Gongwer, Willis L.;
Gongwer, Willis L., 90 of 308 Kansas Drive, Goshen, IN passed
away Saturday, April 10,1993 at 8:30 p.m. at Miller's Merry Manor,
Wakarusa, where he had been a resident one day. He had been in failing
health for the past year.
He was born July 28,1902 in Olive Twp., Elkhart Co., In. to Albert
Gongwer and Salome (Yoder) Gongwer. He was married to Treva F.
Hunsberger on August 9,1926 who survives along with 1 daughter, Mrs.
Lois Miller of Naples, Florida; 3 sons, Carl of Elkhart; Wayne of
Goshen, Richard of Marion, In. 10 Grandchildren; 9 greatgrandchildren.
2 sisters; Grace Baer and Florence Blosser, 3 brothers: Maurice,
Vernon, Walter; 1 grandson; l great-grandson preceded him in death.
He was a farmer in Harrison Twp., until 1953 and then worked in the
Parts Dept. of Goshen Implement Co. retiring in 1979. He was a member
of Bethel Missionary Church, where he had been a senior deacon for many
years.
Visitation was held April 13, 1993, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart in
Wakarusa. Funeral Services were at the Bethel Missionary Church, April
14, 1993. Dr. G. G. Waun, Superintendent of N. Central District of the
Missionary Church & Rev. Byron Maynard of Gospel Echoes Missionary
Church of Goshen officiated. Burial was in Olive (East), Elkhart
County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missionary
Church
for Missions.
