Ada Z. Martin, 96, of Myerstown, PA, passed away in her home on Thursday, May 6, 2021. She was the wife of the late Louis E. Martin. She was born in New Holland, PA on February 7, 1925, daughter of the late David N. and Lydia Zimmerman Martin. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Mennonite Church of Weaverland Conference.
Surviving are children, Ruth Ann married to Lloyd Brubacker of Myerstown; Nora Ellen married to Leon Martin of Lebanon; Ada Mae married to Luke Hoover of Gorin, MO; Louis Earl married to Marion (Brubaker) Martin of Myerstown; Mervin Lee married to Anna Mae (Huber) Martin of Richland; Elaine married to Paul High of Ephrata; 29 grandchildren; 136 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ivan Martin of Richland; sister, Lydia Zimmerman of Rutledge, MO. She was preceded in death by son, Glenn Ray Martin, a grandchild, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters, Esther Brubaker, Anna Mary Martin, Edna Huber; brothers, Clarence Martin, David Martin and Norman Martin.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. in Weaverland Mennonite Church, 1116 Weaverland Road, East Earl, PA. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Anna M. Martin, 84, of 499 Reading Rd., East Earl, died Sunday, November 21, 2021, at her home.
She was the wife of the late Paul Z. Martin who died November 13, 2021. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late David B. and Elizabeth Martin Hoover.
Anna was a homemaker and a member of the Reidenbach Mennonite Church.
She is survived by 12 children: Lois married to Henry Reiff, East Earl, Lloyd married to Lucy Martin, East Earl, Henry married to Mary Ann Martin, East Earl, Elsie married to Irwin Nolt, East Earl, Paul married to Mary Martin, New Holland, Lawrence Martin, at home, Eugene married to Vera Martin, Elkton, KY, Phares married to Mary Ann Martin, Elkton, KY, Luke married to Dorothy Martin, East Earl, Alta married to Paul Nolt, East Earl, Nancy married to John Reiff, Lititz, and Susanne married to Elvin Leinbach, Mohnton, 81 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rufus married to Sarah Hoover, David married to Anna Hoover, and Jonas married to Anna Hoover all of New Holland; and two sisters, Lydia Martin and Lizzie married to Aaron Martin both of Denver. She was preceded in death by a son Michael, two grandchildren and siblings, Benjamin Hoover, Martha Martin and Henry Hoover.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at Reidenbach Mennonite Church with Bishop Noah G. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Anna Mary Martin, 86, of East Earl, passed away at her daughter's home in Lebanon, on Saturday, September 11, 2021.
She was the wife of the late Ira H. Martin who died in 2013. Born in Voganville, she was the daughter of the late Eli M. and Mary Z. Nolt Huber.
Anna Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving are four sons, Leroy husband of Rose Martin of Colby, WI, Lester husband of Mary Martin of Loyal, WI, Marvin husband of Rosanna Martin of Colby, WI, and Alvin husband of Sarah Martin of Unity, WI; a daughter, Ruth wife of James Hoover of Lebanon; 57 grandchildren, 124 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eli husband of Emma Huber of Narvon, and David husband of Joyce Huber of Leonardtown, MD; four sisters, Lydia Zimmerman of Goshen, IN, Katie wife of Enos Leinbach of Loysville, Emma Seibel of Columbia and Alice wife of Phares Martin of Mohnton. She was preceded in death by two sons, Paul, whose widow Martha remarried Lester O. Martin, Jr. of Fredericksburg, and Ira Lamar whose widow Gladys resides in Stratford, WI; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother, John Huber.

Martin, Arlene M. Horning
March 20, 1933 - May 1, 2021
Arlene M. Martin passed away at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital on May 1, 2021 at the age of 88 after a brief illness. She was born March 20, 1933 in East Earl. She was the daughter of Moses and Elsie Horning.
She married Lester E. Martin on February 5, 1955. Although she was a homemaker much of her life, she also held various jobs and gave time volunteering. Her love of cooking provided opportunities for her to volunteer at Mt. Airy Fire Hall banquets and work at several local restaurants. She also operated a children's clothing booth at Green Dragon. Up until her illness, she filled her hours with her passion of artistic painting.
Arlene touched the lives of many with her gift of hospitality, her artistic gift of painting and her gift of cooking and baking.
Arlene is survived by her husband and her children, Leonard (Sandy Cole), Elkview, West Virginia; LuAnn (Jay) Sensenig, Leesport; Louise (Naaman) Beiler, Gulf Breeze, Florida; Merle (Christine Gottshall), Benton; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; as well as a sister Erla (James) Martin. She was preceded in death by a brother Leon Horning and a brother Leroy Horning.
After a private graveside service, a Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 6, at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary at Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community, 210 Weaverland Valley Road, East Earl, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be given to Fairmount Home or Christian Aid Ministries.

December 16, 1937 - December 31, 2021
Arlene Z. Martin, of Leola, PA passed from this life into eternity with her Heavenly Father on December 31, 2021. She was the wife of Clarence M. Martin for over 63 years and recently celebrated her eighty-fourth birthday on December 16.
She was born in West Earl Township to the late Harvey and Lena (Weber) Zoll. She attended and was a faithful member of Groffdale Mennonite (Brick) Church all her life.
Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and found great joy in all these roles. Arlene could be found at her sewing machine almost every day creating a variety of clothing items for the sewing circle, MCC, and other organizations. She was a homemaker and also retired from Lancaster Laboratories after more than 20 years of employment.
In addition to her husband, Arlene is survived by her children, Jay, husband of Audrey (Horst) Martin, Brenda, wife of Dale Weaver, and Terry, husband of Sue (Shannon) Martin; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, whom she loved very much. Also surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Lengyel and Mabel, wife of Tom Self, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Zoll.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: sisters, Betty Jean and her husband, Lester Martin, Anna Mae and her husband Allen Redcay, and Beatrice Zoll; and brothers, John and his wife Irene Zoll, Lester Zoll; and great-grandson, Logan Garman.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Groffdale Mennonite (Brick) Church, 168 N. Groffdale Rd., Leola. An additional viewing will be held on Friday from 9 – 10 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. at the Groffdale Mennonite (Brick) Church with Pastor Tom Eshleman officiating. Arthur M. Martin, 82, formerly of Denver, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021, at Brandywine Hospital-Tower Health.
Born in Ephrata Township, Arthur was the first-born child of the late Henry S. Martin and the late Mary (Martin) Martin Eby. He is survived by two brothers, L. Eugene (Anna Wenger) Martin of Denver, Harlan (Kathryn Enfield) Martin of Ephrata; three sisters, Edith Weaver of Bowmansville, Ella Mae Martin of Ephrata, Susan (Patrick) Malin of Fairmount, GA; two brothers-in-law, Titus (Pearl Lapp, Kreider) Kurtz of Elverson, Leon Fox of Denver and sister-in-law, Gwyn Martin of Mifflintown.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Kurtz, Laura Fox; a brother, Melvin Martin and two brothers-in-law, Ezra Weaver and David Martin.
Prior to his retirement, Art was most recently employed for 25 years by his brother, Eugene, at Martin's Sawing Service. He enjoyed woodworking, visiting with family and friends, riding bike trails, and going out to eat. He attended Reamstown Church of God.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021, from 6 to 8 PM at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. Masks and social distancing will be required. Interment will be private at the Springville Mennonite Cemetery.

Martin, Betty J.
November 11, 1925 - March 20, 2021
Betty J. Martin, 95, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 11, 1925, she was adopted by John and Mina Eckenrode Martin in 1928. She grew up near Orrstown, PA and for many years lived on Scotland Avenue in Chambersburg.
Betty worked her entire adult life at the Chambersburg Hospital, earning her LPN degree in 1955. She spent her nursing career in the nursery and delivery unit helping many mothers take care of their newborn babies, retiring in 1988.
Betty was a strong and determined independent lady having survived breast cancer for 45 years. While she had no children of her own, she was "Grandma" and cherished by many. Betty was a long time member of Cedar Street Mennonite Church and loved teaching children's Sunday school and Vacation Bible School classes. She considered her highest joy building trust and relationships with the children of her church community. Betty had a profound influence on several local families in the role of "nanny" for their children, nurturing and mentoring them into adulthood. Betty enjoyed landscape painting and fine needlework. In her later years she spent many enjoyable hours with her friends around her puzzle table.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and step brother, Ambrose Patterson. She is survived and was loved by her entire cousin relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 24, 2020 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Mike Shank and Rev. Larry Lehman will officiate. Interment will follow in Rowe Mennonite Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Betty Jean Martin, 94, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at Fairmount Homes. Born in Bowmansville, she was the daughter of the late Harvey B. and Lena Weber Zoll. She was the wife of the late Lester W. Martin who died in April of 2000.
Most recently, she worked as a custodian for the Conestoga Valley School District. She was a member of Groffdale (Brick) Mennonite Church where she was a past Sunday school teacher.
She is survived by: 4 siblings, Lester married to Dorothy Zoll, Arlene married to Clarence Martin, Evelyn married to Frank Lengyel, Mabel married to Thomas Self; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Anna Mae Redcay, Beatrice Zoll; a brother, John Zoll.

