Aeschliman, Hyrthal E.,
90, died Feb. 26, 2007, at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold, OH.  He was born Dec. 12, 1916, near Wauseon, OH to Enos and Dora (Neuhouser) Aeschliman. On February 18, 1941, he married Anna Lucille Stuckey, who survives.

He first began farming near Wauseon, OH.  In 1953 he purchased the Cloverleaf Farm south of Stryker, OH and lived there until he moved to Fairlawn Haven in May 2006.  Along with farming, he raised beef cattle. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, he was on the board of directors of the Stryker Farmers' Exchange. He was a member of Pine Grove Mennonite Church, near Stryker, where he was an elder, trustee, church treasurer, and Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by four daughters, Janice (J. Evan) Kreider of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Judy (Charles) Davis of Fort Wayne, IN, Betty (Doug) Beck of Stryker, and Susie (Marlin) Groff, of Kinzers, PA., a son, David (Connie), of Stryker, three brothers, Galen, Derald "Bud" (Louise), and Merle (Virginia), all of Wauseon, a sister, Marjorie Nafziger, of Archbold, 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Kenneth, and a granddaughter, Terri Davis.

A memorial service was held March 3 at the Lockport Mennonite Church, near Stryker, with Pastor Walter Campbell of the Pine Grove Mennonite Church officiating.  Burial was in Lockport Cemetery.

Albrecht, Margaret, 96, of Greeley , Colorado died February 5, 2007 of  natural causes.  She was born December 23, 1910 to Franz and Marie (Wiebe) Albrecht.

Memorial services were held February 7, 2007 at First Mennonite Church Beatrice, Gage Co., Nebraska with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

She was a member of Mennonite Church USA.

Alderfer, Naomi Freed Derstine, 86, of Towamencin Twp., Montgomery Co., PA died September 25, 2007 at Lansdale, Montgomery, Co., PA from Celitis probably ischemic.  She was born February 26, 1921 at Hatfield, Montgomery Co., PA to Harvey H. and Katie Clemens (Freed) Derstein.  On May 18, 1940 she was married to Warren Hendricks Alderfer, who was born December 7, 1918 and survives.

Also surviving are children, Rachel Hinz and husband Fred; Rhoda Kauffman and husband Lyle; Glenda Moyer and husband Abram; David Alderfer and wife Cheryl, eleven grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Five sisters, Hannah Freed, Blanche Moyer, Mamie Nice, Katie Frederick, and Irene Derstein and one infant grandson preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held September 29, 2007 at Plains Mennonite Church, Hatfield,  Montgomery Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

She was a member of Mennonite Church USA.

Anderson, John “Jack” H.,
68, of Shunk, PA died May 13, 2007 at Shunk , PA.  He was born at Coatesville, PA to John F and Beatrice Anderson.  He was married to Joan Anderson, who survives.

Surviving are children, John H Anderson, Kierston T. Anderson, Diana Reed, Tina M. Slaymaker, Aldus Anderson, James F. Anderson, David R. Anderson, 32 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amity Anderson (sids death).

Memorial services were held May 19, 2007 at Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, PA with burial in the Maple Grove Mennonite Church Cemetery, Atglen, PA.

Andrews, Charles,
78, of Wauseon, Ohio died February 23, 2007 at Wauseon, Ohio.  He was born May 4, 1928 at Lyons, Ohio to Charles and Inez (Layman) Andrews, Sr.  On February 14, 1990 he was married to Patricia Chittenden  Rupp, who survives.   His first marriage was to Barbara Hartsel in 1952.  She died in 1988.

Surviving are children, Timothy Andrews, Ron Rupp, A.J. Rupp, Gary Link, Ed Rupp, Joyce Nafziger, Nancy Becker, Dave Link, Julie Gugel, 27grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister, Phyllis Zook.

Memorial services were held February 28, 2007 at North Clinton Mennonite Church, Wauseon, Ohio.

Augspurger, Bonita Blasi, 96, of Pulaski, IA died November 8, 2007 at Bloomfield, Davis County, Iowa. She was born February 21, 1911 at Attica, Iowa to Edward Walter and Jessi (Stone) Blasi.  On August 25, 1928 in Pulaski, Davis County, Iowa she was married to Harold E. Augspurger, who died January 5, 2002.

