- Kenneth E. Aeschliman, 91, of Archbold, died Wednesday morning, July
12,
2006, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, where he had resided
since
2005.
Born
Dec. 18, 1914, near Wauseon, to Dora (Neuhouser) and Enos Aeschliman,
he married
Violet Frey on Aug. 5, 1941, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 17,
1987. He
then married Louella (Liechty) King on Nov. 16, 1991, and she preceded
him in
death on Aug. 28, 1998.
He
worked at KolbÕs Feed Mill in Wauseon for 10 years and was a
lifelong farmer.
He was a charter member of Zion Mennonite
Church,
Archbold.
Surviving
are six children, Mrs. Paul (Pauline) Holsopple of Fort Wayne, Ind.,
Mrs.
Michael (Barbara) Johnson of Archbold, Mrs. David (Elaine) Moyer of
Harleysville,
Pa., Jay (and wife, Cynthia) Aeschliman of Bradenton, Fla., Deborah
(Jeffery
Tomita) Aeschliman of Key West, Fla. and Teresa (Troy Colon) Aeschliman
of
Fairview, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister,
Marjorie

will be held Saturday from 3-8 p.m. in the Zion Church Fellowship.

services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Pettisville
Cemetery with a memorial
service at 4
p.m. in the Zion
Mennonite Church
with Pastors Ron Guengerich and Mona Sauder to officiate.

brief illness. She was born to Edward & Elizabeth
(Augsbursger)* King. She was married to John M. Albrecht, who
survives.

Gascho; John (Dottie) Albrecht; Kevin (Jan) Alvrecht; 12 grandchildren,

Flanagan, Illinois died September
29, 2006 at Flanagan, Livingston Co., Illinois of heart
congestion. He was born November 12, 1909 in Livingston County,
Illinois to Samuel & Ida (Yordy) Albrecht. On June 16,
1936 he was married to Frances P. Ummel, who survives.
Surviving are children, Donald (Mona) Albrecht, Topeka, KS; Roger
(Evelynne) Albrecht, Wichita, KS, six grandchildren, and 11
great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters: Verneal Albrecht, Ruth Albrecht, and
Esther Eastman.
The funeral was held October 3, 2006 at Prairieview Mennonite Church,
Flanagan, Livingston Co. Illinois with burial in Waldo Township
Cemetary, Gridley, Livingston Co., Illinois.

May 4, 1920 in Fulton Co., OH to Ross & Alma Andre. On
February 25, 1945 he married Ruth Wilson. Ruth preceded him in death on
May 25, 1967. On June 14, 1968 he was married to Evelyn Nofzinger
Short, who survives.
Also surviving are children, Carl (Kathleen) Andre, Dorothy (Mike)

survives.
Surviving is her father and a daughter, Kristin August .

She was preceded in death by her mother in November 2005.

KS died December 17, 2006 of old age. He was born to Isaac and
Emma (Harms) Balzer. He was married to Pauline Schroeder, who

Bates,
Benjamin S., 54, of Carlisle,PA, went to be with the Lord
on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 7, 1952, in Farmville, Va., and was a son of the late
Fordy and Esther (Martin) Bates.
Ben and his family owned and operated Bates' Greenhouses and Farm
Market along the York Road in Carlisle [PA] for many years, and Ben was
also a vendor at the Carlisle Farmer's Market for 29 years.
He was a member of the Blue Ridge Mennonite Church in Carlisle, PA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Esther L. (Weaver)
Bates; two sons, Eugene and his wife, Rachel, of Lebanon, PA and
Stephen and his wife, Lorraine, of Jonestown, PA; his two daughters,
Lorraine at home and Laura Stauffer and her husband, Marcus, of
Martinsburg, PA; four brothers, William, Robert, Douglus and Henry
Bates; four sisters, Florence Bates, Nancy LeBlanc, Shirley Marriotti
and Betty Eby; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ben was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Strite and Juanita Strite.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the
Blue Ridge Mennonite Church, 2514 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA.
with Pastors Stephen Ebersole, Lamar Sensenig and Darvin Halteman
officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewings will be
held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the
church.