November 18, 1929 - February 2, 2021
Betty R. Martin, 91, of Lititz, PA passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was the loving wife of Paul M. Martin who preceded her in death in 2019.
Betty, originally from Lampeter moved to New Holland after marrying Paul. They raised their family in the New Holland area and after 48 years moved to a condo in Lancaster, prior to living their last 13 years at Landis Homes. They were both long time members at New Holland Mennonite Church.
Betty is survived by daughters Ruthie, wife of Vernon Martin of Lititz; Janie, wife of Everett Buckwalter of Smoketown; and a son, Doug, husband of Crystal Sweigart Martin of Brownstown; and was preceded in death by daughter, Joanne, wife of Dale Buckwalter.
In addition, she was blessed to have in her life 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. One grandson preceded her in death. Betty was extremely proud to be the matriarch of this entire loving Martin family.
Betty was the daughter of Harry and Katie Neff of Strasburg. She is survived by two sisters, Marian Martin of New Holland, PA; and Evelyn Hostetter of New Holland, PA and was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Betty spent many years serving the needs of others. She was a great example of loving care to her children and grandchildren as well as many others in her life. She always had a kind word for everyone and was often referred to as "the sweetest lady".
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Landis Homes. The care, grace, and love they provided for Betty and Paul were truly a gift from God over their 13 years as residents.

Clair E. Martin, age 78, of Lititz, PA, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday April 10, 2021 at home with family around him. He was the husband of Carolyn L (Oberholtzer) Martin with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage. He was born in Clay, PA to Albert L and Mable (Eshleman) Martin.
In addition to his wife he is survived by; a son Gary N. Martin, (Sandy) a daughter Cheryl L Stephen, (Hubert) a daughter, Karen Martin (Lonnie deceased). He has 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, 3 siblings, Glenn Martin (Jean) Coudersport, PA; A. Dale Martin (Mary Ann) Lebanon, PA and Teresa Zeiset (Luke) Akron, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marian Miller (Clint deceased) and brothers, Thomas Martin and Gary Neil Martin.
He was involved as a member of Millport Mennonite Church where he served in various capacities. He was owner/operator of Parkview Garage, Inc. for more than 30 years. He served in Gideons International, Family Commission of Camp Swatara, a volunteer chaplain at Wellspan Ephrata Hospital, prison ministry and two different types of community outreach.
His God given spirit and his Irish fire have given his family many adventures over the years. He has driven through 49 states, several occasions of driving to Belize, Central America, and traveled to Taiwan, Japan and Hawaii. He loved camping and nature. His heart's desire was always in helping others to find the Lord and uplift their lives. He recently expressed that he was a blessed man and was satisfied with his life.

Clare Ezra Martin, age 83, of Goshen, died at 4:40 am, Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at his home after a brief illness. He was born April 11, 1938 in Nappanee to Ezra and Lydia (Bauman) Martin.
Mr. Martin married Rosetta Martin, September 28, 1958. He was a retired dairy Farmer and Milk hauler. Mr. Martin was a member of Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church.
Surviving is his wife, Rosetta; children, Dennis (Gloria) Martin, Wakarusa, Gene (Edith) Martin, Dwane Martin, both of Sauk Centre, MN, Kayleen (John) Zimmerman, Belgrade, MN, Diane (Arlen) Zimmerman, Cass City, MI; 31 grandchildren and 81 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Shirley Martin; 2 grandsons, Kevin and Devon Martin; and 2 great granddaughters, Kiana and Megan Martin; parents; brothers, Leonard and Roy Martin and sister, Loreen Ramer.

Barnett, MO - Clayton Eugene Martin, age 25, formerly of Greencastle, PA and currently of Barnett, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday February 27, 2021 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born in Greencastle, PA on October 2, 1995, he was the son of Stanley Earl and Kristine Ranae Eberly Martin.Clayton was working in custom farming and as a mechanic in Missouri. He was a member of the Versailles Congregation of Versailles, MO.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by nine siblings, Dennis Monroe Martin of Greencastle, PA, Annetta Ruth Martin of Denver, PA, LaRay Edgar Martin (wife Susan) of Warrensburg, MO, and Merlin Keith, Carl Duane, Juaretta Carrie, Rosalyn Mary, Catherine Elva, and Ethan Seth Martin all of Greencastle, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Angela Ranae in 2005.

David W. Martin, 67, of Port Trevorton, entered into rest Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 12, 1954, in Ephrata, a son of the late Nevin S. Martin and Mary M. (Weaver) Martin. On Dec. 25, 1975, he married the former Esther S. Martin, who survives.
David worked at Peaceful Sleepers Mattress Shop.
He was a member of Old Order Stauffer Mennonite Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Esther, are three sons and daughters-in-law, David Jr. and Shauna Martin of Mifflinburg, Leon and Ivy Dawn Martin of Port Trevorton, Elam and Julie Martin of Medine, NY; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Edith Martin of Pottstown, Julia and Terry Chism of Shamokin, Norma and Anthony Wenger of Bainbridge, Ohio, Kathryn and Patrick Martin of Port Trevorton; 18 grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Phares W. and Mary Ann Martin of Albion, Ohio, Marvin W. and Mabel Martin of New Holland, Mark W. Martin of Bainbridge, Ohio; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Rachel W. Martin of Bainbridge, Ohio, Julia W. Elam L. Martin, 88, a resident of Fairmount Homes transitioned to Heaven on Monday, October 4, 2021. He was married to Cathryn M. Good Martin for 63 years. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Amos O. and Annie G. Landis Martin.
Elam was the owner of Twin Valley Furniture in Churchtown, PA and was an expert carpet and flooring installer. He was a member of Blue Ball Mennonite Church.
Surviving besides his wife are six sons, Kenneth married to Esther Kurtz Martin of Denver, Karl married to Dolores Musser Martin of Bowmansville, Elam, Jr. married to Irene Good Martin of Stevens, LeRoy married to Anna Martin Martin of Ephrata, Ivan Ray married to Anna Mary Musser Martin of Bowmansville, and George married to Jody Weaver Martin of Port Royal; three daughters, Anna Frances of Denver, Arlene Fay married to Randy Fox of Denver, and Mary Suzanne married to Jeffrey Musser of Terre Hill; 33 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd L. Martin of Memphis, MO; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Martin of Ephrata; a brother-in-law, Martin Weaver of Denver, and a Fresh-Air daughter, Michelle Sampson of NY. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Emerson H. Martin, 79, of Akron, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Ephrata to the late Samuel M. and Frances (Hoover) Martin and was the husband of Mary W. (Martin) Martin with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Emerson was a member of Metzler Mennonite Church. During his working years, he worked for 38 years as a cabinet maker/finisher for Rutt Kitchens. He enjoyed wood working, playing the fiddle, gospel music, math, playing games and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Steve, husband of Barb (Leininger) Martin of Lititz, Deb, wife of Rick Lyon of Shiloh, OH, Marlin, husband of Heather (McGlaughlin) Martin of Akron, Pauline, wife of Raul Shul of El Salvador, Andy, husband of Deanna (Hess) Martin of State College; nine grandchildren; nine siblings, Daniel H., husband of Grace Martin, Leroy H., husband of Laura Martin,Verna, wife of Dan Hoover, Alice, wife of Wilford Beachy, Grace, wife of James High, Jay, husband of Rhoda Martin, Edith, wife of Elam Weaver, Anna Frances, wife of David Eugene Knauer and Naomi, wife of Ernest Zimmerman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Addison H. and Sam Landis Martin.
A viewing will be held Monday, June 7, 2021, from 8:30 to 10:15 am, at Metzler Mennonite Church, 515 W. Metzler Road, Ephrata, followed by his funeral service at 10:30 am, with Pastor Ryan Bomgardner officiating. Interment will take place in Metzler Mennonite Cemetery.

Emma W. (Nolt) Martin, 86, of Lewisburg, passed away at 9:54 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at the home of her daughter, Vera and Dean Stump of Richland, Pa., following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 5, 1935, in East Earl Township, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Adam B. Nolt and Ida H. (Witmer) Nolt. On Nov. 13, 1956, she married Aaron S. Martin, who preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 2011.
She was a homemaker. Emma was a member of the Vicksburg Old Order Mennonite Church.
She is survived by 10 children and their spouses, Norman N. and Ella Mae H. Martin of Lewisburg, Lester N. and Marlene Z. Martin of Mifflinburg, Aaron N. and Emma Ruth Martin of Salisbury, NC, Miriam N. and Leonard S. Shrock of Sheridan, Mich., Wilmer N. and Jane G. Esther Leah Eby Martin, 77, of Hagerstown, Md., went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 1, surrounded by her husband and children. Esther was born Nov. 21, 1943, in Hagerstown to the late Jonas R. and Esther (Sollenberger) Eby.
Left to cherish her memory: her husband of 55 years, Alvin Martin, whom she married Sept. 4, 1965; their four children: Beth Knicely (Blaine) of Harrisonburg, Va., Doug Martin (Valerie) of Hagerstown, Teresa Grigat (Ingmar) of Linville, Va., and Keith Martin (Jeanne) of Hagerstown, Md.; beloved grandchildren, Janine, Destiny, Winfred, Katie, Jacquelyn, Gordon, Erin, Natalya, Andrew, Wyatt, Karl, Benjamin, Helen, Josiah, Sophie, Sara Lynne, Robyn, Ava, Kade, Adam, Aleah, Laura Beth, Mary Jo, and Noah; four great-grandchildren; brothers, William Eby (Marian) of Ephrata, Pa., and Henry Eby (Miriam) of Hagerstown, Md.; and sister, Susan Martin (Mahlon) of Greencastle, Pa.

