GOSHEN - Lamar Garber, 86, died late Thursday morning, Oct. 13, 2011, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Goshen, to the late Earl and Bertha (Kauffman) Garber. He married Delores Pletcher Dec. 24, 1946, in Goshen. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jean (Larry) Cripe of Goshen; three sons, Lyle (Connie) Garber of Goshen, Kermit (Debra) Garber of New Paris and Kevin (Cheryl) Garber of Avon; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a sister, Donnabelle (Clair) Hoover of Goshen; and three brothers, Maurice Garber of Goshen, Robert (Olene) Garber of Bristol and Marion (Florence) Garber of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Miller, and a twin sister, Betty Betzelberger.
A lifetime Goshen resident, Mr. Garber worked at Starcraft, drove a truck for New Paris creamery and clerked at Hodson's Ace Hardware. He also served as custodian at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church where he attended for more than 30 years. More recently, he attended Maple City Chapel.
Mr. Garber made homemade ice cream for Goshen Farms and Dairy. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 2 p.m. Sunday funeral service will be held at Maple City Chapel, Goshen. Pastor Mel Shetler, Maple City Chapel, and grandson, Rev. Scott Miller, will officiate. Burial will follow at Clinton Brick Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorials may be made to Riley Hospital for Children or American Diabetes Association.

Gehman, Anna Alderfer Geissinger, 82, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Pennsburg,
PA died May 11, 2011 at Grand View Hospital. She was the wife of the late Luke
Clemmer Gehman. Born in Quakertown, PA to Henry and Eva (Alderfer) Geissinger.
She was an active member of Swamp Mennonite Church of Quakertown, PA where she served as a Sunday school teacher, served faithfully as a deacon's wife and was part of the women's "Helping Hands" ministry.
Survived by: Rachel Ferguson (Daughter) & husband, Steve of Sarasota, FL; Lowell Gehman (Son) & wife, Teena of Green Lane, PA; Frances Landis (Sister) & husband, Linford of Souderton, PA; Willard Geissinger (Brother) & wife, Ada of Royersford, PA; Stanley Geissinger (Brother) of Danielsville, PA; 5 Grandchildren - Tom, Marie, Matt, Darren & Danielle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Gehman, a son, Steven Gehman and her brother, Darwin Geissinger.

Geiser, Ruth Norris, 90, of Smithville, OH died April 4, 2011, at Wooster Community Hospital She was born on February 24, 1921, near Doylestown, OH to Benjamin and Irene (Lillard) Norris. She was united in marriage to Lester W. Geiser on March 5, 1939, in Marshallville. He died March 27, 1999.
Ruth had been a resident of Wayne County most of her life. She was a member of Orrville Mennonite Church where she was active in the sewing circle and the deaf ministry of the church.
Survived by daughters, Betty (Dale) Buchwalter of Wooster, OH; Carol (Keith) Workman of Orrville, OH; Jeanne (Ralph) Porter of Polk, OH, and Debra Mast of Tampa, FL; son, Harold (Bonnie) Geiser of Smithville, OH; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nixie Johnston
of Smithville, OH.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester, 3 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a sister, Etholeen Allenbaugh.
Funeral Service was April 9, 2011 at Orrville Mennonite Church with Pastors Todd Martin and Bill Seymour officiating. Burial was in Smithville Cemetery.

Melva and Dwight were the founders of Gerber's Poultry in Kidron and they were both charter members of the Kidron Mennonite Church and were active in many church activities. Melva enjoyed crafts, crocheting and following the Cleveland Indians. She was the support behind her husband as they together worked to develop the family business. This business today is operated by the 2nd and 3rd generations as a successful enterprise. Melva cared very much for her family and prayed for them every day.
She is survived by her four children, Julia (Bill) Gentry of Orrville, Mike (Donna) Gerber of Kidron, Susan (Gerald) Gerber of Apple Creek and Tim (Michelle) Gerber of Dalton; eleven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Glenford (Lillian) Gerber of Kidron; and a sister-in-law, Catherine (Oren) Gerber of Kidron.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant daughters; an infant son; sisters, Dora Amstutz, Lila Gerber and Anna Miller; and brothers, Edwin and Oren Gerber.
Memorial services were December 19, 2011 at the Kidron Mennonite Church with Pastors Thomas Dunn and Lydell Steiner officiating. Family graveside services will be held in the church cemetery.