Surviving are children, William H. Augspurger (JoAnn), Bloomfield, IA; Virginia Berryman (Donnel), Pulaski, IA; Bonnie Payne (Darrell), Minneapolis, MN; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

One granddaughter, Kathryn Augspurger and Bonita’s siblings, Velma Baughman, Esther Delzell, Walter Blasi, Arthur Blasi, and Kenneth Blasi preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held November 11, 2007 at Pulaski Mennonite Church, Pulaski, Iowa  with burial in Pulaski Cemetery, Pulaski, Davis County, Iowa.

She was a member of Mennonite Church USA.

Augspurger, Michael J
., 52, of Ottumwa, Iowa died November 27, 2007 at Ottumwa, Wapello Co.,IA.  He was born February 13 1955 at Bloomfield, Davis Co., IA to Larry A. and Darlene L. (Murphy) Augspurger.

 

Surviving is a daughter, Nyla Howell, Newton, IA.  His parents and a sister, Peg Augspurger preceded him in death.

 

He was a former mayor of Bloomfield, IA.

 

A graveside service was held December 3, 2007 at Pulaski Cemetery, Pulaski, Davis Co., IA..

Bachman, Lucile Nafziger, 91, of Chenoa, IL died May 21, 2007 at Chenoa, IL from a stroke.  She was born July 22, 1915 at Hopedale, IL to Asa and Lizzy (Egli) Nafziger.  On October 18, 1936 she was married to Earl D. Bachman, (b. 07/11/1912 d. 10/03/2002).

Surviving are children, Shirley (Don) Corrie, Linda Joy, Donna (Kevin) Wehrmeister, eight grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving  are two sisters, Evelyn Collins and Ina Garber and a brother, Orval (Jesse) Nafziger.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Berg and two brothers, Melvin Nafziger and Willace Nafziger.

Memorial services were held May 26, 2007 at Meadows Mennonite Church, Chenoa, IL with burial in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa, IL.

Bachman, Verne Edward
, 80, of Moundridge, KS died November 24, 2007 at Moundridge, KS. He was born January 26, 1927 at Moundridge, KS.  On October 27, 1950 at Moundridge, KS he was married to Aline Matilda Young, who was born November 2, 1929 and survives.

Surviving are children, Debra Flavin, Judy Bachman, and four grandchildren.

Memorial services were held November 27, 2007 at West Zion Mennonite Church, Moundridge, KS with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Bandy, Dessie Troyer
, 96, of Hesston, Harvey Co., KS died June 1, 2007 at Hesston, KS.  She was born May 19, 1911 at Inman, KS to Abraham and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Zimmerman) Troyer.  On September 11, 1940 she was married to Murray C. Bandy, who survives.

Surviving are a daughter, Sondra Bandy (Phil) Koontz.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Troyer and a sister, Gertrude Troyer Roupp.

Memorial services were held June 6, 2007  Hesston Mennonite Church, Hesston, KS with burial in Eastlawn Cemetery, Hesston,, KS.

Bartel, Erna Fast
, 93, of Aberdeen, Idaho died December 25, 2007 at Pocatello, Idaho from natural causes.  She was born February 23, 1914 at Aberdeen, Idaho to Walter and Elise (Claassen) Fast.  In 1967 in Paso Robles, CA she was married to Herbert Bartel, who is deceased.

Surviving is a sister, Marie Schroeder.  Two brothers, Jacob and Edgar, and two sisters, Bertha and Anna preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held December 29, 2007 at First Mennonite Church, Aberdeen, Idaho,  Jerry Kaiser, Pastor, officiating, with burial in Homestead Cemetery, Aberdeen, Idaho.

Bartel, Delsie Tieszen, 83, of Marion, SD died December 12, 2007 at Freeman, SD from cancer.  She was born December 24, 1923 at Marion, SD to Isaac and  Katie Tieszen.  On June 8, 1948 at Marion, SD she was married to Leonhard Bartel, who died in 1972.

Surviving are children, Cathryn (Stan) Kern; Leonhard Keith Bartel; and Gerald Bartel.

Also surviving are four sisters, Lillian Glanzer, Sally (Wilbert) Hieb, Helen Tieszen, and Ruby (Don) Waltner.

