Raber, Mary Milster Mitchell,
88, of Sugarcreek, OH died September 6, 2010 at Walnut Creek, OH after a prolonged illness.  She was born August 29, 1922 at Cambridge, MA to Mason and Edward and Dora (Otis) Mitchell.  In 1953 at Pusan, South Korea she was married to Ernest Raber.

Surviving are children, Chris (Carolyn) Raber; Eric (An) Raber; Mark (Linda) Raber; and Philip (Myriam) Raber, 15 grandchildren, and a sister, Rachel Archer.

A son, Tim Raber, and two brothers, Armistead Raber and Edward Raber preceded her in death.

She served as a teacher and missionary in China and Korea from 1947-1959

Memorial services were held September 11, 2010 at First Mennonite Church, Sugarcreek, OH with burial in Walnut Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery, Walnut Creek, OH.

Raber, Sarah Ann Miller
, 78, of Mount Eaton, died Monday, June 21, 2010, at Wooster Community Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Holmes Co., OH on May 4, 1932, to Aaron and Mary (Kauffman) Miller.  She married Raymond A. Raber on Jan. 15, 1952. He survives.   Sarah Ann was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church near Berlin, OH.

Survived by her husband, are children, Esther (Jack) Cooper of Salt Springs, FL; Marie (Robbie) Breene of Mobile, Ala.; Cindy (David) Stefanski of Smithville, OH; Firman "Fritz" (Diane) Raber of Mount Eaton, OH; Betty (Dean) Hershberger of Dundee, OH and James "JR" (Tammy) Raber of Creston, PA; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Fannie (Emanuel) Yoder of Winchester, Tenn., Esther (Neal) Yoder of Millersburg, OH Naomi (Mose) Erb of Sugarcreek and Mae (Albert) Miller of Berlin, OH; and a brother, Dennis (Fannie) Miller of Berlin,OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Miller.

Funeral service was June 26, 2010 at Pleasant View Mennonite Church near Berlin, OH with pastors Myron Troyer and Glenn Coblentz officiating. Burial was in   Pleasant View Mennonite cemetery.

Ramer, Gloria Lucille Shank


Nov. 8, 1927 - Oct. 21, 2010

ELKHART -- Gloria Lucille Ramer, 82, died Thursday (Oct. 21, 2010) at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born in Elkhart to Lowell and Mildred (Love) Shank on Nov. 8, 1927. On Sept. 30, 1949, she married Roy Ramer. He survives.

Also surviving are daughters Tena (Steve) Baker of Toledo, Ohio, and Tammy (Mike) Funderburk of Elkhart; a son, Mark Ramer of Goshen; a sister, Sharon Miller of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Gloria was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother, a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church and a graduate of Concord High School.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, 64901 C.R. 11, Goshen, with one hour of viewing prior to the service. Pastor Wes Bontreger will officiate. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Ramer, Harvey W.
 
July 23, 1916 - Jan. 14, 2010

GOSHEN -- Harvey W. Ramer, 93, of C.R. 13, formerly of New Paris, died at 10:40 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 14, 2010) in the home of his daughter, Lauretta.

He was born July 23, 1916, in Nappanee to Daniel and Ida (Weaver) Ramer. On June 4, 1939, he married Selina B. Martin. She died Nov. 12, 2005.

Mr. Ramer is survived by three daughters, Lauretta (Clarence) Hoover of Goshen, Judith (Elam) Martin of Viola, Wis., and Charlotte (Verlin) Martin of Bristol; one daughter-in-law, Berdine Ramer of New Paris; three sons, Ivan (Rachel) Ramer of Red Lake, Ontario, Canada, Keith (Teri) Ramer of Nappanee and Charles (Kathy) Ramer of New Paris; two sisters, Martha Kulp of New Paris and Grace Shaum of Goshen; 30 grandchildren; and 75 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Merle Ramer, March 6, 1992; one grandson, Jonathon Ramer; one sister, Mabel Bauman; and one brother, Floyd Ramer.

