Thomas, Royd N.,
87, of Davidsville, PA died December 29, 2009 at Johnstown, PA.  He was born September 25, 1922 at Thomas Dale, PA to Newton and Mary (Livingston) Thomas.  In 1945 he was married to Nancy L. Kaufman, who survives.

Surviving are children, Chris (and Floyd) Lehman; Jerry (and Jill Beyer) Thomas; and Brian (and Cheryl Folk) Thomas; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, a brother, Sanford (and Maxine) Thomas; and a sister-in-law, Grace Mary Thomas.

Sisters: Wilma Speigle and Rheda Keim; and brothers: Millard and Willard Thomas preceded him in death.

He was a Sunday School teacher, treasurer, trustee of Stahl Mennonite Church and volunteered at World's Attic and Meals on Wheels.
 
Memorial services were held January 2, 2010 at Stahl Mennonite Church, Johnstown, PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Trauger, Florence W. Willouer,
92, of Souderton, PA died there on April, 9, 2009.  She was born July 5, 1916 at Harleysville, PA to Henry L. and Alice B. (Minninger) Willouer.  She was married to Norman O. Trauger, who died January 24, 1976.

Surviving are four sons: Norman Jr., wife Mildred, Coopersburg, PA; Richard, wife Anna, Harrison Valley, PA; Eugene, wife Kathy, Glenwood Springs, CO; and  George of Elmira, OR; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Gautier, Evansville, IN; 10 grandchildren,  and 22 great-grandchildren.

A son, Vernon Trauger, two brothers, Howard Willouer, ane LeRoy Willouer, and two sisters, Edith Freed, and Katie Allebach preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held April 13, 2009 at Souderton Mennonite Homes, Souderton, PA with burial in Deep Run Mennonite Church East Cemetery, Perkasie, Bucks Co., PA.

Tribby, Harry Thomas,
85, of Harrisonburg, VA died March 22, 2009 at Ritinour Rest Home in Staunton, VA. He was born December 20, 1923, near Harrisonburg, VA to James Calvin and Mary Dale Tribby. He married December 13, 1950 to the former Betty L. Zeigler.

He was a member of Immanuel Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg, VA.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers James, Charles, John, and sisters Mary Bell and Annie.

Survivied by his wife and a cousin, Lucile Waggy and nieces Bonnie, Betty and Linda.

Funeral service was March 26, 2009 at Immanuel Mennonite Church. Conducted by Pastors Carmen Schrock-Hurst and John Stahl. Burial was in Linville Congregational Church cemetery.

Troyer, Byron Nortell
, 92, of Chandler, AZ died October 18, 2009 at the same place after a period of failing health, kidney failure, and CHF.  He was born July 8, 1918 at Amboy, Indiana to Dr. George Delton and Katherine (Sommers) Troyer.  In 1944 in Indiana he was married to Elda Kauffman, who died January 10, 2000.

Surviving are children, George, Elizabeth, and Steven, 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and two brothers, Weldon, and Dana.

A daughter, Karen and a sister, Annbelle preceded him in death.

Memorial services were held October 24, 2009 at Parkview Mennonite Church, Kokomo, Indiana with burial in the Mast Cemetery, Kokomo.

Trumbo, Norvell Preston, Jr.
, 86, of Harrisonburg, VA died October 13, 2009 at the same place.  He was born April 25, 1923 and married to Doris Showalter, who survives.

Surviving are children, Steven Trumbo and wife Pam; Scott Trumbo and wife Nancy; Brent Turmbo and wife Judith, 4 grandchildren, and three sisters, Helen Shank and husband Stuart; Jane Alderfer and husband Joseph; and Thelma Shank and husband Rowland.

Memorial services were held October 17, 2009 at Trissels Mennonite Church, Rockingham Co., VA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Trupe, Robert L.
, 54, of Ephrata, PA died January 9, 2009. He was the son of Samuel K. and Betty J. (Ziemer) Trupe. He was married to Sylvia L. (Becker) Trupe for 36 years.

