Sauder, Ilva Mae Short Frey,
85, of Archbold, OH died November 12, 2007 at Archbold, OH from natural causes.  She was born December 16, 1921 at Archbold, Fulton Co., OH to Daniel H. and Anna (Kutzli) Short.  On September 17, 1988 at Archbald, Ohio she was married to Orval D. Sauder, who was born April 11, 1915 and died May 22, 2006.

Ilva was first married to Roy Frey on April 21, 1946. They shared more than 40 years together until Roy's death. She then married Orval Sauder in 1988.

Surviving are children, Carolyn (Dwight) Kauffman; Jeanette (Don) Gripe, Carol (Gilbert)
Naziger, Judy Yoder, Linda (A.J.) Rupp, Jeff (Tana) Sauder 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A daughter, Nancy Frey, a brother, Walter Short, and two sisters, Ella Gisel, and Florence Richer preceded her in death.

Ilva was the secretary at Sauder Woodworking for 15 years. She was on the Fairlawn Haven Board for 13 years and was active in the Fulton County Migrant Camp ministry and volunteered at Care and Share, Ten Thousand Villages, and at Sauder Village. A woman of strong faith, she
was very active at Central Mennonite Church.

Memorial services were held November 15, 2007 at Central Mennonite Church, Archbold,  Fulton Co., OH with burial in Pettisville Cemetery, Pettisville, Fulton Co., OH.

Sauder, Orval Eugene
, 73, of Pettisville, OH died October 14, 2007 at Pettisville, OH from a heart attack.  He was born September 29, 1934 at Pettisville, OH to Edward and Wilma (Wyse) Sauder.  On October 6, 1956 he was married to Esther Lehman, who was born December 24, 1936 and survives.

Surviving are children, Randall (Karen) Sauder, Timothy (Denise) Sauder, Brad (Holly)
Sauder, Karen Fosnight, and ten grandchildren.

Also surviving are siblings, Velma (Omar) Gnagey, Mary Alice (Duane) Eash, Floyd "Fritz" Miller, and Donna Sauder.  A brother, Lowell Sauder, and two sisters, Marland Sauder and Verna Miller preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held October 18, 2007 at Central Mennonite Church, Archbold, OH  with burial in Pettisville Cemetery, Pettisville, OH.

Orval and his wife Esther, owned and operated the Country Paint Store near Pettisivlle, OH these past 43 years.

Schaefer, Donald E.,
87, of Lowville, NY died August 26, 2007 at home in Lowville, NY.  He was born October 14, 1919 at Naumburg, Lewis County, NY, to William S. and Katherine (Lehman) Schaefer.  On June 14, 1946 at Lowville Mennonite Church, by Rev. Lloyd Boshart, Lowville, Lewis County, NY he was married to Ilona M. Zehr, who survives.

Surviving are children, William and Christine Schaefer, Elaine and Allen Matuszczak, Amy and James Deavers, Gary and Debra Schaefer, Carla and Timothy O'Brien, Ronald and Darryl Schaefer, 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Glenn and Marion (Schaefer) Stalter, and Leon and Katherine (Schaefer) Martin.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Schaefer Lyndaker and his siblings: Stanley, Sidney, Harold and John Schaefer, and Doris (Schaefer) Jantzi.

In 1945, through Heifer Project International, he went on one of the first shipments of pregnant horses to post World War II Poland. He and his family have continued to support Heifer Project
International. He was a dairy farmer for 32 years and was a past director of Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He had served as Elder at First Mennonite Church of New Bremen.

Memorial services were held August 29, 2007 at First Mennonite Church of New Bremen, Lowville, Lewis County NY with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

He was a member of Mennonite Church USA.

Schafer, Vera Habeggar,
93, of Bluffton, OH died February 21, 2007 from natural causes at Bluffton, OH.  She was born May 21, 1913 to Henry and Mary Anne (Zimmerly) Habeggar.  On September 2, 1942 she was married to Glen Schafer, who is deceased.

Surviving are a daughter, Ann Reichenbach and two grandchildren.

Memorial services were held February 26, 2007 at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, OH with burial in Clymer Cemetery, Mt. Cory, OH.

Scheid, Betty J. Reedy
, 74, of Manheim, Lancaster County, PA died May 19, 2007 at Heart of Lancaster Reginal Medical Cntr, PA. She was born March 29, 1933 to Homer F. and Elsie E. (See) Reedy. She was married to Paul Scheid, Sr., who died April 30, 1993.