Mr. Ramer was a farmer and a member of Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. A family prayer service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church. The home ministry will officiate. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Frame Cemetery.

Ramer, Roy L.


ELKHART -- Roy L. Ramer, 87, Elkhart, died at 6:10 p.m. Friday (Dec. 31, 2010) at his residence.

He was born March 1, 1923, to John and Goldie (Wenger) Ramer in Elkhart County. On Sept. 30, 1949, he married Gloria Lucille (Shank) Ramer. She died Oct. 21, 2010.

Surviving are two daughters, Tena (Steve) Baker of Toledo, Ohio, and Tammy (Mike) Funderburk of Elkhart; one son, Mark Ramer of Goshen; one sister, Florence (Pete) Yoder of Middlebury; one brother, Carl Ramer of Alberta, Canada; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a sister, Nila Jean Flora, and a brother, Lewis Ramer.

He worked as a carpenter for 45 years at Willie's Oakbrook Homes, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service, Thursday at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. Pastor Wes Bontreger will officiate.

Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Elkhart County Hospice.

Ramer, Roy Lamar, 87, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died December 31, 2010 at the same place.  He was born March 1, 1923 in Elkhart Co., IN to John & Goldie (Wenger) Ramer.  On September 30, 1949 in Elkhart, Elkhart Co., IN he was married to Gloria Shank, who died October 21, 2010.

Surviving are children, Mark Ramer; Tena Stutzman; and Tammy Funderburk, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held January 6, 2011 at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Ramer, Valeta Mae Wenger

 
 NAPPANEE -- Valeta Mae Ramer, 90, died Saturday [June 12, 2010] at Elkhart General Hospital at 2:36 a.m.

She was born Sept. 15, 1919, in Goshen to Samuel W. and Clara (Martin) Wenger. She married Monroe Ramer on Dec. 23, 1945.

He survives along with two daughters, Jane (Phil) Gingerich, Milford, and Sharon Goss, Sullivan, Ill.; a son, Steven (Luanne) Ramer of Nappanee; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a sister, Mary L. Meyer; a brother, Burton Wenger; and a granddaughter, Bonnie Ramer.

Valeta was a registered nurse. She had worked at Elkhart and Goshen general hospitals, did private duty nursing and was a member of Salem Mennonite Church.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. The service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Mennonite Church, New Paris, with the home ministry officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

Ranck, Robert H
., 89, of Lancaster, PA died June 17, 2010 at Lititz, PA from old age and cancer.  

He was born July 22, 1920 at Rohrerstown, PA to David Herr and Susan Kreider (Hostetter) Ranck.  David was born March 16, 1895 and died August 30, 1968.  Susan was born August 5, 1894 and died November 28, 1984.

On June 24, 1972 at Lancaster, PA he was married to Alta M. Martin, who was born April 19, 1929 and survives.

Surviving are children, John and Barbara Ranck, Jim and Judy Ranck, Janet and Wilmer Martin, Jean and Howard Cann, Joe and Ann Ranck, Doug and Joanne Ranck Dirks, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Melvin H. Ranck.

Predeceased by first wife, Mildred (Denlinger) Ranck in 1947, his second wife Pauline (Peifer) Ranck in 1970, and a sister, Mae Ranck.

Robert was founder of Robert H. Ranck, Inc. (Plumbing, Heating business for 57 years), volunteered for MDS, Habitat for Humanity, Ten Thousand Villages,
Meals on Wheels, and Landis Homes.

Memorial services were held June 21, 2010 at Rohrerstown Mennonite Church, Rohrerstown, Lancaster Co., PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Randolph, Brenda Kay Drake
, 61, of Elkhart, IN died October 8, 2010 at the same place after a 15-year illness.  She was born January 9, 1949 at San Angelo, Tom Green Co., TX to Wilbur and Pauline (Taulbee) Drake.  On June 17, 1976 at Eddyville, Lyon Co., KY she was married to Donnie Randolph, who was born December 28, 1945 and survives.