Memorial services were held December 15, 2007 at Salem-Zion Mennonite Church, Freeman, SD with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Bauer, Mildred F. Miller, 89, of Hanston, KS died September 15, 2007 at Hesston, KS.  She was born November 17, 1917 at Hanston, KS to Edward D. and Emma Miller.  On July 21, 1942 at Hanston, KS she was married to John Bauer, who was born July 11, 1914 and died July 4, 2000.

Surviving are children, Judy Entz, Jim Bauer, and three grandchildren.

Memorial services were held September 23, 2007  at Hanston Mennonite Church, Hanston, KS with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Beachy, David

David J. Beachy, 91, of rural Arthur, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Cen­tral Wood LLC, 222 East County Road 200 North in rural Arcola. Bishop David J. Otto officiated. Burial was in the Yoder Cemetery in rural Arthur. Visitation was held before the funeral at Central Wood LLC.

Mr. Beachy was born on March 20, 1916 in Arthur, a son of Jacob L. and Anna L. (Yoder) Beachy. He married Ida Mae Schrock on February 8, 1938 in Arthur. She passed away on June 23, 2003; they lived in holy matrimony for 65 years, four months and 15 days.

Survivors include one son, Levi D. Beachy and wife Katie Schrock of Arthur; one daughter, Katie Ann Miller and husband Jacob W. of Arthur; one sis­ter, Bertha Marner of LaGrange, Ind.; 13 grand­children and 85 great-­grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two great-grandsons, Leroy Allen Helmuth and Richard Dale Beachy; seven broth­ers: Elmer Floyd, Arthur Martin, Levi J. Noah Edward, Harry C., Perry and a stillborn; and four sis­ters: Maymie Marie Rogers, Drucilla Beachy, Edna May Soule and Irene Beachy.

Mr. Beachy was a retired farmer and dairy­man. After he retired from farming, he worked in a repair shop. He was a bish­op of the Old Order Amish.

Beck, Orval J., 81, of Goshen, IN died April 15, 2007 at Goshen, IN of natural causes.  He was born May 1, 1925 at Fulton County, Ohio to Samuel and Amanda (King) Beck.  On June 29, 1946 he was married to Elizabeth Schrock, who survives.

Surviving are children, Gregory (Karen) Beck; Duane (Kathy) Beck; Max (Melanie) Beck; Kathleen (Terry) Martin; Nedra (Les) Gnagey, 14 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held April 20, 2007 at Holdeman Mennonite Church, Wakarusa, IN, with burial in the Olive Cemetery, Elkhart Co., IN.

Beck, Verden L., 89, of Archbold, OH died October 12, 2007 at Toledo, OH from natural causes.  He was born September 1, 1918 at Archbold, OH to Henry and Emma (Nofziger) Beck.  On November 21, 1940 he was married to Letha Short, who was born July 19, 1922 and survives.

Surviving are children, E. Dean (Jeanette) Beck; Daryl (Bonnie) Beck; Joyce Klingelsmith; Neal (Julia) Beck, 12 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Leonard Beck, and a sister, Bernice (Archie) Kauffman. His siblings Earl Beck, Florence Miller, Elnora Rupp, Ella Beck, Ilva Nofziger, and Lucille Rychener preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held October 16, 2007 at Central Mennonite Church, Archbold, OH  with burial in Pettisville Cemetery, Pettisville, OH.

He was plant supervisor at Sauder Woodworking Co. in Archbold; a volunteer, overseeing maintenance/construction at Little Eden Camp at Onekema, MI; and served in CPS during WWII.

Bender, Lloyd M.
, 94, of Etna Green, IN died April 25, 2007.  He was born July 28, 1912, in Flushing, MI, to Conrad and Elizabeth (Gascho) Bender.  On April 27, 1949, he married Edna M. Swartz.

He was a member of Riverside Mennonite Church Au Gres, MI and attended Clinton Frame Mennonite Church in Goshen, IN.

Survived by his wife and a daughter, Elaine (Charles Edward) Bragg of Etna Green, IN; and two sons, Karlan (Linda) Bender of Ann Arbor, MI and Darwin Bender of Alger, MI; and six grand children.

Preceded in death by a sister, Irene Bender.  Funeral service was April 28, 2007 at the Riverside Mennonite Church in Au Gres, MI,   Rev. Lyle Swartz and Rev. Gerald Swartz will officiate. Burial was in Sims-Whitney Cemetery, Au Gres, MI

Bender, Mary I.
, 79 died May 4, 2007. She was born March 20, 1928 near Kalona, IA to Ira and Lena (Miller) Bender.   

