GOSHEN - Adrian Lynn Yoder, infant son of Michael and Michelle (Miller) Yoder of Goshen, was stillborn at 12:22 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
Survivors in addition to his parents are grandparents Sam and Marilyn Miller of Goshen and Gerald and Mary Yoder of Shipshewana, and great-grandparents Barbara Miller of LaGrange and Eli and Mabel Miller of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Olen Miller.
The family held a private graveside service Friday, April 8, in Miller Cemetery, Goshen. Services were conducted by Bishop Nelson Gingerich.

He was born Aug. 4, 1927, in Elkhart County, to Allen and Sophie (Ummel) Yoder Sr.
He attended Bluffton College, Bluffton, Ohio.
On May 6, 1951, he married Marie J. Haney at Goshen City Church of the Brethren.
She survives, along with four children, Mike (Rhonda) Yoder of Middlebury, Kent Allen (Gaye) Yoder of Middlebury, Dru (Richard) Gentle of Goshen and Scott (Sarah) Yoder of Middlebury; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dale Yoder of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.
A very active lifetime area resident, Mr. Yoder farmed from 1951 to 1966 and was honored in 1958 as Elkhart County Farmer of the Year. After two years at St. Joseph Valley Bank, Mr. Yoder in 1969 joined a new enterprise, Jayco, where he served as president from 1985 to 1993. A founder of Deutsch K?se Haus, he also served as president there from 1975 to 2002.
Mr. Yoder enjoyed vocal and instrumental music and lent his skills as a tenor to many groups, including the church choir, Menno Singers and Camarata Singers.
An active volunteer, Mr. Yoder served on many boards of directors, including Faith Mission, Goldenrod, Goshen Hospital and Healthcare Foundation, Elkhart County Extension, Middlebury Community Schools, National Recreational Vehicle Industry Association and Bluffton College/?University.
He grew up in the Silver Street Mennonite Church, which he joined at a young age. He filled many leadership roles there, including teaching Sunday school and leading the effort to move from the country to town when the church became Silverwood Mennonite. He was devoted to his family and the Mennonite church.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, and from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Silverwood Mennonite Church, 1712 W. Clinton St., Goshen, where a memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24. A private family burial will take place in Cornell Cemetery, Middlebury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Silverwood Mennonite Church, Bluffton University or Faith Mission, Elkhart.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - E. Jean Yoder, 95, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Elkhart, passed away Friday, Sept. 9.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and son Eric.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Yoder; brother Weir (Rosa) Stone; grandchildren Brandon (Jennifer) Yoder, Josh (Lindsey) Yoder, Olga (Stearling) Reiff and Yanna (Blessen) Joseph; and seven great-grandchildren.
Jean resided in Elkhart, raising her children and teaching at Pierre Moran Junior High.
After retirement she moved to Florida and Michigan. She was a founding member of the Southside Fellowship, Chapel of the Sermon on the Mount, on the campus of the Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary where a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at 3003 Benham Ave., Elkhart.

NAPPANEE — Edna L. Yoder, 62, of Nappanee, died peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family Sunday, Aug. 14.
Edna was born Oct. 5, 1953, in Elkhart, to Roy E.G. and Katie N. (Hershberger) Miller. On May 31, 1973, she married Leland R. Yoder, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Rosella (LaVern) Bontreger of Chouteau, Okla., Ada Arlene (LaVern Allen) Chupp and Alma Marie (Noah L aVon) Miller, both of Nappanee; sons Steven Lee (Brenda Jean) Yoder of Bremen and Carl Devon (Chrystal) Yoder of Nappanee; 20 grandchildren; sisters Mary Yoder of Michigan, Wilma (Albert) Coblentz of Ohio and Alma (Marvin) Bontrager and Barbara (Wayne) Miller, both of Nappanee; and brothers Ezra Miller of Nappanee and Herbert (Mary) Miller of Wakarusa.
Calling will be after 2 p.m. Monday and all day Tuesday at the family home. The funeral will be at 9:30 Wednesday at Devon Hochstetler’s residence, 70725 CR 1.