Surviving are children, Sandra (David) Lehman, Goshen; Howard Randolph, Elkhart; James (Daphene) Huser, Elkhart; Ron Huser, Elkhart; and Bill (Stephanie) Huser, Elkhart; twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

Memorial services were held October 12, 2010 at Marion Mennonite Church, Shipshewana, LaGrange Co., IN with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Penn Twp., St. Joseph Co., IN.

Redcay, Elsie M. Fenninger
, 94, of Quarryville, PA, died November 12, 2010, at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was born in Leacock Twp., Lancaster Co., PA to Edward and Lena Denlinger Fenninger. She was the wife of the late Harold M. Redcay who died in 1993.   

She was a member of New Providence Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday School, was a pianist, and was active with Sewing Circle including the Golden Agers.   Elsie also volunteered at Black Rock Retreat and Meals on Wheels.

Survived by 2 sons, Kenneth, husband of Grace Thomas Redcay of Quarryville,PA; Harold, Jr. husband of Martha Frey Redcay of Mountville, PA; daughter Jean, wife of James Horning of Lititz, PA. 11 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren.   

She was predeceased by her husband Harold and sons; Donald and Glenn Redcay, a great grandson, Kevin Redcay, 2 brothers; Earl and Jere Fenninger and her sister Elizabeth Hostetter.

Funeral Service was November 15, 2010 at New Providence Mennonite Church, with Pastor Brent Musser and Pastor David Weaver officiating.   The burial was in New Providence Mennonite Cemetery New Providence, PA.

Redcay, Grace E. Brooks
, 90, of Lancaster, Lancaster, PA died September 15, 2010 at the same place.  She was born October 11, 1919 to Elmer and Mary (Miller) Brooks and she was married to Elmer Redcay, who is deceased.

Surviving are children, Robert Redcay, Jacqueline married to David Evers, and Brenda married to John Dalziel, 4 grandchildren, and a brother, Robert Brooks.

A sister, Ruth Duing preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held September 21, 2010 at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, Leola, PA  with burial in Eby Cemetery, Leola, PA.

Grace E. Redcay

Grace E. Redcay, 90, of Lancaster, died on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Amos and Mary (Miller) Brooks, and was the wife of the late Elmer Redcay who died in 1966.

Mrs. Redcay worked as a cook for Leola Family Restaurant. She attended the Forest Hills Mennonite Church. She enjoyed her monthly In For Fun sewing group; her high school social circle; the church's sewing circle; needlework, knitting and crochet.

She is survived by: two daughters, Jacqueline married to David Evers of Landenberg, Brenda married to John Dalziel of Lancaster; a son, Robert Redcay of Lancaster; four grandchildren, David (Janine) Evers Jr., Timothy Evers, Jonathan Dalziel, Brittany Dalziel; a brother, Robert Brooks of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Duing.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at 2:00 PM from the Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola, PA 17540. Friends may call at the church from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will take place in the Eby Cemetery.

Reed, Anna B. Weaver
, 96, of Ephrata, PA went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Fairmount Homes. Anna, the daughter of the late William H. and Lydia Z. Good Weaver, was born near Churchtown, PA on January 22, 1914. On June 5, 1950, she married George M. Reed, who preceded her in death on April 24, 1988.

Anna was a member of Blue Ball Mennonite Church. She was a dedicated Christian wife, mother and homemaker. She was a great encouragement and help to her family and much appreciated by them, having become their stepmother at young ages after the death of their biological mother. She was also a dedicated and diligent supporter of her husband in his church leadership duties. She was dedicated to her Weaver family, having written a book about the Weaver family history.

