He was born April 10, 1950 at Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH to Vern and Evelyn (Nofziger) Nafziger. Vern was born July 27, 1918 and died October 13, 2009. Evelyn was born October 29, 1918 and survives.
On June 26, 1971 at Archbold he was married to Shirley Nofziger, who was born May 18, 1950 and survives.
Surviving are children, Jacob Nafziger, Amy (Ross) Springer, Lincoln (Jen) Nafziger, and Rachel (Brian) Oswald, 8 grandchildren, and 5 sisters, Melda (Larry) Richer, Esther (Wendell Badertscher) Nafziger, Julia (Neal) Beck, Norma (Doug) Kauffman, and Karleen Behnfeldt.
A brother, Mervin Nafziger preceded him in death.
Dan was the 6th of 7 generations farming the same farmland. He was very active in the church.

Eldon Dean Nafziger

GOSHEN - Eldon Dean Nafziger, 79, died unexpectedly early Thursday morning, Oct. 6, 2011, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Hopedale, Ill., to the late Eldon R. and Sadie (Sutter) Nafziger. He married Laverne Vogt on Sept. 2, 1954, in Hesston, Kan. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lee Ann (Paul) Ewert of Hannibal, Mo., and Donna (Bill) Suter of Pandora, Ohio; two sons, Eric (Karen) Nafziger of Hopedale and Tim (Izaete) Nafziger of Goshen; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lu (Roger) Neumann of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Springer.
A 1953 graduate of Goshen College, Mr. Nafziger moved to Goshen seven years ago after a lifetime of farming in Illinois.
Mr. Nafziger served many years on multiple Mennonite Church Conference committees. He was instrumental in establishing the partnership between the Illinois Mennonite Conference and the Argentine Mennonite Church. He volunteered for 10 years with the Mennonite Foundation.
A member of Berkey Avenue Mennonite Church, he enjoyed Bible study, New Testament Greek and traveling, especially international travel. Locally, he sang with the Evergreen Singers.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, funeral service will be at Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship with Pastors Dan Schrock and Lois Stoltzfus Mast officiating. Burial will be in Hopedale Mennonite Cemetery, Hopedale.

GOSHEN - Mary Katherine Nafziger, 86, of Juniper Place and Evergreen Place, Greencroft, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, evening at IU Health Goshen Hospital after a gradual decline in health.
She was born April 28, 1925, in Chenoa, Ill. to the late John M. and Anna (Litwiller) Nafziger.
She is survived by a sister, Anna Ruth (Maynard) Good, and a brother, Myrl A. (Twila) Nafziger, both of Goshen; 14 nieces and nephews; and 43 great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, J. Marvin and Edith Nafziger; and a nephew, Jim Good.
Ms. Nafziger taught grade school in Pekin, Ill., from 1947 to 1949 and at Parkside Elementary from 1949 to 1950. She then taught at Goshen College as a professor of elementary education for 37 years until her retirement in 1987.
A member of College Mennonite Church, she volunteered at the Greencroft Library. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Monday funeral service in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church. Pastor Phil Waite will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Eastern time Tuesday in Hopedale Mennonite Cemetery, Hopedale, Ill.

Anna Ruth Cutrell Neufeld, of Loveland, CO transitioned to spirit on August 5th 2011. She was born in Scottdale, PA, November 13, 1933, graduated from Brighton (Colorado) High School in 1951 and attended Goshen College, Goshen Indiana. She married Archie Wilbur Neufeld of Balko, OK on January 17, 1953. She was preceded in death by her husband Archie and daughter Cheryl Dawn. She is survived by her son Daniel Neufeld, daughter JoEllen Neufeld, 5 grandsons (Christopher, Anthony, Darren, Andre and Lucas), 3 granddaughters (Heather, Megan and Cherylyn) and one great granddaughter (Alysa).
Her family wishes to thank all those who assisted in her final days especially the caring staff at Hillcrest Assisted Living Center. Being certified as a massage therapist helped to fulfill her passion for the healing arts, but foremost in her life was her tireless quest for spiritual growth.
She leaves a legacy of love and devotion to her family. At her request, a celebration of her passing is planned for her close friends and family. Donations may be made to either Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp or Pathways Hospice.