GOSHEN - Elizabeth Yoder, 94, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, at IU Health Goshen Hospital where she had been five days.
She was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Dodge City, Kan., to Enos and Lydia (Miller) Bontrager.
On June 13, 1942, she married Trennis Yoder in Middlebury. He died Nov. 14, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan (Lloyd) Miller of Goshen and Beth (Beau) Washington of Palisade, Colo.; two sons, Don (Em) Yoder of Harrisonburg, Va., and Jim (Mary Kay) Yoder of Cashiers, N. C.; four grandchildren, Derek Yoder, Dee Dee Yoder, Ryan Miller and Dustin George-Miller; five great-grandchildren, Brynn Yoder, Norah and Levi George-Miller and Greta and Lucas Miller; two sisters, Fannie Miller and Rosa (Weir) Stone, both of Elkhart; a brother, Leroy (Joyce) Bontrager of Goshen; and a sister-in-law, Donna Bontrager.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Wayne Bontrager in 2015.
A Goshen resident since 1986, Mrs. Yoder was chief financial officer and co-owner with her husband of T. Yoder Inc. for 44 years in Fort Wayne.
She was a member of College Mennonite Church where she volunteered in the church office. Elizabeth shared baked goods with others and was known for her handwritten notes. She stayed in touch with her family and was active on social media keeping the family connected. She was well travelled and her world remained big through Google. She loved the view from her patio and found beauty in each day and season. She was a longtime season ticket holder for the Performing Arts Series at Goshen College.
Friends may call from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, in the church sanctuary.

She was born March 16, 1923, in New Wilmington, Pa., to Elmer and Lorena (Miller) Detwiler.
On Oct. 1, 1949, she married Gordon Yoder in New Wilmington.
He survives along with a daughter, Diane (Robert) Hershberger of Elkhart; two sons, Sanford (Julie) Yoder of Elkhart and Tom (Margaret Delaney) Yoder of Grand Junction, Colo.; six grandchildren, Jason (Heather Berg) Hershberger of Bristol, Jaime and Jennifer Hershberger, both of Indianapolis, Jordan Hershberger of Missoula, Mont. and Katy (Ben) Holdread and Kelly Yoder, both of Elkhart; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Holdread; two sisters, Bernice Schroeder and Jean (Cal) Graber, both of Goshen; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Joyce Detwiler of Goshen and Lynda Detwiler of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Yoder in 1971, and four brothers, John, Dale, Delbert and Carl Detwiler.
The most important thing in Esther’s life was the love of God and family. She was a very active member of College Mennonite Church.
Esther graduated from Goshen College and taught in the Elkhart Community Schools for 20 years.
She enjoyed canning, gardening, baking pies, music and bowling.
Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
Friends may call at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 in the Gathering room at College Mennonite Church, with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. Pastor Pamela Yoder will officiate.

Yoder, Esther A. Detwiler, 93, of Elkhart, Elkhart Co., IN died September 18, 2016 at the same place. She was born March 16, 1923 at New Wilmington, PA to Elmer and Lorena (Miller) Detwiler. On October 1, 1949 at New Wilmington she was married to Gordon R. Yoder, who was born September 29, 1925 and survives.

GOSHEN - Esther Louise (Eash) Yoder, 89, died Tuesday, March 1, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
She was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Hollsopple, Pa., the fifth daughter of Sem K. and Suie (Blough) Eash.
On April 14, 1949, she married Henry Edward Yoder in Hollsopple and enjoyed 55 years together until his death June 16, 2004.
To this marriage were born three children; Rachel (Duane) Yoder of Fort Wayne, Kathleen (Jim) Holsopple of New Paris and Roger (Rhonda) Yoder of Goshen; nine grandchildren, Christina (Justin) Weber, Tim, Andrew (Glenda) and Kev Yoder, Rebekah (Andrew) Tucker, Darin (Darcy) and Eric (Liz) Holsopple, Matt (Chelsey) and Amanda Yoder; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her four sisters Ruth Yoder, Elsie Sutter, Mable Lehman and Florence Blough; and a son-in-law, Jim Holsopple.
At age 11 Esther was received by water baptism at Thomas Mennonite Church, Hollsopple, Pa., where she remained a member until her marriage and move to Grantsville, Md., where both she and Henry became members and served in Oak Grove Mennonite Church for 45 years. She became a member at East Goshen Mennonite Church following her move to Goshen in 1995.
Mrs. Yoder was a teacher and principal for 35 years, most of which were at Yoder School, a public school in Garrett County, Md. In addition to her employment, she served on Mennonite Board of Education, was president of the Allegheny Conference WMSC, Penn Alps Board of Directors, Western Maryland Health Care Corp., and other church and community services.
After retirement, Esther and Henry served in voluntary service for a year in Crooked River Ranch, Ore. Following this she managed Penn Alps Restaurant and Craft Shop and Spruce Forest Artisan Village in Grantsville, Md. for a number of years. She and her husband enjoyed travel at home and abroad, even after their move to Greencroft Retirement Village. In her later years, quilting for church school benefit auctions and making comforters for Mennonite Central Committee became favorite pastimes.
Friends will be received Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Saturday funeral service at East Goshen Mennonite Church. Pastor Merle Hostetler will officiate.
According to Esther's wishes, cremation and burial will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to Mennonite Central Committee or Greencroft Foundation.

