JESS, Lester L.;
JESS.
- Lester L., son of Levi and Anna (Hostetler) Jess, was born May
15, 1928, near Arthur, Ill., died in his home Oct. 2, 1976, of cancer
on the brain, at the age of 48 years, 4 months and 17 days. He was
ordained deacon in the Old Order Amish Church of which he was a member.
On Nov. 2, 1950, he was married to Katie Herschberger, living in
matrimony 25 years and 11 months. He leaves to mourn his departure his
deeply bereaved wife and four sons and four daughters: Mrs. Willis
(Viola) Plank, Mrs. LaVern (Lorena) Hochstetler, and Elva, all of
Arthur, Ill.; Elsie, Chris, Reuben, Ella Louise, and Glenn Ray, all at
home, and eight grandchildren, also two brothers, Ervin and John, four
sisters, Mrs. Henry (Gertrude) Schrock, Mrs. Ervin (Mattie) Yoder, Mrs.
Reuben (Edna) Yoder, Mrs. Ura (Sarah) Herschberger, all of Arthur,
Ill., area. He was preceded by his parents and one brother. Services
were held on the home farm on Oct. 5, by Min. Allen M. Miller of
Middlebury, Ind., and Min. Andy A. Herschberger of Kokomo, Ind. Burial
in Yoder Cemetery southeast of Arthur. Ill.