BRISTOL - Elizabeth H. Nisley, 85, of Bristol, died at 8:04 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Elkhart Hospice House.
She was born July 8, 1926, in Middlebury, to Henry and Sovilla (Weirich) Hochstetler. On Nov. 6, 1945, in Middlebury, she married Daniel A. Nisley. He died Feb. 6, 2011.
Surviving are daughter Janice E. (James) Morgan of Staunton, Va.; sons Danny E. (Lori) Nisley Sr. of Elkhart and Kevin (Angel) Nisley of Elkhart; grandchildren Jason, Jennifer (Clayton), Danny Jr. (Tara), April (Josh), Jeremy, Kyle and Kodi; great-grandchildren Dominic, Cassie, Nickson and Greyson; sisters Mary Mast of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Alice (Abe) Bontrager of Canton, Ohio, and Susie Miller of Middlebury; and brothers Eli (Elizabeth) Hochstetler of Hutchinson, Kan., and Samuel (Martha) Hochstetler of Sarasota, Fla.
She was preceded by two siblings.

Nissley, Mervin Brubaker
LEWISBURG - Mervin Brubaker Nissley, 81, of Lewisburg, formerly of Mifflinburg, passed away at 5 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, where he resided since 2007. He was born Nov. 17, 1929, in West Donegal Township, Bainbridge, Lancaster County, a son of the late Raymond E. and Helen (Brubaker) Nissley. On March 4, 1950, he married the former Esther Ruth (Weaver) Nissley, who survives.
Together, they shared 61 years of marriage. Mervin attended Shank School through eighth grade and attended Lancaster Mennonite School. Mervin was a lifelong dairy farmer. He attended Millmont Mennonite Church. He served as a song leader, a Sunday school teacher, and a board member. Mervin was a collector of Allis Chalmers tractors and enjoyed putting puzzles together.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 11 children and their spouses, Thelma and Dale Kennedy, of Elizabethtown, Sharon and Dennis Harnish, of Lititz, Joyce and Ken Smoker, of Parkesburg, Phyllis and Dave Becker, of Elizabethtown, Marilyn and Delbert Swartz, of Thompsontown, Maurice and Joyce Nissley, of Mifflinburg, Cheryl and Ken Shaun, of Goshen, Ind., Charles and Sallie Nissley, of Turbotville, Sylvia and Sam Beiler, of Millmont, Gloria and Carl Reinford, of Middleburg, and Luella and Dan Miller, of Lewisburg; two sisters, Alma and Carl Snavely, of Hershey, and Elsie Nissley, of Lancaster; daughter-in-law, Marian and Dale Wenger, of Columbiana, Ohio; 29 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Milford Nissley on Nov. 11, 1995, one son-in-law, Bill Miller on March 16, 1997, one brother, Vernon Nissley on June 3, 2002, and two grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, followed by the funeral at 10, at the Millmont Mennonite Church, with Pastor's Jonathan Schmidt, Lewis Hoover, Phil Siegrist, and Roy Longenecker, officiating. On March 6, 1948 at Lititz, PA she was married to Kenneth B. Noll, who was born November 4, 1926 and survives.
Surviving are a daughter, Jeanette Bontrager wife of Herman Bontrager; a son, Herb Noll husband of Becky Noll; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Mary Jane Landis, widow of C. David worked as a truck driver for Rohrer's Quarry in Lititz; previously, he was employed as a truck driver for B. R. Kreider & Son, Inc., Manheim. He was a member of the East Petersburg Mennonite Church and was an active bowler participating in local bowling leagues throughout the years.
Surviving are three brothers: Paul G. husband of Arlene Nolt of Mount Joy, Ben G. husband of Diane Nolt of LeRoy, MN, Mark G. Nolt of Warrensburg, MO; two sisters: Esther wife of John Mast of Red Lake, Ontario, Dottie wife of Tim Weber of East Petersburg.
Preceding him in death is a brother, John Nolt, an infant brother, and two sisters: Miriam and Ruth Nolt.