May 19, 1929 - August 30, 2021
Evelyn Jost Martin, 92, of Morehead City, N.C., and formerly of Virginia, passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, at the Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
A private funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at First Baptist Church in Morehead City officiated by Dr. Nate Leonard. She will be laid to rest at Weaver Mennonite Cemetery in Harrisonburg, Va. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website.
She was born May 19, 1929, in Kempsville, Va., and was the daughter of the late Simon and Naomi Yoder Tice.
Evelyn attended Eastern Mennonite High School where she received training in secretarial skills. Upon graduating she applied for a secretarial position at Mennonite Central Committee in Akron, Pa. It was there that she met Levi Jost. They became engaged, and they were married in Harrisonburg, Va., in September 1948. Later they moved to Denbigh, Va., and stayed there for seven years before purchasing a farm off Port Republic Road near Harrisonburg, Va. On the farm they raised poultry and cattle for over 40 years.
Evelyn became the assistant secretary to the President of JMU, who at the time was Dr. G. Tyler Miller. She later served as the Administrative Assistant to Winston O. Weaver at Rockingham Construction. After a brief retirement, she again worked at JMU as secretary.
She was a longtime and active member of Chicago Avenue and Harrisonburg Mennonite Church serving in many capacities including Sunday School teacher and team leader.
Evelyn was preceded in death by Levi, who died in 2013. She also was preceded in death by all her siblings: Catherine Tice, Verna Mae Miller (Phil), her twin sister, Elva Kornhaus Yoder (Stanley), and Alva Tice (Becky).
In January 2018, she married John R. Martin. They lived together at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, Va., until his death in March 2021. She then moved to Crystal Bluffs in Morehead City, N.C.
Surviving are daughters, Diane Wagner (Steve) of Lawrenceville, Va., and Annette Holler (Adrian), of Morehead City, N.C.; grandchildren, Lydia Wagner (Mike Haefele) of Portland, Maine, Kemper Wagner (Marcie) of Liberia, Africa, Adrian Holler (Ana) of Morehead City, N.C.; Aaron Holler (Celia), Raleigh, N.C.; and great- grandchildren, Noelle and Gabriella Wagner, Olin and Eugene Haefele, Reeves, and Solomon and Levi Holler.

Martin, Florence S. Horst
May 24, 1929 - April 22, 2021
Florence S. Martin passed away at Hospice and Community Care of Mount Joy on April 22, 2021 at the age of 91. She was the daughter of Milton and Anna Sensenig Horst. She attended Blue Ball Elementary School and was employed at various garment factories in her youth. Florence and Jay Lloyd Martin were married on April 17, 1954 and quietly celebrated their 67th Anniversary together. She was a member of Cambridge Mennonite Church in Honey Brook.
Jay and Florence raised their family in the Weaverland Valley. Florence managed the household and modeled a strong work ethic which was passed down to her children. She had a keen interest in feeding her family with good nutrition, and her care for all their physical needs was her way of serving those around her selflessly.
Florence was active in the community, whether her involvement as a monitor at recess when the children were in school or canvassing the neighborhood for the census. She was always interested in people and was skilled in learning about them through conversation. She welcomed her children's friends into their home, and especially enjoyed those who visited from other countries.
Jay and Florence made a cottage at Fairmount Homes their most recent home. They liked to read together and explored much of the world through books. They were always interested in the activities of their children and grandchildren, and gladly sponsored the annual family weekend retreat to the mountains. Florence and Jay passed on a legacy of integrity, gentleness, respect, and a commitment to faith and each other.
Florence is survived by her husband and her children, Brenda (Ken) Sauder, Narvon; David (Sharon Bowman) Martin, Denver; Daniel (Jerilyn Gingerich) Martin, Lititz; James (Susan Good) Martin, New Holland and Steven (Sharon Martin) Martin, New Holland; her sister, Evelyn (Lawrence) Sauder; brother-in-law, John (Marilyn) Martin, sister-in-law, Janet (Ken) Clemenich, eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her parents-in-law, Paul and Ruth Martin, her brother, Raymond (Grace) Horst, sisters, Mary (James) Clymer and Miriam Horst, and grandson, Seth Martin.
The Memorial Service is planned for Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community in East Earl, PA with visitation from 4-6 PM and Memorial Service at 6 PM. Interment will be private.

Henry S. Martin was born Feb 3, 1926, in St. Jacobs to Emerson and Barbara (Sauder) Martin and passed away peacefully at Barnswallow Place, Elmira, on Sunday, June 20, 2021.
He is dearly missed by Eileen (Diller Baker) his spouse of 12 plus years. He was predeceased by his former spouse Mary (Bauman 1928-2007) of 58 years.
Henry and Mary had seven children: Judith, Lois (John) Yutzy, Anne (Verton) Miller, Gerald (Verna), John (Ladina), Andy (Colleen) and Cam (Althea-Lisa) and two stepchildren, James (Irene) Baker and Stephen Baker. He will be missed by 22 grandchildren: Justin (Sandra) Yutzy, Jordan (Melody) Yutzy, June (Daryl) Swartzentruber, Jerald (Liana) Miller, James Miller, Caleb (Joanne) Miller, Bethany Miller, Kerry (Heidi), Devon (Julia), Shannon (Gavin) Shantz, Jessica (Rod) Bauman, Kenton (Tricia), Brianna, Janine (Jeremy) Stutzman, Jesse (Bessie), Jed (Sheri), Jerry (Amanda), Brendon, Janna, Sonya (Noah Steinmann), Tristan, Malia and two step-grandchildren, Angela (Corey) Hoffman and Laurah Baker along with 30 great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his two grandchildren Sheila Martin and Jonathan Miller.
Survived by his sister Ada (Stan) Valenta and sister-in-law Joanne Bauman.
Predeceased by his siblings and in-laws; Edwin (Almeda), Ivan (Alvina), Howard (Seleda), Sylvester (Annie), Elizabeth (Enos) Gingrich, Lovina (Norman) Brubacher, Aden (Alice), Clarence Bauman, Selina Bauman, Elias (Minerva) Bauman, Mabel Bauman, Eli Bauman and Aden Bauman.
In 2006 Henry retired and moved to Elmira. He was widely known as “Greenhouse Henry” as the owner of a greenhouse and market gardening business in St. Jacobs for some 45 years on a second-generation farm. He was organically inclined and health conscious many years before it became mainstream. For some 27 years dad was a conscientious school bus driver around the region. Dad was a founding and committed member of (Heidelberg) Countryside Mennonite Fellowship and actively involved in song leading for decades.
A drive past visitation will take place on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Countryside Mennonite Fellowship, 3745 Herrgott Rd, Hawkesville. Please remain in your vehicle and follow the directions of the attendant. A private family graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Friday, June 25, 2021. Irma K. Martin, age 81, of Rutledge, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at her residence surrounded by family.
Irma was born on July 15, 1940, in East Earl, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Phares M. and Lena B. Kurtz Huber.
On September 24, 1960 Irma married David B. Martin and to this union eleven children were born.
Irma and David left Pennsylvania and moved to Knox County, Missouri, in 1974, to farm and raise their family.
She was a Member of the Millport Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference, south of Rutledge, Missouri.
Irma is survived by eleven children, Loretta and her husband Paul Wesley Oberholtzer of Loyal, Wisconsin, Laura and her husband Nevin Martin of Memphis, Missouri, Erla and her husband John Abram Martin of Milton, Iowa, Marlene and her husband Lynnford Oberholtzer of Rutledge, Missouri, Mervin and his wife Irene Martin of Gorin, Missouri, Leonard and his wife Rhoda Martin of Memphis, Missouri, Clair and his wife Mary Joyce Martin of Gorin, Missouri, Vernon and his wife Anna Mae Martin of Rutledge, Missouri, Eleanor and her husband Earl Lamar Martin of Memphis, Missouri, David Eugene and his wife Lisa Martin of Memphis, Missouri, and Sara Ann Martin of the home in Rutledge, Missouri; seventy-nine grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren; a brother, Christian Huber of Mt. Joy, Pennsylvania; four sisters, Martha and Marian Huber both of Terre Hill, Pennsylvania, Sara Ann and Paul Weaver of Myerstown, Pennsylvania, and Laura and Enos Showalter of South Wayne, Wisconsin and three sisters-in-law, Emma Huber, Mary Huber, Esther Huber; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She was loved and will be sadly missed by her family.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband, David B. Martin; parents, Phares and Lena Huber; five brothers, Lloyd, Melvin, Phares, John David and Martin Huber; four sisters, Mary Huber, Elva Huber, Esther Weaver, and Anna Huber; two grandsons, Jeffery and Devin Martin, and a son-in-law, John David Martin.
Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at the Millport Mennonite Church, south of Rutledge, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center, South of Memphis, Missouri, on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

Isaac Z. Martin, 84, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, after a brief illness at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.
He was born in Earl Township to the late Aaron A. and Hettie W. (Zimmerman) Martin and was the husband of the late Erma S. (Martin) Martin.
He was a member of Stauffer (Pike) Mennonite Church.
Isaac was a retired farmer and former employee of Stevens Feed Mills.
Isaac is survived by six children, Eugene, husband of Marie Martin, Lamar, husband of Lizzie Martin, Glenn, husband of Grace Martin, all of Ephrata, Clair, husband of Melva Martin, Rosene, wife of Gary Stauffer, both of Port Trevorton, Vernon, husband of Treva Martin of Bluford, IL; 38 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two siblings, David Z., husband of Eva H. Martin of New Holland, Alice Z. Snyder of Ephrata.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Z. Stauffer.

