Breneman, Arthur Lee
April 23, 1940 - February 26, 2023
Arthur Lee Breneman, son of the late Reverend John A. Breneman and Helen Kreider Breneman, died early Sunday morning on February 26, 2023, at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy High Breneman, daughters Kathy Funk and Kerry Breneman and son Kurt Breneman, also eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is survived by a brother C. Edwin Breneman. He was preceded in death by his brother J. Roy Breneman, sister Doris Bauman and son-in-law Phillip Funk.
He was a dairy farmer for decades in Willow Street. He was very active in his community and church. Loved as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 4, 2023 at 11:00 at Willow Street Mennonite Church, 399 E. Penn Grant Rd., Willow Street, PA 17584. In lieu of flowers you may make a contribution to Hope City Church 921 Nissley Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601.
Breniser, Edna B. Detweiler Miller
January 6, 1932 - December 21, 2023
Edna B. Breniser, 91, of Middlebury, passed away with her family by her side at 11:27 pm on Thursday, December 21, [2023] at Goshen Hospital. She was born on January 6, 1932, in Keota, IA, to Ben and Anna (Miller) Detweiler.
She moved to Indiana where she met Leroy Miller who she married on July 27, 1954. They had four children, Douglas (Brenda Golden) Miller of Centerville, IN; Desiree Miller of Bradenton, FL; Phillip (Patti Yoder) Miller of Middlebury; and Kendall (Susi Ross) Miller of Goshen. Her first husband Leroy passed away September 17, 1968. On June 6, 1974, in Elkhart County, she married Dean Breniser, adding two more to the family, Brian (Jamie Slough) Breniser of Middlebury and Tara Breniser of Phoenix, AZ.
Edna has 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, parents, and twelve siblings, Solomon, Martha, Irene, Leroy and Raymond Detweiler, Mabel Miller, Alice Detweiler, Dee Sherman, John Detweiler, Cora Miller, Edith and Ann Detweiler.
Edna worked as a cook and server at Hilltop, manager at the Goshen Sale Barn Restaurant, as an aid at Green Croft, and later as a home care provider. She was well known for her pies and cinnamon rolls. Taking care of others is what fulfilled her most. She was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend that will be so missed.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 26, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00 am funeral services on Wednesday, December 27, at the First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Tim Eash. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to Victory Lane Camp.
Brenneman, Floyd J.
February 23, 1957 - September, 24, 2023
Floyd J. Brenneman, 66, of LaGrange, IN died at Parkview Regional Medical Center on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
Mr. Brenneman was born on February 23, 1957, in Somerset, PA to John M. and Anna (Zook) Brenneman.
Mr. Brenneman was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and had been a cabinet maker for many years.
On August 31, 2023, in LaGrange, IN he married Amanda Miller; Mrs. Brenneman survives in LaGrange, IN.
Also surviving are his three daughters, Ruth Ann Brenneman of Woodburn, IN, Amy (Tobie) Schmucker of St. Joe, IN, and Rosemary (Aaron) Graber of St. Joe, IN; two sons, Alvin (Tina) Brenneman of Portland, IN, and James Brenneman of Auburn, IN; thirty grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his five brothers, Jonas (Esther) Brenneman of Camden, MI, Willie (Sarah) Brenneman of Stanwood, MI, David (Ellie) Brenneman of Woodville, WI, Noah (Mary) Brenneman of Stanwood, MI, and Daniel (Emma) Brenneman of Shell Lake, WI.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Anna Brenneman; his first wife, Bertha (Yoder) Brenneman; and a sister, Rebecca Mast.
Visitation will be held at the David Miller residence, 2265 S 00EW, LaGrange, IN beginning on Monday, September 25, 2023, at 4:00 pm and all day on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 9:30 am at the David Miller residence. Officiating the service will be Bishop Marvin Graber, and ministers, James Schmucker and James Witmer.
Burial will follow at Sandhill Cemetery in LaGrange, IN.
Brown, Ruth Mae Gogel
August 16, 1936 - September 30, 2023
Ruth Mae Brown, 87, Goshen, died 4:48 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Goshen Hospital. She was born August 16, 1936, in Spring City, Pennsylvania, to Charles S. & Mildred E. (Kolb) Gogel. On April 7, 1963, she married Sherman Louis Brown.
Surviving are her husband, Sherman Brown, Goshen, children, Brian C. (Anna) Brown, Goshen, Lora Lynn (Ramon) Lopez, Goshen, 4 grandchildren, Spencer C. (Delora) Brown, Emily L. (Jesse Torres) Brown, Alexandra Lopez, Victor Lopez, 1 great-grandchild, Leon Lopez Archer and a sister, Joan (Leroy) Vice, Bucklin, Kansas.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and 3 sisters, Lois, Joyce & Janice.
Ruth was a nurse and a member of Walnut Hill Mennonite Church. In 1994, she received the Indiana Director of Nursing Award. She loved to color, watch the birds at the feeder, flowers and especially her grandkids.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2023, with the service following at 1 p.m., all at Rieth Rohrer Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Burial will follow at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to MDS, Mennonite Disaster Services.