Gerber, Weldon, 90, of Millersburg, OH died Friday, June 3, 2011 at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital at Millersburg, OH. He was born December 23, 1920 in Holmes Co., Ohio to William and Florence (Geib) Gerber. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Esther Schrock whom he married March 16, 1946, his 6 children Verdella Sue Gerber of Berlin, OH; Richard Loyal (Elizabeth) Gerber of Millersburg, OH; Carolyn (Robert) Bard of Mantua, OH; Cheryl (Jay) Johnson of Beach City, OH; John David (Marjie) Gerber of Millersburg, OH; Connie (Robert) Miller of Millersburg, OH; his 6 grandchildren Terry Bard, James (Leslie) Bard, Tammy Sabatino, Robert (Laurel) Miller Jr., Kenny Miller and Veronica Gerber, 3 step granddaughters, 5 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Services will be held June 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church with Pastor Don Hamsher officiating. SHIPSHEWANA - Alvin Ray Gingerich, 76, of Shipshewana, died at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 15, 1935, in Kokomo, to Joas and Mattie (Hochstetler) Gingerich. On June 9, 1955, in Shipshewana, he married Edna Irene Hochstetler. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters Nola Jean (Mervin) Beechy, Erma Lou (Homer) Bontrager and Ruth Ann Gingerich, all of Shipshewana, and Martha Sue (David) Knepp of Montgomery; sons Nelson Ray (Ruth) Gingerich of Middlebury and Merlin Lee (Suvilla) Gingerich of Tennessee; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister Lydia Bontrager of Arlington, Wash.
He was preceded in death by son Wayne Allen Gingerich, his parents, and sister Mary Louise Otto.
Visitation will be all day today at the family residence, 7235 W 250 N., Shipshewana. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Orville Miller's residence, 2070 N. 700 W ,Shipshewana with bishops Casper Hochstetler and Leroy Miller. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery. TOPEKA -- Barbara Gingerich, 94, of Topeka, died at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 5, 1917, in LaGrange County to Benjamin and Elizabeth (Miller) Bontrager. On Dec. 4, 1941, she married Benedict J. Gingerich. He died Jan. 10, 1999.
Surviving are daughter Katie Irene (Ora Jr.) Nisley of Topeka; sons Clarence (Mary) Gingerich of Shipshewana, Ben (Linda) Gingerich Jr. of Ligonier, Freeman (Clara Fern) Gingerich, Orla (Becky) Gingerich and Perry (Janet) Gingerich, all of Topeka, and Larry (Paula) Gingerich of Ligonier; 25 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and sister Lydia Bontrager of Shipshewana.
Her husband; parents; brothers Manas, Noah and Joe Bontrager; sister Saloma Mast; and one grandson are deceased.
She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today and all day Saturday at the family residence, 9105 W. 600 S., Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday also at the family residence. Bishop LaVern Lambright and home ministers will officiate. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery.

GOSHEN - Lillian M. Gingerich, 87, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at her home.
She was born May 18, 1924, in Goshen to the late Ira S. and Fannie Mae (Bender) Miller. She married John S. Gingerich Sept. 14, 1947, in Goshen. He died Aug. 24, 1995.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon (Del) Jakabosky of Olathe, Kan.; three sons, Kenneth (Karen) Gingerich of Omaha, Neb., Keith Gingerich of Honolulu and Kermit (Karyn) Gingerich of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, K. Marion Miller of Middlebury.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Lewis Miller.
A lifetime Goshen resident, Mrs. Gingerich attended Maple City Chapel. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and was a real prayer warrior.
Friends may call 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Maple City Chapel, Goshen, where an 11 a.m. funeral service will be conducted. Burial will follow in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

