Gable, Lorene Smith,
80, of Orrville, Ohio died May 1, 2009 at Cleveland, Ohio following a short illness.  She was born June 12, 1928 in Virginia to William and Layona (McDorman) Smith.  On June 22, 1949 at Columbiana, Ohio she was married to Chester W. Gable.

Surviving are children, Gary W. Gable, Cathy Gable, and Barb (Ron) Steiner, and three grandchildren.

A sister, Lottie Gable preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held May 7, 2009 at Orrville Mennonite Church, Orrville, Wayne County, Ohio with burial in Oak Grove Mennonite Cemetery, Smithville, Wayne County, Ohio.

Gehman, Paul W.
, 72, of Lancaster, PA died June 22, 2009 at home with his family by his side. Hw was born in West Earl Township, to Paul E. and Mary Weaver Gehman. He was married to Velma Sensenig Gehman for 52 years.

He was a 1955 graduate of Lancaster Mennonite High School and a member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church where he served as a faithful Sunday school teacher for over fifty years. He was also a youth leader for many years. In the early 1980s, Paul realized his dream of owning and operating a Christian film library. He ministered to thousands through the media of films.

Survived by his wife, a son, Kenneth E. husband of Tara Gehman of Lebanon, PA; a daughter, Cheryl L. wife of Bruce D. Gainer of Manheim, PA; two grandsons, Jeremiah Gainer and Isaac Gehman and a sister, Joyce wife of Ervan Stoltzfus of Lancaster, PA.

A Memorial Service was June 28, 2009 at East Petersburg Mennonite Church. Interment was in East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery East Petersburg, PA.

Geib, Ruth S. Shenk
, 87, of Lititz, PA. (formerly of Mount Joy, PA) died March 28, 2009, at Landis Homes, Lititz, PA. She was born in Rapho Twp. Lancaster Co, PA to Benjamin H. and Ella Z. (Erb) Shenk. She was the widow of Paul S. Geib who died July 22, 2006.

Ruth was a member of Landisville Mennonite Church, Landisville, PA.

Survived by stepsons, Donald S. Geib of Maytown, PA; Paul Eugene Geib of Lancaster, PA; a step-daughter, Linda Lou wife of Larry O. Radle of Mount Joy, PA; two step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna W. Martin of Manheim, PA.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin E. and Henry E. Shenk; and two sisters, Esther M. Brubaker and Naomi E. Breneman.

Funeral service was April 2, 2009 at the Landisville Mennonite Church with Pastor Randall Shull officiating. Interment was in Landisville Mennonite Cemetery, Landisville, PA.

Geib, Ruth S. Shenk, 87, of Lititz, Lancaster Co., PA died at the same place in Landis Homes on March 28, 2009.  She was born May 5, 1921 in Rapho Twp., Lancaster Co., PA to Benjamin H. and Ella Z. (Erb) Shenk.  On May 5, 1984 she was married to Paul S. Geib, who was born March 9, 1914 and died July 22, 2006.

Surviving are stepsons: Donald S. Geib, and Paul Eugene Geib, a stepdaughter, Linda Lou, wife of Larry O. Radle; 2 step-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren and a sister, Anna W. Martin.

Two brothers, Benjamin E. and Henry E. Shenk, and two sisters, Esther M. Brubaker and Naomi E. Breneman preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held April 2, 2009at Landisville Mennonite Church, Landisville, Lancaster Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Gerber, Brenda D. Miller
, 36, of Dalton, Ohio died January 28, 2009 at Dalton, Ohio after an eight-month illness.  She was born May 10, 1972 at Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio to Rex and Diane (Ramsier) Miller.  On July 3, 1993 at Orrville, Ohio she was married to Jeremy L. Gerber.

Surviving are her husband, her parents, a son, Brandon S. Gerber, a daughter, Brooke N. Gerber, a brother, Brad A. (Tabatha) Miller, and a sister, Beth (Nate) Yutzy.

Memorial services were held February 2, 2009 at Living Water Community Church, Dalton, Wayne County, Ohio with burial in Dalton Cemetery, Dalton, Wayne County, Ohio.

Gerber, Clarence R.
90, of Kidron, OH died January 15, 2009, at Shady Lawn Health Care Community in Dalton, OH. He was born, on January 5, 1919, near Orrville, OH to Menno and Anna (Moser) Gerber and lived all of his life near Kidron, OH. On June 6, 1967, he married Lydia Steiner. She died September 7, 2005.

He was a member of Kidron Mennonite Church  and a retired farmer.

He is survived by two sisters, Pauline Badertscher of Goshen, Ind., and Iona Hofstetter of Wadsworth, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters, Nola Gerber, Mabel Wanner and Goldie Lehman.

Funeral service was January 17, 2009 at Kidron Mennonite Church with the Rev. Terry Shue officiating. Burial will be in the Kidron Mennonite Church cemetery, Kedron, OH.

Gerber, Earl E.
, 88, of Hastings, Nebraska died April 20, 2009 at the same place.  He was born December 8 1920 at Harper, Kansas to Joseph and Ida (Yoder) Gerber.  On March 28, 1948 at Chappell, Nebraska he was married to Helen A. Oswald.

Surviving are children, Susanne (Don) Smith; Pat (Ben) Pauls; Carole and Ron Denlinger; Terry and Becky Gerber; 9 grandchildren, a brother, Emery Gerber & wife Joann; a sister, Leona Hostetler and husband George; and sister-in-law, Lois Gerber.

