Kanagy, David E.
, 85, of Belleville, PA., died Nov. 19, 2004, from his home. Born March 2, 1919, to Pius and Mary (Yoder) Kanagy. His wife, Ida M. (Glick) Kanagy, whom he married June 14, 1941. He was a member of Rockville Mennonite Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher since the church began.

Survived by his wife Ida and children, Roy D. Kanagy and wife Rita, DaVida J. Kanagy, and Martha M. Kanagy, all of Belleville; siblings, Mrs. Savilla King of Belleville, Attrennis Kanagy and wife Marie of Gruver, Tx., Paul Kanagy and wife Kathy of Oden Ark., Chester Kanagy and wife Bertha; Pius Kanagy, Jr., both of Belleville; and Titus Kanagy of Penn Furnace; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a still-born son.

Funeral service was Nov. 21, 2004 at Rockville Mennonite Church, Belleville, with the Revs. Harold Sharp and Elam Glick officiating. Interment was in Allensville Mennonite Cemetery Allensville, PA

Kauffman - Aldine Charles
, son of Roy (N.L.) and Anna (Snyder) Kauffman, was born near Creston, Montana, October 14, 1918, died of cardiac arrest on September 11, 2004 at age 85. On September 16, 1945 he was married to Mabel Fern Eash at Harrisburg, Oregon. He worked in the lumber industry most of his life. He loved hunting, fishing, reading and visiting his children and their families from Virginia to Alaska and Hong Kong.

He is survived by four sons, Loyal, Loren, Leonard and Maynard and three daughters, Nola Estep, Barbara Kauffman and Edie Landis. He also has seven grandsons, seven granddaughters and one great-grandson. He is also survived by brothers, Paul, David, Norman, Jim and Joe and sisters Mary Slater, Berniece Reimer, Lillie Weber, Rosella Eby and Gladys Reimer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers Reuben and Sanford, and two sisters, Mabel Miller and Ruth Stutzman.

In his youth he joined Mountain View Mennonite Church where he was a faithful member until death.

Funeral services were held at Mountain View on September 17 with Jeryl Hollinger, Ray Landis and Norman Kauffman officiating.

Kauffman, Bernice R. Brubaker
, 90, of Thompsontown, PA., died Nov. 15, 2004 at her home. Born July 29, 1914, in Delaware Twp., Juniata Co., PA to Hudson H. and Phoebe A. (Shirk) Brubaker. Her husband was C. Roscoe Kauffman, whom she married Feb. 23, 1938 died Dec. 6, 1995. She was a member of the Delaware Mennonite Church, Thompsontown and a former member of the Juniata Valley Chorus.

Survived by a son, Wayne Kauffman and wife Grace of Mt. Pleasant Mills; three daughters, June Heller and a husband, Mervin, of Millersville, Shirley Helmuth and husband, Larry, of Lebanon, and Doris Dressler and husband, Roger, of R.R. 1 Thompsontown; three brothers, Lester L. Brubaker of McAlisterville, Paul S. Brubaker of McAlisterville and Darwin D. Brubaker of Mifflintown; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe and one sister, Fern Wert.

Funeral service was November 21, 2004 at Delaware Mennonite Church, Thompsontown, with the Rev. Glenn D. Hosler and the Rev. Salvatore Buoncore officiating. Interment was in the Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery, Oakland Mills.

Kauffman, Clifford
, 86, of Bloomfield, MT died October 13, 2004 at the Glendive Medical Center. He was born on November 6, 1917 in Coalridge, Montana, to L.A. and Nettie (Sharp) Kauffman. He was united in marriage to Anna Nissley on March 27, 1941 at the Red Top Mennonite Church in Bloomfield. Clifford was actively involved in his church, Gideons, the Eastern Montana Bible Camp and various school boards.

Survivors include his wife, Anna, of Bloomfield; children, Donna Stutzman and her husband Dave of Salem, Oregon, Judy Jaques and her husband Jim of Goshen, Indiana, Roland Kauffman of Billings, Montana, Gloria Kauffman and her husband Jim of Inman, Kansas, Marge Klempel and her husband Tom of Tucson, Arizona, Sherri Klempel and her husband Al of Bloomfield, Montana and Jo Rice and her husband Dave of Glendive; one brother, Earnest Kauffman and his wife Lois of Nebraska; three sisters, Leah Belle Mullet and her husband Jim of Saskatchewan, Canada, Lucille Eichelberger and her husband Cliff of Idaho and Nellie Mishler and her husband Robert of Washington; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Leslie, Roy, Fred, Morris, and Clayton Kauffman; his sisters, Dorothy Yoder, Civilla Steckley; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law and one granddaughter.