Anna is survived by six stepchildren: Harold E. Reed (Barbara), Lititz, PA; Dorcas M. Danner (James), Hanover, PA; John E. Reed (Carolyn), Wooster, OH; Paul E. Reed (Ethel), Dayton, VA; Ruth H. Reed of Northampton, PA; and E. Irene Zimmerman (Jay), Denver, PA.

She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Anna Mary Reed.

She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Anna was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Weaver, Barbara Gehman, and Mabel Weaver; and brothers, Ivan, Benjamin, Elmer, and Paul E. Weaver. She is survived by nieces and nephews of her Weaver family.

The family will receive friends at the Fairmount Homes Wheat Ridge Chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 6 - 8 PM. The funeral service will be conducted at Blue Ball Mennonite Church, Blue Ball, PA at 10:30 AM on Thursday, Nov. 4, by the ministry of the Blue Ball congregation. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Eckenroth Funeral Home, Terre Hill, is in charge of arrangements.

Reed, Lawrence 'Larry' D.
age 51, of Canton, passed away suddenly Tuesday March 2, 2010. He was born in Canton on March 2, 1959 and graduated from GlenOak High School. Larry was a driver for W. L. Logan Trucking Co. Prior employment includes Sugardale, Republic Steel and the Press of Ohio. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.

Preceded in death by his father, Lawrence J. Reed and sister, Patricia Ann Reed.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sharon; daughters, Heather (Joe) McCoy of Texas and Julie (Jim) Martin of Homeworth; the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Daniel and Gavin McCoy and Elizabeth and Elaina Martin; mother, Jean Reed of Canton; sisters, Peggy (Kevin) Grell of Canton, Sandi (Dave) Phillips of Georgia; mother-in-law, Sylvia Erb of Hartville; other relatives and many good friends.

Calling hours are Saturday 4-8 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home 1517 Market Ave., N in Canton. Regier, Eugene
, 77, of Turpin, Oklahoma died May 24, 2010 at the same place from cancer.  He was born February 20, 1933 at Turpin, Oklahoma to Henry B. and Lena (Nachtigal) Regier.  On August 12, 1953 he was married to Florence Dick, who survives.

Surviving are children, Bob Regier and wife Lynette; Alan Regier and wife Jean; and Kerry Regier and wife Stacey, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, a brother, Arnold Regier, Liberal, Kansas; and a sister, Tillie Schmidt, Marion, Kansas.

Two brothers, Dave Regier, and Henry Regier, and three sisters, Anna Koehn, Agnes Buller, and Esther Epp preceded him in death.

Eugene was a member of Turpin Mennonite Church, served several years on the Turpin School Board, and served as an agent for the Mennonite Mutual Property Aid for many years.

Memorial services were held May 28, 2010 at Turpin Mennonite Church, Turpin, Oklahoma with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Reiff, Rylinn Zimmerman


MIFFLINBURG - Rylinn Zimmerman Reiff, son of Aaron Lynn and Janice Marie (Zimmerman) Reiff, of 288 Dorman Lane, entered into the arms of Jesus at the time of his birth at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 at the home of his parents, in Lewis Township.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Paul Z. and Louise M. Reiff, of Mifflinburg; maternal grandparents, Ira R. and Arlene M. Zimmerman, of Millmont; paternal great-grandmother, Laura Z. Reiff, of Millmont; paternal great grandparents, Levi N. and Lydia M. Martin, of Mifflinburg; maternal great-grandparents, Daniel M. and Alice H. Burkholder, of Mifflinburg; maternal great-grandparents, Phares L. and Ada B. Zimmerman, of Millmont; and maternal great great-grandmother, Lizzie W. Horst, of Ephrata.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Zimmerman; and by his paternal great-grandfather, Aaron E. Reiff.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Mountain View Old Order Mennonite Cemetery, 274 Kaiser Run Road, Millmont, with Bishop Levi N. Martin and Phares L. Zimmerman, great-grandfathers of Rylinn, officiating. The family is being served by the Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg.