MIDDLEBURY -- Friends of David F. Glick may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Joy Conservative Mennonite Church, Goshen. The Revs. Todd Neuschwander and Marvin Troyer, both of the Living Waters Church, and the Rev. Ben Shirk will officiate. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen.
Mr. Glick, 85, of 402 W. Berry, died at 8:38 a.m. Wednesday (March 8, 2006) in the emergency room of Goshen General Hospital, apparently of a heart attack.
He was born July 26, 1920, in Lancaster County, Pa., to John K. and Sarah (Fisher) Glick and had moved to this area in 1949, coming from Pennsylvania. He married Lavina Schrock on May 13, 1951, at Townline Mennonite Church, Shipshewana.
She survives, along with four daughters, Rosa (Don) Eash of Greenfield, Ind., and Sara (Jeff) Lantzer, Martha (Jack) Hankins and Susie (Robert) Richardson, all of Goshen; two sons, Sam Glick of Elkhart and Bob (Janet) Glick of Goshen; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Emma (Abner) Zook of Newmanstown, Pa.; and one brother, Christ Glick of Gap, Pa.
He was preceded in death by four infant brothers and one sister.
Mr. Glick was a farmer, carpenter, school bus driver and the owner of the Gospel Light Book Store, Middlebury. He was a member of Living Waters Church, Mennonite Disaster Services, a volunteer involved with prison ministry and graded Bible study course papers for Gospel Echoes.

Glick, Lavina Schrock, 88, of Goshen, formerly of Middlebury, IN died June 23, 2011 at Greencroft Health Care in Goshen. She was born on September 6, 1922, in Arthur, IL, to Jacob and Fannie (Hershberger) Schrock. On May 13, 1951 in Shipshewana she married David Glick, he died March 8, 2006.
Surviving are four daughters, Rosie (Don) Eash of Greenfield, IN; Sara (Jeffery) Lantzer, Martha (Jack) Hankins and Susie (Robert) Richardson all of Goshen, IN; two sons, Bob (Janet) Glick of Goshen, IN; Sam Glick of Elkhart, IN; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.

She was married 52 years to the late Paul H. Gochnauer who died in 2005. Born in Lancaster Twp., she was the daughter of the late Elvin G. and Laura E. (Herr) Herr.
Jean was a homemaker and a member of the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church where she was active in the sewing circle. Jean had a selfless caring spirit and enjoyed her volunteer work at the Columbia Re-Uzit Shop, the Hans Herr Gift Shop, the Auxiliary of the Rohrerstown Fire Co. and quilting at the M.C.C. Resource Center. She was a graduate of Penn Manor High School.
Surviving are two sons, James E. husband of Ruth A. Gochnauer of Brooklyn, NY and David L. husband of Rebecca Gochnauer of Conestoga; three daughters, C. Jane wife of Myron Brubaker of Olar, SC, Patricia Lee wife of Carl Frey of Lancaster, and Sandra F. wife of Wayne Reist of Landisville. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Arlene wife of Harry Brenneman of Westminster, SC and Mary Ann wife of Lamar Denlinger of Carlisle.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:30 P.M. at the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church, 601 Rohrerstown Road, Lancaster, PA. Friends may call at the church on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Dennis, and a stillborn grandson, Addison James Schrock.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 32 years, James Y. Gochnauer; children, John of Plain City, Naomi (Darrell) Schrock of Bealeton, VA; Mark of Plain City; and granddaughters, Jolynn and Carina Schrock. She is also survived by siblings, Rose (Carl) Eby of London, Nate (Ruth) Yutzy of Hawkesville, Ontario, Canada; Steve (Dianne) Yutzy of Plain City, Lucy (Lloyd) Beachy of Plain City; and Sheila (Allen) Campbell of Bellefontaine. She has 19 nieces and nephews and 3 great-nieces and nephew.
Linda was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed being a homemaker, reading, working in her flowerbeds and being with her granddaughters. She was a long time member of the United Bethel Mennonite Church and was a very faithful in attendance, even when her health made mobility difficult for her. She enjoyed music and had a beautiful high-soprano voice. She cared about the spiritual needs of others and had a very unselfish attitude, always putting the desires of others ahead of her own.

