Bates, John Raymond, 84, of Star City, Lincoln Co., Ark. died November 21, 2004 at Pine Bluff, Jefferson Co., Ark.
He was born July 16, 1920 at Star City, Ark. to Jessie Gerome and Mittie Mae (Mullikin) Bates. Jessie was born November 5, 1884 and died June 8, 1968. Mittie was born October 13, 1891 and died March 31, 1971.
He was married in Lincoln Co., Ark. to Trudy Erwin, who was born December 16, 1931 and survives.
Surviving are children, Terry L. (Debbie) Bates, and Sherry A. (Michael) Johnson, two grandchildren, and a brother, Herman Bates.
Four brothers, Thomas Bates, Ralph Bates, Robert E. Lee Bates, and George Francis Bates, and two sisters, Helen Beatrice Bates, and Maybelle (Hobert) Kimbrell preceded him in death.
He was a member of Assembly of God Church. Served in Army Air Corps during WWII. Worked for Ben Pearson Archery Company at Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Levi Strauss and School Apparel at Star City, Arkansas before retiring.
Memorial services were held November 23, 2004 at Griffin Funeral Chapel, Star City, Ark. with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Beachy, Lavern Ray, 22, Colby, Wisconsin, died July 31, 2004, as a result of a farm accident. He was born Sept. 5, 1981, in Marshfield, WI to Larry and Ellen [nee Zimmerman] Beachy.
He farmed in the Dominican Republic with his parents and in the Colby area.
Survivors include his parents, Larry and Ellen Beachy, Dominican Republic; his brothers and sisters, Rosetta Beachy, Karen Beachy, Titus Beachy, Timothy Beachy, Maryann Beachy, Rachel Beachy, Stephen Beachy, and Elmer Beachy, all of the Dominican Republic; his grandparents, Marlin and Joanne Zimmerman, Unity, and Elmer and Millie Beachy, Sarasota, Fla.; his great-grandparents, Mervin and Fannie Baer, British Columbia.
Funeral services were August 4, at the Unity Mennonite Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Brubaker, Anna Laura Stauffer
PORT TREVORTON - Anna Laura Brubaker,
94, formerly of RR2, Port Trevorton, and most recently of Penn Lutheran
Village, Selinsgrove, where she had resided for the past two years,
entered into eternal rest at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, in the
emergency room of Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Jan. 13, 1910, at Port Trevorton, the daughter of the late
Elias and Anna (Heim) Stauffer. On Oct. 15, 1929, she married Robert J.
Brubaker, who preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1974.
Mrs. Brubaker was educated at the Upper Herrold's grammar schoolhouse
at Port Trevorton.
She was employed at Groce's Silk Mill, Port Trevorton and by Doctor's
convalescent Home (now Penn Lutheran Village), Selinsgrove.
Mrs. Brubaker was a member of the Crossroads Mennonite Church,
Richfield.
She loved her family and her home. Her family remembers her cracking
walnuts in her home in the winter months.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Harvey L. Gehman and his
wife Eloise "Mickey" of RR2, Port Trevorton; one granddaughter, Karen
L. Moyer and her husband Robert A. of RR2, Port Trevorton; three
great-grandchildren, Jeremiah A. Moyer, Joshua R. Moyer and Jenny L.
Moyer; four great-great-grandchildren, Sarah Kleckner, Rachel Moyer,
Hallie Moyer and Logan Moyer; one brother, Harvey Stauffer and his wife
Martha of Muncy; one sister, Aretta Spriggle of Selinsgrove; and four
generations of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Samuel, Grant, Carson and
Henry Stauffer and three sisters, Jenny Shaffer, Carrie Stauffer and
Lena Reinard.
Friends and family may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at George P.
Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills and from 10 to 10:30 a.m.
Thursday at Crossroads Mennonite Church, Richfield, where the funeral
will follow at 10:30 with ministers, Orval C. Graybill and Timothy
Lauver officiating.
Burial will follow in Susquehanna Mennonite Church Cemetery, RR1, Port
Trevorton.
The family respectfully requests no flowers. Memorial gifts may be

Brubaker, Anna Mary. 86, of Lancaster, PA. died July 25, 2004
at her home. She was born in Strasburg, PA to George R. and Mary
Lefever Lefever. She was married 62 years to John David "J.D." Brubaker
whom survives.
A member of the Willow Street Mennonite Church.
Surviving are a son John & Anna Lois Miller Brubaker of Port Royal,
PA; daughters, Dorothy Jean Pearce of Houston, TX, Mary Jane & Roy
Myers of Greensburg, PA, Lillian & Doug Gehr of Pottstown, PA and
Eleanor Rose Landis of Viroqua, WI. Also 16 grandchildren, 5 great
grandchildren and a sister Ethel Sirk of Lisbon, MD.
She was preceded in death by grandson Bobby Brubaker, by brothers
Mylin, Charles and Clarence Lefever and sisters Margie Stoltzfus, and
Ruth and Grace Lefever.

Burkholder, Betty Ann Martin, 62, of 3292 Koogler Road in Dayton, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at her home. She had been in failing health for four years.
Mrs. Burkholder was born Oct. 16, 1941, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late John H. and Eva M. Rohrer Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church.
On Jan. 29, 1964, she married Vernon H. Burkholder, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Sue Ann Wenger and Martha Koogler, both of Bridgewater and Margaret Rhodes of Dayton; a brother, Kenneth R. Martin of Dayton; and 19 grandchildren.
Bishop Lloyd Wenger and the ministers of the church will conduct the funeral 10 a.m. Thursday at the Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Her body has been taken to her home, where friends may call until 8 p.m. today.
Arrangements are by McMullen Funeral Home.