His parents, brothers, Clarence, Marion, and Clayton, and sisters Eula and Lela
preceded him in death.

He was a member of Julesburg Mennonite Church, Julesburg, Colorado.

Memorial services were held April 25, 2009 at Holechek Funeral Home (Former Chappell Mennonite Church) Chappell, Deuel County, Nebraska.  Officiating Minister, Pastor Arthur Roth.  Burial was in the Mennonite Cemetery, Chappell, Nebraska.

Gerber, Kathryn Elderene Bame
, 93, of Bluffton, OH died April 20, 2009 at the same place.  She was born October 28, 1915 to Sam and Sara (Diller) Bame and married to Robert Gerber, who is deceased.

Surviving are a son, David Gerber, two daughters, Marjorie Closson and
Karen Gerber.

Memorial services were held April 23, 2009 at Chiles & Sons Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton, OH with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bluffton, OH.

Gerber, Loretta Joy Miller
, 80, of Benton, OH died August 12, 2009 at the same place from lymphoma.  She was born October 19, 1928 in Holmes County, Ohio to Dan and Mildred Miller.  She was married to Dennis Gerber.

Surviving are a daughter, Connie (spouse John) _____, 2 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held August 15, 2009 at Martins Creek Mennonite Church, Holmes County, Ohio with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Gerber, Willowdean A. High

 
MISHAWAKA -- Willowdean A. Gerber, 83, of New Road, died at 1 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 27, 2009) at Hospice House, South Bend.

She was born Aug. 28, 1925, in Wakarusa to Edgar and Fern (Secor) High. On Aug. 7, 1948, she married Dr. Wayne Gerber in Wakarusa.

He survives along with two sons, Jim (Bonnie) Gerber of Mishawaka and Dan (Karen) Gerber of Granger; one daughter, Hope Olson of Mishawaka; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leota (John) Ecklebarger of New Paris.

One grandson, Christopher Gerber, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gerber was a 1943 graduate of Wakarusa High School, received her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Goshen College and received her master's degree in early childhood education from Ball State University. She was a teacher and professor of early childhood development at Indiana University South Bend and Bethel College. She was a member of Beulah Missionary Church.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Olive (West) Cemetery. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Beulah Missionary Church. Dr. Albert Beutler, assisted by Pastor Jack McGlasson, will officiate.

Memorials may be given to Bethel College.

Gingerich, Katie Stutzman
, 93, Goshen, IN died April 9, 2009. She was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Haven, Kan., to Joseph and Amelia (Miller) Stutzman. On Dec.19, 1939, she married Moses Gingerich in LaGrange County.

Survivied by her husband  and two daughters, Mary Ellen (Wayne) Mishler, Goshen, IN and Esther (Mike) Miller, Cochran, Pa.; four sons, Alton (Fannie) Gingerich, Goshen, IN; Elmer (Lavina) Gingerich, Mountain View, Ark., Melvin (Elsie) Gingerich, Topeka, IN and Ura (Helen) Gingerich, Goshen, IN; 23 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jerry, Wally and Willard Stutzman; and five sisters, Lizzie Stutzman, Rachael Stutzman, Mary Stutzman, Fannie Borntrager and Amanda Miller.

Funeral service was April 13, 2009 at the Fairhaven Amish-Mennonite Church and conducted by Bishop Wilbur Yoder. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen, IN

Gingerich, Philip E.
, 87, of Goshen died February 28, 1009 at Goshen, Elkhart County, Indiana from a heart attack.  He was born March 19, 1921 at Princeton, Illinois to Albert J. and Josephine (Miller) Gingerich.  On June 8, 1947 at Chicago, Illinois he was married to Faith Cooley, who was born August 6, 1921 and died September 14, 1997.

Surviving are children, Joan (Tim) Morningstar, Goshen, IN; Susan (Dean) Shetler, Goshen, IN; Amy (Jay) Schrock, Goshen, IN; Paul (Joan) Gingerich, Elkhart, IN; Stan (Marlene) Gingerich, Goshen, IN and Mark (Georgia) Gingerich, Goshen, IN; 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a brother, Delbert (Joreen) Gingerich, Goshen, IN.

A brother, William Gingerich and a granddaughter, Heather Gingerich, 1983 preceded him in death.

Philip was a retired farmer and auto dealer.  He was a member of Clinton Frame Mennonite Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving
from August 1942 to February 1946.

Memorial services were held March 4, 2009 at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, Goshen, Indiana with burial in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen, Indiana.

Gingerich, Rollin J.
, 94, of Kalona, Washington County, Iowa died July 13, 2009 at the same place from natural causes.  He was born June 15, 1915 Joetown, Johnson County, Iowa to Charles and Nettie (Miller) Gingerich.  On March 28, 1937 he was married to Kathryn Kauffman, who is deceased.

Surviving are children, Faye and Clair Brenneman; Warren and Esther Gingerich; Lois and Duane Beck; Orval and Cleta Gingerich; and Karen Gingerich; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Wagamon Jeanne Wallerich.

A son, Don Gingerich, three brothers, Clarence Gingerich, Wayne Gingerich, and
Leo Gingerich, and two sisters, Hilda Fisher Myrtle Rensberger preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held August 8, 2009 at Kalona Mennonite Church, Kalona,  Iowa with burial in Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona, Iowa.

Gingerich, Rosalee E. Schrock
, 84, of Goshen, IN died December 8, 2009 at Elkhart, IN.  She was born October 9, 1925 at Garden City, MO to Daniel Ora and Eldora (Byler) Schrock.  On August 14, 1948 at Garden City, MO she was married to Eli L. Gingerich, who was born September 13, 1928 and died November 20, 1998.

