Mr. Heistand was a member of Risser's Mennonite Church in Elizabethtown where he was a trustee for many years. He also served as treasurer of Risser's Cemetery Association for 32 years. Mr. Heistand was a former member of PA Farmers' Association.
Survived by: his wife, Mary Siegrist Heistand of Manheim; two sons, George D., husband of Sandra L. Collins Heistand of Bainbridge, and J. Lester, husband of Elizabeth K. Kreider Heistand of Manheim; a daughter, Elsie A., wife of Jay E. Witman of Lancaster; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; two brothers, Brinser B., husband of Janet Lehman Heistand of Rheems, and Ira B., husband of Barbara Martin Heistand of Elizabethtown.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth B. Hynicker, and Anna E. Martin.
A funeral service was October 16, 2004 at Chiques Church of the Brethren, Manheim, with Pastors Ralph G. Ginder, Gerald M. Heistand, Larry E. Ginder, and James S. Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in Risser's Mennonite Cemetery, Elizabethtown, PA

GOSHEN -- Ernest R. Hoover, 82, of 24654 C.R. 32, died at 10:40 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 13, 2004) in his home. He had been ill with cancer since January.
He was born June 29, 1922, in Goshen to Warren and Nettie (Martin) Hoover. He married Lizzie Lucile Martin on Jan. 25, 1948. She survives, along with six daughters, Mrs. Henry (Elaine) Martin, Ethel Hoover and Mrs. Dean (Vera) Witmer, all of Goshen, Mrs. David (Edna) Miller and Mrs. Wayne (Elsie) Martin of Sanilac County, Mich., and Mrs. Ronald (Rita) Martin of Nappanee; two sons, LaVerne (Virginia) Hoover of Goshen and Marlin (Berdena) Hoover of Elkhart; 54 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Esther J. Schrock of Goshen, Florence Hoover of Elkhart and Carol Hoover of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by a son, Loren, on Oct. 24, 1986; a great-granddaughter, Roselyn Nusbaum; four brothers, infant Adin Hoover, Arthur Hoover, Martin Hoover and Joseph Hoover; and a sister, Martha May Hoover.
Friends may call at the family home between C.R. 11 and C.R. 13 from 2 to 8 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the funeral at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church. Home Ministry is in charge of the service. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Cemetery. Westbrook-Metz & Clouse Funeral Home, Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Martin was a dairy farmer and in his later years enjoyed working in the woods, cutting firewood and cooking maple syrup. He graduated from Concord High School in 1940. He was baptized in the Wisler Mennonite Church in his youth and was a faithful member of the Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to Christian Aid Ministries, P.O. Box 360, Berlin, OH 44610-0360, or Care at Home/Hospice Program, Goshen General Hospital, 200 Park Ave., Goshen, IN 46526.

Horst, Stanley M., 78, of 13323 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, MD died Saturday, June, 5, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 9, 1925, in Clear Spring, MD, he was the son of the late Ephriam and Anna Mary Martin Horst.
He was a farmer for 21 years.
He was a member of Mount Olive Mennonite Church near Maugansville, MD.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Horst Horst, whom he married Nov. 25, 1949; three daughters, Martha A. Strite of Clear Spring, Ella R. Horst of Maugansville and Thelma J. Martin of Hagerstown; one son, Eldon Horst of Harrisonburg, Va.; two sisters, Mary Horst of Waynesboro, Pa., and Hettie Ebersole of Hagerstown; one brother, Amos Horst of Sarasota, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandsons.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Mount Olive Mennonite Church, Maugansville. Bishops Glenn Martin and Duane Eby and the Rev. Ira Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the services Wednesday.
The family requests the omission of flowers and that memorial donations be made to his granddaughter's mission work in Sudan at African Christians Missions, P.O. Box 1862, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Survied by her parents, and two daughters, Nancy and Jenna Hostetler of Snow Hill; four brothers and their spouses, Paul and Anna Hostetler of Dalton, Ohio, Maynard and Mary Hostetler of Snow Hill, Bennie and Miriam Hostetler of Benton, Ohio, and Nathan Hostetler of Snow Hill; three sisters and their spouses, Ida Mae and Leon Overholt of Minerva, Ohio, Lois and Lamar Ropp of Mission Home, Va., and Christina and James Kurtz of Snow Hill; 15 nieces; 15 nephews; nine great-nieces and nephews; and several cousins. During the last several years she was a foster mother and a day-care provider for several dear children. Her desire was that her daughters would know the ways of God and that her life would be lived to the glory of God.
Funeral service was April 4, 2004 at Snow Hill Mennonite Church, The Rev. James Kurtz will officiate. Interment was in Snow Hill Mennonite Church Cemetery in Snow Hill, Maryland.

At age 7 he moved with his family to Ohio. In 1941, he moved to Virginia. Later he lived in Hickory, N.C., Sarasota, Fla. and Waynesboro, Ga., where he was active in church - mission work. After retiring, he returned to Harrisonburg in 1999. He was a member of the Peake Mennonite Church.
Survived by his wife, Naomi and three daughters, Esther Eshelman of Stuarts Draft, Va., Janet Hartzler of Dublin and Norma Jean Rolin of Atmore, Ala.; one son, Virgil Huber of Augusta; two brothers, Aaron Huber of Waynesboro, Va. and Daniel Huber of Harrisonburg; and 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Jan. 31, 2004 at the Pike Mennonite Church, with Howard Brubaker, James Goering, Elam Heatwole, Nathan Horst and Jay Rohrer conducting the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Hummer, Mary Eva Kuhns
Mary E. Hummer, 94, formerly of 860 Stouffer Ave., Chambersburg, died on Sunday, March 21, 2004, in ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg. Born Oct. 12, 1909, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Kuhns and Martha (Horst) Kuhns Ebersole. Her husband, Clarence C. Hummer, died on July 23, 1995. A homemaker, she had foster-parented 13 children in her home over the course of her lifetime. She was a member of Pond Bank Mennonite Church. She was also a member of Occupational Services Inc., Menno Haven Auxiliary, Chambersburg Area Hospital Auxiliary, Franklin County Nursing and Rehab Auxiliary and the Brethren Home Auxiliary in Cross Keys.
She is survived by one daughter, Orlena (wife of William) Kuhn, one son, Marvin Hummer, both of Chambersburg; two brothers, S. Harvey Kuhns of Chambersburg and Harold Kuhns of Harrisonburg, Va.; one sister, Cora (wife of Theodore) Crunkleton of Chambersburg; two foster daughters; three granddaughters; and six great- grandchildren. Aside from her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Mark Hummer; one foster son; one sister; and four brothers. Burial in Chambersburg Mennonite Church Cemetery.