Surviving are children, Paul E. Scheid, husband of Jennifer A. Scheid, York, PA; Cathy L. Scheid, wife of Craig A. Fisher, Manheim, PA, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Also surviving is a brother, Frederick J. Reedy, husband of Alma Reedy, Paradise, PA.

Memorial services were held May 23, 2007 at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, Lancaster, PA.

Schlabaugh, Martha Glick
, 94, of Kalona, Iowa died September 19, 2007 at Kalona, Washington Co., Iowa.  She was born December 31, 1912 at Kalona, Washington Co., Iowa to John A. and Magdalena (Miller) Glick.  Her father was born July 14, 1872 and died. April 14,1960. Her mother was born July 15, 1878 and died June 10, 1919.

On January 7, 1940 at Kalona, Johnson Co., Iowa she was married to Ralph Schlabaugh, who was born August 24, 1916 and died July 29, 2007. 

Surviving are children, Ila Jane and Donald G. Yoder, Merle and Karen Bauman Schlabaugh, three grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
 
Seven brothers and sisters, Anna Glick Glick, Chris Glick, Daniel Glick, Jacob Glick, Katie Glick Bontrager, Lydia Glick Bontrager, and Ada Glick Miller preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held September 22, 2007 at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church, Kalona, Iowa with burial in South Gingerich Cemetery, Kalona, IA.

Schlabaugh, Ralph
, 90, of Kalona, Iowa died July 29, 2007 at Kalona, Iowa. He was born August 24, 1916 at Sharon Center, IA to Mahlon and Katie (Miller) Schlabaugh.  On January 7, 1940 at Kalona, Iowa he was married to Martha Glick, who survives.

Surviving are children, Ila and Don G. Yoder, Merle and Karen Schlabaugh, three grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Schloneger, Amy A. Wengerd
, 87, of Louisville, OH died October 20, 2007 at Louisville, Stark Co., OH. She was born May 18, 1920 at East Greenville, OH to Alva and Sarah (Sommers) Wengerd. She was married to John A. Schloneger, who was born February 15, 1917 and died May 1, 2007.

Surviving are children, Norma Erb, Gerald Schloneger, Elvin Schloneger, Loyal Schloneger,
Wesley Schloneger, and Rodney Schloneger, 28 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving her siblings: Doris and Paul Lehman, Carole Carter, Robert and Edna Wengerd, and Blaine Wengerd.

 A daughter, Charlene Parrish preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held October 23, 2007 at Beech Mennonite Church, Louisville, Stark Co., OH with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Schmidt, Melva Ries
, 88, of Marion, SD died January 4, 2007 at Freeman, SD.  She was born January 26, 1918 at Freeman, SD to Daniel and Emma (Preheim) Ries.  On June 28, 1942 she was married to Alfred G. Schmidt, who is deceased.

Surviving are children, Marlys (Wendell) Sheriff, Erna Schmidt, Merton (Sharon) Schmidt, Kenny (Elaine) Schmidt, and eight grandchildren.

Memorial services were held January 8, 2007 at Salem-Zion Mennonite Church, Freeman, SD  with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Scholl, Marcella D. Liechty
, 86, of Sterling, IL died December 21, 2007 at Sterling, Whiteside Co., IL.  She was born February 16, 1921 to Amos A. and Della (Nussbaum) Liechty.  On September 1, 1946 at Berne, IN she was married to Maurice Scholl, who was born October 4, 1920 and survives.

Surviving are children, Harvey Scholl, Duane (Kathryn) Scholl, David (Kay) Scholl, Beth (John) Oujiri, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Ernest (Berdella) Liechty, and Amos (Beverly) Liechty, and three sisters, Irena Sprunger, Leona (Phillip) Neuenschwander, and Grace (Donald) Herman.

Four sisters, Justine Liechty, Vera Gerber, Esther Neuenschwander, and Ernestine Liechty, and two brothers, Grover Liechty, and Irvin Liechty  preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held December 27, 2007 at Science Ridge Mennonite Church, Sterling, Whiteside Co., IL with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Schrag, Leona Graber
, 86, of North Newton, Harvey Co., KS died June 1, 2007 at North Newton, KS. She was born October 11, 1920 at Pretty Prairie, Kansas to Ed W. and Caroline (Stucky) Graber.  On August 18, 1940 she was married to Howard Schrag (06/15/1917), who survives.

Surviving is a son, Howard, one grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held June 7, 2007 at Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton, Harvey Co., KS with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas.