TOPEKA - Felty W. Yoder, 86, of Topeka, died Wednesday, July 20.
He was born Aug. 21, 1929, to William D. and Susie (Yoder) Yoder.
He married Ruby Mae Lehman. She survives.
Survivors also are daughters Carolyn (Orla W.) Yoder, Kathy (Elmer) Yoder and Rosemary (Freeman L.) Hochstetler; son Merle (Dorothy) Yoder; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; four brothers, William (Lora), Albert (Rosa), David (Ida Mae) and Merle (Ottie) Yoder; and sisters Polly Fry, Anna (Glen) Fry, Vera Miller, Edna Miller, Ruby (Elmer) Byler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, seven brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday and all day Friday at the family’s residence, 5965 S. 675 W., Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, also at the family’s residence. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka.

Yoder, Grace Delight Bucher, 80, of Lima, passed away at 3:30 a.m., Sunday, July 10, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born to Harold and Ruth (Horst) Bucher on January 14, 1936 in Upland, CA. She was united in marriage to Henry Yoder on April 26, 1958 and they were married for 58 years, he survives in Lima.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth (Lovina) Yoder of Sarasota, FL; three daughters, Ruth Ann (David) Howard, Rhoda (Ron) Bear, and Elaine (Dave) Hefner; 14 grandchildren, Casey, Heidi, and Anthony Yoder, Cree, Elizabeth, and Savannah Nettleton, Natalia (Leland) Schrock, Benji (Emily) Bear, Jonathan Bear, and Neil, Calvin, Aaron, Russell, and Delaina Hefner; three great-grandchildren, Evan, Koen, and Jaxon; four sisters, Violet (William) Bear, Marie (Carol) Smith, Margaret (Richard) Ross, and Miriam (Wilmer) Good.
She was preceded in death by one brother, James Bucher.
Grace was a friend to many in the community through her Stanley Home Products business. She enjoyed the winters in Florida, where being with her family and playing games, especially shuffle board were her highlights. She enjoyed family gatherings, especially those that included her grandchildren. She was a member of Sharon Mennonite Church in Elida and she was a 1957 graduate of Elida High School.
Funeral services will be on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Sharon Mennonite Church, with calling one hour prior to the service. John Brunk and Lyndon Hartman will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral home.
Surviving are children, Paul R. Yoder, JR and wife Carol; N. Wayne Yoder; Richard A. Yoder and wife Carolyn; and Larry E. Yoder and wife Marilyn; twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and a brother, Carl Wingard.
A granddaughter, Nicole Yoder preceded her in death.
Raising her four sons. She was an avid reader, self-taught pianist, artistic, and encouraged her sons in both athletics and education.