Surviving are children, LuAnn (Michael) Stampfler; Eric (Joann) Gingerich; Kevin (Kim) Gingerich; Steven (Cathy) Gingerich 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a sister, Bernice Yoder; and three brothers, Maurice (Virginia) Schrock; John D. (Phyllis) Schrock; and Coburn (Doris) Schrock.

A sister, Zana Smith; and four brothers, Daniel Schrock; Eldon Schrock; Clifford Schrock; and Leonard Schrock preceded her in death.

Rosalee attended Goshen College and taught in a one-room schoolhouse in the Garden City, Mo., area for many years before moving to Goshen in 1951.  She developed cooking and baking skills and served many wonderful meals in their home.   She authored a cookbook in 1996 for family and friends.  Rosalee taught herself to play the piano and spent many hours playing with grandchildren on the bench beside her.  She played piano for the Sunday morning worship services at Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, Ind., for many years.

Memorial services were held December 11, 2009 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN with burial in Violett Cemetery, Goshen, IN.

Gingerich, Rosalee E. Schrock, 84, of Elkhart, IN and formerly of Goshen, IN died December 8, 2009, at Woodland Manor in Elkhart, IN. She was born October 9, 1925, in Garden City, Missouri, to Daniel Ora and Eldora (Byler) Schrock.  She married Eli L. Gingerich on August 14, 1948 in Garden City, IN.  He preceded her in death on November 20, 1998.

Mrs. Gingerich attended College Mennonite Church.  She loved to cook and authored a cookbook.  She enjoyed playing the piano and played for Sunday morning worship service at Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa.

Survived by a daughter, LuAnn (Michael) Stampfler of Portage, MI; three sons, Eric (Joann) Gingerich of Oxford, PA, Kevin (Kim) Gingerich of Garland, TX, and Steven (Cathy) Gingerich of Goshen; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a sister, Bernice Yoder of Hesston, Kansas; and three brothers, Maurice (Virginia) Schrock of Pontiac, IL, John Dale (Phyllis) Schrock of Hesston, KS, and Coburn (Doris) Schrock of Garden City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Zana Smith; and four brothers, Daniel, Eldon, Clifford and Leonard Schrock. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 10, in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church.

A 9:00 a.m., Friday, December 11, 2009, prayer service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with burial to follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
An 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 11, memorial service will be held at College Mennonite Church with Pastors Klaudia Smucker and Betty Hochstetler officiating.

Gingrich, Edna Martin
, 93, of 552 W. Conestoga St., New Holland, died peacefully Thursday, September 10, 2009 at her home after a brief illness.

Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Frank Z. and Anna (Hoover)* Martin. She was the wife of Irvin B. Gingrich. They would have
celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on Nov. 29.

She worked 20 years at the former Victor F. Weaver Poultry, New Holland. Prior to that she worked at Spring Glen Foods, Ephrata. She also volunteered at Welsh
Mt. Home and New Holland Re-Uzit Shop and hosted Fresh Air children for many years.

She was a member of Goodville Mennonite Church where she was active in the sewing circle.

She loved the Lord and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had many friends and a great sense of humor. She found great joy in serving others.

Surviving in addition to her husband are seven children, Mildred, married to Charles Wert of Lancaster, Lorraine, married to Amos Hess of Witmer, Carl M.,
married to Ruth Ann (Eberly) Gingrich of New Holland, Kenneth M., married to Judy (Black) Gingrich of New Holland, Irvin, Jr., married to Marlene (Weaver) Gingrich of Leola, Lois A. Garman of Manheim, and Susan J., married to Nelson Martin of East Earl; 22 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren.

Funeral service was September 14, 2009 at the Goodville Mennonite Church with the Rev. Bruce Sauder and the Rev.Nelson Martin officiating. Interment was in the Goodville Mennonite Cemetery, Goodville, PA.

Glick, Isaac S.
, 97, of Lancaster, PA died Saturday March 14, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County. He was born in Upper Leacock Twp., Lancaster Co., PA, to Jacob R. and Anna Stoltzfus Glick. He was married M. Martha Shetler Glick.

He was a member of Media Mennonite Chapel where he was the chorister and was a member of Ridgeview Mennonite Church, Gordonville, PA.

Survived by five children: Frances C. Dorn of Washington, NC; Doris S. Stauffer of Lititz,  PA; J. Roy husband of Dawn M. Dommel Glick of New Danville, PA;Mary L. wife of Marlin R. Zimmerman of Landisville, PA; Delmar W. husband of Teresa M. Glick of Millersville, PA; twelve grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a sister, Amanda Smucker of Gordonville, PA.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Louise Glick, two brothers and seven sisters.

, 85, of Quarryville, PA died January 29, 2009 at Lancaster, Lancaster Co, PA.  She was born November 26, 1923 at Gap, PA to Samuel F. and Susie (Lantz) Lapp.  On November 4, 1943 she was married to Aaron S. Glick, who was born November 6, 1921 and died August 13, 2007.

Surviving are children, Samuel L. husband of Anna Mary Gingrich Glick; John V. Glick;  Kenneth J. Glick; Merle E. husband of Denise Eckman Glick; J. A son, Marvin L. Glick, three grandchildren, Kristi Glick, Christopher Glick, and Haleigh Glick, brothers, Jonas, John, Samuel, Isaac, Emanuel, Amos, Jonathan, Christ, Melvin and Leroy Lapp, and sisters, Lydia King, and Elizabeth Stoltzfus preceded her in death.