July 12, 1941 - December 5, 2023
Annie Shirk Brubacher, 82, of Narvon, passed away on December 5, 2023 in her residence. Born in Brecknock Township, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Lydia (Shirk) Brubacher.
She was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference). In her earlier years, she was a teacher and was a caregiver in more recent years. She was a self-taught painter and was very artistic.
Annie is survived by her siblings; Ivan S., husband of Elva W. (Shirk) Brubacher of Narvon, Mabel S., wife of Isaac S. Martin of Newville, Reuben S., husband of Mabel W. (Martin) Brubacher of Narvon, Benjamin S., husband of Joanne (Stauffer) Brubacher of Mohnton, Eva S., wife of Henry H. Stauffer of New Holland, Naomi S., wife of Irvin Z. Brubaker of Narvon and Vera S., wife of Aaron H. Martin of Cerulean, KY and sister-in-law; Anna H. (Nolt) Brubacher of Denver.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters; Mary S. Brubacher and Bertha S. Brubacher and brother; Jesse S. Brubacher.
A Funeral will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 980 Oaklyn Drive, Narvon, PA 17555 with Bishop Leon Zimmerman officiating. July 26, 1929 - March 5, 2023
Brubacher, Edna - Passed away peacefully at Freeport Palliative Care on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the age of 93 years. Born on July 26, 1929 to the late Ivan G. and Mary (Martin) Brubacher. Survived by her sister-in-law, Viola Brubacher and her 12 nephews, nieces and their families.
Predeceased by her siblings, twin brother and sister in infancy, Eldon (2004) (Irla 1997), Leonard (2000), and Luida (1994) (Ian Gingrich 2021). Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at Crystal View Mennonite Church, 2167 Floradale Rd., Floradale. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at Crystal View Mennonite Church followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Florence S. Brubacher, 47 of Thorp, died on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at her home. She was born on March 4, 1976 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania the daughter of Walter N. and Ida M. (Shirk) Hurst. She married Kenneth M. Brubacher on May 13, 1999. The family moved to Wisconsin in March of 2002. She was a member of Groffdale Old order Mennonite Church.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, 11 children, Lydia Ann, Marvin, Cleason, Kenneth, JR, Lucinda, Calvin, Louise, Joseph, Reuben, Emma Jane and Andrew, her parents, Walter and Ada of Morgantown, PA, her siblings, Leroy (Ella) Hurst of Dundee, NY, Elsie (Reuben) Sensenig of North Bangor, NY, Pauline (Lawrence) Martin of Dundee, NY, Catherine (Edward) Horning of Stanley, WI, Naomi Hurst of Morgantown, PA, Ada Mae (Samuel) Nolt of East Earl, PA, Melvin (Linda) Hurst of Morgantown, PA, Marian (Norman) Zimmerman of Shiloh, Ohio, Ina Jane Hurst of Morgantown, PA and Marvin (Lydia) Hurst of Hopkinsville, KY and many nieces and nephews.

Jesse S. Brubacher, 80, of Denver, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Brecknock Township to the late Jesse and Lydia (Shirk) Brubacher and was the husband of Anna H. (Nolt) Brubacher. Jesse worked as a farmer.

Beloved wife of the late Alvin Brubacher (2010).
Loving mother of Gloria and Grant Martin, James and Lorraine Brubacher, Grace Brubacher, Raymond and MaryAnn Brubacher, Elaine and Leslie Gerber, Robert and Dorothy Brubacher, Lucille and Irvin Bearinger, Lloyd and Eunice Brubacher, David Brubacher, Wayne and Darlene Brubacher.
Fondly remembered by her 35 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Sister of Joseph and Elsie Bowman, and sister-in-law of Esther and Edwin Horst, Phyanna and Ralph Reibel, Selina and Howard Gingrich, Cleason and Ina Brubacher, and Marion Brubacher.

Ida Ann Brubacker, 92, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the home of her son, Ralph Brubacker. She was born in Ephrata Township to the late Levi and Ida (Weaver) Martin. She was married to the late Luke Brubacker who died in 2017. They shared 67 years of marriage. She was a member of Stauffer Mennonite Church.
Ida is survived by 12 children, Alice (Rufus) Martin of Vandalia, IL, Ellen (John) Martin of Ephrata, Nancy (late Ivan) Martin of Port Trevorton, Lilly (Irvin) Brubaker of Ephrata, Galen (Sadie) Brubacker of Mifflinburg, Clyde (Judy) Brubacker of Port Trevorton, Erla (Wayne) Brubaker of Port Trevorton, Ralph (Susan) Brubacker of Ephrata, Titus (Marlene) Brubacker of Ephrata, Ray (Delores) Brubacker of Ephrata, Rosene (Levi) Sensenig of Selinsgrove, Kathryn (Gene) Stauffer of Bainbridge, OH; daughter-in-law, Leah Martin of Denver; 90 grandchildren, 328 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Abram Brubaker, Jr., 68, of Manheim died peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Abram and Anna Mae Hess Brubaker. He was the husband of Ruth H. Nissley Brubaker. Abram was attending Park Street Mennonite Church, Elizabethtown.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five children: Delbert Brubaker of Mount Joy, Nathan Brubaker (Wanita), Darnell Brubaker both of Manheim, Merlin Brubaker of Elizabethtown and Lavina Brubaker of Ronks; three grandchildren: Eldon, Glendon and Jiana Brubaker, brother, Herbert Brubaker (Laverna) of Myerstown, two sisters: Mary Louise Moseman (James) of Edmonton, KY, Dolores Brubaker of South Mountain, sister-in-law, Velma Brubaker of Myerstown and two brothers-in-law: Karl Edris of Lebanon and Tom Ritchie of Myerstown. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Brubaker and three sisters: Joyce Edris, Jean Lorraine Ritchie and Susan Marie Brubaker.