In Loving Memory Of Elva Reil

Elva Reil, was born on April 18, 1917 at Alda, Nebraska to William and Sarah (Stutzman) Riley, the third of twelve children and went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Crestview Care Center in Milford, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 9 months and 22 days surrounded by her family.

She accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized in her youth at East Fairview Mennonite Church. She attended country school in Seward County and was later united in marriage to Wesley Reil on August 19, 1936 at Shenandoah, Iowa and to this union seven daughters and one son, Doris, Nancy, Carol, Judy, Connie, Nona, Vickie and Wes were born. Together they made their home in Crete where she was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. They moved to Pleasant Dale in 1964. Elva was a professional cake baker and she baked many birthday and wedding cakes until 1982. In her spare time, she loved playing rook and dominoes, quilting and crocheting for her family and at the age of 90 took up painting. She made a special picture for each one of her children and grandchildren. Elva was a faithful member of the Milford Mennonite Church. She had a deep concern for the Spiritual welfare of her family. Elva will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Milford Mennonite Church with Pastors Tim Springer and Audron Siebert officiating. Interment is in the Milford Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford, and from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Viewing also Saturday 1 hour prior at church. Memorials have been established and are directed in care of the family. Reimer, Edith Mae Kaufman
, 89, of Goshen, IN formerly of Middlebury, IN died March 30, 2010 at The Maples at Waterford Crossing Goshen, IN. She was born April 18, 1920 in Middlebury to Milton and Effie (Hostetler) Kaufman. On July 15, 1951 in Kaiserslautern, Germany she married Peter Reimer.

She was a member of the Forks Mennonite Church where she had been active as a Sunday School teacher and had taught Bible School. She also taught Bible studies outside of the church in the community.   

Survivors include her husband, Peter Reimer, two daughters, Wanda Joy Lepillez of Colorado Springs, CO, Ellen Dawn (Jim Curtsinger)) Reimer of Grand Junction, CO; a son, Raymond Glen Reimer of Middlebury, IN;  two foster daughters, Adele Reimer of Goshen, IN, and Donna Charles of Ft. Myers, FL;  five grandchildren, nine foster grandchildren, three foster great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Emma Yoder of Milo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Orvin, Vernon and Leroy Kaufman, and a son-in-law Jean-Marc Lepillez.

Friends and family gathered at the Forks Mennonite Church on April 1, 2010 at 2:00 PM to go in procession to the graveside service at Bontrager Cemetery, Middlebury. A memorial service followed at 4:00 PM on at Forks Mennonite Church.  Services were conducted by Rev. Eldon Stoltzfus.

Rheinheimer, Floyd A.
, 85, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died June 2, 2010 at the same place.  

He was born May 31 1925 at Middlebury, IN to Clayton and Maude (Miller) Rheinheimer.  Clayton was born April 10, 1895 and died November 13, 1971.  Maude was born September 24, 1899 and died January 8, 1987.

On December 24, 1949 at Middlebury, IN he was married to Katie Mae Miller, who was born May 28, 1931 and died April 20, 1995.

Surviving are children, Dennis (Terry) Rheinheimer, Floyd L. (Cindy) Rheinheimer, Shirley (Dale) Riegsecker, Linda (Mike) Young, Ron (Kristan) Rheinheimer, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a sister, Esther (Floyd) Hoover, and two brothers, Ivan Rheinheimer, and Ernest Rheinheimer.

Two sisters, Pauline Schrock, and Lois Blosser, three brothers, Alfert Rheinheimer, Maynard Rheinheimer, and John Rheinheimer, and a granddaughter, Victoria Rheinheimer preceded him in death.

Floyd worked as a custodian and bus driver for the Middlebury Schools until 1968, and later as a respiratory therapist, retiring from Goshen General Hospital.  He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of First Mennonite Church, Middlebury.  

Memorial services were held June 5, 2010 at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury, IN with burial in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury, IN.