, 79, of Newton, KS died January 15, 2007.  She was born to Jacob and Justina (Regier) Schroeder.  She was married to Lloyd Schroeder, who survives.

Also surviving are children, Rhonda Ramsey, Jana, Ardie Goering, and three grandchildren..

89, of Canby, Clackamas Co., OR died January 28, 2007.  She was born to Samuel and Elizabeth (Yutzy) Shrock.  She was married to Julius Schultz, who is deceased.

Surviving are children, June Walch, Donna Springer, Carol Shank, Esther Schrock, Irene Bitikofer, Reuben, 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Schulz, Carl G.
, 88, of Swink, Otero County, Colorado died January 15, 2007 at La Junta, Otero County, Colorado.  He was born March 14, 1918 at La Junta, Otero County, Colorado  to Henry and Elsie (Roeder) Schulz.  On May 18, 1941 he was married to Marie May Schulz, who survives.

Surviving are children, Alvin (Lisa), David (Corine) Jean (Mac) Hadaway, seven  grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John, and a sister, Lucille Yoder.

Memorial services were held January 20, 2007 at Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home, La Junta, Otero County, Colorado with burial in Fairview Cemetery, La Junta, Otero County, Colorado.

Carl was an active member of the Mennonite Church all of his adult life. He was a member of Emmanuel Mennonite Church in La Junta, Colorado.

Schweitzer, Alarion
, 90, of Cairo, Nebraska died September 16, 2007 at Cairo, Nebraska.  He was born November 10, 1916 to John and Matilda (Stutzman) Schweitzer.  He was married to Edna "Marie" Beckler, who is deceased.

Surviving are children, Leona Saltzman, Mervin Schweitzer, Glenda Rediger, Marlin Schweitzer, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Lester and Jeannine Schweitzer, sister in laws--Mary & Merna Schweitzer, and Mertyon, Royden & Wilbur Schweitzer.

Two sisters, Neomi Beckler and Esther Miller preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held September 20, 2007 at Cairo Baptist Church, Cairo, Nebraska with burial at Wood River Mennonite Cemetery, Wood River, Nebraska.

, 77, of Casa Grande, AZ & Cairo, NE died December 8, 2007 at Casa Grande, AZ.  She was born April 29, 1930 at Beaver Crossing, NE  to Jacob and Mabel (Hobbs) Oswald.  She was married to Lester Schweitzer, who survives.

Surviving are children, Don & Kathy Schweitzer, Ron & Elaine Schweitzer, Jon & Roberta
Schweitzer, Alan & Peg Schweitzer, Sharon & Lavern Jarzynka, Rebecca & Scott Boone, Jewel & Lanny Faeh, 23 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
 
A son, Phillip Schweitzer preceded her in death.

Seitz, Grace Rittenhouse Heebner
, 92, of Harrisonburg, VA died December 20, 2007 at Harrisonburg, VA from natural causes.  She was born June 4, 1915 was married to Kenneth Leroy Seitz, who survives.

Surviving are children, Kenneth and wife Kathryn, Delbert and wife Mary Friesen, David and wife Christine, Lois Kreider and husband Philip, Eunice Wenger and husband Wade, Frances Justice and husband Larry, 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

A son, James Carl Seitz preceded him in death.

Shank, Mark Heatwole

July 11, 1922-April 6, 2007

EAST BERLIN, Pa. -- Mark Heatwole Shank, 84, of 405 Harrisburg St., East Berlin, Pa., passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of Friday, April 6, 2007. He was born July 11, 1922, in Dayton, Va., and was the son of the late Paul T. and Annie (Heatwole) Shank. He was united in marriage on Oct. 11, 1951, to Mary Catherine Gable, who survives. He lived most of his life in Dayton, Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Shank and a sister, Hazel Burkholder.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lewis (Mable) Martin of Dayton, Va; one son, Ivan W. Shank of East Berlin, Pa.; two daughters, Elsie M. Mellinger of Annville, Pa. and Rhoda C. King of Bridgewater, Va.; 17 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was a member of Churchtown Mennonite Church.

Viewing for family and friends will be at Churchtown Mennonite Church, 1341 Church Street, Churchtown, Pa. (near Carlisle), Thursday, April 12, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the church. Funeral services will be held at Churchtown Mennonite Church, Friday, April 13, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mount Holly Springs, Pa. 17065.

Shettler, Elda Stutzman
, 70, of Wellman, Iowa died March 4, 2007 at Iowa City, Iowa.  She was born October 12, 1936 at Milford, Nebraska to the late Manno and Maggie (Erb) Stutzman.  On May 26, 1990 she was married to Cecil Shettler, who survives.