Brubaker, Anna B. Hoover
February 25, 1929 - February 24, 2023
Anna B. Brubaker, 93, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, entered into rest on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at her residence.
Born on Feb. 25, 1929, in Earl Township, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Amos N. and Ella K. (Brurkholder) Hoover. On Nov. 24, 1949, she married Elam S. Brubaker, who preceded her in death in May of 1992.
Surviving is a foster daughter, Ruth (Brubaker) Carey, wife of Kyle, of Bloomsburg, who they raised as their own; nieces, Mary Brubaker and Elsie Brubaker with whom she resided; one brother, Amos B. and Pauline Hoover of Ephrata; one brother-in-law, Ivan Hoover of Pennbrook, KY, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lydia Hoover, Ella Martin, and Esther Habegger, and two brothers, Titus B. Hoover and David B. Hoover.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 2 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, at the family residence, 435 Clark Hill Road, Mt. Pleasant Mills, where the family service will be held 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Chapman Old Order Mennonite Church, Black Woods Road, Port Trevorton, with the local ministry officiating.
Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

January 3, 1944 - August 27, 2023
George Brubaker, age 79, of New Holland, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Ephrata Manor. He was the husband of Joan E. Zimmerman Brubaker, celebrating 61 years of marriage on January 13 of this year. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late George and Ruth Shetter Brubaker.
George worked as a mechanic at Brackbills Garage in Intercourse and then Valorbs in Bird-in-Hand. He was a member of New Holland Mennonite Church. He enjoyed crafts, tinkering, building and fixing things.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, P. Douglas husband of Brenda Carrigan Brubaker of Paradise, 2 grandchildren: Rachel wife of Brandon Reiff of Pequea, Jacob Brubaker of Gordonville, 2 great-grandchildren: Megan and Matthew Reiff. He was preceded in death by 4 siblings: John Brubaker, Betty Zook, Harold Brubaker, and Edna Mellinger.
Funeral service will take place at the New Holland Mennonite Church, 18 Western Avenue, New Holland, on Thursday, August 31, at 7:30 p.m. There will be a viewing at the church from 6 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be private in the New Holland Community Cemetery.
Brubaker, Mabel M. Redcay
May 28, 1940 - September 25, 2023
Mabel M. (Redcay) Brubaker, 83, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Ephrata to the late Norman and Sarah (Martin) Redcay and was the wife of Irvin Brubaker, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
Mabel was a member of Akron Community Church. She enjoyed doing puzzles, watching TV and working in the yard.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Stanley R., husband of Cindy (Soltis) Brubaker of York, Merle R. Brubaker of York; four grandchildren, Spencer, Joshua, Kyle, and Chloe; two brothers, Earl, husband of Judy Redcay of Ephrata, Norman, husband of Edith (Eberly) Redcay of Ephrata; two sisters, Ella Mae, wife of Irvin Martin of Lebanon, and Ruth Ann, wife of Aaron Hoover of East Earl.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Abram and Paul Redcay.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 5 to 7 PM, at the Akron Community Church, 613 Main St., Akron. An additional viewing will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 9 to 10:30 AM, at the church, followed by her funeral service at 10:30 AM with Pastor Tim Fleener officiating. Interment will be at Middle Creek Cemetery.

