Mary was a former member of Pilgrim Mennonite Church, Grantville, Pa.  She was a homemaker.

Delilah Anna

Delilah Anna Seiler, 87, died in her Auburn, Ind. home, Friday, Aug. 23, 2002.
           
Born in Henry County, Ohio on Dec. 28, 1914, she was a daughter of Silas and Sarah (Frey) Liechty. She married Ralph Seiler in 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1997.
           
She was a lifelong homemaker and a member of the North Leo Mennonite Church, Leo, Ind.

Surviving are five sons, Ed (Carol) Seiler; Larry (Donna) Seiler, Roland(Teresa) Seiler, and Ralph (Charlene) Seiler, Auburn; and Ronald (Michelle) Seiler, Spencerville, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jesse Liechty and Reuben Liechty, Spencerville; and Richard Liechty; Fort Wayne; three sisters, Mildred Graber,  Archbold; Mary Stuckey, Spencerville; and Ruth Shue, Sarasota, Fla.
           
Services were yesterday, Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the church. Doug Zehr was the officiating pastor. Burial was in Leo Memorial Park Cemetery.

Martin amd Ministers Lester Souder, Walter Zimmerman, and Wilmer Martin officiating.  Interment in adjoining Church cemetery.

Born: 7-23-1919, Millersville, Lancaster County, Pa.  Died: 11-1-2002, Lititz, Lancaster County, Pa.

Daughter of: Benjamin N. and Laura Haverstick Shertzer.  Survivors:  Sisters, Hilda H. (Noah M.) Brubaker of Lewisburg, Pa., and Susan H. Shertzer of the Mennonite Home, Lancaster, Pa. Brothers, Benjamin H. (Edith) Shertzer of Millersville, Pa., and Raymond H. (Marian) Shertzer of Earlington.

Miss Shertzer was a member of Millersville Mennonite Church and Sunday School.  She was a homemaker and a volunteer worker for the Re-Uzit Shop, Columbia, Pa.

Services: Millersville Mennonite Church, 437 Manor Blvd, Millersville, on Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Delbert L. Kautz, Bishop Abram H. Charles, and Pastor Donald W. Good officiating.  Burial in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.

, Berniece Maust

Berniece Short, 91, Archbold, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in her home.
           
Born May 27, 1910, near Goshen, Ind., she was a daughter of Douglas and Amanda (Martin) Maust.  She married Henry E. Short on Oct. 24, 1946, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1985.
           
A resident of the Archbold area since 1946, she moved to the village in 1983.  She was a homemaker, a charter member of Zion Mennonite Church.
           
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Anna Marie) Dinius, Archbold; and Mrs. Dick (Jane Louise) Yoder-Short, Kalona, Iowa; nine grandchildren; one brother, Herb (Rosemary) Maust, Goshen; and one sister, Anabel Hartman, Elkhart, Ind.
           
Services were today, Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the Zion Mennonite Church.  Jeff Wintermote and Mons Sauder officiated.  Burial followed at the Pettisville Cemetery.

Erma J. Short
, 84, Wauseon, died Sunday, June 23, 2002, at the Fulton County Health Center,
Wauseon, where she was admitted Friday, having been in failing health.
           
Born June 22, 1918, near Holsopple, Pa., she was a daughter of Emory and Lucinda (Lehman) Holsopple, and married Elden Short on June 12, 1943. A resident of the Wauseon area since 1946, she was a homemaker, and worked in housekeeping at the Heller Memorial Hospital, Napoleon, for 15 years before retiring in 1986.  She was a member, of the West Clinton Mennonite Church, near Pettisville.
           
Surviving are her husband, Elden who resides at Fulton Suites, Wauseon; five sons, Leon (Janice) Short, Archbold; Richard (Pamela) Short, Pettisville; Robert G. (Sara) Short, Wauseon, James (Mary Jo) Short and Eugene (Rebekah) Short, Goshen, Ind.; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Darlene) Ramon, Amelia, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Elvin (Rena) Holsopple, Holsopple, Pa.; Paul (Julie) Holsopple, Sarasota, Fla.; Samuel (Ida) Holsopple, Pettisville;· and Emery (Mary) Holsopple, Goshen, Ind.
           
Memorial services are today, Wednesday, 3:30 p.m. at the West Clinton Mennonite Church.  James Roynon, Edward Diener, and Jeff Shull are the officiating pastors. Burial will precede the service at the Pettisville Cemetery.