He was the Pastor at Martindale Mennonite Church, Ephrata, PA. He enjoyed working with the We Care Prison Crusade each January since 1995. Robert was passionate about mentoring young men to be all that God called them to be.
Surviving is his wife, father and son, Jeffrey L., husband of Denise (Gehman) Trupe of Stevens, PA; 4 daughters, Jennifer L., wife of Steven Cassel of Ephrata, PA; Kimberly J. Trupe of Ephrata, PA; Krystal J., wife of Chad Burkholder of Ephrata, PA and Jessica L. Trupe of Ephrata, PA. His 13 grandchildren, Katelyn, Kyle, Korey, Kole, Andrew, Michael, Dawn, Derek, Nicole, Timothy, Hans, Tanner and Sophia. He is also survived by siblings, Samuel D., husband of Shirley (Weaver) Trupe of East Earl, PA; William D., husband of Cathy (Snyder) Trupe of Terre Hill, PA; John R. Trupe of Terre Hill, PA; Henry L., husband of Charlotte (Fry) Trupe of Narvon, PA; Rose A., wife of Willis Fox of New Holland, PA and Carol S., wife of David Sheaffer of Narvon, PA.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother and grandson, Tyler Matthew Burkholder.

Funeral service was January 13, 2009 Martindale Mennonite Church with Nelson Bowman, Gerald Kaufman, Matthew Martin and Luke Weaver officiating. Interment followed in Martindale Mennonite Church cemetery, Ephrata, PA.

Tucker, Martha E. Schlabach,
87, of Elida, OH died November 10, 2009 at Lima, OH from natural causes.  She was born September 11, 1922 at Thomas, Oklahoma to Lorenzo and Polly (Miller) Schlabach.  On August 25, 1945 she was married to Gerald Tucker, who was born March 5, 1921 and died April 13, 2002.

Surviving are children, Harold (Marilyn) Tucker; Loren (Linda) Tucker; and Gloria Weldy, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, four brothers, Paul Slabaugh; Timothy Schlabach; Titus Schlabach; and Fred Schlabach; and a sister, Pollyanna (John) Eby.

Two brothers, Walter Schlabach and Lloyd Schlabach and two sisters, Evangel Schlabach and Mary Bender preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held November 14, 2009 at Pike Mennonite Church, Elida, OH with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Tudor, Nellie Bernice Shifflet
, 85, of Dayton, VA died July 21, 2009 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 13, 1924, in Rockingham Co., VA to Leslie N. and Ruth Baker Shifflet of Dayton, VA. On October 1, 1967, she married Robert Lee Tudor who preceded her in death on February 1, 1974. She was a member of the Dayton Mennonite Church.

Surviving are a niece Delores Knott, Mount Solon, VA; a nephew, Robert B. (Tiny) Orebaugh, New Market, VA.

Mrs. Tudor was preceded in death by her Husband Robert, two sisters, Charlotte Wanger and Reba Jean Orebaugh.

Funeral service was July 27, 2009 at the Dayton Mennonite Church, conducted Pastors Willard Heatwole and Herman Reitz.Burial was at Weavers Cemetery.

Umble, Leroy D.
, age 88 of Landis Homes formerly of Atglen, passed away at Landis Homes on Thursday, September 24, 2009. He was the husband of Fern Stoltzfus Umble with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage on January 13th of this year. He was born in Atglen, son of John G. & Ada S. Kauffman Umble.

He was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Atglen, where in the past he was an Elder and Sunday School Teacher. Leroy served as pastor at Media Mennonite Church for 27 years.  He then served as pastor at the Maple Grove Mennonite Church of Belleville, PA retiring in 1986. In addition to being a pastor he was also a farmer and later a carpenter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the family cabin in Sullivan County.