Brubaker, Nevin K.
August 17, 1938 - November 21, 2023
Nevin K. Brubaker passed away peacefully under Hospice care at his home in Landisville on Tuesday November 21, 2023. We celebrate that Nevin is with Jesus. He lived his life to honor God and serve others with a big smile and infectious laugh. Nevin was 85 years old, born on August 17, 1938, the son of Daniel and Helen Brubaker. He was the husband of Mary Brubaker, enjoying 63 years of marriage together.
Nevin is preceded in death by his parents as well as his daughter Brenda, son Ronald, and brother Galen.
Along with his wife Mary, he is survived by his son Steve Brubaker, Steve's wife Devon Brubaker, and grandsons Zachary Brubaker and Caden Brubaker. One of 7 children, he is also survived by his brothers Dr. Kenton Brubaker and Dr. James Brubaker as well as his sisters Eleanor Peifer, Mary Lou Brubaker, and Rachel Horst.
A Celebration of Life service is planned for Sunday December 10, at 4 PM, at East Petersburg Mennonite Church, 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg, PA 17520. The family will receive guests from 2:30 PM until the time of the service. All are invited to a funeral luncheon following the service. Steven R. Brubaker, 46, of Bernville, Berks, Co., died Thursday November 2, 2023 in his home. He was the husband of Lorraine F. (Weaver) Brubaker; father of Destiny N., Dalton M., Ashley L. and April D., all at home.
He was the son of Eugene and Grace (Martin) Brubaker. He was a member of Walnuttown Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference). He was employed by Dutch Country Transport since 2001.
Surviving in addition are a sister Esther (David) Sensenig; brothers Kevin (Lisa) Brubaker; Jerry (Kim) Brubaker, Michael (Louise) Brubaker, Joseph (Karen) Brubaker; In-laws: James and Eva Weaver.
He was preceded in death by a younger brother Milford (1990).
Funeral services will be held Monday November 6th at 9:30 am at Walnuttown Mennonite Church 1214 Pleasant Hill Rd., Fleetwood, PA. Viewing will be on Sunday 1pm-4pm and 6pm to 8pm at Fairview Reception Center 141 Jackson Rd. Lebanon, PA 17042.

Verna M. Brubaker, 88, of Manheim, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 3, 2023. Born in Clay Township, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Naomi Burkholder Boll. She was the loving wife of Samuel B. Brubaker, and they observed their 69th wedding anniversary this past July.
Verna was a member of Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, Lititz and a former member of Erisman Mennonite Church, Manheim. Her interest included quilting, sewing, gardening and she loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband are 5 children: Doris wife of Jay Wenger, Joanne wife of Dennis Wenger both of Annville, Dennis Brubaker of Manheim, Sharon wife of Stan Horning of Evans Mills, NY and Cheryl Johnson of Salunga; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 4 siblings: Martha wife of Marlin Nissley of Lititz, John Boll of Bolivar, NY, Mark Boll of Manheim and Ray Boll of Ephrata. She was preceded in death by 3 siblings: Reba Mae Sensenig, Warren and Paul Boll.

Harry "Nelson" Brunk, 96, passed away Dec. 11, 2023. He was a resident of Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, Va. for the past 10 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Detweiler); his parents, Henry and Nora (Kraus); his sisters, Esther (Norman Loux), Ellen (Griffin), Ruth (Ray Horst), Alma (Leonard Baer) and two brothers, Perry (Fern) and Joseph.
He leaves behind his brother, Henry (Edna Ebersole); sister-in-law, Mary Brunk; and his three children, Carol (Bob Harnish), Judy (Gary Blosser) and Brad (Patti King); his grandchildren, Kate (Ed Plocher) and Jonathan Harnish, Becky (David Werlin) and Shannon Blosser, Rachel (David Woje), Mollee (Brandon Rollin) and Landon (Kia Jefford); and eight great-grandchildren, James Plocher, Sid, Sam and Sophi Werlin, Raelynn, Sage and Judah Woje, and Finley Rollin.
Nelson was born at home in Hyattsville, Md. on Oct. 7, 1927. As a child, he worked with his family to make potato chips and sausage during the Depression. As a young adult he joined the Civilian Public Service cutting trees and building roads. He later delivered feed for a poultry company in Harrisonburg. He was president of Peoples Supply Company in Bladensburg, Md., family business established by his father.
He courted and later married Ruth Detweiler on March 11, 1950. Together they helped start Hyattsville Mennonite Church in Maryland. He and Ruth were deeply committed to Bahia Vista Church in Sarasota, Fla., and Bethel Mennonite Church in Colorado Springs. They gave of their time and skills to Habitat for Humanity where they worked alongside Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter building homes in Mexico. They volunteered in numerous MCC assignments and church camps.
Nelson was a man of many talents. During his adult life he played golf for many years, which expanded his friendships and gave him a place to share his many stories and jokes. His tenor voice gave him the opportunity to sing in men’s quartets. Nelson’s love of family and his strong faith motivated many of his life pursuits. He entertained his children with his wiggling ears, riding a bicycle backwards and jumping over his arm.
He was a gentle, caring, and generous man. All these qualities produced a life well lived; He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service celebrating Nelson’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church.

Kathleen Sharon (McMullan) Brunk, 83, of Harrisonburg, Virginia passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Staunton Post Acute and Rehab Center from Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born on February 10, 1940 and was a daughter of the late Meriweather and Dolly (Trent) McMullan.
Kathleen had worked at Harrisonburg Rockingham Chamber of Commerce and Coldwell Banker Realty and retired. She was a member of Peoples Baptist Church and had attended Harrisonburg Mennonite Church. She used to be a children’s Sunday school teacher and choir member at both churches. She was an avid fan of watching her children and grandchildren participate in their sporting events. She was well know for her encouragement to family and friends to know the Lord as their savior. She loved her children and grandchildren with all of her heart and soul. Her life was based upon her love of God, her country and her family.
Kathleen was united in marriage on October 25, 1958 to Gerald Brunk who preceded her in death on August 26, 2022.
She is survived by her daughter Renee Branner, of Bridgewater; five grandchildren, Aaron (Jennifer Dunn) Brunk, Adam (Brittany Greaver) Brunk, Jarrett Brunk, Jordan (Nessah) Branner, and Alicia Branner; daughters-in-law, Lauren Jefferson, and Donna Brunk, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Ronald Brunk and Randall Brunk; brothers, Randall McMullan, Robert McMullan and John McMullan; sisters, Patricia Jones, Judy Peters and Mary Louise Pizzo.
A service celebrating Kathleen’s life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Harrisonburg Mennonite Church with Pastor Craig Maven officiating.