Susie and husband Aaron founded Maplehofe Dairy Inc. of Quarryville, where she enjoyed meeting people and dipping ice cream. They would spend winters in Sarasota, FL. She loved quilting and playing games. Her goal in life was to share Jesus with soneone everyday.

Memorial services were held February 3, 2008 at Maple Grove Mennonite Church of Atglen, Atglen, Chester Co., PA with burial in Ridgeview Mennonite Cemetery, Gordonville, Lancaster Co., PA.

Glick, Thelma A. Stoltzfus
, 95, of Belleville, Mifflin Co., PA died November 20,2009 at the same place. 

She was born March 20, 1914 at Belleville to John William and Annie B. (Zook) Stolzfus.  John William was born June 29, 1883 and died December 22, 1969.  Annie was born December 29, 1879 and died January 28, 1951.

On March 12, 1938 at Belleville she was married to Elam Henry Glick, who was born June 22, 1914 and died December 30, 2008.

Surviving are children, Esther Glick Wert (Robert), Goshen, IN; Darlis Glick, Newburgh, NY; and Del Glick (Twila Frey), Washington, DC, 3 grandchildren,  and 2 great-grandchildren.

A son, Loren, died December 24, 1958, at age 19 and a sister, Alta Belle, died April 21, 1924, at age 13.

Memorial services were held November 25, 2009 at Barrville Mennonite Church, Reedsville, Mifflin Co., PA with burial in Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville, PA.

Gochenauer, Anna Elizabeth Sollenberger, 95, of Chambersburg, PA died Friday, November 13, 2009.

The widow of Ralph Duke Gochenauer, she is survived by children, Ida Mae Strite of Mississippi and Miriam E. Smith of Shippensburg; and four brothers, Ray H. Gochenauer of Tennessee, Glen R. Gochenauer of Greencastle, Ralph W Gochenauer, Carl R. Gochenauer and Roy B. Gochenauer, all of Chambersburg.; 24 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother; a sister; and four half-brothers.

Service will be at 2 PM Wednesday November 18, 2009 at Chambersburg Mennonite Church; visitation 1 hour prior. Burial was in Chambersburg Mennonite Cemetery. Arrangements by Geisel Funeral Home of Chambersburg, PA.

Godshall, Mildred Hendricks Derstine
, 89, of Lansdale, PA died November 17, 2009 at Hatfield, Montgomery Co., PA from Parkinsons Disease.  She was born February 3, 1920 at Sellersville, Bucks Co., PA to Irvin and Mamye (Hendricks) Derstine.  On April 11, 1936 she was married to Curtis D. Godshall, who was born June 13, 1916 and died September 16, 1990.

Surviving are five daughters: Glenda (deceased husband Elias) Landis; Mary and Keith Miller; Helen and Glen Goshow; Gerry and Robert Fix; and Joyce and Ron Telenko; 15 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.

A son-in-law, Elias (J.R.) Landis, two sisters, Martha Clemmer and Anna Brunner,  a brother, Paul Derstine and two siblings who died as infants: Ruth and James preceded her in death.

After her husband Curtis was ordained in the early 1950's she joined him in church planting for 10 years in Centereach, Long Island, NY, then in pastorates in Cumberland County, MD and Johnstown, PA before serving as pastor at the Souderton Mennonite Homes from 1985 to 1990.

Memorial services were held November 21, 2009 at Plains Mennonite Church, Hatfield, PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Godshall, Mildred H. "Millie" Derstine, 89, formerly of Lansdale, PA died November 17, 2009 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Hatfield, PA where she resided. She was born in Sellersville, PA to Irvin and Mayme (Hendricks) Derstine.

She was the wife of Curtis D. Godshall for 54 years, he died in 1990. Previous residences for the couple include Davidsville, PA, LaVale, MD and Centereach, LI, NY.

Mrs. Godshall and her husband had worked in the Market business in Philadelphia. After he became a pastor, she assisted him at various churches through the years with responsibilities, such as organizing Summer Bible School and serving many meals in her home. After his death, she continued the visitation ministry at the Souderton Mennonite Homes, where he had been chaplain.

She was a member of Plains Mennonite Church, Hatfield, PA.

Surviving are five daughters, Glenda Landis of Souderton, PA; Mary Miller and her husband, Keith, of Hatfield, PA; Helen Goshow and her husband, Glenn, of Syracuse, NY; Gerry Fix and her husband, Robert, of Hagerstown, MD, and Joyce Telenko and her husband, Ronald, of Jerome., PA; 15 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son-in-law, Elias "J.R." Landis, Jr.; two sisters, Anna Brunner and Martha Clemmer; a brother, Paul Derstine; and two siblings who died as infants, Ruth and James.

Funeral service was November 21, 2009 in Plains Mennonite Church.. Interment was in the Plains Mennonite Cemetery Hatfield, PA

Godshall, Richard M.
79, of Souderton, PA died December 1, 2009, of natural causes at Bear Mountain Hunting Camp in Sullivan Co., PA. He was born July 8, 1930 in Souderton, PA to Willard and Esther (Moyer) Godshall. He was the husband of Evelyn (Nice) Godshall, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

He was an active member of Zion Mennonite Church,  a lifetime Rotarian, a board member of Germantown Mennonite Historical Trust, a member of Bear Mountain Hunting Club since he was 18, and was instrumental in bringing the MCC Meat Canner to the Souderton, PA area.