Grace Wingard Yoder, 97, of Harrisonburg, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Oak Lea Nursing Home. Mrs. Yoder was born March 1, 1918, in Johnstown, Pa., and was a daughter of the late Robert and Katie (Blough) Wingard.
She would describe her "career" as rearing her four sons. She lived with a positive attitude and expressed a daily thankfulness and sense of gratitude throughout her life for how blessed she was. Often wishing she would have been permitted to go beyond her eighth-grade education, she nevertheless was an avid reader, a self-taught pianist, one with considerable artistic talent, and a great encouragement to her sons in their educational and athletic pursuits. She was much loved by her family and will be missed and remembered by many, especially her four sons.
On Aug. 19, 1939, she married Paul R. Yoder Sr., who preceded her in death in 2005. Mrs. Yoder is survived by her four sons, Paul R. Yoder Jr. and wife, Carol, of Harrisonburg, N. Wayne Yoder of Harrisonburg, Richard A. "Rick" Yoder and wife, Carolyn, of Harrisonburg, and Larry E. Yoder and wife, Marilyn, of Broadway, and a brother, Carl Wingard of New Holland, Pa. Grandchildren are Liesel Yoder Showalter and husband, Chris, Nicole Yoder (deceased), Lynette Yoder, Lori Yoder Leaman and husband, Jeff, Katherine Yoder, Jessica Yoder and husband, Brad Miller, Sara Yoder Ebersole and husband, Wade, Jenny Yoder, Matthew Yoder and wife, Sarah Boyts Yoder, and Zachery Yoder and wife, Abby Leake Yoder. Stepgrandchildren are Chad Esch and wife, Laura, Marsha Zook and husband, Mike, Melinda Yoder and husband, Aaron. There are 20 great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church with Mark Keller officiating. Burial will be held privately. MIDDLEBURY- Lifelong Middlebury resident and farmer, J. Olen Yoder, 97, died Monday, Nov. 14.
He was born Aug. 29, 1919, to Olen and Barbara (Mishler) Yoder.
He married Leona June Doell.
Along with his wife, he is survived by four children, Sherry (Bruce) Wenger, Richard (Juanita) Yoder, Mary (Randy) Kinsman and Anita (Steve) Miller; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandson,; and two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sisters, Doris Wortinger and Arlene Holdread.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers and a granddaughter.

John S. "Jum" Yoder, 90, of 93 Maple Grove Road, Belleville, died at 5:39 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2016, at Valley View Haven.
Born Jan. 16, 1926, in Belleville, he is a son of the late John P. Yoder and Saloma B. (Yoder) Yoder. Ina K. (Kauffman) Yoder, who he married Oct. 21, 1950, preceded him in death Sept. 3, 1997.
Surviving him are: children, Philann Geiser, of Orville, Ohio, Sidney B. Yoder and wife, Beth, of Belleville, and Colleen F. Miller and husband, Ivan, of McVeytown; an extended family member, Philan Simeti; grandchildren, Frank Yoder and wife, Jessica, Cheryl Krepps and husband, Kevin, Robert Miller and wife, Allison, Heidi Yoder, Shannon Colonna and husband, Michael, Cassie Yost and husband, Corey, and Travis Geiser and wife, Erin; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Raymond Yoder and wife, Thelma, of Colo., and Mary Byler, of Belleville; and his faithful companion, Spotty.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Jum was a truck driver and dispatcher for all of his adult life. When he retired from truck driving, he drove a school bus for 13 years.
He was a charter member of the Big Valley Ambulance Club, a member of the Belleville Fire Company for 55 years and he served with the fire police for many years. He was a member of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church and a member of the Belleville Lions Club for 44 years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed going to the river lot and hunting at the ridge farm.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church with Pastors Alan Kauffman and Herb Zook officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church Tuesday.

MIDDLEBURY — Infant Julie Ranae Yoder, 7 weeks, of Middlebury, died at 4:50 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Riley’s Children Hospital, Indianapolis from a heart defect.
She was born May 28, 2016, to Marcus S. and Lavonda Kay (Miller) Yoder. Survivors in addition to her parents are four sisters, Amanda Rose, Deloris Diane, Lisa Joan, and Wilma Joy Yoder, all at home; grandparents Sam and Esther Yoder of Shipshewana and Wilbur and Nora Miller of Middlebury; three great-grandmothers, Esther Miller of Middlebury, Mary Alice Yoder of Shipshewana and Anna Mae Miller of Cambria, Wis.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at the Verlin Schlabach residence, 58304 C.R. 35, Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, also at the Verlin Schlabach residence. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen.

She was born December 7, 1922 in Wellman, Iowa to Eugene and Alta (Chapman) Slead.
She graduated from Wellman High School in 1940. On March 27, 1943 she married Delmar D. Yoder in Kahoka, Missouri. He died January 30, 2007.
She had lived in Goshen since 1947, coming from Galesburg, Illinois.
Along with her husband, they owned and operated Goshen Plumbing and Heating from 1952 to 1982. Following retirement, Lurmae and Delmar visited all 50 states and traveled more than 400,000 miles in their RV.
Mrs. Yoder also taught in a one room school for a year and worked as a cook at Goshen College from 1975 to 1982.
She was a member of Eighth Street Mennonite Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Paula Meyers of Goshen; a daughter-in-law, Christine Yoder of Clermont, Florida; five grandchildren, Katherine (Perry) Baert, Betsy Stansbury, Tony (Kelli) Meyers, both of Goshen, Stephanie Stidd and Christine Boone; nine great-grandchildren, including Sara Stansbury, Cameron Baert and Kaleb Rockwell; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Sherry Brasher of Coal Valley, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Dennis; three sisters, Marjorie Jones, Joanne Griffith and Betty Starr and a brother, Kenneth Slead.