Beachy,
Ervin E. , 91, of Arthur passed away at 12:20 a.m. Saturday,
September 30, 2006, at Sullivan Health Care center.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Sunnyside Mennonite
Church in rural Arcola with Rev. Larry Rocke, Rev. Lyle Goss, Rev.
Lonnie Gingerich, and Rev. Brian Petersheim officiating. Burial was in
Arthur Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church. Edwards Funeral
Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
Mr. Beachy was born December 29, 1914, in rural Arthur. He was a son of
Eli D. and Cora Yoder Beachy. He married Anna Helmuth on December 1,
1936, in Douglas County. She passed away on February 21, 2000. He is
survived by one son, David E. Beachy of Arthur; one brother, Rufus E.
Beachy and wife Fern of Staunton, Virginia; one sister, Katie Graber of
Arthur; two granddaughters, Crystal Beachy of Arthur and Violet Holmes
and husband John Jr. of Humboldt; one great-granddaughter,
Heather Beachy of Humboldt; two step great-grandsons, John S. Holmes of
Mattoon and Joel Holmes of Humboldt;.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna; one sister, Dora
Schrock; and daughter-.in-law, Emma Beachy.
Mr. Beachy was a member of Sunnyside Mennonite Church in rural Arcola.
He farmed in the Arthur area for over 75 years. He operated Arthur Sale
Barn in, the 1950s. He was a licensed livestock dealer. He has been
involved with livestock trucking in the Arthur area for over 50 years.

Benner, Keith David, 31, of Elkhart, IN and Chambersburg, PA,
died suddenly at his home July 18, 2006. He was born in
Philadelphia, PA to John and Barbara Benner; grew up in Tunkhannock,
PA, and made his home in Elkhart, IN where he received a master of Arts
in Theological Studies with a concentration in Church History from
Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS).
Keith was planning to pursue a Doctorate of Philosophy in Church
History at Toronto School of Theology. Keith's church home was at
Assembly Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN. His interests were broad ranging
and his passion for education, justice and life were evident in
everything he did and studies. Before attending AMBS he had
worked around the world. He spent time in Alaska as a bush pilot
where he flew cargo to remote Inuit villages. He also took his
love of flying and desire to aid those who were less fortunate to the
Democratic Republic of Congo where he flew for Airserve, an
international organization that flies relief supplies and teams for the
United Nations and non-governmental agencies. Keith flew for
several months in Iraq for the same organization in 2002 at the
beginning of reconstruction efforts. At the time of his death he was
working on an editing project preparing selected lectures of Mennonite
Theologian John Howard Yoder for publication. He was also
anticipating publication of another article in the Mennonite Quarterly
Review.
Keith is survived by his parents, of Chambersburg, PA; his sister Lolly
and Ron Kratz, Brandon, Nathaniel, Josiah and Hannah of Mount Joy, PA;
brother and wife, Randy and Brenda Benner of Somerset, PA; and a
brother Eric Benner of Syracuse, NY.
A memorial service was July 22, 2006 at Assembly Mennonite Church,
Goshen, IN.
Friends and family members in the Chambersburg, PA area may call at the
home of John and Barbara Benner.

Lydia Ann Horst, 78, of
Lancaster, PA died February 18, 2006 at
Lancaster, PA of complications due to a stroke. She was born
February 22, 1927 in Ephrata Twp., Lancaster Co., PA to the late Joseph
& Bertha (Sensenig) Horst. Bertha was born 11/04/1900 and
died 08/09/1966.
On September 28, 1946 Lydia was married to Leroy H.Bowman, who
survives.
Surviving are children, James L, Elizabethtown, married to Linda;
Richard L., Harrisonburg;
Virginia, married to Elsie; Elvin R. "Bo", San Antonio, Texas, married
to Connie; Janet L., Silver Spring, Maryland, married to Mostafa
Elbalghiti; Dale E., Saint Anne, Illinois, married to Karyn; and Leon
M., Strasburg, married to Debi; 20 grandchildren, and 3
great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are brothers and sisters: Mervin S. Horst married to
Minerva, Leroy S. Horst married to Ruth, and Edith S. Horst.
Predeceased by siblings: Esther married to Walter Burkholder, Grace
married to Martin Weaver, and Ray married to June Horst.
The funeral was held February 22, 2006 at Sunnyside Mennonite Church,
Lancaster, PA
with burial in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, PA.