Surviving besides his wife are 7 children: Gerald husband of Darlene Martin Umble of New Holland, Mary Ann wife of C. Richard Hess of Lancaster, Evanna wife
of Daniel Hess of Lancaster, Ivan husband of Janet Weber Umble of Christiana, Marlin husband of Mary Ann Asbury Umble of Morgantown, Doris wife of David McCreary of Rising Sun, MD, William husband of Diane Lantz Umble of Gap, 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 siblings: Leon H. Umble of Coatesville, Samuel K. husband of Cora Hertzler Umble of Atglen, Ada Ruth Lapp of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren: Samuel L. & Katie Marie Umble, 6 siblings: Henry K., Omar K., Willis D., John M. Umble, Verna Hostetter and Mary Smoker.

Funeral service will take place from the Maple Grove Mennonite Church, 549 Swan Road, Atglen, PA on Tuesday, September 29th at 11 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Crane officiating.  Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a viewing on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to M.C.C., P.O. Box 500, Akron, PA 17501.

Umble, Leroy D., 88, of Atglen, PA died September 24, 2009 at Lititz, Lancaster Co, PA from aspiration pneumonia.  He was born September 26, 1920 at Atglen, PA to John G. and Ada S. (Kauffman) Umble.  On January 13, 1945 he was married to Fern Stoltzfus, who was born January 9, 1924 and survives.

Surviving are children, Gerald, husband of Darlene Martin Umble; Mary Ann, wife of C. Unruh, Esther Voth
, 81, of Goessel, KS died December 2, 2009 at the same place.  She was born August 8, 1928 in Marion County, Kansas at to David Voth and Mary Voth Flaming Pankratz.  On January 18, 1958 she was married to C. Howard Unruh, who is deceased.

Surviving are children, Tom Unruh and Jill White; John and Elaine Unruh; Fred and Diane Unruh; Bill and Sherry Unruh; 7 grandchildren, four sisters, Wilma and Alvin Schmidt; Alice and Milton Duerksen; Hulda and John Schrag; and Darlene and Jerry Schroeder; and a brother, Elmer and Lynne Voth.

A sister, Betty Voth preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held December 4, 2009 at Tabor Mennonite Church, Marion County, Kansas with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Unruh, Leona E. Nickel
, 100, of Newton, KS died September 10, 2009 at North Newton, KS.  She was born April 2, 1909 at Butler Co., KS to Peter P. and Susanna (Schmidt) Nickel.  On June 1, 1935 at Whitewater, KS she was married to Theodore Unruh, who  died July 5, 1977.

Surviving are a son, Virgil (Eileen) Unruh, and a daughter, Bonnie (Ken) Enns, 4 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held September 14, 2009 at Grace Hill Mennonite Church, Whitewater, KS with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Valtierra, Alfonzo Jr.


Sept. 28, 1943-Dec. 12, 2009
BERWYN, Ill. - Alfonzo Valtierra Jr., 66, died Saturday.

He was an alumnus of Goshen College who taught at Bethany Christian High School and was principal of Galileo Science and Math Academy in Chicago.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Valtierra; two brothers, John and Steve Valtierra; and a sister, Mary Ellena Gernando.

Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, Berwyn, Ill.

The funeral is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m., with burial to follow.

Voth, Frances Louise Funk
, 81, of Newton, KS died September 26, 2009 at the same place.  She was born March 14, 1928 at Goessel, KS to Gerhard (George) R. and Marie (Funk) Funk.  On September 8, 1949 at Goessel, KS she was married to Orville Voth, who died August 7, 1970.

Surviving are children, Coleen and Steve Steussy; Bryson and Janine Voth; and
Jody and Luke Fensky; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother, Rollie and Vernetta Funk; and a sister, Phyllis and LeRoy Goertzen.

A son, Lyndell Voth (died 08-07-70) and a sister, Luella Schmidt preceded her in death.

Memorial services were held September 30, 2009 at Tabor Mennonite Church, Marion County, Kansas with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