She was born June 10, 1912, to Harry D. and Susan (Miller) Bontrager.
She married Felty S. Yoder. He died Jan. 25, 2000.
Surviving are two daughters, Clara (Lonnie) Yoder and Gertie (LaVern) Burkholder; three sons, Adin (Anne) Yoder, Willie (Gail) Yoder and Olen (Treva) Yoder; 34 grandchildren; 106 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Ruby Eash; three sons, Merle Yoder, Felty Yoder Jr. and Harry Yoder; two sons-in-law; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven brothers; and two sisters.

GOSHEN - Mabel L. Yoder, 93, of Goshen, passed away Friday, July 15, at Greencroft Healthcare.
She had been on hospice since February.
She was born April 12, 1923, in Millersburg, to Daniel M. and Susie (Chupp) Eash.
On Dec. 27, 1945, she married Alvin J. Yoder in Goshen. He died in 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Stan (June) Yoder and Harold “Hal” Yoder, both of Goshen; four grandchildren, Kendra (Sean) Browning, Kelsey (Phoenix) Yoder, Deborah (Brian) Pinnegar and Adam (Jennifer) Yoder; seven great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorene Hostetler of Goshen and Vera Igou of Littleton, Colo.; a brother, Orvin J. Eash of Goshen; and a sister-in-law, Luella Eash of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jimmy Yoder; two brothers, Harold and Ora Eash; and three sisters, infants, Ruby and Mary Louise Eash and Kathleen Crawford.
Mabel was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed embroidering, jig saw puzzles, playing games and visiting with family and her many friends. She lived a life of service, caring for her son, James and her mother and father. She taught us a lot about being a caring and compassionate person, and how important God, family and friends are. She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church.
The family would like to thank her friends from Christian Fellowship Church, Clearview Church, Greencroft and many others who took the time to visit, pray, bring food, bring flowers, sing and just spend time with Mom these past two years. You all meant so much to her. Also, we would like to thank the hospice nurses, social worker, chaplain, Greencroft Healthcare staff and all the other volunteers who helped these last several months. We just can’t thank you enough.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Friends may also call one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday at Christian Fellowship Church, 15510 C.R. 22, Middlebury. Pastor Craig Garber will officiate.

NAPPANEE - Mary L. Yoder, 86, of Nappanee, died at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa, after a brief illness.
She had been a resident there since 2013.
Mary was born Dec. 26, 1929, to Levi D. and Emma C. (Hochstetler) Stutzman.
On Dec. 7, 1948, she married Earl D. Yoder. He preceded her in death Oct. 6, 1972.
Mrs. Yoder lived her lifetime in this area. She attended Best School. Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Etta Fern (Henry) Bontrager of Topeka, Lora Mae Yoder, Eva Kay (Harry) Miller, Sue E. (Arlen) Miller, all of Nappanee; sons Lyle D. (Kathryn Hochstetler) Yoder of Nappanee, Dr. Harley (Dr. Starla Graber) Yoder of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Joe L. NAPPANEE - Melvin J. Yoder, 81, of Nappanee, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, March 6, with his family by his side at his daughters' home in Etna Green.
He was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Kosciusko County, to Jonas and Nancy (Slabaugh) Yoder. He lived his lifetime in this area. On April 7, 1959, he married Barbara Stutzman in Nappanee.
Mr. Yoder was a retired factory worker. He was a bishop and member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Mr. Yoder is survived by his wife Barbara; children Lloyd (Kathy) Yoder of Goshen, Lamar (Barbara) Yoder and Linda Yoder, both of Nappanee, Lavon Yoder, Leora (Daryl) Burkholder and Lynn (Michele) Yoder, all of Wakarusa, and Lauren (Earl) Chupp of Etna Green; 15 grandchildren; brothers Edwin (Barbara) Yoder of Nappanee and Elmer (Carolyn) Yoder of Goshen; sisters Mary (Levi) Chupp of Etna Green and Martha (Walter) Miller and Elizabeth (Lamar) Hochstetler, both of Nappanee.