Godshalk, Earl H., 84, of Blooming Glen, PA, died May 21, 2011 at Grand View Hospital. Born in Chalfont, PA to Horace and Elsie (Hockman) Godshalk. He was the beloved husband of Ruth D. (Mitman) Godshalk for 60 years.
Earl was a life time member of Doylestown Mennonite Church, where he was active with the TNT youth activities group. From 1950 to 1968 Earl and his family served with the Allentown Mennonite Mission. Earl enjoyed speaking Pennsylvania Dutch and attending dinners at the Grund-Sow Lodge. He was known to fix anything, enjoyed flowers and gardening.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: A daughter, Beth Ponzio of Philadelphia, PA; A son, E. Brent Godshalk, PhD of Cary, NC; two grand-daughters, Lisa Ramirez and her husband - Juan of Philadelphia, PA. and
Ashley Godshalk of Cary, NC; A grandson, Tyler Godshalk of Cary, NC; and a
great-grandson Antonio Giovanni Ramirez of Philadelphia, PA; a brother, Paul

Surviving are a son, J. Daniel (Marian) Goering, two daughters, Kathleen Goering (Kevin) McMahon and Barbra Goering (Jim Murray), as well as five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Two sisters, Rosena Eldridge Peters and Grace Eldridge Halperin preceded her in death.
Beth Eldridge Goering, 92, died on March 18, 4:00 p.m., at Kidron Bethel Health Care in North Newton. She was born May 2, 1918, to John P. and Grace Comstock Eldridge in Kansas City, Missouri. Although originally named Ann Elizabeth, she was always called Beth.
Beth attended Paseo High School and Kansas City Junior College and received her B.S. degree in Home Economics at Bethel College, where she met her future husband, Jacob D. Goering. They were married in August 1941.
During World War II, Beth served as dietician at Civilian Public Service Camps in Lapine, Oregon, and North Fork, California, where her husband was also on the staff. With the birth of her first child, J. Daniel Goering in 1945, Beth gave her time and attention to her growing family as they moved to Akron, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Illinois and Smithsburg, Maryland. When her husband accepted a position on the faculty of the University of Maryland, the family, now including daughters Kathleen and Barbra, moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, where Beth and Jacob lived for 39 years.
In the mid-sixties, Beth received training as one of the first Head Start teachers in Montgomery County, and then taught Head Start in Burtonsville, Maryland for seven years. In 1973 she accompanied her husband to attend the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland. She participated in workshops on the therapeutic art of painting images that emerge in dreams and the unconscious. Upon her return to the U.S., Beth hosted classes facilitating painting from the unconscious in Silver Spring for the next 17 years. Beth also studied the practice of reflexology and over the years performed foot massages for many friends and family members. In 1996, Beth and Jacob moved to Kidron Bethel Retirement Village in North Newton, Kansas, where Beth constructed a painting room, continued to give foot treatments to friends and family, and became a volunteer for Harry Hynes Hospice at Kidron Bethel Health Care until shortly before her death. Beth's body was donated to the K. U. Medica Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Ashes will be inurned at a later date.
Memorial services were held March 29, 2011 at Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton, Kansas with burial to be in BCMC Columbarium, North Newton.