Rheinheimer, Marjorie O. Miller

Oct. 22, 1918-July 3, 2010

TOPEKA - Marjorie O. Rheinheimer, 91, died Saturday at 4:55 p.m. at the Life Care Center in LaGrange. She was born Oct. 22, 1918, in LaGrange to Homer J. and Lizzie (Troyer) Miller.  She married Timothy Rheinheimer on Oct. 22, 1938. He died March 6, 1993.

Marjorie was a dedicated homemaker and had worked at the Milky Way restaurant in Topeka for several years and was very well known for her delicious homemade pies.  She was also a member of Maple Grove Church in Topeka. She was a lifetime area resident.

She is survived by 11 children: Velda (Joe) Ryder, Topeka; Barbara (Alan) Frain, LaGrange; Margaret (Frank) Hall, Wolcottville; Vivian (James) Wiley, South Bend; Delmer (Elizabeth) Rheinheimer, LaGrange; Duane (Heidi) Rheinheimer, LaGrange; Donald (Jan) Rheinheimer, Ecuador; Douglas (Jeanie) Rheinheimer, Wolcottville; Michael (Lisa) Rheinheimer, Warsaw; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Miller, Goshen; and Barbara (Norman) Hostetler, Topeka.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two children, Vonda Fought and Infant Delores Rheinheimer; an infant granddaughter, Amy Yoder; a great-granddaughter, Danielle Frain; her parents; and a brother, Calvin Miller.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Tuesday at Maple Grove Church, 806 S. Main St., Topeka, with the Pastor Barry St. Clair officiating.  Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Maple Grove Church, Topeka.  Yeager Funeral Home, Ligonier, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rhodes, Edwin Rohrer
, 84, of Dayton, died July 16, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Rhodes was born on Feb. 14, 1926, in Rockingham County, and was a son of the late Samuel L. and Ella A. Rohrer Rhodes.

Mr. Rhodes was a carpenter, farmer and member of the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church.

On March 12, 1952, he married the former Irene Amanda Good, who preceded him in death in 1979.

He is survived by three sons, Dennis and wife, Carol, of Harrisonburg, George and wife, Regina, of Mount Crawford, and Wayne and wife, Kathy, of Luray; and two daughters, Carol Showalter and husband, Everette, of Bridgewater, and Lois Reesor and husband, Dale, of Markham, Ontario.  He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Anna Ruth Showalter of Dayton, Roy Rhodes of Dayton, Marvin Rhodes of Scottsville, Ky., Lena Whitmer of Clover Hill, Betty Horst of Dayton, Joseph Rhodes of Montezuma, Homer Rhodes of Dayton, Edna Martin of Dayton, and Charles Rhodes of Dayton.  

Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by two siblings, Wilda Beery and Eva Burkholder.

Ministers of the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church will conduct the funeral service Monday, July 19, 2010, at 10 a.m. The body will be at Carol and Everette Showalter's home at 1293 Dinkel Ave., Bridgewater, from noon until 9 p.m. Saturday, where friends may call.  On Sunday, the body will be moved to Betty and Mark Horst's home at 5544 Swope Road, Dayton, where friends and neighbors may visit after 4 p.m.  McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg is in charge of arrangements.

Rife, Dr. Charles J.
, 96, formerly of Lemoyne, PA, died September 25, 2010 at his family's home in Mechanicsburg, PA. He was born March 14, 1914.

Dr. Rife graduated from Lemoyne High School. He continued on to further his collegiate studies and graduated from Lehigh Valley University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Harvard University.   Dr. Rife attended the Reformed Mennonite Church in Middlesex, PA. He served in the military, was formerly employed by General Electric (GE), and subsequently practiced ophthalmology in Camp Hill, PA for 33 years. He was a member of the medical staff of Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, and Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA.

Survived by four great nephews, a great niece, and several cousins.

Memorial services was September 27, 2010 at the Middlesex Reformed Mennonite Church, Carlisle, PA with his minister Glenn M. Gross officiating. Burial was in the convenience of the family in Enola Cemetery, Enola, PA.