Also surviving is sister, Rose Stutzman and a brother, Morris Stutzman.  She was preceded in death by six brothers, Clarence, Walter, Clayton, Roy, Arthur, and Percy and a sister, Mabel Beckler.

Memorial services were held March 8, 2007 at Wellman Mennonite Church, Wellman, Iowa  with burial in Wellman Cemetery, Wellman, Iowa.

Short, Ruth R. Grieser

Jan. 3, 1914 - March 21, 2007

Ruth R. Short, 93, of Archbold died Wednesday at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home, Archbold.
Born Jan. 3, 1914, near Archbold, she was the daughter of Ephriam and Jemima (Baer) Grieser. On Jan. 26, 1932, she married Harold "Schnitz" Short, who preceded her in death June 5, 1988.
She was a homemaker, a charter member of the Zion Mennonite Church in Archbold and a member of the Fulton County Trail Masters Camping Club.
She is survived by a son, Colenzo (Joy) of Fayette; two daughters, Shirley Gerber (Don Pete) Nofziger and Connie Short, both of Archbold; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Harold Jr.; a brother, Truman Grieser; three sisters, Laura Rufenacht, Almeda Short and Martha Fielitz; and an infant grandchild.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Zion Mennonite Church, Pastor Ron Guengerich, Pastor Mona Sauder and Pastor Anne Stuckey officiating. Interment will precede at Pettisville Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Saturday at Fairlawn Chapel.
Short Funeral Home, Archbold, is in charge of the arrangements.

Showalter, Ida Ruth
, 87, of Broadway, Virginia died May 11, 2007 at Harrisonburg, Virginia.  She was born August 27, 1919 at Broadway, Virginia to Timothy and Susie (Shipe) Showalter.

, 78, of Waynesboro, VA died October 5, 2007 at Waynesboro, VA.  He was born March 12, 1929 in Augusta Co., VA to Ira and Edna (Shank) Showalter.  On August 25, 1951 he was married to Ann Marie Olesh, who was born November 22, 1931 and survives.

Surviving are children, Valerie Kay and M. Gregory Weaver, Brent R. and Melissa Showalter, and two grandchildren.

Also surviving are siblings: Dorothy S. Shank, Lois S. and Dr. Paul Herr, W. Milton and Mary Ellen Showalter, Ralph L. and Joyce Showalter.

Two sisters, Marjorie S. Shank, Shirley S. Minnich, and a brother, Winfred E. Showalter preceded her in death.

, 92, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia died November 17, 2007.  She was born November 19, 1914 at Stuarts Draft, Virginia  to Amos Henry and Lillie Harriet (Suter) Showalter. 

Surviving are a brother and his wife, Truman F. & Mildred Showalter.

Seven siblings, Elizabeth Martin, Anna Showalter, and Laura Showalter, Perry Showalter,

, 89, of Christiana, PA died March 28, 2007. She was born to William and Edna Heinrich (Province) Garrett. She was married to Leonard Shrom, who died December 25, 1990.

Surviving are children, Susan J. wife of Charles E French of Fairfax, VA, Bette A. wife of George J. Bateman of Woodlyn, PA, and Paul F. husband of Patti Froff Shrom of Cincinnati, OH.

Simpson, Anna Marie Weaver
, 86, of Millersburg, Holmes Co., Ohio died April 15, 2007 at the same place after an extended illness.  She was born August 7, 1920 at Walnut Creek, Holmes Co., Ohio  to Eli J. and Mary Ann (Hershberger) Weaver.  On October 19, 1963 she was married to Robert Simpson, who is deceased.

Skiles, John "Ezra," 87, of Madison, formerly of Elkhart, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born Dec. 30, 1919, in Rossville, the son of Daniel V. and Leah Metzler Skiles. He lived most of his life in Elkhart County and was a member of the Olive Mennonite Church in Elkhart. He was a tool maker for Star Machine Shop in Elkhart, retiring in 1985. He moved to Madison in 2002 and attended the Madison Mennonite Fellowship Church.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Knight Skiles, whom he married Aug. 2, 1941; three sons, Marvin Daniel Skiles of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dr. Melvin James Skiles and Dr. William Wayne Skiles, both of Madison; one daughter, Kathleen Kay Turner of Huntsville, Ala.; one sister, Alma Rule of Rossville; one brother, Joe Skiles of Wakarusa; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Carolyn Lee Skiles, who died in 1943; two sisters, Ida Brovont and Lydia Eller; four brothers, Noah, Ora, Marvin and Aaron Skiles; and one great-granddaughter.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Olive Mennonite Church, 61081 County Road 3 in Elkhart County. Burial will be in West Olive Cemetery in Elkhart County.