Mary did not marry and stayed at home to care for her parents. She was baptized in the Old Order Amish faith and later transferred to the Fairview Mennonite Church. Mary was the custodian at Fairview Church for approximately 15 years.

Survived by three brothers; Ivan Bender of Kalona, IA; Monroe Bender of Washington, IA; Lloyd and wife Barbara Bender of Kalona, IA; and one sister, Ruby and husband Owen Miller of Oxford, IA and a brother-in-law, Paul Shetler of Greenwood, DE. Also surviving are 27 nieces and nephews and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Preceding Mary in death were her parents, Ira (4/30/1990) Lena (7/27/1980) one sister, Dorothy Shetler (5/18/2005) and two sisters-in-law; Mattie Bender and Barbara Bender and one great nephew, Paul David Bender.

Celebration of Life Service was May 7, 2007 at Fairview Mennonite Church, Kalona, IA. Officiating: Pastor John Hershberger and Pastor Perry Miller. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Kalona, IA. Bender, Maurice William, 76, of Wellman, IA died October 12, 2007 at Wellman, Iowa Co., IA.  He was born April 17, 1931 at Parnell, Iowa to Leroy and Ida  Bender.  On January 1, 1952 he was married to Lola Jean Brenneman, who survives.

Surviving are children, Ken and Brenda Bender, Mike and Jennifer Bender, three grandchildren and two sisters, Loretta and Jerry Yoder, Pauline and Don Yoder.

A son, James W Bender preceded him in death.

Benner, Kathryn A. Alderfer, 88, of Earlington, PA died December 7, 2007 at Earlington, Montgomery Co., PA.  She was born August 14, 1919 at Harleysville, Montgomery Co., PA  to Howard and Florence (Wambold) Alderfer.  On September 2, 1939 she was married to Marvin Y. Benner, who was born February 24, 1917 and died September 2003.

Surviving are children, Gerald Benner & wife Rhoda, Kenneth Benner & wife Carolyn, Arlin Benner  & wife Donna, Carolyn Benner, Christine Stutzman and husband Ron, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are Gladys Neter (sister) and husband Heinz, Esther Landis (sister) and husband Melvin, and Earl Alderfer (brother) and wife Mary.

Ernest Alderfer (brother), and Laverne Alderfer (brother) preceded her in death.

Kathryn was a long-time faithful member of Finland Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday School and Summer Bible School classes. She served alongside her deacon husband in caring for the needs of the congregation for many years.

Memorial services were held December 13, 2007 at Souderton Mennonite Church, Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA with burial in Finland Mennonite Church Cemetery, Pennsburg, PA.

Benner, Linford C.
, 81, of Souderton, PA. died November 21, 2007 at his residence. He was born October 17, 1926 in Creamery, PA to Joseph and Ellen (Cramer) Benner. Linford was the beloved husband to Miriam K. Benner for 60 years. He was a charter member of Salem Mennonite Church of Shelly, PA.

Survived by his wife Miriam and sons Larry Benner & wife, Joan of Colorado Springs, CO; Ray Benner & wife, Stephanie of Telford, PA; Dennis Benner & wife, Joan of Telford, PA; Ronald Benner   & wife, Deborah of Telford, PA; and daughters Joanne Benner of Souderton, PA; Glenda Garman & husband, Steve of Eureka, IL; brother Joseph Benner of Reading, PA; and sister-in-Laws Gloria Benner   of Harleysville, PA; Thelma Benner of Lansdale, PA Grandchildren: 9 Great-Grandchildren: 4 He was preceded in death by: 6 Brothers - Willard, Edwin, Garrett, Christian, Leon & Samuel Benner 2 Sisters - Mary Barbara Nice & Kathryn Benner 1 Granddaughter - Kristina Garman.

Funeral service was November 27, 2007 at Salem Mennonite Church., Shelly, PA. Visitation will be held at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, PA on Monday from 6-8 PM and on Tuesday at Salem Mennonite Church from 1 hour prior to service. Burial was in the Souderton Mennonite Cemetery.

Bergthold, Arthur F., 96, of Reedley, CA died August 11, 2007 at Reedley, CA of natural causes.  He was born April 7, 1911 at Reedley, CA to Henry and Marie (Muller) Bergthold.  In 1934 at Reedley, CA he was married to Mary Eymann, who died in 1998.