Jeremy Scott Martin, 17, of Ephrata, died Wednesday, February 3, 2021 as a result of an automobile accident. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of Jeffrey W. and Janelle S. (Zimmerman) Martin, with whom he resided.
Jeremy was employed with his father in farming and masonry and was a member of South Hinkletown Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by five siblings: Emily married to Clark High, Myerstown, Sheri married to Dwight Martin, Manheim, Alysa Martin fiancée of Jordan Hoover, Dustin Martin, Rosalyn Martin, all at home, a niece Aubrey High, a special friend, Lynelle Martin, Lebanon, a paternal grandmother, Alma H. Martin, New Holland, and maternal grandparents, Paul and Arlene Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Paul Z. Martin.

Joan was born in Vineland, New Jersey, the daughter of Ella Mae (Sensenig) and the late Martin M. Hoover who passed away in October of 2008. On March 2, 1996 in Myerstown, PA she married Daryl Groff Martin. They moved to New York from Myerstown in 2008. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Keuka Lake Mennonite Church.

Joanne Virginia Martin, 82, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021. She was born July 26, 1938, in Blue Ball, Lancaster County, Pa., and was a daughter of the late Samuel J. and Ella W. Martin. The Martin family moved to Virginia in 1948.
Joanne was a faithful caregiver for her parents and she helped in various other homes with housekeeping duties.
She is survived by one sister, Eva Jane Horst of Massillon, Ohio; one brother, Clark Martin and wife, Edna, of Dayton, Va.; and nieces and nephews, Rose Anne Amstutz (Clayton) of Edinburgh, Ind., Barry Lee Horst (Marilyn) of Sauk Centre, Minn., Elwood Horst (Wilda) of North Lawrence, Ohio, Betty Grace Horst of Massillon, Ohio, Garneta Steiner (Olen) of Apple Creek, Ohio, Janice Weaver (Charlen) of Bluford, Ill., Doris Nisly (Brian) of Partridge, Kan., David Horst (Regina) of Loma, Colo., Dale Horst (Gwen) of North Lawrence, Ohio, Gloria Zimmerman (Clayton) of Wellsboro, Pa., Myrna Horst of Los Angeles, Calif., Joyce Good (Nevin) of Greentop, Mo., Galen Horst (Yalonda) of Coleman, Mich., Lois Good (Wesley) of Bellville, Ohio, Curvin Horst (Janelle) of Massillon, Ohio, Marcella Martin of Mount Solon, Va., Samuel Martin of Dayton, Va., and Dean Martin (Melinda) of Dayton Va.
In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Leonard D. Horst; and a nephew, Samuel R. Horst.
Ministers of the church will conduct a funeral service Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be taken to the home of Leon and Edith Burkholder, 4049 Lumber Mill Road, Dayton. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.

February 2, 1947 - December 16, 2021
John H. Martin, 74, of Landis Homes, formerly of Ephrata, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 16 at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital following a stroke. John was the loving husband of Joyce (Stahl) Martin, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage. Born in Lititz, he was the son of the late Luke Z. and Edna (Good) Martin.
During his working years, he was the owner of Martin Insulation & Roofing and Ephrata Self Storage. He also worked in the maintenance department at Conestoga View, from where he retired.
He was a member of Hinkletown Mennonite Church. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed genealogy and church history as well as spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Jill, wife of Steve Fox of Ephrata and Joan, wife of Shawn Garman of Lititz; six grandchildren; Lauren (Dylan) Pack, Brandon (Morgan) Garman, Heather (Jonathan) Stutzman, Katie Fox Cazillo, Shannon (Tony) Bagrowski and Abby Garman. He is also survived by six siblings, William, husband of Elizabeth (Brubaker) Martin, Eleanor Good, Harold, husband of Lydia (Gehman) Martin, Janet, wife of John Burkholder, Betty, wife of Leon Hurst, Wanda, wife of Wesley Shirk.
He was preceded in death by his grandson-in-law, Anthony Cazillo, and a brother-in-law, Elvin Good.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hinkletown Mennonite Church, 2031 Division Hwy., Ephrata. An additional viewing will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the church, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by his memorial service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Glenn Sauder officiating. Interment will take place in the Hinkletown Mennonite Cemetery.

John Richard Martin, 92, died at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, Harrisonburg, Va., on March 23, 2021.
He was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Harrisonburg, Va., the son of the late Perry S. and Annie Wenger Martin.
On March 31, 1956, John married Marian Stover Landis of Blooming Glen, Pa. Marian preceded him in death in 2016. In 2018, he married Evelyn Jost Martin.
He earned degrees from Eastern Mennonite College, Goshen Biblical Seminary, Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Lancaster Theological Seminary.
In 1957, he was ordained to the ministry at Woodridge Mennonite Church, Washington, D.C. He pastored there three years along with serving as Associate Executive Secretary of National Service Board for Religious Objectors. He later pastored Neffsville Mennonite Church, Neffsville, Pa. for 10 years. This was followed by serving on the faculty of Eastern Mennonite College and Seminary. He taught college Bible for seven years and then served as seminary Registrar and Professor of Church Ministries for 18 years. During his years of ministry, he served on a number of denominational boards and programs, including Director of 1-W Services, Moderator of Virginia Mennonite Conference, President of Mennonite Board of Congregational Ministries, and President of Mennonite Broadcasts.
He also authored four books as well as articles for various periodicals.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jost Martin; three children and seven grandchildren: Don R. Martin and his wife, Barbara of Harrisonburg, Va. (Daniel, Timothy and Philip); Lee Martin and his wife, Peg of Kimball, W.Va. (Maria and Curtis); Ann Martin and her husband, Jim Stutzman of Lancaster, Pa. (Emma and Ben).
He was also preceded in death by his eight siblings: Robert, J. Weldon, Mary (King), Virginia (Derstine), Ruth (Harnish), Margaret (Weaver), Perry Sanford and Ralph.
The memorial service will be live-streamed from Park View Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg, Va. on Saturday, April 17, at 2:00 p.m. The sanctuary will be closed to the public. For details on the live stream, go to pvmchurch.org/johnmartin. The burial will be held privately.

October 26, 1931 - February 18, 2021
John Wesley Martin, 89 of Sweet Home, Oregon, passed away on February 18, 2021 in Albany, Oregon. John was born in York, Pennsylvania on October 26, 1931 to Enos and Anna (Gehman) Martin.
John grew up in several towns around the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area.
He met Mary Ann Martin in 1956, and they were married on February 9, 1957. They made their home in New Holland, Pennsylvania. John worked as an office manager and a weigh master for Martin's Limestone, his father-in-law's stone business. He was active in Bethany Mennonite Church and The Lion's Club.
John spent most of his free time going to his children's sporting events.
He retired in December, 1990, and John and Mary Ann then moved to Sarasota, Florida where they enjoyed golfing and playing cards and games with their friends. He was an active member of Bahia Vista Mennonite Church where he sang in the choir. They also spent their summers traveling the country visiting their children and grandchildren. They moved to Sweet Home, Oregon in July, 2018, where he attended River of Life Fellowship until his death.
John was a kind-hearted man who always had a smile on his face. The constants in his life were his commitment to Jesus Christ and his deep love for his family. He was the last remaining sibling in a very large family.
John is survived by his wife Mary Ann Martin of Sweet Home; children: Cathy (Arlen) Emmert of Sweet Home; Dale (Wendy) Martin of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Karen (Rick) Eberly of Maineville, Ohio; grandchildren: Stephanie Emmert, Ben Emmert, Melissa Henkle, Diana Martin, Kelsie Hunter, Brooke Rogers, and Sydnee Eberly; five great-grandchildren.
Martin, Kathryn May Weaver
July 1, 1926 - January 22, 2021
Kathryn May (Weaver) Martin, 94, of 99 Bethany Road, Ephrata, entered into her heavenly home on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Ephrata Manor, due to complications from Covid-19.
Born in Union Grove on July 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frances (Burkholder) and David N. Weaver. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Weaver W. Martin.
Kathryn worked as an equal partner in management of the family farm, garden, orchard and animals. Both she and her husband were deeply committed to sustainability and preserving the earth for the next generation.
She found enjoyment and satisfaction in caring for her family. She liked making and sharing meals with family and friends and was well known for her homemade bread and rolls.
She also enjoyed bird watching, growing flowers, and caring for many pets.
She was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church and an active participant in her Sunday school class.
Kathryn was intellectually curious and a lifelong learner. An avid reader, she enjoyed current events, politics, history and biographies and wanted to discuss all of it. Even at the end of her life she kept up with politics. Because family circumstances did not allow her to finish high school, she pursued her GED at the age of 60 when her children had all completed their studies. After completing her GED, she then studied to become a certified nursing assistant.
Kathryn had an intuition and empathy for people who were hurting, and extended care and compassion. This care extended to all creatures wild and tame and she was particularly skilled in nursing sick or injured animals back to health.
Until the end of her life Kathryn had a memory for dates, anniversaries, birthdays and wrote countless letters and cards, in her distinctive handwriting, to stay in touch with friends and family.
Her love of cooking, baking and breadmaking continues to live on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as does her love and care for cats and dogs. She will also live on through the many quilts she made for her children and grandchildren from repurposed fabric and old clothes, creating beauty and new purpose.
Surviving are four children, Rosalind D., married to Dennis Ernest of Stevens, M. Fern Martin, married to Monroe Gilmour of Black Mountain, NC, L. Merle Martin, married to Diane of Reinholds, and Carol Martin Johnson, married to Tim of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Ernest, married to Emmalea, Rebecca Ernest, David Gilmour, married to Keosha Morgan, Aaron Gilmour married to Emmi Lohrentz, Sarah Gilmour, Robert and Kathryn (Katie) Martin Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Ruth and Irene Ernest; a brother, John Weaver of Harrisonburg, VA. Preceding her in death are two brothers, Hoover and David Weaver and one sister, Florence Weaver.