GOSHEN - Melvin N. Yoder, 71, of Goshen, died Sunday, June 5.
He was born Aug. 22, 1944, to Noah and Emma (Pfiester) Yoder.
On Sept. 9, 1967, he married Martha Beachey. She died Jan. 20, 1999. On March 4, 2000, he married Joan Bontrager. She survives. Survivors also are a daughter, Michelle (Lonnie) Bontrager; a son, Michael (Brenda) Yoder; four grandchildren; a sister, Edna Yoder; four brothers, Lester, Nelson (Ida), Robert (Nora) and Mervin (Denise) Yoder.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, a brother and an infant sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday at Maple City Chapel, Goshen. A private family burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Topeka.

She was born Aug. 12, 1922, to Erwin and Elizabeth (Lambright) Eash.
She married John Yoder. He died March 29, 2001.

Miriam (Eash) Yoder
June 16, 1927 - April 25, 2016
Miriam (Eash) Yoder passed away Monday at Fairlawn Haven
Nursing Home in Archbold, where she had resided since November
12, 2007. She was born June 16, 1927 on Vine Street in Archbold,
Ohio to Ervin and Ada (Aeschliman) Eash and married Edward H.
Yoder on September 12, 1948.
A resident of Archbold her entire life, Miriam drove school bus for
Archbold Schools and Quadco in Stryker and worked at Sauder
Woodworking in Archbold. Throughout her years of work and into
retirement, Miriam decorated cakes for events and weddings, and
baked for those in need. She directed children's and adult choirs at
Lockport Mennonite Church and played organ for church services
for many years. Miriam also directed many home school community
musical productions, and gave piano lessons to many children in the
Archbold and surrounding communities. Along with her sister
Verda Short and friends Lois Short and Zelma Kauffman, Miriam
sang in "The Voice of Life" women's quartet, recording a gospel
album. In her most recent years of retirement, along with her
siblings Vivian and Wesley forming the Eash Trio, Miriam sang at
many events in the Chapel at Sauder Farm and Craft Village.
Miriam was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Edward H. Yoder who also passed away at Fairlawn Haven on February 25, 2008.
Survived by her two sons, Dan (Renee) Yoder of Archbold, Ohio and Lamont (Charlene) Yoder of Scottsdale, AZ; and her two daughters, Teresa (Richard) Stebbins of Grand Rapids, Ohio, and Greta (Tom) Landis of East Berlin, PA. Ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her six siblings that all grew up in Archbold: Vivian, Victor, Elon, Wesley, Verda and Verlin.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the Lockport
Mennonite Church. Friends may call at the Community Building at
the Fairlawn Complex from 3-5 PM on Thursday. Private interment
will be in the Lockport Cemetery. Short Funeral Home in Archbold
has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Miriam's family would like to give special thanks to everyone from
Fairlawn Haven and Hospice from Community Health Professionals
in Archbold that touched her life and provided her care. Family

SHIPSHEWANA - Robert E. Yoder, 83, of Shipshewana, died Friday, Oct. 14.
He was born to Harley D. and Letha (Pletcher) Yoder on Nov. 9, 1932.
He married Lois Marie Yoder. Lois preceded him in death Aug. 17, 2000. On July 19, 2003, he married Catherine Hochstedler.
Together, Robert and Lois had four sons of whom all survive him, Randy, Roger, Ron and Rob, all of Shipshewana, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving him are three stepchildren, Jarvis Hochstedler, Cynthia Tarrh, and Rochelle Tryling, seven stepgrandchildren, and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He is also survived by sister Phyllis (Yoder) Weaver of Goshen.
A brother, Dean Yoder preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Emma Mennonite Church and the funeral service at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, also at the church, with burial at Shore Mennonite Cemetery by Miller-Stewart Funeral Home.