Surviving are children, Arthur E. (Pat); Roland (Eleanor), seven grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is a brother, Reuben Bergthold.   

Art was the first administrator of Sierra View Homes in Reedley, CA.

Memorial services were held August 18, 2007 at First Mennonite Church, Reedley, CA with burial in Reedley Cemetary, Reedley, CA.

, 74, of Kinzers, PA died April 26, 2007 of a variety of causes.  He was born  to Russel and Mary (Wissler) Beyer.  He was married to Mildred Hershey, who survives.

Bontrager, Martha Petersheim


June 13, 1915 - Nov. 19, 2007

LAGRANGE -- Martha Bontrager, 92, of 1830 N. 100 W., died at 3:35 p.m. Monday (Nov. 19, 2007) at home.

She was born June 13, 1915, in Darlo, Kan., to Edward and Barbara (Schrock) Petersheim. She married Ira J. Bontrager on Dec. 20, 1934, in Haven, Kan.

He survives along with one daughter, Rosanna (Ron) Tetzloff of LaGrange; two sons, Edward (Josephine) Bontrager of Cumberland Furnace, Tenn., and Gerald (Jody) Bontrager of Elkhart; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; one stepsister, Edna (Willie) Bontrager of Iowa; and one stepbrother, Eddie Petersheim of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and Tobie Petersheim; one sister, Anna Miller; one half-brother, Jacob Petersheim; and one half-sister, Susie Gingerich.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Maple Grove Church, Topeka. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Revs. Edgar Miller and Phillip Bontrager officiating. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka.

Mrs. Bontrager was a member of the Invisible Body of Jesus Christ Church. She was a homemaker, loved cooking and was an avid quilter.

Bowen, Carolyn Jean Kropf, 60, of Charlottesville, VA died June 22, 2007 at Charlottesville, VA of cancer.  She was born December 24, 1946 in Lebanon, Oregon to Fred Vernon and Velma Arlene (Neuschwander) Kropf.  On June 6, 1970 she was married to James Edward Bowen, who survives.

Surviving are a daughter, Janel Lynne Bowen Early and husband Joseph Roy Early, a son, Brent Alan Bowen, one grandchild, and her parents.

Also surviving are her siblings: Leroy Fred Kropf; Eldon Dennis Kropf and Lois Dean; Conley Kropf; Leonard John Kropf and Carmen Dawn Berkey Kropf; Don Millard Kropf and Vivian Loree Beckler Kropf; Marilyn Joy Kropf Blank and Nelson Richard Blank; Harold Jay Kropf and Sahron Lucia Byler Kropf.

Brenneman, Floyd
, died March 31, 2007 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, IA. He was born February 18, 1920 in rural Johnson County, Iowa. to Manaas and Lydia (Miller) Brenneman. He was the seventh child in a family of eleven. He was united in marriage to Louise Miller on June 4, 1947.

They lived and worked together on the farm in Johnson County, IA. He was a farmer all his life except for a period of time during World War II when he served for four years as a conscientious objector in CPS in the states of Nebraska, Oklahoma, Indiana, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Maine. Floyd was member of East Union Mennonite Church.

He is survived by his wife and daughter Kathy Walter of Cedar Bluff, IA and daughter Kristen Brenneman and her husband Michael of Kalona, IA; four grandchildren, Andrea Walter and husband Eric Grueschow of Sugar Land, TX, Jason Walter and wife Kim of South Elgin, IL, Gretchen Yoder and husband Vince of Kalona, IA and Allison Brenneman of Goshen, IN, and by twin great-granddaughters, Kayla and Mackenzie Walter of South Elgin, IL. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth Hershberger and Leta and Paul Miller both of Wellman, IA and two brothers, Dale and Idella Brenneman and Leroy and Betty Brenneman both of Kalona, IA.

Brubacher, Edward "E.J." James, 89, of North Newton died August 1, 2007 at North Newton, KS. He was born September 23, 1917 at Perry, Oklahoma to August John (8/3/1894-2/26/1970) and Clara Mae (Hirschler) Brubacher.  On September 30, 1942 at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho he was married to Lucille Marie Moore, who was born July 24, 1921 and died August 28, 2006.