, 78, of Wakarusa, IN died February 24, 2007 from natural causes.  He was born March 24, 1928 to Neal and Fannie (Hochstetler) Slabaugh. He was married to Esta Hochstetler, who is deceased.

Surviving are children, Randall G. (Corinne) Slabaugh, Spooner, Wis., Barry E. (Susan) Slabaugh, Cave Creek, Ariz., and Robin L. (Beth) Slabaugh and Bruce E. (Sandy) Slabaugh, both of Goshen; two daughters, Cynthia G. (Bradley) Dixon, Middlebury, and Corinne J.
(Larry) Burkhart, Nappanee, 18 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving four sisters, Rosemary (Herb) Maust, Goshen, Judy (Leon) Hochstedler, Nappanee, Linda Slabaugh, Elkhart, and Shirley (Frank) Shoup, Massilon, Ohio; four brothers, Vernon “Bud” (Bette) Slabaugh, Syracuse, Paul (Janet) Slabaugh, Elkhart, Willard (Joy) Slabaugh, Wakarusa, and Jerry (Penny) Slabaugh, Nappanee.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Slabaugh, a granddaughter, Lindsay Slabaugh, and a sister, Kate Lederman.

, 71, of Arvada, CO died November 19, 2007 at Arvada, CO from cancer of the liver.  He was born April 7, 1936 at Lebanon, NE.  On August 26, 1961 he was married to Grace Schweitzer, who was born September 6, 1933 and survives.

Surviving are children, Laurie and Randall Goldman; Christie Smith and Leo Hebert, and 4 grandchildren.  Also brothers Ronald Smith and Eugene Smith; and a sister, Dorothy Evans.

 A brother, Reece Smith preceded him in death.

, 83, of New Holland, Pennsylvania died November 19, 2007 at New Holland, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania.  He was born October 14, 1924 at Intercourse, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania  to Joseph and Rachel (Lapp) Smoker.  On August 13, 1977 he was married to Muriel L. Lyndaker Fisher, who survives.  His first wife, Esther Zimmerman Smoker, died in 1976.

Surviving are children, June married to M. Glenn Horst; Jay C. Smoker; Karen married to Carl Martin; Joanne married to Bill Zimmerman; stepchildren - Debra married to James Miller; Blair Fisher companion of Janice Underwood; Darlene Robinson; Kurt Fisher,
10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a brother, Norman Smoker, husband of Esther Smoker.

A grandson, Jason Smoker, a brother, Paul Smoker, and two sisters, Mae Kauffman, and Elva Smoker preceded him in death.

He was an avid outdoorsman and charter member of the Hamilton Hunting Club, enjoyed gardening, camping, woodworking, spending time with family, and wintering in Florida.

Snyder, Harry W.
, 79, of Earl Township, entered into rest at Ephrata Community Hospital on Monday, November 12, 2007.

Born in Earl Township, he was a son of the late Harry N. and Emma Z. (Wenger) Snyder. He was married for 56 years to Esther W. (Stauffer) Snyder.

Mr. Snyder was a member of the New Holland Old Order Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference. He worked for 22 years at Earl Sauder Inc. feed mill and retired from farming in 2004.

Besides his wife, he is survived by nine children: Arlene and Emma Snyder, both at home, Lucy, married to Leon Hoover of Shippensburg, Ammon, married to Irene H. (Leinbach) Snyder of Pembroke, KY, Esther, married to Melvin Hoover, of Penn Yan, NY, Minerva, married to Harvey H. Leid, of Penn Yan, NY, Lydia, married to Timothy L. Weaver of Martinsburg, Harry, married to Edna (Shirk) Snyder of Woodbury, Marlin, married to Wilma (Zimmerman) Snyder of Martinsburg; five brothers, Clayton W., married to Ruth (Burkholder) Snyder of Kutztown, John Jacob, married to Minnie (Nolt) Snyder of Ephrata, Joseph, married to Verna (Stauffer) Snyder of Lititz, Earl Snyder of Colorado, Lloyd Z., married to Martha (Zimmerman) Snyder of Fredericksburg; three sisters, Katie, married to Raymond W. Nolt of Stevens, Anna Mary, married to Rufus Reiff of East Earl and Ella, married to Walter Fox of New York; 50 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sons, Cleason and Clemen; five brothers: Menno W., John W., Samuel W., Aaron Z., and David Z. Snyder; two sisters, Lena W. and Esther Z.; and one grandson.