Born in Leacock Township, Leola, he was the son of the late Amron R. and Rhoda R. (Stehman) Nolt and was the husband of Arlene (Zimmerman) Nolt.
He was a member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church. David was also a member of the Blue Lodge #665 F&A.M. He joined the lodge because of his son's illness. His other memberships include the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, the Reading Consistory, 32 degree, and lifetime membership of the American Legion, Ephrata. David enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Phillies fan. David also enjoyed going to the mountains and spending time with his grandchildren.
David was Vice President at Nolt Brothers, Ephrata.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his daughter: Mary Jane, wife of Joseph D. Green Jr. of Stoughton, MA; his son: Robert L., husband of Dinah L. (Stoyer) Nolt of Ephrata; his stepson: Jeff, husband of Christina (Miles) Sullivan of Morgantown; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Burnell Nolt, Levi Nolt, Gilbert Nolt, and Donald Nolt; and his sister: Eleanor (Nolt) Dumbach.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maggie Arlene (Lorah) Nolt; his brother, John Henry Nolt; and his sister, Clara Belle Nolt.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 10:30 AM on Monday, October 24, 2011, at the Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, 11 South Muddy Creek Road, Denver, with a Masonic service held at 10 AM, followed by funeral services at 10:30 AM with Pastor Paul Smeltz officiating. A graduate of the Tennessee Temple University with a Bachelor's degree in secondary English, Edna worked as an Education Director at Manos House in Lancaster, a secondary English teacher, assistant to Dr. Bensing at Ephrata Family Eye Care, and most recently a CNA at Conestoga View. She attended Grace Church in Ephrata. Edna enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting the beach, and working with her computer.
In addition to her mother, Edna is survived by a brother, Leroy N., husband of Linda (Showalter) Nolt of Dayton, VA; 5 sisters, Ella N. and Anna N. Nolt of Akron, Mary N. Nolt of Lititz, Alta Mason of Hagerstown, MD and Annette, wife of Warren Martin of Akron; 17 nieces and nephews.

Nolt, John O., 71, of Myerstown, PA, died April 1, 2011 in his home. He was born December 18, 1939 in Lititz, PA, a son of the late Paul S. and Esther B.
Oberholtzer Nolt. He was the husband of Esther Mae Harnish Nolt with whom he was
married to for 48 years. He was a member of the Richland Mennonite Church.