Carol Darlene (Gaeddert) Burkhart, 89, of Harrisonburg, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Harman House of Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.
Carol Burkhart was born Sept. 15, 1933, in Moundridge, Kan., and was a daughter of the late Albert M. and Edna (Regier) Gaeddert.
She graduated from Bethel College (North Newton, Kan.) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Carol taught elementary school and later became a reading specialist. After raising her daughters, Carol became very actively involved in the antique business, buying and reselling her collections. She specialized in buttons, sewing tools and European hair jewelry and was well known for her beautiful collections. Carol loved classical music and played the piano. She was the church organist at Bethel Mennonite Church in Lancaster, Pa. She was an avid reader, especially books about historical events and mystery novels.
Carol is survived by her husband of 67 years, Donald K. Burkhart; and two daughters, Ann Burkhart (Sacramento, Calif.) and Elizabeth Benbow (Staunton, Va.); her sister, Kathryn Gaeddert (Newton, Kan.); and two grandsons, Jameson Benbow and Liam Benbow (both of San Diego, Calif.).
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Christine Burkhart; and her brother, Dale Gaeddert.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Park View Mennonite Church with Pastors Phil Kniss and Paula Stoltzfus officiating. Family visitation will be after the service at Cline Community Center, Woodland Park Circle, VMRC from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Harriet F. Carpenter Burkhart, 86, from Bird-In-Hand, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 12, at UPMC Lititz after a recent illness. She was the loving wife of Elvin W. Burkhart for 56 years, who preceded her in death in 2014. Born in Bird-in-Hand, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Felpel Carpenter.
Harriet spent 41 years as a waitress at Plain & Fancy Farm. She loved playing games and spending time with her family, as well as creating flower arrangements and crafting. She enjoyed bluegrass music as part of following her husband Elvin's musical career.
Harriet was a member of Stumptown Mennonite Church, where she served alongside her husband Elvin.
She will be lovingly missed by: sons, Larry married to Jennifer Wilson Burkhart, Lancaster, Herb married to Rose Weaver Burkhart, Bird-In-Hand, Glenn married to Sherri Hershey Burkhart, Stevens; grandchildren, Anthony (Stephanie) Burkhart, Kiersie (Andreas) Scherzer, Jenna (Andrew) Butler, Courtney (Joe) Zimmerman, Ethan Burkhart, Jed (Anna) Burkhart, Preston Burkhart, Tyler Wilson, Austin Wilson; 14 great-grandchildren; preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Dawn McGallicher Burkhart.

Lois S. Burkhart, 70, of Lincoln Christian Home, Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was born in Lancaster to the late Thurman and Elizabeth (Stauffer) Burkhart.
She was a member of Denver Mennonite Church.
Lois was a school teacher. She loved playing board games, painting and drawing. She also enjoyed writing stories and articles.
Lois is survived by two sisters, Esther Mae Burkhart, and Kathryn Burkhart, wife of Horst Effenberger.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Burkhart.

Aaron Z. Burkholder, age 92 years 11 months and 17 days, currently of Shiloh, OH and formerly of Fleetwood, PA, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at his home.
Aaron was born November 7, 1930 in Earl Township, Lancaster County, PA, the son of the late Esra Z. and Lydia Z. (Zimmerman) Burkholder. Together with his late wife, Ada, they established Burkholder’s Farm Fresh Produce located east of Fleetwood. He was a member of Fleetwood Old Order Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Survivors include his 9 children: Norman (Mabel) Burkholder of Mertztown, PA, Harvey (Rachel) Burkholder of Shiloh, OH, Elvin (Verna) Burkholder of Shelby, OH, Aaron (Phyllis) Burkholder of Shiloh, OH, Eli (Elsie) Burkholder of Greenwich, OH, John (Verna) Burkholder of Fleetwood, PA, Harold (Dorothy) Burkholder of Shiloh, OH, Mary (Ralph) Zimmerman of Shiloh, OH, and Emory (Ellen) Burkholder of Kutztown, PA; a son-in-law: Harvey Zimmerman of Shelby, OH; 75 grandchildren; 214 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Edna (John) Weaver of Kutztown, PA and Elizabeth (Elmer) Weaver of Fleetwood, PA; a brother: Raymond Burkholder of Edina, MO; and 2 sisters-in-law: Mattie Burkholder and Mary Burkholder. Amanda B. (Kilmer) Burkholder, age 74, of Wakarusa, passed away at 2:33 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at her residence. She was born October 30, 1948 in Narvon, PA to Martin and Mary (Brubacher) Kilmer. On November 23, 1971 she married Levi Burkholder. He preceded her in death October 8, 2013. Amanda was a member of the Old Order Mennonite Church.