Kathryn enjoyed being outside and thus to celebrate her life, when it feels COVID-19 safe, an outdoor event will be held for friends and family to be together and share memories.

Leonard L. Martin, 76, of Denver, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosene (Weaver) Martin.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Leon G. and Bertha A. (Esbenshade) Martin.
Leonard was a butcher, working at New Holland Meat Market, Dutch-Way Farm Market, and lastly Shady Maple Farm Market.
He was a member of Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed time spent with his family and caring for his property.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Sherry married to Kevin Sensenig, Denver, Randy married to Bonnie (Sensenig) Martin, Denver, Steve married to Carol (Kreisher) Martin, Denver, Jeff married to Crystal (Sprout) Martin, Denver, Rosie married to Duane Martin, New Holland, 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Marlin married to Linda (Zeiset) Martin, Terre Hill and Roy married to Nancy (Zeiset) Martin, Narvon.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Martin.

Leonard Z. Martin, Jr., 52, of McGregor, Iowa died February 16, 2021 at his home. Born in New Holland, he was the son of Joyce (Good) Martin and the late Leonard Z. Martin, Sr. He graduated from Pequea Valley High School in 1986 and attended technical school to be an ASE certified mechanic.
Leonard was previously married to Ember (Trautsch) Martin, with whom two children were born, Brandon and Shelby. He was a volunteer fireman in Pennsylvania and Iowa since 1984. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, hiking and photography.
Surviving Leonard are his children, Brandon Martin and Shelby Martin, both of McGregor, Iowa; girlfriend, Sheri King of McGregor, Iowa; mother, Joyce Martin of New Holland; sisters, Jackie Bills, Connie Marshall both of Ephrata and Lori Hoover of Brownstown; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Z. Martin, Sr., and brother, Randall Martin.

Lewis M. Martin, 66, of Denver, died Monday, January 25, at Premier at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg, where he had resided the past 3 months.
Born in E. Cocalico Twp., he was the son of the late Eli and Ada Z. Martin Martin.
Lewis had worked on the family farm and also for Martin's Silo Repair.

Born in Richland on May 6, 1949, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Susan (Wise) Martin. Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mabel G. (Martin) Martin.

Myerstown - Mabel G. Martin, 67, of Myerstown, PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 in the Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of Rufus Martin. Mabel was born in Millcreek Township, Lebanon County on October 23, 1953, a daughter of the late Elmer S. and Pauline Mae Gingrich Nolt. Martha S. Martin, 97, of Morgantown, passed away April 21, 2021 at her home. Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Daniel E. and Maggie M. (Shirk) Brubaker. She was blessed with 64 years of marriage to Levi M. Martin, who predeceased her on Aug. 21, 2014.
She was a member of Churchtown Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.

Martha S. Martin, 91, of Narvon, died Friday, June 11, 2021 at home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Aaron S. Martin who died July 12, 2020. Born in Caernarvon Twp, she was the daughter of the late Samuel M., Sr. and Lizzie M. Sauder Nolt.
Martha was a homemaker and a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving are nine children, Edna (Aaron) Hoover of Colby, WI, Raymond (Emma Shirk) Martin of Narvon, Alda (Paul) Brubaker of Curtiss, WI, LeRoy Martin of Morgantown, Aaron (Louella Martin) Martin of Narvon, Samuel (Lydia Zimmerman) Martin of Thorp, WI, Harry (Arlene Zimmerman) Martin of Narvon, Martha (Mark) Newswanger of Narvon, and Mabel (Daniel) Newswanger of East Earl; 62 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Earl (Anna Martin) Brubaker of Thorp, WI; and two sisters, Mary Martin of Ephrata, and Lydia Ann Hurst of Penn Yan, NY. Mary Jane Martin, 61, of Richfield, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at her home.
She was born May 10, 1960, in Lebanon, the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Esther B. (Kurtz) Martin.
She was a member of Shade Mountain Mennonite Church, Mount Pleasant Mills.
Mary Jane is survived by her four brothers and two sisters, Floyd K. (Edna Fay) Martin of British Columbia, Canada, Allen K. (Brenda) Martin of Jackson City, Pa., Marlin K. (Teresa) Martin of Strasburg, David K. (Lois) Martin of Metter, Georgia, Gladys K. (Wilbur) Graybill of Centerville, Pa., and Erma K. (Wilmer) Graybill of McAlisterville; a brother-in-law, Tom Sharp; a sister-in-law, Joyce Hoover; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and was thrilled to recently become a great-great aunt.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard K. Martin and Harvey K. Martin; and two sisters, Margaret K. Sharp and Jennie Elizabeth Martin.
A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Shade Mountain Mennonite Church, 134 Center Road, Mount Pleasant Mills, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, with the ministry of Shade Mountain Mennonite Church officiating.

Mary Martin, 90, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Lincoln Christian Home.
She was born in West Earl Township to the late John N. and Mary (Nolt) Martin and was the wife of the late Melvin M. Martin.
She was a member of Meadow Valley Mennonite Church.
Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed working at Green Dragon for many years. She also loved to create quilts for others.
Mary is survived by 6 children, Linda, wife of the late Loren Martin of Clyde, NY, Wilma Martin of Lititz, Elaine, wife of Eugene Reiff of Wade, NC, Ronald, husband of Karen (Smith) Martin of Denver, Jay, husband of Linda (Lehman) Martin of Reinholds, Melvin Lee, husband of Rose (Smith) Martin of Lititz; 23 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and six sisters. She was the last of her immediate family.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021, from 5 to 8 PM at the Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, 200 Meadow Valley Road, Ephrata. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021, at 9:30 AM at Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, with Bishop Quinton Wenger officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Pine Grove - Mildred G. Martin, 89, of Pine Grove, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in her home. She was the wife of the late Paul Horning Martin who passed away October 5, 2018. She was born in Myerstown, on April 9, 1932, a daughter of the late Levi M. and Leah Gingrich Martin*. Mildred was a member of the Farmview Mennonite Church.
Surviving are children, Phyllis W. Martin of Pine Grove, PA; Willis W. Martin and wife Martha of Pine Grove, PA; Wilmer W. Martin and wife Lucille of Pine Grove, PA; Esther Mae Sadler and husband Mark Ray of Pine Grove, PA; Ronald W. Martin and wife Vera of Newark, NY; Thelma W. Musser and husband Elvin of Clyde, NY; Vernon W. Martin and wife Jennifer of Pine Grove, PA; 36 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two infant brothers and five sisters: Lydia, Lavina, Esther, Edith and Anna; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 9:30 am in Farmview Mennonite Church, 31 Farmview Road, Schuylkill Haven, PA. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Paul Z. Martin, 85, of 499 Reading Rd., East Earl, died Saturday, November 13, 2021, at his home. His wife of 63 years, Anna (Hoover) Martin, survives.
Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Phares M. and Sarah (Zimmerman) Martin.
Paul was a farmer and a member of the Reidenbach Mennonite Church.

Pauline A. Martin, age 94, of Goshen, died at 12:25 am, Friday, July 9, 2021 at her daughter’s residence, where she has lived for a year and a half. She had been ill for 11 days. Pauline was born December 30, 1926 to Aaron and Elizabeth (Ganger) Skiles. She lived her lifetime in this area. On October 7, 1951, she married Gerald Martin. He preceded her in death October 17, 2002.
Mrs. Martin was a member of the Wisler Mennonite Church.
Surviving are her children, Ronald (Ina) Martin, Elkhart, Sheryl (Steve) Weaver, Goshen, Kermit (Elsie) Martin, Quarryville, PA, Gloria (Denny) Martin, Goshen, Deanna (Steve) Chupp, Nappanee; son-in-law, Chad Yutzy, New Paris; 31 grandchildren; 94 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and brothers, Roger (Mabel) Skiles, Wakarusa and Richard (Barbara) Skiles, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; daughter, Carmen Yutzy; 2 grandsons, Kevin and Devon Martin; and her sister, Harriet Oyler.

Raymond B. Martin, 86, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Fairmount Homes.
He was born in Millway to the late Noah W. and Anna G. (Bowman) Martin and was the husband of Esther H. (Good) Martin with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
He was a member of Metzler's Mennonite Church. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, listening to music, singing, and traveling.
Raymond was a self-employed farmer for many years prior to his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by two daughters, Sharon Long of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, Christine, wife of Mervin Zook of Carlton, Oregon; ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and a brother, James W., husband of Bonnie (Myers) Martin of Palmyra; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Martin, Schaefferstown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard B., Harry B., and Roy B. Martin.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Metzler Mennonite Church, 515 W. Metzler Road, Ephrata. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Pastors David Buch and Eugene Zoll officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Martin, Robert Leonard
January 22, 1932 - December 17, 2021
Robert Leonard Martin, 89, of Lititz, formerly of Ephrata, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Brethren Village.
Born in Lancaster County on January 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Esther Stauffer. He was the foster son of the late Ivan and Maggie (Auker) Martin.
Robert was the beloved husband of Alverta (Stauffer) Martin. He was devoted to his wife and family. He is survived by three children, Debra, wife of William Keppler of Granville Summit, Sheryl, wife of Steve Krafft of Akron, Wendy, wife of Damien Turbini of Belfast, ME: two granddaughters, Jennifer (Keppler) Roberts, Allison Keppler and two great-grandsons, Dylan and Ethan Roberts.
He is also survived by three foster brothers, Arthur Martin, Eugene Martin, and Joe Martin. He is preceded in death by his stepsister, Janessa Nisley and foster brother, James Martin.
Robert was a car salesman for Horning Dodge in New Holland for 36 years. He loved cars and made lots of contacts and friendships over the years. Later hemaggie was a driver for Sauder's Chevrolet.
He was founding a member of Akron Mennonite Church where he was active in the church serving as an usher, on the cemetery committee and participating in several House Church groups.
Robert was a soft-spoken gentleman. He had a lifelong love of learning which he shared with his family, was very curious about the world, and an avid reader. Time Magazine could always be found near his favorite chair.
Robert loved to travel. One of the family's favorite destinations was heading to their cabin at Ship Bottom, Long Beach Island, NJ. Robert and Alverta hosted family gatherings, their House Church, and many friends. In later years, Robert and Alverta became snowbirds, wintering in Sarasota, Florida. His time was spent socializing with old friends and making new ones. He also loved taking walks to the bay, golfing, playing games, fishing and bird watching. His curiosity and love of and awe of nature led him to traveling. Some of his favorite trips were exploring Alaska, traveling with friends to Indonesia, and packing up the children for a road trip out west.
Interment will be private for immediate family in Akron Mennonite Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date at his church.

