GINGERICH,
John D.;
GINGERICH.-
John D., son of Daniel D. and Catherine (Miller) Gingerich, was
born Feb. 8, 1889. Died Dec. 27, 1979, at the age of 90 years, 10
months and 19 days. He passed away peacefully in his home in Kalona,
from old age and a heart condition, after having been bed-fast for five
weeks. He was born in Washington County, and lived his entire life in
the Kalona vicinity. He accepted Christ as his Saviour in his youth and
united with the Old Order Amish Church, remaining faithful to the end.
On Feb. 1, 1916, he was married to Amanda Miller who preceded him in
death Feb. 19, 1935. To this union were born two children Lloyd Vernon,
who died before he was five years old, and Susanna who survives.
On May 23, 1937, he was united in mar-riage to Anna Mast, who survives.
To this union was born one son, David, who also survives, also 10
grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Henry H. (Mary Pearl) Miller. He
was preceded by three brothers, Julius, Benedict, and an infant
brother. Services were held in the Glen Beachy home by Bishop Henry B.
Miller and Bishop Enos S. Troyer of Goshen, Ind. In the small house by
Min. Fred J. Yoder of Milton, Ia., and David J. Stutzman of Pulaski,
Ia. Burial in the South Gingerich Cemetery.