TOPEKA - Susie LuElla Yoder, 75, of Topeka, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 20, 1940, in LaGrange, to Menno and Edna (Yoder) Schlabach.
On March 22, 1962, she married Dan W. Yoder. He survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are three sons, Harley (Loretta Sue) Yoder, LaVern (Mattie) Yoder and Mervin (Ruth Ann) Yoder; four daughters, Edna Mae Yoder, Saranna (Melvin) Schrock, Erma Arlene Yoder and Sue Ellen (Ernest) Miller; 46 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Raymond (Anna) Schlabach and Harley (Wilma) Schlabach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

He was born September 5, 1932 at Peoria, Woodford Co., IL to Walter Eli and Alma Irene (Eigsti) Yordy. Walter was born December 6, 1896 and died February 25, 1976. Alma was born April 18, 1897 and died June 21, 1972.
On June 9, 1956 Chicago, Cook Co., IL he was married to June Louise Davis, who was born June 30, 1937 and survives.
Surviving are children, Janice Yordy (David) Sutter, Jonathan (Jean) Yordy, Jill (Michael) Stasch, Jeanne Yordy (Matthew Baer) and daughter-in-law Patricia (Drzal) Yordy; eight grandchildren, and a sister, Edith P. Yordy.

He served with PAX in Germany 1952-1954; and was an active member at Lombard (IL) and Shalom (Tucson, AZ) Mennonite Churches.

She was pre-deceased by a brother, Mark J. Zehr; a sister Kathleen LaJune Zehr; and a grand-nephew Zachary D. Zehr
She attended a one room school house on Mechanic Street in Croghan, NY, and in 1937, graduated from Beaver Falls High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Goshen College, and completed graduate work at The Teacher’s College at Columbia, The University of California, Colorado State, Syracuse, Potsdam, Plattsburgh, and St. Lawrence Universities. It was at St. Lawrence University that she received a Master’s Degree. After one year of teaching in LaHarpe, Illinois, she returned to New York State to teach English at West Carthage High School for three years. In 1945, she became employed at Lowville Academy as an English teacher. She then became a remedial reading teacher, and later, a reading supervisor. In 1957, Miss Zehr was appointed to the position of Elementary Principal for the Lowville Academy and Central School District. She served in that capacity until 1975, when she retired early in order to care for her mother.
Miss Zehr was a life-long member of First Mennonite Church, New Bremen, where she was a church Elder and taught Sunday school. She was heavily active in the New York State Teacher’s Association and the Elementary School Principals’ Association. She was a member of the International Reading Association and helped initiate the Black River Valley Reading Council. She was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Watertown, NY. She was also a member of Current Topics of Lowville, and the former president of Lowville Civic Club. After retirement, she volunteered weekly at the Agape Shoppe in Watertown with her sister, Kathleen.
Miss Zehr enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling, quilting and gardening.
Memorial services were held August 29, 2016 at First Mennonite church, New Bremen, NY with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The couple purchased a dairy farm on Route 177 in New Boston. They retired in 1979 and moved to Division Street in Lowville. The couple cared for many foster children over the years. After his retirement, Hank drove cattle truck for the Lomeo sale barn for ten years.
Surviving are his siblings: Sherwood and Linda Zehr of Black River, Estella Yancey of Florida, Rachael Widrick of Lowville, Florence Lehman of New Bremen, sisters-in-law, Geraldine Zehr of Castorland; and Janet Zehr of Croghan.
Preceding him in death were a son, Albert Earl Zehr, two brothers, Gilbert Zehr and Clifford Zehr; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosella and Walter Thompson, Grace and Elmer Steria; a sister-in-law Joan Zehr; and brothers-in-law, Clyde Yancey, Sherwood Widrick and Daniel Lehman. His longtime special friend, Maybell Dana, whom he danced with all over the world, predeceased him by only 25 days.
Mr. Zehr was a member of the Lowville Mennonite Church. He enjoyed traveling and his friendship with the Amish.
Memorial services were held June 28, 2016 at Croghan Mennonite Church, Croghan, Lewis Co., NY with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

He was born Aug. 31, 1990, in West Buffalo Township, Union County, a son of Allen W. and Lovina R. (Hoover) Zimmerman, of Mifflinburg.
Allen was employed with K.W. Enterprise, Montandon as an equipment operator and mechanic.
He was a member of Mountain View Old Order Mennonite Church.
Surviving are four sisters, Minerva Martin, wife of Alson, of Mifflinburg, Barbara Ann Martin, wife of Jonathan, of Millmont, Marlene Hoover, wife of Lawrence, of Millmont, and Lucille Zimmerman at home; three brothers, Marvin, Nevin and Timothy Zimmerman, all at home; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the residence of Allen and Lovina Zimmerman, 209 Rand Road, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday with further services at Mountain View Old Order Mennonite Church beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the home ministry officiating.