ORRVILLE -- Esther E. Good, 90, of Orrville, formerly of the Wadsworth area, wife of the Late Elmer Good, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at her residence after a short period of declining health.
She was born Aug. 25, 1921, in Medina County to the late Abram and Elsie (Eberly) Good and married Elmer Good on Jan. 16, 1943 in Wadsworth. Elmer died May 1, 2009.
Esther graduated from Wadsworth High School and was a homemaker all her life.
She was a member of County Line Mennonite Church and had worked with her husband to produce the "Home Lights" newsletter, published in the interest of the County Line Mennonite Church, for more than 45 years.
Surviving are children, Milton (Ruth) Good of Dalton, Eldon Good of the home, Ann (Wilbur) Steiner of Smithville, May (Darry) Neuenschwander of Dalton, Elmer Dean (Wanda) Good of Oconto, Wis., Norma (Wain) Neuenschwander of Orrville and Gloria (Michael) VanPelt of Columbiana; 43 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Pauline Ressler and Beulah (John) Horst Amstutz, both of Wadsworth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, and sisters, Mabel Wenger and Mary Wenger.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. at County Line Mennonite Church, 19199 Church Road, Dalton, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call today (Tuesday) from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. at County Line Mennonite Church in Dalton.

DALTON -- Heber James Good, 69, 153 S. Kurzen Road, Dalton, passed away at his home, on Monday morning, Oct. 31, 2011, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born in Wooster on Oct. 18, 1942 to Heber and Edith (Weaver) Good, and was united in marriage to Judith Litwiller on Sept. 15, 1963, in Ithaca, Mich. She survives.
The first three and half years of his life were spent in Columbiana County at his Grandpa Weaver's home, and the remainder in Wayne County, where he had attended Dalon Schools. During the first two years of his marriage he served in 1-W service in Buhler, Kan., and Campo 45 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He then worked on and owned a dairy farm near Dalton. He retired from farming in 2006.
Following retirement, he did small engine repair, volunteered at MCC Connections and transported Amish Special Education children and teachers to school.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Judy, are children, Shari and Kent Hauder and their four children of Versailles, Mo., Debra of the home, Janelle and Kent Haynes and their five children of Chetek, Wis., Teresa and Aaron Toews and their three children of Hardin, Mont., and Brian Good also of Hardin, Mont.; his mother, Edith Good of Montezuma, Kan.; a brother, Lawrence and Dorothy Good of Center, Colo.; sisters, Rachel and Dennis Unruh of Versailles, Mo., Mary and Ben Swarey of Reedsville, Pa., and Lena and Luke Troyer of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Aneta and Tim Hochstetler of Marion, Ala., Connie Stoner of Ithaca, Mich., and Faith Nightingale of Twin Falls, Idaho.
His father, a brother, John, a niece, Janice Unruh, and two brothers-in-law died previously.

Born in Hinkletown, PA he was the son of Esther (Herr) Good of Lancaster and the late Cloyd Good. His wife, Rowena J. (Weaver) Good, died April 14, 1998.
"Goody" worked at the former Sperry New Holland plant, now CNH, in New Holland for 36 years, retiring in 2001. Prior to retiring he was a fork lift operator.
He was a member of St. John Center Lutheran Church, New Holland VFW Post 7362, New Holland American Legion Post 662, Penn Dutch Sportsman's Club in New Holland, and the Wild Country Hunting Club in Wellsboro, PA.
LaVerne was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and being an ice hockey fan. In his earlier years he also enjoyed playing ice hockey.
During the Vietnam War he served his country in the US Army.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two sons, Timothy, married to Kristine (High) Good of New Holland, and Sean, married to Lisa (Finefrock) Good of New Holland; four grandchildren, Cassondra, Corrine, Noah, and Jacob Good; three sisters, Shirley, married to Angel Orta of East Earl, Arlene, married to Francisco Delgado of East Earl, and Louise, married to Israel Colon Mohnton; and two brothers, Kenneth, married to Elena (Bedoya) Good of New Holland, and Donald Good of Lancaster.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. at St. John Center Lutheran Church, 599 Reading Road, East Earl, PA with the Reverend Robert Kramer officiating. ORRVILLE -- Surrounded by his loving family, Robert J "Bob" Good, 77, of Orrville, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, after a short period of declining health.
Bob was born Dec. 14, 1933, on the family farm in Orrville, the son of H. Jason and Beulah (Yoder) Good, and was a 1951 graduate of Dalton High School. Bob's Voluntary Service was in Glenwood Springs, Colo., and also served his country for two years in 1W Service in Dayton.
He was united in marriage to Elverta Martin on May 15, 1954, in Orrville. Elverta passed away on Nov. 26, 1994. On Feb. 14, 1998, he married Donna L. Catrone. She survives.
Bob had been employed at Mennonite Mutual Insurance, Brenneman Insurance, Kinney Lumber, and served many years as Green Township clerk. Bob was a member of Wooster Grace Brethren Church, where he was a member of the choir, and also an associate member of Martins Mennonite Church, where he had served in numerous leadership positions. Bob was also a member of numerous community, civic and insurance organizations.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Donna (Catrone) Good, are children, Sheryl (Ed) Anderson of Apple Creek, Stan (Diane) Good of Winamac, Ind., and Carol (Mitch) Springer of Stanford, Ill.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his mother, Beulah Good of Rittman; brothers, Raymond B. (Betty) Good of Dawson Creek B.C., Canada, and Roger (Linda) Good of Bird-In-Hand, Pa.; and a sister, Helen (Luther Good) Schlabach of Smithville.