Ringler, Martha W. Martin Brubaker
, 88, of East Earl Township, Lancaster County, died October 15, 2010, in the home of her son, John M. Brubaker, Maxatawny Township, Berks County. She was the wife of Samuel K. Ringler whom she married March 5, 1998. Her first husband, Benjamin H. Brubaker died June 22, 1991. Born September 30, 1922 in Caernarvon Township, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Henry N. and Mary W. (Weaver) Martin. She was a member of the Groffdale Conference of Mennonites and attended the Spring Grove Mennonite Church, Lancaster County.

Services: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. from her son, John M. Brubaker's residence, 721 Siegfriedale Road, Maxatawny Township, with services continuing at Center Mennonite Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Center Mennonite Church Cemetery, Kutztown. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in her son John's residence. Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., Kutztown, is in charge of arrangements.

, 50, Harrisonburg, Rockingham Co., VA died August 21, 2010 at the same place.  He was born October 27, 1959 in Rockingham Co., VA to Clayton and Elsie (Witmer) Ritter.  On June 24, 2006 he was married to Deborah L. Ritter, who survives.

Surviving are a sister, Brenda & Willard Rexrode, a brother, Clayton Eugene & Annette Ritter, and a sister, Sandra & Steven Lucas.

, 89, of Harrisonburg, Rockingham Co., VA died November 30, 2010 at the same place.  She was born May 1, 1921 at Belleville, PA to Samuel M. and Ruth (Byler) Yoder.  On June 18, 1950 she was married to Roy C. Roberts, who was born October 2, 1912 and died March 27, 2009.

Surviving are two daughters, Sarah Holmes/Don, and Rebecca Scott-Mitchell/Mark,
4 grandchildren, a sister, Nancy Smith/Kent, and a brother, Warren Yoder.

A son, Benjamin and two brothers, Samuel Yoder, and Richard Yoder preceded her in death.

Memorial services will be held April 2, 2011 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Harrisonburg, VA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

, 80, of Manheim, PA died January 31, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy, PA. He was born in Lancaster, PA to Clayton G. and B. Verna Kendig Rohrer. He was the husband of Kathryn "Kitty" Huber Rohrer and they celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on December 8, 2009.

He was a member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church.

Survived by his wife and four children, Arlene H. wife of J. Robert Zimmerman, James H. husband of Sue Anne Elliott Rohrer, Carl H. husband of Roberta J. Groff Rohrer all of Manheim, PA; Kathy H. wife of Kenneth R. Leaman of Lancaster, PA; nine grand children, Briana S. wife of Nathaniel L. Baum, Brittany A., J. , 95, of Hesston, Harvey Co., Kansas died June 8, 2010 at the same place.  She was born January 5, 1915 at Pigeon, Michigan to Moses S. and Katherine (Eimen) Ropp.

Her brother and sisters, Cleora Ropp Spicher; Blanche Ropp Miller; Alta Ropp Erb; Rozetta Ropp Miller; and Omar Ropp preceded her in death.

She was employed by Hesston College for 42 years--2 years as matron and 40 years in accounting in the business office.

Memorial services were held June 12, 2010 at Schowalter Villa Chapel, Hesston, KS with burial in Eastlawn Cemetery, Hesston.

Mattie Marie (Miller) Ropp, 78, formerly of Bremen, Ind., died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Elson Ropp where she lived following a period of declining health.

She was married to Uriah M. Schwartz who preceded her in death. She married Eldon G. Ropp in January 1992. He survives.

Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Hazelton.

Roth, Velma Mae Short
, 88, of Archbold, Fulton Co., OH died June 26, 2010 at the same place from natural causes.  She was born May 31, 1922 at Archbold to Adam H. and Edith (Roth) Short.  In May 1947 at Archbold she was married to Amos Roth, who died in May 1990.

Surviving is a brother, Marlin (Velda) Roth.