Brubacher, Eileen Martin, 75,
of Elmira, ON, Canada died April
29, 2006 at Kitchener, ON, Canada of inoperable pancreatic
cancer. She was born June 25, 1930 at Conestogo, ON, Canada
to Edwin & Annie Martin . On November 29, 1950 she was
married to Ivan Brubacher , who survives.
Surviving are children, David Brubacher, Dennis Brubacher, Darlene
Weber, Marvin Brubacher, Mark Brubacher, 12 grandchildren, and 2
great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Cleason & Mary Martin,
Lavina Brubacher, Paul Prott, Lydian Kappes, Susannah Brubacher, Elmina
Brubacher, and David & Vera Brubacher
She was predeceased by a brother Melvin Martin (in infancy), and two
sisters (stillborn).
The funeral was held May 3, 2006 at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church St.
Jacobs ON with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Brubacher, Lucille Moore, 85,
of North Newton, KS died August
28, 2006 at North Newton, KS. She was born July 24, 1921 at
Dallas, Texas to John H. and Mary (Jackson) Moore. On September
30, 1942 she was married to Edward James Brubacher, who survives.
Surviving are children, Edward James, John Wade, Michael Jack, nine
grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister, Edna Brisendine, and a brother , John H.
Moore Jr. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward James
Moore.
The funeral was held September 1, 2006 at Bethel College Mennonite
Church, North Newton, KS.

Brubaker, Mary Deputy, of 1401 Virginia Ave., Harrisonburg, died
Thursday, Sept. 5, 2006, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Brubaker was born Oct. 10, 1913, in Rockingham County and was the
daughter of the late Mervin and Viola Heatwole Deputy.
She graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School and received a
bachelor's degree from Eastern Mennonite College, now Eastern Mennonite
University, and received an RN and Master's degree from the University
of Pennsylvania.
She taught for 10 years at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of
Nursing, then started the Eastern Mennonite School of Nursing. She was
a member of the RMH Nursing Alumni. She served for seven years as a
secretary of the Mennonite Nurses Association. She served as the Old
Grads Archivist of Eastern Mennonite University, currently called the
Jubilee Grads, for 20 years. She also did volunteer work in Austria
after World War II and later in Guatemala, the United States and also
Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She worked as a volunteer at
the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community for 22 years. She was a
member of Pike Mennonite Church.
On June 12, 1966, she married Jacob Brubaker; he preceded her in death
April 22, 1973.
Surviving are a brother, Dr. Bayard S. Deputy, four stepdaughters,
Helen Kurtz, Doris Heatwole, Sophia Martin and Lois Lahman, and a
stepson, Howard Brubaker.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Detwiler
Auditorium of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. Burial will
be private.
Friends may call at the McMullen Funeral Home anytime.

at the Mennonite Home nursing facility, Lancaster, PA. She was born in
Lampeter Township, PA, to Daniel and Edna (Martin) Denlinger. She was
the wife of the late Paul C. Bucher who died in 1990.
She was a member of the Neffsville Mennonite Church, Lancaster, PA.
She was employed by Hollinger's Farm Markets bake shop and John Martin
Bake Shop.
Surviving are her children, Jay R., husband of Pamela (Kraus) Bucher of
Lancaster. PA, James D., husband of Laura (Davis) Bucher of Virginia
Beach, VA, John D., husband of Sharon (Crills) Bucher of Harrisonburg,

Manheim, Pennsylvania died November 13, 2006 at Lititz, Pennsylvania
from a stroke. He was born April 26, 1921 at West Lempeter
Township, Pennsylvania to John and Gertrude (Groff) Buckwalter.
He was married to Helen F. Stauffer, who survives.
Surviving are children, Nancy L. Buckwalter, Janet L. wife of Richard
Lengacher, Allan H. husband of Anne Livingood Buckwalter, three
grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters: Richard husband of