Roy G. Martin, 83, Goshen, died 6:06 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at his home. He was born February 11, 1938 in Wakarusa to Paul K. & Dorothy (Newcomer) Martin. On June 1, 1957, he married Carol J. (Detwiler) Martin.
Surviving are his wife, Carol, Goshen, daughter, Brenda (Steve) Gongwer, White Pigeon, Michigan, sons, Terry (Tami) Martin, Goshen, Randal (Marilyn) Martin, Sebring, Florida, Kevin (Tonia) Martin, Weatherford, Oklahoma, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, sisters, Verda Jump, Goshen and Thelma Snyder, Wichita, Kansas.
Preceding him in death are his parents, grandson, Jesse Martin, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Roy was owner and operator of Ed’s Appliance. He was a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, the Michiana Toy Club and the Johnny Poppers Tractor Club. Roy collected toy tractors and enjoyed photography, camping and loved playing Rook. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2021 and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, May 10, 2021, all at the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, 64901 CR 11, Goshen. Pastor Wes Bontreger will officiate, and burial will follow at Yellow Creek Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church Building Fund.

Rufus W. Martin, 90, of Ephrata, formerly of Lititz, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at Fairmount Homes.
He was born in Terre Hill to the late Henry and Lucy (Weber) Martin and was the husband of Mary (Nolt) Martin with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.
He and his wife Mary faithfully attended the New Haven Mennonite Church.
Rufus was a retired farmer. He was previously a bus driver for Manheim Township School District and most recently worked for Martin Appliance.
In addition to his wife, Rufus is survived by his daughter, Geraldine N., wife of Dennis Martin of Newmanstown; three grandchildren, Dawn, wife of Paul Landis, Dwayne, husband of Tiffany Martin and Jeffrey, husband of Teresa Martin; four great-grandsons, Austin, Myles, Mateo, Max, and five great-granddaughters, Kristy, Brisa, Ashley, Jenna, and Kyra. He is also survived by three brothers, Andrew Martin, Warren Martin, Henry Martin, all of Reinholds and a brother-in-law, Titus Martin of Ephrata.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Martin and six sisters, Pauline Martin, Elizabeth Martin, Lucy Eberly, Beatrice Martin Good, Anna Good, and Esther Martin.

Martin, Sharon Marjorie Skrivseth
July 21, 1940 - December 16, 2021
Sharon Marjorie Skrivseth Martin of Liberty, KY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at home with her family around her. She was 81.
Born on July 21, 1940, in Rako, Minnesota, she was a daughter of the late Bendick and Christina (Halverson) Skrivseth. As a young girl, Sharon liked to ride bikes, climb trees, play in the playhouse, and drive her "tire" car. When she was ten years old in 1950, she committed her life to Christ. In the spring of 1951, she was baptized at Graceton Mennonite Church, along with three of her siblings and her parents.
Sharon worked tirelessly as a homemaker, teaching and training her children, helping on the farm, and running a fabric shop. As her child, if you could get her to laugh, you were "in business." Sharon taught Sunday School classes from the time that she was fifteen years old. She was very creative and enjoyed making meaningful memorabilia to share with others. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, bird watching, making quilts, doing crafts with her grandchildren, and most of all, reading her Bible.
As Sharon said in her journal, "My main hope and dream for my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren is that they ask Jesus to come into their life and guide them on to their Heavenly home so that we can all meet again in Heaven with Jesus." One of her favorite verses was Psalm 31:24 "Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord."
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Martin of Liberty, KY; eleven children, Deloris (Keith) Clugston of McConnellsburg, PA; Margorie Lanius of Thailand; Correne (Kim) Tait of Byron Center, MI; Laura (Robert) Kulp of Merrill, WI; Janice Martin of Goshen, IN; Alta (Jeff) Tucker of Liberty, KY; Mervin (Becky) Martin of Liberty, KY; Ruth (Troy) Ewer of Ladysmith, WI; Roxane (James) Miller of Goshen, IN; Titus (Jennifer) Martin of Liberty, KY; and Eldon (Crystal) Martin of McConnellsburg, PA; fifty-eight grandchildren, and fifty-four great-grandchildren. Other survivors include six siblings, Norma Ash of Bay Tree, AB; Sidney (Ruth) Skrivseth of Bonners Ferry, ID; Carol (Amos) Kauffman of Boyceville, WI; Jo Ellen (John) Weaver of Conrath, WI; Rhoda (Nelson) Martin of Glen Flora, WI; and Leah (Dave) Darnell of Duluth, MN.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a son, Rodney Lee; two brothers, Philip Skrivseth and Arnold Skrivseth; and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that were born too soon.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Needmore Bible Church at 6939 Great Cove Rd, Needmore, PA 17238. Burial will follow in Mountain View Mennonite Church Cemetery at 620 Old US 30, McConnellsburg, PA 17233. All are invited to fellowship at a meal following the burial at Calvary Independent Baptist Church at 140 McGoverns Lane, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.

Timothy W. Martin, 52, of Mount Pleasant Mills, entered into rest Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center.
Born March 15, 1968, in Lewisburg, he was a son of Allen and Mary (Weaver) Martin of Port Trevorton. On Dec. 14, 1995, he married the former Marie S. Martin, who survives.
Timothy worked as a farmer.
He was a member of the Pallas Old Order Mennonite Church, Snyder County Conference.
Surviving in addition to his wife are six children, Janelle, Shirley, Randall, Galen, Derrick and Darlene, all at home; nine siblings and their spouses, Susan and Isaac Stauffer of Port Trevorton, Regina and Laurence Horst of Port Trevorton, Wayne and Lucy Martin of Shobonier, Ill., Rosanna and Jason Martin of Port Trevorton, Faith and Edwin Martin of Liverpool, Amy and Jeffery Sensenig of Mount Pleasant Mills, Christina Martin of Port Trevorton, Carolyn and Eli Martin of Fort Plain, NY, and Jeremy Martin of Port Trevorton; and his father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Rachel Martin of Liverpool.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the family residence, 490 Potato Valley Road, Mount Pleasant Mills, where the funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, with further services at Pallas Old Order Mennonite Church, Mount Pleasant Mills with the home ministry officiating.