Services will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, November 16, 2007 at the late residence, 793 N. Railroad Avenue, New Holland, with further services at 1:00 PM from the New Holland Old Order Mennonite Church, with Bishop Ben Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Thursday, November 15, at the late residence.

, 65, of Portland, Oregon died March 4, 2007 at Portland, Oregon in an auto accident. He was born April 3, 1941 at Portland, Oregon to Albert William and Mauriel Ethel (Nickerson) Snyder.  On March 27, 1971 he was married to Janet Green, who survives.

Surviving are children, Judy (Gregg Nussbaum) Snyder, Carol (Antony) Unzicker, Ellen (Michael II) Summy, Janice (George Jr.) Alexenko, James (Elaine)Snyder, Terry (Pamela) Snyder, Douglas (Kimberly) Snyder, Bruce (Cheryl) Snyder, 2 foster sons, Leonard Davis, John Bagley, 29 grandchildren, and 1 (2 on the way) great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are his siblings, Marilyn (John) Jackson, Carolyn Ely, John (Nona) Snyder, Clifford (Donna) Snyder, Gaylord (Ann) Snyder, and a sister-in-law, Betty Snyder.

 A brother, Stanley Snyder preceded him in death.

Vincent was a graduate of Goshen College and Goshen Biblical Seminary and a member of North Goshen Mennonite Church. He volunteered at the Depot and with Mennonite Disaster Service and was a former member of Goshen Exchange Club. Mr. Snyder participated in Christian Medical and Dental Society. He had been a manager at Sears Catalog Store,Goshen and a salesman for Warsaw Chemical. He was employed at John Hall's True Value Hardware.

, age 68, of Salford Twp., died Friday, June 8, 2007, at his residence. He was the husband of Judy. B. (Cassel) Souder, to whom he was married 42 years.

Born in Souderton, on June 13, 1938. He was the son of the late Asher B. and Anna Viola (Bickel) Souder. Mr. Souder was a self-employed painter and paperhanger.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children: Devin J. Souder and his wife Lisa, Jon Souder and, his wife Anita, all of Souderton, Leticia Hendler and her husband Robert of Willow Grove, Tammy Souder of Hereford, Patricia Souder of Phila., Rosita Souder of Hat-field, Allen Souder of Quakertown, Joseph, Breion and Vanessa Souder, all at home; Ten grandchildren; a brother Gerald B. Souder and his wife Marion of Harleysville; two sisters Doris Morgan wife of Richard, of Muskegon, Michi-gan and Elizabeth wife of the late Dr. Joseph Hoover of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

, 80, of Telford, PA died September 3, 2007 at Sellersville, PA from congestive heart failure. He was born December 8, 1926 at Telford, Pa to Preston and Emma (Ruth) Souder.  On January 1, 1948 he was married to Miriam W. Landes, who survives.

Surviving are children, Eileen Landis, Melodia Alderfer, Hannah Hunter, Elizabeth Kolb, Rebecca Essick, Cheryl Rittenhouse, Clair Souder, 18 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

SOUDER, PAUL F.
, age 93, a lifelong resident of Sellersville, died Sept. 12, [2007] at Rockhill Mennonite Community.  He was the husband of Grace B. (Detwiler) Souder for 69 years, at the time of her death in Feb.

Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Harvey A. and Bessie H. (Freed) Souder and attended Sell-Perk High School and Lansdale School of Business.

Paul's first job was in a local silk mill where he was responsible for inventory.  He also sold cars for his uncle's local dealership.  He was a commissioned merchant selling butter, eggs and produce in the Philadelphia area.  Upon the death of his father in 1939, he assumed responsibility for his family's poultry business and automobile and home owner's insurance agency.   Throughout the 1940's and 1950's he operated Highland Farms, his family homestead, selling day old turkey poults.  These poults were shipped to farmers throughout the tri-state area.  The eggs were hatched by his friend, the late Enos Godshall, owner of the former Godshall's Hatchery, Franconia. 

Upon his father's death, he also assumed his father's seat on the Board of Directors, at the former Sellersville Savings & Loan.  He served the organization for decades and as their president for 25 years.  During his presidency, branch offices were opened  in Perkasie and Quakertown.  He was a charter member of Penn Foundation for Mental Health, Sellersville, serving on their Board for many years.  Paul enjoyed antique and classic cars and was a member of the Model A Ford Club of America.

