He was born November 15, 1915 at Line Lexington, Bucks County,
Pennsylvania to Allen Sampie and Lizzy (Kulp) Walter. Allen was
born April 8, 1884 and died in June 1957. Lizzy was born April
11, 1887 and died August 21, 1968.
On April 2, 1940 at Line Lexington, Bucks County, Pennsylvania he was
married to Ruth Christophel, who was born March 23, 1918 and died April
17, 1988.
Surviving are children, Nancy Lou Bitikofer wife of Ervin D. Bitikofer,
Fern Kay Moyer wife of Richard A. Moyer, Kenneth Lee Walter, husband of
Susan L. Walter, James Marlin Walter, husband of Mary Ellen Walter,
Ruth Ann Speicher wife of David Speicher, Robert Carl Walter husband of
Diane Walter, Darlene Marie Walter, 13 grandchildren, 12
great-grandchildren, and a brother, Theordore Walter, husband of Arlene
Walter.
A son, David Earl Walter, and a daughter, Betty Jane Walter preceded
him in death.
Carroll helped with the beginning work at Haycock Mennonite Church and
was a faithful member of the Haycock congregation. He worked with Salem
Mennonite Church with the beginnings and in later years as a
member. He was very active with the youth and other positions
with the church even in later years.
Memorial services were held September 22, 2007 at Salem Mennonite
Church, Quakertown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania with burial in Line
Lexington Mennonite Church Cemetery, Line Lexington, Pennsylvania.

Schmidt. On July 1, 1955, at Marion, Turner County, South Dakota
she was married to John Dean Waltner.

James H., 76, of Goshen, IN died December 18, 2007 at Goshen,
Indiana from cancer. He was born September 7, 1931 at Marion,
South Dakota to Henry and Ida (Kaufman) Waltner. On June 1, 1956
at Mountain Lake, Minnesota he was married to Lenore Pankratz, who was
born July 7, 1934 and survives.
Surviving are children, Rachel (Duane) Goossen; Tim (Sandy) Waltner;
JoAn (Rob) Thieszen, and 3 grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Harris (Christine) Waltner, a sister,
Hilda (Kenneth) Kaufman, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Waltner.
Two brothers, Harold Waltner and Calvin Waltner preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Feeman Academy and Junior College, Freeman, SD,
attended
Bethel College, N. Newton KS, and graduated from Mennonite Biblical
Seminary
in Chicago in 1958. He completed a D.Min. degree at Claremont
School of Theology, Claremont, CA.
He served as pastor at Salem Mennonite Church, Freeman, SD; Tabor
Mennonite Church, Newton, KS; First Mennonite Church, Upland, CA; First
Mennonite Church/Mennonite Church of Normal, Normal, IL; and College
Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN.
He authored "This We Believe," a catechism study book for young people,
in 1967, and "Psalms," a volume in the Believers Church Bible
Commentary series, published in 2006.
He served as president of Pacific District and Central District of the
General Conference Mennonite Church, the General Board of the General
Conference, chair of the Mennonite Biblical Seminary Board and
moderator of the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference, was overseer
for five congregations of the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference,
and served 12
years on the Oaklawn board.
Memorial services were held December 30, 2007 at College Mennonite
Church, Goshen, IN with burial in Freeman, South Dakota.

Danny Vivian Davis, 92, of Paradis, LA died August 8 2007 at
Jefferson, Jefferson Parish, LA from a stroke and fall. She
was born May 3, 1915 at Prentiss, Jefferson Davis Co., MS to Leonard
Clifton and Suzanna (Buxton) Davis. On September 15, 1935 she was
married to Orville Mennaugh Waterman, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Orville Hallington Waterman; wife, Terry,
twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Benny Basco Waterman and Infant
son Michael Franklin Waterman, a daughter, Patricia Ann Gaubert
Callaway, one sister, Sadie McRaney, and two brothers, F.M. Davis, and
Charles Curtis Davis.
She had a Ph.D. in education from St. Mary's Dominican College in New
Orleans and served as principal for many years at the St. Charles
Parish Special Education facility. After retirement, she served
in the Alaskan School system as an asst. superintendent.

Church, Des Allemands, St. Charles Parish, LA with burial in Westlawn

death by her first husband, Paul N. Martin in 1935 and by her second
husband, Rev. Luke S. Weaver in 1990.