He was married to the late Elizabeth W. Martin for 56 years. She died November 19, 1998.
John was a retired farmer and carpenter.
Surviving are five sons: Allen M. husband of Mary Ella Zimmerman Nolt, Clyde, NY; Eli M. husband of Anna Zimmerman Nolt, Ephrata; John Henry husband of Esther Leid Nolt, New Holland; Paul M. husband of Almeda Zimmerman Nolt, New Holland; Edward M. husband of Edna Zimmerman Nolt, Greenwich, OH; five daughters: Laura, wife of Raymond Shirk, Barnett, MO; Lydia, wife of Reuben Shirk, Barnett, MO; Nora, wife of Reuben Zimmerman, Barnett, MO; Anna Mae Nolt, at home; Elizabeth, wife of John Aaron Hoover, Shippensburg.
Also surviving are 58 grandchildren and 161 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were three brothers: Ivan, Christ, and Eli; and three sisters: Emma Nolt, Mary Huber, and Lydia Nolt; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 5, at 9 AM at his late home with further services at 9:30 AM at the Groffdale (Frame) Mennonite Church with Bishop Ammon Weaver officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at his late home on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Kindly omit flowers. She was born in Farmersville to the late David and Lydia (Hoover) Horst and was the wife of Allen S. Nolt. The couple celebrated 67 years of marriage this past January 16th.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Springville Mennonite Church, Ephrata (Weaverland Conference).
In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by 5 sons, Mervin H. (Ruby Kandel) Nolt of Apple Creek, OH, Glenn H. (Ruth Ann Swartzentruber) Nolt of Dalton, OH, Leon H. Nussbaum, Willis E., of Orville, OH died March 21, 2011, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, Ohio. He was born on April 9, 1922, to Eli and Hulda
(Lehman) Nussbaum. On October 17, 1943, he married Edna Geiser at Sonnenberg
Mennonite Church. On May 7, 1977, Edna passed away. After a period of mourning,
Willis opened his heart to Elrena Lehman, a widow who lived down the street. On
May 20, 1978, they were married at Kidron Mennonite Church.
He was a faithful member of Kidron Mennonite Church.
Willis & Edna had three children: Elton (Freida) of Calico Rock, Arkansas (deceased); Arvilla (Dean) Kaufman of Boise, Idaho; and Arden (Marilyn) of Dalton, OH. When he married Elrena he added seven stepchildren to his family: Virgene Lehman of Millersburg OH; Karen (Joe) Garnett of Shirley, Arkansas; Curt Lehman of Orrville, OH; Darrel (Cathy) Lehman, Craig (Kelly) Lehman and Lori (Angelo) Napolitan, all of Dalton, OH; and Joyce (Ken) Weaver of Apple Creek, OH.
When Elrena's health began to fail, Willis cared for her for many years at home and faithfully visited her twice daily at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. Elrena passed
away on March 14, 2008.
Also survived by his five grandchildren Lewis (Marienel) Kaufman of Wooster, OH; Crystal (Britt) Williams of Alexandria, Virginia; John (Tone) Kaufman of Oslo, Norway; and Joy and Jody Nussbaum of Dalton,OH; ten step-grandchildren Mark Lehman; Jill (Drew) Gerber; Caitlyn and Ben Lehman; Nick, Kendra and Kacy Napolitan; Andrea (Luke) Martin; and John and Bryan Weaver, and five great-grandchildren (Daniel, Rebecca, and Jonathan Kaufman; and Nita and Vivian Williams). Willis is also survived by one sister (Esther Neuenschwander of Kidron) and one brother (Glen Nussbaum of Alberta, Canada).
Elton, was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, sisters Celesta Steiner, Lorene Nussbaum, and Orpha Neuenschwander and brothers Aldis and
Clayton Nussbaum.
Willis will always be remembered for his big heart, commitment to his community, and deep love for God and his Word.
Funeral services was March 26, 2011 at Kidron Mennonite Church. Burial will be at Sonnenberg Mennonite Church Cemetery.

GOSHEN -- Hermann Nuyken, 81, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at The Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen. He battled cancer for the last three years.
He was born Jan. 19, 1930, in Callenstein, Prussia, to Karl and Melanie (Engelhard) Nuyken. He married Dorothy Parmalee in June 1963. She died in 1986. Hermann married Patricia Roth in Elkhart on July 22, 1989. She survives.
Also surviving is one brother, Max Nuyken of Bremen, Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and two brothers, Klaus and Wessel Nuyken.
While in Prussia, Hermann hosted U.S. students with the help of the agency Experiment in International Living. He moved to the U.S. in 1959 because of the Experiment project and worked at Dodge Manufacturing in Mishawaka as a mechanical engineer for 20 years. During that time, he earned his MBA at Michigan State University.
In the '70s, Hermann started Michiana Solar, producing solar panels and geothermal products.
Hermann and a friend, Richard Bottorf, began the sister city relationship of Mishawaka and Soest, Germany. He also became a United States citizen in April of this year.
As requested by Hermann, his body will be cremated. A private family graveside service will take place at Violett Cemetery at a later date. There will be a public memorial service for Hermann at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Assembly Mennonite Church, 1201 S. 11th St., Goshen, where he and Patricia were members. Light refreshments and fellowship will follow the memorial service at the church. Services will be lead by pastors Carmen Horst and Heidi Siemens-Rhodes.