Survived by his wife and children, Sandy Gerletz and her husband, Jerry, Dennis Godshall and his wife, Tracy, and Laurie Hanley and her husband, Brian; his grandchildren, Lucy, Jake, Anna and Jack; and his five brothers, Ray, Arden, Philip, Rodney, and Donald Godshall.

A memorial service was December 5, 2009, at Zion Mennonite Church, Souderton, PA.

Good, Elizabeth Marguerite Rhodes
, 86, of Harrisonburg, died March 30, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.  She was a resident of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.

Mrs. Good was born on Aug. 14, 1922, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late Ward A. and Mary Magdalene Hartman Rhodes.

She was a homemaker and she and her husband served for 27 years in ministry at Bartow, W.Va.  She enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Peake Mennonite Church.

On Feb. 14, 1946, she married Paul S. Good, who survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Edwin Good and wife, Esther, of Harrisonburg, Linden Good and wife, Charlene, of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, Duane Good and wife, Carolyn, of Harrisonburg, Roland Good and wife, LeAnna, of Eureka, Nev.; one daughter, Carolyn Roth and husband, Allen, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Nellie Brubaker of Bridgewater; one brother, Floyd Rhodes of Harrisonburg; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Rhodes.

Jay Rohrer and Elam Heatwole will conduct a funeral service Friday at 10 a.m. at the Bank Mennonite Church, 2493 Bank Church Road, Dayton.  Burial will follow at Weavers Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 at the McMullen Funeral Home, Harrisonburg.

Good, Elmer


ORRVILLE -- Elmer Good, 92, of Orrville, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born in Orrville on June 9, 1916, to Benjamin and May (Rohrer) Good. At the age of 2, his birth mother died. His father then married Martha (Hoover) Good of Goshen, Ind., who was his dearly loved and respected stepmother. On Jan. 16, 1943, he married Esther Good of Wadsworth. She survives.

Elmer had lived in the Orrville/Dalton area all his life, where he served as a lifetime farmer. He was a member of County Line Mennonite Church, where he served as pastor since 1946.

Surviving are seven children, Milton (Ruth) Good of Dalton, Eldon Good of the home, Ann (Wilbur) Steiner of Smithville, May (Darry) Neuenschwander of Dalton, Elmer Dean (Wanda) Good of Oconto, Wis., Norma (Wain) Neuenschwander of Orrville, Gloria (Michael) VanPelt of Columbiana; 43 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren; brother, Jason (Beulah) Good of Rittman; three sisters, Emma Ruth Weaver of Columbiana, Mary Catherine Witmer of Sparta, Tenn., Miriam (Luke) Rhodes of Ashland; and sister-in-law, Edith Good of Kansas.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Willis, Willard and Heber; two infant brothers; two sisters, Myrtle Hoover and Bertha Good; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at County Line Mennonite Church, 19199 Church Road, Dalton, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will take place at the adjoining cemetery.

Friends may call at County Line Mennonite Church Monday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m.

Good, Esther Elizabeth Rodes
, 73, a resident of 1420 Hinton Road, Dayton, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at her home. She had suffered health complications for the past 21 years.

Mrs. Good was born on May 1, 1936, in Pleasant Valley, and was the daughter of the late David M. and Naomi Koogler Rodes.

She was a homemaker and a member of Bank Mennonite Church.

On Jan. 8, 1956, she married Howard S. Good, who survives.

Good, Harvey G.
, age 88, of 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, a former resident of Intercourse, PA, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Garden Spot Village. Born in Hinkletown, he was the son of the late Henry and Lizzie (Good) Good.

He was married 51 years to the late Katie S. (Zeiset) Good. He married Hannah Hauenstein in 2003.

Harvey was a Leacock Twp. Supervisor for eight years, a former Intercourse Fire Chief, started The Plant Food Store, Intercourse, in the 1960's, The Beacon Camping Lodge, Intercourse, in the 1970's and retired from the J.E. Baker Co., York, PA, in 1986.

Harvey was a charter member of the Christian Fellowship Church, New Holland. In the early years, he served as deacon, song leader and choir director.

He was the oldest member of the Buckaneer Hunting Club, Wellsboro, and enjoyed golfing.

Surviving in addition to his wife Hannah, New Holland, is one son, Raymond L. and his wife Mary Lou (Jenkins) Good, Gordonville; two grandchildren, Dawn R., wife of Pastor Lynn Shertzer, Mechanicsburg, PA, and Curtis L., husband of Andrea (Blank) Good, Quarryville, PA, and five great grandchildren, Isaac, Lizabeth and Noah Shertzer, and Tristan and Quillan Good. Also surviving are a brother, Henry Good, and a sister Magdalena (Good) Auker.

He was preceded in death by a sister Anna Mary (Good) Weber, and two brothers, Cloyd and William Good.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 10 am at Christian Fellowship Church, 758 Spruce Road, New Holland, with Dr. Ron Gibson, Dr. Doug Bozung, and Pastors Fred Raupp, Dave horst, and Lynn Shertzer officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing will be on Monday from 6-8 pm at Garden Spot Village Chapel and on Tuesday at the Church from 9-10 am. 84, of Port Trevorton, PA died March 13, 2009, at his son's home. He was born February 13, 1925, in Lancaster Co., PA to  Milton and Barbara (Shaub) Good. He married Marcella Haldeman who preceded him on Oct. 7, 1990.