He loved to travel and enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing, snow and water skiing.  He raised horses and ponies. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a generous person supporting various charities with his time, financial advice and resources.  He was a longtime member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees, Building and Land Development Committees and Stewardship and Finance Committees.  In his youth and young adulthood, he was an active member of Rockhill Mennonite Church, Telford.
He is survived by three children:

Earl C. Landis and wife Dottie of Souderton.  Earl lived with the family during his teenage years,

Marie Shisler, of Harleysville, wife of the late Willard Shisler.

, 76, of Minier, IL died February 23, 2007 at Eureka, IL.  She was born April 24, 1930 at Minier, IL to Joseph and Alma (Good) Litwiller.  On October 11, 1952 she was married to Elmo Springer, who survives.

Surviving are children, Jeff, Tom, Mitch, Sue, Marge, and 17 grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother, Marvin Litwiller, and two sisters, Leona Slaubaugh, and Loretta Slaubaugh.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Litwiller, and Glenn Litwiller, and an infant sister.

, 82, of Hopedale, IL died October 6, 2007 at Eureka, Woodford Co., IL.  She was born April 4, 1, 1925 at Hopedale, IL to Eldon R. and Sadie (Sutter) Nafziger.  Eldon was born June 2, 1904 and died March 20, 1983.  Sadie was born November 17, 1906 and died November 14, 1997.

On November 12, 1947 at Hopedale she was married to Carrol C. Springer , who was born January 13, 1922 and died September 18, 1983.

Surviving are children, Randy (Rita) Springer, Jim (Brenda) Springer, and three  grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Eldon Dean (Laverne) Nafziger and a sister, LuEtta (Dr. Roger) Neumann.

 A daughter, Jean Carol Springer and a grandchild, Craig Springer preceded him in death.

Pauline graduated from Mennonite School of Nursing and worked as a nurse at Goshen General Hospital for one year. She was active in the Nursing Alumni of Mennonite School of Nursing. She was a member of Hopedale Mennonite church, where she had served as Sunday and Bible
school teacher for many years and as children's Sunday school superintendent. She was also a member of WMSC.

60, of Reno, NV died June 22, 2007 at Reno, NV from heart and respiratory failure.  He was born August 13, 1946 at Milford, Nebraska to Uriah M. and Edna L. (Troyer) Stauffer.  Uriah was born August 5, 1912 and died January 10, 1986.  Edna was born May 4, 1913 and died July 1, 1982.

PORT TREVORTON -- Kathy H. (Brubaker) Stauffer, 22, of Meiserville Road, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.

She was the wife of Joel B. Stauffer, having married on May 24, 2007.  Mrs. Stauffer was born on Jan. 10, 1985, in Juniata County, a daughter of Leroy M. and Faye A. (Horst) Brubaker of Mount Pleasant Mills. She was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by three brothers, Clyde, Clair and Wayne Brubaker, all at home; six sisters, Marlene Brubaker of Port Trevorton, Elaine, Nancy, Sandra, Rosanna and Joanne Brubaker, all at home; and maternal grandparents, Roy S. and Arlene S. Horst of Selinsgrove.

Mrs. Stauffer was preceded by her paternal grandparents, Frank S. and Mildred L. Brubaker.

The family will receive friends for the viewing from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the family residence at 38 Meiserville Road, Port Trevorton. There will be further services at noon Tuesday at the family residence then the funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. from Chapman Old Order Mennonite Church, Blackwoods Road, Port Trevorton.  Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The George P. Garman Funeral Home Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Steiner, Mildred Esther Metzler
, 94, of Goshen, IN died November 29, 2007 at Goshen, Indiana.  She was born January 23, 1913 at Columbiana, Ohio to Harvey Allen and Edith (Rickert) Metzler.  Harvey was born April 2, 1877 and died February 15, 1957.  Edith was born August 19, 1879 and died February 21, 1961.

On June 6, 1936 at her parent’s home, Columbiana, Ohio she was married to John S. Steiner, who was born July 24, 1912 and died November 3, 1990.

Surviving are children, Sylvia (Don) Miller; J. (Lillian) Steiner; Wes (Margaret) Steiner; Janet (Michael O'Malley) Steiner; Joan (Dave) Vogt; 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister, Laura Metzler.

