Hartzler, Irene Mayercik

GOSHEN — Irene M. Hartzler, 86, of 1506 Greencroft Drive, died at 6:05 a.m. Friday (Dec. 12, 1997) in Greencroft Nursing Center.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1911, in Chicago. She married Levi C. Hartzler on Sept 23, 1989, in Chicago.
He survives with one daughter, Mrs. Dwight (Carol) Grieser of Goshen; a son, Ronald L. Hartzler of Hesston, Kan.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Lodo (Julia) Habrle of Florida.
Two sisters, Mildred Chalcoff and Sue Anderson; and one brother, John Mayercik, are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church, where the memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Firman Gingerich and the Rev. Nancy Kauffmann will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hartzler was a retired medical records secretary and a member of College Mennonite Church, where she had been active with the Women’s Missionary Society and the Service Commission.
Memorials may be given to the Greencroft Foundation or College Mennonite Church children’s ministry fund.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel A. Oberholzer Horst, whom he married on July 19, 1947; one daughter, Carolyn Y. Meyer of Parker, Colo.; two sisters, Kathryn Christ of Lancaster, Pa., and Beulah Horst of Menno Village, Chambersburg, PA; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
A memorial service was June 4, 1997 at Cedar Grove Mennonite Church. The Rev. Nelson Martin, Chaplain Vernon Isner and the Rev. Robert Cahill will officiate.
Burial was in the Cedar Grrove Mennonite cemetery, Greencastle, PA.