A daughter, Elaine Roth and two brothers, Richard Roth and Russell Roth preceded her in death.

Velma enjoyed quilting, cooking, traveling, and camping.  She worked at the Doughbox Bakery after retiring from LaChoy.  

Memorial services were held July 1, 2010 at Central Mennonite Church, Archbold, OH with burial in Pettisville Cemetery, Pettisville, Fulton Co., OH.

, 100, of Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA died December 20, 2010 at the same place.  She was born October 3, 1910 at Harleysville, Montgomery Co., PA to Henry M. and Mary Grater (Landes) Ruth.

Three brothers, Paul Ruth, Alpheus Ruth, and Henry Ruth, and two sisters, Bessie Rittenhouse, and Eva Kratz preceded her in death.

, 82 of Hilltown Twp., Bucks Co., PA died March 18, 2010 at Quakertown Center. Born in Vernfield, PA to William S. and Sallie ( Koffel) Godshall.

Ruth was married to the late Clarence F. Ruth. She attended the Line Lexington Mennonite Church.

Survived by a daughter, Jennie; two sons, Abe and Jake; a sister, Naomi Halteman; and a sister-in-law, Marion Godshall.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin, William and Elmer Godshall; and three sisters, Mary Hackman, Iva Hackman and Sadie Landis.

Funeral service was March 20, 2010 at Anders Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, Souderton, PA.

Rutt, Mary Alta Stauffer
, 86, of Ephrata, PA died December 16, 2010 at Fairmount Homes Inc. She was born in Lancaster Co., PA to Norman and Mary (Habecker) Stauffer she was the wife of the late Frank B. Rutt. She was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church and a former member of Stauffer Mennonite Church in Hershey, PA.

Survived by her son: Kenneth S., husband of Karen S. (Frank) Rutt of Souderton, PA; three daughters: Lauretta Mae, wife of Gerald W. Eshleman of Hephzibah, GA; Marianne, wife of Ronald L. Zimmerman of Ephrata, PA; and Norma Jean Rutt of Ephrata, PA; 13 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.   

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Henry.  Funeral service was December 20, 2010, at the Groffdale Mennonite Brick Church, Leola, PA with ministers Glen Sell, Tom Eshleman and Frank Zeager officiating. Interment was in the Bosslers Mennonite Cemetery, Elizabethtown, PA.

Rutt, Nevin Hursh
, 52, of Bernville, died unexpectedly in a farm accident on January 14, 2010. He was a loving husband of Mary Ann Martin Rutt with whom he celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on June of 2009. He was born in Ephrata, Lancaster County, a son of Ervin and Mary Hursh Rutt, Manheim.

He was a self-employed farmer, raising produce and selling it along Route 183 at the Bernville Fire Co. He was a member of the Martin's Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference, Womelsdorf.

He was a loving father of three daughters: Trisha wife of Marlin Sensenig, Jones-town; Kendra wife of Keith Zimmerman, Denver; Sherina wife of Brian Sensenig, Reamstown; three sons: Ryan husband of Bethany Martin Rutt, Stevens; Austin Rutt and Jerlin Rutt, both at home. He will be missed by his nine grandchildren. He is also survived by five brothers: Delmar husband of Nancy Martin Rutt, NY; Jay Ervin husband of Marian Martin Rutt, Womelsdorf; Lynford husband of Erma High Rutt, Newmanstown; Joel husband of Irene Fox Rutt, Manheim; Arlin husband of Jody Martin Rutt, Grenada; three sisters: Vanita wife of Michael Martin, Bernville; LuAnne wife of Harold Fox, Newmanstown; Rhoda wife of Mark Wenger, Mifflinburg.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:30 AM in the Martin's Mennonite Church, Church Road, Womelsdorf. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4:00 PM and 6 to 8:00 PM at the Fairview Mennonite Reception Center, Jackson Road, Lebanon, PA. Please Omit Flowers.