Three sisters, Rena (John) Cullar, Sarah Metzler, and Ruth (James) Steiner preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held December 2, 2007 at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen, Elkhart County, Indiana with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Beulah A. Stamm Stockburger, 95, of West Unity died Wednesday at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home, Archbold.
Born Jan. 19, 1912, near Archbold, she was the daughter of Gustav and Priscilla (Stuckey) Stamm. On Dec. 25, 1939, she married Claire Stockburger, who preceded her in death May 6, 1975.
A life-long member of the Mennonite Church, she was a member of Lockport Mennonite Church, rural Stryker.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Myron) Shenk of Albany, Ore.; three sons, Ronald (Sheila) of Archbold, Roger of West Unity and Daryl (Micky) of Crystal Springs, Texas; three sisters, Geneva (Luther) Shetler of Bluffton and Zelma Kauffman and Grace Eicher, both of Archbold; three brothers, Paul Stamm of Colorado Springs, Colo., Harold Stamm of Wauseon and Duane (Betty) Stamm of Archbold; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Erma Short and Wilma Roth; and a brother, Denver Stamm.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Lockport Mennonite Church, Pastor Pamela Short, Myron Shenk and Timothy Shenk officiating. Interment will precede at 10:30 a.m. at Lockport Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at Short Funeral Home, Archbold, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Lockport Mennonite Church Memorial Fund, Mennonite Central Committee or Mennonite Mission Network.

Stoltzfus, Lena G Stoltzfus
, 98, of Gap, PA died June 17, 2007 at Lititz, PA. She was born November 4, 1908 at Gap, PA to Rufus and Matilda (Blank) Stoltzfus. She was married to Rev. Abner G. Stoltzfus, who was born January 30, 1906 and died August 9, 1980.

Surviving are children, Dr. Virgil D. & wife Doris Stoltzfus, Dr. Richard G. & wife Elaine Stoltzfus, Marlene wife of I. Eby Hershey, Ronald & wife Donna Stoltzfus, Janice wife of
Donald Carpener, 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, four brothers, and five sisters.

She was a member of Maple Grove Sewing Circle. A homemaker, Lena was very gifted in
hospitality. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and quilting.

Memorial services were held June 23, 2007 at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Atglen, Chester Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

She was a member of Mennonite Church USA.

Stoltzfus, Lois E.
, 80, died June 18, 2007 at Lancaster, PA.  She was born December 11, 1926 in Chester County, PA to Amos K. and Ruth (Stoltzfus) Stoltzfus.  She enjoyed collecting knickknacks.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Llewellyn Stoltzfus.

Memorial services were held June 23, 2007 at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Atglen, Chester Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Sutter, Lyle Ervin,
82, of Flanagan, IL died June 10, 2007 from cancer.  He was born September 19, 1924 at home SW of Hopedale, IL to Ervin H. and F. Marie (Litwiller) Sutter.  He was married to Merna L. Ringenberg, who survives.

Surviving are children, Kay (Paul) Kreider, Springfield, OH; Donald Sutter, Pontiac, IL; Thomas (Debra) Sutter, Urbana, IL; Jane Sutter, Whiteriver, AZ; Mary Sutter, Indianapolis, IN; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services were held June 16, 2007 at Prairieview Mennonite Church, Flanagan, Livingston Co., IL with burial in Waldo Township Cemetery, Gridley, Livingston Co., IL.

She was a member of Mennonite Church USA.

Swartzendruber, Glen
, 90, of Pigeon, Michigan died May 2, 2007 at Bad Axe, Michigan from natural causes. He was born September 16, 1916 at Iowa County, Iowa to George and Naomi (Swartzendruber) Swartzendruber.  On December 18, 1938 he was married to Erma Swartzendruber (b. October, 20, 1913), who survives.

Surviving are children, Lowell (Cathern) Swartzendruber, Clarence Swartzendruber, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are siblings, Velma Swartzendruber Esch, Lawrence Swartzendruber, Edna Swartzendruber (Gerald) Gascho.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin (Erma) Swartzendruber, and a sister, Katie Swartzendruber (Herbert) Albrecht.

Memorial services were held May 5, 2007 at Pigeon River Mennonite Church, Pigeon, Michigan
with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

He was a member of Mennonite Church USA.

Swartzendruber, Lloyd Ralph
, 91, of Kalona, IA died February 1, 2007 at Kalona , IA from cancer.  He was born September 25, 1915 at Parnell, IA to Isaac and Barbara (Swartzendruber) Swartzendruber.  On August 12, 1939 he was married to Alda Burkey who survives.

Surviving are children, Rose Anna Roberson, Arthur Swartzendruber, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held February 5, 2007 at West Union Mennonite Church, Parnell, IA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

He was a member of Mennonite Church USA.