Memorial service was October 20, 2004 at the Red Top Mennonite Church in Bloomfield. Private family graveside services was held at the Red Top Mennonite Cemetery in Bloomfield, MT

Daughter of: Late Jacob and Catharine King Kauffman.

Preceded in death by a brother Amos Kauffman, and sisters, Elizabeth Kauffman, Mary Stoltzfus, Anna Lantz, Lydia King, Sarah King and Melinda Blank.

Katie was a member of West Haven Amish-Mennonite Church, New Holland, Pa.

Kauffman, Mae E. Smoker
, 88, of Fairmount Homes of Ephrata, formerly of Atglen, died on Friday, December 24, 2004 at Fairmount Homes following a lengthy illness. She was born in Lancaster, PA. to Joseph Z. & Rachel Lapp Smoker. She was the wife of Samuel S. Kauffman, of Ephrata, with whom she celebrated 63 years of marriage in March of this year. Mae was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Atglen.

Surviving besides her husband are 3 sons, Glenn, husband of Jeanne Georgenton Kauffman of Willow Street, Joseph, husband of Michele Wilson Kauffman of Strasburg, and Elvin, husband of Nell Martin Kauffman of Arroyo Grande, CA; 2 daughters, Esther, wife of J. Harold Bare of Paradise, and Rose, wife of Stephen White of Denver, CO; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Norman & Arthur Smoker.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Elva Smoker.
Funeral service was Dec. 29, 2004 at the Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Atglen, PA with the Pastor William Blank and Pastor Herman Glick officiating. The interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Keener, Lydia Baer
, 92, of Elizabethtown, PA formerly of Mercersburg, PA died of natural causes Thursday [June 17, 2004] at home. She was born in Hagerstown, Md., to  Adam M. and Ella S. (Martin) Baer. Her husband, Eldad J. Keener, died in 1988. She was a member of Mercersburg Mennonite Church Mercersburg, PA.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruth, wife of Dr. Enos D. Martin Elizabethtown, PA and Lois, wife of Jerome Winter of Denver, Colo.; four sons, Dr. Carl of Helena, Mont., Dale L. of Centreville, Va., Dr. Wilmer J. of Hagerstown, Md., and Dr. Dana R. of Marietta; a foster son, David L. Frye of Manassas, Va.; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Torkelson of Tilley, Alberta, and Miriam Eberly of Fayetteville, PA; and three brothers, Mervin J. Baer of McBride, British Columbia, Harry Baer of Dunstan, British Columbia, and Nelson Baer of Abbeville. S.C.

Keener, Oliver A.
, 93, of Danville, PA died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at his residence.

Born Oct. 30, 1910, in Randolph County, W.Va., to Henry and Betty Brunk Keener.

His wife was the former Doris Stutzman. He was a member and minister of the Danville Mennonite Church.

Surviving are four sons: Elwood J. Keener of Weyers Cave, Va.; Howard B. Keener of Chester Springs; J. Milford Keener of Honolulu, Hawaii; Joseph B. Keener of Danville; three daughters: Mrs. Lester (Ellen) Heatwole of Bartow, W.Va.; Mrs. Henry (Miriam) Eby of Hagerstown, Md.; Mrs. Timothy (Katherine Sue) Newswanger of Danville; 28 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Doris, two grandsons and three sisters.

Funeral service was Jan 10, 2004 at the Danville Mennonite Church, Danville, with Bishop Alvin Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Ada F. Kintner
(1921 - 2004)

WAUSEON- Ada F. Kintner, 83, of Wauseon, died Monday morning, Oct. 18, 2004, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, where she had resided since Jan. 16, 2004. Born Feb. 7, 1921, near Delta, to Anna (Luthy) and Ernest Leininger, she married Vernon King on Jan. 28, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1981. She married Harold Kintner on Jan. 23, 1982 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2004.

A resident of the Wauseon area since 1946, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the West Clinton Mennonite Church near Pettisville.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ben (Ida M.) Romero and Mrs. Emile (Anna) Cerda, both of Wauseon; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethelyn Titler of Walkerton, Ind. and Mrs. Earl (Orpha) Wyse of Wauseon.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Verne Leininger.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. in the Fairlawn Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the West Clinton Mennonite Church with Pastors James Roynon, Edward Diener, Verne Henry Leininger and Brad Faler to officiate. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery. Short Funeral Home in Archbold is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Gideons International or the donor's choice.

Kintner, Harold B.

Harold B. Kintner

(1918 - 2004)

WAUSEON - Harold B. Kintner, 86, of Wauseon, died Friday night, Oct. 8, 2004, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, where he had resided since Jan. 16, 2004.

