yoder. She enjoyed camping, Phillies, going to Florida and most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are 4 sons: Leonard J. husband of Emma Smoker Smoker of Parkesburg, Lloyd E. husband of Sue Leaman Smoker of Leola, Gerald D. husband of Jean Whiteside Scrafford Smoker of Parkesburg, Dale L. husband of Dawn Yoder Smoker of Lancaster, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 siblings: Daniel husband of Mabel Beiler Stoltzfus of Gap, Rebecca Yoder of Ronks, Mary Jane Stoltzfus of Berlin, PA. She was preceded in death by a son Larry Lee Smoker and two brothers: Emanuel & Omar Stoltzfus.
Funeral service will take place from the Millwood Mennonite Church, 441 Amish Road, Gap, PA on Saturday, February 22nd at 11 a.m. with a viewing time from 10 a.m. until time of service. Pastor Keith Beiler will be officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
