YODER - Lydia (Miller) Yoder
, a daughter of William K. and Anna (Brenneman) Miller, was born Dec. 25, 1884, near Parnell, Iowa; and died Oct. 17, 1971, near Kalona, Iowa, at the age of 86 years, 9 months, and 22 days.
On Dec. 19, 1909, she was united in marriage to William S. Yoder, who was later ordained Bishop. He preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1971, (see Feb. issue), after having lived in matrimony over 61 years.
In her youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour, and united with the Old Order Amish Church, remaining a faithful member, and also a faithful helpmeet to her bishop husband. They had no children of their own, but her nieces and nephews, and other children, always found a ready welcome in their home. Truly a virtuous woman, her price is far above rubies.
She is survived by only one sister, Anna (Mrs. Harvey Bender), thirteen nieces, seventeen nephews, and a host of other more distant relatives and friends.
What is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanishes away.
Funeral services were held in the home of her nephew, Ben L. Yoder, Riverside, Iowa, conducted by Glenn Bender and Elmer T. Miller in the house, and Enos C. Swartzentruber and Jonas J. Beachy in the barn.