Twila W. Martin, 85, of Stevens, died Monday, November 29, 2021, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was married for 66 years to Harold W. Martin, who survives.
Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Earl H. and Ruth (Wenger) Wissler.
Twila was a homemaker, but also worked for an egg farmer and provided baby sitting services in her home.
She was a member of Green Terrace Mennonite Church. She enjoyed baking cookies and was a volunteer at the Ephrata ReUzit Store.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: Kenneth married to Rita (Martin) Martin, Ephrata, Dawn married to Donnie Martin, Denver, Keith A. married to Deb (Lehman) Martin, Denver, Duane L. married to Carla (Hollinger) Martin, Mohnton, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five siblings: Marian married to Paul Kreider, John married to Reba (Weaver) Wissler, Eunice married to Titus Witmer, James married to Karen (Young) Wissler, Linda married to Mike Miller.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at Blainsport Mennonite Church, 85 S. Blainsport Rd., Reinholds. Martin, Virginia M. Moyers
April 25, 1922 - July 21, 2021
Virginia M. Martin, 99, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She had lived at VMRC since 1994.
She was born on April 25, 1922, in Broadway, Virginia, the daughter of Benjamin and Ida Fawley Moyers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, J. Mark Martin; an infant son, Wayne Daniel; six brothers, Herbert, Ernest, Irvin, James, Preston, and Frank, and son-in-law, Rodney Martin.
Virginia graduated from Broadway High School in 1939 and Eastern Mennonite College (University) in 1941. She married J. Mark Martin in 1942. They raised four children and were very active in church work. They were also members of the Choice Books Caribbean Board for 25 years. She worked as a baker at EMU from 1974-1984. Following Mark’s death in August, 1994, she was an active member of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community Auxiliary and did volunteer work at VMRC.
Virginia was a member of Trissels Mennonite Church, where she formerly served as elder and president of their women’s mission organization.
She is survived by four children, Phyllis Martin, of Harrisonburg, Joyce Hutchinson (Greg), of Charlottesville, David Martin (Rachel) of Akron, Pa., and Miriam Clark (Brian Ailles), of Harrisonburg; 10 grandchildren, and seven-great grandchildren. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with many talents.
Mom was an artist, seamstress, baker, gardener, and Christian friend who liked to sing, read, and spend time with friends. The last 27 years of her life were spent at VMRC, where she made many friends and enjoyed playing Bingo, Spinner, Scrabble, Wii bowling, exercise class, and art classes with JMU students. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She liked to say she had fun every day, and was an inspiration and example to all who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, July 30th at Park View Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Zion Mennonite Church Cemetery in Broadway.
Friends may view and sign a guestbook on Thursday, July 29th at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Martin, Willard
January 13, 1934 - May 28, 2021
Willard Martin, 87, died peacefully, with his wife by his side, at Landis Homes Retirement Community on May 28, 2021. The cause of death was pneumonia due to complications of Lewy body dementia. Willard was born into the Old Order Mennonite home of David and Adina Martin in Hawkesville, Ontario. As was customary for a boy in that culture, he quit school at age 14 and worked on his parents' and other farms. At age 17 he left the Old Order church and joined a mainstream Mennonite church. In his early 20s he drove a semi for several years. Encouraged by friends, he enrolled at Goshen College, where he earned a B.A. in history and met his future wife, Mary Ellen Kauffman of Lancaster.
Following college, Willard taught in a junior high school for three years. He then earned an M.A. in German at Penn State. After a year of teaching at Shippensburg University, he returned to Penn State to work on a Ph.D., which he finished while working full-time in an administrative position and doing some teaching. During these 14 years on the main campus he developed a course in Pennsylvania German culture and was active in the Pennsylvania German Society. With a grant to do research on the dialect, he and a colleague interviewed dialect speakers in Lancaster Co. and Ontario. The resulting paper, "Language Loyalty among the Pennsylvania Germans," was presented in a symposium at the University of Kansas and published in Germanica Americana 1976. Continuing to work for Penn State for five more years, Willard served as the director of academic affairs at the branch campus in McKeesport.
Then for a number of years Willard was employed at Goshen College as academic dean and professor of German. Interspersed in those years were two stints of directing study-abroad programs in Germany: a semester with the Goshen College program in communist East Germany and two years with BCA in Marburg. Among his son Derek's favorite memories of Marburg is that his dad was always willling to chauffeur him and his friends and obviously enjoyed listening to their German chatter and teenage colloquialisms.
In 1995 Willard returned to Germany for five years to serve as the CEO and academic dean of a small University of Maryland campus in Schwäbisch Gmünd.
Upon his official retirement in 2000, Willard and Mary Ellen settled in State College. The German Department at Penn State asked Willard to teach again, and he taught for 14 more years, elementary German as well as upper-level literature courses. Eventually he confined his teaching to a course on the plain Anabaptists. He was clearly well-liked by his students, as evidenced, for example, by the honor of several student marshals having him escort them at their commencement ceremonies.
Willard was known for his storytelling and was invited to speak to various groups about the plain people. In light of his early background his accomplishments were remarkable. In 2014 Willard and Mary Ellen moved to Landis Homes, but after a total of 28 years in State College it remained "home."
Willard played ice hockey and baseball in his youth. Later he was known as a wicked racquetball player, and he enjoyed coaching his son Stefan's Little League team. His favorite sports on TV were ice hockey and Penn State football. At Landis Homes he played water volleyball; he also volunteered there.
Other interests were reading, travel, and activities with his beloved sons and grandchildren. The Martin family‘s vacations often took them to Chesley Lake in Ontario. Over the years Willard and Mary Ellen made several trips to Europe; they traveled extensively there while living in Germany. After returning to the U.S. in 2000, Willard realized his wish to see more of North America.
In State College, Willard was involved in leadership at University Mennonite Church. Currently he was a member of Akron Mennonite Church. He was a kind and gentle man, a wonderful husband and father. Landis Homes staff who took care of him in his last four months called him dear and sweet.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Stefan (Heidi) of Milwaukee and Derek (Henry Lucero) of Los Angeles; two sisters and three brothers-in-law in Ontario; brother-in-law, Richard Kauffman in Goshen, Ind.; three grandchildren (Lily, Garrett, and Kyle). Preceding him in death were five siblings and a stillborn grandson.
Martin, Wilmer Z.

Wilmer Z. Martin, 70, of East Earl, PA, died at home on Sunday, January 17, 2021.
He was the husband of the late Anna Joyce Horning Martin who died in 2016. Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Willis M. and Anna Mae Zimmerman Martin.
Wilmer was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference. He had been employed at New Holland Sales Stables for 44 years.
Surviving is a brother, Willis husband of Linda Martin of East Earl; and three sisters, Arlene wife of Melvin Horst of Geneva, NY, Marian wife of Ezra Martin of Myerstown, and Esther Mae wife of the late Luke Brubacker of East Earl. He was preceded in death by a stillborn sister, Edith.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 25, at 9:30 A.M. at the Martindale Mennonite Church, 905 Martindale Road, Ephrata, PA with Bishop Amos G. Martin officiating. Effie Mae Mast, 87, of Shipshewana, died at 8:40 pm on Saturday, May 22, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She had been in declining health with a brief illness. She was born on March 20, 1934, in Topeka, KS, to Peter S. and Lydia (Borntrager) Schwartz. On October 15, 1953 in Howe she married Ora J. Mast, he died July 20, 2016.
Surviving are daughter, Mary (Larry) Borntrager of Middlebury; six sons, David (Marlene) Mast of Shipshewana, Dennis Mast of Middlebury, Stan (Lolly) Mast of White Pigeon, MI, Steven (Jana) Mast of Goshen, Jerry (Marlynn) Mast of Topeka, Joel (Christy) Mast of Millersburg; 24 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, 14 step great-grandchildren, six step great great grandchildren; four sisters, Ada (Edwin) Yoder of Middlebury, Saloma (Sam) Steury of Mishawaka, Wilma (Jr.) Yoder of Nappanee, Rebecca Miller of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Jeremy Mast; two stillborn great grandchildren; three brothers, Amos, Jerry, and Samuel Schwartz; sister, Mary Graber.
Effie was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, working in the garden, and loved spending time with her family.
Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 25, and all day Wednesday, May 26, at the Dave Mast residence, 0740 N. 850 W., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Thursday May 27, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Amos Schwartz and the home ministers. Floyd L. Mast, 83, of Goshen passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 20, 2021 at home.
He was born November 2, 1937 in Elkhart County to Mose L. and Susanna (Hostetler) Mast.
On July 12, 1964, he married Theda J. Yoder in Nappanee.
She survives along with two children, Teresa (Gary) Miller of Hartville, Ohio and Eugene (Carrie) Mast of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Blake and Kaden Mast and Eva, Derek, Joshua and Cameron Miller; and three brothers, Loyal (Ana) Mast of Lingrove and Laban (Barbara) Mast and Lester (Marsha) Mast, both of Goshen.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Driscilla Bontrager and Mary Yoder.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Mast was a member of Pleasant View Church, Christian Motorcycle Association and Voyager Club. At the age of 80, Floyd rode motorcycle in Hawaii, completing his goal to ride motorcycle in all 50 states.
Floyd will be remembered for his servant’s heart. He delivered motorcycles to Guatemala for Christian Motorcycle Association enabling local pastors to travel from town to town. He served his church by helping with Bible Memory, serving as an usher and teaching Sunday school. He also volunteered at The Window.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pleasant View Church and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. Pastors Mark Snyder and Ron Diener will officiate.
Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Christian Motorcycle Association.

Levi E. Mast, 81, of Goshen, died at 6:26 am on Saturday, November 27 at his residence. He was born on December 13, 1939, in LaGrange County, to Eli and Lovina (Herschberger) Mast. On August 13, 1966, in Goshen, he married Edna Bontrager, she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two sons, Gary (Denise) Mast of Millersburg, Ron (Natalie) Mast of Goshen; two grandchildren, Olivia and Alexis Mast; two step grandchildren, Chad (Kristi) Springer, Phillip (Vanessa) Albert; two step great-grandchildren, Madison and Max Springer; brother, Eli (Betty) Mast of Goshen; three sisters-in-law, Liz Mast, Janet Mast, Beatrice Mast all of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jerry, Andy, Mel, and John Mast; four sisters, Lucy Gingerich, Lizzie Ann Miller, Fannie Yoder, Edna Bontrager.
Levi was a member of First Mennonite Church in Middlebury. He worked at Carriage Inc. for 30+ years and retired in 2009. He enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 30 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:00 am funeral service on Wednesday, December 1 at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Phil Yoder. Mervin S. Mast, 78, of LaGrange, died at 4:59 pm on Thursday, October 28, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. He was born on November 15, 1942 in LaGrange to Samuel L. and Mattie J. (Miller) Mast. On October 11, 1966 in Shipshewana he married Anna E. Miller, she survives.

Myerstown - Ruth Z. Mast, 63, of Myerstown, PA, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021 in Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA. She was the wife of Willis F. Mast with whom she was married to for 43 years. She was born in Ephrata on July 29, 1958, daughter of the late Eli S. and Edith Zimmerman Burkholder.
Ruth was founder and proprietor of Mast Bulk and Health Foods (Cupboard) and loved interacting with her customers. She was a member of Hammercreek Mennonite Church of Lititz where she was involved with her Church Friends Group. She was also an Amish taxi driver for years and enjoyed quilting.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Edith Marie Miller and partner Timothy Grieco; Ardith Dawn Cameron and husband Richard both of Myerstown; Leatha Jean Reiff and husband Lavern of Lititz; Andrew Gerald Mast and wife Ruth Elizabeth of Richland; Meredith Cheryl Mast of ME; grandchildren, Ethan, Ty, Cody, Bently, James, Alex and Erin; sisters, Rachel Heatwole and husband Earl of ME; Rhoda Sweigart and husband Wilbur of Richland; brother, David Burkholder and wife Lucille of Illinois.