Aldean Oswald 90 of Aurora died Friday died Friday, August 26, 2011. She was born July 27, 1921 in Milford, Nebraska to the late Emory and Ada (Stutzman) Schweitzer.
Mrs. Oswald was a member of the Aurora Mennonite Church and had lived in Aurora and Streetsboro since 1946.
Survivors include her daughters Carol Yoder of Salineville, Mary Sly of Kent, and Marlene Mikula of Mantua, sons Gary of McPherson, Kansas, Herbert of Columbiana, and Daniel of Ravenna, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and sisters Lela Stutzman and Edna Miller both of Aurora, OH and Verba Troyer of Milfrod, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Noble Oswald in 1996 and a sister Ina Saltzman.

Otto, John J.
John J. Otto, 55, of Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, formerly of Humboldt, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, in Wooster, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning, April 16, at Rundelltown Community Building in Conneautville, Pennsylvania, with Bishop Andy Miller officiating. Interment was in Conneautville New Order Amish Cemetery. White-Cool Funeral Home, Conneautville assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. Otto was born October 15, 1955, in Mattoon. He was a son of Jacob and Mary (Mast) Otto. He married Carolyn Otto on October 15, 1981, in Kokomo, Indiana. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Larry Otto and wife Diana of Cambridge Springs, Harold Otto and wife Karen of Saegertown, Kevin Otto and wife Sarah of Rosebush, Michigan, and Brian Otto and wife Rosanna of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Otto was owner and operator of Cussewago Truss Company.
Born Oct. 10, 1921, in New Holland, PA to John R. Beiler Sr. and Lydia (Stoltzfus) Beiler. Her husband, David C. Peachey, whom she married on Dec. 20, 1941, preceded her in death on March 29, 1977.
Survived by her children: Glenn D. Peachey, and wife, Ann, of Belleville, PA; Norman R. Peachey, and wife, Polly, of Daphne, Ala., Esther R. Collins, and husband, Scott, of Lewistown, PA; daughter-in-law, Regina Peachey, of Belleville; brother, Jacob R. Beiler, of Lancaster, PA; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great- great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Susan Esh and Anna Mary Beiler; and two brothers: Crist S. Beiler and John R. Beiler Jr. She was a member of Allensville Mennonite Church and most recently she attended Valley View Haven Chapel.

GOSHEN -- Sue E. Peachey, 97, died Saturday (May 14, 2011) at Greencroft Healthcare, where she had been since August 2008.
She was born Feb. 7, 1914, in Reedsville, Pa., to the late Christian B. and Fannie (Kauffman) Yoder. She married Jacob J. Peachey Jr. on Dec. 15, 1938, in Belleville, Pa. He died Aug. 8, 1979.
She is survived by a son, Chester R. (Ruthann Brilhart) Peachey of Goshen; two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Mary Helen Kolisnyk) Peachey of New York City, and Kristina (Khamko Butsakone) Peachey of Vientiane, Laos PDR; a great-grandson, Andy Peachey Butsakone; and a sister, Nora M. Yoder of Belleville.
She was preceded in death by sisters Lydia Sharp, Annie Stoltzfus, Barbara Peachey, Nancy Yoder, Fannie Yoder, Mary Yoder and Lizzie Yoder; and three brothers, Jonathan, Levi and Sam Yoder.
A Goshen resident since 1980, Mrs. Peachey was a member of College Mennonite Church, Goshen, and was a former member of Rockville Mennonite Church, Belleville. She worked at the Sideboard Café and did housecleaning. She also volunteered at Greencroft and was an avid quilter, completing more than 200 quilts.
Friends may call 1 to 3 p.m., Monday at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft. A 3 p.m. funeral service will be conducted at the same location with Pastor June Alliman Yoder, College Mennonite Church, and Greencroft Chaplain Velma Swartz officiating.
Friends may also call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville, where a 10:30 a.m. funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday with family friend the Rev. Timothy Peachey officiating.
