   OVERHOLT, Sovilla Chupp;  


OVERHOLT. - Sovilla (Chupp) daughter of Samuel E. and Mary (Miller) Chupp was born June 2, 1887, in Elkhart County, Ind.; and passed away July 1, 1973, at the home of her son Samuel near Kalona, Iowa: at the age of 86 years and 29 days. Sovilla suffered illness the past year, due to a stroke July 9, 1972, and a second stroke on June 17, 2 weeks before her death. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in her youth and became a member of the O. O. Amish Church. On Oct. 23, 1913, she was united in marriage to John A. Overholt, living in matrimony nearly 60 years. They moved from Kansas to Kalona, Iowa, in 1926. To this union were born six children. Her husband and three children survive: Samuel J., Kalona, Iowa; John Jr., Des Moines, Iowa; and Susie, Mrs. Edward E. Miller of Grandin, Mo. Also 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grand-children. Preceding her in death were two sons. Dan and Eli, and one daughter, Elizabeth, Mrs. Jerry Mast of Indiana. Also surviving are four brothers and one sister: Noah and Jake of Goshen, Ind., Mose, Sturges, Mich, Eli, Elkhart, Ind., and Mrs. Jake (Barbara) Mast, Kalona, Iowa. Services were held in the Sam Overholt Home on July 4, 1973. Burial in North Gingerich Cemetery near Kalona.