Surviving are children, Edward James Junior "Jim" (Lois), Wade (Joan), Michael (Joan), nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are siblings, Kathryn Stucky, Naomi Krehbiel, Don, Jack, and Yvonne.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Dirks.

EPHRATA -- Irene M. Brubacker, 56, of Ephrata, passed away unexpectedly on Christmas morning, Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at the home of her twin sisters, Lucie and Linda Brubacker of Mount Pleasant Mills.

Irene was born Feb. 2, 1951, in Denver, a daughter of the late Ruth (Martin) Brubacker and Phares S. Brubacker, who preceded her in death on Monday, Dec. 24, 2007.

At the time of her passing, she was working for M.H. Eby Inc. in Blue Ball and was a caregiver for the elderly in the Mennonite community.

Irene was a member of Stauffer's Mennonite Church, Ephrata.

She is survived by her stepmother, Eva (Stauffer) Brubacker of Port Trevorton, and brothers and sisters, Edith Stauffer, wife of Samuel of Elkhorn, Ky., Leon Brubacker of Port Trevorton, Ivan Brubacker of Mount Pleasant Mills, Ruth Auker, wife of Frank of Vandalia, Ill., Erwin Brubacker of East Haven, Conn., Thelma Zimmerman, wife of Harvey Jr. of Leonardtown, Md., Sylvia Phillips of Middleburg, Phares Brubacker Jr. of Leonardtown, Md., Bertha Zimmerman, wife of Matthew of Hillsboro, Ohio, Paul Brubacker of Denver, Pa., and twin sisters, Linda and Lucie Brubacker of Mount Pleasant Mills; 52 nieces and nephews; and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded by a brother, Edwin Brubacker.

Family and friends are invited to the home of her brother, Leon Brubacker, at 2150 Chapman Hollow Road, Port Trevorton, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday for the viewing. Further services will be at 9 a.m. Friday, again at the brother's home, with further services at 9:45 a.m. Friday at Stauffer's Mennonite Church, Produce Road, Port Trevorton.  Burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery.

PORT TREVORTON -- Phares S. Brubacker, 79, of Port Trevorton, passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at the home of his twin daughters, Linda and Lucie Brubacker of Mount Pleasant Mills.

Mr. Brubacker was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Myerstown, a son of the late Aaron and Rebecca (Sensenig) Brubacker. He was the husband of Eva (Stauffer) Brubacker, who survives.

He was engaged in farming, painting and carpentry.

Mr. Brubacker attended Stauffer's Mennonite Church, Port Trevorton.

Brubaker, Alvin B.
, 78, of Baring, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 21, 2007, at his residence west of Baring.

Alvin was born March 20, 1929, in Lebanon County, the son of Levi and Leah Bauman Brubaker.

On November 5, 1949 Alvin married Verna Horst and to this union eight children were born. They moved to Knox County, Missouri in 1976 to farm and make their home.

Alvin was a member of the Millport Mennonite Church south of Rutledge, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Verna Brubaker of Baring, Missouri; eight children, Edwin and his wife Esther Brubaker of Memphis, Missouri, Miriam and her husband Paul Reiff of Mohnton, Rachel and her husband Marlin High of Lebanon, Ruth and her husband Edwin Horst of Memphis, Missouri, Mary and her husband Mark Martin of Rutledge, Missouri, Martha and her husband Marlin Martin of Loyal, Wisconsin, Raymond and his wife Julia Brubaker of Center View, Missouri, and Linda and her husband Ralph Burkholder of Baring, Missouri; forty-nine grandchildren; forty-two great grandchildren; two brothers, George and his wife Susie Brubaker of Womelsdorf, and William Brubaker of Womelsdorf; a sister, Lena and her husband Harold Fox of East Earl; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Leah Brubaker; two brothers, Allen Brubaker his twin, who passed away, in infancy, in 1930 and Henry Brubaker; three sisters, Nancy Miller, Mabel Kilmer and Eva Beiler; and a granddaughter, Elaine Brubaker.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 27, 2007, at 9:30 a.m. at the Millport Mennonite Church south of Rutledge, Missouri.

Burial will be in the Millport Mennonite Cemetery south of Rutledge, Missouri.

MT. PLEASANT MILLS - Frank S. Brubaker, 77, of 232 Leese Hollow Road, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at his residence.

He was born on Dec. 20, 1929, in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, a son of the late Joseph O. and Mary W. (Stauffer) Brubaker. He was married to the former Mildred L. Martin, who preceded him on Nov. 9, 2001.