Weaver, David Kurtz, 55, of 6282 County Road A, Lena, Wis., died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007. David was born Aug. 3, 1951, in Lancaster County Pa., son of Clarence and Mary Weaver.
He and his wife, Martha Rose, were enroute to a funeral in Maryland. They stopped overnight with her sister and family in Ohio where David passed away peacefully in his sleep around 5:15 a.m. from apparent heart problem.
He leaves behind his grieving wife, Martha Rose Weaver, whom he married Sept. 23, 1973; seven sons, Jason (Lois) of Colorado, Anthony (Katrina) of Pennsylvania, and Glendon, Dale Mathew, Kevin, Justin and Andrew at home; two daughters, Janette (Nevin) Landis of Wisconsin and Darlene (Daniel) Eberly of Wisconsin; a grandson; and five granddaughters; six brothers, Noah (Erma) of Pennsylvania, James (Naomi) of Pennsylvania, Ammon (Elizabeth) of Pennsylvania, Aaron (Minerva) of Pennsylvania, Jesse (Martha) of Pennsylvania, Mahlon of Pennsylvania; nine sisters, Miriam, of Pennsylvania, Esther (Steve) Miller of Pennsylvania, Mary (Donald) Miller of Alberta Canada, Martha (John) Slaymaker of Pennsylvania, Rebecca (Lyle) Martin of Barwick Canada, Julia (Lynn) Heller of Pennsylvania, Corinne (Allen) Weaver of Maryland, Rhoda (Curtis) Grice of Maryland, Priscilla (Merle) Torkelson of Alberta, Canada; and his parents.

Weaver, Mary Jane Kilmer
ELKHART -- Mary Jane Weaver, 88, of 59983 C.R. 1, died Sept. 28, 2007,
at the home of her children in Portal, Ariz., after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Jimtown to Frances Leonard and Herbert
Kilmer. In 1943, she married Arthur Weaver. He died in 1999.
She is survived by a son, Dr. Loren Weaver, DVM, of Constantine, Mich.,
and Portal, Ariz.; and a daughter, Frances (Peter) Grill of Portal; a
brother, Warren of Valparaiso; and a sister, Lois (Chuck) Wernicke of
Swannanoa, N.C.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Oct. 20 at Hively Avenue Mennonite
Church, 800 E. Hively Ave., Elkhart, of which she was a member. Burial
will precede the service.
Mrs. Weaver was a graduate of Jimtown High School and Goshen College.
She taught elementary school in Elkhart and Jimtown and worked at
JCPenney for many years. In 1952, she started the first private
kindergarten in the county in her home on the farm in Jimtown. She was
involved in the local home economics club and 4-H, helping to develop
the llama club in Elkhart County. She hosted exchange students from
Brazil, Kenya, Taiwan and Russia. Her love of learning led her to
complete the Master Gardener Course in Elkhart County and take a
Spanish class.

(07/16/1905-11/13/1978). On November 21 1959 at New Bremen, NY he
was married to Betty Anna Roggie, who was born July 28, 1936 and
survives.
Surviving are children, Lynn and Charlene Widrick, Neil and Arisa
Widrick, Nicholas and Gail (Widrick) Kogut, John and Kari (Widrick)
Taylor, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchildren.

Frances Widrick; Glenn and Anna Margie Widrick; Ronald and Imelda

He served two years in 1-W voluntary service and was retired after 44
years with Climax Mfg. Co. He donated the most blood in Lewis
County, NY - over 13 gallons in his lifetime.

On October 20, 1951 in Chicago, IL he was married to Marilyn Jean
Messer, who was born July 5, 1932 and survives.
Surviving are children, Lori, Deborah, Matthew, Barbara, Suzanne, Mari
Lyn, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Wade, and Virginia and Morris
Frederick.

Mrs. Yoder was born De-cember 4, 1944, in Arthur. She was a daughter of
Menno L. and Anna Mast Stutzman. She married Joe A. Yoder on October
25, 1967, in Arthur. He survives.