Born Feb. 13, 1918, at Beaverton, Mich., to Lulu (McKinny) and Charles Kintner, he married Ada (Leininger) King on Jan. 23, 1982, and she survives and resides at Fairlawn Haven.

A resident of the Wauseon area for 22 years, he worked at the former Stubbnutts & Green at Adrian, Mich., before retiring in 1970. He was a member of the West Clinton Mennonite Church near Pettisville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ben (Ida M.) Romero and Mrs. Emile (Anna) Cerda, both of Wauseon; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, George (and wife, Virginia) Kintner and Russell (Margie) Kintner, both of Adrian, Mich.; and a sister, Mrs. Albert (Viola) Russell of Jacksonville, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clyde Kintner; and two sisters, Agnes Granger and Effie Reinhart.

Visitation will be held today from 3-8 p.m. in the Fairlawn Chapel.

Services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Fairlawn Chapel with Pastors James Roynon, Edward Diener, Verne Henry Leininger and Brad Faler to officiate. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Kraybill, Wilmer G.
, 83, of Elverson, PA died April 8, 2004 at the Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz, PA. Born Jul 19, 1920 in West Donegal Twp., he was the son of the late Martin Rutt and Suie (Garber) Kraybill. His first wife Helen Brubaker Kraybill died in 1998. His second wife is Rachel Kraybill. He was a member of the Hopewell Christian Fellowship where he served as a trustee for many years and founded the Senior Citizens Fellowship. He was instrumental in starting the Mennonite Central Committee's annual Heifer Sale in 1981 to support world relief and refugee ministries

Surviving are is his second wife, Rachel Kraybill; a daughter, Dorcas married to Douglas Hutton of Baltimore; two sons, Mark B. married to Ferne Ruth Kraybill of Elverson and Donald B. married to Frances Mellinger Kraybill of Elizabethtown; a foster son John Wiggins of Reading; six grandchildren; two sisters: Maribel Kraybill of Lititz and Jean married to Norman Shenk of Mount Joy; and two brothers, Simon married to Mary Jean Sherer Kraybill of Elizabethtown and Nevin married to Barbara Keener Kraybill of East Earl. .

He was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Brubaker Kraybill, a daughter Rosene, an infant son James, and an infant sister, Arlene Kraybill.

Funeral service was April 11, 2004 at the Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel, Lititz, PA with Pastor Mark Nicolas and Chaplain Mary Yunginger Rittenhouse officiating. Interment in Kraybill Mennonite Cemetery, Mount Joy.

Born: 3-13-1913, Phila., Pa. Died: 8-24-2004, Lancaster, Pa.

Daughter of: Late Reuben and Elva Brenneman Kreider.

Survivors: Brothers, C. Theron (Margaret Overly) Kreider of Bareville, Pa., Eddy Kreider of New Holland, Pa. and Gerald (Lois Siegrist) Kreider of Ephrata, Pa.

Preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Krans.

She was a member of Churchtown Mennonite Church.

Services: Goodville Mennonite Church on Friday, August 27, 2004, at 10 am with Rev. Philip R. Hollinger and Rev. Clair Good officiating. Interment in adjoining Cem.

Kropf, Leo Amos
, age 86 died Feb. 3, 2004 in Wickenburg, AZ. He was born April 1, 1917, near Shelbyville, Ill. son of Amos and Carrie (Miller) Kropf. As a young child, his parents moved from Shelbyville to Kallispel, Mont. for a short time and later moved to Hubbard, Ore. in 1922. He accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized in 1929 in the stream near the Zion Mennonite Church, Hubbard, Ore. He, with his parents and family, moved to Halsey, Ore. in 1936. On Aug. 20, 1939, he married Esther Marie Leichty. N.A. Lind performed the marriage ceremony at her parents home near Albany, Ore. He joined the Fairview Mennonite Church where he served in different capacities including church janitor as well as leading music. Leo was a charter member of the Berean Mennonite Church of Wickenburg, Ariz. and remained an active and faithful member until death.

Survived by his wife Esther; children James, married to Bette Clemmer of Albany, Ore., Carolyn, married to Gustavo Verdugo of Ahome, Mexico, Lyle, married to Nancy Wenger of Wickenburg, Ariz., Marlene of Wickenburg, Ariz., Kathleen, married to Ken Martin of Danville, Pa. and Christina of Las Vegas, Nev.; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Two uncles also survive, Floyd Miller, Twin Falls, Idaho and Joe Miller, Rupert, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents Amos and Carrie Kropf; sisters Nona Headings and Verna Ropp.

Funeral service was Feb. 6, 2004 at the Mt. Hope Assembly of God and Mahlon Hershberger officiated with Amos Kropf and Robert Birky assisting. Burial was at Wickenburg Cemetery.