Slatter, Clifford
January 11, 1924 - May 31, 2002

Clifford Slatter lived in Filer, Idaho for most of his life but his education, Civilian Public Service, and sense of adventure took him to many places in the world. He was born at his parent's home near Filer on January 11, 1924. He died at the age of 78 on Friday, May 31, 2002 at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center.

He married Grace Friesen on May 25, 1947 in Greensburg, Kansas. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

Clifford taught school at Twin Falls High School, worked as a financial advisor for Waddell and Reed, and owned and operated the Lazy A Motel in Arco in his retirement after farming for most of his life. He was an active member of the Filer Mennonite Church where he served as deacon, taught Bible School and Sunday School and was otherwise involved in many ways. He was a hiker, a philosopher, a tinkerer and an adventurer. He loved the Lord and his wife and family. He was curious, playful, loyal, caring and made every effort to be involved in his grandchildren's activities and education. He characteristically overcame life's difficulties with humor and dignity.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Joe and Edna Slatter and one grandson, Lowell Jacob "Jakie" Slatter.

Surviving are his wife, Grace Slatter of Filer, Idaho, and five children: Virginia Buerge of Yukon Territories, Canada, Pat Losser of Filer, Idaho, Lowell Slatter of Dayton Ohio, Evelyn Slatter of Seoul, South Korea and Lois Hooley of Filer, Idaho; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Buerge, Hannah Kimball, John Buerge, Jessica Seely Michael Buerge, Emmeli and Rachel Slatter and Becky, Isaac, Andy and Sarah Hooley and five great-grandchildren, Jesse, Nathan and David Kimball and Ryan and Daniela Buerge. Also surviing are his brother, Carl Slatter of El Cajon, California and sisters, Letha Gingerich of Mountain Home, Idaho, Beulah Miller of Eagle, Idaho, Florence Sheridan of Filer, Idaho and Iola Lind of Canon City Colorado.

Funeral services for Clifford will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at the Filer Mennonite Church 109 5th, Filer ID. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call at White Mortuary on Monday, June 3, from noon to 5 pm. The family suggests memorials be given to the Filer Mennonite Church building fund.

Mary Liechty Schmucker
*, 85, Goshen, Ind., died Sunday , May 26, 2002, at Greencroft Healthcare.
           
Born Jan. 12, 1917, at home near pettisville, she was the daughter of Joseph C. and Emma (Frey) Liechty. She married Ernest E. Smucker in Archbold on Aug. 30, 1941, and he preceded her in death.
           
She graduated from Pettisville High School and received a registered nurse degree at La Junta, Colo.,. and earned her bachelor's of science in nursing from Goshen College.
           
Her family lived in Fisher. Ill., Evanston, IlL, and finally settled in Goshen, Ind.
           
In 1976 she along with her husband spent a year in Nav Jivan Hospital in India.
           
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John (Elaine) Harley; Goshen; Mrs Michael (Julia) Baccash, Evanston, Ill.;, and Mrs. Dan (Mary) Lemons, Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.; four sons, Jon (Jan) Smucker, Goshen;. Ernest Craig Smucker, Larned, Kans.; Mark (Vicki) Smucker, Granger, Ind.; and Pau1Smucker, Bloomington, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine Wyse, Archbold; and four brothers, Herman, Harold, Wayne, Archbold; and Russel Liechty, Goshen.
           
A memorial service was held Thursday, May 30, 11 a.m. at Colllege Mennonite Church. Burial in Violett Cemetery preceding the service.

Stahl, Willis "Bill" Leroy

WEST UNITY - Willis "Bill" Leroy Stahl, 84, West Unity, died Wednesday [April 17, 2002] morning in Community Hospital of Williams County-Bryan.

He was born Feb. 21, 1918, in Fairview, Mich., the son of Charles and Esther (Reber) Stahl. In 1945, he married Agnes Kathleen Prough, who survives. He was a mechanic and maintenance employee at Lugbill Brothers Corp., Archbold, for 42 years. He was a member of Salem Mennonite Church, Waldron, Mich., and served in the Civilian Public Services in Iowa during World War II.