Mechanicsville, Va. passed away Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Heritage
Green of Hanover after a two-year battle with lung and brain cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, E. Duane Yoder; three sons
and wives, Timothy Yoder and (Fifi) of Mechanicsville, Christopher
Yoder and (Chia-Wei) of Washington, D.C., Jeffrey Yoder and (Marketa)
of Bristow, Va. She is survived by five grandchildren, Samuel,
Nicholas, Maria, Alexander and Noah. She is survived by her brother,
Paul Sieber of Champaign, Ill. and sister-in- law, Martha Sieber; and
sister- in-law Loraine Sieber of Freeport, Ill.; also surviving,
nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by
her parents, Boyd and Katie Sieber of Freeport, Ill.; two brothers,
Floyd and Samuel; and sister, Grace. Mary was born near Dakota, Ill.
and attended Dakota schools. She always enjoyed telling people she was
an Illinois farm girl. Mary received her nursing degree from the former
Deaconess Hospital, now Freeport Memorial, Freeport, Illinois. She
loved to work in the surgical unit of the hospital. Her last employment
for 20 years was at Fort Wayne, Indiana, Parkview Hospital. Her
greatest pleasure was working in her garden with flowers of all kinds,
traveling was also a part of her life, visiting four other continents.
After her retirement she worked as a volunteer in a maple sugar camp
showing school children how sap from maple trees became syrup. She also
served as a hospice volunteer and as a volunteer for the church helping
wherever needed. Mary accepted Christ as her Savior in her youth. She
was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Richmond, Va. Remains rest
at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis
Rd., where family will receive friends Saturday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. from the First
Mennonite Church, 601 E. Parham Rd. Memorial contributions may be made
to the First Mennonite Church.

5, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Sunnyside
Mennonite Church 475 E. State Rt. 133, Arcola. Rev. Larry Rocke and
Rev. Dave Miller officiated. Burial was in the Sunnyside Mennonite

Arthur, IL went to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:11 p.m. Monday,
July 23, 2007, at Gowin Parc in Mattoon.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at Arthur Mennonite Church
with Pastor Glen Rhodes officiating. Burial was in Arthur Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday afternoon and evening at the church. Edwards
Funeral Home, Arcola, assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Yoder was born December 18, 1917, in Arthur. He was the son of Noah
and Eliza Yoder. He married Fannie Chupp on November 3, 1938, in
Arthur. They were married 68 years. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Levi Yoder and wife Gloria of
Lovington; four daughters, Sarah Storm and husband Dick of Arthur,
Katie Haines and husband Leland.of Goshen, Indiana, Elsie Gingerich and

Mr. Yoder was a retired farmer and was an International Harvester
dealer in Arthur from 1969 to 1978. He was a member of the Arthur
Mennonite Church.
He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and especially his
grandchildren.
He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, and grandpa; he enjoyed
going to church, spending time in God's word, and he was a man of
prayer.

25, 2007, at Archbold Hospital.
She was born May 18, 1913, in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Moses and
Catherine (Yoder) Mishler. In [10-8-] 1939, she married Leo Yoder, who
survives. She was a homemaker, baked and sold homemade bread and rolls
and was a member of Tedrow Mennonite Church.
Also surviving are a son, Joe (Miriam), Keezletown, Va.; two daughters,
Sheryl (Bob) Miller of Kalona and Eileen (Roland) Myers, Lebanon, Pa.;
and six grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Arletta Mattsson-Boze; two
brothers, Jacob and Robert Mishler; and two sisters, Ida Keim and Mary
Swartzendruber.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Tedrow Mennonite Church with
Pastor Randy Nafziger officiating. Burial will precede services at 2
p.m. Sunday in Pettisville Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m.

Melvin enjoyed collecting toy tractors, especially John Deere. He
maintained an extensive pen and pencil collection and was a member of
the American Pencil Collector's Society. He was actively involved in
the East Bend Mennonite Church and enjoyed interacting with friends and
family. Melvin was devoted to helping others including disaster relief
work and assisting neighbors, young and old, in many ways. Melvin was a
wonderful husband, father,
grandfather, and friend. He was a gentle but strong man, and his family
loved him dearly.

Meteorology from Penn State University in 1961. >From 1961 to 1963,
Merlin worked for the Mennonite Central Committee. In 1963 Merlin began
his career with the PA Dept. of Environmental Resources and in 1979
became a Certified Consulting Meteorologist. Merlin continued his
career in environmental resources and eventually retired as an Air
Quality Program Specialist in the year 2000. He was a member of Slate
Hill Mennonite Church [Camp Hill, PA] where he was a Sunday School
Teacher for over 40 years. He enjoyed bird watching, astronomy,
studying rocks and fossils, Ancient Greek language and loved reading.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Maxine Hartzler Zook; a son, Kevin
R. Zook of Lawrenceville, GA; a daughter, Kathleen J. and her husband
Jeff Klassen; a grandson, Aaron F. Klassen, all of Richmond, VA; and
his twin brother, Mervin D. Zook of Goshen, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday in Slate Hill
Mennonite Church, 1352 Slate Hill Road, Camp Hill.[PA], Burial will be
in Slate Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday
in the church.
Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, [PA] is handling the arrangements.