Survived by one son, Raymond Good and his wife Barbara of Port Trevorton, PA; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Melinda and Aaron Peaster, Brian and Denean Good, Randall and Judy Good, Joan and Matthew Horst, Marlene and Brian Reiff, Joyce Good, and Robert Good; as well as eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Paul Good, and Roy Good, husband of Nancy, all of Port Trevorton, PA; Earl Good and Ray Good, both of Selinsgrove, PA; three sisters, Catherine Stauffer, Ada Sweigart, wife of Clayton, and Esther Good, all of Selinsgrove, PA.

Good, Raymond M.
, 89, of St. Jacobs, Ontario died October 14, 2009 at the same place.  He was born January 17, 1920 to Jacob and Irene Good.  On June 20, 1946 he was married to Olive Snider, who was born May 20, 1919 and survives.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Gary) Sittler, and Sheri (Dennis) Brubacher, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a brother, Murray (Marlene) Good, and a sister, Carol (Murray) Shantz.

A daughter, Mary Good (in infancy), a brother, Harold Good, and a sister, Carmen Good preceded him in death.

During WWII, he participated in Alternate Service in Montreal River, Ontario helping to construct the Trans Canada highway and on Vancouver Island fighting forest fires. With his brother Murray, he continued and developed Good's Garage which was started by his father in 1920. Ray was also instrumental in helping to establish Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region.

Memorial services were held October 18, 2009 at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, St. Jacobs, Ontario, Canada with burial in St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery,  St.
Jacobs (Three Bridges), ON.

Good, Robert LeRoy,
96, Harrisonburg, VA died December 27, 2009 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He was born April 5, 1913 in Hinton, VA to Gabriel and Annie Heatwole Good. On January 17, 1991, he married Athalyn Driver Good who survives.

His first wife the former Ethel Heatwole preceded him in death on April 6, 1989.
He was an active member of Weavers Mennonite Church.

Survivied by his wife and a son, Wilson L. (Bill) Good and wife Suzanne Fuqua, Sante Fe, NM; a daughter, Karen Kuhns and husband Don, Harrisonburg, VA; one step son, Robert Driver and wife, Julie, Broadway, VA; one granddaughter, Tami Green and husband Wes, Harrisonburg, VA; four step grandchildren, Travis Kisamore and wife Bekii, Chile, South America; Lindsay Kisamore, Rusty Driver, both of Harrisonburg, VA and Shayna Driver, Broadway, VA. Mr. Good was the last surviving of eight children in his immediate family.

Funeral service was December 30, 2009 at Weavers Mennonite Church conducted by Pastor Gordon Zook.

Goossen, Edgar Leon
, 83, of Windom, MN died January 26 2009 at Sioux Falls SD. 

He was born July 19, 1925 at Mountain Lake, Cottonwood Co., MN to Jacob A. and Helen J. (Derksen) Goosen.  Jacob was born June 18, 1897 and died February 3, 1978.  Helen was born April 18, 1903 and died October 24, 1989.

On September 2, 1967 at Windom, Cottonwood, Co., MN he was married to Ione Rassler, who died in June 1985.

Surviving are children, Nancy (DuWaine) Sell; Neil (Dottie) Krause,  9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Curtis.

A brother, Eldon Ray Goosen preceded him in death.

Edgar enlisted in the Army in 1944, served in WW II until 1945, received a Purple Heart; worked for Harvestore Silos and other types of construction jobs. He enjoyed reading Western novels and watching television.  While Edgar continued to consider First Mennonite his "home church" he was not active in the life of the church.

Observation: Edgar had no biological children; the children are all
listed in his obituary as step-children, step-grandchildren, etc.

Memorial services were held January 30, 2009 at LaCanne Family Funeral Service,  Windom, MN with burial in Fort Snelling, Minneapolis, MN.

Goossen, Henry W.
, 93, of North Newton, KS died December 26, 2009 at Newton, KS from natural causes.  He was born August 11, 1916 at DeWitt, Nebraska to Andrew and Helen (Penner) Goossen.  On August 19, 1943 at First Mennonite Church, Beatrice, NE he was married to Edna Marie Ensz, who was born September 24, 1919 and survives.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon (Bob) Bartel; and LaVonne (Ron) Sawatzky; and a son, Duane (Rachel) Goossen; grandchildren: Shaun (Deb) Bartel; Sheri (Alan) Lepard; Shannon Bartel; Sheldon (Spring) Bartel; Ben Goossen; Elsa Goossen; and great-grandchildren: Sarah and Megan Bartel; Nicholas and Markus Lepard; and Haylen Bartel, and a brother, William (Marilyn) Goossen.

Henry graduated from Beatrice, NE High School and worked for his uncle in farming before going to Bethel College in North Newton and graduating, and then attended the Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Chicago.  He was ordained as a Mennonite pastor in 1944 and served churches in Burns, Hanston, McPherson, Hillsboro, Goessel and Halstead, Kansas.  He and Edna spent 1966-68 working in South Korea with Mennonite Central Committee.  In 1983, following retirement from the ministry, he joined his son for twelve years in Goossen Construction, Inc.  Henry rarely missed Sunday services and loved to be at family events.  He
gardened, traveled to many places with Edna, camped, kept a list of all the books he read and played countless games of Rook.

Memorial services were held December 30, 2009 at Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton, KS with burial in Halstead Cemetery, Halstead, KS.

, 84, of Lancaster, PA and formerly of Willow Street, PA. died May 1, 2009. She was born in Strasburg Twp. Lancaster Co., PA, to Ira and Edith Lefever Goss. Verna was a member of Strasburg Mennonite Church.