GOSHEN -- Amanda Graber, 93, of Goshen, died at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Greencroft Health Care Center, Goshen.
She was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Elkhart County to Noah J.L. and Mattie (Miller) Miller. On March 28, 1937, in Middlebury, she married Allen Graber. He died June 1, 2006.
Surviving are daughters Velda (Freeman) Hershberger of Goshen and Idella (Rev. Ruben) Chupp of Nappanee; sons Devon (Barb) Graber of Constantine, Mich., and Nelson (Jan) Graber of Portage, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers Harvey, Menno, Levi, Amos, Noah N. and Ora Miller and sisters Fannie, Anna and Ida Miller and an infant.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Clinton Brick Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church. Son-in-law the Rev. Ruben Chupp and the Rev. Dan Miller will preside.

Russell Edward "Russ" Gratz, 86, died at 2:30 a.m., May 28, 2011, at Baton Rouge Senior Health Facility, Lima, Ohio.
He was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Allen County to Homer S. and Edna Badertscher Gratz. On Dec. 16, 1961, he married Violet Hardesty Gratz, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Gratz was a member of First Mennonite Church, Bluffton and was an employee of Ford Motor Co., Lima Engine Plant, from where he retired in 1988. He was also a teacher and varsity baseball coach and basketball coacher at Edgerton, Vaughnsville and Grand Rapids high schools.
He was a World War II Army veteran, a paratrooper, and assigned to the Army's 82nd Airborne Division.
He was a graduate of Bluffton High School in 1942 and graduated from Bluffton College in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in education.
Mr. Gratz was a member of the Bluffton High School 1941-42 basketball team that advanced to the Class B state basketball tournament. He was named to the all-tournament first team. He received all-Ohio honorable mention in 1950 as a member of the Bluffton College basketball team.
Survivors include two stepsons, Roger (Joan) Hardesty and E. Frank Hardesty, Lima; a brother, Donavin S. (Gayle) Gratz of Lancaster, Pa.; two sisters, Margaret Detwiler of Toledo, and Joan (Arden) Slotter, of Castle Road, Colo. Also surviving are five grandchildren.
A brother, Homer Gratz, Jr.; a sister, Kathleen Gratz; and a brother-in-law, Paul Detwiler, preceded him in death.
Graveside services will begin at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday in Woodlawn Cemetery.