Anson Eugene Burkholder, 23, of Maidencreek Township, died as the result of a traffic accident on Route 222 in Maidencreek Township. He was the husband of Elaine B. (Sauder) Burkholder. They were married September 29, 2022. Born in Richmond Township, Anson was a son of Nevin Z. and Stella Z. (Burkholder) Burkholder, Richmond Township. Anson was a member of the Groffdale Conference of Mennonites and attended Fleetwood Mennonite Church, Richmond Township.
Anson was most recently employed as a farmer, however prior, he was employed by Autovent, Oley, as an Agricultural Ventilation Control Assembler and Designer for several years.
In addition to his parents and wife, Elaine, of nearly a year, Anson is survived by a son, Weston S. Burkholder, at home. Other survivors include three brothers: Wilson P. Burkholder; Elias W. Burkholder; and Jeremy O. Burkholder, all at home; five sisters: Emily I. (Burkholder), wife of William S. Hoover, Mertztown; Margaret E. Burkholder; Adena R. Burkholder; Marianne G. Burkholder; and Twyla J. Burkholder, all at home. There are also his Paternal Grandfather and Step Grandmother, Aiden M., husband of Frances Z. (Hoover) Burkholder, Fleetwood; his Maternal Grandparents, Walter W. and Emma L. (Zimmerman) Burkholder, Kutztown. Anson was predeceased by his Paternal Grandmother, Marian M. (Zimmerman) Burkholder.

April was a homemaker and a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.

David O. Burkholder, age 95 of Morgantown, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 16, 2023. Born in Nappanee, IN, he was the son of the late David O. and Amanda (Stutzman) Burkholder and the husband of the late Elva (Kauffman) Burkholder who died in 2016. He was also preceded in death by 11 of his 12 siblings.
He is survived by one sister, Iva Nisly, and two children, Lynn, husband of Lynne (Treichler) Burkholder of Morgantown, PA, Wanita, wife of James O'Donohue of Fleetwood, PA, ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, May 6 with family visitation at 10:30 am. and service at 11:00 am. at Rockville Mennonite Church, 210 Cupola Rd., Honey Brook, PA.

Elmer N. Burkholder, 79, of Leola, died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 25, 2023. A farmer most of his life, he later worked at Sharp Shopper. He was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference). Born in Lancaster County, PA on October 14, 1944, he was the son of the late Samuel R. and Anna Mary (Nolt) Burkholder. He was united in marriage to Mary H. (Martin) Burkholder on Feb. 10, 1966.

(Nolt) Burkholder. A homemaker, she was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference).
Esther is survived by two siblings, Sarah N. wife of the late John Z. Brubacher, Leola, Elmer N. husband of Mary H. (Martin) Burkholder, Leola.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Ivan N., Leroy N., and Willis N. Burkholder; 4 sisters, Martha N., Anna Mary N., Elsie N. Burkholder, and Katie N. Zimmerman; and a stillborn brother. She was followed in death by her brother, Paul N. Burkholder on the morning of February 18, 2023.

James G. Burkholder, 80, of Myerstown, PA, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at his residence. James was born in Lancaster County on August 30, 1942, to the late Levi G. and Anna (Good) Burkholder. He was the husband of Louella H. (Zuck) Burkholder for 53 years. James enjoyed his occupations of farming, carpentry and furniture manufacture, and he took his responsibility to provide for his family very seriously. He was a member of Harmony Christian Fellowship.