He was engaged in farming during his life.

Mr. Brubaker is survived by eight sons, Lloyd M. Brubaker of Winfiled, Vernon M. Brubaker of Holland, Ky., John M. Brubaker of Middleburg, Elton M. Brubaker of Rich Hill, Mo., Leroy M. Brubaker of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Mervin M. Brubaker, at home, Paul M. Brubaker and Leon M. Brubaker, both of Mt. Pleasant Mills; three
daughters, Mrs. Aden B. Martin (Erma) of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Naomi M. Brubaker, at home, and Mrs. Kyle Carey (Ruth) of Milton; 47 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Harvey Zimmerman (Mary) of Leonardtown, Md., and Eva Martin of Port Trevorton.

Mr. Brubaker was preceded by one daughter, Grace, and by four additional daughters, in infancy; two grandchildren; five brothers, John, Joseph, David, Paul, and Elam; four sisters, Elizabeth, Anna, Ida, and Alice.

The family will receive friends for the viewing on Friday, March 16, 2007, beginning in the afternoon and extending into the evening at the family residence. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. from Brubakers Old Order Mennonite Church, Blackwoods Road, Port Trevorton.

Burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery.

Brubaker, Luke A.
, 81, formerly of Petersburg Road, a resident of Landis Homes went to his Heavenly home to meet his Savior whom he loved on Friday, September 7, 2007 after an illness of several months.

He was married 57 years to Rachel S. Kraybill Brubaker. Born in Juniata County, PA he was the son of the late Menno and Ada Martin Brubaker.

Mr. Brubaker had been a poultry farmer, a milk tester under DHIA and had owned a carwash in Lititz for many years. He was a member of the Neffsville Mennonite Church and had been active as a Sunday School Teacher and Elder. He had served on the board of Youth For Christ for many years and was a member of the residents council at Landis Homes.

His interests included photography, hunting, camping, traveling, latch hook and volunteering at Landis Homes.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Jay husband of Kathleen Snyder Brubaker of Gurnee, IL, Leon husband of Mary Rowe Brubaker of Paradise, and Don husband of Karen Evans Brubaker of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Ranck of Strasburg, and Mary Zook of Harrisonburg, VA. He was preceded in death by six brothers Paul, Samuel, Aaron, John, David and Jacob Brubaker and by a sister Anna Brubaker.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the Neffsville Mennonite Church, 2371 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA with Pastors Beth and Harry Jarrett officiating.

Friends may greet the family at the church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Brubakers memory may be made to the Landis Homes Caring Fund, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543.

Bubalo, Sylvia G. Gross, 78, of Goshen, IN died October 30, 2007 at Goshen, IN. She was born November 25, 1928 at Doylestown, PA to Titus L. and  Olive S. (Moyer) Gross.  On March 2, 1957 she was married to Vladimir L. Bubalo , who died July 21, 1989.

Surviving are a brother, Leonard (Irene) Gross, and two sisters, Miriam (Fred) Meyer, and  Lois (Christopher) Leuz.

A sister, Geraldine Harder preceded her in death.

Sylvia graduated from Goshen College in 1951 and attended the Art Institute of Chicago, and Mennonite Biblical Seminary. Sylvia was an artist and poet. She was a member of College Mennonite Church.

Memorial services were held November 2, 2007 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen IN with burial in Violett Cemetery, Goshen, IN.

Buckwalter, Lester R., 95, of Millersville, PA died January 12, 2007 in Lancaster, PA.  He was born July 26, 1911 in Leacock Twp., PA to Jason and Frances M. (Hershey) Buckwalter.  He was married to Anna E. Book, who is deceased.

Buckwalter, Robert Denlinger, 86, of Leola, PA died November 30, 2007 at Lititz, Lancaster Co., PA from a pulmonary embolism.  He was born February 28, 1921 at East Lampeter, Lancaster Co., PA to John and Martha (Denlinger) Buckwalter.  John was born June 28, 1896 and died March 4, 1935.  Martha was born August 24, 1897 and died April 16, 1987.

Robert was married on July 11, 1942 at Bareville, Lancaster Co., PA to Faith Steffy who was born June 11, 1923 and survives.