PAXTON - Geraldine "Geri" B. Grieser, 92, of Paxton, died at 4:31 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Heartland Healthcare Center of Paxton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the East Bend Mennonite Church of Fisher, with the Rev. Michael Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the East Bend Mennonite Gardens, Fisher. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the church and one hour before the service on Sunday.
Mrs. Grieser was born April 9, 1919, in Rankin, the daughter of Oscar A. and Britha Gustava Thompson Noland. She married Roy E. Grieser on Oct. 15, 1940. He died June 24, 1993.
Surviving are: four children, Stanley (Suzanne) Grieser of Naples, Fla., Marlene (Robert) Stalter of Fisher, Patricia (David) Grace of Denham Springs, La., and Stephen (Geraldine E.) Grieser of El Paso; 12 grandchildren; 31 greatgrandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Grieser was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; one step-great-grandson; four brothers; and four sisters.
Mrs. Grieser and her husband farmed for many years in the Gibson City and Paxton areas. She worked as a cook at the former West Lawn Grade School in Paxton before moving to Rantoul in 1961. She then worked for many years at Zanders Grocery in the bakery department and from 1966-68 as a cook at Rantoul High School.
They then moved to Champaign-Urbana, where she worked at Robeson's Department Store for many years in the handbag department and later at Carson Pirie Scott in the Lincoln Square Mall. After her husband died and she moved to Paxton, she worked at the Ford-Baier Furniture Store.
She attended and was very active in the East Bend Mennonite Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking and cross-stitching.
Memorials may be made to her church or Heartland Healthcare Center, Paxton.

John Griffin Sr.
John W. Griffin, Sr. of Denver, Colorado died at his home in Denver April 26, 2011. CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE will be held at First Mennonite Church, 430 W. Ninth Avenue Denver, Colorado on May 21, 2011 at 2 pm. John was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, and is survived by his wife, Jan, his daughter, Rochelle Griffin(Jantien Lodder) of The Netherlands and his son, John Griffin, Jr. (Jill Griffin) and three grandchildren, Austin, Casey and Elyse Griffin of Hesston, Kansas.
John graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa where he and Elsie established a student scholarship. He continued his educational pursuits receiving a Master's Degree in School Administration and Curriculum from Columbia University. Then he completed his doctoral studies at the Michigan State University. In his early career he taught math and science. In one small school, he taught math and science and was also the Principal and basketball coach. He moved on to serving as Principal and took a leadership role in developing and implementing new school facilities. The position he enjoyed most was serving as Superintendent of The American International School of The Hague in The Netherlands. John established Stewardship Counseling, Inc., providing charitable estate planning working with non-profit institutions such as colleges, hospitals, nursing homes and community foundations in Kansas and across the country.
He has often been referred to by peers as a pioneer in the field of philanthropy. Over the years John worked with Central Kansas Community Foundation, Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas, Emporia State University Foundation, Mennonite Brethren Foundation, Western Kansas Community Foundation and South Central Community Foundation. He was instrumental in helping to establish several of these community foundations. In South Dakota, he worked with the Watertown Community Foundation and South Dakota Community Foundation. In addition, he did consulting work with several colleges and universities such as Eastern Mennonite University, Emporia State University, Hesston College, Southwestern College and Tabor College. Groff, Megan Joelle, stillborn daughter of Carl S. and Mary L. (Nolt) Groff, of 773 Alleghenyville Road, Mohnton, died Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Ephrata Community Hospital.
Surviving in addition to her parents are four siblings, Matthew, Alisha, Andrew, and Derek; paternal grandparents, Leon and Miriam (Shirk) Groff of Ephrata;
maternal grandparents, Elmer and Mary Jane (Martin) Nolt of Mohnton; paternal great grandmother, Lizzie Mae (Redcay) Groff of Ephrata; and maternal great grandparents, Rufus and Bernice (Weaver) Nolt of Manheim.
Preceding her in death is a brother, Dominic.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Cemetery, 140 Pleasant Valley Road, Ephrata. Arrangements are with the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.