Katie J. Burkholder, 92, of LaGrange, died, Sunday morning on October 1, 2023, at 7:40 am, at The Waters of LaGrange.
She was born on April 5, 1931, to John L. and Mary Ann (Burkholder) Mast in Nappanee, IN.
Katie was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
On October 1, 1988, she married Eli Burkholder in Etna Green, IN. He proceeded her in death on April 22, 2008.
Surviving is her step-son, Manas (Sue Ann) Burkholder of LaGrange, IN; a step-daughter, Mary Miller of Seymour, MO; 12 step-grandchildren, 34 step-greatgrandchildren, 11 step-great great grandchildren; a sister Mary Bontrager of Middlebury, IN; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Mast of Etna Green, IN.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; 5 brothers, LeRoy, Emanuel, Marvin, Willis and Eli Mast; 3 sisters, Emma Yoder, Barbara Miller and Gertie Mast; and a step daughter, Martha Shaklee.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the Jonathan Shetler residence, 0475 S 100 E, LaGrange, with Bishop Andy U. Miller and home ministers officiating the services.
Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, LaGrange, IN. Pallbearers will be Lavern Miller, Wilbur Miller, Maynard Miller, Ora Lehman, Joe Hochstetler and Earl Mast.
Visitation will be held at Jonathan Shetler’s after 2pm on Tuesday, October 3rd and all day on Wednesday October 4th.
Burkholder, Martha Naomi Rodes
January 14, 1935 - May 11, 2023
Martha Naomi Rodes Burkholder, 88, of Mount Crawford, Va., passed away peacefully May 11, 2023, at the Heartland Home in Dayton where she had lived since January.
Martha was born in Rockingham County on Jan. 14, 1935. She was a daughter of the late David and Naomi (Koogler) Rodes. On Aug. 30, 1955, she married Earl Pennybaker Burkholder, who preceded her in death Oct. 1, 2007.
She is survived by two daughters, Eva (Keith) Crider of Strasburg and Janet Fleming of Waynesboro, 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sons, Dale Allen Burkholder (wife, Karen who survives), Wayne Edward Burkholder, Olin Atlee Burkholder, and Galen Leon Burkholder; a granddaughter, Carolina Star Burkholder; and a son-in law, Ed Fleming.
She was the ninth of fifteen children. Her surviving siblings are Adin (Verna), Rhoda Bennett (Frank), and Ruby Beachy (Wendell). She was preceded in death by six sisters, Priscilla Beery (Dan), Catherine Rodes, Ruth Martin Groff (Johnny Martin, Walter Groff), Anna Lehman (Joe), Esther Good (Howard), Iva Beachy (survived by Wendell); and five brothers, John (Sadie), Noah (survived by Ada), Aaron (survived by Betty), Joseph (June), and Daniel (Esther).
Martha was a member of Bethany Mennonite Church. Ministers of the church will conduct the funeral at 10:30 on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Bank Mennonite church. Burial will follow in the Bank Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Bank Mennonite Church from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 15.