Surviving are her siblings Anna Mentzer, Ruth, wife of Robert Reese, Albert, husband of Evelyn Goss, Lloyd, husband of M. Geraldine Goss, Aldus Goss and Ida, wife of Clair Mull. Services and burial was in Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery Strasburg, PA.

Graber, Glen Danie
l, 89, of Goshen, IN died November 7, 2009, at Greencroft Healthcare. He was born in Wayland, Iowa, on July 30, 1920, to Daniel S. and Anna Marie (Widmer) Graber.

He married June Mable Straite in Taiwan, in 1948.  She preceded him in death in 1990.

Mr. Graber was a member of the Eicher Mennonite Church in Wayland, Iowa, he was also a missionary in Asia.

Survived by two sons, Daniel (Rose Waltner) Graber, Red Hill, PA, David Graber, North Bend, WA; two daughters, Kathryn (Gordon) Myers, Cleveland, Ohio, Vinnie Graber, Boone, Iowa; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilber and Max; and one sister, Bessie. There will be a memorial service at a later date in Wayland, Iowa. Burial will be in Eicher Cemetery, Wayland, Iowa, at a later date.

On June 3, 1951 in Taipei, Formosa he was married to June Mable Straite, who was born July 12, 1922 and died August 27, 1990.

Surviving are four children: Lowell Daniel Graber (Rose Waltner); Vinnie Marie Graber; Kathryn Louise Myers (Gorden Myers); and David Glen Graber, six grandchildren,  and one great-grandchild.

A brother, Wilbert John Graber, a sister, Bessie Cathrine (Graber) Seton, and a brother, Max Dean Graber preceded him in death.

Glen Graber did mission work through MCC in China in the late 1940's until forced to leave because of Communism. In 1956 he and June were ordained to ministry and commissioned for service under the Commission on Overseas Missions of the Mennonite General Conference. They later did mission work through Church World Service, US AID, Mustard Seed, and World Vision.

Memorial services were held November 20, 2009 at Eicher Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Washington Co., Iowa with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Graber, Martha Farmwald
, 92 of Plain City, OH died November 20, 2009 at the Convalarium at Indian Run, Dublin, OH surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 12, 1917 in Plain City to Jacob J. & Sarah (Miller) Farmwald. Her husband: Henry S. "Hank" Graber died 1984. She was a member of the Sharon Mennonite Church, Plain City, OH.

Survived by loving children: Yvonne (Marvin) Stutzman of Harrisonburg, VA; Bob (Gerry) Graber of Plain City, OH; Carol (Olin) Slabaugh of Chesapeake, VA; Linda (Merlin L.) Miller of Chesapeake, VA, Patricia Shoemaker (Clyde) Anderson of Plain City, OH and Terry (Lori) Graber of Plain City,OH; 19 Grandchildren and 33 Great Grandchildren; sisters: Sarah Mast and Emma Troyer both of Plain City, OH and many nieces and nephews.

She preceded in death by her husband, parents; 8 brothers and 5 sisters and a son-in-law: Tom Shoemaker.

Funeral service was November 24, 2009 at the  Sharon Mennonite Church with Pastor Bob Yoder officiating and burial was  in the Sharon Mennonite Cemetery, Plain City, OH.

Graber, Ryan Scott
, 23, of Hurley died February 12, 2009 at Hurley, Turner Co., SD in a farm accident.  

He was born April 15, 1985 at Sioux Falls, SD to Calvin Scott and Linda (Thompson) Graber.  Calvin was born August 3, 1954 and Linda was born August 6, 1955.

Surviving are his parents, and three sisters, Tracy (Brett) Petersen, Kayla Graber, and Katelyn Graber.

Memorial services were held February 17, 2009 at Salem Mennonite Church, Freeman, Turner Co., SD with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Groff, Anna Detweiler Moyer
, 84, of Souderton, PA died August 7, 2009 at the same place.  She was born November 5, 1924 at Souderton, PA to Jacob M. and Ida (Detweiler) Moyer.  On March 14, 1944 she was married to Claude Godshall Groff, who was born July 28, 1923 and died March 18, 2002.

Surviving are children, Rod Groff and wife, Francine; Gwen Groff; Sandi Hurt and husband, Ron; Lisa Weaver and husband, Dale; Bill Groff and wife, Merry; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, extended family, Lalo and Elsa Reinoso; a brother, Paul Moyer and wife, Esther; and a sister, Clara Kolb.

Two brothers, Nelson Moyer and Jacob Moyer, and a sister, Esther Bergey  preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held August 12, 2009 at Salford Mennonite Church, Harleysville, Montgomery Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Groff, Anna D. Moyer, 84, of Souderton Mennonite Homes, formerly of Harleysville, PA died August 7, 2009. She was born in Souderton, PA to Jacob M. and Ida (Detweiler) Moyer.

She was the wife of  Claude G. Groff, who died in 2002. They were married 58 years, and moved to SMH in 1997. She was a member of Salford Mennonite Church. Her activities there included Women's Fellowship, teaching Sunday School & Summer Bible School. Recently, she started a prayer shawl ministry.

She is survived by five children: Rod Groff and his wife Francine of Carlisle, PA; Gwen Groff, Sandy Hurt and her husband Ron, all of Souderton, PA; Lisa Weaver and her husband Dale of Perkiomenville, PA and Bill Groff and his wife Merry of Westcliffe, CO.; 12 grandchildren, five great grandsons; one brother, Paul Moyer and his wife Ester of Souderton, PA; one sister, Clara Kolb of Spring City, PA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers: Nelson and Jacob Moyer, and one sister, Esther Bergey.