Stanley was a member of Zion Mennonite Church of Souderton, PA. He was a member of the Lansdale RA Chapter #301 F&AM for 50 years and a member of the Rajah Shriners International. Stanley was also a union representative for the Teamsters.
In addition to his wife, Trudy, he is survived by: Barry Groff (Son) & wife, Rita of Hatfield, PA; Joanne Brewer (Daughter) & husband, Warren of San Jose, CA; Henry Groff (Brother) of Sumneytown, PA; 4 Grandchildren; 5 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Groff, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be held May 10, 2011 at Anders Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, Souderton, PA. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Souderton, PA.

Mary Ellen Gross, 85, of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away on Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA. She was born June 4, 1926, in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Allan and Maria (Erb) Fehrman.
Mary Ellen was the co-founder, along with her husband, of Ashcombe Farm and Greenhouses, Mechanicsburg. She is a member of the Middlesex Reformed Mennonite Church, Carlisle.
Mary Ellen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Glenn M. Gross; and one brother, Paul C. Fehrman of Port Colburne, Ontario. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in her church, 54 North Middlesex Rd. Carlisle, with Sam Eshelman and Gene Beehler officiating. Burial will follow in the Winding Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, PA.
He married Leona Catharine Parmer of Greencastle, PA; they were looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on September 1, 2011. Luther's childhood church was Cedar Grove Mennonite Church in Greencastle, PA. Later he became a member of Paramount Brethren in Christ Church in Paramount, MD, where he served as a church deacon and trustee, helped in the Sunday school nursery, and sang in the choir. He was also a board member at Heritage Academy in Hagerstown, MD, and was active in the Christian Businessmen's Committee. He was an active member of the Messiah Village Church.
Survived by his wife, Leona; daughters Karen Grove and her husband Jay Ach, Jolene Ness and her husband Randy; grandchildren Jaron, Katie (and her husband Josh Abro) and Natalie; and sisters Amanda Dick and Leona Musselman.
A memorial service was July 27, 2011 at the Messiah Village Church He will be buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown, MD.

Grove, Mary Ellen Hertzler, 97, of Stuarts Draft, VA died April 8, 2011 at the same place. She was born January 23, 1914 at Newport News, VA to M. L. and Anna (Wenger) Hertzler. On June 7, 1938 she was married to Irvin Edward Grove, who was born May 13, 1914 and died October 3, 1992.
Surviving are children, Audrey & Jessy Pena, Dr. Stanley N. & Mary Grove, Lawrence E. & Judy Grove, Wesley J. & June Grove, Dr. Robert I. & Sheryl Grove,
15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Elsie Rohrer and Velma Garnand, and a brother, Allen Hertzler.
Two brothers, Dr. Charles Hertzler and Vernon Hertzler preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held April 17, 2011 at Springdale Mennonite Church, Waynesboro, VA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary Ellen Grove, 97, of Stuarts Draft, Va., died Friday, April 8, 2011, at Stuarts Draft Christian Home. Mary was born in Newport News, Va., on Jan. 21, 1914, and was a daughter of the late M.L. and Anna (Wenger) Hertzler. She was a member of the Springdale Mennonite Church in Waynesboro. She taught Sunday school and was active in other functions in the church. She was a homemaker.
She was united in marriage June 7, 1938, to Irvin Edward Grove, who died Oct. 3, 1992. Mary is survived by a daughter, Audrey Pena and husband, Jessy, of Stuarts Draft; four sons, Dr. Stanley N. Grove and wife, Mary, of Goshen, Ind., Lawrence E. Grove and wife, Judy, of Mount Sidney, Wesley J. Grove and wife, June, of Mount Solon, and Dr. Robert I. Grove and wife, Sheryl, of Avon, Ind.; two sisters, Elsie Rohrer of Harrisonburg and Velma Garnand of Chesapeake; and one brother, Allen Hertzler of Harrisonburg. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Charles Hertzler, and Vernon Hertzler.
A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the
Springdale Mennonite Church in Waynesboro with Pastor Mark Schloneger officiating. Interment was earlier at the Springdale Mennonite Church
Cemetery.