Buhler, Leucile
Genevieve Steiner, Bluffton, Ohio, was born
September 21,
1906 and passed away April 15, 2006 at 99 years of age. At the time of
her death she was the oldest living graduate of Bluffton High School
and the oldest living member of The First Mennonite Church in Bluffton.
Leucile served on the program committee of the General Conference
Mennonite Church (now Mennonite Church USA) and on their literature
committee for many years. Under the General Conference Mennonite Church
she and Gerhard served two summers in voluntary service, working in
teenage work camps, at the Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, IN
and also at the Canadian Bible College, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
During their 11 years in Freeman, SD they took time out for a year of
voluntary service under the Mennonite Central Committee at Saints Jr.
College, Lexington, Mississippi. Leucile worked at the Saints Jr.
College Library and taught English in the Migrant Farmers Program and
also in the Head Start Program. Together she and her husband Gerhard
did bridge-building between Caucasians and African Americans. Later
while serving in voluntary service in the Cincinnati, Ohio inner city,
Leucile worked at the Cokesbury Book Store and taught in the Laubach
Reading Program. One summer they served as leaders of a college age
European work-study group, sponsored by Mennonite and Affiliated
Colleges. After their retirement and move back to their home in
Bluffton, Leucile and Gerhard volunteered to teach inmates at the Lima
State Hospital, Gerhard in the GED program and Leucile in Home
Economics.
During the years following Gerhard’s death in 1981, Leucile became more
active in volunteering at the Mennonite Central Committee Et Cetera
Shop, including bringing in hundreds of African violets to sell which
she had planted and nurtured She leaves a legacy of a life of service,
to her family and to the communities in which she lived.
Leucile is survived by her children Genevieve (Peter) Fast, Fresno, CA;
Joanne (Leland) Voth, Harrisonburg, VA; daughter in law Inez (Samuel)
Buhler, San Gabriel CA; and Ruth (Kenneth) Graber, Sierra Vista, AZ.
Her husband, Gerhard, a son Gerhard Samuel, and a grandson Timothy
Andrew Suter preceded her in death. She leaves 11 grandchildren, 19
great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Buller, Elma Mierau, 86, of
North Newton, Kansas died February 5,
2006. She was born October 30, 1919 to Cornelius J. & Maria
(Peters) Mierau. On May 16, 1947 she was married to Howard
K.Buller, who survives.
Surviving are children, Ruth, Stanley, and Charles, and 5
grandchildren.
Also surviving are Cornelius A. and Lillian Mierau.

December 2, 1922 at Chinook, Montana to Peter J. & Anna (Wiens)
Buller. On August 22, 1947 he was married to Anne Wiebe, who
survives.
Surviving are sons Paul and wife Deb of Goshen, Indiana, Glenn and wife
Judy of Bluffton,

Ontario, and 4 grandchildren.

was born December 20, 1913 at Seward County, Nebraska to Arthur &
Amanda (Stutzman) Burkey. On August 26, 1936 he was married to
Teresa A. Eicher, who survives.
Surviving are children, Lillian Jean Burkey (Jerome)Laurinec; Margaret
Ann Burkey (Delvin) Martin; Bonnie June Burkey Simons, 7 grandchildren,
and 10 great-grandchildren.

Byers, Anna B. Shetter, 96, Ladysmith, died at home on Aug. 19, 2006, surrounded by family after a short illness.
Born at Chambersburg, Pa., on July 17, 1910, she was the daughter of John H. and Elizabeth Burkhart Shetter.
She was married to Paul B. Byers Sr. on July 25, 1933, at Chambersburg, Pa., where they lived for ten years. They also lived 14 years in Oregon before coming to Rusk County on Sept. 14, 1957.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Wilma) Martin of Sheldon, Janet Byers of Ephrata, Pa., and Marlene Byers of Ladysmith , with whom she had her home; three sons, Dale R. (Anita) Byers of Elida, Ohio, Paul B (Mary Lou) Byers Jr. of Brodhead, Wis., and Galen K. (Anna) Byers of Grand Junction, Colo.; 28 grandchildren, 110 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two infant sons, one grandson, one great grandson, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were Aug. 22, 2006, at the Shiloh Mennonite Church with John Weaver officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sheldon.