Surviving are children, Linda (Roy) Breneman, Robert (Betty Lou) Buckwalter, Judith Buckwalter, Joyce (Robert) Samuels, John (Laurel) Buckwalter, Leon (Sue) Buckwalter, Mary Ann( Clinton) Good, Debra (Rory) MacCrea, Steven (Marian) Buckwalter, Carole (William) Schumacher,  35 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Richard, husband of Sara Buckwalter, sisters, Dorothy Thomas and Rhoda, wife of Ali Salim.

A son, Leslie, an infant daughter, Marian, a brother, John Buckwalter, and a sister, Ruth Stauffer. preceded him in death.

He was a dairy farmer in Lancaster County and then in Wellsville, NY. Pastored for 15 years at Independence Gospel Fellowship in Andover, NY.  Volunteered for Ten Thousand Villages and MCC at numerous locations after retirement. Robert loved to travel and was an avid reader. He was a stamp collector and a member of the Mennonite Historical Society.

Memorial services were held December 5, 2007 at Akron Mennonite Church, Akron, PAwith burial in Yorks Corners Cemetery,  Wellsville, Allegany Co., NY.

Burkey, Catherine "Katie" Rediger, 101, of Albany, OR died  April 3, 2007 at Albany, OR.  She was born July 4, 1905 at Thurman, CO to David and Barbara (Ruby) Rediger. 

On September 14, 1927 she was married to Harry Burkey (b. 1905 d. 7/23/1968).

Burkholder, Harriet Lapp, 92, of Goshen, IN died September 6, 2007 at Goshen, IN.  She was born March 31, 1915 in Calcutta, India to George and Esther (Ebersole) Lapp.  On August 20, 1939 in Manheim, Pa. she was married to J. Lawrence Burkholder, who was born October 31, 1917 and survives along with one son, Howard Burkholder, two daughters, Myrna Burkholder, and Janet (Lauren) Friesen, and two grandchildren.

A son, Jerald Burkholder and two sisters, Lois Camp and Pauline Lapp preceded her in death.

She graduated from Goshen College in 1935 and was one of the first women to get a Th.B. from Mennonite Biblical Seminary. She was supportive of her husband, J. Lawrence Burkholder’s, career, which involved living in many different places. Harriet helped begin the afternoon sabbatical program at Goshen College and neighborhood groups at College Mennonite Church.

Memorial services were held September 9, 2007  at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN with burial in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen, IN.

, age 82 of Greencastle, Pa. died March 19, 2007. She was born August 11, 1924 in Washington Co., Md, to Jonas E. and Nancy H. (Horst) Horst.

She and her husband, Martin L. Burkholder were married January 10, 1946.

A member of the Paradise Mennonite Church of Hagerstown, Md.

Surviving is her husband and three Daughters, Naomi C. Martin of Waynesboro, Pa., Sarah L. Burkholder, at home and Elizabeth M. Petre of Greencastle, Pa. Four Sons, John E. Burkholder, Warren Samuel, 88, of Bridgewater Retirement Community, Virginia died May 24, 2007.  He was born to Walter and Anna Belle (Fulk) Burkholder. He was married to Virginia Burkholder (b. 07/20/1920 d.11/04/1999).

Surviving are children, Judith A. Espinoza, Linda B. Scrogham, Donald R., Sue Burkholder, Philip W., Sheldon D. (Pete), Stephen S., Frederick M., Randall L., 18 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held May 29, 2007 at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Burky, Glendora Shrock, 87, of Walnut Creek, OH died September 10, 2007 at Walnut Creek, OH. She was born May 7, 1920 at Walnut Creek, OH to Willard and Alta (Miller) Shrock. On May 3, 1947 she was married to Lloyd Burky, who survives.

Surviving are son, Bruce (Bobbi) Burky; son, Doug Burky; daughter, Lois Hochstetler; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

One brother preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held September 13, 2007 at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church, Walnut Creek, OH burial in the adjoining cemetery.

She was a member of Mennonite Church USA.

Bustos G., Mary, 82, of Goshen, IN died January 22, 2007 at Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN.  She was born March 24, 1924 at Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico.  On June 1, 1956 she was married to Margarito Bustos, Jr., who is deceased.

Surviving is a son, Steve Bustos  and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda Bustos, and a brother, Eliseo Gaxiola.

Memorial services were held January 27, 2007 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN with burial in Violett Cemetery,Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN.

She was a member of Mennonite Church USA.