Born in East Earl Twp. he was the son of the late Ivan B. and Ethel (Newswanger) Zimmerman and raised by Irene (Newswanger) Zimmerman. He was the husband of Martha (High) Zimmerman and they celebrated sixty years of marriage on March 17, 2016.
Upon moving to Lititz, he worked for local farmers in Lititz and Lancaster. He then worked for Bob Lutz, oil company before establishing his own plumbing, heating and air conditioning business in 1968. Mervin Zimmerman, Inc./The Barn is located on Rothsville Road in Lititz. Mervin was a long time member at Hinkletown Mennonite Church where he taught adult Sunday school for many years. He also served for many years on the boards of the Pennsylvania Relief Sale, Lancaster Christian School and House of His Creation. His interests included playing golf and watching Phillies games. He loved working in his many flower gardens and is well known for making his famous BBQ chicken.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are 4 children, Mervin Craig, husband of Grace (Kennel) Zimmerman, Philip Kent, husband of Karmen (Yoder) Zimmerman, Bonita Sue, wife of Eugene M. Hoover and Merle Wade, husband of Kimberly (Searfoss) Zimmerman. Mervin was blessed to have 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mervin had 8 siblings, Alta, wife of Donald Mellinger, Lester, husband of Thelma (Good) Zimmerman, I. Ray, husband of Martha (Groff) Zimmerman, Joanne, wife of Paul Zimmerman, G. Mark, husband of Marilyn (Stauffer) Zimmerman, Shirley, wife of Glenn Sauder, Susan, wife of Jonathan Moyer, and Fannie, wife of Loren Ressler.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, from 6 to 8 PM, at the Hinkletown Mennonite Church, 2031 28th Division Highway, Ephrata. Surviving are two daughters: Elsa (Anthony) Trotto, Rochester, NY; and Judy (Gregory) Nagel, Wellman, IA; daughter-in-law Brenda Zinn Vangerploeg, South Hampton, Ontario; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Joe (Barb) Willer, Portsmouth, NH.
A son Jacob Zinn, a grandson, Charles Nagel, two sisters, Maria Brubacher and Anna Dumke and one brother, Jacob Willer preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held May 2, 2016 at Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona, Washington Co., IA with burial in Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona, IA.

A homemaker, she assisted her husband with their dairy farm. She was a member of the Media Mennonite Church, Oxford, where she was a past member of the sewing circle. She enjoyed sewing and reading.
Surviving are: three daughters, Anna Grace wife of Charles Moore, Kirkwood, Geraldine wife of James Snyder, St. Leonard, MD, Mary Jane O'Connor Hess wife of Ken Hess, Willow Street; three sons, Raymond husband of Jane Hershey Zook, Narvon, Robert husband of Nancy Peoples Zook, Oxford, Carl husband of Karen Kilheffer Zook, Quarryville; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Raymond Weaver. She was preceded in death by a son, Edwin Zook; two brothers, Earl and Ralph Weaver.
Funeral Services will be held from the Wheat Ridge Chapel at Fairmount Homes, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 1:30 pm with interment following in Hinkletown Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, and from 12:30 to 1:30 pm on Thursday, all at the Wheat Ridge Chapel. MIDDLEBURY - Dale Zook, 88, of Middlebury and formerly of Lake Odessa, Mich., died 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 10, 1927, in Clarksville, Mich., to Dan and Edna (Yoder) Zook. On Aug. 1, 1948, in Clarksville, Mich., he married Marzella Kauffman; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are sons Daryl (Maxine) and Duane (Kathy) Zook, both of Middlebury; daughter Susan (Mark) Thomas of Middlebury; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Lloyd Weaver of Darby, Mont.; sisters Joan Muhling of Goshen, Marcella (Lavern) Swartz of Lake Odessa and Beulah Jantzi of Au Gres, Mich.; brothers Don (Irma) Zook of Burr Oak, Mich., and Fay (Juanita) Zook of Lake Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Marilyn Weaver, two sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at First Mennonite Church in Middlebury. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the church. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury.
Memorials may be given to World Missionary Press.