January 10, 1941 - May 27, 2023
Oscar Lee Burkholder, age 82 of Bremen, IN, died at 1:15 am on May 27, 2023 at Community Hospital of Bremen after a massive heart attack. Oscar was born on January 10, 1941 in Bremen, IN to Edward J. and Clara Lucille (Schmucker) Burkholder. On October 10, 1963 Oscar married Maude Ellen Hochstetler. Oscar was a minister in the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years Maude Burkholder of Bremen; 5 sons: Steven (Ruth) Burkholder of Bremen, Leon (Marlene) Burkholder of Bremen, Howard (Shirlene) Burkholder of Rochester, IN, Mervin (Anita) Burkholder of Claypool, IN, and Joseph (Gloria) Burkholder of Middlebury; 3 daughters: Vera (Norman) Miller of Bremen, Karen (Lloyd) Farmwald of Tulsa, OK, and Anna (Darren) Kemp, Bristol; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Burkholder of Bremen; 49 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Loretta (Eli) Yutzy and Elizabeth (Pheanis) Wickey, both of Bremen.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; son, Edward Burkholder; grandson, Myron Miller; sister, Ina Mullet; and brother-in-law, Joni Mullet.
Visitation will be held after 2 pm on Sunday, May 28, 2023 and all-day Monday, May 29, 2023 at the Dennis Hochstetler Building (2735 Birch Rd, Bremen, IN 46564). A funeral service will also be held at the Dennis Hochstetler building at 9:30 am on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 with home ministries of the Old Order Amish Church officiating. Burial will take place in Weldy Cemetery.
Burkholder, Paul N.
September 28, 1927 - February 18, 2023
Paul N. Burkholder, 95, of Leola, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, at his home following a decline in health.
He was born in Upper Leacock Township to the late Samuel R. and Anna Mary (Nolt) Burkholder and was the husband of the late Frances R. Burkholder who passed away June 27, 2015.
Paul was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference, Leola. He was a farmer in his younger years and later in life until retirement, he owned and operated a wood working shop.
He is survived by his six children, John Z., husband of Mabel (Hoover) Burkholder of Leola, Emma Z. Burkholder at home, Anna Mary Burkholder at home, Ella Z., wife of Enos Hoover of Shippensburg, Ruth Z., wife of Lester Martin of Curtiss, WI, Ina Z., wife of Norman Hoover of Owen, WI; 22 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren and 25 step great-grandchildren; a sister, Sarah Brubacher; a brother, Elmer, husband of Mary Burkholder; two sisters-in-law, Annetta Burkholder and Emma Burkholder.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four infant children, Amos, Norman, Elam and Annetta Burkholder; six grandchildren; three brothers, Ivan, Leroy and Willis Burkholder; five sisters, Esther, Martha, Anna Mary, Elsie Burkholder and Katie Zimmerman; two brothers-in-law, John Brubacher, John Jacob Zimmerman, a stillborn brother; one step grandchild and four great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 5 to 8 PM, at the late residence, 185 Forest Hill Rd., Leola. An additional viewing will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 9 to 10 AM, at the late residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 12:15 PM, from the late residence, with further services at 1 PM, from the Groffdale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference, 90 Groffdale Church Rd., Leola, with Bishops Alvin Hoover, Ammon Burkholder and Ammon Weaver officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Burkholder, Stephen Lyle
April 17, 1961 - August 31, 2023
Stephen Lyle Burkholder, 62, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Ephrata to the late Charles H. and Vera Y. (Herr) Burkholder and was the husband of Brenda J. Burkholder, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage.
Stephen was a handyman with many ongoing building projects, most recently a lovely greenhouse. He was also a seasoned gardener and enjoyed making delicious food and wine to share with his family as well as brewing with his sons. He loved spending time with his 5 grandsons, working at home with his dog, Rocky, and helping his children whenever they needed it. He had a strong faith in God and belief in the life to come. Stephen worked as a truck driver and machine operator for AB Martin.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Matthew A. Burkholder, husband of Renee N.; Michael B. Burkholder, husband of Marcella Marucci; Rebecca B., wife of Nathan T. Jekel; Andrew L. Burkholder, fiancé of Allison Doughton; five grandchildren, John Jekel, Herman Jekel, Raphael Jekel, Simon Burkholder and Joshua Burkholder; and a sister, Anita, wife of Vincent Celline.
A memorial service will be held at Alive Church, 510 Stevens Road, Ephrata, on October 7, 2023 at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Jeff High officiating. A private burial will take place at Groffdale Cemetery. Burkholder, Walter B.
March 31, 1934 - November 19, 2023
Walter B. Burkholder, 89, of New Holland, passed away at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He was married 69 years to Martha H. Good Burkholder. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Chester M. Burkholder and Nora S. Burkholder Weaver.
Walter was a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference. He had been a partner of Good's Store Inc. Walter enjoyed volunteering at Christian Aid Ministries and Meals on Wheels. He also enjoyed gardening. Above all, his strong faith in God and his desire to serve others made him a Godly example and loving husband and father.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons: Barry, husband of Elaine (Zimmerman) Burkholder of Ephrata; Glenn, husband of Rosene (Burkholder) Burkholder of Newmanstown; and Clinton, husband of Grace (Weaver) Burkholder of East Earl; four daughters: Mary Ann, wife of Kenneth Burkholder of Gordonville; Judy, wife of Richard Burkholder of East Earl; Susan, wife of Allen Burkholder of Ephrata; and Nora Jane, wife of Melvin Zimmerman of Ephrata; a daughter-in-law, Anna Mary (Huber) Burkholder of Denver; 53 grandchildren; 109 great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Burkholder husband of Edith (Stauffer) Burkholder of Ickesburg, and a sister-in-law, Elva Burkholder of Peach Bottom. He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Burkholder; grandchildren: Seth Burkholder, Amber Burkholder and Jayden Zimmerman; brothers: Delmas and Chester Burkholder; a stepfather James S. Weaver, three stepbrothers and a stepsister.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 27, at 10:00 AM at the Churchtown Mennonite Church, 2207 Main Street, Narvon, PA with Bishop Leon Zimmerman officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewings will be held at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Road, Ephrata, PA on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. May 29, 1945 - December 13, 2023
John D. Byler 78, of 8337 TR 562 Holmesville, Ohio died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. He had a lengthy illness and was lovingly cared for by his wife.
John was born May 29, 1945 in Holmes County to the late David Y. and Susie (Miller) Byler. He was the beloved husband of Anna (Hilty) Byler. They were united in matrimony on August 27, 1970 and shared 53 years of marriage. He was a member of the Old Order Church. John worked for Raymond Patterson (farming) for many years and later worked for Holmes Supply.
He is survived by his wife, Anna and their six children, Jerome (Edna) Byler of PA, Susan (Roy) Kauffman of Loudonville, Jeremiah (Barbara) Byler of Stonecreek, Marvin (Mandy) Byler of Holmesville, Melvin (Claire) Byler of Killbuck and Elsie (Ervin) Hostetler of the home; grandchildren Reuben (Dora), Jonathan (Irene), Edwin (Katherine), LeAnna, Deborah, Josiah (Norma), Leander, Kyle, Beka (Mark), Leon, Jaden, Joshua, Breanna, Brodie, Kianna, Jade, Brandon, Miranda and Makayla, three great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter; two brothers Joas (Martha) Byler of Fredericksburg and Joe (Martha deceased) Byler of Benton; three sisters, Mary (Mose deceased) Shetler of Fredericksburg, Susie (Jonas) Nisley of Loudonville and Nancy (Tobias) Miller of Fredericksburg; sisters-in-law, Mary Byler of Wooster and Anna Byler of Fredericksburg; brother-in-law William Bender of Middlefield and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
He was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, his parents, his brother, Jake Byler, sisters, Anna Bender and Katie Byler, seven half-brothers and his in-laws, Menno and Kate Ann Hilty.
Calling hours and funeral services will be held at the Ervin Troyer residence 8941 TR 564 Holmesville, Ohio. Funeral Services will be Saturday December 16, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. with Bishop Leroy Hershberger officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday after 2 p.m. and anytime of Friday. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Prairie Township Holmes County.
Pallbearers will be, Andy Shetler, Uriah Hostetler, Jason Chupp, and Leroy Miller. Murray Funeral Home of Fredericksburg is assisting the Byler Family with the arrangements. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to LifeCare Hospice for all the love, care, and support that was given.