Also surviving are a daughter, Joyce Yoder, West Unity; a brother, Carl, Pigeon, Mich.; two sisters, Priscilla Harrison of Standish, Mich., and Alene Rabold, Lawrenceville, Ga.; and a grandson.

Preceding him in death were two sons, Wendell and Gary.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Lockport Mennonite Church, Stryker, with Wilmer Hartman, Brad Faler and Ned Wyse officiating. Burial will be in Lockport Cemetery, Stryker. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Handling arrangements is Hollingshead Funeral Home, West Unity.

Preferred memorials are to Salem Mennonite Church, Gideons International or a charity of the donor's choice.

Zion Mennonite Church, Birdsboro, Pa.  Congregational oversee For Conestoga Mennonite Church, Morgantown, Pa. and in other Atlantic Coast Conference churches in Pa., Maryland and Virginia.  He was Pa. coordinator for Growing Families International.

Before entering ministry he operated Dave's Amish Bake Shop In Allentown, Pa.

He was a retired farmer, and meat dept. manager of Leaman Store.  He And Elizabeth operated a Tourist Home for 20 years.

Surviving are four sisters, Sadie Stoltzfus, of Gordonville, Ann Smucker of Lancaster, Miriam Stoltzfus of Gap, and Priscilla (John O.) Stoltzfus of Leola; and four brothers, Ben and Amos of Intercourse, Pa., Dan (Marjorie) Stoltzfus of Mt. Joy, and David (Linda) Stoltzfus of Highland Park, Kansas.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Priscilla Knutsen and three brothers, Samuel, John and Aaron.

Services held at Weavertown Amish-Mennonite Church, 2900 Church Road, Bird-In-Hand, Pa. at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2002.  John Lapp and Aaron Lapp officiated.  Burial in adjoining cemetery.

Orville D. "Shorty"

Orville D. "Shorty" Stuckey. 85, Archbold, died Wednesday morning, April 24, 2002, at the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, where he was admitted Friday.
           
Born June 21, 1916, near Archbold, he was a son of Peter J. and Anna (Short) Stuckey, and married Sadie Heishman on Oct. 12, 1944. A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he was a retired farmer, and a Gutwein Seed Dealer for over 50 years. He was a charter member of the Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.
           
Surviving are his wife, Sadie; two sons, Terry (Anne) Stuckey, Somerset, Mich.; and Randy Stuckey, Archbold; one daughter, Jane Stuckey, Wauseon; two grandchildren; one brother, Chauncey (Pearl) Stuckey, Archbold; and one sister, Mary Stuckey, Archbold.
           
Services were Saturday, 10;30 a.m. at the church. Allen Rutter, Mark Miller, and Anne Stuckey were the officiating pastors. Burial followed in the Lockport Cemetery.

Ray was a custodian for the Elizabethtown School System.  He formerly worked for the former Gerbrich-Payne Shoe Company in
Mt. Joy, Pa.   He was a member of Elizabethtown Mennonite Church and the 60 plus fellowship group.

Services: Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, 300 S. Spruce Street, Elizabethtown, Pa. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with
Pastor Conrad Kanagy and Pastor John M. Myers officiating.  Interment in Elizabethtown Mennonite Cem.

Swartzentruber, Raymond
April 11, 1918 - August 10, 2002

Swartzentruber, Raymond, 84, of Millersburg, Ohio, died Aug. 10, 2002, at the Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg, following a short illness. He was born April 11, 1918, in Holmes County to Abner J. and Elizabeth (Hershberger) Swartzentruber. On Nov. 30, 1939, he married Anna Stutzman and she survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are five children and their spouses, Betty and Abe Mast of Millersburg, Joan and Jacob Mast of Walnut Creek, David and Irene Swartzentruber of Benton, Elsie and Wallace Sommers Jr. of Millersburg and Wanda and Dave Byler of West Jefferson; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four brothers and their spouses, Alvin and Sarah Swartzentruber of Dalton, Ivan and Geneva Swartzentruber of Wooster, Eli and Lula Swartzentruber of Berlin and Junior and Fannie Swartzentruber of Berlin, and three sisters and their spouses, Verna and Emmanuel Weaver of Holmesville, Erma and David Stutzman of Sugarcreek and Viola and Emmanuel Barkman of Fredericksburg.

Funeral services were Aug 10, 2002 at the Gospel Haven Church, Benton, with the Rev. Levi Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Conservative Mennonite Church Cemetery.