A memorial service was August 12, 2009 at Salford Mennonite Church, Burial was at Salford Mennonite Cemetery, Harleysville, PA.

Groff, Earl B.
, 93, of Landis Homes, Lititz, PA died August 27, 2009. He was the  son of Clayton and Elsie Bucher Groff; He was married to Mary Fry Groff, Landis Homes and the late Esther S. (Groff) Groff.

He was a member of Mellinger's Mennonite Church. He worked with Eastern States Farmers Exchange, Weaver's Poultry and the Hans Herr House. Also,  Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society.

Survived by his wife Mary and three children, Mary Jane Groff, Allan G. Groff husband of Dore, PA, Barbara wife of Brooks Harding.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna and his brother Walter Groff. Funeral service was September 2, 2009, at Mellinger's Mennonite Church. Interment was in Mellinger's Mennonite cemetery, Lancaster, PA.

Groff, Esther Wenger


Esther W. Groff, 88, of Brethren Village, formerly of Manheim Twp., passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2009. She was the wife of the late Chryst W. Groff who died in Aug. 2003. Born in Bareville in 1920, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Viola Hoober Wenger.

A graduate from the former Upper Leacock High School in 1937 as well as the former State Teachers' College in Millersville in 1941, she did graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Groff taught secondary school for 29 years, the last 19 at Manheim Township. She was a member of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, and she enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, and her cat, Andrew.

Surviving are: her daughter, Suzanne Groff, Charles-ton, SC; her son, James married to Carol Groff, York, PA; three grandchildren, Caleb and Evan Groff, York, and Julia Groff of Charleston; a brother-in-law, John Groff, Brethren Village; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: a brother, Harold Wenger; and sisters, Dorothy LeFevre, Mae Herman and Arlene Herr.

The memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 14th, at 11 a.m. from the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster PA 17601. Private interment will be in the Bareville Cemetery. There will be no public viewing; however, the family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall in Village Center at Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster (Neffsville) on Friday from 4-7 p.m., and also from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of the Lancaster Church of the Brethren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lancaster Church of the Brethren "The Heifer Project." Furman Home for Funerals, Leola.

Groff, Grace E. Landis
, 93, of Lewisburg, PA formerly of Turbotville, PA died May 25, 2009 after a brief illness. She died at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, PA. She was born January 11, 1916 in Lancaster Co., PA, to Milton B. and Sue Rohrer Landis. Grace and her late husband, Hershey L. Groff, were married for 65 years until his death on February 14, 2003.

Grace and Hershey farmed in Lancaster Co., PA until they moved to the Turbotville, PA area in 1956 and continued farming there until retirement.
Grace was the oldest member of Community Mennonite Fellowship Church (formerly Beaver Run Mennonite) where she taught Bible School and Sunday School. Grace was also active in the Sewing Circle. After her children were married, she boarded school teachers for the Maranatha Christian School near Turbotville.

She is survived by two sons: Landis W. (Nancy) Groff of Orefield, PA and Glen M. (Kelly) Groff of Schnecksville, PA, both in the Allentown, PA area; two daughters: Sue Ann (Carl) Sarvis of Chambersburg, PA and Martha J. (I. Ray) Zimmerman, Turbotville, PA; 11 grandchildren, one step-grandchild; 18 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Elvin M. Landis, and two sisters, Esther M. Herr and Alma Landis.

Funeral service was May 28, 2009 at Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, Milton, PA. Burial was in Beaver Run Mennonite Cemetery, Turbotville, PA.

, 73, of Ephrata, entered into rest at Fairmount Homes Inc., West Earl Township on Thursday, October 22, 2009.

She was born in Brecknock Twp., a daughter of the late Samuel M. and Judith Ellen Good Horst. She was the wife of Paul S. Groff.

A member of the Ephrata Mennonite Church, Margaret was very involved with church life, taught Sunday School for over 30 years, was involved with the children's ministry, and participated and gave leadership to the sewing circle. She also cleaned the church from 1982 to 2009.

She previously worked 11 years for Spring Glen Farm Kitchen of Ephrata.

Margaret enjoyed embroidery, quilting, making cards, and scrapbooking. She made creative memory books for her husband and children. She enjoyed hosting many international visitors. This led to a lifelong friendship with Marlene and Daniel Martinez and their daughter, Gabriela.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Paul Eugene, husband of Pamela (Mosemann)Groff of Harrisonburg, VA, Karen Louise, wife of Eugene Beyer of Ephrata, and Brenda Joy, wife of John Hedrick of Weyers Cave, VA; 3 grandchildren, Joy and Jacob Hedrick and Daniel Groff; and her brothers, Samuel G., husband of Esther (Weaver) Horst of Lititz, and Ezra G., husband of Geraldine (Rutt) Horst of Ephrata.

A closed casket visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday evening, October 25th, and 9 to 10 A.M. on Monday at the Ephrata Mennonite Church, 510 Stevens Road, Ephrata. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, October 26, 2009 at the church with Pastor Jack Scandrett officiating.

Interment will follow in the Metzler Mennonite Cemetery, West Earl Township.

, 81, of Lyndhurst, Virginia died August 31, 2009 at Fishersville, Virginia.  She was born March 15, 1928 at Lyndhurst to Isaac E. and Emma (Wenger) Grove.

Surviving is a brother, David Grove.

Her siblings, Nannie, Katie, Mary, Bertha, Lois, Timothy, Irvin, Enos and Orie
preceded her in death.