Samuel “Sam” Jr. Mast, 75, of Millersburg, died at 12:45 am on Tuesday, August 31 at his residence. He was born on January 3, 1946, in Middlebury, to Sam A. and Susie (Bontrager) Mast. On December 14, 1967, in Topeka, he married Gertie E. Miller, she survives.

July 2, 1928 - August 29, 2021
Vera Mast, Child of God, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, relative, and friend to many. This sweet woman left us to go to her heavenly suite on Sunday, August 29. She was married 73 years to her husband, E.Kenneth Mast, Ephrata, PA who says "she was among the finest ladies with her domestic skills in Lancaster County." She loved her family "nest". In it were her children:
Jan married to Curt Umble, Carol married to John Stoltzfus, Bob married to Twila (Keener), Harold married to Tina (Guthrie), and Dan married to Lori (Martin). She had 13 wonderful grandchildren, and 17 amazing great-grandchildren. She is also blessed to have a surviving brother, Wilmer Hostetter, and many caring nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of H. Jay and Margie Hostetter. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and two brothers.
She cared for others so well. Faithfully remembering birthdays with cards, and she was so generous with her love, gifts, and phone calls.
In her lifetime she was a busy farmer's wife and a member of many women's Bible studies. She was a faithful volunteer at Thrift shops and Lancaster General Hospital. She was an optician for Dr. Mervin Stoltzfus and also worked at S. Clyde Weaver and Dutchway. She loved to cook and entertain many persons in their homes. She traveled along with her husband through 48 states, Alaska, and abroad.
Her life celebration will be held at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, 549 Swan Rd., Atglen on Wed. Sept.1 at 10:30 AM. The family will greet friends after the service. Private burial for family will take place before the service.

Marsha K. McCleary, age 78, passed away February 1, 2021, at 12:55 am, at the Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Marsha was born September 19, 1942, in Decatur, IN, to Clyde L. and Elaine E. (Rogers) Foster who preceded her in death. On November 12, 1960, she married Robert E. McCleary who preceded her in death on January 8, 2014.
Marsha was a 1960 graduate of Monroeville High School in Indiana. She taught sewing classes and was the head seamstress at Sears. Marsha then decided to change vocations and her pursue a career in nursing. She attended the Lima Technical College where she earned an Associates Degree in Nursing and then later a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Ashland University. She worked as a R.N. with the St. Rita’s Medical Center where her field of focus was in psychiatric and mental health. Marsha was the program coordinator of the Geriatric Psych Floor at St. Rita’s Medical Center and was also affiliated with the Alzheimer’s Association. Some of Marsha’s interests included reading, sewing, cooking, and spending evenings with her grandchildren for a dinner and a movie.
Marsha is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Jerry) Stemen and son, Kent (Liz) McCleary both of Lima, OH, 4 grandchildren: Kent McCleary, Joseph (Tasha) McCleary, Sarah (Kane) Brookman and Amanda (Trent) Townsend, 4 great grandchildren: Nevaeh, Jaxson, Kilynn and Ryder, a sister, Jeanie Crates of Monroeville, IN, 2 brothers: Dave (Kathy) Foster and Dan (Patty) Foster both of Decatur, IN. She was preceded in death by a brother in-law, Jon Crates.
There will be a private funeral service held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Metzler, Edgar James

Edgar James Metzler, a peacemaker who championed justice and non-violence throughout his life of ecumenical service and international development work, died on May 12, 2021 at Goshen Hospital, Indiana, at age 91. He was a resident of Greencroft Healthcare.
Ed was born November 12, 1929, in Masontown, Pennsylvania, to Alta Mae and A.J. (Abram Jacob) Metzler, the second of six children. His father was a Bishop in the Mennonite Church and manager of the Mennonite Publishing House in Scottdale, PA. Numerous guests from churches throughout the world were welcomed to their dinner table for fellowship and stimulating conversations.
During his high school years at Eastern Mennonite High School (VA), at age 16, Ed joined the "Seagoing Cowboys" on a UN Relief and Rehabilitation ship carrying horses to war-torn Poland, an adventure that fueled his love of world travel and learning. He graduated in 1948, and joined a voluntary service unit at a hospital in Kansas City for the summer before going to Goshen College (IN) where he was active in the Peace Society, and attended the Conference on the Church and War (Detroit, 1950), where he was inspired to learn about Gandhi's demonstration of nonviolent action and reconciliation.
In 1951, he married Ethel Yake, whose five siblings became a dearly loved second family. Michael was born in 1952, and in 1953 Ed received his BA in Psychology.
In 1954, Ed and Ethel moved to Washington, DC, where Mary was born. Ed's ecumenical horizons broadened in his work as Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) representative at the National Service Board for Religious Objectors assisting conscientious objectors from 40 faith groups and monitoring government actions affecting freedom of conscience.
Ed was invited to become the pastor of the First Mennonite Church in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. He received his Bachelor of Divinity from Goshen College Biblical Seminary, and was ordained in 1957. Peter was born in 1958, followed by Philip in 1959, the same year the Gospel Herald published Ed's article advocating civil disobedience by non-registration for the draft.
In 1962, the family moved to Akron, PA. In his capacity as Executive Secretary of the MCC Peace Section, Ed was an active witness to the federal government on issues of peacemaking and non-violence, and traveled to India and Russia on short-term assignments. He became a participant in the civil rights movement, sharing his beliefs with his young children by taking them to protest marches in Lancaster, PA, and Washington, DC.

After a year of graduate studies in International Service at American University in Washington, DC, Ed accepted an invitation to join the Peace Corps as a program director in Nepal, and in 1967, moved the family to Kathmandu to begin a whole new life of cross-cultural immersion. In addition to working with the Nepali government and PC volunteers to implement educational and agricultural programs, Ed found his expertise in conscientious objection in high demand by the volunteers.
For the next 7 years, Ed worked as a Peace Corps director and trainer in Nepal, India (Kolkata), Thailand, and Iran, meeting complex situations with optimism and aplomb, and embracing the challenges and rewards of diversity. As family members dispersed to boarding schools and travel, he kept them all in touch through densely typed air mail forms with numbered paragraphs. In their extensive travels, Ethel and Ed developed friendships everywhere, and enjoyed finding places where Ethel could swim and Ed play tennis, golf, or read the newspaper, or take photographs that revealed his aesthetic sensibility.
Returning stateside in 1974, Ed and Ethel bought a house in Goshen, IN, where Ed taught Ethics and Political Science as a visiting professor at Goshen College, Ethel started graduate studies in counseling, and they became early members of Assembly Mennonite Church, hosting small groups and mentoring young adults.
Over the next years, Ed applied his administrative skills in numerous Mennonite Church contexts, serving as Director of Addictions Services for Oaklawn Psychiatric Center, then as Director of Peace and Justice Concerns for the Mennonite Church, Director of Menn. Board of Congregational Ministries, and Coordinator of New Call to Peacemaking (a cooperative effort of historic Peace Churches). He was the chair of the first steering committee of Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT). Ed traveled to Asia on short term assignments with MCC, and served briefly as interim director of the Washington office. Ed learned to sail a 24 foot O'Day and enjoyed trips with Ethel to Lake Michigan to sail, swim and walk the beach. He played tennis and often commuted to work in Elkhart on his bicycle.
A prolific writer, during this time Ed wrote over 50 book reviews. His 1985 article for the Gospel Herald, Men Need Liberation, Too!, is a call to men to become more responsible in undoing sexism and to support and embrace the gifts of women in all church positions. In 1989, Ed and Ethel were thrilled to return to Kathmandu as joint appointees of Mennonite Board of Missions and MCC to United Mission to Nepal (UMN), an agency whose diverse development projects included community health, non-formal education for women, hospitals and hydropower. As executive director, Ed provided leadership to a staff of more than 2,000 Nepalis, and 400 expatriates from 30+ church-related agencies from more than 18 countries. Ed was a bridge builder; his diplomatic skills and good humor enabled him to bring people together to work toward common goals. His ability to relate constructively allowed him to collaborate with high government officials during a time of dramatic social change.
Ed and Ethel's warm hospitality welcomed hundreds of guests into their home to share food and friendship. Ed loved traveling to remote parts of the country to visit projects, and trekking in the Himalayas with visiting family.
Leaving Nepal in 1998, Ed and Ethel returned to Akron, where Ed rejoined MCC as Director of International Programs, assisting their peacemaking and conflict transformation work in 50 countries. In 2003 they settled into retirement in Goshen, revitalizing relationships with family, friends, and church, and traveling across the country.
Although Ed experienced debilitating limitations in his last years, he lived with passionate self-determination, expressing with his indomitable spirit, "I may have Parkinson's, but it doesn't have me!" He remained actively engaged with his community and the world, clipping articles to share, and never losing his desire to take a ride on his 3-wheel bike.

The challenge is to live non-conformed to that ethos and to demonstrate the Jesus-ideal of how we relate to others in the midst of our differences and conflicts." Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Yake (d.July 29, 2018), and sister, Dorothy (Lawrence, d.) Brunk. Ed is survived by children Michael (Maaret Koskenalho, d.); Mary Martha (Gordon Prieb) and their son, Eli Metzler-Prieb; Peter (Kathryn Rowedder); and Philip (Sandra Anstaett), and their children Noah, Christopher, and Rachel; and his siblings, Carl (Doris Gunden), Jay (Jill Lalko), Joyce (Jep) Hostetler, and Alice (Willard) Roth. Ed's body was donated to Indiana University Medical School.
